Abstract
In this work, MIL-88A(Fe) was immobilized onto the expanded perlites to fabricate the floating MIL-88A(Fe)@expanded perlites (M@EP) catalyst via high throughput batch synthesis method under room temperature. The as-prepared M@EP could efficiently activate H2O2 to achieve 100% tetracycline antibiotics (TCs) removal under both artificial low power UV light (UVL) and real sunlight (SL) irradiation. The toxicological evaluation, growth experiment of mung beans and antimicrobial estimation revealed the decreasing aquatic toxicity of the TCs intermediates compared to those of the pristine TCs. A self-designed continuous bed reactor was employed to investigate the long-term operation of the M@EP. The findings demonstrated that the antibiotics mixture can be continuously degraded up to 7 days under UVL and 5 daytimes under SL irradiation, respectively. More importantly, ca. 76.9% and 81.6% of total organic carbon (TOC) removal efficiencies were accomplished in continuous bed reactor under UVL and SL irradiation, respectively. This work advances the immobilized MOFs on floating supports for their practical application in large-scale wastewater purification through advanced oxidation processes. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPLICATION: This work presented the high throughput production and photo-Fenton degradation application of floating MIL-88A(Fe)@expanded perlites (M@EP). Three tetracycline antibiotics (TCs) were selected as model pollutants to test the degradation ability of M@EP in batch experiment and continuous operation under artificial light and solar light. The complete TCs degradation could be accomplished in self-designed device up to 7 d under UV light and 5 d under real solar light. This work tapped a new door to push MOFs-based functional materials in the real water purification.

Abstract
The abuse and uncontrolled discharge of antibiotics present a severe threat to environment and human health, necessitating the development of efficient and sustainable treatment technology. In this work, we employ a facile one-step electrodeposition method to prepare polyaniline/graphite oxide (PANI/GO) and samarium (Sm) co-modified Ti/PbO2 (Ti/PbO2-PANI/GO-Sm) electrode for the degradation of amoxicillin (AMX). Compared with traditional Ti/PbO2 electrode, Ti/PbO2-PANI/GO-Sm electrode exhibits more excellent oxygen evolution potential (2.63 V) and longer service life (56 h). In degradation experiment, under optimized conditions (50 mg L-1 AMX, 20 mA cm-2, pH 3, 0.050 M Na2SO4, 25 °C), Ti/PbO2-PANI/GO-Sm electrode achieves remarkable removal efficiencies of 88.76% for AMX and 79.92% for chemical oxygen demand at 90 min. In addition, trapping experiment confirms that ·OH plays a major role in the degradation process. Based on theoretical calculation and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometer results, the heterocyclic portion of AMX molecule is more susceptible to ·OH attacks. Thus, this novel electrode offers a sustainable and efficient solution to address environmental challenges posed by antibiotic-contaminated wastewater.

Abstract
Iron-nitrogen co-doped carbon materials as heterogeneous catalysts have attracted much attention in advanced oxidation processes involving peroxymonosulfate (PMS) due to their unique structure and enormous catalytic potential. However, there is limited research on the influence of different coordination structures on the central iron atoms. Through simple pyrolysis, we introduced oxygen atoms into the Fe-N coordination structure, constructing Fe-N/O@C catalysts with Fe-N2O2 coordination structure, and achieved efficient degradation of bisphenol A (BPA). Quenching experiments, electron paramagnetic resonance, and electrochemical analysis indicate that compared to the free radical activation pathway of Fe-N@C, high-valent iron-oxo species (≡Fe(Ⅳ) = O) are the main reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the Fe-N/O@C/PMS system. Meanwhile, we compared the differences in the oxidation states of Fe atoms and electron density in different coordination structures, revealing the formation of high-valent iron-oxo species and the mechanism of interfacial electron transfer. Therefore, this study provides new insights into the design and development of Fe-N co-doped catalysts for resource-efficient and environmentally friendly catalytic oxidation systems.

Abstract
The construction and application of novel highly efficient photocatalysts have been the focus in the field of environmental pollutant removal. In this work, a novel CuFe2O4/Bi12O17Cl2 photocatalysts were synthesized by simple hydrothermal and chemical precipitation method. The fabricated CuFe2O4/Bi12O17Cl2 composite exhibited much higher photocatalytic activity than pristine CuFe2O4 and Bi12O17Cl2 in the removal of bisphenol A (BPA) under visible-light illumination, which ascribed to the intrinsic p-n junction of CuFe2O4 and Bi12O17Cl2. The photocatalytic degradation rate of BPA on CuFe2O4/Bi12O17Cl2 with an optimized CuFe2O4 content (1.0 wt.%) reached 93.0% within 30 min. The capture experiments of active species confirmed that the hydroxyl radicals (•OH) and superoxide radicals (•O2-) played crucial roles in photocatalytic BPA degradation process. Furthermore, the possible degradation mechanism and pathways of BPA was proposed according to the detected intermediates in photocatalytic reaction process.

Abstract
Heterojunction structure and ion doping techniques are viable tactics in facilitating the generation and separation of photogenerated electrons and holes in photocatalysis. In the current study, a novel Bi ion-doped MIL-68(In,Bi)-NH2@BiOBr (MIBN@BOB) type-II heterojunction was first synthesized in a one-step solvothermal reaction. Doping of Bi ions not only broadened the light-sensing range but also provided reliable anchor sites for the in situ growth of BiOBr. Meanwhile, the heterostructure supplied new channels for photogenerated carriers, accelerating the transfer and inhibiting the recombination of photogenerated electron-hole. The obtained MIBN@BOB exhibited enhanced photocatalytic performance (91.1%) than MIL-68(In)-NH2 (40.8%) and BiOBr (57.5%) in ciprofloxacin (CIP) degradation under visible light, with excellent reusability. Photocatalysts were characterized in detail, and a series of photoelectrochemical tests were utilized to analyze the photoelectric properties. MIBN@BOB were deduced to conform the electron conduction mechanism of conventional type-II heterojunctions. More importantly, based on the above experiments and density functional theory (DFT) calculation, BiOBr-Bi in MIBN@BOB can serve as the major active sites of CIP enrichment, and •O2- and 1O2 generated at the BiOBr interface can react with the adsorbed CIP directly. Lastly, the possible degradation products and pathways of CIP were analyzed by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). This study provides a reference for the construction of ion-doping-modified metal-organic framework (MOF)-based heterojunction photocatalysts and their application in antibiotic removal.

Abstract
Copper-manganese composite metal oxides (CuMnOy) were prepared by hydrolysis-driven oxidation-reduction method and used to activate sulfite to degrade chlortetracycline hydrochloride (CTC) for the first time. The Jahn-Teller ions Mn3+ and Cu2+ exist in CuMnOy, which form a solid electric charge transport redox system and ensure the continuous generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Through the systematic study of the experimental parameters such as sulfite concentration, catalyst metal molar ratio, catalyst amounts and initial pH, the optimal degradation rate of CTC could reach 91.74% within 10 min and 94.46% after 30 min. The major reactive radicals were determined by radical quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) trapping techniques, and it was confirmed that SO4•- and •O2- played a nonnegligible role in the process of degrading CTC. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations show that higher Fukui indices (f- and f0) of CTC sites are more vulnerable to free radical attack. CuMnOy has low CTC degradation intermediate toxicity, high catalytic performance, good anti-interference ability, reusability and stability, and possesses decent application potential in the actual water treatment field.

Abstract
Herein, an alumina-based bimetallic catalyst (Cu1Mn7@γ-Al2O3) was synthesized for bisphenol A (BPA) degradation in the catalytic ozonation process. The catalytic ozonation system could degrade 93.9% of BPA within 30 min under the conditions of pH = 7.0, 10 mg L-1 O3 concentration, and 24 g L-1 catalyst dosage compared to ozone alone (21.0%). The enhanced BPA degradation efficiency was attributed to the abundant catalytic sites and synergistic effects of Cu and Mn. The results revealed that the synergistic interaction between Cu and Mn effectively accelerated the electron transfer process on the catalyst surface, thus promoting the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Further studies indicated that the BPA degradation in Cu1Mn7@γ-Al2O3/O3 system predominantly followed the ·OH and O2·- oxidation pathway. Based on the density functional theory (DFT) calculations and intermediates detected by LC-MS analysis, two pathways for BPA degradation in the Cu1Mn7@γ-Al2O3/O3 system were proposed. The toxicity estimation illustrated that the toxicity of BPA and its byproducts was effectively reduced in the Cu1Mn7@γ-Al2O3/O3 system. This work provides a new protocol for O3 activation and pollutant elimination through a novel bimetallic catalyst during water purification.

Abstract
Membrane separation is considered an effective approach to water purification. Nevertheless, membrane fouling dramatically decreases the separation efficiency and lifetime of membranes, thus limiting its further development and application. Herein, a multifunctional self-cleaning MIL-88A(Fe) decorated polyvinyl alcohol/sodium alginate (MIL-88A(Fe)@PVA-SA) nanofiber membrane was prepared by electrospinning and in-situ growth methods for the separation of oil/water emulsions and photo-Fenton degradation of dyes. The membrane possesses superhydrophilicity with a water contact angle (WCA) of 0° and superoleophobicity with underwater oil contact angle (UCA) of 161.7°, and exhibits superior separation efficiency (>99.5 %) and permeation flux (1140-2455 L/m2/h) for different oil/water emulsions. Moreover, the membrane exhibited an outstanding photo-Fenton performance under visible light, with degradation efficiencies (~99.9 %) towards methylene blue (MB) and reactive red 24 (RR24) within 90 min. Importantly, the membrane can be easily regenerated by simple rinsing and photo-Fenton self-cleaning treatment. In this study, MIL-88A(Fe)@PVA-SA nanofiber membrane has a promising application in dye removal and oil/water separation, providing a new idea to develop novel membrane materials.

Abstract
Building S-scheme heterostructures is a sophisticated approach to receiving outstanding catalysts for environmental detoxification. Herein, ternary CuO/Cd0.5Zn0.5S/Bi5O7I (CO/CZS/BOI) nanocomposites were constructed by in-situ decorating of CuO and Cd0.5Zn0.5S nanoparticles onto Bi5O7I micro-sphere in a facile route. The optimal CO/CZS/BOI reflected reinforced bisphenol A (BPA) photo-oxidation (95% in 70 min) and Cr(VI) photo-reduction (96.6 in 60 min) under visible light. Besides, CO/CZS/BOI afforded 5.10 (4.44), 4.42 (3.71), and 6.60 (5.27) fold reinforcement in the BPA (Cr(VI)) photo-reaction rate compared to BOI, CZS, and CO, respectively. This behavior was linked to the development of S-scheme mechanisms resulting from the co-effects of BOI, CZS, and CO in retaining the optimum redox capacity, facilitating the dissolution of photo-carriers, increasing reactive sites, and strengthening the visible-light response. The parameters influencing the catalytic reaction of CO/CZS/BOI, such as light intensity, catalyst dosage, and pH, were deeply studied. The quenching tests declared the prominent roles •O2- and •OH in the breaking down of BPA and the participation of electrons and •O2- in the photocatalytic conversion of Cr(VI). The cyclic tests verified the robust photostability of CO/CZS/BOI, which is associated with the reintegration process between the free h+ coming from CZS and the photo-induced e- of CO and BOI in the S-scheme system. In conclusion, the present study provides a profound understanding of the photo-reaction mechanism of CO/CZS/BOI and introduces a novel concept for constructing a superior dual-Scheme system for efficient wastewater detoxification.

Abstract
Peroxymonosulfate (PMS)-mediated advanced oxidation processes gain growing attention in degrading antibiotics (e.g., tetracycline (TC)) in wastewater for their high capacity and relatively low cost, while designing efficient catalysts for PMS activation remains a challenge. In this study, a sulfur-doped Fe/C catalyst (Fe@C-S) synthesized from iron metal-organic frameworks (Fe-MOFs) was developed for PMS activation towards TC removal. Under optimal conditions, the TC removal efficiency of Fe@C-S150/PMS system within 40 min was 91.2%. Meanwhile, the k value for Fe@C-S150/PMS system (0.2038 min-1) was 3.36-fold as high as the S-free Fe@C-based PMS system. Also, Fe@C-S150/PMS system showed high robustness in different water matrices. Further studies found that the TC degradation mechanism was mainly ascribed to the non-radical pathway (1O2 and electron transfer). Fe nanoparticles, S and CO groups on the catalyst all participated in the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Besides, S species could enhance the Fe2+/Fe3+ redox cycle and accelerate the electron transfer process. This work highlights the critical role of S in enhancing the catalytic performance of Fe/C-based catalysts for PMS activation, which would provide meaningful insights into the design of high-performance PMS activators for the sustainable remediation of emerging contaminants-polluted water bodies.

Abstract
A heterogeneous photocatalyst, MgFe2O4/UiO-67 (MU-x), was successfully synthesized by doping magnetic magnesium ferrite nanoparticles (MgFe2O4) with the UiO-67 metal-organic framework at various weight ratios (MgFe2O4: UiO-67 at 30, 50, 70, and 90 wt %). Various techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) , Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), photoluminescence (PL), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis DRS), were used to characterize the prepared photocatalysts. The photocatalytic performance of MU-x in the degradation of ciprofloxacin (CIP) under visible light was assessed. The CIP degradation efficiency was found to increase as the amount of MgFe2O4 in the composite was increased up to 70 wt %. Experimental conditions were optimized using response surface methodology (RSM) based on central composite design (CCD) with three factors: initial pH, catalyst loading, and CIP concentration. Using the obtained model, the optimal conditions were determined as follows: initial pH of 8.025, catalyst loading of 33.8 wt %, and CIP concentration of 10.8 mg/L. Under these optimal conditions, a notable improvement was achieved, with 99.62% of CIP removal achieved within 90 min, surpassing the performance of previously reported photocatalysts. Total organic carbon (TOC) analysis revealed a high degree of mineralization, at 81.25%. The degradation pathway of CIP was investigated based on liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) analysis. Finally, the values of ECB and EVB of the photocatalyst were determined and the possible degradation mechanism of CIP was investigated based on Mott-Schottky and the applied scavengers. The hydroxyl radical (•OH) was identified as the dominant species in the removal of CIP through a trapping experiment. The photocatalyst with 70 wt % of MgFe2O4 (MU-70) exhibited excellent stability and recoverability with an external magnet, demonstrating 86.33% CIP removal after four cycles. According to the obtained results, MU-70 is a promising visible-light-active photocatalyst with great potential for water treatment applications and convenient recovery.

Abstract
In this work, a metal-organic framework@covalent organic framework composite (TPN-COF@Fe-MIL-100) was prepared and used as a sensing material to construct an aptasensor for trace detection of tetracycline (TET). The TPN-COF@Fe-MIL-100 integrates a large surface area, porous structure, excellent electrochemical activity, rich chemical functionality, and strong bioaffinity for aptamers, providing abundant active sites to effectively anchor aptamer strands. As a result, the TPN-COF@Fe-MIL-100-based aptasensor shows high sensitivity for detecting TET via specific recognition between aptamer and TET to form G-quadruplex. An ultralow detection limit of 1.227 fg mL-1 is deduced from the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy within a wide linear range of 0.01-10000 pg mL-1 for TET. The TPN-COF@Fe-MIL-100-based aptasensor also exhibits good selectivity, reproducibility, stability, regenerability, and applicability for a real milk sample. Therefore, the TPN-COF@Fe-MIL-100-based aptasensor will be promising for detecting trace harmful antibiotics residues for food safety.

Abstract
Patulin poses a potential risk to human health, and current methods for removing it have certain limits. Thus, the effective and secure technique for degrading patulin in juice is critical. In this study, a nitrogen-doped chitosan-TiO2 nanocomposite (N-TiO2 Nps) as a photocatalyst was employed to decompose patulin. Under the action of the photocatalyst, 500 μg/L patulin was completely degraded within 1 h in simulated juice. Quenching experiments identified superoxide and hydroxyl radicals as the dominant species responsible for patulin degradation. On the bases of liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and density functional theory (DFT) calculation, the reaction sites in patulin were predicted and a possible photodegradation pathway was proposed. The findings not only elucidated a new method for removing patulin but also provided a theoretical basis for scrutinizing the degradation mechanism of mycotoxins.

Abstract
A novel polyimide (PI) with broad-spectra response, high photocatalytic activity and stability under super acidic conditions (pH = 0) was synthesized via polymerizing method. Two types of perylene-cored materials (PDIAN and PTCDA) with anhydride and diamine respectively, were applied as precursors for PI polymerization. The as-prepared PI was optimized at 1:1 initial molar ratio of PDIAN to PTCDA. Using common PI (synthesized from melamine and pyromellitic dianhydride) as comparison, the Cr(VI) reduction rate was boosted from 25.4% to 96.6% within 120 min light irradiation. The corresponding rate constant by PI(PDIAN/PTCDA) was estimated to be ca. 11.7 times relative to that by common PI. The boosted performance was ascribed to the strong π-π conjugation from diperylene cores, which can decrease the photoluminescence intensity and electrochemical impedance, so as to promote the separation and transfer of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. In addition, the optimized PI(PDIAN/PTCDA) displayed wide-spectra response, which can still work under 730 nm light. The influencing factors toward Cr(VI) reduction were also clarified to be beneficial at lower pH and increased concentration of hole scavenger. After five cycles at pH 0, the PI still maintained excellent redox activity and structural stability.

Abstract
In this study, ferrous composites (FexO4) were prepared by microreactor to activate peroxydisulfate (PDS) for the degradation of bisphenol A (BPA) with visible (Vis) light irradiation. X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive spectrometry (EDS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used to characterize the morphology and crystal phase of FeXO4. Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy combined with amperometric tests were used to determine the role of PDS on the performance of photocatalytic reaction. The main reactive species and intermediates for BPA removal were determined by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) measurement and quenching experiments. The result indicated that singlet state oxygen (1O2) contributed more to the BPA degradation than that of other reactive radicals (·OH, SO4·- and ·O2-); these reactive radicals and 1O2 formed by the reaction between photo-generated electrons (e-) and holes (h+) of FexO4 and PDS. During this process, the consumption of e- and h+ also improved their separation efficiency and thus enhanced the degradation of BPA. In addition, the photocatalytic activity of FexO4 in Vis/FexO4/PDS system was 3.2-fold and 6.6-fold higher than that of single FexO4 and PDS under Vis light, respectively. The Fe2+/Fe3+ cycle could effectively drive the photocatalytic activation of PDS through indirect electron transfer and the formation of reactive radicals. This work illustrated that the degradation of BPA was rapidly in Vis/FexO4/PDS system mainly through 1O2, which further improve our understanding on the efficient removal of organic contaminants in the environment.

Abstract
The practical application of bismuth-based photocatalysts in the field of micropollutant photodegradation is limited due to their weak light absorption and rapid charge recombination. Herein, we have developed a novel carbon quantum dots-modified N-BiOCl (CDs-N-BiOCl) photocatalyst to activate persulfate (PS) for the complete elimination of endocrine-disruptor bisphenol A (BPA) under visible light irradiation. The photoelectric properties characterization shows that N atoms could replace Cl atoms or adsorb on Bi atoms to form local N 1s states in the BiOCl lattice, accompanied by the introduction of doping energy levels that shorten the electron migration distance. Meanwhile, the decorated CDs could effectively accept the photoinduced electrons from N-BiOCl conduction band to facilitate the charge separation. Thus, the 7%CDs-N-BiOCl (7CNB) nanocomposite synergistically activated PS realized rapid and effective degradation of BPA within 20 min (degradation efficiency and mineralization reached 100 % and 66.4 % respectively). Moreover, the 7CNB/PS system displayed favorable adaptability, durability, and interference resistance. Furthermore, the biotoxicity experiments demonstrated that the photodegradation intermediates promoted the growth of Escherichia coli which indicates its eco-friendliness for practical application. Finally, the electron transfer mechanism and the formation of reactive oxygen species in the photodegradation process were interpreted. In short, this work will present a promising strategy for bismuth-based photocatalysts to be used for the efficient treatment of real water bodies under visible light irradiation.

Abstract
Z-scheme mechanism was a promising approach to considerably enhance photocatalytic activity. In this work, the PDINH/NH2-UiO-66(Zr) (PNU) heterojunctions were made using a facile ball-milling method. As expect, the optimum PNU-1 composite acted as highly active photocatalyst with 97% Cr(VI) to be reduced within 60 min of LED light illumination. Moreover, the antibacterial rate almost reached 100% for E. coli and S. aureus in 4 h, which was more conspicuous than the others. The wider light absorption range, promoted charge separation because of Z-scheme mechanism and efficient generation of reactive 1O2, •O2-, and •OH contributed greatly to the enhanced photocatalytic activity. Meanwhile, the superior stability and repeatability of the composites were also demonstrated by five cyclic experiments and related physicochemical characterizations. Therefore, this work provides a novel insight for designing high-efficiency Z-scheme heterostructures between MOFs and organic PDINH for wastewater remediation.

Abstract
Antibiotic contaminants can migrate over long distances in the water, thus possibly causing severe detriment to the environment and even potential harm to human health. Heterogeneous activation of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) assisted by visible light is an emerging and promising technology for the purification of such wastewater. This study designed an ultra-efficient and stable PMS activator (FeCN) to restore the typical antibiotic-polluted water under harsh conditions. About 90.94% of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) was degraded in 35 min in the constructed FeCN+PMS/vis system, and the reaction rate constant was nearly 50-fold higher than direct photocatalysis. Electron spin resonance, quenching experiments, LC/MS technique, eco-toxicity assessment, and density functional theory validated that the SMX removal was dominated by the attack of h+, •O2- and 1O2 on the active atoms of SMX molecules with high Fukui index, presenting as a simultaneous degradation and detoxification process. Such a visible-light-assisted PMS activation system also had good resistance to the environmental water bodies and a broad spectrum in the degradation of various pollutants. In particular, Cl- (50 mM) could significantly accelerate the removal of SMX with a 32.6-fold increase in catalytic activity, and the mineralization efficiency could reach 56.6% under identical conditions. Moreover, this Cl- containing system excluded the degradation products of disinfection by-products, and such a system was also versatile for different contaminants. This work demonstrates the feasibility of the FeCN+PMS/vis system for the remediation of antibiotic-contaminated wastewater in the presence and absence of Cl-, and also highlights their great potential in WWTPs.

Abstract
The fabrication of heterojunction nanocomposites has been proven as a highly efficient strategy to achieve promising photocatalysts. In this study, tin oxide (SnO2) and copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized in situ using Rosmarinus officinalis and simultaneously anchored on zeolite for the fabrication of zeolite/SnO2/CuO as a novel heterojunction photocatalyst. The performance of zeolite/SnO2/CuO was assessed against photodegradation of cefixime as a model pharmaceutical contaminant. A good catalytic potential and synergistic effect was obtained for zeolite/SnO2/CuO compared to pure SnO2 and CuO NPs. Under optimum conditions, 89.65% of cefixime was degraded after 2.5 h under natural sunlight. Based on radical quenching experiments, the importance of involved oxidizing species in the photodegradation of cefixime using zeolite/SnO2/CuO was in order of h+ > •OH > [Formula: see text]. Among studied anions, the highest inhibitory effect was observed for nitrate ion. Also, the main intermediates of the photodegradation process of cefixime in zeolite/SnO2/CuO system were determined by HPLC-MS and the possible pathways were suggested. More than 83% cefixime was removed after three catalyst reuse cycles, indicating a cost-effectiveness potential in the reusability of zeolite/SnO2/CuO. Also, the toxicity and plant growth tests revealed the feasibility of discharging the treated cefixime solutions to irrigate agricultural crops. Overall, the obtained results provide a promising technique with a synergistic feature for the efficient removal of organic pollutants.

Abstract
We synthesized an MFeCoB0.4CNx% (MOF-Fe/Co nanosheets/boron-doped g-C3N4) composite catalyst for enhancing the concurrent photocatalytic-persulfate activation (CPPA) system and achieved efficient degradation of antibiotics. The role of MOF-Fe/Co is to activate persulfate, while boron-doped g-C3N4 can generate photogenerated electrons for the reduction of Co3+/Fe3+ to enhance the regeneration of the active center. The rate constant for Tetracycline degradation by the CPPA system was 4.74 and 7.54 times higher than the photocatalytic and persulfate-activated systems, respectively. This composite was shown to be practical and economically viable for antibiotic degradation. The degradation behavior was explored based on experiments, and molecular orbitals and Fukui functions were obtained by density functional theory calculations. Mechanisms were investigated using reactive oxygen species trapping studies and electron spin resonance, and the process was explained in terms of the charge population and electron density difference of MOF-Fe/Co nanosheets. The CPPA system is an ecologically benign technology for removing antibiotic-related risks to the environment and human health.

Abstract
A novel magnetic core-shell Fe3O4@SiO2@CdS embedded graphene oxide (GO) composite was prepared for the visible-light-driven photodegradation of high ring number polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). The potential application of GO-Fe3O4@SiO2@CdS was evaluated through the photodegradation of phenanthrene and pyrene in deionized water, tap water, and lake water, respectively. It was found that GO-Fe3O4@SiO2@CdS could remove 86.4 % of phenanthrene and 93.4 % of pyrene, suggesting its potential for the degradation of high-ring number PAHs. The density functional theory (DFT) calculations demonstrate that pyrene has more active sites attacked by free radicals. The photoelectrochemical measurement and quenching experiments indicate that GO can transfer photoelectrons efficiently, resulting in the crucial radicals (O2-, OH and 1O2). More importantly, the photocatalytic activity kept almost constant during five cycles, confirming the significant anti-photocorrosion of GO-Fe3O4@SiO2@CdS. This work provides some new insights into the removal of PAHs with high-ring numbers in the natural water environment.

Abstract
A PbO2 electrode integrating electrocatalytic and adsorptive functions was successfully fabricated by embedding layer-by-layer graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) into β-PbO2 active layer (GNPs/PbO2) and employed as anode for high-efficient removal of sulfadiazine (SDZ). In electrochemical degradation experiments, SDZ was quickly enriched on the surface of GNPs/PbO2 film via adsorption and then oxidized by ⋅OH in-site. In terms of the electrocatalytic performance and adsorption of electrode, the optimal electrodeposition time for each β-PbO2 outer layer was 4 min (GNPs/PbO2-4). Compared with conventional PbO2 electrode, the layer-by-layer GNPs resulted in the smaller crystal size and denser surface of PbO2 electrode, thus facilitating the generation of active oxygen species. At the same time, the specific surface area, oxygen evolution potential (OEP) of the anode were enhanced and the charge-transfer resistance was reduced. For GNPs/PbO2-4 anode, the optimal conditions of electrochemical oxidation of SDZ were identified as initial pH 9, 50 mg/L of SDZ and 20 mA/cm2 of current density using response surface methodology (RSM), 98.15% of SDZ could be removed in this case. The contribution of radical oxidation and non-radical oxidation to SDZ removal was about 79% and 21%, respectively. Moreover, the reaction pathways of SDZ on the GNPs/PbO2-4 electrode involving hydroxylation, radical reaction and ring cleavage were speculated. Finally, the continuous SDZ degradation and accelerated service lifetime test suggested that the GNPs/PbO2-4 electrode was shown to be stable and repeatable, and the Pb2+ concentration was measured to ensure the safety of the treated solution. Consequently, the above findings provide an innovative way to design and prepare an effective and stable PbO2 electrode for electrochemical degradation of antibiotic wastewater.

Abstract
To address the difficulty of precisely regulating the two-electron oxygen reduction reaction (2e-ORR) and investigate the synergistic effect of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and peroxymonosulfate (PMS), a heterogeneous electro-catalyst was synthesized via carbonation of boron (B) and sulfur (S) co-doping electrospun nanofibers containing iron and cobalt (B, S-Fe/Co@C-NCNFs-900), and used to degrade levofloxacin (Levo) in the electro-activating PMS with self-made cathode material (E-cathode-PMS) system. The morphological, structural, and electrochemical characteristics have been investigated. The results showed that B and S co-doping could remarkably enhance electron transfer and manage two-electron oxygen reduction, which was more favorable for H2O2 generation. Levo degradation efficiency could reach 99.63% with a reaction rate of 0.3056 min-1 in 20 min under the appropriate conditions (pH = 4, current = 20 mA, and [PMS] = 8.0 mM). The steady-state concentration of singlet oxygen (1O2) was calculated to be 669.17 × 10-14 M, which was 15.42, 29.74, and 45.00 times respectively than that of HO2·/O2·- (43.40 × 10-14 M), ·OH (22.25 × 10-14 M) and SO4-·(14.87 × 10-14 M), signifying that 1O2 was the predominant reactive oxygen species (ROS) involved in Levo removal. The high TOC removal (74.19%), low energy consumption (0.14 kWh m-3 order-1), few intermediates toxicity, and excellent Levo degradation efficiency for complex wastewater with various anions and matrixes showed the prospective practical applications of the E-cathode-PMS system. Overall, this study provides a useful strategy to regulate and control the 2e-ORR pathway.

Abstract
The presence of antibiotics in the aquatic environment can cause significant environmental and human health problems even at trace concentrations. Conventional treatment systems alone are ineffective in removing these resistant antibiotics. To address this problem, oxidation and adsorption techniques were used to explore the removal of recalcitrant antibiotic chloramphenicol (CAP). An aluminum-based metal-organic framework (Al-MIL) with high surface area and extended porosity, was prepared and used both as adsorbent and catalyst for the oxidation of CAP. Characterization of the Al-MIL revealed a large surface area of 1137 m2 g-1, a homogeneous microporous structure, good crystallinity, and particle size in the range of 200-400 nm. Adsorption of CAP on Al-MIL achieved equilibrium after 1 h, reaching a maximum adsorption capacity of 96.1 mg g-1 at the optimum pH value of 5.3. The combination of adsorption and oxidation did not improve the % TOC reduction considerably, indicating an antagonistic rather than synergistic effect between the two processes. Oxidation alone in the presence of persulfate, achieved a % TOC reduction of 71% after 2 h, compared to 56% achieved by adsorption alone at the same duration. The optimum persulfate concentration was determined as 2.5 mM. The Al-MIL structure did not demonstrate any substantial deterioriation after six repeated runs, according to the reusability experiments.

Abstract
Persulfate activation is an efficient advanced oxidation process for water treatment. However, many catalyst materials make their preparation methods and raw materials very complicated and expensive while pursuing high-efficiency catalytic effects. In this research, a novel Co-modified micro/nano geopolymer (Co-MNG) material was prepared from solid waste using a mechanochemical method. The whole preparation process of Co-MNG is simple and time-saving, and most of its raw materials are solid waste. In addition, it has few adverse effects on the environment during preparation and use and has a good effect on PDS activation. Under dark conditions, 1 mg L-1 of unloaded Co metal MNG material could degrade 20 mg L-1 Rhodamine B solution by 79% in 60 min with 15 mM PDS, but the application of visible light could not enhance its effect. However, after adding 4 wt% of different Co-containing compounds, the prepared Co-MNG materials could improve their degradation effect under the same conditions, and it is more obvious under the condition of applying visible light. Among them, MNG-Co(NO3)2 could completely degrade RhB within 40 min under the application of visible light. ESR (electron spin resonance) tests showed that the MNG-Co(NO3)2 material could generate a variety of active radicals in a photo-PDS system, such as h+, ·OH, ·O2- and SO4-. Mechanistic research experiments showed that both visible light and Co-MNG materials can activate PDS to a certain extent, but when both exist at the same time, the material could effectively couple visible light and Co activation of PDS in a photo-PDS activation system to achieve synergistic degradation of pollutants in water.

Abstract
Hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) is a highly mobile cancerogenic and teratogenic heavy metal ion. Among the varied technologies applied today to address chromium water pollution, photocatalysis offers a rapid reduction of Cr(VI) to the less toxic Cr(III). In contrast to classic photocatalysts, Metal-Organic frameworks (MOFs) are porous semiconductors that can couple the Cr(VI) to Cr(III) photoreduction to the chromium species immobilization. In this minireview, we wish to discuss and analyze the state-of-the-art of MOFs for Cr(VI) detoxification and contextualizing it to the most recent advances and strategies of MOFs for photocatalysis purposes. The minireview has been structured in three sections: (i) a detailed discussion of the specific experimental techniques employed to characterize MOF photocatalysts, (ii) a description and identification of the key characteristics of MOFs for Cr(VI) photoreduction, and (iii) an outlook and perspective section in order to identify future trends.

Abstract
Iron-based catalysts are widely used in water treatment and environmental remediation due to their abundant content in nature and their ability to activate persulfate at room temperature. Here, eggshell biochar-loaded natural iron slag (IO@ESBC) was successfully synthesized to remove tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) by activated persulfate. The morphology, structure and chemical composition of IO@ESBC were systematically characterized. The IO@ESBC/PS process showed good performance for TCH removal. The decomposition rate constant (k) for IO@ESBC was 0.011 min−1 and the degradation rate was 3690 mmol/g/h in this system. With the increase of PS concentration and IO@ESBC content, the removal rate of TCH both increased. The IO@ESBC/PS process can effectively remove TCH at pH 3–9. There are different effects on TCH removal for the reason that the addition of water matrix species (humic acid, Cl−, HCO3−, NO3− and HPO42−). The IO@ESBC/PS system for degrading TCH was mainly controlled by both the free radical pathway (SO4•−, •OH and O2•−) and non-free radical pathway (1O2). The loading of ESBC slows down the agglomeration between iron particles, and more active sites are exposed. The removal rate of TCH was still above 75% after five cycles of IO@ESBC. This interesting investigation has provided a green route for synthesis of composite driving from waste resources, expanding its further application for environmental remediations.

Abstract
This state of the art review presented the photocatalytic reduction from highly toxic Cr(VI) to lowly toxic Cr(III) with metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and their composites. The construction of composites facilitated the transportation of the photo-induced charges to enhance the Cr(VI) reduction, in which the corresponding mechanisms were clarified by both experimental tests and DFT calculations. The immobilized MOFs onto some substrates accomplished continuous operations toward Cr(VI) reduction even under real solar light. As well, the environmental applications of the Cr(VI) reduction were analyzed, in which the influence factors toward the Cr(VI) reduction were clarified. This review reported that a big breakthrough was achieved from the batch experiment to the continuous operation for Cr(VI) reduction, in which MOFs demonstrated a bright prospective in the field of photocatalytic Cr(VI) reduction.

Abstract
The emerging porous material metal organic framework (MOFs) has caught researchers' attention in the field of photocatalysis. In this study, a visible light-driven carbon nanodots/MIL-100(Fe) photocatalytic material was prepared by in situ synthesis method. The study found that the composite material loaded with 2.5 mg C-dots (2.5-carbon nanodots/MIL-100(Fe)) showed the best tetracycline degradation efficiency with 4.2 times higher than that of MIL-100(Fe) materials in a neutral environment. The superiority of 2.5-carbon nanodots/MIL-100(Fe) in degrading tetracycline is attributed to the fact that C-dots have the ability to act as acceptors and donors of electrons, thus promoting electron transfer and inhibiting electron-hole recombination. Moreover, the 2.5-carbon nanodots/MIL-100(Fe) also showed high stability after five cycles of the photodegradation reaction. The quenching experiment proved that the main active substances that degrade tetracycline were O2- and h+. The study of carbon nanodots /MIL-100(Fe) composite materials provides new thoughts and methods for the removal of organic pollutants.

Abstract
To enhance the efficiency of photogenerated electron transport in the photo-Fenton reaction, we report a Fe-doped UiO-66 containing Fe-O-Zr bonds for the photo-Fenton reaction system. The modulation changes the energy bandgap from 3.89 eV to 2.02 eV, and its absorption edge is red-shifted from the UV region to the visible range. Simultaneously, Fe-O-Zr reduces the redox internal resistance, enhances the photocurrent and catalytic process, and suppresses the compounding of photogenerated electrons and holes. These promote the valence cycling of Fe(III)/Fe(II) in the photo-Fenton reaction. Compared with UiO-66, the hydroxyl radical generation efficiency of this reaction system was increased by 5.8 times (UiO-66: 0.0009 mM/min, FeUiO-1: 0.0053 mM/min). The degradation efficiency of BPA was increased by 100.8 times (UiO-66: 0.0012 min-1, FeUiO-1: 0.121 min-1), and the removal rate of TOC also reached 69.55%. The removal rate of BPA was maintained at more than 85% through 5 cycles. The reaction system was able to maintain a removal rate more than 97% at pH:3-9. In the presence of anions, such as Cl-, SO42-, NO32- (10 mM), the degradation rates of BPA were still above 94%. The catalytic efficiency was 2.02 times higher under natural light than relative to dark conditions. It was demonstrated by EPR and inhibition experiments that the main active species in the reaction were hydroxyl radicals and vacancies. The HOMO energy level and LUMO energy level of the intermediates were analyzed, and the possible degradation pathways of the active species were speculated. Evaluation of the biological toxicity of intermediates demonstrated that the system can effectively detoxify BPA. This investigation provides a reference method to enhance the efficiency of the photo-Fenton reaction of MOFs.

Abstract
There has been a direct correlation between the rate of industrial development and the spread of pollution on Earth, particularly in the last century. The organic and inorganic pollutants generated from industrial activities have created serious risks to human life and the environment. The concept of sustainability has emerged to tackle the environmental issues in developing chemical-based industries. However, pollutants have continued to be discharged to water resources, and finding appropriate techniques for the removal and remedy of wastewater is in high demand. Chromium is one of the high-risk heavy metals in industrial wastewaters that should be removed via physical adsorption and/or transformed into less hazardous chemicals. Photocatalysis as a sustainable process has received considerable attention as it utilizes sunlight irradiation to remedy Cr(VI) via a cost-effective process. Numerous photocatalytic systems have been developed up to now, but metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have gained growing attention because of their unique versatilities and facile structural modulations. A variety of MOF-based photocatalysts have been widely employed for the photoreduction of Cr(VI). Here, we review the recent progress in the design of MOF photocatalysts and summarize their performance in photoreduction reactions.
