Abstract
BACKGROUND Metabolic syndrome (MetS) includes a group of metabolic irregularities, including insulin resistance (IR), atherogenic dyslipidemia, central obesity, and hypertension. Consistent evidence supports IR and ongoing low-grade inflammation as the main contributors to MetS pathogenesis. However, the association between the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and mortality in people with MetS remains uncertain. The objective of this study was to examine the correlation between the baseline TyG index and all-cause and cardiovascular (CV) mortality in rural Northeast Chinese individuals with MetS. METHODS For the Northeast China Rural Cardiovascular Health Study, 3918 participants (mean age, 55 ± 10; 62.4% women) with MetS at baseline were enrolled in 2012-2013 and followed up from 2015 to 2017. The TyG index was calculated using the equation TyG index = ln [fasting TG (mg/dL) × fasting glucose (mg/dL)/2] and subdivided into tertiles [Q1(< 8.92); Q2 (8.92-9.36); Q3 (≥ 9.36)]. Multivariate Cox proportional hazards models were developed to examine the correlations between mortality and the baseline TyG index. RESULTS During a median of 4.66 years of follow-up, 196 (5.0%) all-cause deaths and 108 (2.8%) CV disease-related deaths occurred. The incidence of all-cause mortality was significantly different among TyG index tertiles of the overall population (P = 0.045). Kaplan-Meier analysis demonstrated a significantly increased risk of all-cause mortality in rural Chinese patients with a higher TyG index (log-rank P < 0.05). After adjusting for possible confounders, Cox proportional hazard analysis revealed that the TyG index could effectively predict all-cause mortality (HR for the third vs. first tertile of TyG was 1.441 [95% confidence interval, 1.009-2.059]), but not CV mortality, in rural Chinese patients with MetS. CONCLUSIONS The TyG index is an effective predictor of all-cause mortality in rural Chinese patients with MetS. This indicates that the TyG index may be useful for identifying rural Chinese individuals with MetS at a high risk of death.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Despite abundant evidence on the epidemiological risk factors of metabolic diseases related to hyperuricemia, there is still insufficient evidence regarding the nonlinear relationship between triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and hyperuricemia. Thus, the purpose of this research is to clarify the nonlinear connection between TyG and hyperuricemia. METHODS From 2011 to 2018, a cross-sectional study was carried out using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). This study had 8572 participants in all. TyG was computed as Ln [triglycerides (mg/dL) × fasting glucose (mg/dL)/2]. The outcome variable was hyperuricemia. The association between TyG and hyperuricemia was examined using weighted multiple logistic regression, subgroup analysis, generalized additive models, smooth fitting curves, and two-piecewise linear regression models. RESULTS In the regression model adjusting for all confounding variables, the OR (95% CI) for the association between TyG and hyperuricemia was 2.34 (1.70, 3.21). There is a nonlinear and reverse U-shaped association between TyG and hyperuricemia, with a inflection point of 9.69. The OR (95% CI) before the inflection point was 2.64 (2.12, 3.28), and after the inflection point was 0.32 (0.11, 0.98). The interaction in gender, BMI, hypertension, and diabetes analysis was statistically significant. CONCLUSION Additional prospective studies are required to corroborate the current findings, which indicate a strong positive connection between TyG and hyperuricemia among adults in the United States.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hyperuricemia has placed an immense burden on the global healthcare system. Studies have discovered a close correlation between serum uric acid (SUA) and insulin resistance (IR). The objective of this investigation is to examine the association between the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, a simple surrogate for IR, and the presence of hyperuricemia. METHODS Between 2017 and 2021, an epidemiologic study was conducted on Royal Thai Army (RTA) personnel aged 35-60 years, involving a total of 231,286 participants. In the study, hyperuricemia was defined as a SUA level of 7 mg/dL and 6 mg/dL among male and female participants, respectively. Using linear regression analysis and logistic regression analysis, the association between the TyG index and SUA was determined. RESULTS A positive relationship was demonstrated between the TyG index and the SUA. Overall, SUA increased by 0.32 per unit of TyG index growth (95% CI: 0.31-0.32). In comparison with the first quartile, employees in the fourth TyG quartile had a greater likelihood of having hyperuricemia [adjusted odds ratio (AOR): 2.45, 95% CI: 2.38-2.52]. Effect modification by obesity on the association between the TyG index and SUA was observed (P-interaction < 0.001). Among individuals with obesity, compared with the first TyG index quartile, the AOR for hyperuricemia was 2.15 (95% CI: 2.06-2.25) and 2.14 (95% CI: 1.81-2.53) for the fourth quartile of the TyG index for males and females, respectively. However, for nonobese personnel, in comparison to the top quartile of the TyG index, the AOR for hyperuricemia was 2.73 (95% CI:2.61-2.84) and 5.03 (95% CI: 4.03-6.29) for the fourth quartile of the TyG index for males and females, respectively. Personnel in the fourth TyG index quartile revealed that the prevalence of hyperuricemia reached 44.2%. CONCLUSION A robust positive association between the TyG index and SUA was illustrated among active-duty RTA personnel. Obesity was identified as a modifier influencing this relationship. Furthermore, individuals in the fourth quarter of the TyG index, regardless of their obesity status, could be considered appropriate candidates for screening SUA levels.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the correlation of triglyceride-glucose index (TyG) index with metabolic syndrome (MetS) and metabolic risk factors, and to assess the predictive value of TyG for MetS in women with PCOS. METHODS This is a retrospective cross-sectional study that included 819 women diagnosed with PCOS and 3122 women without PCOS from January 2018 to December 2021. The definition of MetS adopted in this study was the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) criteria. The TyG index was calculated as the ln (fasting triglyceride level [mg/dL] × fasting glucose level [mg/dL]/2). RESULTS MetS was diagnosed in 266 women (32.5%) among 819 subjects with PCOS, and in 287 women (9.2%) among 3122 subjects without PCOS. Logistic regression analysis showed that women in the highest tertile of TyG index had the highest prevalence of MetS (OR = 3.66, 95%CI: 1.28-10.49) after adjusting for confounding factors. Compared with the lowest tertile, PCOS women in the highest tertile showed the highest odds ratio of hypertension, obesity, central obesity, hyperglycemia and dyslipidemia. Furthermore, TyG index was able to identify MetS in women with PCOS, and the optimal cutoff values were 8.65 (Youden index = 0.65). CONCLUSION TyG index was positively and independently correlated with the prevalence of MetS, which also indicated a good predictive ability in women with PCOS.

Abstract
Background Although emerging evidence emphasizes the associations between both insulin resistance and hyperuricemia with coronary artery disease (CAD) risk, no definite relationship has yet been established. In this respect, time-efficient and affordable methods to estimate insulin resistance (IR) status, and to predict risk of hyperuricemia, are needed. Thus, the goal of this investigation was to examine the associations between IR, as assessed by novel surrogate markers [triglyceride-glucose (TyG) and TyG-body mass index (TyG-BMI)], and risk of hyperuricemia in patients with and without diagnosed CAD. Methods This cross-sectional study used data from the medical records of 1,170 patients who were referred to the cardiology outpatient clinic. Medical records, anthropometrics, and serum analytes were determined at the initial visit. Hyperuricemia was defined as serum uric acid ≥ 5.6 mg/dL. IR was estimated through surrogate markers (TyG and TyG-BMI). Multiple regression analysis was performed to assess the relationship between these indices and odds of hyperuricemia among patients with and without CAD. Results Overall, 814 angiographically-confirmed CAD cases (mean age (SD) = 52 (8)yrs) were compared with 356 patients without CAD (mean age (SD) = 48 (8)yr). There were positive associations between TyG and TyG-BMI indices and odds of hyperuricemia in CAD patients after controlling for confounders (adjusted odds ratio (aOR) = 1.60; 95%CI: 1.02-2.51; p-value = 0.036; and aOR = 1.83; 95%CI: 1.24-2.70; p-value = 0.002, third tertiles for TYG and TYG-BMI, respectively). Conclusion The present findings suggest that higher levels of the IR surrogate markers, TyG and TyG-BMI, are associated with higher odds of hyperuricemia in patients with CAD. However, given the cross-sectional design of this study, the sensitivity and specificity of these novel markers could not be determined for confirming the diagnosis of IR and hyperuricemia, further studies are needed to determine such outcomes and to confirm the current findings.

Abstract
The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, triglyceride-to-high-density-lipoprotein-cholesterol (TG/HDL-C) ratio, metabolic score for insulin resistance (METS-IR) and TyG with body mass index (TyG-BMI) have been proposed as indicators of insulin resistance (IR). This study aimed to explore the association between these IR surrogates and their longitudinal variation with the development of hyperuricemia in a middle-aged and older Chinese population. Data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) was used to identify 5269 participants aged ≥45 years. Logistic regression was used to assess the effect of IR surrogates and their variations on the risk of hyperuricemia. After four years of follow-up, 517 (9.81%) participants developed incident hyperuricemia. Increased baseline values of TyG, TG/HDL, METS-IR, and TyG-BMI were all significantly associated with higher risks of hyperuricemia. Compared to individuals with maintained low levels of IR surrogates, those with low-to-high and maintained high variation patterns had a significantly higher risk of hyperuricemia. These four IR surrogates have comparable predictive ability for hyperuricemia. This study provides evidence of the associations between IR and hyperuricemia. Early intervention among middle-aged and elderly Chinese individuals with high IR levels may effectively reduce the burden of hyperuricemia.

Abstract
Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the association between the triglyceride glucose (TyG) index and hyperuricemia (HUA) in patients with grades 1-3 hypertension. Study Design. This is a cross-sectional study. A total of 1,707 patients from the cardiovascular department of Affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were studied. In this study, 899 patients with grades 1-2 hypertension were included, of which 151 had HUA; additionally, 808 patients with grade 3 hypertension were included, of which 162 patients had HUA. This study obtained all patient data from the electronic medical record system of the Affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The TyG index was calculated as Ln (triglycerides × fasting glucose/2). Hyperuricemia was defined as uric acid ≥420 μmol/L (7 mg/dL). Multivariate logistic regression, penalized spline regression, and generalized additive models were used to evaluate the association between the TyG index and HUA. Stratified analyses were performed to assess the association in populations with different grades of hypertension. Results The average TyG index was 8.71 ± 0.58. After adjusting for correlated variables, the logistic regression analysis revealed a positive correlation between the TyG index and HUA (OR = 1.83; 95% CI: 1.40-2.39). Smooth curve fitting showed that this correlation was linear in the whole range of the TyG index. In the subgroup analysis, the TyG index more strongly associated with HUA in the grades 1-2 hypertension group (OR = 2.22; 95% CI: 1.44-3.42) compared to that in the grade 3 hypertension group (OR = 1.58; 95% CI: 1.11-2.24; P for interaction = 0.03). In addition, this association was consistent in all models. Conclusion The TyG index was positively associated with HUA in patients with hypertension, and the association was more strongly confirmed in those with grades 1-2 hypertension rather than in those with grade 3 hypertension.

Abstract
Background Few studies have examined the relationship between fatty liver index (FLI) and hyperuricemia (HUA). This study explores the relationship between FLI and HUA in hypertensive patients. Methods A total of 13,716 hypertensive subjects were included in the current study. FLI, a simple index calculated from triglycerides (TG), waist circumference (WC), body mass index (BMI), and γ -glutamyltransferase (GGT), was used as a useful predictor of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) distribution. HUA was defined as serum uric acid ≥ 360 μmol/L for females and ≥ 420 μmol/L for males. Results The mean value of total FLI was 31.8 ± 25.1. Multiple logistic analyses revealed a significant positive correlation between FLI and HUA (OR, 1.78; 95% CI: 1.69-1.87). A subgroup analysis demonstrated that the correlation between FLI (< 30 vs. ≥ 30) and HUA was significant in both sexes (P for interaction = 0.006). Further analyses stratified by sex indicated a positive correlation between FLI and HUA prevalence among male and female subjects. However, the correlation between FLI and HUA was stronger in female subjects than in males (male: OR, 1.70; 95% CI: 1.58-1.83; female: 1.85; 95% CI: 1.73-1.98). Conclusion This study demonstrates a positive correlation between FLI and HUA in hypertensive adults, but stronger in females than males.

Triglyceride-glucose index is significantly associated with the risk of hyperuricemia in patients with diabetic kidney disease. Sci Rep 2022; 12:19988. Abstract
Triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index has been proposed to be a simple, economical, and reliable marker of insulin resistance. We aimed to investigate whether TyG is an independent predictor of hyperuricemia in diabetic kidney disease (DKD) populations by conducting a cross-sectional and longitudinal study. A total of 6,471 patients were enrolled in cross-sectional analysis, and 3,634 patients without hyperuricemia at the baseline were included in longitudinal analysis and were followed up for a median of 23.0 months. Hyperuricemia was categorized as a serum uric acid level ≥ 420 umol/L (7 mg/dL). In this study, 19.58% of participants had hyperuricemia. In the cross-sectional analysis, multivariate logistics regression analysis showed that the ORs (95% CI) for hyperuricemia in the second, third, and fourth TyG quartiles were 1.40 (95% CI 0.73-2.65), 1.69 (95% CI 0.90-3.18), and 4.53 (95% CI 2.39-8.57), respectively, compared with the first quartile. Longitudinally, the Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that higher TyG levels predicted higher incidence of hyperuricemia. Multivariate Cox regression model revealed that the hazard ratios for hyperuricemia in the upper quartiles of the TyG index were 1.69 (95% CI 0.97-2.93), 2.23 (95% CI 1.33-3.75), and 2.50 (95% CI 1.46-4.27), respectively, compared with the first quartile. Moreover, the subgroup analyses revealed that the relationship between TyG levels and hyperuricemia was robust in DKD patients. Our findings indicate a significant independent correlation between the TyG index and the risk of hyperuricemia in DKD patients.

Abstract
Objective This study aims to identify dietary branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) consumption trajectories in Chinese adults and to evaluate their association with the risk of hyperuricemia (HU). Methods Cohort data from the China Health and Nutrition Survey 1997–2009 were adopted in this research. A total of 6,810 participants aged ≥18 years were included in this study. Participants were designated into four subgroups on basis of the trajectories of dietary BCAA consumption. Cox proportional hazards models were performed to discuss the relationships between varied trajectories and the risk of HU after adjusting potential confounders. The intermediary effect of differential blood indexes between the trajectories and the risk of HU was explored with mediation analysis. Results Four distinct trajectory groups of dietary BCAA consumption were identified. Compared with the low stable trajectory group, high to low trajectory group was greatly related to an increased risk of HU (HR 1.35 (95% CI 1.03 to 1.79)) with modification for covariates. Total cholesterol (TC), hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), fasting blood glucose (FBG), and triglyceride (TG) partially regulated trajectories and HU. Conclusion Gradually decreasing dietary BCAA intake increased the risk of HU, which is, at least, partially mediated by TC, HbA1c, FBG, and TG levels.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There are few studies on predictive biomarkers for hyperuricemia, and the predictive value of these biomarkers tends to be poor. Additionally, no reports have described the predictive value of retinol binding protein 4 (RBP4) for hyperuricemia. PURPOSE This study was performed to evaluate the value of RBP4 for predicting the risk of hyperuricemia in a general population, determine whether RBP4 could be used alone or in combination with other factors to predict the risk of hyperuricemia in the general population, and establish an optimum predictive model. METHODS We conducted a population-based cross-sectional survey in 2018, involving a questionnaire, physical examination, and laboratory testing. We enrolled 2303 individuals by stratified random sampling, and 2075 were included in the data analysis after applying the eligibility criteria. RESULTS Serum RBP4 level had a highly significant association with hyperuricemia (P<0.001). After adjusting for potential confounders, logistic regression indicated that the risk of hyperuricemia was highest in the highest RBP4 quartile (odds ratio: 7.9, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 4.18-14.84, compared to the lowest quartile). The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC) for RBP4 was 0.749 (95% CI: 0.725-0.774, P<0.001), which was higher than that for all the other predictors assessed. The optimum model for predicting hyperuricemia in the general population consisted of RBP4, sex (male), body mass index, serum creatinine, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, fasting blood glucose, insulin, and alcohol consumption. The AUC was 0.804 (95% CI: 0.782-0.826, P<0.001). CONCLUSIONS RBP4 is strongly associated with hyperuricemia, and its predictive value was higher than that of traditional predictors.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Previous studies have revealed the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is closely related to hyperuricemia in the general population. However, this relationship in hypertensive patients has not been reported. The aims of this study are to investigate the relationship of the TyG index and hyperuricemia in adult Chinese hypertension. METHODS The China H-type Hypertension Registration (an observational, noninterventional, and real-world study) was conducted from March 01, 2018, to August 31, 2018, in 16 communities in Wuyuan of China. The TyG index was calculated from fasting triglycerides (mg/dL) and fasting glucose (mg/dL)/2. Hyperuricemia was categorized by uric acid concentration ≥420 μmol/L (7 mg/dL). RESULTS Overall average TyG index of 13,060 adults with hypertension was 8.87; age was 63.81 years. The TyG index was positively correlated with serum uric acid by multiple linear regression analyses (β = 38.03; 95% CI: 34.55 to 41.51). Coincidentally, logistic analyses also demonstrated the TyG index had a positive correlation with hyperuricemia (OR = 2.04; 95% CI: 1.87 to 2.24). Strong linear associations of the TyG index with serum uric acid and hyperuricemia were confirmed by restricted cubic spline analysis. Compared with subjects in the lowest quartile (7.13 to 8.44) of the TyG index, subjects in the 2nd-4th quartiles had 1.25 (95% CI: 1.10 to 1.41), 1.63 (95% CI: 1.43 to 1.86), and 2.79 (95% CI: 2.41 to 3.24) times greater incident risk of developing hyperuricemia. The TyG index had significant correlations between male patients and hyperuricemia (OR = 2.01) by subgroup analysis. CONCLUSION Positive associations were found between the TyG index and serum uric acid and between the TyG index and hyperuricemia in adults with hypertension. Abstract
PURPOSE The triglyceride-glucose index (TyG) is positively correlated with serum uric acid (SUA) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, whether this relationship exists in non-obese T2DM patients remains unknown. The study investigated the relationship between TyG and SUA in Chinese non-obese T2DM patients and examined the prognostic value of TyG in hyperuricemia (HUA). PATIENTS AND METHODS In total, 719 T2DM patients who were not obese were enrolled from among those who visited the Hebei General Hospital. The patients were categorized into groups according to their SUA levels. The relationship between TyG and clinical parameters was examined through correlation analysis. To consider covariates and examine the independent impact of TyG on HUA, logistic regression was performed. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was performed to evaluate the diagnostic value of TyG and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) for HUA. RESULTS The HUA prevalence was 12.10%. TyG was statistically different among the four SUA groups, with lower TyG levels in the Q1, Q2, and Q3 groups than that in the Q4 group. TyG was positively correlated with SUA (r = 0.176, P < 0.001). Logistic regression exhibited that TyG and SUA were independently correlated (OR = 2.427, 95% CI = 1.134-5.195, P = 0.022) even after adjustment for confounding factors. The ROC curve showed that the predictive value of TyG for HUA was higher than that of HOMA-IR (AUROC = 0.613, P = 0.001). CONCLUSION TyG was positively correlated with SUA in non-obese T2DM patients. TyG may better predict HUA in non-obese T2DM patients than HOMA-IR.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hyperuricemia (HUA) is a metabolic anomaly with an increased incidence rate, causing a global medical burden. Several studies have confirmed that obesity and insulin resistance (IR) are the risk factors for HUA. Reports on the predictive power of different obesity indices for HUA are limited. This study aimed to compare the association between different general, abdominal, and visceral obesity indices and markers of the IR-triglyceride glucose (TyG) index with serum uric acid (SUA) and to assess the ability of these indices to predict HUA. METHODS A total of 2243 participants were recruited from Barkol County Hospital and surrounding township hospitals in Xinjiang. Obesity indices, including the atherogenic index of plasma, cardiometabolic index, visceral adiposity index, lipid accumulation product index, a body shape index, body roundness index, waist circumference, waist-to-height ratio, body mass index, and TyG index, were divided into four quartiles. Moreover, partial correlations and logistic regression were used to analyze the association between these indices and SUA. The area under the curve (AUC) and receiver operating characteristic curves were used to analyze the predictive value of these indices for HUA. RESULTS After controlling for confounding variables, the association between the TyG index and HUA was stronger than that between the obesity indices in both males and females. The odds ratios (ORs) for HUA in the highest quartile of the TyG index were 2.098 (95% confidence interval, 1.555-2.831) in males and 7.788 (95% CI, 3.581-16.937) in females. For males, the AIP, CMI, VAI, LAP index, and TyG index were able to discriminate HUA, and the TyG index showed the highest AUC value of 0.586 (95% CI, 0.557-0.614; P < 0.001). For females, all indices, except BMI, can discriminate HUA. Moreover, the visceral obesity index CMI showed the highest AUC value of 0.737 (95% CI, 0.691-0.782; P < 0.001). Meanwhile, the TyG index had a relatively high AUC value of 0.728 (95% CI, 0.682-0.773; P < 0.001). CONCLUSION The TyG index was significantly related to HUA and was superior to obesity indices in identifying HUA in the medical checkup population in Xinjiang, China.

Abstract
The triglyceride glucose (TyG) index was regarded as a simple surrogate marker of insulin resistance (IR). It is confirmed that IR was significantly associated with hyperuricemia, and obesity was the risk factor for IR and hyperuricemia. However, the relationship between the TyG index and hyperuricemia and the potential role of obesity in Han Chinese hypertension are not entirely elucidated. A community‐based cross‐sectional study was conducted in 4551 hypertension patients aged 40–75 years with clinical and biochemical data. The TyG index was calculated as ln [fasting triglyceride (mg/dl) × fasting plasma glucose (mg/dl)/2]. Hyperuricemia was determined as serum uric acid ≥357μmol/L (6 mg/dl) for females and ≥417μmol/L (7 mg/dl) for males. Our study suggested that the TyG index was higher in patients with hyperuricemia than in those without (8.99±0.61, 8.70±0.59, p < .001). The prevalence of hyperuricemia in patients with the lowest (≤8.32), second (8.33–8.66), third (8.67–9.07) and the highest quartile (≥9.08) of the TyG index was 6.0%, 10.4%, 15.4%, 21.4%, respectively. Logistic regression analysis suggested that the higher quartile of TyG index was associated with increased hyperuricemia risk whether in crude or adjusted models (p < .05). Mediation analysis showed that all of our obesity indexes partially mediated the association between the TyG index and hyperuricemia to some extent. In Conclusions, the TyG index is significantly associated with hyperuricemia in hypertension patients among Han Chinese, obesity plays a partial mediation role in this relationship.

Abstract
Background: The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index could serve as a convenient substitute of insulin resistance (IR), but epidemiological evidence on its relationship with the long-term risk of mortality is limited. Methods: Participants from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey during 1999–2014 were grouped according to TyG index (<8, 8–9, 9–10, >10). Cox regression was conducted to compute the hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence interval (CI). Restricted cubic spline and piecewise linear regression were performed to detect the shape of the relationship between TyG index and mortality. Results: A total of 19,420 participants (48.9% men) were included. On average, participants were followed-up for 98.2 months, and 2,238 (11.5%) and 445 (2.3%) cases of mortality due to all-cause or cardiovascular disease were observed. After adjusting for confounders, TyG index was independently associated with an elevated risk of all-cause (HR, 1.10; 95% CI, 1.00–1.20) and cardiovascular death (HR, 1.29; 95% CI, 1.05–1.57). Spline analyses showed that the relationship of TyG index with mortality was non-linear (All non-linear P < 0.001), and the threshold value were 9.36 for all-cause and 9.52 for cardiovascular death, respectively. The HRs above the threshold point were 1.50 (95% CI, 1.29–1.75) and 2.35 (95% CI, 1.73–3.19) for all-cause and cardiovascular death. No significant difference was found below the threshold points (All P > 0.05). Conclusion: Elevated TyG index reflected a more severe IR and was associated with mortality due to all-cause and cardiovascular disease in a non-linear manner.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Identification and intervention of insulin resistance may be beneficial to the prevention of hyperuricemia (HUA) and its related diseases. Thus, we conducted this longitudinal study to examine the relation of triglyceride-glucose index (TyG), a simple noninsulin-based IR assessment tool, and its derivatives with the risk of HUA. METHODS A total of 42,387 adults who received routine health screening and were free of HUA were included for the longitudinal analyses. TyG, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), and waist-to-height ratio (WtHR) were calculated through anthropometric and biochemical indicators. Associations of TyG, TyG-BMI, TyG-WC, and TyG-WHtR with HUA risk were estimated using Cox regression analyses. RESULTS The incident cases of HUA occurred in 4,230 subjects during the 138,163 person-years of observation, and the crude incidence rate of HUA was 30.6 per 1000 person-years. After multivariate adjustment, we observed an increased risk for incident HUA for the upper TyG and its derivatives' tercile. The HRs of TyG were greater than that of its components in both sexes. Compared with TyG, TyG-related parameters only had higher HRs in women but not in men. CONCLUSIONS TyG and its integration with obesity indicators have the potential to help risk stratification and prevention of HUA, especially among women.
