Abstract
The effects of long-term ammunition pollution on microecological characteristics were analyzed to formulate microbial remediation strategies. Specifically, the response of enzyme systems, N/O stable isotopes, ion networks, and microbial community structure/function levels were analyzed in long-term (50 years) ammunition-contaminated water/sediments from a contamination site, and a compound bacterial agent capable of efficiently degrading trinitrotoluene (TNT) while tolerating many heavy metals was selected to remediate the ammunition-contaminated soil. The basic physical and chemical properties of the water/sediment (pH (up: 0.57-0.64), nitrate (up: 1.31-4.28 times), nitrite (up: 1.51-5.03 times), and ammonium (up: 7.06-70.93 times)) were changed significantly, and the significant differences in stable isotope ratios of N and O (nitrate nitrogen) confirmed the degradability of TNT by indigenous microorganisms exposed to long-term pollution. Heavy metals, such as Pb, Zn, Cu, Cd, Cs, and Sb, have synergistic toxic effects in ammunition-contaminated sites, and significantly decreased the microbial diversity and richness in the core pollution area. However, long-term exposure in the edge pollution area induced microorganisms to use TNT as a carbon and nitrogen sources for life activities and growth and development. The Bacteroidales microbial group was significantly inhibited by ammunition contamination, whereas microorganisms such as Proteobacteria, Acidobacteriota, and Comamonadaceae gradually adapted to this environmental stress by regulating their development and stress responses. Ammunition pollution significantly affected DNA replication and gene regulation in the microecological genetic networks and increased the risk to human health. Mg and K were significantly involved in the internal mechanism of microbial transport, enrichment, and metabolism of TNT. Nine strains of TNT-utilizing microbes were screened for efficient TNT degradation and tolerance to typical heavy metals (copper, zinc and lead) found in contaminated sites, and a compound bacterial agent prepared for effective repair of ammunition-contaminated soil significantly improved the soil ecological environment.

Abstract
Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) are wastewater treatment technologies that stand out for their ability to degrade Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs). The literature has extensively investigated these removal processes for different aqueous matrices. Once technically mature, some of these systems have become accredited to be applied on a large scale, and therefore, their systemic performances in the environmental and cost spheres have also become essential requirements. This study proposed corroborating this trend, analyzing the available literature on the subject to verify how experts in the AOP area investigated this integration during 2015-2023. For this purpose, a sample of publications was treated by applying the Systematic Review (SR) methodology. This resulted in an extract of 83 studies that adopted life-cycle logic to estimate environmental impacts and process costs or evaluated them as complementary to the technical dimension of each treatment technology. This analysis found that both dimensions can be used for selecting or sizing AOPs at the design scale. However, the appropriate choice of the impact categories for the environmental assessment and establishing a methodology for cost analysis can make the approach still more effective. In addition, a staggering number of processes would broaden the reality and applicability of the estimates, and adopting multicriteria analysis methodologies could address essential aspects of decision-making processes during the design of the arrangements. By meeting the original purposes, the study broadened the requirements for designing AOPs and disseminating their use in mitigating the discharge of CECs.

Abstract
2,4,6-Trinitrotoluene (TNT) production processes generate a substantial amount of toxic wastewater. Therefore, it is crucial to identify efficient and sustainable methods for treating this wastewater. This paper explores the application of sustainable biomass-derived carbon produced from rice straw for the adsorption of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) red water. The rice straw-derived biochar (SBC) materials were synthesized by two-step reactions through hydrothermal carbonization and chemical activation with KOH. Characterization of the fabricated biochar was conducted using various techniques. Here, the chemical oxygen demand (COD) was used as an evaluation index for adsorption efficiency. The adsorption kinetics showed a good fit with the pseudo-second-order model, and the adsorption equilibrium was achieved in 30 min. The biochar's high surface area (1319 m2/g) and large pore volume (1.058 cm3/g) gave it a large adsorption capacity. The Langmuir model exhibited better correlation for equilibrium data analysis, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 173.9 mg/g at 298 K. The SBC was found to have a high removal effect over a wide pH range (from 1 to 13) and showed remarkable stability after undergoing five desorption-adsorption cycles using ethanol and acetone as eluent. The results provide a simple and low-cost method for the efficient treatment of TNT red water.

Abstract
Diaphorobacter strain DS2 degrades 3-nitrotoluene and 2-nitrotoluene via ring oxidation with 3-nitrotoluene dioxygenase (3NTDO). In the current study, we hypothesized that 3NTDO might also be involved in the degradation of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT), a major nitroaromatic explosive contaminant in soil and groundwater. Strain DS2 transforms TNT as a sole carbon and nitrogen source when grown on it. Ammonium chloride and succinate in the medium accelerated the TNT degradation rate. A resting cell experiment suggested that TNT does not compete with 3NT degradation (no negative impact of TNT on the reaction velocity for 3NT). Enzyme assay with 3NTDO did not exhibit TNT transformation activity. The above results confirmed that 3NTDO of DS2 is not responsible for TNT degradation. In the resting cell experiment, within 10 h, 4ADNT completely degraded. The degradation of 2ADNT was 97% at the same time. We hypothesized that 3NTDO involve in this reaction. Based on the DS2 genome, we proposed that the N-ethylmaleimide reductases (nemA) were involved in the initial reduction of the nitro group and aromatic ring of TNT. Our findings suggest that strain DS2 could be helpful for the removal of TNT from contaminated sites with or without any additional carbon and nitrogen source and with minimal accumulation of undesirable intermediates.

Abstract
Developing efficient photocatalysts is of crucial significance for the development of photocatalysis techniques. In this work, an S-scheme alkaline-washed TiOF2/HTiOF3(OHTOF) heterostructures with abundant Oxygen vacancies (Ovs) and OH groups was successfully constructed and used to remedy antibiotic wastewater under simulated sunlight. The generation of HTiOF3 was induced by g-C3N4 regulation. The results displayed that OHTOF15 composite possessed the best photocatalytic performance, which could degrade 94.2% tetracyclinehydrochloride (TCH) at a rate speed constant of 1.077 min-1 in 2.5 h. The after-alkali-washing process increased the concentration of OH groups and Ovs defects, and greatly enlarged the surface area. The abundant Ovs and OH groups were conducive to the formation of free radicals' and the transport of charge carriers. Compared with the pristine TiOF2, the absorption sidebands of OHTOF series were greatly red-shifted, which indicated that the increase of OH groups and the etching of the morphology of OHTOF further enhanced its visible-light harvesting ability. Furthermore, the metal cycle of the variable state of Ti4+/Ti3+ in OHTOF15 compensated for the charge balance and promoted the efficient separation of the carriers. Additionally, the apparent quantum efficiency (AQE) of the TCH photodegradation system based on Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) removal efficiency was calculated to be 0.32%. It was confirmed that the electron transport path in TiOF2/HTiOF3 nanocomposites system followed the S-scheme type, which increased the charge carriers' separation rate and maintained a strong redox capacity. This work could provide some enlightenment for the construction of the semiconducting heterojunction and controllable surface defects engineering.

Abstract
This study investigated the kinetic degradation of methylene blue (MB) by a UV/chlorine process and its combination with other advanced oxidation processes. The ∙OH and reactive chlorine species (RCS: Cl∙, ClO∙, etc.) were the primary reactive species, which accounted for 56.7% and 37.6% of MB degradation at pH 7, respectively. The second-order rate constant of Cl∙ towards MB was calculated to be 2.8 × 109 M-1 s-1. When the pH increased from 3 to 7, kMB by ∙OH increased from 0.15 to 0.21 min-1 before being reduced to 0.11 min-1 at pH 11. kMB by RCS continuously reduced from 0.16 to 0.13 min-1 when the pH was increased to 11. Humic acid (HA), Br-, and Cl- inhibited the degradation with kMB in the order: kMB (in HA) < kMB (in Br-) < kMB (in Cl-). HCO3- increased kMB from 0.37 to 0.48 min-1. The experimental and modeling methods fit well, indicating the effectiveness of using Kintecus® in predicting concentrations of free radicals in complex water matrices. TOC removal was achieved at 60% after 30 min in a control process and it was strongly inhibited by the presence of HA, with 22% removal achieved at 5 mgc L-1 HA. UV/chlorine/electrochemical oxidation (UV/chlorine/EO) significantly improves kMB from 0.37 to 0.94 min-1 at a high current (240 mA), while UV/chlorine/H2O2 decreased kMB at a low concentration of 0.01 mM H2O2 (kMB decreased by 6.1%). The results indicate that the energy cost for UV irradiation was the main cost in MB treatment in both UV/chlorine and UV/persulfate (UV/PS) processes, accounting for 91% and 84%, respectively.

Abstract
The aim of the present work was to synthesize magnetite (Fe3O4) nano hollow spheres (NHS) via simple, one-pot, template-free, hydrothermal method. The structural, morphological, and surface analysis of Fe3O4 NHS were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), x-ray diffraction technique (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy FTIR and burner-Emmett-teller (BET). The as obtained magnetic (Fe3O4) NHS were used as an adsorbent for treating industrial trinitrotoluene (TNT) wastewater to reduce its Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) values. Adsorption capacity (Qe) of the NHS obtained is 70 mg/g, confirming the attractive forces present between adsorbent (Fe3O4 NHS) and adsorbate (TNT wastewater). COD value of TNT wastewater was reduced to >92% in 2 h at room temperature. The adsorption capacity of Fe3O4 NHS was observed as a function of time, initial concentration, pH, and temperature. The applied Fe3O4 NHS was recovered for reuse by simply manipulating its magnetic properties with slight shift in pH of the solution. A modest decrease in Qe (5.0−15.1%) was observed after each cycle. The novel Fe3O4 NHS could be an excellent candidate for treating wastewater generated by the intermediate processes during cyclonite, cyclotetramethylene-tetranitramine (HMX), nitroglycerin (NG) production and other various environmental pollutants/species.

Abstract
The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of sand bed moisture on TNT transport from under the sand layer. The MO-2M explosive vapor detector was used, the detection mechanism of which is based on the FAIMS method. In addition, it was determined after what time the detector alarm appears, signaling the presence of TNT vapors, and how it affects the thickness of the sand layer. The performed work allowed us to assess the suitability and possibly adapt the MO-2M detector to detect non-metal mines, which will help develop new application possibilities for this device. These tests can also be used to eliminate environmental contamination resulting from the deposition of explosives in the ground and the migration of harmful compounds to groundwater.
