Abstract
Structural conjugation greatly affects the optical and electronic properties of the COF photocatalyst. Herein, we show that 2D hydrazone COFs with either π-extended biphenyl (BPh-COF) or acetylene (AC-COF) frameworks demonstrated distinct charge transfer and photocatalytic performances. The two COFs show good crystallinity and decent porosity as their frameworks are enforced by intra/interlayers hydrogen bonding. However, computational and experimental data reveal that AC-COF managed broader visible-light absorption and narrower optical bandgaps and performed efficient photoinduced charge separation and transfer in comparison with BPh-COF, meaning that the ethynyl skeleton with enhanced planarity better improves the π-conjugation of the whole structure. As a result, AC-COF exhibited an ideal bandgap for rapid oxidative coupling of amines under visible-light irradiation. Furthermore, taking advantage of its better charge transfer properties, AC-COF demonstrated considerable enhanced product conversion and notable functional tolerance for metallaphotocatalytic C-O cross-coupling of a wide range of both aryl bromides and chlorides with alcohols. More importantly, besides being recoverable, AC-COF showcased the previously inaccessible etherification of dihaloarene. This report shows a facile approach for manipulating the structure-activity relationship and paves the way for the development of a COF photocatalyst for solar-to-chemical energy conversion.

Abstract
The development of sp2 -carbon-linked covalent organic frameworks (sp2 c-COFs) as artificial photocatalysts for solar-driven conversion of CO2 into chemical feedstock has captured growing attention, but catalytic performance has been significantly limited by their intrinsic organic linkages. Here, a simple, yet efficient approach is reported to improve the CO2 photoreduction on metal-free sp2 c-COFs by rationally regulating their intrinsic π-conjugation. The incorporation of ethynyl groups into conjugated skeletons affords a significant improvement in π-conjugation and facilitates the photogenerated charge separation and transfer, thereby boosting the CO2 photoreduction in a solid-gas mode with only water vapor and CO2 . The resultant CO production rate reaches as high as 382.0 µmol g-1 h-1 , ranking at the top among all additive-free CO2 photoreduction catalysts. The simple modulation approach not only enables to achieve enhanced CO2 reduction performance but also simultaneously gives a rise to extend the understanding of structure-property relationship and offer new possibilities for the development of new π-conjugated COF-based artificial photocatalysts.

Abstract
With our continuous endeavors in seeking neuraminidase (NA) inhibitors, we reported herein three series of novel oseltamivir amino derivatives with the goal of exploring the druggable chemical space inside the 150-cavity of influenza virus NAs. Among them, around half of the compounds in series C were demonstrated to be better inhibitors against both wild-type and oseltamivir-resistant group-1 NAs than oseltamivir carboxylate (OSC). Notably, compounds 12d, 12e, 15e, and 15i showed more potent or equipotent antiviral activity against H1N1, H5N1, and H5N8 viruses compared to OSC in cellular assays. Furthermore, compounds 12e and 15e exhibited high metabolic stability in human liver microsomes (HLMs) and low inhibitory effect on main cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes, as well as low acute/subacute toxicity and certain antiviral efficacy in vivo. Also, pharmacokinetic (PK) and molecular docking studies were performed. Overall, 12e and 15e possess great potential to serve as anti-influenza candidates and are worthy of further investigation.

Abstract
Porphyrin-based non-fullerene acceptors (NFAs) have shown pronounced potential for assembling low-bandgap materials with near-infrared (NIR) characteristics. Herein, panchromatic-type porphyrin-based molecules (POR1-POR5) are proposed by modulating end-capped acceptors of a highly efficient porphyrin-based NFA PORTFIC(POR) for organic solar cells (OSCs). Quantum chemical structure-property relationship has been studied to discover photovoltaic and optoelectronic characteristics of POR1-POR5. Results show that optoelectronic properties of the POR1-POR5 are better in all aspects when compared with the reference POR. All proposed NFAs particularly POR5 proved to be the preferable porphyrin-based NIR sensitive NFA for OSCs applications owing to lower energy gap (1.56 eV), transition energy (1.11 eV), binding energy (Eb =0.986 eV), electron mobility (λe =0.007013Eh ), hole mobility (λh =0.004686 Eh ), high λmax =1116.27 nm and open-circuit voltage (Voc =1.96 V) values in contrast to the reference POR and other proposed NFAs. This quantum chemical insight provides sufficient evidence about excellent potential of the proposed porphyrin-based NIR sensitive NFA derivatives for their use in OSCs.

Abstract
Zinc(ii) tetraphenylporphyrin (ZnTPP) has very broad application prospects in the fields of supramolecular chemistry, solar cells and nanomaterials. In this paper, by using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), we systematically investigated the ZnTPP molecule and its four derivatives formed by thermal annealing were characterized unambiguously by bond-resolved STM (BR-STM). The electronic properties of the ZnTPP molecule and its four cyclodehydrogenation products were investigated by scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STS) combined with DFT calculations. The spatial distribution of molecular frontier orbitals of four products was obtained by dI/dV mappings. This work gives rise to a full-scale investigation of ZnTPP on Au(111), which will be potentially useful in nanodevices and optoelectronics.

Abstract
A new low-molecular-weight porphyrin-based polymer, PPPyDPP, with pyridine-capped diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) has been synthesized, and its optical and electrochemical properties were investigated. The polymer is prepared with a low content of homocoupling units and gives a widely spread absorption from 400 to 900 nm with a narrow optical band gap of 1.46 eV. The highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels are respectively located at -5.27 and -3.78 eV, respectively. PPPyDPP was used as the electron donor, whereas [6,6]-phenyl-C71-butyric acid methyl ester (PC71BM) and bis(rhodanine)indolo-[3,2-b]-carbazole (ICzRd2), a nonfullerene small molecule, were used as acceptors for the fabrication of solution-processed bulk heterojunction polymer solar cells. Overall power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 7.31 and 9.16% (record high for porphyrin-containing polymers) were obtained for PC71BM and ICzRd2, respectively. A high Voc of 1.01 V and a low Eloss of 0.45 eV may explain this new record.

Abstract
The complexes (R = Me, Et, Bu; X = H, SMe) exhibit well-defined multi-exponential emissions (2-4 components) in the solid state at 77 and 298 K and in 2MeTHF glasses at 77 K due to multiple frozen conformers exhibiting variable dihedral angles formed by the PtP2C2 and C6H4 planes. The demonstration was made using X-ray crystallography at various temperatures where different sites are present in the samples, and using geometry optimization (DFT computations) where various stable conformers are noted.

Abstract
Upon efficient quaternization and salt metathesis of stable triethyl ferrocene/ruthenocene phosphines, styrene-based phosphonium triflate monomers with four different stoichiometric ratios of Fe/Ru were synthesized. Free-radical polymerization of the monomers afforded four polyelectrolytes (Mn: 38 650-69 100 g mol-1, Đ: 3.16-4.10) that retained many of the spectroscopic and electrochemical properties of the ferrocene/ruthenocene units. TGA studies demonstrated the thermal stability (onset of decomposition: ∼310 °C) and high char yields (33-54% at 1000 °C) of the polyelectrolytes. Pyrolysis in N2/H2 (95/5) (film thickness of ∼6 μm, 1000 °C, 3 h) yielded crystalline, mixed-phase nanomaterials containing iron, ruthenium, and phosphorus with compositions influenced by the structure of the parent polyelectrolytes.

Abstract
Low bandgap A-π-D copolymer, P(BdP-DEHT), consisting of alternating BOronDIPYrromethene (BODIPY) and thiophene units bridged by ethynyl linkers, and its porphyrin-enriched analogue, P(BdP/Por-DEHT), were prepared, and their optical and electrochemical properties were studied. P(BdP-DEHT) exhibits strong absorption in the 500-800 nm range with an optical bandgap of 1.74 eV. On the basis of cyclic voltammetry, the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels are evaluated to be -5.40 and -3.66 eV, respectively. After the anchoring of zinc(II) porphyrin on the BODIPY unit, P(BdP/Por-DEHT) displays broadened absorption, thanks to porphyrins, and the optical bandgap decreases to 1.59 eV because of extension of BODIPY conjugation. The resulting estimated HOMO and LUMO energy levels, respectively, move to -5.32 and -3.73 eV. After optimization of the P(BdP-DEHT) or P(BdP/Por-DEHT) to PC71BM weight ratio to 1:2 in dichlorobenzene solution, the bulk heterojunction polymer solar cells show overall power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 3.03 and 3.86%, respectively. After solvent vapor annealing (SVA) treatment in CH2Cl2 for 40 s, the PCEs increased to 7.40% [Voc of 0.95 V, Jsc of 12.77 mA/cm2, and fill factor (FF) of 0.61 with energy loss of 0.79 eV] and 8.79% (Voc of 0.92 V, Jsc of 14.48 mA/cm2, and FF of 0.66 with energy loss of 0.67 eV). The increase in the PCE for P(BdP/Por-DEHT)-based devices is mainly attributed to the enhancement in Jsc and FF, which may be related to the broader absorption spectra, lower band gap, and better charge transport of P(BdP/Por-DEHT) compared to P(BdP-DEHT). This could also be related to the optimized nanoscale morphology of the active layer for both efficient exciton dissociation and charge transport toward the electrodes and a balanced charge transport in the device, induced by the SVA treatment of the active layer.

Abstract
Two organometallic ligands L1 (trans-[p-MeSC6H4C≡C-Pt(PR3)2-C≡CC6H4SMe; R = Me]) and L2 (R = Et) react with CuX salts (X = Cl, Br, I) in MeCN to form one-dimensional (1D) or two-dimensional (2D) coordination polymers (CPs). The clusters formed with copper halide can either be step cubane Cu4I4, rhomboids Cu2X2, or simply CuI. The formed CPs with L1, which is less sterically demanding than L2, exhibit a crystallization solvent molecule (MeCN), whereas those formed with L2 do not incorporate MeCN molecules in the lattice. These CPs were characterized by X-ray crystallography, thermogravimetric analysis, IR, Raman, absorption, and emission spectra as well as photophysical measurements in the presence and absence of crystallization MeCN molecules for those CPs with the solvent in the lattice (i.e., [(Cu4I4)L1·MeCN] n (CP1), [(Cu2Br2)L1·2MeCN] n (CP3), and [(Cu2Cl2)L1·MeCN] n (CP5)). The crystallization molecules were removed under vacuum to evaluate the porosity of the materials by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (N2 at 77 K). The 2D CP shows a reversible type 1 adsorption isotherm for both CO2 and N2, indicative of microporosity, whereas the 1D CPs do not capture more solvent molecules or CO2.

Abstract
This review focuses on the recent development in the rigid-rod metallopolymers of late transition metals based on triple-bond building blocks. The synthesis, structure-property relationships and potential applications of organometallic poly(arylene ethynylene)s will be discussed in detail. These functional metal-based polymers can exhibit intriguing optical, electronic and magnetic properties. Considerable focus is placed on the design strategies towards tuning the optical bandgap and emission color (spanning almost the whole visible spectrum) of this class of metallopolymers, and the investigation of their use as active materials for light/electrical energy conversion and energy and information storage. The ongoing scientific challenges and future prospects of this research field are also highlighted.

Abstract
A novel Pt-bisacetylide small molecule (Pt-SM) featuring "roller-wheel" geometry was synthesized and characterized. When compared with conventional Pt-containing polymers and small molecules having "dumbbell" shaped structures, Pt-SM displays enhanced crystallinity and intermolecular π-π interactions, as well as favorable panchromatic absorption behaviors. Organic solar cells (OSCs) employing Pt-SM achieve power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) up to 5.9%, the highest reported so far for Pt-containing polymers and small molecules.

Abstract
A high conductive 2D COF polyporphyrin (TThPP) linked by 4-thiophenephenyl groups was synthesized through an in situ chemical oxidative polymerization on the surface of copper foil. The TThPP films were used as the anode of lithium-ion battery, which exhibited high specific capacities, excellent rate performances, and long cycle lives due to the alignment of 2D polyporphyrin nanosheets, and they (i) can highly efficiently adsorb Li atoms, (ii) have short-ended paths for the fast lithium ion diffusion, and (iii) open nanopores holding electrolyte. The reversible capacity is up to 666 mAh/g. This is the first example of an organic 2D COF for an anode of lithium-ion battery and represents an important step toward the use of COFs in the next-generation high-performance lithium-ion battery.
