Abstract
Crownphyrinogens and crownphyrins constitute a group of macrocycles that combine the structural facets of porphyrinoids and crown ethers. The dual-nature cavity embedded in their molecules enables reactivity involving two structurally distinct parts of the macrocyclic ligand. Upon Ni(II) and Pd(II) insertion, coordination compounds are produced wherein the metal is incorporated into the porphyrinoid-like pocket, resulting in monomeric or accordion-like dimeric products, depending on the oxidation level of the macrocycle and metal cation. The reactions with Na(I) and K(I) resulted in the formation of complexes where only the crown ether segment of the molecule is involved in metal binding, yielding remarkable dimeric species. The exploitation of a crownphyrin large enough to accommodate two metal cations allowed the synthesis of an alkali/transition metal binuclear complexes wherein the macrocycle demonstrated the Janus reactivity with one cavity acting as a porphyrinoid and the other mimicking the crown ether.

Abstract
In this contribution, Co(PMe3)3Cl (1), bis(silylene) cobalt chlorides Co(LSi:)2(PMe3)2Cl (LSi: = {PhC(NtBu)2}SiCl (2); {p-CH3C6H4C(NtBu)2}SiCl (3); and {p-tBuC6H4C(NtBu)2}SiCl (4)) and bis(silylene) iron chlorides Fe(LSi:)2(PMe3)2Cl (LSi: = {PhC(NtBu)2}SiCl (5); {p-CH3C6H4C(NtBu)2}SiCl (6); {p-tBuC6H4C(NtBu)2}SiCl (7) and Fe(PMe3)2Cl2 (8)) were synthesized to study the effects of different metals and silylene ligands on the catalytic activity of complexes 1-8 in dinitrogen silylation reaction. The experimental results indicate that there is no substantial difference in catalytic activity between the phosphine cobalt complex 1 and the silylene cobalt chlorides 2-4 although the cobalt silylene complex 2 has slightly better catalytic activity than complexes 1, 3 and 4 in the dinitrogen silylation. Silylene iron complexes 5-7 are more active than the phosphine iron complex 8. Among the three silylene iron(I) chlorides 5-7, complex 5 is the most effective catalyst for dinitrogen silylation and 402 equiv. of N(SiMe3)3 could be obtained per Fe atom. In the dinitrogen silylation reaction catalyzed by iron complexes, the introduction of the silylene ligand made the silylene iron complexes 5-7 more active than the phosphine iron complex 8. In addition, iron chlorides 5-8 are more effective catalysts than cobalt(I) chlorides 1-4 for the dinitrogen silylation reaction. Complexes 3, 4, 6 and 7 were new complexes, and their molecular structures were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.

Abstract
A novel dinuclear silylene cobalt complex [((Me3P)2Co)(PMe2)(CoCl(PMe3))(Si(NCH2PPh2)2C6H4)] (1) supported by the [PSi(silylene)P] ligand was prepared through the reaction of N-heterocyclic [PSiP] pincer ligand L1 (HSiCl(NCH2PPh2)2C6H4) with Co(PMe3)4. Complex [((Me3P)2Co)2(Si(NCH2PPh2)2C6H4)] (2) was formed through the reaction of complex 1 with MeLi. To the best of our knowledge, complexes 1 and 2 are the first examples of dinuclear silylene cobalt complexes supported by the [PSi(silylene)P] ligand. A new preligand L2 (SiCl2(NCH2PPh2)2C6H4) was synthesized, and the reaction of preligand L2 with Co(PMe3)4 afforded silyl cobalt complex [((Me3P)2Co)(SiCl(NCH2PPh2)2C6H4)] (3). The reaction of 3 with CO delivered cobalt carbonyl complex [((Me3P)(CO)Co)(Si(NCH2PPh2)2C6H4)]2O (4). The catalytic activity of cobalt complexes 1-4 on the hydrosilylation of alkenes was explored. Among the four complexes, complex 1 has the best catalytic activity. The catalytic process could be promoted with NaBHEt3 as an additive, and a complete conversion with an excellent selectivity of 98:2 (b/l) could be reached at 120 °C within 8 min for aryl alkenes. A possible catalytic cycle was proposed on the basis of the experimental results and literature reports, with a cobalt hydride complex as an active intermediate. The molecular structure of complexes 1-4 was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.

Abstract
Since the late 19th century, heavier tetrylene- and tetrylyne-transition metal chemistry has formed an important cornerstone in both main-group and organometallic chemistry alike. Driven by the success of carbene systems, significant efforts have gone towards the thorough understanding of the heavier group 14 derivatives, with examples now known from across the d-block. This now leads towards applications in cooperative bond activation, and moves ultimately towards well-defined catalytic systems. This review aims to summarise this vast field, from initial discoveries of tetrylene and tetrylyne complexes, to the most recent developments in reactivity and catalysis, as a platform to the future of this exciting, blossoming field.

Abstract
Bis-silylenes do not only act as strong chelating σ-donor ligands, but also exhibit cooperative behaviour in the activation of small molecules. Three different P-Si containing molecules were prepared from the reaction between tBuCP and different bis-silylenes, which are bridged by ferrocenediyl, diaminobenzene, or o-carborane.

Abstract
This review article focuses on amidinatotetrylenes that potentially can (or have already shown to) behave as bi- or tridentate ligands because they contain at least one amidinatotetrylene moiety (silylene, germylene or stannylene) and one (or more) additional coordinable fragment(s). Currently, they are being widely used as ligands in coordination chemistry, small molecule activation and catalysis. This review classifies those that have been isolated as transition metal-free compounds into five families that differ in the position(s) of the donor group(s) (D) on the amidinatotetrylene moiety, namely: ED{R1NC(R2)NR1}, EX{DNC(R2)NR1}, EX{R1NC(D)NR1}, EX{DNC(R2)ND} and E{R1NC(R2)ND}2 (E=Si, Ge or Sn). Those that do not exist as transition metal-free compounds but have been observed as ligands in transition metal complexes are cyclometallated and ring-opened amidinatotetrylene ligands. This article presents schematic descriptions of their structures, the approaches used for their syntheses and a quick overview of their involvement (as ligands) in transition metal-catalysed reactions. The literature is covered up to the end of 2023.

Abstract
E(hmds)(bqfam) (E = Ge (1a), Sn (1b); hmds = N(SiMe3)2, bqfam = N,N'-bis(quinol-8-yl)formamidinate), which are amidinatotetrylenes equipped with quinol-8-yl fragments on the amidinate N atoms, have been synthesized from the formamidine Hbqfam and Ge(hmds)2 or SnCl(hmds). Both 1a and 1b are fluxional in solution at room temperature, as the E atom oscillates from being attached to the two amidinate N atoms to being chelated by an amidinate N atom and its closest quinolyl N atom (both situations are similarly stable according to density functional theory calculations). The hmds group of 1a and 1b is still reactive and the deprotonation of another equivalent of Hbqfam can be achieved, allowing the formation of the homoleptic derivatives E(bqfam)2 (E = Ge, Sn). The reactions of 1a and 1b with [AuCl(tht)] (tht = tetrahydrothiophene), [PdCl2(MeCN)2], [PtCl2(cod)] (cod = cycloocta-1,5-diene), [Ru3(CO)12] and [Co2(CO)8] have been investigated. The gold(I) complexes [AuCl{κE-E(hmds)(bqfam)}] (E = Ge, Sn) have a monodentate κE-tetrylene ligand and display fluxional behavior in solution the same as that of 1a and 1b. However, the palladium(II) and platinum(II) complexes [MCl{κ3E,N,N'-ECl(hmds)(bqfam)}] (M = Pd, Pt; E = Ge, Sn) contain a κ3E,N,N'-chloridotetryl ligand that arises from the insertion of the tetrylene E atom into an M-Cl bond and the coordination of an amidinate N atom and its closest quinolyl N atom to the metal center. Finally, the binuclear ruthenium(0) and cobalt(0) complexes [Ru2{μE-κ3E,N,N'-E(hmds)(bqfam)}(CO)6] and [Co2{μE-κ3E,N,N'-E(hmds)(bqfam)}(μ-CO)(CO)4] (E = Ge, Sn) have a related κ3E,N,N'-tetrylene ligand that bridges two metal atoms through the E atom. For the κ3E,N,N'-metal complexes, the quinolyl fragment not attached to the metal is pendant in all the germanium compounds but, for the tin derivatives, is attached to (in the Pd and Pt complexes) or may interact with (in the Ru2 and Co2 complexes) the tin atom.

Abstract
In this study, three tetracoordinated bis(silylene) iron(II) chlorides, namely, [SiCHRSi]FeCl2 (1) (R = H), (2) (R = CH3), and (3) (R = Ph), were synthesized through the reactions of the three different bis(silylene) ligands [LSiCHRSiL] (L = PhC(NtBu)2, L1 (R = H), L2 (R = CH3), L3 (R = Ph)) with FeCl2·(THF)1.5 in THF. The bis(silylene) Fe complexes 1-3 could be used as effective catalysts for dinitrogen silylation, with complex 3 demonstrating the highest turnover number (TON) of 746 equiv among the three complexes. The catalytic mechanism was explored, revealing the involvement of the pentacoordinated bis(dinitrogen) iron(0) complexes [SiCHRSi]Fe(N2)2(THF), (4)-(6), as the active catalysts in the dinitrogen silylation reaction. Additionally, the cyclic silylene compound 10 was obtained from the reaction of L1 with KC8. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses confirmed the molecular structures of complexes 1-3 and 10 in the solid state.

Abstract
In order to study the effects of silylene ligands on the catalytic activity of carbonyl hydrosilylation catalyzed by cobalt phosphine complexes, readily available model catalysts are required. In this contribution, a comparative study of the hydrosilylation of aldehydes and ketones catalyzed by tris(trimethylphosphine) cobalt chloride, CoCl(PMe3)3 (1), and bis(silylene) cobalt chloride, Co(LSi:)2(PMe3)2Cl (2, LSi: = {PhC(NtBu)2}SiCl), is presented. It was found that both complexes 1 and 2 are good catalysts for the hydrosilylation of aldehydes and ketones under mild conditions. This catalytic system has a broad substrate scope and selectivity for multi-functional substrates. Silylene complex 2 shows higher activity than complex 1, bearing phosphine ligands, for aldehydes, but conversely, for ketones, the activity of complex 1 is higher than that of complex 2. It is worth noting that in the process of mechanistic studies the intermediates (PMe3)3Co(H)(Cl)(PhH2Si) (3) and (LSi:)2(PMe3)Co(H)(Cl)(PhH2Si) (4) were isolated from the stoichiometric reactions of 1 and 2 with phenylsilane, respectively. Further experiments confirmed that complex 3 is a real intermediate. A possible catalytic mechanism for the hydrosilylation of carbonyl compounds catalyzed by 1 was proposed based on the experimental investigation and literature reports, and this mechanism was further supported by DFT studies. The bis(silylene) complex 4 showed complicated behavior in solution. A series of experiments were designed to study the catalytic mechanism for the hydrosilylation of carbonyl compounds catalyzed by complex 2. According to the experimental results, the hydrosilylation of aldehydes catalyzed by 1 proceeds via a different mechanism than that of the analogous reaction with complex 2 as the catalyst. In the case of ketones, complex 4 is a real intermediate, indicating that both 1 and 2 catalyze the reaction by the same mechanism. The molecular structures of 3 and 4 were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.

Abstract
The base-free carbazolyl bromosilylene RSiBr (R = 1,8-bis(3,5-di-tert-butyl-phenyl)-3,6-di-tert-butyl-carbazolyl) reacts with (η2-C2H4)Pt(PPh3)2 and Pt(PCy3)2 to form platinasilacyclobutane R(Br)Si(C2H4)Pt(PPh3)2 (1) and silylene platinum complex R(Br)SiPt(PCy3)2 (2), respectively. When silylene complex 2 is treated with C2H4, the six-membered metallasilacycle R(Br)Si(C2H4)2Pt(PCy3)2 (3) is obtained. All compounds are characterised by XRD and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy.

Abstract
Two new bisphosphine [PCP] pincer cobalt(III) hydrides, [(L1)Co(PMe3)(H)(Cl)] (L11, L1 = 2,6-((Ph2P)(Et)N)2C6H3) and [(L2)Co(PMe3)(H)(Cl)] (L21, L2 = 2,6-((iPr2P)(Et)N)2C6H3), as well as one new bissilylene [SiCSi] pincer cobalt(III) hydride, [(L3)Co(PMe3)(H)(Cl)] (L31, L3 = 1,3-((PhC(tBuN)2Si)(Et)N)2C6H3), were synthesized by reaction of the corresponding protic [PCP] or [SiCSi] pincer ligands L1H, L2H, and L3H with CoCl(PMe3)3. Despite the similarities in the ligand scaffolds, the three cobalt(III) hydrides show remarkably different performance as catalysts in alkene hydrosilylation. Among the PCP pincer complexes, L11 has higher catalytic activity than complex L21, and both catalysts afford anti-Markovnikov selectivity for both aliphatic and aromatic alkenes. In contrast, the catalytic activity for alkene hydrosilylation of silylene complex L31 is comparable to phosphine complex L11, but a dependence of regioselectivity on the substrates was observed: While aliphatic alkenes are converted in an anti-Markovnikov fashion, the hydrosilylation of aromatic alkenes affords Markovnikov products. The substrate scope was explored with 28 examples. Additional experiments were conducted to elucidate these mechanisms of hydrosilylation. The synthesis of cobalt(I) complex (L1)Co(PMe3)2 (L17) and its catalytic properties for alkene hydrosilylation allowed for the proposal of the mechanistic variations that occur in dependence of reaction conditions and substrates.

Abstract
We have prepared two new silylene-phosphine-based hybrid ligands Si{N(R)C6H4(PPh2)}{PhC(NtBu)2} [R = TMS {trimethylsilyl} (1) and TBDMS {tert-butyldimethylsilyl} (2)], which possess two donor sites. Furthermore, the treatment of the bidentate ligand 1 with base metal halides {FeBr2, CoBr2, NiCl2·dme [nickel chloride(II) ethylene glycol dimethyl ether]} and 2 with NiBr2·dme [nickel bromide(II) ethylene glycol dimethyl ether] afforded four-coordinate six-membered metal complexes 3-6, respectively, which feature coordination from both Si(II) and P(III) sites. Subsequently, complexes 3 [(FeBr2)Si{N(SiMe3)C6H4(PPh2)}{PhC(NtBu)2}], 4 [(CoBr2)Si{N(SiMe3)C6H4(PPh2)}{PhC(NtBu)2}], 5 [(NiCl2)Si{N(SiMe3)C6H4(PPh2)}{PhC(NtBu)2}], and 6 [(NiBr2)Si{N(SitBuMe2)C6H4(PPh2)}{PhC(NtBu)2}] are studied for their redox and magnetic properties with the help of UV-vis spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, SQUID magnetometry, and theoretical calculations. Complexes 3-6 were found to display a paramagnetic behavior. All the compounds are well established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies.

Abstract
A family of germyl rhodium complexes derived from the PGeP germylene 2,2'-bis(di-isopropylphosphanylmethyl)-5,5'-dimethyldipyrromethane-1,1'-diylgermanium(II), Ge(pyrmPi Pr2 )2 CMe2 (1), has been prepared. Germylene 1 reacted readily with [RhCl(PPh3 )3 ] and [RhCl(cod)(PPh3 )] (cod=1,5-cyclooctadiene) to give, in both cases, the PGeP-pincer chloridogermyl rhodium(I) derivative [Rh{κ3 P,Ge,P-GeCl(pyrmPi Pr2 )2 CMe2 }(PPh3 )] (2). Similarly, the reaction of 1 with [RhCl(cod)(MeCN)] afforded [Rh{κ3 P,Ge,P-GeCl(pyrmPi Pr2 )2 CMe2 }(MeCN)] (3). The methoxidogermyl and methylgermyl rhodium(I) complexes [Rh{κ3 P,Ge,P-GeR(pyrmPi Pr2 )2 CMe2 }(PPh3 )] (R=OMe, 4; Me, 5) were prepared by treating complex 2 with LiOMe and LiMe, respectively. Complex 5 readily reacted with CO to give the carbonyl rhodium(I) derivative [Rh{κ3 P,Ge,P-GeR(pyrmPi Pr2 )2 CMe2 }(CO)] (6), with HCl, HSnPh3 and Ph2 S2 rendering the pentacoordinate methylgermyl rhodium(III) complexes [RhHX{κ3 P,Ge,P-GeMe(pyrmPi Pr2 )2 CMe2 }] (X=Cl, 7; SnPh3 , 8) and [Rh(SPh)2 {κ3 P,Ge,P-GeMe(pyrmPi Pr2 )2 CMe2 }] (9), respectively, and with H2 to give the hexacoordinate derivative [RhH2 {κ3 P,Ge,P-GeMe(pyrmPi Pr2 )2 CMe2 }(PPh3 )] (10). Complexes 3 and 5 are catalyst precursors for the hydroboration of styrene, 4-vinyltoluene and 4-vinylfluorobenzene with catecholborane under mild conditions.

Abstract
Halogen-substituted silylenes are an important building block for synthesizing silicon-based low-valent and multiple-bond species. However, the number of reports on heavier halosilylenes that contain bromine and iodine is still limited. Here, we present a convenient synthesis for bromo- and iodosilylenes supported by an iminophosphonamide ligand. The heavier halosilylenes [Ph2P(tBuN)2]SiX (2: X = Br, 3: X = I) were successfully synthesized via the halogen-exchange reaction of chlorosilylene 1 with alkali halides in THF. As a demonstration of the reactivity of 2 and 3, oxidative addition reactions of 2 and 3 with elemental selenium in C6D6 afforded the corresponding bromo- (5) or iodosilylene-selone (6) as colorless crystals. The molecular structures of 2, 3, 5, and 6 were fully characterized by spectroscopic means and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Furthermore, the effects of the halogen atom on the electronic state of halosilylenes 1-3 and halosilylene-selones 4-6 were investigated using density functional theory (DFT) calculations.

Abstract
Three novel iron dinitrogen hydrides, [FeH(iPr-PSiMeP)(N2)(PMe3)] (1), [FeH(iPr-PSiPhP)(N2)(PMe3)] (2), and [FeH(iPr-PSiPh)(N2)(PMe3)] (3), supported by a silyl ligand are synthesized for the first time by changing the electronic effect and steric hindrance of the ligands through the reaction of ligands L1-L3 with Fe(PMe3)4 in a nitrogen atmosphere. The ligands containing an electron-donating group with large steric hindrance on the phosphorus atom are beneficial for the formation of dinitrogen complexes. A penta-coordinate iron hydride [FeH(iPr-PSiPh)(PMe3)2] (4) was formed through the reaction of ligand L3 with Fe(PMe3)4 in an argon atmosphere under the same conditions. The reactions between complexes 1-3 with an atmospheric pressure of dihydrogen gas resulted in Fe(II) dihydrides, [(iPr-PSiMe(μ-H)P)Fe(H)2(PMe3)] (5), [(iPr-PSiPh(μ-H)P)Fe(H)2(PMe3)] (6) and [(iPr-PSiPh(μ-H))Fe(H)2(PMe3)2] (7), with an η2-(Si-H) coordination. The isolation of dihydrides 5-7 demonstrates the ability of the dinitrogen complexes 1-3 to realize the activation of dihydrogen under ambient temperature and pressure. The molecular structures of complexes 1-7 were elucidated by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The iron dinitrogen hydrides 1-3 are effective catalysts for the silylation of dinitrogen under ambient conditions and among them 3 is the best catalyst.

2-Ditertbutylphosphanylmethylpyrrole (H2pyrmPtBu2) and 2,2'-bis(diisopropylphosphanylmethyl)-5,5'-dimethyldipyrromethane ((HpyrmPiPr2)2CMe2) have been used to synthesize new P-donor-stabilized stannylenes in which the Sn atom is attached to one, SnCl(HpyrmPtBu2) (1) and Sn{N(SiMe3)2}(HpyrmPtBu2) (2), or two pyrrolyl-phosphane scaffolds, Sn(HpyrmPtBu2)2 (3), or to a dipyrromethane-diphosphane scaffold, Sn(pyrmPiPr2)2CMe2 (4). It has been found that stannylenes 3 and 4 are excellent precursors to transition metal complexes containing PSnP pincer-type ligands. Their reactions with chlorido transition metal complexes have afforded [PdCl{κ3P,Sn,P-SnCl(HpyrmPtBu2)2}] (6), [PdCl{κ3P,Sn,P-SnCl(pyrmPiPr2)2CMe2}] (7) and [Au{κ3P,Sn,P-SnCl(HpyrmPtBu2)2}] (8), which contain a PSnP pincer-type chloridostannyl ligand. While complexes 6 and 7 are square-planar palladium(II) complexes, compound 8 is an uncommon gold(I) complex having a T-shaped coordination geometry with a very long Sn-Au bond (3.120 Å). The T-shaped palladium(0) complex [Pd{κ3P,Sn,P-Sn(pyrmPiPr2)2CMe2}] (9), which contains an unprecedented PSnP pincer-type stannylene that behaves as a Z-type (σ-acceptor) ligand, has been prepared from 4 and [Pd(η3-C3H5)(η5-C5H5)].

Abstract
Herein the new nickel silylene [PhC(NtBu)2SiNi(C5Me5)]2, which features a square planar central ring motif consisting of two silicon and two nickel atoms is presented. The title compound was obtained by an insertion of the Ni(0) precursor [Ni(cod)2] (cod = 1,5-cyclooctadiene) in the Si-C bond of the silylene [PhC(NtBu)2Si(C5Me5)]. Analytic characterisation including mass spectrometry as well as IR and Raman spectroscopies was combined with quantum chemical calculations to get an insight on the bonding situation within the four-membered Si-Ni-ring.

Abstract
A series of rhenium complexes bearing a pyridine-based PNP-type pincer ligand are synthesized from rhenium phosphine complexes as precursors. A dinitrogen-bridged dirhenium complex bearing the PNP-type pincer ligands catalytically converts dinitrogen into ammonia during the reaction with KC8 as a reductant and [HPCy3 ]BArF 4 (Cy=cyclohexyl, ArF =3,5-(CF3 )2 C6 H3 ) as a proton source at -78 °C to afford 8.4 equiv of ammonia based on the rhenium atom of the catalyst. The rhenium-dinitrogen complex also catalyzes silylation of dinitrogen in the reaction with KC8 as a reductant and Me3 SiCl as a silylating reagent under ambient reaction conditions to afford 11.7 equiv of tris(trimethylsilyl)amine based on the rhenium atom of the catalyst. These results demonstrate the first successful example of catalytic nitrogen fixation under mild reaction conditions using rhenium-dinitrogen complexes as catalysts.

Abstract
As prevalent cofactors in living organisms, iron-sulfur clusters participate in not only the electron-transfer processes but also the biosynthesis of other cofactors. Many synthetic iron-sulfur clusters have been used in model studies, aiming to mimic their biological functions and to gain mechanistic insight into the related biological systems. The smallest [2Fe-2S] clusters are typically used for one-electron processes because of their limited capacity. Our group is interested in functionalizing small iron-sulfur clusters with redox-active ligands to enhance their electron storage capacity, because such functionalized clusters can potentially mediate multielectron chemical transformations. Herein we report the synthesis, structural characterization, and catalytic activity of a diferric [2Fe-2S] cluster functionalized with two o-phenylenediamide ligands. The electrochemical and chemical reductions of such a cluster revealed rich redox chemistry. The functionalized diferric cluster can store up to four electrons reversibly, where the first two reduction events are ligand-based and the remainder metal-based. The diferric [2Fe-2S] cluster displays catalytic activity toward silylation of dinitrogen, affording up to 88 equiv of the amine product per iron center.

Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of Fe, Co and Ni complexes supported by silylene ligands in the past ten years are summarized. Due to the decrease of the electron cloud density on the Si atom after coordination, the downfield shift of the 29Si chemical shift is accompanied by the coordination between the free silylene ligand and metal. The strong electron-donating ability of silylene makes the metal center more electron-rich, which is conducive to the oxidative addition reaction in the metal center. In some cases, the coordination ability of silylene is stronger than those of phosphine and carbene ligands. Therefore, silylene transition metal complexes have better catalytic activity. The further challenges in this field are to develop new polydentate silylene ligands, synthesize chelate silylene-phosphine and silylene-carbene ligands, and design new silylene transition metal complexes for more catalytic research.

Abstract
N2 is fixed as NH3 industrially by the Haber-Bosch process under harsh conditions, whereas biological nitrogen fixation is achieved under ambient conditions, which has prompted development of alternative methods to fix N2 catalyzed by transition metal molecular complexes. Since the early 21st century, catalytic conversion of N2 into NH3 under ambient conditions has been achieved by using molecular catalysts, and now H2O has been utilized as a proton source with turnover frequencies reaching the values found for biological nitrogen fixation. In this review, recent advances in the development of molecular catalysts for synthetic N2 fixation under ambient or mild conditions are summarized, and potential directions for future research are also discussed.

Abstract
Dinitrogen (N2 ) is the most abundant gas in Earth's atmosphere, but its inertness hinders its use as a nitrogen source in the biosphere and in industry. Efficient catalysts are hence required to ov. ercome the high kinetic barriers associated to N2 transformation. In that respect, molecular complexes have demonstrated strong potential to mediate N2 functionalization reactions under mild conditions while providing a straightforward understanding of the reaction mechanisms. This Review emphasizes the strategies for N2 reduction and functionalization using molecular transition metal and actinide complexes according to their proposed reaction mechanisms, distinguishing complexes inducing cleavage of the N≡N bond before (dissociative mechanism) or concomitantly with functionalization (associative mechanism). We present here the main examples of stoichiometric and catalytic N2 functionalization reactions following these strategies.

Abstract
This work describes the synthesis and coordination behavior of a new mixed-donor ligand PhC(NtBu)2 SiC6 H4 PPh2 (1) containing both silylene and phosphine donor sites. Ligand 1 was synthesized from a reaction of ortho-lithiated diphenylphosphinobenzene (LiC6 H4 PPh2 ) with chlorosilylene (PhC(NtBu)2 SiCl). Treatment of 1 with Se and GeCl2 resulted in SiIV compounds 2 and 3 by selective oxidation of the silylene donor. This strong σ-donor ligand induces dissociation of CuCl and PhBCl2 leading to formation of ionic complexes 4 and 5 respectively. The reaction of 1 with ZnCl2 and AlCl3 resulted in the formation of chelate complexes 5 and 7, respectively, while treatment with EtAlCl2 and GaCl3 forms monodentate complexes 8 and 9. X-ray analysis of 4 showed that the copper is in the spiro center of the two five-membered rings. Moreover, the copper(I)chloride has not been oxidized but dissociates to Cu+ and [CuCl2 ]- . All the compounds are well characterized by mass spectrometry, elemental analysis, NMR spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies.

Abstract
Divalent lanthanide complexes of Eu (1) and Yb (2) coordinated by a chelating pyridine-based bis(silylene) ligand were isolated and fully characterized. Compared to the EuII complex 1, the YbII complex 2 presents a lower thermal stability, resulting in the activation of one SiII -N bond and formation of an YbIII complex (3), which features a unique silylene-pyridyl-amido ligand. The different thermal stability of 1 and 2 points towards reduction-induced cleavage of one SiII -N bond of the bis(silylene) ligand. Successful isolation of the corresponding redox-inert bis(silylene) CaII complex (5) was achieved at low temperature and thermal decomposition into a CaII complex (4) bearing the same silylene-pyridyl-amido ligand was identified. In this case, the thermolysis reaction proceeds through another, non-redox induced, mechanism. An alternative higher yielding route to 4 was developed through an in situ generated silylene-pyridyl-amine proligand.

The Effect of Substituents on the Formation of Silyl [PSiP] Pincer Cobalt(I) Complexes and Catalytic Application in Both Nitrogen Silylation and Alkene Hydrosilylation. Abstract
Four different [PSiP]-pincer ligands L1-L4 ((2-Ph2PC6H4)2SiHR (R = H (L1) and Ph (L2)) and (2-iPr2PC6H4)2SiHR' (R' = Ph (L3) and H (L4)) were used to investigate the effect of substituents at P and/or Si atom of the [PSiP] pincer ligands on the formation of silyl cobalt(I) complexes by the reactions with CoMe(PMe3)4 via Si-H cleavage. Two penta-coordinated silyl cobalt(I) complexes, (2-Ph2PC6H4)2HSiCo(PMe3)2 (1) and (2-Ph2PC6H4)2PhSiCo(PMe3)2 (2), were obtained from the reactions of L1 and L2 with CoMe(PMe3)4, respectively. Under similar reaction conditions, a tetra-coordinated cobalt(I) complex (2-iPr2PC6H4)2PhSiCo(PMe3) (3) was isolated from the interaction of L3 with CoMe(PMe3)4. It was found that, only in the case of ligand L4, silyl dinitrogen cobalt(I) complex 4, [(2-iPr2PC6H4)2HSiCo(N2)(PMe3)], was formed. Our results indicate that the increasing of electron cloud density at the Co center is beneficial for the formation of a dinitrogen cobalt complex because the large electron density at Co center leads to the enhancement of the π-backbonding from cobalt to the coordinated N2. It was found that silyl dinitrogen cobalt(I) complex 4 is an effective catalyst for catalytic transformation of dinitrogen into silylamine. Among these four silyl cobalt(I) complexes, complex 1 is the best catalyst for hydrosilylation of alkenes with excellent regioselectivity. For aromatic alkenes, catalyst 1 provided Markovnikov products, while for aliphatic alkenes, anti-Markovnikov products could be obtained. Both catalytic reaction mechanisms were proposed and discussed. The molecular structures of complexes 1-4 were confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.
