Abstract
Point of care testing (POCT) of nucleic acid (NA) contributes to the timely disease diagnosis, like bacteria and virus screening in households or resource-constrained areas, but its development has always been stagnant. Herein, we proposed an exonuclease III cascaded with CRISPR/Cas12a (Exo-III/Cas12a) amplification strategy and constructed a smartphone-based portable fluorescence detector (SPFD) to repurpose the commercial alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) strip for the ultrasensitive and hand-held detection of NA samples. In detail, the target-initiated-Exo-III/Cas12a strategy realizes the signal amplification and liberates AFP from magnetic beads through the trans-cleavages of activated Cas12a toward the AFP aptamer. After magnetic separation and migration, the fluorescence signals of the test (FT) and control (FC) lines on the AFP strip were digitally output by the SPFD, and the FT/FC was employed for the quantitative analysis to minimize external disturbances and improve accuracy. We experimentally assessed the universe applicability of the proposed NA-POCT platform toward miRNA-155, 16S rRNA of Staphylococcus aureus, and ORF1a/b RNA of Covid-19 pseudovirus, achieving favorable detection limits of 42 aM, 18 CFU/mL, and 87 copies/μL, respectively. Moreover, its simplicity, universality, and admirable detection performance demonstrate a great potential in the aspect of rapidly transforming the existing POCT devices for multiple new applications at the time of need.

Abstract
The conventional electrochemical detection strategy for alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is limited by the antigen-antibody (Ag-Ab) reactions and suffers from low sensitivity and poor reproducibility due to the inconsistency of Ab-modified electrodes. Herein, we designed and explored a sandwich-type electrochemical sensor for highly sensitive detection of AFP based on aptamer (Apt)-AFP-Ab interaction mode with silver@gold (Ag@Au) core-shell nanoparticles (NPs) as a signal amplifier. AuNPs were electrodeposited onto MXene (Ti3C2TX)-modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) to get AuNPs/MXene/GCE and further used as the signal amplification substrate. The tetrahedral DNA-linked AFP aptamers were immobilized onto AuNPs/MXene/GCE surface via Au-S bonds and used as the sensing and recognition platform for AFP capturing. Ag@AuNPs with core-shell structures were synthesized, characterized, and bound with Ab as detection elements by catalyzing H2O2 reduction. In the presence of AFP, a stable Apt-AFP-Ab sandwich structure was formed owing to the high affinities of aptamer and Ab toward the target AFP. The catalytic current produced by H2O2 reduction increased linearly with the logarithm of AFP concentration from 5 × 10-4 ng/mL to 1 × 105 ng/mL, accompanied by a low detection limit (1.6 × 10-4 ng/mL). Moreover, the novel sandwich-type electrochemical sensor shows high sensitivity, outstanding selectivity, and promising performance in the analysis of actual samples, displaying a broad application prospect in bioanalysis.

Abstract
The high level of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) expression is closely related to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Herein, a dual signal ratiometric electrochemical immunosensor based on chitosan-ferrocenecarboxaldehyde-spindle gold (Chit-Fc-SAu) and Co/Fe metal-organic framework-toluidine blue/polydopamine (Co/Fe MOF-TB/PDA) was proposed for quantitative analysis of AFP. Specifically, Chit-Fc-SAu worked as a substrate to trap more primary antibodies (Ab1) generating the first electrochemical signal from Fc. Thanks to the large specific surface area, the synergistic and electronic effects of Co/Fe MOF nanosheets, and the rich functional groups of PDA, Co/Fe MOF-TB/PDA could load more secondary antibodies (Ab2) and signal molecules (TB) providing another amplified electrochemical signal. In the presence of AFP, Ab1-AFP-Ab2 formed a sandwich structure, and as the AFP concentration increased, the peak current ratio of TB to Fc (ITB/IFc) also increased. The dual signal ratiometric strategy can avoid environmental signal interference and achieve signal self-calibration, thereby improving the accuracy and reproducibility of detection. After a series of exploration, this self-calibrated ratiometric immunosensor exhibited a wide linear range (0.001-200 ng mL-1), a low detection limit (0.34 pg mL-1), and good repeatability. When applied to the assay of clinical serum samples, the detection results of ratiometric sensor were consistent with that of commercial electrochemiluminescence (ECL) immunoassay, significantly superior to that of non-ratiometric sensor. The self-calibrated strategy based on ratiometric sensor helps to improve the accuracy of AFP in clinical diagnosis.

Abstract
Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a glycoprotein that has many important physiological functions, including transportation, immunosuppression, and induction of apoptosis by T lymphocytes. AFP is closely related to the development of hepatocellular carcinoma and many kinds of tumors, all of which can show high concentrations, so it is used as a positive test indicator for many kinds of tumors. This paper reviews recent advances in the detection of the tumor marker AFP based on three immuno-biosensors: electrochemical (EC), photoelectrochemical (PEC), and electrochemical luminescence (ECL). The electrodes are modified by different materials or homemade composites, different signaling molecules are selected as single probes or dual probes for the detection of AFP. The detection limit was as low as 3 fg/mL, which indicated that the AFP immunosensor had achieved highly sensitive detection. In addition, we also reviewed and summarized the current development status and application prospect of AFP immunoelectrochemical sensors. There are not too many researches on immunosensors based on dual-signal ratios, and the commonly used probes are methylene blue (MB) and ferrocene (Fc). It would be more innovative to have more novel signaling molecules as probes to prepare dual-signal ratio sensors.

Abstract
Nanofluidic biosensors have been widely used for detection of analytes based on the change of system resistance before and after target-probe interactions. However, their sensitivity is limited when system resistance barely changes toward low-concentration targets. Here, we proposed a strategy to address this issue by means of target-induced change of local membrane potential under relatively unchanged system resistance. The local membrane potential originated from the directional diffusion of photogenerated carriers across nanofluidic biosensors and gated photoinduced ionic current signal before and after target-probe interactions. The sensitivity of such biosensors for the detection of biomolecules such as circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) and lysozyme exceeds that of applying a traditional strategy by more than 3 orders of magnitude under unchanged system resistance. Such biosensors can specifically detect the small molecule biomarker in the blood sample between prostate cancer patients and healthy humans. The key advantages of such nanofluidic biosensors are therefore complementary to traditional nanofluidic biosensors, with potential applications in a point-of-care analytical tool.

Abstract
In recent years, the development of miniature and portable sensors has been a major focus of research. PEC self-powered sensors have emerged as a potential solution to the power supply issue, eliminating the need for external power supplies and operating without bias voltage. This study developed a ZnO/Au/GaN sensor for highly sensitive detection of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP). The sensor uses GaN substrates with nanogold films to provide an auxiliary bias voltage, promoting high photogenerated current density. Using ZnO/Au/GaN as a photoanode resulted in significantly higher photocurrent generated by the sensor compared to Au/GaN or ZnO/ITO alone. To enable selective detection of AFP, antibody modification of the ZnO nanorod arrays was employed. The linear range of the sensor response to AFP was determined to be 0.080-5.0 ng/mL, with an impressively low detection limit of 0.027 ng/mL (S/N = 3). These results demonstrate the potential of this self-powered sensor for detecting AFP content in human serum samples. Overall, this study presents a novel approach for developing highly sensitive and selective self-powered sensors for biomarker detection, which could facilitate early detection and clinical diagnosis of various types of cancer.

Abstract
For rapid and sensitive detection of miRNA-210, which is important for improving the reliability of clinical diagnosis of breast cancer, a dual-signal mode ratiometric photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor based on a Au/GaN photoanode is proposed. First, a DNA probe was designed that could complement the target miRNA-210. Then, another G-rich DNA sequence was designed to mismatch the probe and form a double-stranded DNA (dsDNA). Upon addition of the target, the dsDNA unwinds from its binding site and releases G-rich single-stranded DNA. In the presence of Mg2+ and K+, this single-stranded DNA molecule spontaneously forms a G-quadruplex structure, facilitating the rapid transport of photogenerated holes, thereby increasing the photocurrent response of Au/GaN and enabling sensitive label-free detection of miRNA-210. By control of different pH values, a response signal was generated at pH 8, while a reference signal was produced at pH 5. The designed PEC system shows a high potential for the development of miRNA-210 detection. Ultimately, the response signal-to-reference signal ratio was used as the variable, and a broad linear span ranging from 10 fM to 1 nM (R2 = 0.993) has been exhibited, with a detection threshold of 3 fM (S/N = 3). The designed PEC platform shows potential for the development of other disease markers.

Abstract
Two-dimensional (2D) layered MoS2 has good dispersion and adsorption properties, but being a narrow bandgap semiconductor limits its application in photoelectric sensing. In this study, a homogeneous photoelectrochemical sensor based on three-dimensional (3D) ZnO/Au/2D MoS2 is proposed for the ultrasensitive detection of tetracycline (TET). MoS2 is uniformly embedded on the 3D ZnO/Au surface by ordered self-assembly. The physical method of π-π interaction of MoS2 replaces the conventional use of chemically modifying aptamers on the electrode material surface. Under optimal conditions, this method has been successfully applied to the detection of TET in milk, honey, pig kidney and pork samples with reliable results. We believe that this study presents a method for the preparation of sensing carriers and target detection with great potential for application.

Abstract
Cancer is a common illness with a high mortality. Compared with traditional technologies, biomarker detection, with its low cost and simple operation, has a higher sensitivity and faster speed in the early screening and prognosis of cancer. Therefore, extensive research has focused on the development of biosensors and the construction of sensing interfaces. Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) is a promising two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterial, whose unique adjustable bandgap shows excellent electronic and optical properties in the construction of biosensor interfaces. It not only has the advantages of a high catalytic activity and low manufacturing costs, but it can also further expand the application of hybrid structures through different functionalization, and it is widely used in various biosensors fields. Herein, we provide a detailed introduction to the structure and synthesis methods of MoS2, and explore the unique properties and advantages/disadvantages exhibited by different structures. Specifically, we focus on the excellent properties and application performance of MoS2 and its composite structures, and discuss the widespread application of MoS2 in cancer biomarkers detection from both electrochemical and optical dimensions. Additionally, with the cross development of emerging technologies, we have also expanded the application of other emerging sensors based on MoS2 for early cancer diagnosis. Finally, we summarized the challenges and prospects of MoS2 in the synthesis, functionalization of composite groups, and applications, and provided some insights into the potential applications of these emerging nanomaterials in a wider range of fields.

Abstract
Ultrasensitive determination of tumor marker (TM) is of great significance in cancer prevention and diagnosis. Traditional TM detection methods involve large instrumentation and professional manipulation, which complicate the assay procedures and increase the cost of investment. To resolve these problems, an integrated electrochemical immunosensor based on the flexible polydimethylsiloxane/gold (PDMS/Au) film with Fe-Co metal-organic framework (Fe-Co MOF) as a signal amplifier was fabricated for ultrasensitive determination of alpha fetoprotein (AFP). First, gold layer was deposited on the hydrophilic PDMS film to form the flexible three-electrode system, and then the thiolated aptamer for AFP was immobilized. Afterward, the aminated Fe-Co MOF possessing high peroxidase-like activity and large specific surface area was prepared by a facile solvothermal method, and subsequently the biofunctionalized MOF could effectively capture biotin antibody (Ab) to form MOF-Ab as a signal probe and amplify the electrochemical signal remarkably, thereby realizing highly sensitive detection of AFP with a wide linear range of 0.01-300 ng/mL and a low detection limit of 0.71 pg/mL. In addition, the PDMS based-immunosensor showed good accuracy for assaying of AFP in clinical serum samples. The integrated and flexible electrochemical immunosensor based on the Fe-Co MOF as a signal amplifier demonstrates great potential for application in the personalized point-of-care (POC) clinical diagnosis.

Abstract
New technologies have provided suitable tools for rapid diagnosis of cancer which can reduce treatment costs and even increase patients' survival rates. Recently, the development of electrochemical aptamer-based nanobiosensors has raised great hopes for early, sensitive, selective, and low-cost cancer diagnosis. Here, we reviewed the flagged recent research (2021-2023) developed as a series of biosensors equipped with nanomaterials and aptamer sequences (nanoaptasensors) to diagnose/prognosis of various types of cancers. Equipping these aptasensors with nanomaterials and using advanced biomolecular technologies have provided specified biosensing interfaces for more optimal and reliable detection of cancer biomarkers. The primary intention of this review was to present and categorize the latest innovations used in the design of these diagnostic tools, including the hottest surface modifications and assembly of sensing bioplatforms considering diagnostic mechanisms. The main classification is based on applying various nanomaterials and sub-classifications considered based on the type of analyte and other vital features. This review may help design subsequent electrochemical aptasensors. Likewise, the up-to-date status, remaining limitations, and possible paths for translating aptasensors to clinical cancer assay tools can be clarified.

Abstract
Early cancer identification is crucial for providing patients with safe and timely therapy. Highly dependable and adaptive technologies will be required to detect the presence of biological markers for cancer at very low levels in the early stages of tumor formation. These techniques have been shown to be beneficial in encouraging patients to develop early intervention plans, which could lead to an increase in the overall survival rate of cancer patients. Targeted drug delivery (TDD) using aptamer is promising due to its favorable properties. Aptamer is suitable for superior TDD system candidates due to its desirable properties including a high binding affinity and specificity, a low immunogenicity, and a chemical composition that can be simply changed.Due to these properties, aptamer-based TDD application has limited drug side effect along with organ damages. The development of aptasensor has been promising in TDD for cancer cell treatment. There are biomarkers and expressed molecules during cancer cell development; however, only few are addressed in aptamer detection study of those molecules. Its great potential of attachment of binding to specific target molecule made aptamer a reliable recognition element. Because of their unique physical, chemical, and biological features, aptamers have a lot of potential in cancer precision medicine. In this review, we summarized aptamer technology and its application in cancer. This includes advantages properties of aptamer technology over other molecules were thoroughly discussed. In addition, we have also elaborated the application of aptamer as a direct therapeutic function and as a targeted drug delivery molecule (aptasensor) in cancer cells with several examples in preclinical and clinical trials.

Abstract
The low photon energy and deep penetrating ability of near-infrared (NIR) light make it an ideal light source for a photoelectrochemical (PEC) immunosensing system. Absorption wavelengths of the metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) can be regulated by adjusting the metal ions and the conjugation degree of the ligands. Herein, an ionic liquid with a large conjugated structure was synthesized and was used as a ligand to coordinate with Nd ions to prepare Nd-MOF nanorods with a band gap of 1.26 eV. The Nd-MOF rods show a good photoabsorption property from 200 to 980 nm. A PEC platform was constructed by using Nd-MOF nanorods as the photoelectroactive element. A detachable double-stranded DNA labeled with alkaline phosphatase (ALP), which is specific to VEGF165, was immobilized onto the PEC sensing interface. After blocking unspecific active sites with bovine albumin, an NIR PEC aptasensing system was developed for VEGF165 detection. After being incubated in a mixture of VEGF165, l-ascorbic acid 2-phosphate (magnesium salt hydrate) (AAP), and chloroauric acid, the aptamers for VEGF165 were detached from the PEC aptasensing interface, thus resulting in the decrease of the charge-transfer resistance and the increase of the photocurrent response. The shedding of the aptamers also makes the ALP approach the electrode surface, thus catalyzing the reduction of AAP to produce ascorbic acid (AA). Subsequently, AA reduces in situ chloroauric acid to produce AuNPs on the Nd-MOF-based sensing interface. With the excellent conductivity and localized surface plasmon resonance effect, the AuNPs can accelerate the separation of electron-hole pairs generated from Nd-MOF nanorods, thus promoting the photoelectric conversion efficiency and achieving signal amplification. Under optimized conditions, the PEC responses were linearly related to the VEGF165 concentrations in the range of 0.01-100 ng mL-1 and exhibit a low detection limit of 3.51 pg mL-1 (S/N = 3). VEGF165 in human serum samples was detected by the NIR PEC aptasensor. Their concentrations were found to be well consistent with that obtained from ELISA. Furthermore, the PEC aptasensor demonstrated recoveries from 96.07 to 103.8%. The relative standard deviations were within 5%, indicating good accuracy and precision. The results further verify its practicability for clinical diagnosis.

Abstract
Nowadays, developing a cost-effective, easy-to-operate, and efficient signal amplification platform is of important to microfluidic paper-based analytical devices (μPAD) for end-use markets of point-of-care (POC) assay applications. Herein, an ultrasensitive, paper-based photoelectrochemical (PEC) bioassay platform is constructed by in situ grown ZnO/ZnIn2S4 heterojunctions onto paper fibers, which acted as photoactive signal amplification probes for enhancing the sensitivity of antibodies-based diagnostic assays, for the sensitive detection of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) targets. The crystalline flake-like ZnIn2S4 composited with hexagonal nanorods (NRs) morphology of ZnO is an in situ grown, at the first time, onto cellulose fibers surface supported with Au nanoparticle (Au NP) modification to improve conductivity of the device working zone. The obtained composites on paper fibers are implemented as a flexible paper-based photoelectrode to realize remarkable performance of the fabricated μPAD, resulting from the enhanced PEC activity of heterojunctions with effective electron-hole pair separation for accelerating photoelectric conversion efficiency of the sensing process under light irradiation. Once the target AFP was introduced into the biosensing interface assistant, with a specific recognition interaction of AFP antibody, a drastically photocurrent response was generated, in view of the apparent steric effects. With the concentration increase of AFP targets, more immune conjugates could be confined onto the biosensing interface, eventually leading to the quantitative decrease of photocurrent intensity. Combined with an ingenious origami design and permitting the hydrophobic/hydrophilic conversion procedure in the bioassay process, the ultrasensitive PEC detection of AFP targets was realized. Under the optimized conditions, the level of AFP could be sensitively tracked by the prepared μPAD with a liner range from 0.1 to 100 ng mL-1 and limit of detection of 0.03 ng mL-1. This work provides a great potential application for highly selective and sensitive POC testing of AFP, and finally, developments for clinical disease diagnosis.

Abstract
Tumor biomarkers are of great value in the liquid biopsy of malignant tumors. In this work, a simple and cost-friendly electrochemical aptasensor was presented for the highly sensitive and selective detection of glycoprotein tumor biomarkers. The DNA aptamer-modified electrode was used as the sensing interface to specifically capture the target glycoprotein tumor biomarkers, to which the alkyl halide initiators for atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) were then attached via the esterification crosslinking between the boronic acid group and the cis-dihydroxyl sites of the conjugated oligosaccharide chains on glycoprotein tumor biomarkers followed by the growth of long-chain polymers through electrochemically controlled ATRP (eATRP) to efficiently recruit the ferrocene detection tags. As there are tens to hundreds of cis-dihydroxyl sites on a glycoprotein tumor biomarker for attaching ATRP initiators while each long-chain polymer can recruit hundreds to thousands of ferrocene detection tags, a significantly high current signal can be generated even in the presence of ultralow-abundance targets. Hence, the eATRP-based electrochemical aptasensor is capable of sensitively and selectively detecting glycoprotein tumor biomarkers. Using alpha-fetoprotein as the model target, the limit of detection was demonstrated to be 0.32 pg/mL. Moreover, the aptasensor has been successfully applied to detect glycoprotein tumor biomarkers in human serum samples. In view of its high sensitivity and selectivity, simple operation, and cost-friendliness, the eATRP-based electrochemical aptasensor shows great promise in the glycoprotein-based liquid biopsy of malignant tumors, even at the early stage of development.

Abstract
Aptamer-based methods have attracted increasing interest due to flexible engineering, but their generality is limited by the heterogeneity of signal transduction mechanisms. Given the fact that nonlinear and large molecules are more likely to make the nanosurface overloaded, we investigated a novel signal transduction process to extend the application of aptasensors. In this work, an aptamer complementary element (ACE) is designed with a primer region to serve as the signal probe, which can fully hybridize with an aptamer and be separated by magnetic beads (MBs). Upon target binding, the formed aptamer/target complex is much larger than the linear aptamer/ACE-primer dimer, causing overload of MBs on account of steric hindrance. An extra aptamer/ACE-primer can escape from the surface to the supernatant, which can be amplified by a catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) circle. The size-dependent signal transduction and the modular design endow the method with high generality and flexibility for protein analysis. The proposed aptasensor was successfully applied to the detection of tau proteins ranging from 0.5 to 1000 ng mL-1 with a limit of detection (LOD) as low as 0.254 ng mL-1. The recovery tests in both human serum and cerebra spinal fluid confirmed the high accuracy and stability. Furthermore, a successful distinction was made between AD patients and healthy controls by the method, suggesting the possible applicability for practical analysis of tau proteins.

Abstract
Early diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a leading cause of cancer mortality, is decisive for successful treatment of this type of cancer and increasing the patients' survival rate. Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a glycoprotein that has been currently employed as a potential serological biomarker for determination of HCC and several other cancers. Achieving highly sensitive and specific detection of this biomarker is an effective strategy to inhibit developing issues caused by the cancer. Though, traditional procedures cannot meet the requirements due to the technical drawbacks. Recently, growing number of aptamer-based biosensors (aptasensors) attracted important attention as superior diagnostic tools because of their unique properties such as high stability, target versatility and remarkable affinity and selectivity. Nanomaterials, which broadly employed in the structure of these aptasensors, can considerably enhance the detection limit and sensitivity of analytes determination. Therefore, this review selectively investigated the recent progresses in several different optical and electrochemical aptasensors and nano-aptasensors designed for AFP assay.

Abstract
Simultaneous sensitive and cost-effective detection of multiple tumor markers has shown great potential for cancer diagnostics. Herein, we reported a simple enzyme-free parallel catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) amplification strategy with N-methyl mesoporphyrin IX (NMM) and quantum dots (QDs) as signal reporters for the homogeneous fluorescent simultaneous detection of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and glypican-3 (GPC3). Upon selective binding, the released single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) from the two-aptamer double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) probes triggers CHA amplification, further releasing the G-quadruplex sequence and Ag+ from the C-Ag+-C structures at the same time. Then, NMM and CdTe QDs selectively recognize G-quadruplex and Ag+, respectively. Under optimized conditions, limits of detections (LODs) as low as 3 fg/mL for AFP and 0.25 fg/mL for GPC3 were achieved using fluorescence readout. Using color- and distance-based visual readouts, an LOD of 1 fg/mL for GPC3 was reached. This method was applied to quantitatively analyze AFP and GPC3 in 41 clinical serum samples of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. The quantitative test results for AFP and GPC3 were consistent with those obtained using the electrochemiluminescence immunoassay (ECL-IA) clinical kit and correlated with radiological and pathological findings. The results of clinical tests demonstrated the potential of GPC3 as a tumor biomarker, and we propose a cut-off value of 2 ng/mL GPC3 for HCC.

Abstract
Recent progress in the synthesis and assembly of two-dimensional (2D) materials has laid the foundation for various applications of atomically thin layer films. These 2D materials possess rich and diverse properties such as layer-dependent band gaps, interesting spin degrees of freedom, and variable crystal structures. They exhibit broad application prospects in micro-nano devices. In the meantime, the wide bandgap semiconductors (WBS) with an elevated breakdown voltage, high mobility, and high thermal conductivity have shown important applications in high-frequency microwave devices, high-temperature and high-power electronic devices. Beyond the study on single 2D materials or WBS materials, the multi-functional 2D/WBS heterostructures can promote the carrier transport at the interface, potentially providing novel physical phenomena and applications, and improving the performance of electronic and optoelectronic devices. In this review, we overview the advantages of the heterostructures of 2D materials and WBS materials, and introduce the construction methods of 2D/WBS heterostructures. Then, we present the diversity and recent progress in the applications of 2D/WBS heterostructures, including photodetectors, photocatalysis, sensors, and energy related devices. Finally, we put forward the current challenges of 2D/WBS heterostructures and propose the promising research directions in the future.

Abstract
A signal-enhanced photoelectrochemical immunoassay technique for detecting neuron specific enolase (NSE) was proposed. As a photoactive matrix, (Ce,Ag):Sb2WO6 was firstly investigated via doping Ce and Ag into Sb2WO6. It could be found that the presence of Ce and Ag not only had enormous variation on the morphology of Sb2WO6, but also showed excellent PEC behavior. In order to further improve the visible light utilization rate of (Ce,Ag):Sb2WO6, In2S3 was modified onto the surface of (Ce,Ag):Sb2WO6 to enhance visible light absorption. In addition, the CdS/PDA was served as a secondary antibody marker to further amplify signal. Especially, PDA as an electron donor could effectively remove photogenerated holes. Meanwhile, the good matching cascade band-edge levels between CdS and Sb2WO6 could promote photoelectron migration, improve the PEC response, and achieve sensitive detection of NSE. Under the selected excellent conditions, the photocurrent can linearly increase with the increase of NSE concentration in the operating range from 0.1 pg/mL to 50 ng/mL, and the limit of detection is 1.57 fg/mL. The constructed immunosensor also exhibits satisfactory stability, selectivity, and reproducibility, and it creates conditions for the detection of other biomolecules.

Abstract
Nowadays, the emerging photoelectrochemical (PEC) bioanalysis has drawn intensive interest due to its numerous merits. As one of its core elements, functional nanostructured materials play a crucial role during the construction of PEC biosensors, which can not only be employed as transducers but also act as signal probes. Although both chemical composition and morphology control of nanostructured materials contribute to the excellent analytical performance of PEC bioassay, surveys addressing nanostructures with different dimensionality have rarely been reported. In this review, according to classification based on dimensionality, zero-dimensional, one-dimensional, two-dimensional, and three-dimensional nanostructures used in PEC bioanalysis are evaluated, with an emphasis on the effect of morphology on the detection performances. Furthermore, using the illustration of recent works, related novel PEC biosensing patterns with promising applications are also discussed. Finally, the current challenges and some future perspectives in this field are addressed based on our opinions.

Abstract
Here, a new type of PEC aptamer sensor for bisphenol A (BPA) detection was developed, in which visible-light active MoS2/Ni-Fe LDH (layered double hydroxide) heterostructure and aptamer were used as photosensitive materials and biometric elements, respectively. The combination of an appropriate amount of MoS2 and Ni-Fe LDH enhances the photocurrent response, thereby promoting the construction of the PEC sensor. Therefore, we used a simple in situ growth method to fabricate a MoS2/Ni-Fe LDH sensor to detect the BPA content. The aptasensor based on aptamer/MoS2/Ni-Fe LDH displayed a linear range toward a BPA of 0.05-10 to 50-40,000 ng L-1, and it has excellent stability, selectivity and reproducibility. In addition, the proposed aptamer sensor is effective in evaluating real water samples, indicating that it has great potential for detecting BPA in real samples.

Abstract
The performance of photoelectrochemical (PEC) analysis system relies closely on the properties of the photoelectric electrodes. It is of great significance to integrate photoactive materials with flexible substrates to construct ultra-sensitive PEC sensors for practical application. This work reports a novel photoelectrode developed by immobilizing α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles (NPs)/defect-rich carbon nitride (d-C3N4), an excellent Z-scheme heterojunction photoelectric material, onto three-dimensional (3D) flexible carbon fiber textile. Specifically, 3D hierarchical structure of flexible carbon fiber textile provides larger specific surface area and higher mechanical strength than traditional electrodes, resulting in more reaction sites and faster reaction kinetics to achieve signal amplification. Simultaneously, α-Fe2O3/d-C3N4 Z-scheme heterojunction exhibits enhanced light absorption capability and high redox ability, thus dramatically improving the PEC performance. This photoelectrode was used to construct a flexible PEC aptasensor for ultrasensitive detection of penbritin, demonstrating excellent performance in terms of wide linear range (0.5 pM-50 nM), low detection limit (0.0125 pM) and high stability. The design principle is applicable to the manufacture of other photoelectric sensing systems, which provides an avenue for the development of portable environmental analysis and field diagnostics equipment.
