Abstract
Luminous imaging of latent fingerprints (LFPs) necessitates the possession of high-brightness aggregation-state luminescence by developers to ensure sufficient imaging contrast and resolution. A novel strategy involving incremental rotor modification is presented for AIE activation of the iridium developer. The rotor proliferation prominently improves the rotational activity of groups and facilitates high-efficiency RIM, thereby prompting the AIE activation of iridium developer with high luminous efficiency. Subsequently, a prompt, high-contrast, and robust LFP imaging protocol is developed utilizing the high-brightness AIE-active iridium developer. This innovative protocol realizes the luminous imaging and quantification of microscopic features in fingerprint ridges and furrows, including ridge widths, edge morphology of ridges, included angles, pores, and pore pitches with exceptional imaging contrast and refined detail resolution. Moreover, it allows for accurate identification of individual traits across diverse substrates without any pre-/post-processing to LFPs. The high-brightness AIE-active iridium developer provides outstanding aging resistance to developed fingerprints, thereby strongly supporting the acquisition, transfer, and preservation of fingerprint evidence. The luminous imaging protocol of LFPs based on high-brightness AIE exhibits robust adaptability to actual scenes and offers a premium scheme for facilitating forensic investigation.

Abstract
Despite substantial progress in the diagnosis of jaundice/hyperbilirubinemia as the most common disease and cause of hospitalization of newborns, on the eve of Industry/Healthcare 5.0, the development of accurate and reliable wearable diagnostic sensors for noninvasive smart monitoring of bilirubin (BIL) is still in high demand. Aiming to fabricate a smart wearable sensor for early diagnosis of neonatal jaundice and its therapeutic monitoring, we here report a fluorescent dermal nanotattoo that further coupled with an IoT-integrated wearable optoelectronic reader for minimally invasive, continuous, and real-time monitoring of BIL in interstitial fluid. Selective recovery of quenched fluorescence of the dermal tattoo sensor, composed of biocompatible dissolving/hydrogel microneedles loaded with fluorescent carbon quantum dots, upon blue light exposure used for jaundice phototherapy was utilized for highly selective BIL sensing. The fascinating features of our developed smart wearable tattoo sensor and its successful results with high correlation with blood BIL results make it a highly promising sensor for easy, minimally invasive, reliable, and smart eDiagnostics and continuous therapeutic eMonitoring of jaundice and other BIL-induced diseases at the point of care. We envision that the developed nanotattoo sensing bioplatform will inspire the development of future smart tattoo sensors in various diagnostic and monitoring scenarios.

Abstract
α-Glucosidase, which directly involves in the metabolism of starch and glycogen and causes an increase in blood sugar level, is the major target enzyme for the precaution and therapy of type II diabetes. Based on the previous work, we adopted a post-synthetic modification method to encapsulate Tb3+ into Ce-MOF nanozyme which owned mixed valence states. Tb@Ce-MOF displayed induced luminescence characteristic and exceptional oxidase-like activity that could oxidize colorless 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to blue ox-TMB. α-Glucosidase can hydrolyze the substrate l-ascorbic acid-2-O-α-d-glucopyranosyl (AAG) to generate ascorbic acid (AA), which could increase the Ce3+/Ce4+ redox valence mode in Tb@Ce-MOF, leading to the inhibition of the allochroic reaction of TMB and the decreased absorption of ox-TMB at 652 nm. The energy transfer (EnT) process from Ce3+ to Tb3+ will enhance due to the increased Ce3+/Ce4+ mode in Tb@Ce-MOF, which will result in an enhanced fluorescence signal of Tb@Ce-MOF at 550 nm. But the addition of inhibitor acarbose will inhibit the above process. We have constructed a dual-mode detection platform of α-glucosidase and its inhibitor via colorimetric and fluorometric method. The linear range of α-glucosidase were 0.01-0.5 U/mL (colorimetric mode) and 0.8-1.5 U/mL (fluorometric mode), respectively, with a detection limit as low as 0.0018 U/mL. Furthermore, our approach was also successfully employed to the analysis of α-glucosidase in serum samples.

Abstract
A two-dimensional zirconium-based metal-organic framework (2D Zr-MOF), ZrBTB (BTB = 1,3,5-tri(4-carboxyphenyl)benzene), is used as a platform to simultaneously immobilize terbium ions and europium ions with tunable ratios on its hexa-zirconium nodes by a post-synthetic modification. The crystallinity, morphology, porosity and photoluminescence (PL) properties of the obtained 2D Zr-MOFs with various europium-to-terbium ratios are investigated. With the energy transfer from the excited BTB linker to the installed terbium ions and the energy transfer from terbium ions to europium ions, a low loading of immobilized europium ions and a high loading of surrounding terbium ions in the 2D Zr-MOF result in the optimal PL emission intensities of europium; this phenomenon is not observable for the physical mixture of both terbium-installed ZrBTB and europium-installed ZrBTB. The role of installed terbium ions as efficient mediators for the energy transfer from the excited BTB linker to the installed europium ion is confirmed by quantifying PL quantum yields. As a demonstration, these materials with modulable PL characteristics are applied for the ratiometric detection of D2O in water, with the use of the stable emission from the BTB linker as the reference. With the strong emission of immobilized europium ions and the good dispersity in aqueous solutions, the optimal bimetal-installed ZrBTB, Eu-Tb-ZrBTB(1 : 10), can achieve the sensing performance outperforming those of the terbium-installed ZrBTB, europium-installed ZrBTB and the physical mixture of both.

Abstract
Bilirubin (BR), a heme protein produced from breakdown of haemoglobin is present in aged red blood cells; whose abnormal concentration is associated with diseases like hyperbilirubinemia, coronary disease, iron deficiency, and so on. Herein, we have synthesized a selective, sensitive, and low-cost sensing platform using fluorescent nitrogen doped carbon dots (NCDs), prepared from precursors; citric acid and urea via a simple microwave-assisted method. The emission at 444 nm on excitation with 360 nm was well quenched in presence of BR suggesting a direct turn-off detection for BR. Characterization of developed probe was done by UV-Visible absorption studies, photoluminescence studies, SEM, TEM, ATR-FTIR, XPS, and DLS analysis. BR was detected with a Limit of Detection (LoD) and Limit of Quantification (LoQ) of 0.32 µM and 1.08 µM respectively. NCDs exhibited excellent selectivity and sensitivity towards BR in the presence of co-existing biomolecules and ions. Practical feasibility was checked by paper-strip-based sensing of BR and spiked real human samples were used for conducting real sample analysis.

Abstract
A novel ratiometric fluorescence nanoprobe was developed to detect tryptophan enantiomers with high selectivity and sensitivity. Fluorescein (FL) was doped into SiO2 nanoparticles with little dye leakage, acting as an internal reference signal. The chiral center of L-histidine (L-His) was introduced by partially replacing the carboxyl on the surface of SiO2. The response signal of Eu3+ was coordinated with carboxyl to obtain the FL@SiO2-Eu/His nanoprobe. The nanoprobe shows enantioselective luminescence responses for tryptophan enantiomers. The red emission of Eu3+ can be effectively quenched by the tryptophan enantiomers, but the quenching efficiency is different due to the different interactions with the chiral recognition sites. The fluorescence intensity ratio (I613/I515) shows excellent linearity with tryptophan enantiomers in the range of 0-100 μM (R2 > 0.99). The limit of detection (LOD) is 1.0 μM and 1.3 μM for L-tryptophan (L-Trp) and D-tryptophan (D-Trp), respectively. The FL@SiO2-Eu/His nanoprobe shows good selectivity and specific recognition in serum actual samples. In addition, the nanoprobe can realize visual detection under UV light due to the obvious color change. This work provides an innovative idea for the development of new probes in the detection field.

Abstract
Rapid, sensitive and portable analytical methods for on-site detection of tetracycline (TC) in food samples is of critical importance for food safety and public health. In this study, a dual-emission ratio fluorescent probe (Gd0.9@Eu0.1) was prepared and utilized for the detection of tetracycline (TC) by observing the fluorescence color change from blue to red. The detection process exhibits a wide linear range (0-52.0 μM), good selectivity and low detection limit (14 nM). A paper-based probe and a colorimetric card was constructed for the visual detection of TC. Furthermore, a novel and portable detection platform combining smartphone and test strip was exploited for the quantitative and on-site detection of TC in real pork sample. The developed method was validated through intra- (n = 5) and inter-day (n = 2) measurements, as well as comparison with a traditional HPLC method. These statistical result validate the reliability and accuracy of the developed method. This intelligent detection platform represents a promising approach for the rapid, sensitive and visual detection of TC in food samples.

Abstract
Gold is not only a precious resource for many industries but also a global contaminant as a result of the discharge of gold-containing waste. Designing appropriate materials for the detection and extraction of gold is of great significance for the economy and environment. However, most reports only focus on sensing or adsorption for gold because of the difficulty of combining two functions in a single material. Herein, an oxime-functionalized MOF-on-MOF heterostructure (MOF-808@ZIF-90-XE) for the simultaneous detection and recovery of Au3+ is first demonstrated. The constructed hybrid material exhibits good stability, ultra-fast response time (3.6 s) as well as excellent sensitivity for the detection of Au3+ . Experimental characterizations and theoretical calculations suggest that dynamic quenching and competitive adsorption may be possible sensing mechanisms. In addition, MOF-808@ZIF-90-XE shows outstanding selectivity and admirable adsorption capacity (1575 mg g-1 ) for the capture of Au3+ owing to high surface area and abundant active adsorption sites. This paper provides a new strategy by designing a hybrid MOF-on-MOF heterostructure for the detection and extraction of gold.

Abstract
An amino-functionalized terphenyl-tetracarboxylic acid, 2'-amino-[1,1':4',1″-terphenyl]-3,3″,5,5″-tetracarboxylic acid (H4tpta), was used as an adaptable linker to synthesize, under hydrothermal conditions, eight coordination polymers (CPs). The obtained products were formulated as [Co(μ6-H2tpta)]n (1), [Co(μ3-H2tpta)(2,2'-bipy)]n (2), [M3(μ6-Htpta)2(2,2'-bipy)2]n (M = Mn (3), Cd (4)), [Ni2(μ4-tpta)(phen)2(H2O)4]n (5), [Zn2(μ6-tpta)(phen)2]n (6), {[Zn2(μ6-tpta)(μ-4,4'-bipy)]·H2O}n (7), and [Zn2(μ6-tpta)(μ-H2biim)(H2O)2]n (8), wherein 2,2'-bipyridine (2,2'-bipy), 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bipy), 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), or 2,2'-biimidazole (H2biim) are present as additional stabilizing ligands. The structural types of 1-8 vary from one-dimensional (1D) (2, 5) and two-dimensional (2D) (3, 4, 6) CPs to three-dimensional (3D) metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) (1, 7, and 8) with a diversity of topologies. The products 1-8 were investigated as catalysts in the Knoevenagel condensation involving aldehydes and active methylene derivatives (malononitrile, ethyl cyanoacetate, or tert-butyl cyanoacetate), leading to high condensation product yields (up to 99%) under optimized conditions. Various reaction conditions, substrate scope, and catalyst recycling were investigated. This work broadens the application of H4tpta as a versatile tetracarboxylate linker for the generation of diverse CPs/MOFs.

Abstract
Bilirubin was first detected in blood in 1847 and since then has become one of the most widely used biomarkers for liver disease. Clinical routine bilirubin testing is performed at the hospital laboratory, and the gold standard colorimetric test is prone to interferences. The absence of a bedside test for bilirubin delays critical clinical decisions for patients with liver disease. This clinical care gap has motivated the development of a new generation of bioengineered point-of-care bilirubin assays. In this Perspective, recently developed bilirubin assays are critically discussed, and their translational potential evaluated.

Abstract
Continuous accumulation of Al3+ in the human body and unintended leakage of UO22+ have posed a great threat to human health and the global environment; thus searching an efficient probe for the detection of Al3+ and UO22+ is of great importance. Herein, we designed and synthesized two hydrolytically stable Eu3+- and Tb3+-functionalized MOF materials Eu@MOF-808-TDA and Tb@MOF-808-TDA via thiodiglycolic acid (TDA) intermediates by the postsynthetic modification method. Among them, Tb@MOF-808-TDA was applied to construct numerical recognition systems of multiples of three and four by the combination of fluorescent signals, hierarchical cluster analysis, and logical gates. In addition, Tb@MOF-808-TDA exhibits good selectivity and sensitivity for the detection of Al3+ and UO22+. The detection limit is calculated to be 0.085 ppm for Al3+ and 0.082 ppm for UO22+ in aqueous solutions, which is lower than or close to that of latest reported Ln-MOFs. Moreover, the probe shows excellent hydrolytic stability and luminescence stability in the pH range of 4-11, further providing solid evidence for the practical application of Tb@MOF-808-TDA. More importantly, a mixed matrix hydrogel PVA-Tb@MOF-808-TDA was prepared to achieve the visual detection of Al3+, which broadens the potential in real-world sensing applications.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have excellent applicability in several fields and have significant structural advantages, due to their open pore structure, high porosity, large specific surface area, and easily modifiable and functionalized porous surface. In addition, a variety of luminescent guest (LG) species can be encapsulated in the pores of MOFs, giving MOFs a broader luminescent capability. The applications of a variety of LG@MOF sensors, constructed by doping MOFs with LGs such as lanthanide ions, carbon quantum dots, luminescent complexes, organic dyes, and metal nanoclusters, for fluorescence detection of various target analyses such as ions, biomarkers, pesticides, and preservatives are systematically introduced in this review. The development of these sensors for portable visual fluorescence sensing applications is then covered. Finally, the challenges that these sectors currently face, as well as the potential for future growth, are briefly discussed.

Abstract
A novel dual functional and visual rhodamine ethylenediamine bis(triazolyl silsesquioxane) (RBS) chemosensor was successfully synthesized using "click" chemistry. The results have unambiguously demonstrated that RBS can act in fluorescent and colorimetric sensing of Cu2+ and Zn2+ by their respective coordination with triazole structures and, more importantly, it has also been found that triazole-amide of RBS could turn on chelation-enhanced fluorescence (CHEF) of Cu2+. Remarkably, the addition of Cu2+ triggered an enhanced fluorescent emission by 63.3-fold (ϕF = 0.41), while Zn2+ enhanced it 48.3-fold (ϕF = 0.29) relative to the original RBS (ϕF = 0.006) in acetonitrile (MeCN) solvent. The fluorescent limit of detection for Cu2+ and Zn2+ is similar and fall within 3.0 nM, while under colorimetric sensing the responses were 2.14 × 10-8 and 4.0 × 10-8 mol L-1, respectively. Moreover, the effective sensing profile of RBS and extended applications of RBS-Cu2+ and RBS-Zn2+ for fingerprinting detection and imaging were observed with adequate sensitivity, stability and legibility under the dual visual responses.

Abstract
Bilirubin is an indispensable biomarker for liver diseases. Utilizing organic molecules as sensor platform for effective detection of bilirubin are little. In addition, the reported fluorophores required longer incubation time for detection. Hence, herein we have attempted to design an imidazole derivative 4-(3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridin-2-yl)-N,N-diphenylaniline (IMI) from triphenylamine and pyridine units which could detect bilirubin swiftly without any incubation period. IMI manifested an instant quenching of emission in presence of bilirubin with limit of detection (LOD) 11.74 × 10-6 mol L-1. The mechanistic aspect of detection involves coexistence of both static and dynamic quenching which was suitably justified. Finally, the pragmatic application of IMI was performed in bio-fluids.

Abstract
Multifunctional fluorescent probes have received increasing attention for the sake of atom economy and high-density integration. Herein, CdTe quantum dots (QDs) modified with Eu3+ were synthesized as the bifunctional ratiometric fluorescent probe for sensing two hazardous substances tetracycline (TC) and anthrax spore biomarker 2,6-dipicolinic acid (DPA) at different excitation channels, based on the discrepant excitation wavelengths of Eu3+ and the fluorescence quenching of CdTe QDs after interaction with them. Both DPA and TC enhanced the red emission of Eu3+ via antenna effect but caused the green emission of CdTe QDs to quench. Interestingly, the excitation wavelengths of Eu3+ after coordinating with DPA and TC were 275 and 386 nm, respectively. On this basis, CdTe QDs-Eu3+ achieved the bifunctional ratiometric detection of DPA (λex = 275 nm) and TC (λex = 386 nm) with different excitation channels. Both DPA and TC were selectively detected by CdTe QDs-Eu3+ with rapid response (DPA-1 min, TC-1 min) and high sensitivity (DPA-LOD 0.3 μM, TC-LOD 2.2 nM). CdTe QDs-Eu3+ were applied to analyzing DPA and TC in food, biological and environmental samples. Satisfactory spiked recoveries (80.0-119.0 %) and relative standard deviations (0.5-8.4 %) were obtained for measuring DPA and TC in these samples.

Abstract
The contamination of tetracycline antibiotics and dihydrogen phosphate (H2PO4−) in food and the environment is one of the major concerns for human health. Herein, a water-stable carboxyl-functionalized europium metal–organic framework (Eu-MOF) was prepared and demonstrated, for the first time, as a dual-responsive fluorescent sensor of tetracycline antibiotics (oxytetracycline (OTC), tetracycline (TC), and doxycycline (DOX)) and H2PO4−via fluorescent turn-on and turn-off, respectively. Eu-MOF presents a sensitive and selective detection of OTC with a rapid response time (1 min) and good anti-interference ability. The limits of detection (LODs) of 78 nm, 225 nm, and 201 nM were achieved for OTC, TC, and DOX, respectively. Coordination and hydrogen bonding led to energy and electron transfer from the TC to the MOF, contributing to the fluorescent enhancement mechanism. Moreover, Eu-MOF can effectively detect H2PO4−via fluorescence turn-off with a LOD of 0.70 μM. The interactions between H2PO4− and MOF interrupt the energy transfer from ligand to MOF, leading to fluorescence quenching. In addition, Eu-MOF was successfully applied to determine OTC and H2PO4− in real samples, obtaining satisfactory recoveries and RSDs. More fascinating, Eu-MOF could be utilized to develop latent fingerprints on various surfaces, providing well-defined fluorescent fingerprint details in which the sweat pores can be seen with the naked eye. Water-stable Eu-MOF as a fluorescent probe for detecting tetracycline antibiotics and dihydrogen phosphate in real samples and visualization of latent fingerprints.![]()

Abstract
Ciprofloxacin (CIP) is a commonly used antibiotic for the treatment of infectious diseases in humans and as a prophylactic agent in the livestock industry, leading to the environmental discharge of significant amounts of CIP. CIP is stable in aquatic systems leading to its pseudo-persistence. Constant exposure to these antibiotics results in the generation of antibiotic-resistant pathogens and potential toxicity/hypersensitivity in humans. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a convenient, rapid, and cost-effective method for the monitoring of ciprofloxacin in environmental samples. Rhodamine-based fluorescent receptors have the limitation of aqueous solubility. Therefore, in order to overcome this drawback, we designed a novel fluorescent receptor based on a zirconium-based metal organic framework (MOF-808). The precursor, MOF-808, was synthesized and functionalized by using sodium citrate to obtain a receptor called C-MOF-808. The C-MOF-808 was structurally characterized by XRD and spectroscopic analyses. Thus, this synthesized receptor can be used for the fluorescent detection of CIP in aqueous media with a detection limit of 9.4 µM. The detection phenomena of the receptor were studied by absorption as well as fluorescent spectra. The binding behavior of CIP with the receptor was studied by FT-IR and 1H-NMR analyses, and a binding mechanism is proposed.

Abstract
4,4'-(Pyridine-3,5-diyl)dibenzoic acid (H2pdba) was explored as an adaptable linker for assembling a diversity of new manganese(II), cobalt(II/III), nickel(II), and copper(II) coordination polymers (CPs): [Mn(μ4-pdba)(H2O)]n (1), {[M(μ3-pdba)(phen)]·2H2O}n (M = Co (2), Ni (3)), {[Cu2(μ3-pdba)2(bipy)]·2H2O}n (4), {[Co(μ3-pdba)(bipy)]·2H2O}n (5), [Co2(μ3-pdba)(μ-Hbiim)2(Hbiim)]n (6), and [M(μ4-pdba)(py)]n (M = Co (7), Ni (8)). The CPs were hydrothermally synthesized using metal(II) chloride precursors, H2pdba, and different coligands functioning as crystallization mediators (phen: 1,10-phenanthroline; bipy: 2,2'-bipyridine, H2biim: 2,2'-biimidazole; py: pyridine). Structural networks of 1-8 range from two-dimensional (2D) metal-organic layers (1-3, 5-8) to three-dimensional (3D) metal-organic framework (MOF) (4) and disclose several types of topologies: sql (in 1), hcb (in 2, 3, 5), tfk (in 4), 3,5L66 (in 6), and SP 2-periodic net (6,3)Ia (in 7, 8). Apart from the characterization by standard methods, catalytic potential of the obtained CPs was also screened in the Knoevenagel condensation of benzaldehyde with propanedinitrile to give 2-benzylidenemalononitrile (model reaction). Several reaction parameters were optimized, and the substrate scope was explored, revealing the best catalytic performance for a 3D MOF 4. This catalyst is recyclable and can lead to substituted dinitrile products in up to 99% product yields. The present study widens the use of H2pdba as a still poorly studied linker toward designing novel functional coordination polymers.

Abstract
Instant visualization of latent fingerprints is developed by using a series of water-soluble terpyridine zinc complexes as aggregation-induced emission probes in pure water, under UV light or ambient sunlight. By simply soaking, or spraying with an aqueous solution of the probe, bright yellow fluorescence images with high contrast and resolution are readily developed on various surfaces including tinfoil, glass, paper, steel, leather, and ceramic tile. Remarkably, latent fingerprints can be visualized within seconds including details of whorl and sweat pores. The color of emission can be tuned from blue to orange by modifying the pincer ligands, allowing direct imaging under sunlight. These inexpensive, water-resistant, and color-tunable probes provide a practical approach for latent fingerprints recording and analysis, security protection, as well as criminal investigation in different scenarios.

Abstract
Bismuth-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have always attracted the attention of many researchers. Here, we first report a crystalline Bi-MOF (Bi-TDPAT) based on a flexible triazine-polycarboxylic linker 2,4,6-tris(3,5-dicarboxylphenylamino)-1,3,5-triazine (H6TDPAT) and bismuth nitrate; its crystallite quality is adequately good and the diffraction data can be collected directly by single crystal X-ray diffraction rather than 3D electron diffraction. The structure of Bi-TDPAT belongs to a novel topology type btt. Notably, the synthesis scale of Bi-TDPAT can be expanded, and sub-gram synthesis can be realized. At the same time, we synthesized a microcrystalline material Bi-TATAB utilizing 2,4,6-tris(4-carboxylphenylamino)-1,3,5-triazine (H3TATAB). The structures of the two materials were characterized by several microanalysis tools. Considering that Bi-TDPAT is a blue light-emitting material with a broad emission peak, we prepared a white light emitting composite material Eu/Tb@Bi-TDPAT by encapsulating Eu(III)/Tb(III) in Bi-TDPAT. In addition, the fluorescence sensing functions of Bi-TDPAT and Bi-TATAB were explored. The results showed that they could detect and recognize various nitrophenols, and the optimal limit of detection is as low as 0.21 μM, which can be reused even after five cycles. Energy competitive absorption (CA) and photo-induced electron transfer are the main sensing mechanisms. By comparing and analyzing the properties of these two bismuth-based crystalline materials, we believe that this work also provides inspiration for the synthesis and development of bismuth-based MOF in the future.

Abstract
The increasing degradation of ecosystems due to heavy metal residues has led to environment and food contamination, prompting the development of convenient platforms for monitoring heavy metals. Here, a new dual-emission fluorescent sensor CuNCs@Tb@UiO-66-(COOH)2 for the detection of copper ions (Cu2+ ) has been synthesized by one-pot encapsulation of Tb (III) and glutathione-stabilized copper nanoclusters (CuNCs) into metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) UiO-66-(COOH)2 . In this ratiometric sensor, the fluorescence intensity of Tb3+ decreased significantly upon the addition of Cu2+ , while that of CuNCs showed good stability, together with an apparent color change. Therefore, ratiometric fluorescence detection of Cu2+ can be accomplished by measuring the ratio of the fluorescence intensity at the 450 nm (F450 ) wavelength of CuNCs to the 548 nm (F548 ) emission of Tb3+ in the fluorescence spectra of the CuNCs@Tb@UiO-66-(COOH)2 suspension. Moreover, the obtained fluorescent probe shows good results in the detection of actual samples. This work can provide the basis of method for the exploration of ratiometric fluorescence and visual sensors of trace pollutants analysis in complicated samples.

Abstract
By immobilizing the chiral center l-histidine (l-His) into a Zr-based metal-organic framework (MOF) through post-synthetic ligand exchange, a chiral compound MOF-His has been prepared. On this basis, MOF-His is hybridized with Eu3+ ions to obtain the final responsive compound Eu@MOF-His. It is worth noting that the bifunctional material exhibits enantioselective luminescence properties for tryptophan enantiomers. The experimental results demonstrate that tryptophan enantiomers can effectively quench the red-light emission of Eu3+ ions, and also, the quenching rates are various, which may originate from the differences in the interaction between analytes and chiral recognition sites. In addition, Eu@MOF-His can realize the sensing of tryptophan enantiomers in serum. Concurrently, the compound possesses reusability, high sensitivity, and fast response speed, which means that it has the potential to serve as an excellent fluorescent sensor for detecting and identifying tryptophan enantiomers.

Abstract
When a multicarboxylate aromatic ligand, 3,5-di(2',4'-dicarboxylphenyl)benzoic acid (H5L), was employed, five structurally similar lanthanide metal-organic frameworks (Ln-MOFs), {[Pr10L6(OH)3Cl(H2O)6]·4C2H8N}n (1), {[Nd10L6(OH)4 (H2O)9]·4C2H8N}n (2), {[Gd10L6(OH)4(H2O)3]·4C2H8N}n (3), {[Ho10L6(OH)4 (H2O)3]·4C2H8N}n (4) and {[Er10L6(OH)4(H2O)6]·4C2H8N}n (5), were synthesized and characterized. Single-crystal X-ray structural analyses disclosed that all five Ln-MOFs crystallize in the trigonal R3 space group. They have three-dimensional mesoporous structure featuring the coexistence of binuclear and tetranuclear species as inorganic building units. The mesoporous structure of 3 was verified by the gas adsorption experiment of N2. Fluorescence analysis showed that 3 can selectively detect Fe3+, Cr2O72-, and H2O2; furthermore, it can be used for the electrochemical detection of trinitrophenol. With the merit of an excellent highly sensitive detection performance, 3 has unpredictable application prospects in future research fields.

Abstract
A stable luminescent Cd-MOF, formulated as [Cd(L)0.5(4, 4'-bpy)0.5]·H2O (1), (H4L = 1, 1'-ethylbiphenyl -3, 3', 5, 5'- tetracarboxylic acid, 4, 4' -bpy = 4, 4'-bipyridine), is acquired under solvothermal conditions. 1 exhibits stability in the pH range from 1.5 to 12.2 and in different organic solvents. 1 can detect tetracycline and nitrobenzene by fluorescence quenching with high sensitivity and selectivity. The detection limits are 0.14 μM and 14 nM, respectively. Interestingly, 1 can encapsulate Tb3+ and sensitize its characteristic peaks. Moreover, the fluorescent ink is prepared by using the luminescent properties of the Tb3+@Cd-MOF. The light of the fluorescent ink disappears in an acid gas HCl atmosphere and then reappears in an alkaline gas ammonia atmosphere. This phenomenon can be repeated and the reason for this phenomenon is also explained in the article. Therefore, Tb3+@Cd-MOF has huge application potential in information encryption.

Abstract
A highly stable heterometallic MOF, {[(Me2NH2)2]·[Cd2K2(L)2(H2O)]}n (H4L = terphenyl-2, 2', 4, 4'-tetracarboxylic acid) (1), was synthesized. 1 featuring one-dimensional channels can efficiently detect Aspartic acid with a low limit of detection (LOD) value (2.5 μM). More interestingly, 1 can encapsulate Eu3+ and sensitize the visible-emitting characteristic fluorescence of Eu3+ in aqueous solution. Then, Eu3+@CdK-MOF is found to be an excellent fluorescence sensor for the detection of Ornidazole (ODZ) and the portable ODZ test paper is also successfully designed. Eu3+@CdK-MOF can also be used as fluorescent ink to write some words. The words can be hidden when treated with acid vapor and then the words can be restored when treated with alkaline vapor. More importantly, the hidden information can be read repeatedly. Therefore, this reversible light-emitting and reusable property have great potential for development in information encryption and decryption and information storage.

Abstract
Based on the anionic Slug-47 [Gd(bpdc)2-] [NH2(CH3)2+], a multifunctional fluorescent material with ultra-high stability has been fabricated successfully. Firstly, Eu0.04Tb39.96Gd60 with white light emission is prepared by adjusting the doping ratio of Eu3+ ions and Tb3+ ions. Then, the dye acriflavine (ACF) is further introduced into the framework of Eu@ Slug-47 (1) via cation exchange to obtain ACF@1, which can be used as a ratio fluorescence sensor to detect 2-methoxyaceticacid (Maa), a toxic metabolite of glycol monomethyl ether, with the limit of detection (LOD) as low as 0.27 μg/mL. It is impressive that the emissions of ACF and biphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylicacid ligands are gradually enhanced with the gradual weakening of the emission of Eu3+ ions during the detection of Maa. Under the superposition of three different colors, the sensing process undergoes a distinct color change from red to white and then to blue. These rich and colorful colors provide conditions for accurate visual detection of Maa. In addition, the material can also respond well to the pollutant S2- ions and the LOD can reach 11.3 μmol /L. It is worth mentioning that the available quenching effect can be observed even if Maa and S2- ions are detected in urine and tap water respectively, indicating that the multifunctional material has a brilliant application prospect. Finally, the quenching mechanism of Maa, S2- ions toward ACF@1 is discussed in detail.

Abstract
It remains a challenge to exploit dual-functional metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for applications, including luminescence detection and proton conduction. With the deliberate selection of the bifunctional organic ligand 5-sulfoisophthalic acid monosodium salt (NaH2bts), and the phosphonic acid ligand N,N'-piperazine (bismethylenephosphonic acid; H4L), a robust three-dimensional (3D) noninterpenetrating dual-functional MOF, [Tb(H2L)(H2bts)(H2O)]·H2O (1), has been synthesized hydrothermally. On the basis of the excellent thermal and chemical as well as superior luminescence stabilities in water and solutions with different pHs, 1 can serve as the simple, rapid, and highly selective and sensitive luminescence detection of the carcinoid biomarkers 5-hydroxytryptamine (HT) and its metabolite 5-hydroxyindole-3-acetic acid (HIAA) with detection limits of nanomolar magnitude in water and in simulated blood plasma and urine systems. Due to the change in the signals that could be readily differentiated by the naked eye under a UV lamp, a portable test paper has been developed. The probable quenching mechanisms are discussed in detail. In addition, a great number of hydrogen-bonding networks are formed among the uncoordinated carboxylic oxygen atoms, sulfonate oxygen atoms, protonated nitrogen atoms, and water molecules, which provide potential proton-hopping sites for proton conduction, leading to a maximum proton conductivity of 2.3 × 10-4 S cm-1 at 368 K and 95% relative humidity. The above results suggest that rationally designed dual-functional MOFs can open an avenue for the development of occupational diagnostic tools and alternative energy technology.

Abstract
Luminescent metal-organic frameworks (LMOFs) as chemosensors, can sense various analytes, such as heavy metal ions, antibiotics, pesticides, and small biological molecules. Based on the fluorescence characteristics of LMOFs, a variety of logic gates have been developed. In this review, we mainly discuss some common logic systems based on LMOFs, and then summarize the strategies of constructing logic gates from two perspectives. One is based on superior characteristics of MOFs, which can be synthesized from Ln3+ based MOFs (Ln-MOFs) or form hybrids by encapsulating different materials, including metal ions, dyes, and quantum dots (QDs). The other is to control the presence of inputs by reactions between different reactants and then further control switches of logic gates. Additionally, the common sensing mechanisms of LMOFs in logic gates are discussed. In the end, we have envisioned MOFs that possess a promising future in logic computing areas.
