Abstract
Introduction Professional Identity Formation (PIF) entails the integration of a profession's core values and beliefs with an individual's existing identity and values. Within undergraduate medical education (UGME), the cultivation of PIF is a key objective. The COVID-19 pandemic brought about substantial sociocultural challenges to UGME. Existing explorations into the repercussions of COVID-19 on PIF in UGME have predominantly adopted an individualistic approach. We sought to examine how the COVID-19 pandemic influenced PIF in UGME from a sociocultural perspective. This study aims to provide valuable insights for effectively nurturing PIF in future disruptive scenarios. Methods Semi structured interviews were conducted with medical students from the graduating class of 2022 (n = 7) and class of 2023 (n = 13) on their medical education experiences during the pandemic and its impact on their PIF. We used the Transformation in Medical Education (TIME) framework to develop the interview guide. Direct content analysis was used for data analysis. Results The COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted the UGME experience, causing disruptions such as an abrupt shift to online learning, increased social isolation, and limited in-person opportunities. Medical students felt disconnected from peers, educators, and the clinical setting. In the clerkship stage, students recognized knowledge gaps, producing a "late blooming" effect. There was increased awareness for self-care and burnout prevention. Discussion Our study suggests that pandemic disruptors delayed PIF owing largely to slower acquisition of skills/knowledge and impaired socialization with the medical community. This highlights the crucial role of sociocultural experiences in developing PIF in UGME. PIF is a dynamic and adaptable process that was preserved during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract
Objective During the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, medical students were abruptly removed from clinical rotations and transitioned to virtual learning. This study investigates the impact of this shift on students' wellbeing and preparedness for advanced training. Methods Through qualitative research methods, including semi-structured interviews, the experiences of medical students working on the COVID-19 frontline were explored. Results The comprehensive findings of the study shed light on the profound emotional journey that medical students embarked upon during the relentless public health crisis. Within the chaos and overwhelming demands of the pandemic, medical students discovered a profound sense of purpose and fulfillment in their contributions to the welfare of the community. Despite the personal sacrifices they had to make, such as long hours, limited social interactions, and potentially risking their own health, students reported feelings of relief and gratitude. Conclusion Tailored support systems for medical students' wellbeing are crucial for improving healthcare delivery during crises. Medical schools should adopt a holistic curriculum approach, integrating interdisciplinary learning and prioritizing student wellbeing. Recognizing the pandemic's impact on students and implementing targeted support measures ensures resilience and contributes to an improved healthcare system.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Previous studies have explored the stress and turnover intention of healthcare workers, but as important backup talents in the healthcare system, resident physicians have received little attention from researchers, especially after experiencing COVID-19. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the chronic stress and turnover intention of resident physicians after experiencing COVID-19. METHODS From June to August 2022, we conducted a questionnaire survey on resident physicians in the Children's Hospital of Hebei Province through the online platform (Wenjuanxing) to evaluate their chronic stress and turnover intention after experiencing COVID-19. For the collected data, we used frequency and percentage to make the statistical description, the Chi-square test to make a univariate analysis on the scores of chronic stress and turnover intention scale, and binary logistic regression analysis to explore the influencing factors of turnover intention. RESULTS Out of 143 respondents, we finally received 127 questionnaires, with a response rate of 88.81%. Among 127 respondents, 80.31% of resident physicians experienced varying degrees of chronic stress (mild: 36.22%, moderate: 35.43%, severe: 8.66%), and 74.80% of resident physicians showed varying degrees of turnover intention (mild: 23.62%, moderate: 37.79%, severe: 13.39%). Moreover, age (OR = 0.772, P = 0.042), identity (OR = 8.648, P = 0.021), and chronic stress levels (mild: OR = 6.938, P = 0.003; moderate: OR = 44.049, P < 0.003; severe: OR = 46.141, P = 0.004) can significantly affect turnover intention. CONCLUSION In this study, we reported a relatively high proportion of resident physicians with high chronic stress and high turnover intention after experiencing COVID-19. We suggest that the relevant departments should pay more attention to the resident physicians' group and formulate corresponding measures to solve the problems faced by the resident physicians and ensure the stability of the health human resources.

Abstract
Objective The impact of COVID-19 continues to this day, there are many disputes about how medical students should be managed and diverse arrangements were adopted by medical schools around all over the world. The purpose of this study was to discuss the risks and benefits of medical student participation in healthcare in the context of COVID-19. Methods An online cross-sectional survey was distributed to 300 Medical students undergoing standardized training program (STP) in China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University. The survey included questions about basic demographic characteristics, roles and mental state of interns during the pandemic, comments on the University's management of medical students. Data were processed using SPSS 25.0 statistical analysis software, the comparison between two groups of data was performed using t-test; the non-normally distributed variables were analyzed using Mann-Whitney U-test, differences between groups were compared using chi-square test for analysis. p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results A total of 191 students completed the survey (response rate 63.67%). The epidemic had a significant psychological impact on students, but most of them believed that participation in clinical work under voluntary, precise protective measures and strict supervision were benefit for their future. Older, married, female, and salaried students are more willing to engage in pandemic-related activities. The biggest challenge of working under the pandemic focused on high working pressure and insufficient protection, the biggest harvest was getting knowledge and accumulating experience. Conclusion Circumstances, cultures, outbreaks and strategies for coping with COVID-19 varied around the world. Medical students do not need to be overprotected, participation in pandemic work in an optimized system is acceptable and beneficial to their career plan. Medical education should focus on improving the social status of infectious diseases and cultivating future doctors with awareness of epidemic prevention and control.

Abstract
Objectives During COVID-19 the re-opening of educational institutes was frequently debated, however with the decline in the number of COVID-19 cases, The Aga Khan University (AKU) in Karachi, Pakistan opened its campus for medical and nursing students after more than 6 months of closure. To ensure gradual resumption of activities on-campus, a combination of interventions was diligently deployed to minimize student infection rates. Scarce literature exists on students' perceptions regarding decisions implemented by university leadership. The aim of the study was to determine the efficacy of these interventions. Methods We conducted a convergent, parallel, mixed-methods observational study targeting medical and nursing students. An online questionnaire was disseminated to elicit students' degree of (dis)agreement on a four-point Likert scale. Focused group discussions (FGDs) were conducted to comprehend reasons for (dis)agreement. Results Total of 183 students responded to questionnaire (59.0% nursing, 67.8% female), 11 FGDs were conducted with 85 students. Interventions with highest agreement were mandatory face masks policy (94.54%), weekly mandated COVID-testing (92.35%) and students' Academic Bubble (91.26%); highest disagreement was for Sehat Check application (41.53%); and stay strong campaign (40.44%). Four themes emerged from FGDs: Effective safety interventions, Safety interventions with limited effectiveness, Utility of Sehat Check Application and Future recommendations for informing policy. Conclusion It is paramount to seek student-feedback at forefront of university re-opening strategy. Clear communication channels are as important as an administrative response system's robustness. Bidirectional communication channels are fundamental and requisite during ever-changing policies and regulations. Engaging student representatives in decision making or implementation processes (such as "pilot" before "roll-out") would allow any potential issues to be managed early on. Gather real-time anonymous feedback and identify key areas that need further promulgation and those that need to be replaced with more effective ones.
