Abstract
For first time, new innovative ruthenium N3-Dye anchored with selenium (Se) and N3 dye anchored with sulphur atoms were synthesized in a good yield. Dyes are applied and evaluated in performance of dye sensitized solar cell. N3-Se dye showed superior photochemical& electrochemical behavior and high rate electron transfer across anode surface than N3-S dye. The better optical and electrochemical activities would make Se-dye a candidate for applications in solar cells. Half life time of N3-S showed a single exponential decay with an average lifetime of 0.8 ns. For N3-Se dye, decay curve was fitted by sum two exponential functions with 75% and 25% counts have 2.5 ns and 30 ns respectively. Solar cells were fabricated and analyzed to determine their solar-to-electric conversion efficiency under standard AM 1.5 sunlight. Commercial N3 dyes showed current density (Jsc) of 17.813 mA cm-2, open circuit potential (Voc) of 0.678 V, filling factor (FF) of 0.607 and conversion efficiencies (η) of 7.3%. Corresponding values for N3-S dye, Jsc 11.2 mA cm-2, Voc 0.650 V, FF 0.681 and η 5%. Se-N3 dye, showed Jsc = 6.670 mA cm-2, Voc = 0.6004 V, FF = 0.77 and η = 3.09%. Long lifetime of N3-Se caused low practical performance.

Abstract
A mononuclear iridium-based complex with a primary amine group (named Ir-NH2), a mononuclear ruthenium-based complex with a butanoic acid group (named Ru-COOH) and the corresponding heterodinuclear complex containing an iridium and ruthenium center via an amide bond bridge (named Ir-Ru) were designed and successfully synthesized in this study. The photophysical and electrochemical properties and ECL performances of these three metal complexes under various experimental conditions were well characterized. For the first time, the insights from this comprehensive comparison study indicate that the two metal-based subunits with comparable luminescent properties are significant in the design of bimetallic-based multicolor luminophores at the molecular level, which helps us to further understand the emission performances of bimetallic complexes and to rationally design more efficient corresponding organometallic luminophores with multicolor emission for wide applications in the future.

Abstract
This paper reports on the synthesis and characterization of two new polypyridyl-hydrazone Schiff bases, (E)-N′-(6-oxo-1,10-phenanthrolin-5(6H)-ylidene)thiophene-2-carbohydrazide (L1) and (E)-N′-(6-oxo-1,10-phenanthrolin-5(6H)-ylidene)furan-2-carbohydrazide (L2), and their two Ru(II) complexes of the general formula [RuCl(DMSO)(phen)(Ln)](PF6). Considering that hydrazides are a structural part of severa l drugs and metal complexes containing phenanthroline derivatives are known to interact with DNA and to exhibit antitumor activity, more potent anticancer agents can be obtained by covalently linking the thiophene acid hydrazide or the furoic acid hydrazide to a 1,10-phenanthroline moiety. These ligands and the Ru(II) complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, electronic, vibrational, 1H NMR, and ESI-MS spectroscopies. Ru is bound to two different N-heterocyclic ligands. One chloride and one S-bonded DMSO in cis-configuration to each other complete the octahedral coordination sphere around the metal ion. The ligands are very effective in inhibiting cellular growth in a chronic myelogenous leukemia cell line, K562. Both complexes are able to interact with DNA and present moderate cytotoxic activity, but 5 min of UV-light exposure increases cytotoxicity by three times.

Abstract
Electroplex emission is rarely seen in ruthenium polypyridyl complexes, and there have been no reports from light-emitting electrochemical cells (LECs) to date. Here, for the first time, near-infrared (NIR) emission via the electroplex mechanism in a LEC based on a new blend of ruthenium polypyridyl complexes is described. The key factor in the design of the new complexes is the 0.4 V decrease in the oxidation half-potential of Ru(ii)/Ru(iii) in [Ru(DPCO)(bpy)2]ClO4 (DPCO = diphenylcarbazone, bpy = 2,2 bipyridine), which is about one-third of the value for benchmark [Ru(bpy)3](ClO4)2, as well as the long lifetime of excited states of 350-450 ns. The LEC based on the new blend with a narrow band gap (≈1.0 eV) of a Ru(DPCO) complex and Ru(bpy)3 2+ can produce an electroluminescence spectrum centred at about 700 nm, which extends to the NIR region with a high external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 0.93% at a very low turn-on voltage of 2.6 V. In particular, the very simple LEC structure was constructed from indium tin oxide (anode)/Ru(DPCO):Ru(bpy)3 2+/Ga:In (cathode), avoiding any polymer or transporting materials, as well as replacing Al or Au by a molten alloy cathode. This system has promising applications in the production of LECs via microcontact or inkjet printing.

Abstract
We report on the exploitation of a new tetrazole-substituted 1,10-phenanthroline and a 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) ancillary ligand modified with an electron-donating group in cationic ruthenium complexes. This complex, placed in between two electrodes without any polymer, demonstrates high efficiency near-infrared (NIR) electroluminescence (EL). The comparison between bpy and its methyl-substituted ancillary ligand shows that the cationic Ru tetrazolate complex containing methyl groups exhibits a red shift in the EL wavelength from 620 to 800 nm compared to [Ru(bpy)3]2+ and an almost twofold reduction in the turn-on voltage, i.e., from 5 to 3 V, with respect to 5-tetrazole-1,10-phenanthroline. An external quantum efficiency of 0.95% for the dimethyl derivative is demonstrated, which is a remarkable result for non-doped NIR light electrochemical cells based on ruthenium polypyridyl.

Abstract
A conjugated bis-terpyridine bridging ligand, 2-(4-(2,6-di(pyridin-2-yl)pyridin-4-yl)phenyl)-6-(2-(4-(2,6-di(pyridin-2-yl)pyridin-4-yl)phenyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-6-yl)-1H-benzo[d] imidazole (tpy-BPhBzimH2-tpy), was designed in this work by covalent coupling of 3,3'-diaminobenzidine and two 4'-(p-formylphenyl)-2,2':6',2″-terpyridine units to synthesize a new series of bimetallic Ru(II)-terpyridine light-harvesting complexes. Photophysical and electrochemical properties were modulated by the variation of the terminal ligands in the complexes. The new compounds were thoroughly characterized by 1H NMR spectroscopy, high-resolution mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis. Absorption spectra of the complexes consist of very strong ligand-centered π-π* and n-π* transitions in the UV, metal-to-ligand, and intraligand charge transfer bands in the visible regions. Steady-state and time-resolved emission spectral measurements indicate that the complexes exhibit moderately intense luminescence at room temperature within the spectral domain of 653-687 nm having luminescence lifetimes in the range between 6.3 and 55.2 ns, depending upon terminal tridentate ligand and solvent. Variable-temperature luminescence measurements suggest substantial increase of the energy gap between luminescent 3metal-to-ligand charge transfer state and nonluminescent 3metal centered in the complexes compared to the parent [Ru(tpy)2]2+. Each of the three bimetallic complexes exhibits only one reversible couple in the positive potential window with almost no detectable splitting corresponding to simultaneous oxidation of the two remote Ru centers. All the complexes possess a number of imidazole NH protons, which became sufficiently acidic upon metal ion coordination. By utilizing these NH protons, we thoroughly studied anion recognition properties of the complexes in pure organic as well as predominantly aqueous media through multiple optical channels and spectroscopic methods. Finally computation investigations employing density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT were done to examine the electronic structures of the complexes and accurate assignment of experimentally observed optical spectral bands.

Abstract
Tetrazole/tetrazolate monocyclopentadienyliron(II) and ruthenium(II) compounds of general formulas [(η5-C5H5)M(dppe)(N4(H)CC6H4NO2)][PF6]/[(η5-C5H5)M(dppe)(N4CC6H4NO2)] were investigated for their pH-switching second-order nonlinear optical (SONLO) properties. Compounds [(η5-C5H5)M(dppe)(N4CC6H4NO2)] (M = Fe, Ru) and compound [(η5-C5H5)Ru(dppe)(N4(H)CC6H4NO2)][PF6] were fully characterized by (1H-, 13C-, 31P-) NMR, cyclic voltammetry, and elemental analysis, and compounds [(η5-C5H5)Fe(dppe)(N4CC6H4NO2)] and [(η5-C5H5)Ru(dppe)(N4(H)CC6H4NO2)][PF6] were further characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction; the synthesis of [(η5-C5H5)Fe(dppe)(N4(H)CC6H4NO2)][PF6] was unsuccessful. Time-dependent density functional theory calculations were performed using PBE0 and CAM-B3LYP functionals to evaluate the first hyperpolarizability (βtot) of the tetrazole/tetrazolate complexes and for a detailed analysis of the experimental data. Both functionals predict (i) high first hyperpolarizabilities for the tetrazolate complexes [(η5-C5H5)M(dppe)(N4CC6H4NO2)], with βtot[Ru] ≈ 1.2βtot[Fe], and (ii) a 3-fold reduction in βtot[Ru] upon protonation, in complex [(η5-C5H5)Ru(dppe)(N4(H)CC6H4NO2)]+, forecasting [(η5-C5H5)Ru(dppe)(N4CC6H4NO2)]/[(η5-C5H5)Ru(dppe)(N4(H)CC6H4NO2)]+ complexes as on/off, pH-switchable SONLO forms.

Abstract
The present review is aimed at reporting on the most advanced and recent applications of immunochemical imaging techniques for the localization of proteins within complex and multilayered paint stratigraphies. Indeed, a paint sample is usually constituted by the superimposition of different layers whose characterization is fundamental in the evaluation of the state of conservation and for addressing proper restoration interventions. Immunochemical methods, which are based on the high selectivity of antigen-antibody reactions, were proposed some years ago in the field of cultural heritage. In addition to enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays for protein identification, immunochemical imaging methods have also been explored in the last decades, thanks to the possibility to localize the target analytes, thus increasing the amount of information obtained and thereby reducing the number of samples and/or analyses needed for a comprehensive characterization of the sample. In this review, chemiluminescent, spectroscopic and electrochemical imaging detection methods are discussed to illustrate potentialities and limits of advanced immunochemical imaging systems for the analysis of paint cross-sections.

Abstract
Bidentate chelation, meso-2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA), was used as a stabilizer for the synthesis of CdTe quantum dots (QDs). The bidentate chelate QDs, characterized with FT-IR, PL, and UV/Vis spectroscopy; element analysis; and high-resolution transmission electron microscope, exhibited surface traps due to the large surface/volume ratio of QD particle and the steric hindrance of the DMSA molecule. The unpassivated surface of the QDs produced a narrower band gap than the core and electrochemiluminescent (ECL) emission at relatively low cathodic potential. In air-saturated pH 7.0 buffer, the QDs immobilized on electrode surface showed an intense ECL emission peak at -0.85 V (vs. Ag/AgCl). H(2)O(2) produced from electrochemical reduction of dissolved oxygen was demonstrated to be the co-reactant, which avoided the need of strong oxidant as the co-reactant and produced a sensitive analytical method for peroxidase-related analytes. Using hydroquinone/horseradish peroxidase/H(2)O(2) as a model system, a new, reagentless, phenolic, ECL biosensor for hydroquinone was constructed, based on the quenching effect of ECL emission of QDs by consumption of co-reactant H(2)O(2). The biosensor showed a linear range of 0.2-10 μM with acceptable stability and reproducibility. This work opens new avenues in the search for new ECL emitters with excellent analytical performance and makes QDs a more attractive alternative in biosensing.

Abstract
In the title complex, [Ag(C3H3N4O2)]n, the AgI atom is four-coordinated in a slightly distorted tetrahedral coordination geometry by two N atoms from two tetrazole-1-acetate (tza) ligands and two O atoms from the other two tza ligands. The tza ligand bridges two Ag atoms through the carboxylate O atoms and simultaneously binds to the other two Ag atoms through the tetrazole N atoms, forming a two-dimensional network parallel to (100).
