Abstract
Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs; e.g., physical abuse) can impact lifelong mental health both directly and intergenerationally, with effects transmitted from the parent to the child. Several physiological mechanisms have been proposed to explain the impacts of ACEs on mental health. The purpose of this narrative review was to synthesize and critique the peer-reviewed literature on physiological mechanisms proposed to underlie the impacts of ACEs on mental health, specifically: (1) hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis functioning, (2) inflammation, (3) genetic inheritance and differential susceptibility, (4) epigenetics, (5) brain structure and function, (6) oxidative stress, and (7) metabolic profiles. We searched Google Scholar using variations of the terms "adverse childhood experiences", "mechanisms", and "mental health" to locate relevant peer-reviewed literature. We also mined citations of the identified literature to find additional important sources. The role of inflammation in the etiology of mental health conditions among those exposed to ACEs appeared promising, followed by hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis functioning, brain structure and function, genetics, epigenetics, metabolism, and lastly, oxidative stress. Replication studies that examine the associations among ACEs, genetic inheritance and differential susceptibility, epigenetics, oxidative stress, and metabolism are required to better define links with mental health.

Abstract
BACKGROUND High-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) is widely recognized for its protective effects against cognitive decline. However, recent studies have presented conflicting results, with some suggesting no significant cognitive benefits or even an increased risk of dementia associated with high HDL-C levels. For those who suffer from depression, the cognitive benefits of HDL-C may be diminished or reversed. The purpose of this study is to investigate the associations between HDL-C, cognitive ability, and depressive symptoms in middle-aged and older Chinese adults. METHODS The datasets utilized were sourced from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) for the years 2011 and 2015, comprising 4,302 participants. Cross-lagged models were employed to explore the temporal sequence between cognitive performance and HDL-C levels, and to examine the interplay among depression, cognition, and HDL-C. Confounding factors such as sociodemographic characteristics, sleep conditions, and history of chronic diseases were controlled for. RESULTS The analysis revealed unidirectional effects of baseline impaired cognition and greater severity of depression on increased HDL-C levels at follow-up (β = - 0.036 and β = 0.028, respectively, P < 0.05). However, higher baseline HDL-C levels did not significantly predict cognitive performance or depression 4 years later (β = - 0.008 and β = 0.023, respectively, P > 0.05). Depressive symptoms and cognition were found to have a significant bidirectional association (β = - 0.026 and β = - 0.053, respectively, P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Cognitive impairment and depression are associated with higher HDL-C levels, whereas higher HDL-C levels do not appear to protect against cognitive decline or depressive symptoms. These findings underscore the importance of preserving cognitive and mental health, which may lower the likelihood of cardiovascular disease and dementia. Future studies should validate these findings and develop targeted interventions tailored to specific populations.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Factors related to depression differ depending on the population studied, and studies focusing on the population of non-manual workers are lacking. Thus, we aimed to identify the risk factors related to depression in non-manual workers in China. METHOD A large-scale cross-sectional survey was conducted between January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2020, which included 264,557 non-manual workers from one large physical examination institution in China. The Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-2) was used to measure depression. A total of 73 variables covering aspects of sociodemographic characteristics, general examination data, health history, symptoms, eating habits, work situation, general sleep conditions and laboratory findings were included in the collection and analysis. Machine learning algorithms of neural networks and logistic regressions were used to assess the risk of depression and explore its factors. RESULTS Age, feeling fatigue, sleep quality, overeating, waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDLC) were found to be factors of depression. Two prediction models for depression among Chinese non-manual workers were developed with good AUC (0.820), accuracy (0.943), sensitivity (0.743-0.773), and specificity (0.700-0.729). LIMITATIONS Data were collected at one time point only, meaning that this study cannot explain the causality of the factor on depression. CONCLUSIONS Our finding that age, feeling fatigue, sleep quality, overeating, WHR, and HDL-C were risk factors for depression in non-manual workers may provide strong evidence for health care facilities to develop preventive measures or government policies for non-manual workers.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Previous research has suggested a connection between major depressive disorder (MDD) and certain comorbidities, including gastrointestinal issues, thyroid dysfunctions, and glycolipid metabolism abnormalities. However, the relationships between these factors and asymmetrical alterations in functional connectivity (FC) in adults with MDD remain unclear. METHOD We conducted a study on a cohort of 42 MDD patients and 42 healthy controls (HCs). Participants underwent comprehensive clinical assessments, including evaluations of blood lipids and thyroid hormone levels, as well as resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (Rs-fMRI) scans. Data analysis involved correlation analysis to compute the parameter of asymmetry (PAS) for the entire brain's functional connectome. We then examined the interrelationships between abnormal PAS regions in the brain, thyroid hormone levels, and blood lipid levels. RESULTS The third-generation ultra-sensitive thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH3UL) level was found to be significantly lower in MDD patients compared to HCs. The PAS score of the left inferior frontal gyrus (IFG) decreased, while the bilateral posterior cingulate cortex (Bi-PCC) PAS increased in MDD patients relative to HCs. Notably, the PAS score of the left IFG negatively correlated with both TSH and total cholesterol (CHOL) levels. However, these correlations lose significance after the Bonferroni correction. CONCLUSION MDD patients demonstrated abnormal asymmetry in resting-state FC (Rs-FC) within the fronto-limbic system, which may be associated with CHOL and thyroid hormone levels.

Abstract
Background Cardiovascular disease (CVD) and depression have a bidirectional association, with inflammation and metabolic factors being common important triggers for both conditions. However, as a novel inflammatory and metabolic marker, platelet-to-HDL-C ratio (PHR) has not been established in relation to depression and cardiovascular disease. Materials and methods Participants aged 20 years and older were included in the 2005-2018 NHANES database. PHR was calculated as the ratio of platelet count (1000 cells/μL) to HDL-C (mmol/L). The Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) was used to diagnose depression, with a cutoff value of 10. Weighted logistic regression analysis and restricted cubic spline (RCS) analysis were employed to examine the association between PHR and depression-related features. Additionally, weighted COX regression and RCS were used to analyze the association of PHR with CVD mortality in patients with depression. Receiver operating characteristic curves were used to assess whether PHR had an advantage over HDL-C in predicting depression. Finally, the mediating role of PHR in the latest cardiovascular health indicator Life's Essential 8 and depression was explored. Results A total of 26,970 eligible participants were included, including 2,308 individuals with depression, representing approximately 160 million U.S. adults when weighted. After full adjustment, we estimated that the odds ratio (OR) of depression associated with a per standard deviation (SD) increase in PHR was 1.06 (95% CI: 1.01-1.12, P=0.03). The restricted cubic spline (RCS) analysis indicated a linear association (Nonlinear P=0.113). When PHR was divided into four groups based on quartiles and included in the model after full adjustment for depression risk factors, participants in quartile 2, quartile 3, and quartile 4 of PHR showed a trend of increasing risk of depression compared to the lowest quartile group (P trend=0.01). In addition, weighted COX regression and RCS revealed that a per SD increase in PHR was associated with a higher risk of CVD mortality among patients with depression (HR: 1.38, 95% CI: 1.05-1.81, P=0.02, Nonlinear P=0.400). Subgroup analyses showed that current alcohol consumption enhanced the association between PHR and depression (P for interaction=0.017). Furthermore, the areas under the ROC curves (AUC) were 0.556 (95% CI, 0.544-0.568; P < 0.001) for PHR and 0.536 (95% CI, 0.524-0.549; P < 0.001) for HDL-C (PDeLong = 0.025). Finally, mediation analysis indicated that PHR was an intermediate mechanism between LE8 and depression (mediation proportion=5.02%, P=0.02). Conclusion In U.S. adults, an increase in PHR linearly increases the risk of depression and CVD mortality among individuals with depression. Additionally, PHR has a better predictive advantage for depression compared to HDL-C. Furthermore, PHR significantly mediates the association between LE8 scores and depression.

Abstract
(1) Background: Schizophrenia is a chronic and progressive neuropsychiatric illness. Apart from positive and negative symptoms, 98% of the population diagnosed with schizophrenia have impaired cognitive functioning, which significantly influences the quality of life. The correlation between lipids and cognitive functioning has been well established. Our study aimed to investigate correlations between cognitive functions, the severity of schizophrenia symptoms, and lipid profiles. (2) Methods: Fifty-two women diagnosed with schizophrenia participated in this study. Cognitive functioning was measured using the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST). The Positive and Negative Symptom Scale (PANSS) was used. The serum lipid profile, including low-density lipoproteins (LDLs), high-density lipoproteins (HDLs), and triglycerides was measured. (3) Results: Better cognitive functions were associated with normal HDL levels, while low HDL levels correlated with worse WSCT scores. Only the PANSS negative subscale showed a correlation with HDL levels. Correlations with chronicity of schizophrenia and the patient's age with poorer cognitive functions, but not with symptom severity, were detected. Early/late age at onset did not influence WSCT scores. (4) Conclusions: Our results suggest high HDL levels might be a protective factor against cognitive impairment. The influences of age and illness duration also play a vital role in cognitive performance.

Abstract
Depression often coexists with many chronic diseases. However, previous studies mainly focused on the association between a single chronic disease or chronic diseases of the elderly and depression. This study included 26,177 adults aged more than 20 years old from the 2007-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Depression was determined by nine questions which were from the Patient Health Questionnaire. We used propensity score matching to reduce the influence of confounders between the depression and non-depression groups. A multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyze the relationship between various chronic diseases and the number of diseases and depression. The prevalence of depression in participants with chronic diseases was higher than that in participants without chronic diseases, 20.8% of participants with chronic bronchitis had depression. After matching and controlling sleep, insurance and smoking, the highest risk of depression (OR = 1.524; 95% CI: 1.162-2.001) was found in people with stroke, followed by arthritis (OR = 1.464; 95% CI: 1.275-1.681). The percentage of participants with two or more chronic diseases with depression and without depression was 68.9% and 51.9%, respectively. Participants with five or more chronic diseases had the highest risk of depression (OR = 3.653; 95% CI: 3.001-4.446). In conclusion, patients with chronic diseases are at higher risk for depression, especially those with multiple chronic diseases. This study suggested that we should pay more attention to the mental health of people with chronic diseases.

Abstract
Individuals with mood disorders are predisposed to metabolic dysfunction, while those with metabolic dysregulation such as diabetes and obesity experience more severe depressive symptoms. Both metabolic dysfunction and mood disorders are independently associated with cognitive deficits. Therefore, given their close association, this study aimed to explore the association between metabolic dysfunction in individuals with mood disorders in relation to cognitive outcomes. A comprehensive search comprised of these three domains was carried out; a random-effects meta-analysis pooling mean cognitive outcomes was conducted (PROSPERO ID: CRD42022295765). Sixty-three studies were included in this review; 26 were synthesized in a quantitative meta-analysis. Comorbid metabolic dysregulation was associated with significantly lower global cognition among individuals with mood disorders. These trends were significant within each mood disorder subgroup, including major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, and self-report depression/depressive symptoms. Type 2 diabetes was associated with the lowest cognitive performance in individuals with mood disorders, followed by peripheral insulin resistance, body mass index ⩾25 kg/m2, and metabolic syndrome. Significant reduction in scores was also observed among individual cognitive domains (in descending order) of working memory, attention, executive function, processing speed, verbal memory, and visual memory. These findings demonstrate the detrimental effects of comorbid metabolic dysfunction in individuals with mood disorders. Further research is required to understand the underlying mechanisms connecting mood disorders, metabolism, and cognition.

Abstract
Chronic dysregulation of peripheral lipids has been found to be associated with depression and cognition, but their interaction has not been investigated. Growing evidence has highlighted the association between peripheral lipoprotein levels with depression and cognition with inconsistent results. We assessed the association between peripheral lipids, depression, and cognition while evaluating their potential interactions using robust clinically relevant predictors such as lipoprotein levels and chronic medical disorders that dysregulate lipoproteins. We report an association between peripheral lipids, depression, and cognition, suggesting a common underlying biological mechanism driven by lipid dysregulation in two independent studies. Analysis of a longitudinal study of a cohort at high or low familial risk for major depressive disorder (MDD) (n = 526) found metabolic diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, and other cardiovascular diseases, were associated with MDD and cognitive outcomes. Investigating a cross-sectional population survey of adults in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2011-2014 (NHANES) (n = 2377), depression was found to be associated with high density lipoprotein (HDL) and cognitive assessments. In the familial risk study, medical conditions were found to be associated with chronic lipid dysregulation and were significantly associated with MDD using the structural equation model. A positive association between chronic lipid dysregulation and cognitive scores was found in an exploratory analysis of the familial risk study. In a complementary study, analysis of NHANES revealed a positive association of HDL levels with cognition. Further analysis of the NHANES cohort indicated that depression status mediated the interaction between HDL levels and cognitive tests. Importantly, the protective effect of HDL on cognition was absent in those with depressive symptoms, which may ultimately result in worse outcomes leading to cognitive decline. These findings highlight the potential for the early predictive value of medical conditions with chronic lipid dyshomeostasis for the risk of depression and cognitive decline.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIM Ethylene oxide (EO) is a commonly used compound with known health risks. However, the specific association between EO exposure and the development of depressive symptoms has not been well established. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the potential association between EO exposure, as indicated by hemoglobin adduct of ethylene oxide (HbEO) levels, and the occurrence of depressive symptoms. METHODS We employed logistic regression, restricted cubic spline, and subgroup analysis to investigate the association between EO exposure and the occurrence of depressive symptoms. Additionally, we conducted a mediating effect analysis to explore the potential factors influencing the association between EO exposure and depressive symptoms. RESULTS Elevated HbEO levels were associated with the development of depressive symptoms. After adjusting for potential confounders, the highest quartile of HbEO levels showed an odds ratio (OR) of 3.37 [95 % confidence interval (CI): 1.87-6.10, P = 0.002] compared with the lowest quartile. Additionally, a linear association was observed between HbEO levels and the risk of depressive symptoms. We also revealed that the levels of several inflammatory factors and triglycerides mediated the association between EO exposure and the occurrence of depressive symptoms. CONCLUSIONS Higher levels of EO exposure were related to an increased risk of developing depressive symptoms. The analysis also suggested that the inflammatory response might play a mediating role in the pathway from EO exposure to depressive symptoms.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Vulnerability theories propose that suboptimal levels of lipid markers and proinflammatory proteins predict future heightened depression. Scar models posit the reverse association. However, most studies that tested relationships between non-specific immune/endocrine markers and depression did not separate temporal inferences between people and within-person and how different immunometabolism markers related to unique depression symptoms. We thus used cross-lagged prospective network analyses (CLPN) to investigate this topic. METHODS Community midlife women (n = 2224) completed the Center for Epidemiologic Studies-Depression scale and provided biomarker samples across five time-points spanning 9 years. CLPN identified significant relations (edges) among components (nodes) of depression (depressed mood, somatic symptoms, interpersonal issues), lipid markers [insulin, fasting glucose, triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL), high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL)], and proinflammatory proteins [C-reactive protein (CRP), fibrinogen], within and across time-points. All models adjusted for age, estradiol, follicle-stimulating hormone, and menopausal status. RESULTS In within-person temporal networks, higher CRP and HDL predicted all three depression components (d = 0.131-2.112). Increased LDL preceded higher depressed mood and interpersonal issues (v. somatic symptoms) (d = 0.251-0.327). Elevated triglycerides predicted more somatic symptoms (v. depressed mood and interpersonal problems) (d = 0.131). More interpersonal problems forecasted elevated fibrinogen and LDL levels (d = 0.129-0.331), and stronger somatic symptoms preceded higher fibrinogen levels (d = 0.188). CONCLUSIONS Results supported both vulnerability and scar models. Long-term dysregulated immunometabolism systems, social disengagement, and related patterns are possible mechanistic accounts. Cognitive-behavioral therapies that optimize nutrition and physical activity may effectively target depression.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Scar theory proposes that heightened depression and anxiety precede and predict worse cognitive functioning outcomes, whereas the vulnerability theory posits the opposite pathway. However, most investigations on this topic have been cross-sectional, precluding causal inferences. Thus, we used cross-lagged prospective network analyses to facilitate causal inferences in understanding the relations between psychopathology and cognitive functioning components. METHODS Racially-diverse midlife women (n = 1816) participated in the Study of Women's Health Across the Nation at two time-points, spanning one year apart. Five psychopathology (anxiety severity, depressed mood, somatic symptoms, positive affect, interpersonal problems) and four cognitive functioning nodes (working memory (WM), processing speed (PS), facial recognition (FCR), and verbal memory (VRM)) were assessed. All analyses adjusted for age, menopausal status, estradiol, and follicle-stimulating hormones. RESULTS Contemporaneous networks yielded notable inverse between-node relations (edges) between interpersonal problems and reduced FCR and PS, and between depressed mood and lower FCR, VRM, or PS. Nodes that had the highest likelihood to bridge other constructs were positive affect, anxiety severity, WM, and VRM. Temporal networks produced edges consistent with the scar (v. vulnerability) hypotheses. Higher somatic symptoms were related to reduced PS and WM, and greater depressed mood was correlated with lower future PS and WM. Also, higher anxiety severity coincided with decreased future PS and WM. Greater positive affect was associated with stronger future PS, FCR, and WM. Also, positive affect had the strongest relations with other nodes. CONCLUSIONS Findings suggest the importance of targeting symptoms and cognitive functioning simultaneously.

Abstract
BACKGROUNDS Co-occurrence of thyroid dysfunction, metabolic disturbances, and worsening clinical symptoms in major depressive disorder (MDD) patients with suicidal attempts (SA) are common. However, their relationship in SA patients remains unexplored. We aimed to (1) determine the independent association of thyroid dysfunction, clinical symptoms, and metabolic disturbances with SA; and (2) identify their interactions in SA patients via the network approach. METHODS 1718 FEDN MDD patients were recruited. Depressive, anxiety, and psychotic symptoms were assessed by the Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HAMD), the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HAMA), and the Positive and Negative Syndrome Subscale positive subscale, respectively. The serum levels of thyroid hormones and other metabolic parameters were assessed. Logistic regression model was applied to determine the correlates of SA. Network analysis was applied to determine the interaction between thyroid dysfunction, clinical symptoms, and metabolic disturbances. RESULTS SA patients had significant worse metabolic disturbances, thyroid dysfunction, and clinical symptoms than non-SA patients. Thyroid peroxidases antibody, thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), HAMD scores, HAMA scores, and systolic blood pressure was independently associated with SA. Network analysis suggested that TSH was the hub of the network, exhibiting substantial associations with metabolic disturbances, anxiety, and psychotic symptoms in SA patients. CONCLUSIONS Our work highlights the predominant role of serum TSH levels in the pathophysiology of SA. Regular thyroid function tests might help early detect SA. Targeting increased TSH levels may help reduce metabolic disturbances and clinical symptoms in SA patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This research aims explored the sleep disorder (SD) role in major depressive disorder (MDD), and the SD influencing their cognition. METHODS 372 MDD patients and 457 healthy controls (HCs) were enrolled. RESULTS Patients increased a 38.88 times SD risk compared with HCs. In patients, visuospatial/constructional score was lower in SD than non-SD, and PSQI score was negatively associated with visuospatial/constructional score of SD. In SD and non-SD, RBANS scores were lower in MDD than HCs, excepted for visuospatial/constructional in non-SD. CONCLUSION The SD as a MDD risk factor, has more serious visuospatial/constructional impairment alleviated via improving sleep/depression in patients.

Abstract
Lower serum levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) have been suggested to indicate higher suicide risk and various psychiatric symptoms. Previously, we reported that lower serum LDL-C levels are associated with loneliness, social phobia, isolated life with little social support, and lower trust in others among young non-clinical females. Thus, we hypothesize that schizoid personality traits may be associated with lower serum LDL-C. We here verified this hypothesis using non-clinical data and clinical data with schizophrenia. Using the database from the Midlife in Japan (MIDJA), a cohort of residents living in Tokyo, we analyzed whether schizoid-related interpersonal characteristics were associated with LDL-C. In addition, we assessed the association between blood biomarkers including LDL-C and schizoid personality traits in 101 adult non-clinical volunteers. Finally, we evaluated the interaction between LDL-C and social decision making of patients with schizophrenia. In female non-clinical volunteers, serum LDL-C level was a predictive factor and negatively correlated with schizoid personality traits. Female patients with schizophrenia, whose serum LDL-C levels were lower, tended not to trust other females. The present findings suggest that LDL-C may influence schizoid personality traits in females, which provide a basis for further investigation into the biological aspects of schizoid personality disorder.

Abstract
Background: This narrative review presents the association between metabolic syndrome (MetS), along with its components, and cognition-related disorders, as well as the potential reversal role of diet against cognitive impairment by modulating MetS. Methods: An electronic research in Medline (Pubmed) and Scopus was conducted. Results: MetS and cognitive decline share common cardiometabolic pathways as MetS components can trigger cognitive impairment. On the other side, the risk factors for both MetS and cognitive impairment can be reduced by optimizing the nutritional intake. Clinical manifestations such as dyslipidemia, hypertension, diabetes and increased central body adiposity are nutrition-related risk factors present during the prodromal period before cognitive impairment. The Mediterranean dietary pattern stands among the most discussed predominantly plant-based diets in relation to cardiometabolic disorders that may prevent dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and other cognition-related disorders. In addition, accumulating evidence suggests that the consumption of specific dietary food groups as a part of the overall diet can improve cognitive outcomes, maybe due to their involvement in cardiometabolic paths. Conclusions: Early MetS detection may be helpful to prevent or delay cognitive decline. Moreover, this review highlights the importance of healthy nutritional habits to reverse such conditions and the urgency of early lifestyle interventions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The World Health Organization (WHO) has considered type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) a major global health challenge because of its high prevalence worldwide. T2DM can affect patients' personal, social, and economic statuses. On the other hand, due to the increasing prevalence of T2DM, Quality of Life (QOL) has received more attention in recent years. OBJECTIVE The present study was conducted to investigate the relationships between QOL and physical activity level, body mass index, fasting blood sugar, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglyceride, total cholesterol, HbA1c, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure among Iranian patients with uncomplicated T2DM. METHODS This cross-sectional study was conducted on 135 participants selected through consecutive sampling. The study data were collected using International Physical Activity Questionnaire and Short-Form Health Survey Questionnaire. Then, the data were entered into the SPSS ver. 28 software, and Pearson's correlation was used to measure the correlation between the variables. Linear regression was also employed. The significance level was set at 0.05. RESULTS The significant association was observed between gender (p = 0.007), HDL level (p = 0.02), and gender-adjusted physical activity (p = 0.002) with QOL. CONCLUSIONS Due to the association between physical activity and HDL level with QOL in patients with uncomplicated T2DM, they should be given the necessary training to improve their physical activity and regulate HDL level. Also, empowering them in this matter improves their QOL.

Abstract
Depression has been addressed as a predictor of worse outcomes in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs). Nutritional status plays a great role in treatment of this population. The Mediterranean diet (MeDi) has been associated with lower levels of depressive symptoms. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to determine the rate of depression and its correlations to nutritional status and dietary habits according to the MeDi in Dalmatian KTRs. We included 115 KTRs, and data about body composition and anthropometric, laboratory and clinical parameters were obtained for each study participant. The Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) questionnaire was used to assess depressive symptoms and the Mediterranean Diet Serving Score (MDSS) was used to assess adherence to the MeDi. We found the presence of depressive symptoms in 21.73% of the Dalmatian KTRs. BDI-II score was reciprocally associated with fat mass, trunk visceral fat, anthropometric parameters of obesity, triglyceride levels and olive oil consumption. Inverse associations were found between BDI-II score and skeletal muscle mass, handgrip strength, MCV, hemoglobin levels and consumption of fish and white meat, as suggested by the MeDi. Our results showed the interconnections between nutritional status, dietary habits and depression in Dalmatian KTRs.
