Abstract
Alkylphenylacetylene derivatives were synthesized and used as reactants in the Larock heteroannulation reaction to investigate the steric influence on regioselectivity. Large alkyl groups preferentially yielded 2-alkyl-3-phenylindole products, while smaller alkyl groups provided 3-alkyl-2-phenylindole as major products. The logarithm of regioisomeric product ratios exhibited good correlations with various steric parameters. Notably, the Charton values provided the best correlation when excluding the cyclopropyl group. In addition, the Boltzmann-weighted Sterimol parameter (wSterimol) was utilized to generate a good predictive model, indicating the B1 wSterimol as the significant regiochemical determining parameter with no obvious deviation for the cyclopropyl group. Relative atomic distances within the DFT-optimized transition state structures revealed good correlations with the logarithm of regioisomeric ratios. Furthermore, the cyclopropyl adsorption complex indicated electronic contribution, explaining the peculiar behavior of this substituent in the experimental observation.

Abstract
McMurry coupling reaction utilizes the low-valent titanium reagents and carbonyl compounds to produce olefins. The wide synthetic application of McMurry reagents in intermolecular and intramolecular coupling reactions, tandem coupling reactions, and keto ester coupling reactions of carbonyl compounds for the last five years have been reviewed. The resulting coupling reaction produces natural and non-natural products, including strained olefins and unusual molecules as a candidate for nanomaterials, pharmaceuticals, electronic materials, and so forth. The advantages, scope, and limitations along with the improvement of the McMurry coupling reaction, including the addition of high functional group compatibility, McMurry reagents substitution, and several other treatments, have also been discussed. McMurry coupling reaction utilizes the low-valent titanium reagents and carbonyl compounds to produce olefins.![]()

Abstract
Propargyl alcohols, on treatment with MHMDS (M=Na, K), B2 (pin)2 , an acid chloride and a palladium/copper co-catalyst system, undergo a reaction cascade comprised of trans-diboration, regioselective acylation, cyclization and dehydration to give trisubstituted furylboronic acid pinacol ester derivatives in good yields; subsequent Suzuki coupling allows a fourth substituent of choice to be introduced and hence tetrasubstituted (arylated) furans to be formed. In terms of modularity, the method seems unrivaled, not least because each product can be attained by two orthogonal but convergent ways ("diagonal split"). This asset is illustrated by the "serial" formation of a "library" of all twelve possible furan isomers that result from systematic permutation of four different substituents about the heterocyclic core.

Abstract
BACKGROUND A wide variety of biological activities are exhibited by N, O and S containing heterocycles and recently, many reports appeared for the synthesis of these heterocycles. The synthesis of heterocycles with the help of metal and non-metal catalyst has become a highly rewarding and important method in organic synthesis. This review article concentrated on the synthesis of S-heterocylces in the presence of metal and non-metal catalyst. The synthesis of five-membered S-heterocycles is described here. OBJECTIVE There is a need for the development of rapid, efficient and versatile strategy for the synthesis of heterocyclic rings. Metal, non-metal and organocatalysis involving methods have gained prominence because traditional conditions have disadvantages such as long reaction times, harsh conditions and limited substrate scope. CONCLUSION The metal-, non-metal-, and organocatalyst assisted organic synthesis is a highly dynamic research field. For ßthe chemoselective and efficient synthesis of heterocyclic molecules, this protocol has emerged as a powerful route. Various methodologies in the past few years have been pointed out to pursue more sustainable, efficient and environmentally benign procedures and products. Among these processes, the development of new protocols (catalysis), which avoided the use of toxic reagents, are the focus of intense research.

Abstract
Indium(III) halides catalyze the hydroalkoxylation reaction of ortho-alkynylphenols to afford benzo[ b]furans in good yields. The reaction proceeds with 5- endo- dig regioselectivity with a variety of phenols functionalized at the arene and alkyne moieties in high yields using InI3 (5 mol %) in DCE. Experimental and computational studies support a mechanism based on the indium(III) π-Lewis acid activation of the alkyne followed by nucleophilic addition of the phenol and final protodemetalation to afford the corresponding benzo[ b]furan. DFT calculations suggest that dimer In2I6 is the catalytic species through a novel double coordination with the alkyne and the hydroxyl group.

Abstract
Heterobiaryls consisting of a phenol and a benzofuran motif are of significant importance for pharmaceutical applications. An attractive sustainable, metal- and reagent-free, electrosynthetic, and highly efficient method, that allows access to (2-hydroxyphenyl)benzofurans is presented. Upon the electrochemical dehydrogenative C-C cross-coupling reaction, a metathesis of the benzo moiety at the benzofuran occurs. This gives rise to a substitution pattern at the hydroxyphenyl moiety which would not be compatible by a direct coupling process. The single-step protocol is easy to conduct in an undivided electrolysis cell, therefore scalable, and inherently safe.

Abstract
A titanium(III)-catalyzed radical cyclization to unprotected 3-aminoindoles, 3-aminopyrroles, or 3-iminoindolines is reported. The reaction is non-hazardous, scalable, and allows facile isolation of the free products by extraction. The method is demonstrated on a large substrate scope and it further allows the direct installation of various nitrogen protecting groups or the synthesis of building blocks for peptide chemistry in a single sequence. Fused bisindoles can be directly accessed from the cyclization products.

Abstract
Hexachlorodisilane reacts with diarylmethanones (aryl=C6 H5 , 4-MeC6 H4 , 4-tBuC6 H4 , 4-ClC6 H4 , 4-BrC6 H4 ) to furnish the corresponding tetraarylethylenes in good yields. The reductive conversion requires temperatures of about 160 °C and reaction times of 60-72 h. In the initial step, the Lewis-basic carbonyl groups likely generate low-valent [SiCl2 ] as an analogue of [TiCl2 ] in the classical McMurry reaction. The coupling sequence further proceeds via benzopinacolones, which have been isolated as key intermediates.

Abstract
α-Methylacyl-CoA racemase (AMACR; P504S) catalyses a key step in the degradation of branched-chain fatty acids and is important for the pharmacological activation of Ibuprofen and related drugs. Levels of AMACR are increased in prostate and other cancers, and it is a drug target. Development of AMACR as a drug target is hampered by lack of a convenient assay. AMACR irreversibly catalyses the elimination of HF from 3-fluoro-2-methylacyl-CoA substrates, and this reaction was investigated for use as an assay. Several known inhibitors and alternative substrates reduced conversion of 3-fluoro-2-methyldecanoyl-CoA by AMACR, as determined by (1)H NMR. The greatest reduction of activity was observed with known potent inhibitors. A series of novel acyl-CoA esters with aromatic side chains were synthesised for testing as chromophoric substrates. These acyl-CoA esters were converted to unsaturated products by AMACR, but their use was limited by non-enzymatic elimination. Fluoride sensors were also investigated as a method of quantifying released fluoride and thus AMACR activity. These sensors generally suffered from high background signal and lacked reproducibility under the assay conditions. In summary, the elimination reaction can be used to characterise inhibitors, but it was not possible to develop a convenient colorimetric or fluorescent assay using 3-fluoro-2-methylacyl-CoA substrates.

Abstract
Intramolecular hydrogen bond (HB) formation was analyzed in the model compounds N-(2-benzoylphenyl)acetamide, N-(2-benzoylphenyl)oxalamate and N1,N2-bis(2-benzoylphenyl)oxalamide. The formation of three-center hydrogen bonds in oxalyl derivatives was demonstrated in the solid state by the X-ray diffraction analysis of the geometric parameters associated with the molecular structures. The solvent effect on the chemical shift of H6 [δH6(DMSO-d6)–δH6(CDCl3)] and Δδ(ΝΗ)/ΔT measurements, in DMSO-d6 as solvent, have been used to establish the energetics associated with intramolecular hydrogen bonding. Two center intramolecular HB is not allowed in N-(2-benzoylphenyl)acetamide either in the solid state or in DMSO-d6 solution because of the unfavorable steric effects of the o-benzoyl group. The estimated ΔHº and ΔSº values for the hydrogen bonding disruption by DMSO-d6 of 28.3(0.1) kJ·mol−1 and 69.1(0.4) J·mol−1·K−1 for oxalamide, are in agreement with intramolecular three-center hydrogen bonding in solution. In the solid, the benzoyl group contributes to develop 1-D and 2-D crystal networks, through C–H∙∙∙A (A = O, π) and dipolar C=O∙∙∙A (A = CO, π) interactions, in oxalyl derivatives. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first example where three-center hydrogen bond is claimed to overcome steric constraints.

Abstract
This method describes the results of the optimized conditions for the one-pot synthesis of benzo[b]furans/nitro benzo[b]furans via Sonogashira coupling-5-endo-dig-cyclization under ultrasonic irradiation at ambient temperature in the absence of copper, ligand and amine. The protocol tolerates wide range of functional groups present in both the coupling components, especially base labile nitro group was not affected under these mild conditions giving excellent yields of the nitro benzo[b]furans. The formation of Pd(0) nanoparticles as the active species has been shown by TEM analysis and the unique role of ultrasound in promoting the total sonochemical protocol has been substantiated by way of control experiments.

Abstract
A direct two-step method for the preparation of 2-aryl- and 2-vinyl-4-quinolones that utilizes a copper-catalyzed amidation of o-halophenones followed by a base-promoted Camps cyclization of the resulting N-(2-ketoaryl)amides is described. With CuI, a diamine ligand, and base as the catalyst system, the amidation reactions proceed in good yields for a range of aryl, heteroaryl, and vinyl amides. The subsequent Camps cyclization efficiently provides the desired 4-quinolones with the conditions that are described.
