Abstract
Syringoma is rare disease that in classical variant occurs mainly on lower eyelids. In previously published researches, there is increasing evidence that eruptive syringomas must be discussed as an inflammatory dermal reaction pattern. And there was a proposal to change a name from eruptive syringoma to reactive syringomatous proliferation in appropriate cases. We conduct retrospective study on histopathological archived material to study the histopathological findings in cases of eruptive syringomas and correlate it with hypothesis that eruptive syringomas is not true adnexal neoplasms "de novo" but a hyperplastic response of the acrosyringium to an inflammatory process.According to obtained data and literature correlation, we can conclude that there is apparent diversity in eruptive syringomas. Part of cases can be calculated as neoplastic lesions arising "de novo," and another part as reactive syringomatous proliferation due to preceding cutaneous inflammatory process. Thus, term "eruptive syringoma" may be changed in appropriate cases to a "reactive syringomatous proliferation."Clinical variants of eruptive syringoma with evidence of underlying inflammatory process may be more responsive on types of treatments used for inflammatory disorders. Thus, more global clinicopathological correlative researches should be conducted and classification with terminology should be appropriately changed.

Abstract
ABSTRACT A 43-year-old woman presented with a palpable, pruritic, minimally painful right vulvar lesion. Physical examination revealed approximately 2.0-cm tender nodule at 70' clock in the right labia majora. Histological sections of the excision specimen showed an unremarkable epidermis with large, well-circumscribed dermal proliferation with extension to the reticular dermis. Within this proliferation are small solid and ductal structures relatively evenly distributed in the sclerotic stroma. The epithelial elements consisted of monomorphous cuboidal cells and assumed round, oval, curvilinear, or have other peculiar geometric shapes, including "comma-like" or "tadpole"-like configurations. The tumor cells were positive for CEA, EMA, and estrogen receptor and negative for progesterone receptor. The clinical presentation and the deep extension of the tumor were similar to the microcystic adnexal carcinoma. Although a syringoma generally presents with multiple lesions and usually involves the superficial dermis, a syringoma with deep extension was favored based on the lack of follicular differentiation, atypia, mitoses, and perineural invasion. Microcystic adnexal carcinoma and syringoma have a morphologic overlap and are misdiagnosed in 30% of the cases. Thus, it is exceptionally important for pathologists to be aware of and be able to distinguish these entities. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of a solitary, painful vulvar syringoma with deep extension.

Abstract
Syringomas are benign adnexal neoplasms that may induce psychological stress when they are large or disfiguring or present in delicate regions such as the periorbital area. Despite the availability of various lasers for syringomas, no consensus has been established on the optimal laser setting and side effects of these therapies. The current review aims at understanding the efficacy and safety of various laser therapies available for the treatment of syringomas. A literature search was carried out using PubMed and Ovid databases for articles published from Jan 2000 through Mar 2022. Screening the eligible articles yielded twenty-seven studies, comprising clinical studies, case series, and case reports, which were included in this review. The CO2 laser is the most widely used ablative laser therapy but is usually associated with adverse events. Pinhole and multiple drilling methods using CO2 laser yielded excellent cosmetic results with minimal adverse effects. Fractional lasers reduced the downtime and complications compared to non-fractionated ones. Non-ablative fractional lasers could be advantageous in terms of easy operation, minimal side effects and moderate recovery period compared with ablative lasers. Large clinical trials are needed to generate strong evidence to guide clinicians in choosing the most appropriate laser therapy for syringoma treatment.

Abstract
Vulvar disease is common, and urologists are often the first providers to see patients with a vulvar skin condition. Primary vulvar dermatoses can be localized to the anogenital area or a manifestation of more diffuse cutaneous disease. Additionally, secondary dermatoses can develop from exogenous agents and inflammatory vaginitis. Vulvar conditions are challenging to diagnose due to location and different types of skin and mucosal epithelium involved. Herein, we provide an overview of non-infectious inflammatory vulvar dermatoses (Part I) and benign and malignant vulvar neoplasms (Part II), grouped by morphologic findings. We include diagnostic evaluation, workup, and management of these conditions.

Abstract
Syringomas commonly occur in women over the face, neck, and chest. They are usually asymptomatic and mainly of cosmetic concern. The vulva is an uncommon site for syringomas. A 45-year-old woman had asymptomatic lesions over the face, of 28 years duration and presented with vulvar papules, associated with severe pruritus for the past 2 months. Clinical and histopathological examination confirmed them to be syringomas. Coexistent facial and vulvar syringomas are rare. Further, vulvar syringomas presenting as pruritus vulvae is still rarer. We report a case with severe pruritus vulvae causing sufficient distress to seek medical care, which is remarkably unusual.

Abstract
Vulvar dermatology represents a challenge for many providers. Given that the vulva is both a gynecologic and dermatologic organ, patients with cutaneous lesions involving the vulva may present to primary care, gynecology, or dermatology. Particularly within dermatology, the vulva remains understudied, which can lead to anxiety among providers regarding appropriate next steps in the diagnosis and management of vulvar lesions. Thus, the purpose of this review is to highlight commonly encountered anatomic variants and benign neoplasms of the vulva, distinguish them from key pathologic mimickers, and provide guidance to practicing dermatologists on what may constitute normal vulvar variations.

Abstract
Objective: Syringoma is a benign adnexal neoplasm of sweat gland, usually presenting as extra-genital lesions, while vulvar localization is rare. Moreover, syringoma is an uncommon vulvar neoplasms. Case report: A 44-year-old woman with previous diagnosis of duodenal gastrointestinal stromal tumour, underwent a local surgical excision for an isolated, painful, vulvar lesion. The specimen was submitted for histological examination. A vulvar syringoma was diagnosed. Conclusion: We describe this case according on its rarity and atypical presentation as well; therefore, vulvar neoplasms encompass many differential diagnoses, among which the incidence rate of syringoma is very low. Although its rarity, syringoma should be included among the differential diagnosis for vulvar neoplasm.

Abstract
Syringoma is a benign eccrine sweat gland tumor that predominantly appears in females during puberty with multiple smooth papules measuring 1–2 mm in diameter. Common locations are on lower eyelids and cheeks. Vulvar syringoma is quite a rare, occurring condition with only a few cases reported. Here, we are reporting a case of 31-year-old female with vulvar syringoma associated with pruritus. The lesion was treated with carbon dioxide (CO2) laser ablation and 50% trichloroacetic acid (TCA) chemical peeling. Jaungo was used for wound care after laser abrasion. The combination treatment was effective for removing syringoma lesions. Post laser management with fusidic acid cream and jaungo cream was sufficient to prevent infection and promote wound healing.

Abstract
Abstract
Syringoma is a benign adnexal tumor derived from intraepidermal eccrine ducts. The usual presentation of syringoma is a small smooth skin-colored, yellowish or brownish papule with flattened or rounded top. Eruptive syringoma is a rarely reported form, where lesions are numerous and occur in successive crops. A case of a 57-year-old Caucasian male with a twenty four-year history of multiple asymptomatic, erythematous and brownish papules, predominantly over the anterior aspect of the trunk is presented. All lesions appeared after prolonged sun exposures within a few days and persisted without further changes afterwards. Contact non-polarized dermoscopy showed a fine light brown, regular pigment network on a light pink background, being the same in all lesions. History of the disease, clinical finding and dermoscopy were inconclusive, and biopsy was performed. Histopathology revealed signs of syringoma. Dermoscopic finding was thought to be intriguing and therefore is discussed in this paper.

Abstract
Laser treatment is a relatively new and increasingly popular modality for the treatment of many dermatologic conditions. A number of conditions that predominantly occur in women and that have a paucity of effective treatments include rosacea, connective tissue disease, melasma, nevus of Ota, lichen sclerosus (LS), notalgia paresthetica and macular amyloidosis, and syringomas. Laser therapy is an important option for the treatment of patients with these conditions. This article will review the body of literature that exists for the laser treatment of women with these medical conditions.

Abstract
Correct and rapid diagnosis of skin tumours often requires biopsy and histopathological examination to differentiate benign lesions such as seborrhoeic keratoses or melanocytic naevi from premalignant and malignant lesions such as malignant melanoma. Particularly, to the untrained eye, any benign skin tumour—pigmented or nonpigmented—is easily mistaken for a malignant lesion. Qualified clinical evaluation is paramount in order to reduce the frequency of unwarranted skin biopsies. Herein, the most common benign, premalignant, and malignant vulvar skin tumours are reviewed.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Syringomas are benign tumours of the sweat glands, the most familiar clinical presentation of which is the presence of multiple lesions on the eyelids. The aim of our study was to determine the clinical and histological characteristics of a large series of patients and to examine anatomoclinical correlations. PATIENTS AND METHODS This was a retrospective study conducted in all of the cases of syringoma analysed at the cutaneous histopathology laboratory in Strasbourg between 1970 and 2008. The clinical elements, patient history and diagnostic data were collated. All slides were re-read in order to determine the microscopic characteristics of the lesions. RESULTS Two hundred and forty-four lesions were included. The sex ratio was 0.27 and the mean age was 42 years (8 to 85 years). Multiple syringomas were noted in 76% of cases, of which 29.2% were eruptive, and one case occurred in a setting of metastatic melanoma. The sites of predilection were the face (56.7%, of which 36.3% on the eyelids), the chest (18.1%) and the neck (17.5%) for the multiple forms. The lesions were in the form of papules (67%), either brown (34.2%) or flesh-coloured (19.8%). Pruritus was reported in 14 cases, including 4 at vulvar sites (out of a total of 8). A diagnosis of syringoma was made by the clinician in only 30.2% of the multiple forms, with mastocytosis being proposed in 7.1% of cases. The clear-cell forms (18 cases) presented no special clinical features. CONCLUSION Syringomas are frequently multiple and are seen mainly in women. They are found predominantly on the face and trunk, and lesions are generally brown and pruritic, a little-known feature that accounts for the degree of diagnostic confusion with mastocytosis. The vulvar forms, which are often pruritic, are poorly known. The eruptive forms may include a hormonal component.

Abstract
Syringomas are benign adnexal tumors with distinct histopathologic features, including the characteristic comma ("tadpole") shaped tail comprised of dilated, cystic eccrine ducts. Clinically, syringomas typically present in adolescent females predominantly in the periorbital region. They may present as solitary or multiple lesions, and more rare sites of involvement include the genitals, palms, scalp, and the chest. Over the past 50 years, there have been >800 reported cases of syringoma either alone or in conjunction with a systemic syndrome, most commonly Down syndrome. The primary aim of this systematic review is to discuss the clinical features and associations of syringomas with a focus on the patient with multiple syringomas. Its secondary aims are to explore pathophysiology with a focus on multiple syringomas and provide comprehensive data on both traditional and novel treatments. Importantly, multiple syringomas present across a broad clinical spectrum. Though noted in many textbooks to be related to tumor syndromes, the association of syringomas with inherited tumor syndromes is only rarely reported in the literature. Despite multiple reported cases of syringoma, the pathophysiology remains poorly understood and treatment continues to pose a significant challenge.

Abstract
Background. Syringoma is a benign eccrine sweat gland tumor, characterized by multiple skin colored or slightly yellowish papules. Vulvar syringoma without extragenital involvement is an extremely rare variant of syringoma. Mail Observations. Herein, we report a 40-year-old diabetic female patient who presented with only lichenified plaques on the vulvar region without any extragenital lesions. Diagnosis of vulvar syringoma was made depending on the characteristic double lined cystic enlargements and comma-like tails found in histopathological examination. Immunohistochemical stains for estrogen and progesterone receptors were negative. Conclusion. Vulvar syringoma may present with no obvious papules on lichenified plaques.

Abstract
Context.—Because the skin and modified mucosal surfaces of the vulvar region contain dense apocrine glands and anogenital mammary-like glands, in addition to eccrine glands and folliculosebaceous units, benign as well as malignant lesions derived from these adnexal structures are, not surprisingly, found in the vulva. However, their incidence occurring in the vulva has not been reported, to our knowledge.
Objective.—To determine the incidence of various vulvar adnexal lesions.
Design.—We performed a retrospective review (1978–2010) of the cases at our institution.
Results.—A total of 189 vulvar adnexal lesions were identified. Most of these lesions were benign (133 of 189; 70%), with hidradenoma papilliferum being the most common, followed by syringoma and various types of cysts. Rare cases of tubular adenoma, poroma, spiradenoma, hidradenoma, cylindroma, sebaceoma, and trichoepithelioma were identified. Malignant adnexal neoplasms comprised the remaining 30% (56 of 189) of the cases. Extramammary Paget disease was the most common (49 of 56), and 29% (14 of 49) demonstrated an invasive component. Rare cases of basal cell carcinoma, sebaceous carcinoma, apocrine carcinoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma, and spiradenocarcinoma were identified.
Conclusions.—In this retrospective review, we identified several benign entities that have not been previously reported on the vulva, namely pilomatricoma, poroma, spiradenoma, and sebaceoma. Hidradenoma papilliferum and extramammary Paget disease were the most common benign and malignant adnexal neoplasms, respectively. The spectrum of various vulvar adnexal lesions appears to reflect the frequency of the underlying glandular elements.

Abstract
Gender differences in medicine have been recognized in anatomy, physiology, as well as in epidemiology and manifestations of various diseases. With respect to skin disorders, males are generally more commonly afflicted with infectious diseases while women are more susceptible to psychosomatic problems, pigmentary disorders, certain hair diseases, and particularly autoimmune as well as allergic diseases. Significantly, more female sex-associated dermatoses can be identified than the male sex-associated dermatoses. Dermatoses in the genital area differ between men and women. Gender differences also exist in the occurrence and prognosis of certain skin malignancies. The mechanisms underlying gender differences in skin diseases remain largely unknown. Differences in the skin structure and physiology, effect of sex hormones, ethnic background, sociocultural behaviour and environmental factors may interact to exert the influences. A better understanding of gender differences in human health and diseases will allow the development of novel concepts for prevention, diagnosis and therapy of skin diseases.

Abstract
Syringomas are benign, eccrine, sweat gland tumors that clinically appear as small skin-colored or yellow papules. Eruptive syringomas are rare variants that typically develop on the body's cutaneous anterior surface. Syringomas on the genital area have rarely been reported, although several authors maintain that syringoma should be considered in the differential diagnosis of pubic pruritic papular dermatitis. We present a case of a 31-year-old man with multiple, eruptive, asymptomatic papules involving the pubic area developed after waxing of the zone. Histological examination revealed disseminated syringomata. We postulate that the lesions were induced by depilation with a subsequently reactive inflammatory process resulting in a hyperplastic reaction of the eccrine ducts. This case supports the previous hypothesis suggesting that some of the so-called "eruptive syringomas" may start as a primary inflammatory eccrine reaction.

Abstract
The purpose of our study was to describe clinical and histopathological features of sixty one patients with histological diagnosis of syringoma over four year period in our dermatology clinic in Korea. Female:male ratio was 6.6:1 with onset of age during 2nd and 3rd decades in more than half of the patients in our study. The most frequently involved site was eyelids (43 cases, 70.5%) and the most common color of lesion was skin-color (30 cases, 49.2%). In 34 cases, characteristic tad-pole appearances (55.7%) were observed. Basal hyperpigmentation was observed more frequently in brown-colored lesion (p=0.005). Fibrosis was observed more frequently in erythematous lesion (p=0.033). Keratin cyst was observed less frequently in genital involved group (p=0.006). We also performed immunohistochemical stain for the presence of progesterone receptor (PR) and estrogen receptor (ER) in fifty six cases with negative results.

Abstract
Syringomas are benign tumors of the eccrine sweat gland that are most common to the periorbital location. Less common and under-recognized is their potential involvement of the vulvar skin, where they may cause significant pruritus. In this location, lesions often develop just prior to or during puberty, with symptoms of pruritus sometimes correlating with pregnancy or menstruation. A hormonal influence has thus been postulated. Reported treatments for symptomatic patients include topical corticosteroids, systemic and topical antihistamines, laser and excisional surgery, cryotherapy, and topical atropine, with variable results. We report a 9-year-old girl who had severe pruritus secondary to syringomas of the vaginal labia, and review the literature on this unusual disorder. Awareness of this condition is important in order that patients receive appropriate evaluation and management of their symptoms.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Milium-like syringoma is a variant of syringoma first described in 1987. Only few cases have been reported in the literature. It may be misleading clinically, and its histogenesis has not been clarified. CASE REPORT We present a case of periorbital milium-like syringoma, with studies on the histopathologic, histochemical, and immunohistochemical features. RESULTS Histology showed a large keratin-filled cyst in the upper portion of the lesion approximating the epidermis. Serial sections revealed that the cyst connected with the underlying syringomatous epithelial strands. Melanin was absent in the wall of the cyst, as demonstrated by Fontana-Masson stain. Cytokeratin 7 was expressed neither in the milia nor in the solid epithelial parts. Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) reactivity was seen in the luminal cells of the keratinous cysts. However, in the largest keratin-filled cyst clinically suggesting a milium, only the lower half of the cyst was positive for CEA. These results proved that the milia were part of syringoma with eccrine duct differentiation. Fusion of the upper half of the largest cyst with the epidermis may explain the absence of CEA positivity in this part, analogous with eccrine duct milia. Review of the literature indicated that this variant of syringoma occurs more often in Asians. CONCLUSION We present evidence, and propose the histogenesis of milium-like syringoma, that it is a variant of syringoma with a prominent cystic component showing features of eccrine duct milia. Recognition of its nature is of therapeutic significance. Further studies are required to verify its clinical characteristics as compared with ordinary syringomas.
