Abstract
s-Triazine possesses an auspicious status in the field of drug discovery and development owing to its presence in many naturally occurring compounds as well as commercially available drugs like enasidenib, gedatolisib, bimiralisib, atrazine, indaziflam, and triaziflam. Easy, cost-effective, and efficient access to its derivatives in addition to their splendid biological activities such as anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, anticonvulsant, anti-tubercular, antidiabetic, antimicrobial, makes it an attractive heterocyclic nucleus in the field of medicinal chemistry. Other than the direct access of its derivatives from simple commercially available starting materials like amidine, the s-triazine derivatives have also been obtained starting from an inexpensive commercially available 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine (TCT) commonly known as cyanuric chloride. Owing to the high reactivity and the possibility of sequential substitution of TCT, a variety of biologically active heterocyclic scaffolds have been installed on this nucleus in order to have more potent compounds. These s-triazine-based heterocyclic hybrids have been reported to show enhanced biological activities in recent years. Therefore, it is important to summarize and highlight recent examples of these hybrids which is imperative to attract the attention of the drug development community.

Abstract
Since the beginning of the 21st century, triazine-based molecules have been employed to construct different organic materials due to their unique optoelectronic properties. Among their applications, photovoltaics stands out because of the current need to develop efficient, economic, and green alternatives to energy generation based mainly on fossil fuels. Here, we review all the development of triazine-based organic materials for solar cell applications, including organic solar cells, dye-sensitized solar cells, and perovskite solar cells. Firstly, we attempt to illustrate the main synthetic routes to prepare triazine derivatives. Then, we introduce the main aspects associated with solar cells and their performance. Afterward, we discuss different works focused on the preparation, characterization, and evaluation of triazine derivatives in solar cells, distinguishing the type of photovoltaics and the role of the triazine-based material in their performance (e.g., as a donor, acceptor, hole-transporting material, electron-transporting material, among others). Throughout this review, the progress, drawbacks, and main issues of the performance of the mentioned solar cells are exposed and discussed. Finally, some conclusions and perspectives about this research topic are mentioned.

Abstract
The molecules possessing triazine and tetrazine moieties belong to a special class of heterocyclic compounds. Both triazines and tetrazines are building blocks and have provided a new dimension to the design of biologically important organic molecules. Several of their derivatives with fine-tuned electronic properties have been identified as multifunctional, adaptable, switchable, remarkably antifungal, anticancer, antiviral, antitumor, cardiotonic, anti-HIV, analgesic, anti-protozoal, etc. The objective of this review is to comprehensively describe the recent developments in synthesis, coordination properties, and various applications of triazine and tetrazine molecules. The rich literature demonstrates various synthetic routes for a variety of triazines and tetrazines through microwave-assisted, solid-phase, metal-based, [4+2] cycloaddition, and multicomponent one-pot reactions. Synthetic approaches contain linear, angular, and fused triazine and tetrazine heterocycles through a combinatorial method. Notably, the triazines and tetrazines undergo a variety of organic transformations, including electrophilic addition, coupling, nucleophilic displacement, and intramolecular cyclization. The mechanistic aspects of these heterocycles are discussed in a detailed way. The bioorthogonal application of these polyazines with various strained alkenes and alkynes provides a new prospect for investigations in chemical biology. This review systematically encapsulates the recent developments and challenges in the synthesis and possible potential applications of various triazine and tetrazine systems.

Abstract
Herein, we report ligand-centered redox controlled Zn(II)-catalyzed multicomponent approaches for synthesizing pyrimidines and triazines. Taking advantage of the ligand-centered redox events and using a well-defined Zn(II)-catalyst (1a) bearing (E)-2-((4-chlorophenyl)diazenyl)-1,10-phenanthroline (L1a) as the redox-active ligand, a wide variety of substituted pyrimidines and triazines were prepared via dehydrogenative alcohol functionalization reactions. Pyrimidines were prepared via two pathways: (i) dehydrogenative coupling of primary and secondary alcohols with amidines and (ii) dehydrogenative coupling of primary alcohols with alkynes and amidines. Triazines were prepared via dehydrogenative coupling of alcohols and amidines. Catalyst 1a is well tolerant to a wide range of substrates yielding the desired pyrimidines and triazines in moderate to good isolated yields. A series of control reactions were performed to predict the plausible mechanism, suggesting that the active participation of the ligand-centered redox events enables the Zn(II)-complex 1a to act as an efficient catalyst for synthesizing these N-heterocycles. Electron transfer processes occur at the azo-aromatic ligand throughout the catalytic reaction, and the Zn(II)-center serves only as a template.

Abstract
An atom-efficient, straightforward method for the synthesis of 2,4,6-triaryl-1,3,5-triazines via iron-catalyzed cyclization of aldehydes with NH4I as the sole nitrogen source is demonstrated. This strategy works smoothly under air atmosphere, and affords symmetrical 2,4,6-trisubstituted and unsymmetrical 1,3,5-triazines with yields from 18% to 72%. Compared to other methods, the present protocol provides a straightforward and atom-efficient approach to 2,4,6-trisubstituted 1,3,5-triazines using an inexpensive, easily available ammonium salt as the sole nitrogen source. Research into the preliminary mechanism indicates that N-benzylidenebenzimidamides are involved in this cyclization reaction. An atom-efficient, straightforward method for the synthesis of 2,4,6-triaryl-1,3,5-triazines via iron-catalyzed cyclization of aldehydes with NH4I as the sole nitrogen source is demonstrated.![]()

Abstract
An efficient and simple methodology for Ullmann Cu(I)-catalyzed synthesis of di- and trisubstituted 1,3,5-triazine derivatives from dichlorotriazinyl benzenesulfonamide and corresponding nucleophiles is reported. Cations Cu(I) supported on macroporous and weakly acidic, low-cost industrial resin of polyacrylate type were used as a catalyst. The reaction times and yields were compared with traditional synthetic methods for synthesis of substituted 1,3,5-triazine derivatives via nucleophilic substitution of chlorine atoms in dichlorotriazinyl benzenesulfonamide. It was found that Ullmann-type reactions provide significantly shortened reaction times and, in some cases, also higher yields. Finally, trisubstituted s-triazine derivatives were effectively prepared via Ullmann-type reaction in a one-pot synthetic design. Six new s-triazine derivatives with potential biological activity were prepared and characterized.

Abstract
Covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs) with aromatic triazine linkages have recently received increasing interest for various applications because of their rich nitrogen content and high chemical stability. Owing to the strong aromatic C=N bond and high chemical stability, only a few CTFs are crystalline, and most CTFs are amorphous. Herein we report a new general strategy to give highly crystalline CTFs by in situ formation of aldehyde monomers through the controlled oxidation of alcohols. This general strategy allows a series of crystalline CTFs with different monomers to be prepared, which are shown to have higher thermal stability and enhanced performance in photocatalysis as compared with the less crystalline or amorphous CTFs. This open-system approach is very simple and convenient, which presents a potential pathway to large-scale industrial production of crystalline CTFs.

Abstract
The present work reports an inverse electron demand Diels-Alder (iEDDA)-type reaction to synthesize 1,3,5-trizines from acetophenones and amidines. The use of molecular iodine in a catalytic amount facilitates the functionalization of the sp3 C-H bond of acetophenones. This is a simple and efficient methodology for the synthesis of 1,3,5-triazines in good to excellent yields under transition-metal-free and peroxide-free conditions. The reaction is believed to take place via an in situ iodination-based oxidative elimination of formaldehyde. DFT calculations at the M062X/6-31+G(d,p) level were employed to investigate the reaction mechanism. Reaction barriers for the cycloaddition as well as a formaldehyde expulsion steps were computed, and a multistep mechanism starting with the nucleophilic attack by benzamidine on an in situ generated imine intermediate has been proposed. Both local and global reactivity descriptors were used to study the regioselectivity of the addition steps.
