Abstract
Development of simple and reliable sensor for detecting vitamin content is of great significance for guiding human nutrition metabolism, overseeing the quality of food or drugs, and advancing the treatment of related diseases. In this work, a simple electrochemical sensor was conveniently fabricated by modification a carbon electrode with vertically-ordered mesoporous silica film (VMSF), enabling highly sensitive electrochemical detection of vitamin B2 (VB2) based on the dual enrichment of the analyte by the supporting electrode and nanochannels. The widely used glassy carbon electrode (GCE), was preactivated using simple electrochemical polarization, The resulting preactivated GCE (p-GCE) exhibited improved potential resolution ability and enhanced peak current of VB2. Stable modification of VMSF on p-GCE (VMSF/p-GCE) was achieved without introducing another binding layer. The dual enrichment effect of the supporting p-GCE and nanochannels facilitated sensitive detection of VB2, with a linear concentration ranged from 20 nM to 7 μM and from 7 μM to 20 μM. The limit of detection (LOD), determined based on a signal-to-noise ratio of three (S/N = 3), was found to be 11 nM. The modification of ultra-small nanochannels of VMSF endowed VMSF/p-GCE with excellent anti-interference and anti-fouling performance, along with high stability. The constructed sensor demonstrated the capability to achieve direct electrochemical detection of VB2 in turbid samples including milk and leachate of compound vitamin B tablet without the need for complex sample pretreatment. The fabricated electrochemical can be easily regenerated and has high reusability. The advantages of simple preparation, high detection performance, and good regeneration endow the constructed electrochemical sensor with great potential for direct detection of small molecule in complex samples.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
The deficiency of vitamin B2 can lead to many health problems. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a sensitive, selective and fast method for the determination of vitamin B2 in food samples. In this work, a sensitive, selective and low-cost electrochemical sensor was developed using poly (glutamic acid) and Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) for vitamin B2 in non-alcoholic beverage and milk samples.
Methods
The modification of the electrode surface was carried out by electropolymerization of glutamic acid on ZnO NPs–carbon paste electrode (ZnO NPS–CPE). The prepared electrodes were characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-Ray diffraction (XRD). CV and square wave voltammetry (SWV) were used to investigate the electrochemical behavior of vitamin B2 at the modified electrode. The effect of various parameters such as amount of ZnO NPs, polymerization cycle, concentration of the monomer, pH, scan rate and accumulation time were optimized to obtain maximum sensitivity at the modified electrode.
Results
The developed sensor showed high electrocatalytic activity towards vitamin B2. Under the optimized conditions, the developed sensor showed a linear response in the range 0.005–10 µM with a low detection limit of (LOD) 0.0007 ± 0.00001 µM and high sensitivity of 21.53 µA/µM.
Conclusions
A reproducible, repeatable, stable and selective sensor was successfully applied for the quantification of vitamin B2 in beverage and milk samples with acceptable recoveries in the range of 88–101%.

Abstract
Binary metal oxides with carbon nanocomposites have received extensive attention as research hotspots in the electrochemistry field owing to their tunable properties and superior stability. This work illustrates the development of a facile sonochemical strategy for the synthesis of a copper bismuthate/graphene (GR) nanocomposite-modified screen-printed carbon electrode (CBO/GR/SPCE) for the electrochemical detection of catechol (CT). The formation of an as-prepared CBO/GR nanocomposite was comprehensively characterized. The electrochemical behavior of the CBO/GR/SPCE toward CT was investigated by voltammetry and amperometry techniques. The fabricated CBO/GR/SPCE manifests an excellent electrocatalytic performance toward CT with a lower peak potential and a higher current value compared to those of CBO/SPCE, GR/SPCE, and bare SPCE. It is attributed to enhanced electro-catalytic activity, synergetic effects, and good active sites of the CBO/GR nanocomposite. Under the electrochemical condition, the CBO/GR/SPCE displayed a wide linear sensing range, trace-level detection limit, acceptable sensitivity, and excellent selectivity. Furthermore, our proposed CBO/GR electrode was employed successfully for CT detection in water samples.

Abstract
A AuNP-modified screen-printed carbon electrode (AuNP/SPCE) for monitoring important biomolecules, such as dopamine (DA) and riboflavin (RF), having a high potential for personalized medicine and for continuous monitoring of human health is here proposed. AuNPs were synthesized using the extract of Rhanterium suaveolens as a reducing medium and were characterized by UV-vis spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering (DLS), and scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM and TEM). The synthesized AuNPs appear spherical and present a bimodal size distribution with a maximum centered at around 30-50 nm. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) experiments demonstrated that the modified AuNP/SPCE sensor exhibits superior electrochemical performances to the bare SPCE. Low limits of detection (LODs) of 0.2 and 0.07 μM at S/N = 3 and sensitivities of 550.4 and 2399 μA mM-1 cm-2 were registered for DA and RF detection, respectively. Results demonstrate the promising electrochemical characteristics of the synthesized AuNPs and developed AuNP/SPCE electrochemical sensor for the determination of these important biomolecules.

Abstract
Nanomaterials have been extensively utilized in biosensing systems for highly sensitive and selective detection of a variety of biotargets. In this work, a facile, label-free, and ultrasensitive electrochemical DNA biosensor has been developed, based on "urchinlike" carbon nanotube-gold nanoparticle (CNT-AuNP) nanoclusters, for signal amplification. Specifically, electrochemical polymerization of dopamine (DA) was employed to modify a gold electrode for immobilization of DNA probes through the Schiff base reaction. Upon sensing the target nucleic acid, the dual-DNA (reporter and linker) functionalized AuNPs were introduced into the sensing system via DNA hybridization. Afterward, the end-modified single-wall carbon nanotubes with DNA (SWCNT-DNA) were attached to the surface of the AuNPs through linker-DNA hybridization that formed 3D radial nanoclusters, which generated a remarkable electrochemical response. Because of the larger contact surface area and super electronic conductivity of CNT-AuNP clusters, this novel designed 3D radial nanostructure exhibits an ultrasensitive detection of DNA, with a detection limit of 5.2 fM (a linear range of from 0.1 pM to 10 nM), as well as a high selectivity that discriminates single-mismatched DNA from fully matched target DNA under optimal conditions. This biosensor, which combines the synergistic properties of both CNTs and AuNPs, represents a promising signal amplification strategy for achieving a sensitive biosensor for DNA detection and diagnostic applications.

Abstract
Copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO Nps) were synthesized using Caesalpinia bonducella seed extract via a green synthetic pathway and were evaluated for electrocatalytic properties by carrying out electrochemical detection of riboflavin [vitamin B2 (VB2)]. The seeds of C. bonducella are known to have strong antioxidant properties arising due to the presence of various components, including citrulline, phytosterinin, β-carotene, and flavonoids, which serve as reducing, stabilizing, and capping agents. The synthesized CuO Nps were characterized using UV-visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetrc analysis-differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy and further used as a modifier for a graphite electrode surface. The modified electrode was electrochemically characterized by cyclic voltammetry, square-wave voltammetry, and chronoamperometry techniques and then assessed for electrocatalysis by carrying out the detection of VB2. The electrochemical sensor could be used for nanomolar detection of VB2 with an observed linear range of 3.13-56.3 nM with a limit of detection of 1.04 nM. The electrode showed good stability and reproducibility over a period of 120 days. The CuO Nps were further analyzed for antibacterial effect with Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, and in both cases, high antibacterial activity was clearly observed. The newly synthesized nanoparticles, thus, proved to be an interesting material for electrochemical and biological studies.

Abstract
An electrogenerated Polyarginine modified carbon paste electrode (PAMCPE) was fabricated through a simple electropolymerization procedure. The devised electrode was characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM). This electrode was utilized for electrocatalytic estimation of Riboflavin (RF) and its instantaneous resolution with ascorbic acid (AA) and folic acid (FA) in phosphate buffer solution (PBS) of pH 6.0 by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). It was observed to be a very responsive electrode for the electrochemical detection and quantification of RF. It was revealed that PAMCPE generates higher current response towards RF contrast to the bare carbon paste electrode (BCPE). Under optimized condition, the RF oxidation current values were linearly reliant on the RF concentration increment with a limit of detection (LOD) of 9.3·10-8 M using DPV. The stable PAMCPE was effectively applied for estimation of RF in B-complex pill and complex human blood serum samples.

Abstract
Herein we have engineered a smart nuclear targeting thiol-modified riboflavin-gold nano assembly, RfS@AuNPs, which accumulates selectively in the nucleus without any nuclear-targeting peptides (NLS/RGD) and shows photophysically in vitro DNA intercalation. A theoretical model using Molecular Dynamics has been developed to probe the mechanism of formation and stability as well as dynamics of the RfS@AuNPs in aqueous solution and within the DNA microenvironment. The RfS@AuNPs facilitate the binucleated cell formation that is reflected in the significant increase of DNA damage marker, γ-H2AX as well as the arrest of most of the HeLa cells at the pre-G1 phase indicating cell death. Moreover, a significant upregulation of apoptotic markers confirms that the cell death occurs through the apoptotic pathway. Analyses of the microarray gene expression of RfS@AuNPs treated HeLa cells show significant alterations in vital biological processes necessary for cell survival. Taken together, our study reports a unique nuclear targeting mechanism through targeting the riboflavin receptors, which are upregulated in cancer cells and induce apoptosis in the targeted cells.

Abstract
A whole-cell bioelectrochemical biosensing system for amperometric detection of riboflavin was developed. A "bioelectrochemical wire" (BW) consisting of riboflavin and cytochrome C between Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 and electrode was characterized. Typically, a strong electrochemical response was observed when riboflavin (VB2) was added to reinforce this BW. Impressively, the electrochemical response of riboflavin with this BW was over 200 times higher than that without bacteria. Uniquely, this electron rewiring process enabled the development of a biosensing system for amperometric detection of riboflavin. Remarkably, this amperometric method showed high sensitivity (LOD = 2.2 nM, S/N = 3), wide linear range (5 nM ∼ 10 μM, 3 orders of magnitude), good selectivity, and high resistance to interferences. Additionally, the developed amperometric method featured good stability and reusability. It was further applied for accurate and reliable determination of riboflavin in real conditions including food, pharmaceutical, and clinical samples without pretreatment. Both the cost-effectiveness and robustness make this whole-cell amperometric system ideal for practical applications. This work demonstrated the power of bioelectrochemical signal amplification with exoelectrogen and also provided a new idea for development of versatile whole-cell amperometric biosensors.

Abstract
The developed by us electrochemical device for vitamin B2 (VB2; riboflavin) determination, without preconcentration step, in real products exhibits high sensitivity, selectivity, stability and low detection limit compared to those described in the literature. The determination procedure was based on the monitoring of the reduction current signal of VB2 bound with dsDNA anchored to the electrode surface through intermediary - carboxyphenyl layer. The application of such intermediary layer formed during electroreduction of appropriate diazonium salt at CV peak potential guarantees high efficiency of hybridization process and thus fully available places for VB2 interaction. Moreover, such intermediary layer provides good electrical contact, what is very important in the case of electrochemical sensors. The analytical range of work of the proposed VB2 sensor was between 0.08-1µM (30-377μgL-1) of riboflavin concentration. The obtained detection (LOD) and quantification limits (LOQ) were 24±2 and 55±5μgL-1, respectively. The proposed VB2 detection method was used for determination of riboflavin content in commercially available dietary supplements and yolk of hen egg samples. The accuracy of the obtained data was proved using comparison with an independent method (HPLC FLD).
