Abstract
CONTEXT In the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York City, individuals who tested positive, exposed contacts, and their families faced significant challenges in accessing essential resources for successful quarantine and isolation. These resources included alternative housing, food access, grocery delivery, missed wage assistance, transportation for household members, medical care, and more. PROGRAM The City University of New York (CUNY) Recovery Corps emerged as an innovative virtual resource navigation service to connect New Yorkers to essential resources and later to vaccinations, treatment, and services for Long COVID. The program prioritized reaching people living in underserved and under-resourced neighborhoods. Over 3 years, it made a substantial impact, reaching 374 728 New Yorkers and connecting 135 147 to crucial resources. IMPLEMENTATION Implementing a successful virtual navigation center amidst a global pandemic posed unique challenges. It required well-established systems to provide services, manage staff, build community, and both assure and improve service quality. EVALUATION Continuous quality assurance and process improvement efforts resulted in a nearly 10-point increase in successful client-resource connections program-wide, with individual navigators showing improvements of up to 20%. Staff-led initiatives, such as population-specific resource guides and incentive awards, boosted morale and cohesion. Providing continuous professional development opportunities and requested training including trauma-informed care, self-care, and strategies for managing grief contributed to staff retention and improved client interactions. DISCUSSION The CUNY Recovery Corps provides a blueprint for setting up navigation services for emergency response and supporting health and social services. The current paper delves into the intensive quality improvement efforts, program management infrastructure, and staff support that made this program a success. By applying these lessons on establishing and maintaining a virtual call center prioritizing the client's well-being and staff strengths, policymakers and social service leaders can effectively address various health and social service needs proactively rather than rebuilding after each disaster.

Abstract
BACKGROUND People are exposed to a variety of chemicals each day as a result of their personal care product (PCP) use. OBJECTIVE This study was designed to determine if silicone wristbands provide a quantitative estimate of internal dose for phenols commonly associated with PCPs, with a focus on triclosan and four parabens: methyl-, ethyl-, propyl-, and butylparaben. Uptake of these compounds into wristbands and correlations with internal dose were assessed. METHODS Ten adults from central North Carolina wore five silicone wristbands, with one wristband removed each day for 5 days. Each participant provided a 24 h urine sample and a random spot urine sample each day, in which paraben and triclosan metabolites were evaluated. RESULTS All parabens and triclosan were detected frequently in wristbands and, except for butylparaben, in urine samples. Wristband and spot urine concentrations of parabens and triclosan were both compared to a measurement of internal dose (i.e., the total metabolite mass excreted over 5 days as a measurement of internal dose). IMPACT STATEMENT The two most hydrophobic compounds investigated, butylparaben and triclosan, displayed significant linear uptake in wristbands over 5 days, whereas concentrations of methyl- and ethylparaben displayed a steady state concentration. In general, wristbands and spot urine samples were similarly correlated to internal dose for frequently detected parabens and triclosan. However, wristbands have additional advantages including higher detection rates and reduced participant burden that may make them more suitable tools for assessing exposure to PCPs.

Abstract
Importance Nursing home (NH) transfers to hospitals are common and have been associated with cognitive decline; approximately 45% of NH hospital transfers are potentially avoidable hospitalizations (PAHs). Objective To determine PAH incidence for historically marginalized NH residents with severe cognitive impairment compared with non-Hispanic White residents. Design, Setting, and Participants This cross-sectional study merged 2018 Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services datasets and LTCFocus, a public dataset on US NH care, for US NH residents aged 65 years and older who had a hospitalization. Analyses were performed from January to May 2022. Exposure Race and ethnicity of NH residents. Main Outcomes and Measures Racial and ethnic differences in resident-level annual rates of PAHs were estimated for residents with and without severe cognitive impairment (measured using the Cognitive Function Scale), controlling for resident characteristics, comorbidities, dual eligibility, and time at risk. PAHs were defined as NH hospital transfers that resulted from neglectful NH care or for which NH treatment would have been appropriate. Results Of 2 098 385 NH residents nationwide included in the study, 7151 (0.3%) were American Indian or Alaska Native, 39 873 (1.9%) were Asian, 229 112 (10.9%) were Black or African American, 99 304 (4.7%) were Hispanic, 2785 (0.1%) were Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, 1 713 670 (81.7%) were White, and 6490 (0.3%) were multiracial; 1 355 143 (64.6%) were female; 128 997 (6.2%) were severely cognitively impaired; and the mean (SD) age was 81.8 (8.7) years. PAH incidence rate ratios (IRRs) were significantly greater for residents with severe cognitive impairment compared with those without. In unadjusted analyses comparing historically marginalized residents with severe cognitive impairment vs non-Hispanic White residents with severe cognitive impairment, American Indian or Alaska Native residents had a 49% higher PAH incidence (IRR, 1.49 [95% CI, 1.10-2.01]), Black or African American residents had a 64% higher incidence (IRR, 1.64 [95% CI, 1.48-1.81]), and Hispanic residents had a 45% higher incidence (IRR, 1.45 [95% CI, 1.29-1.62]). Higher incidences persisted for historically marginalized residents with severe cognitive impairment vs non-Hispanic White residents with severe cognitive impairment in adjusted analyses. Asian residents had a 24% higher PAH incidence (IRR, 1.24 [95% CI, 1.06-1.45]), Black or African American residents had a 48% higher incidence (IRR, 1.48 [95% CI, 1.36-1.60]), and Hispanic residents had a 27% higher incidence (IRR, 1.27 [95% CI, 1.16-1.39]). Conclusions and Relevance In this cross-sectional study of PAHs, compared with non-Hispanic White NH residents, historically marginalized residents had increased PAH incidence. In the presence of severe cognitive impairment, incidence rates increased significantly compared with rates for residents without severe cognitive impairment. These results suggest that identification of residents with severe cognitive impairment and proper NH care may help prevent further cognitive decline by avoiding PAHs.

Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately affected immigrant and racialized communities globally and revealed another public health crisis - structural racism. While structural racism is known to foster discrimination via mutually reinforcing systems, the unevenness of COVID-19 infections, hospitalizations, and deaths across societies has precipitated attention to the impacts of structural racism. Research highlights the inequitable burden of COVID-19 among immigrant and racialized groups; however, little is known about the synergistic impacts of structural racism and COVID-19 on the health and wellbeing of these groups. Fewer studies examine how structural racism and COVID-19 intersect within neighbourhoods to co-produce landscapes of disease exposure and management. This article examines the pathways through which structural racism shapes access, use, and control of environmental resources among immigrant and racialized individuals in the neighbourhoods of the Peel Region and how they converged to shape health and disease dynamics during the height of Canada's COVID-19 pandemic. Findings from in-depth interviews reveal that mutually reinforcing inequitable systems created environments for COVID-19 to reinscribe disparities in access, use, and control of key resources needed to manage health and disease, and created new forms of disparities and landscapes of inequality for immigrants and racialized individuals. We close with a discussion on the impacts for policy and practice.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Accurately translated health materials are needed to achieve equity in vaccine uptake among U.S. individuals with non-English language preferences. Verbatim translations may not capture the cultural and linguistic vernacular required to understand vaccine hesitancy. We leveraged a community-engaged approach to translate the Vaccine Hesitancy Scale (VHS) into Haitian Creole. METHODS Following the "WHO Guidelines on Translation and Adaptation of Instruments" and a community-engaged framework, a validated 10-question Vaccine Hesitancy Scale (VHS) underwent forward translation, expert panel review, back translation, and focus group pilot testing. RESULTS Haitian Creole-speaking translators included two community leaders, one community partner, one study team member, and 13 Haitian, greater Boston-based community members who participated in a focus group to pretest the survey. After four iterations, a linguistic and cultural translation of the VHS was created. CONCLUSION A community-engaged framework strengthened community partnerships and resulted in a culturally relevant Haitian Creole vaccine hesitancy scale.

Abstract
White supremacy and racial inequities have long pervaded psychological research, including body image scholarship and practice. The experiences of white, heterosexual, able-bodied, cisgender (predominantly college) women from wealthy, Westernized nations have been centered throughout body image research and practice, thereby perpetuating myths of invulnerability among racialized groups and casting white ideals and experiences as the standard by which marginalized bodies are compared. Body image is shaped by multiple axes of oppression that exist within systemic and structural systems, ultimately privileging certain bodies above others. In this position paper, we highlight how white supremacy has shaped body image research and practice. In doing so, we first review the history of body image research and explain how participant sampling, measurement, interpretive frameworks, and dissemination of research have upheld and reinforced white supremacy. Next, grounded in inclusivity and intersectionality, we advance the Sociostructural-Intersectional Body Image (SIBI) framework to more fully understand the body image experiences of those with racialized and minoritized bodies, while challenging and seeking to upend white supremacy in body image research and practice. We encourage other scholars to utilize the SIBI framework to better understand body inequities and the body image experiences of all people, in all bodies.

Abstract
Introduction The COVID-19 pandemic focused attention on healthcare disparities and inequities faced by individuals within marginalized and structurally disadvantaged groups in the United States. These individuals bore the heaviest burden across this pandemic as they faced increased risk of infection and difficulty in accessing testing and medical care. Individuals experiencing housing insecurity are a particularly vulnerable population given the additional barriers they face. In this scoping review, we identify some of the barriers this high-risk group experienced during the early days of the pandemic and assess novel solutions to overcome these barriers. Methods A scoping review was performed following PRISMA-Sc guidelines looking for studies focusing on COVID-19 testing among individuals experiencing housing insecurity. Barriers as well as solutions to barriers were identified as applicable and summarized using qualitative methods, highlighting particular ways that proved effective in facilitating access to testing access and delivery. Results Ultimately, 42 studies were included in the scoping review, with 143 barriers grouped into four categories: lack of cultural understanding, systemic racism, and stigma; medical care cost, insurance, and logistics; immigration policies, language, and fear of deportation; and other. Out of these 42 studies, 30 of these studies also suggested solutions to address them. Conclusion A paucity of studies have analyzed COVID-19 testing barriers among those experiencing housing insecurity, and this is even more pronounced in terms of solutions to address those barriers. Expanding resources and supporting investigators within this space is necessary to ensure equitable healthcare delivery.

Abstract
As COVID-19 evolves from a pandemic to an endemic disease, the already staggering number of people that have been or will be infected with SARS-CoV-2 is only destined to increase, and the majority of humanity will be infected. It is well understood that COVID-19, like many other viral infections, leaves a significant fraction of the infected with prolonged consequences. Continued high number of SARS-CoV-2 infections, viral evolution with escape from post-infection and vaccinal immunity, and reinfections heighten the potential impact of Long COVID. Hence, the impact of COVID-19 on human health will be seen for years to come until more effective vaccines and pharmaceutical treatments become available. To that effect, it is imperative that the mechanisms underlying the clinical manifestations of Long COVID be elucidated. In this article, we provide an in-depth analysis of the evidence on several potential mechanisms of Long COVID and discuss their relevance to its pathogenesis.

Abstract
Considerable scholarly attention has been directed to the adverse health effects caused by residential segregation. We aimed to visualize the state-of-the-art residential segregation and health research to provide a reference for follow-up studies. Employing the CiteSpace software, we uncovered popular themes, research hotspots, and frontiers based on an analysis of 1211 English-language publications, including articles and reviews retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database from 1998 to 2022. The results revealed: (1) The Social Science & Medicine journal has published the most studies. Roland J. Thorpe, Thomas A. LaVeist, Darrell J. Gaskin, David R. Williams, and others are the leading scholars in residential segregation and health research. The University of Michigan, Columbia University, Harvard University, the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, and the University of North Carolina play the most important role in current research. The U.S. is the main publishing country with significant academic influence. (2) Structural racism, COVID-19, mortality, multilevel modelling, and environmental justice are the top five topic clusters. (3) The research frontier of residential segregation and health has significantly shifted from focusing on community, poverty, infant mortality, and social class to residential environmental exposure, structural racism, and health care. We recommend strengthening comparative research on the health-related effects of residential segregation on minority groups in different socio-economic and cultural contexts.
