Superparamagnetic MnFe2O4 dispersed over graphitic carbon sand composite and bentonite as magnetically recoverable photocatalyst for antibiotic mineralization

Peroxymonosulfate activation by cobalt-doped ferromanganese magnetic oxides through singlet oxygen and radical pathways for efficient sulfadiazine degradation

In this paper, cobalt-doped MnFe2O4 (CMFO-0.4) with oxygen vacancies was successfully synthesised by the sol-gel method and applied as a high-performance catalyst for the activation of peroxomonosulfate (PMS). The catalyst showed an excellent catalytic effect for the degradation of sulfadiazine (SDZ) by activated PMS, and the degradation rate can reach 100% in 10 minutes. The effects of different conditions on the degradation of SDZ were investigated, and it was determined that the optimal concentrations of catalyst and PMS were 0.2 g L-1 and 1 mM, respectively, and had good degradation effects in the pH 5-11 range. Free radical quenching experiments, XPS, and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) analyses revealed the presence of hydroxyl radicals (˙OH), sulphate radicals (SO4˙-), singlet oxygen (1O2), and superoxide radicals (˙O2 -) in the CMFO-0.4/PMS system, with 1O2 being the main reactive oxygen species (ROS). In addition, CMFO-0.4 has good reusability and adaptability to the presence of other substances.

Enhanced H2O2 formation and norfloxacin removal by electro-Fenton process using a surface-reconstructed graphite felt cathode: New insight into synergistic mechanism of defective active sites

The efficient catalytic activity and strong durability possibility of carbon-based three-dimensional fiber materials remains an important challenge in Electro-Fenton advanced oxidation technology. Graphite felt (GF) is a promising electrode material for 2-electron oxygen reduction reaction but with higher catalytic inertia. Anodizing modification of GF has been proved to enhance it electro-catalytic property, but the disadvantages of excessive or insufficient oxidation of GF need further improved. Herein, the surface reconstituted graphite felt by anodizing and HNO₃ ultrasonic integrated treatment was used as cathode to degrade norfloxacin (NOR) and the substantial role of different modification processes was essentially investigated. Compared with the single modification process, the synergistic interaction between these two methods can generate more defective active sites (DASs) on GF surface and greatly improved 2-electron ORR activity. The H₂O₂ can be further co-activated by Fe²⁺ and DASs into •OH_{(ads and free)} and •O₂^- to efficiently degrade NOR. The treated GF with 20 min anodizing and 1 h HNO₃ ultrasound had the highest electrocatalytic activity in a wide electric potential (-0.4 V to -0.8 V) and pH range (3-9) in system and the efficient removal rate of NOR was basically maintained after 5 cycles. Under optimal reaction conditions, 50 mg L^-1 NOR achieved 93% degradation and almost 63% of NOR was completely mineralized within 120 min. The possible NOR degradation pathways and ecotoxicity of intermediates were analyzed by LC-MS and T.E.S.T. theoretical calculation. This paper provided the underlying insights into designing a high-efficiency carbon-based cathode materials for commercial antibiotic wastewater treatment.

A review on bismuth-based nanocomposites for energy and environmental applications

Bismuth, a heavy metal which is found to be inexpensive and at a reduced cost, is utilized in the synthesis of different nanomaterials with novel structure, remarkable physical and chemical properties, adjustable bandgap, notable efficiency for photothermal conversion. These characteristics have made this element desirable for various applications such as storage and conversion of energy, electronics, sensors, photocatalysis, and other biomedical applications. These review papers are the vital points for the students, this report guides them to the research papers which focus on the impressive development in the area of bismuth and similar nanostructures. The purpose of the present review is to discuss the various synthesis routes of bismuth-based nanomaterials along with green synthesis, different nanostructures of bismuth, their significant properties, diverse applications and directions for the upcoming research. Therefore, with these different tuneable synthesis methods of bismuth-based nanomaterials combined with their novel properties, would elucidate on the future devices based on various nanostructures of bismuth.

Synergistic Mechanism of Photocatalysis and Photo-Fenton by Manganese Ferrite and Graphene Nanocomposite Supported on Wood Ash with Real Sunlight Irradiation

The present research aimed to evaluate the photocatalytic activity of reduced graphene oxide and manganese ferrite nanocomposite supported on eucalyptus wood ash waste (WA) from industrial boilers, for the decolorization of methylene blue (MB) solutions, using sunlight as an irradiation source. For this, the photocatalyst named MnFe2O4-G@WA was synthesized by a solvothermal method and characterized by analyzes of scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller and zeta potential. Firstly, the photocatalyst was evaluated for photocatalytic decolorization of MB under different reaction conditions. Then, the influence of pH, photocatalyst dose and H2O2 was evaluated. MnFe2O4-G@WA showed 94% of efficiency for photocatalytic decolorization of MB under operating conditions of solar irradiation, 0.25 g/L of catalyst, 300 mg/L of H2O2. The proposed degradation reaction mechanism suggested that the photodegradation of MB was through a synergistic mechanism of photocatalysis and photo-Fenton reactions, with the combined action of the three materials used. The data adjusted to the first order kinetics from the Langmuir–Hinshelwood model. In addition, MnFe2O4-G@WA showed high stability, maintaining its efficiency above 90% after 5 cycles. The results indicated that the nanophotocatalyst is a potential technology for the decolorization of MB solutions.

Excellent performance separation of trypsin by novel ternary magnetic composite adsorbent based on betaine-urea- glycerol natural deep eutectic solvent modified MnFe2O4-MWCNTs

The effective trypsin purification methods should be established since trypsin plays a crucial role in biosome. In this work, a novel ternary magnetic composite adsorbent (MnFe₂O₄-MWCNTs@B-U-G) with the features of strong specific selectivity, good adsorption effect, simple and efficient separation process, no secondary pollution brought in was prepared by integrating the superior physicochemical properties of ternary based natural deep eutectic solvent, multi-walled carbon nanotubes and MnFe₂O₄. The property, composition and microtopography structure of MnFe₂O₄-MWCNTs@B-U-G were characterized in detail. Combined with magnetic solid-phase extraction, MnFe₂O₄-MWCNTs@B-U-G was utilized to adsorb trypsin. Response surface methodology experiment was prepared under Box-Behnken design to optimize the adsorption conditions and the results showed that the practical maximum adsorption capacity for trypsin was 1020.1 mg g^-1. Besides, the adsorption isotherms, adsorption kinetics, regeneration studies and method validation studies were investigated systematically to evaluate the established adsorption separation system. Mechanism exploration proved that electrostatic interaction, hydrogen bonding interaction and chelation interaction were the dominant forces for the high-performance adsorption of trypsin. The activity of trypsin after elution had been analyzed by UV-vis spectrophotometer and CD spectrometer with three methods, which illustrated that the enzyme activity, conformation and secondary structure of trypsin did not change significantly during the adsorption-desorption process. In addition, the proposed method was successful and practical applicability to isolation trypsin from crude bovine pancreas. As a result, due to the superiority of the MnFe₂O₄-MWCNTs@B-U-G, the proposed method not only exhibites high-performance adsorption of trypsin, but also provides a green and sustainable potential value in the adsorption of biomacromolecule.

Applications of Heterogeneous Photocatalysis to the Degradation of Oxytetracycline in Water: A Review

Photocatalytic processes are being studied extensively as potential advanced wastewater treatments for the removal of pharmaceuticals, pesticides and other recalcitrant micropollutants from the effluents of conventional wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). Oxytetracycline (OTC) is a widespread antibiotic which is frequently detected in surface water bodies as a recalcitrant and persistent micropollutant. This review provides an update on advances in heterogeneous photocatalysis for the degradation of OTC in water under UV light, sunlight and visible-light irradiation. Photocatalysts based on pure semiconducting oxides are rarely used, due to the problem of rapid recombination of electron–hole pairs. To overcome this issue, a good strategy could be the coupling of two different semiconducting compounds with different conduction and valence bands. Several methods are described to enhance the performances of catalysts, such as doping of the oxide with metal and/or non-metal elements, surface functionalization, composites and nano-heterojunction. Furthermore, a discussion on non-oxidic photocatalysts is briefly provided, focusing on the application of graphene-based nanocomposites for the effective treatment of OTC.

Photocatalytic Degradation of Orange G Dye by Using Bismuth Molybdate: Photocatalysis Optimization and Modeling via Definitive Screening Designs

In the current study, Bismuth molybdate was synthesized using simple co-precipitation procedure, and their characterization was carried out by various methods such as FT-IR, SEM, and P-XRD. Furthermore, the photocatalytic degradation of Orange G (ORG) dye using synthesized catalyst under visible light irradiation was studied. Response surface Method was used for the optimization of process variables and degradation kinetics evaluated by modeling of experimental data. Based on the experimental design outcomes, the first-order model was proven as a practical correlation between selected factors and response. Further ANOVA analysis has revealed that only two out of six factors have a significant effect on ORG degradation, however ORG concentration and irradiation time indicated the significant effects sequentially. Maximum ORG degradation of approximately 96% was achieved by keeping process parameters in range, such as 1 g L-1 loading of catalyst, 50 mg L-1 concentration of ORG, 1.4 mol L-1 concentration of H2O2 at pH 7 and a temperature of 30 °C. Kinetics of ORG degradation followed the pseudo first order, and almost complete degradation was achieved within 8 h. The effectiveness of the Bi2MoO6/H2O2 photo-Fenton system in degradation reactions is due to the higher number of photo-generated e- available on the catalyst surface as a result of their ability to inhibit recombination of e- and h+ pair.

Efficient antibiotics removal via the synergistic effect of manganese ferrite and MoS2

The use of antibiotics for beings is a most significant milestone in present era. However, owing to the excessive use, a large amount of antibiotics accumulated in water, leading to serious pollution. An efficient method is urgently needed to treat the antibiotics pollution. Photo-Fenton process is a green method with utilizing solar energy. Catalyst is important. This work combines manganese ferrite MnFe₂O₄ and MoS₂ to synthesize MnFe₂O₄-MoS₂ (FMG) composite as the catalyst of photo-Fenton process, which shows good performance on tetracycline antibiotics degradation. Light intensity exhibits positive correlation with the catalytic activity. h⁺, •OH and ¹O₂ participate in tetracycline degradation. h⁺ plays a key role in tetracycline removal. •OH has a little impact on tetracycline removal, but it has a great impact on the mineralization ability of this photo-Fenton process. Additionally, cycling experiments confirm the stability of FMG. And owing to its magnetism, FMG can be easily recycled by external magnetic field. This photo-Fenton process over FMG with utilizing the synergism of MnFe₂O₄ and MoS₂ is a promising method for antibiotics pollution treatment.

Degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride in aqueous via combined dielectric barrier discharge plasma and Fe-Mn doped AC

Dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma coupled with Fe-Mn doped AC (Fe-Mn/AC) was used to enhance the degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) wastewater. Fe-Mn/AC catalysts with different Fe/Mn molar ratios were prepared by hydrothermal method, and the physical and chemical properties of the samples were explored by different characterization techniques, including XRD, SEM, TEM and XPS. The results showed that the combination of DBD with Fe₂-Mn₁/AC system had the highest effect, and the degradation efficiency of TCH could reach 98.8 % after 15 min treatment, which was 25.5 % higher than that of DBD-only. With the increase of discharge voltage and catalyst dosage, the degradation efficiency of TCH promoted. And initial pH had little effect on the degradation of TCH. In the combined system, the Fe₂-Mn₁/AC catalyst could retain an excellent stability and reusability. The addition of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) showed that ·OH participated in the TCH degradation. The generated O₃ might be catalyzed by Fe-Mn/AC catalyst to produce more ·OH. And more H₂O₂ was produced in DBD-only system than that in DBD-catalytic system. Nine main degradation intermediate products in the combined system were detected by HPLC-MS, and three possible degradation pathways were proposed.

Stable and Efficient Photoinduced Charge Transfer of MnFe2O4/Polyaniline Photoelectrode in Highly Acidic Solution

Tailoring conductive polymers with inorganic photocatalysts, which provide photoinduced electron-hole generation, have significantly enhanced composites leading to excellent photoelectrodes. In this work, MnFe2O4 nanoparticles prepared by a hydrothermal method were combined with polyaniline to prepare mixed (hybrid) slurries, which were cast onto flexible FTO to prepare photoelectrodes. The resulting photoelectrodes were characterized by XRD, FESEM, HRTEM and UV-VIS. The photoelectrochemical performance was investigated by linear sweep voltammetry and chronoamperometry. The photocurrent achieved by MnFe2O4/Polyaniline was 400 μA/cm2 at 0.8 V vs. Ag/AgCl in Na2SO4 (pH = 2) at 100 mW/cm2, while polyaniline alone achieved only 25 μA/cm2 under the same conditions. The best MnFe2O4/Polyaniline displayed an incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency (IPCE) and applied bias photon-to-current efficiency (ABPE) of 60% at 405 nm wavelength, and 0.17% at 0.8 V vs. Ag/AgCl, respectively. High and stable photoelectrochemical performance was achieved for more than 900 s in an acidic environment.

An efficient and magnetically recoverable g-C3N4/ZnS/CoFe2O4 nanocomposite for sustainable photodegradation of organic dye under UV-visible light illumination

Effective improvement of an easily recoverable photocatalyst is equally vital to its photocatalytic performance from a practical application view. The magnetically recoverable process is one of the easiest ways, provided the photocatalyst is magnetically strong enough to respond to an external magnetic field. Herein, we prepared graphitic carbon nitride nanosheet (g-C₃N₄), and ZnS quantum dots (QDs) supported ferromagnetic CoFe₂O₄ nanoparticles (NPs) as the gC₃N₄/ZnS/CoFe₂O₄ nanohybrid photocatalyst by a wet-impregnation method. The loading of CoFe₂O₄ NPs in the g-C₃N₄/ZnS nanohybrid resulted in extended visible light absorption. The ferromagnetic g-C₃N₄/ZnS/CoFe₂O₄ nanohybrid exhibited better visible-light-active photocatalytic performance (97.11%) against methylene blue (MB) dye, and it was easily separable from the aqueous solution by an external bar magnet. The g-C₃N₄/ZnS/CoFe₂O₄ nanohybrid displayed excellent photostability and reusability after five consecutive cycles. The favourable band alignment and availability of a large number of active sites affected the better charge separation and enhanced photocatalytic response. The role of active species involved in the degradation of MB dye during photocatalyst by g-C₃N₄/ZnS/CoFe₂O₄ nanohybrid was also investigated. Overall, this study provides a facile method for design eco-friendly and promising g-C₃N₄/ZnS/CoFe₂O₄ nanohybrid photocatalyst as applicable in the eco-friendly dye degradation process.

Enhanced 4-FP removal with MnFe2O4 catalysts under dielectric barrier discharge plasma: Economical synthesis, catalytic performance and degradation mechanism

The dielectric barrier discharge plasma (DBDP) process has received extensive attention for the removal of organic contaminants from water. A novel microwave-assisted hydrothermal method was used to easily and rapidly synthesize MnFe₂O₄ catalysts. Based on the DBDP process, MnFe₂O₄ can enhance 4-fluorophenol (4-FP) abatement from 44.15% to 58.78% through the catalysis within 18 min. Then, the adjunction of O₃ generated by discharge can further boost 4-FP degradation to 94.94%. After the whole optimization process is complete, the associated pseudo-first-order reaction kinetic constant and energy efficiency were enhanced from 0.0327 to 0.1536 min^-1 and 2067.13 mg kW h^-1 to 4444.75 mg kW h^-1, respectively. With the help of the condition, blank and radical capture experiments, the catalytic performance caused by MnFe₂O₄ and O₃ was attributed to the joint action of Fenton-like reactions, photocatalysis (ultraviolet, UV), photoassisted Fenton reactions and O₃ catalysis. The overall downward trend of the possible intermediate toxicities indicated that the DBDP/MnFe₂O₄/O₃ process can effectively remove and mineralize 4-FP without the generation of more toxic intermediates. In addition, during the 5 cycles, MnFe₂O₄ can maintain excellent recovery, efficiency and durability. In summary, the coupling of discharge plasma and MnFe₂O₄ sheds new light on catalysis for wastewater treatment.

Kinetic Modeling for Photo-Assisted Penicillin G Degradation of (Mn0.5Zn0.5)[CdxFe2-x]O4 (x ≤ 0.05) Nanospinel Ferrites

Penicillin G is an old and widely used antibiotic. Its persistence in the environment started to appear in many environmental samples and food chains. The removal of these emerging pollutants has been a challenging task for scientists in the last decades. The photocatalytic properties of Cd²⁺ doped Manganese- Zinc NSFs with chemical formula (Mn_0.5Zn_0.5)[Cd_xFe_2−x]O₄ (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 0.05) NSFs are herein evaluated. The Manganese- Zinc N.S.F.s nanomaterials were deeply characterized, utilizing UV-Vis (reflectance) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, N₂ adsorption isotherm measurements, and S.E.M., SEM-EDX mapping, and T.E.M. The Kinetic model for the photodegradation of penicillin G (as a model molecule) is investigated using visible light as a source of energy. The kinetic study shows that our results fit well with the modified pseudo-first-order model. The Pen G degradation are 88.73%, 66.65%, 44.70%, 37.62% and 24.68% for x = 0.5, 0.4, 0.3, 0.2 and 0.1, respectively, against 14.68% for the free Cd spinel sample. The pseudo-rate constant is bandgap dependent. From the intra-diffusion rate constant (K_d), we developed an intra-diffusion time (τ) model, which decreases exponentially as a function of (x) and mainly shows the existence of three different domains versus cadmium coordination in spinel ferrite samples. Hence, Cadmium’s presence generates spontaneous polarization with a strong opportunity to monitor the charge separation and then open the route to a new generation of “assisted” photocatalysts under visible light.

An eco-friendly and simple sol-gel autocombustion method for synthesis of copper hexaferrite nanostructures: characterization and photocatalytic activity for elimination of water contaminations

In this work, copper hexaferrite (CuFe₁₂O₁₉) nanostructures are successfully synthesized by the sol-gel autocombustion route. Two natural reagents containing pomegranate and beetroot juices are used as green and eco-friendly fuels for synthesis of the nanostructures. The nanostructures are characterized by different techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). The results show an appropriate amount of pomegranate juice as a fuel source creating a suitable route for synthesis of CuFe₁₂O₁₉ nanostructures. Therefore, the nanostructures are applied for degradation of different water contaminants containing eosin, erythrosine, rhodamin B, and methyl violet dyes. The comparison of the results shows that the nanostructures are a good photocatalyst for degradation of erythrosine. Therefore, green CuFe₁₂O₁₉ nanostructures can be a good candidate as UV light catalyst for removal of wastewater contaminations.

Emerging Hybrid Nanocomposite Photocatalysts for the Degradation of Antibiotics: Insights into Their Designs and Mechanisms

The raising occurrence of antibiotics in the global water bodies has received the emerging concern due to their potential threats of generating the antibiotic-resistive and genotoxic effects into humans and aquatic species. In this direction, the solar energy assisted photocatalytic technique offers a promising solution to address such emerging concern and paves ways for the complete degradation of antibiotics with the generation of less or non-toxic by-products. Particularly, the designing of hybrid photocatalyticcomposite materials has been found to show higher antibiotics degradation efficiencies. As the hybrid photocatalysts are found as the systems with ideal characteristic properties such as superior structural, surface and interfacial properties, they offer enhanced photoabsorbance, charge-separation, -transfer, redox properties, photostability and easy recovery. In this context, this review study presents an overview on the recent developments in the designing of various hybrid photocatalytic systems and their efficiency towards the degradation of various emerging antibiotic pharmaceutical contaminants in water environments.

Effective treatment of levofloxacin wastewater by an electro-Fenton process with hydrothermal-activated graphite felt as cathode

The performance of the cathode significantly affects the ability of the electro-Fenton (EF) process to degrade chemicals. In this study, a simple method to modify the graphite felt (GF) cathode was proposed, i.e. oxidizing GF by hydrothermal treatment in nitric acid. The surface physical and electrochemical properties of modified graphite felt were characterized by several techniques: scanning electron microscope (SEM), water contact angle, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman spectroscopy and linear scanning voltammetry (LSV). Compared with an unmodified GF (GF-0), the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) activity of a modified GF was significantly improved due to the introduction of more oxygen-containing functional groups (OGs). Furthermore, the results showed that GF was optimally modified after 9 h (GF-9) of treatment. As an example, the H₂O₂ generation by GF-9 was 2.26 times higher than that of GF-0. After optimizing the process parameters, which include the initial Fe²⁺ concentration and current density, the apparent degradation rate constant of levofloxacin (LEV) could reach as high as 0.40 min^-1. Moreover, the total organic carbon (TOC) removal rate and mineralization current efficiency (MCE) of the modified cathode were much higher than that of the GF-0. Conclusively, GF-9 is a promising cathode for the future development in organic pollutant removal via EF.

Solar light harvest: modified d-block metals in photocatalysis

With solar light, modified d-block metal photocatalysts are useful in areas where electricity is insufficient, with its chemical stability during the photocatalytic process, and its low-cost and nontoxicity.

Hierarchically structured ternary heterojunctions based on Ce3+/ Ce4+ modified Fe3O4 nanoparticles anchored onto graphene oxide sheets as magnetic visible-light-active photocatalysts for decontamination of oxytetracycline

The main prerequisite of an active visible-light-driven photocatalyst is to effectively utilize the visible light to induce electron-hole (e^-/h⁺) pairs of expanded lifetime. To this end, for the first time, the ternary heterojunctions of CeO₂/Fe₃O₄ /Graphene oxide and Ce³⁺/ Fe₃O₄ /Graphene oxide (CeO₂/Fe₃O₄/GO and Fe_2.8Ce_0.2O₄/GO) were prepared via facile ultrasonic-assisted procedures and employed for destruction of oxytetracycline (OTC) under visible light irradiation. The changes in the relative crystal structure, morphology, atomic and surface functional group composition, magnetic, and optic properties of magnetite were uncovered by various techniques. The substantial degradation and mineralization of OTC via visible light/Fe_2.8Ce_0.2O₄/GO system were thoroughly discussed in terms of narrowed band gap energy, the principal function of Ce³⁺/Ce⁴⁺ and Fe²⁺/Fe³⁺ redox pairs and GO platelets, enhanced charge separation and transfer, and enlarged active surface area. Furthermore, the performance of visible light/Fe_2.8Ce_0.2O₄/GO system was evaluated for treating real wastewater and its efficiency was investigated using a number of enhancers and scavengers. Finally, the generated byproducts in the course of photodegradation were determined and the oxidation pathway, photocatalytic kinetics, and plausible mechanism were proposed. The results confirmed that the introduced Ce ions and graphene oxide sheets boost the photo-catalytic efficiency of magnetite for photodegradation of OTC.

Construction of plasmonic Ag modified phosphorous-doped ultrathin g-C3N4 nanosheets/BiVO4 photocatalyst with enhanced visible-near-infrared response ability for ciprofloxacin degradation

To realize the full utilization of solar energy, the design of highly efficient photocatalyst with improved visible-near-infrared photocatalysis performance has attracted great attentions for environment pollutant removal. In this work, we rationally employed the surface plasmon resonance effect of metallic Ag in the phosphorus doped ultrathin g-C₃N₄ nanosheets (PCNS) and BiVO₄ composites to construct a ternary Ag@PCNS/BiVO₄ photocatalyst. It was applied for the photodegradation of ciprofloxacin (CIP), exhibiting 92.6% removal efficiency under visible light irradiation (λ>420nm) for 10mg/L CIP, and presenting enhanced photocatalytic ability than that of single component or binary nanocomposites under near-infrared light irradiation (λ>760nm). The improved photocatalytic activity of the prepared Ag@PCNS/BiVO₄ nanocomposite can be attributed to the synergistic effect among the PCNS, BiVO₄ and Ag, which not only improves the visible light response ability and hinders the recombination efficiency of the photogenerated electrons and holes, but also retains the strong the redox ability of the photogenerated charges. According to the trapping experiment and ESR measurements results, OH, h⁺ and O₂^- all participated in the photocatalytic degradation process. Considering the SPR effect of metallic Ag and the established local electric field around the interfaces, a dual Z-scheme electrons transfer mechanism was proposed.

Graphene-based materials supported advanced oxidation processes for water and wastewater treatment: a review

Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) received much attention in the field of water and wastewater treatment due to its ability to mineralize persistent organic pollutants from water medium. The addition of graphene-based materials increased the efficiency of all AOPs significantly. The present review analyzes the performance of graphene-based materials that supported AOPs in detail. Recent developments in this field are highlighted. A special focus has been awarded for the performance enhancement mechanism of AOPs in the presence of graphene-based materials.
