Abstract
Central sensitization (CS) involves an amplification of neural processing within the central nervous system that can result in widespread pain patterns and hypersensitivity to stimuli. The Central Sensitization Inventory (CSI) and various quantitative sensory testing (QST) methods purport to assess clinical markers of CS. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to summarize and quantify the associations between total CSI scores and QST measures from previous studies. A systematic search identified 39 unique studies that were deemed eligible for the systematic review and 33 studies for meta-analyses (with 3314 subjects and 154 effect sizes), including five QST modalities: conditioned pain modulation, temporal summation, pressure pain threshold, heat pain threshold, and cold pain threshold. The meta-analysis yielded statistically significant CSI-QST correlations in total subject samples for all five QST modalities. The strongest associations were identified between CSI scores and pain threshold testing, especially pressure pain threshold, in which 51% of effects sizes, from 29 studies and 3071 subjects, were determined to be in a medium to large range.

Abstract
In modern times there is increasing acceptance that music-based interventions are useful aids in the clinical treatment of a range of neurological and psychiatric conditions, including helping to reduce the perception of pain. Indeed, the belief that music, whether listening or performing, can alter human pain experiences has a long history, dating back to the ancient Greeks, and its potential healing properties have long been appreciated by indigenous cultures around the world. The subjective experience of acute or chronic pain is complex, influenced by many intersecting physiological and psychological factors, and it is therefore to be expected that the impact of music therapy on the pain experience may vary from one situation to another, and from one person to another. Where pain persists and becomes chronic, aberrant central processing is a key feature associated with the ongoing pain experience. Nonetheless, beneficial effects of exposure to music on pain relief have been reported across a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, and it has been shown to be effective in neonates, children and adults. In this comprehensive review we examine the various neurochemical, physiological and psychological factors that underpin the impact of music on the pain experience, factors that potentially operate at many levels - the periphery, spinal cord, brainstem, limbic system and multiple areas of cerebral cortex. We discuss the extent to which these factors, individually or in combination, influence how music affects both the quality and intensity of pain, noting that there remains controversy about the respective roles that diverse central and peripheral processes play in this experience. Better understanding of the mechanisms that underlie music's impact on pain perception together with insights into central processing of pain should aid in developing more effective synergistic approaches when music therapy is combined with clinical treatments. The ubiquitous nature of music also facilitates application from the therapeutic environment into daily life, for ongoing individual and social benefit.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Interdisciplinary pain rehabilitation (IPR) aims to improve functioning in people with chronic low back pain (CLBP), and is not primary aimed at pain reduction. Many patients however also report a decrease in pain. An explanation could be that IPR results in a decrease in Central Sensitization (CS). As CS is not directly assessable in humans the term Human Assumed Central Sensitization (HACS) is used in this study. It is unknown whether a decrease in HACS precedes a decrease in pain and improved functioning or vice versa. OBJECTIVES This study aimed to gain understanding into the temporal relationships between changes in pain, functioning, and HACS in patients with CLBP during IPR. DESIGN Longitudinal observational small-N-study. METHOD Twelve patients filled in frequently repeated self-reports 1 week before, during the 12-week IPR program, and 2 weeks after IPR. Pain was assessed by Visual Analogue Scale for pain (daily), functioning by Pain Disability Index (weekly) and Work Ability Score (daily), and HACS by Central Sensitization Inventory part A (bi-weekly). Analyses were performed by visual inspection and time series cross-correlation analyses. RESULTS Visual inspection showed large fluctuations within and between individual participants in patterns over time. Cross-correlation analyses showed that in most participants, relationships between pain, functioning, and HACS were strongest when analyzed at the same time (55% of comparisons). Strength and direction of (strongest) correlations showed high interindividual variability (neg: 0.33-0.97; pos: 0.22-0.99). CONCLUSION Overall, relationships between pain, functioning, and HACS did not show consistent temporality in patients with CLBP.

Abstract
The aims of this study were to phenotype pain in patients with interstitial lung disease (ILD) by investigating the association between sensitization-associated symptoms with quality of life, anxiety/depression, pain catastrophizing, and kinesiophobia levels and identifying those risk factors explaining the variance of quality of life in individuals with ILD and pain. One hundred and thirty-two (38.6% women, mean age: 70, standard deviation: 10.5 years) patients with ILD completed clinical (age, sex, height, weight), psychological (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale [HADS] and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index), and health-related quality of life (EQ-5D-5L) variables, as well as the Central Sensitization Inventory (CSI), the Self-Report Leeds Assessment of Neuropathic Symptoms (S-LANSS), Pain Catastrophizing Scale, and Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia (TSK-11) questionnaires. The prevalence of sensitization-associated symptomatology (CSI), neuropathic-like features (S-LANSS), anxiety symptoms, depressive symptoms, or poor sleep was 20.5%, 23.5%, 23.6%, 22.9%, or 51.6%. Significant associations between CSI, S-LANSS, HADS-A, HADS-D, Pain Catastrophizing Scale, TSK-11, and EQ-5D-5L (.220 < r < .716) were found. The regression analysis revealed that CSI, TSK-11, and HADS-D explained 44.8% of the variance of EQ-5D-5L (r2 adjusted: .448). This study found the presence of sensitization-associated and neuropathic-like symptoms as well as other central nervous system-derived symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, poor sleep, pain catastrophizing, and kinesiophobia in 25% of ILD patients with pain. Sensitization-associated symptoms, depression, and kinesiophobia were associated with a worse quality of life. These findings would support that individuals with ILD can exhibit different pain phenotypes, including nociplastic-like pain phenotype based on self-reported measurements. PERSPECTIVE: Pain in patients with ILD can fulfill features of different phenotypes, including nociplastic pain, when sensory, emotional, and cognitive mechanisms are involved at the same time.

Abstract
BACKGROUND It is unknown if central sensitization (CS)-related symptoms have an intermediate role that might explain how disability develops from pain after cervical spinal surgery. AIMS The study aim was to investigate the role of CS-related symptoms in the relationship between pain and disability reported after cervical spinal surgery. DESIGN Cross-sectional study. SETTINGS Tertiary care spinal surgery center. PARTICIPANTS/SUBJECTS The participants included individuals with a cervical degenerative condition who had undergone surgery. METHODS The following patient-reported outcome measures were evaluated: (1) Numerical Rating Scale; (2) Neck Disability Index; and (3) Short Form of the Central Sensitization Inventory. A hypothesized model containing the CS-related symptoms and the relationships between pain and disability was constructed and tested by structural equation modeling. RESULTS Questionnaires were mailed to 280 individuals, and responses were obtained from 145 participants. Of these respondents, 99 (68.3%) were males and 46 (31.7%) were females, with a mean age of 64.4 ± 12.3 years. The latent variable for pain, represented by the neck (coefficient: 0.856, p < .001) and upper limb pain (0.568, p < .001), influenced CS-related symptoms (coefficient: 0.504, p < .001). Pain directly affected disability (coefficient: 0.497, p < .001) and indirectly through CS-related symptoms. Bootstrap analysis confirmed this indirect effect (point estimate: 2.85, 95% confidence interval: 1.04 to 6.30, p = .04). CONCLUSIONS The results revealed that neck and upper limb pain affected disabilities both directly and through CS-related symptoms. Future research should focus on the efficacy of biopsychosocial approaches for patients after cervical spine surgery with a high risk of disability due to CS-related symptoms.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Chronic musculoskeletal pain is associated with decreased parasympathetic and increased sympathetic activity in the autonomic nervous system. The objective of this study was to determine the associations between objective measures of heart rate variability (a measure of autonomic nervous system function), actigraphy (a measure of activity and sleep quality), respiration rates, and subjective patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) of central sensitization, kinesiophobia, disability, the effect of pain on sleep, and life quality. METHODS Thirty-eight study subjects were divided into two subgroups, including low symptoms of central sensitization (n = 18) and high symptoms of central sensitization (n = 20), based on patient-reported scores on the Central Sensitization Inventory (CSI). Heart rate variability (HRV) and actigraphy measurements were carried out simultaneously in 24 h measurement during wakefulness and sleep. RESULTS A decrease in HRV during the first 2 h of sleep was stronger in the low CSI subgroup compared to the high CSI subgroup. Otherwise, all other HRV and actigraphy parameters and subjective measures of central sensitization, disability, kinesiophobia, the effect of pain on sleep, and quality of life showed only little associations. DISCUSSION The high CSI subgroup reported significantly more severe symptoms of disability, kinesiophobia, sleep, and quality of life compared to the low CSI subgroup. However, there were only small and nonsignificant trend in increased sympathetic nervous system activity and poorer sleep quality on the high central sensitization subgroup. Moreover, very little differences in respiratory rates were found between the groups.

Abstract
It has been suggested that central sensitization (CS) may be involved in the failure of standard medical and surgical treatment to relieve endometriosis-related pain. However, there is no gold standard for the diagnosis of CS, and self-reported questionnaires are used as diagnostic surrogates. The main objective of this review was to identify all CS questionnaires used in clinical endometriosis studies. The secondary objective was to qualitatively analyze strengths and weaknesses of each questionnaire. A PubMed and EMBASE systematic literature search conducted in April 2023 using the terms "endometriosis; central pain; central sensitization; questionnaire; patient-reported outcome measure; screening tool" identified 122 publications: six articles were included in the review. The Central Sensitization Inventory (CSI) is the most frequently used questionnaire for the detection of CS in patients with endometriosis. It has been validated in patients with endometriosis, in whom it appears to have good psychometric proprieties. The Fibromyalgia Survey Questionnaire (FSQ) has also been used, although it has not been specifically validated in endometriosis patients. The debate regarding these questionnaires' construct validity is still open and will be so until a gold standard diagnostic tool for CS is found. In fact, some authors argue these questionnaires are measuring psychological vulnerability and a hypervigilant state that is associated with pain, rather than CS itself. However, their use should not be discouraged as they are able to identify chronic pain patients which warrant further attention and who may benefit from broader treatment strategies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Controversy exists with the presence of alterations in descending pain inhibition mechanisms in patients with non-specific neck pain (NSNP). The aim of the present study was to evaluate the status of conditioned pain modulation CPM, remote pressure pain thresholds (PPT), and psychological factors in a specific subgroup of patients with NSNP such as young adult students. In addition, possible associations between CPM, psychological factors, and pain characteristics were analyzed. METHODS Thirty students with recurrent or chronic NSNP and 30 pain-free students were included in this cross-sectional study. The following measures were assessed: CPM, remote PPT, psychological factors (depression, anxiety, pain catastrophizing, and kinesiophobia), pain characteristics (duration, intensity, severity of chronic pain, interference with daily life), and central sensitization inventory (CSI). RESULTS No significant differences were found in the efficacy of CPM between students with chronic or recurrent NSNP and pain-free students (β coefficient = -0.67; 95% CI = -1.54, 0.20). However, students with pain showed a significantly higher remote PPT (mean difference = -1.94; 95% CI = -2.71, -1.18). and a greater presence of anxious (mean difference = 6; 95% CI = 2, 9) and depressive symptoms (mean difference = 8.57; 95% CI = 3.97, 13.16). In addition, significant moderate or strong correlations were found between CPM and pain intensity (partial r = 0.41), pain catastrophizing and mean pain intensity (r = 0.37), grade (r = 0.50), and interference of pain (r = 0.57), kinesiophobia and disability (r = 0.38), and depression and CSI (r = 0.39). CONCLUSIONS Young adult students with chronic or recurrent NSNP present remote hyperalgesia and symptoms of depression and anxiety but not dysfunctional CPM.

Abstract
Chronic overlapping pain conditions (COPCs) by definition, frequently co-occur, perhaps reflecting their shared etiologies. Their overlapping nature presents a methodological challenge, possibly masking associations between COPCs and health outcomes attributable to either general or specific processes. To address this challenge, we used population-based cohort data to evaluate the predictive validity of a bifactor model of 9 self-reported COPCs by assessing its association with incident pain-related clinical diagnoses; pain-relevant pharmacotherapy; and other health outcomes. We obtained data from a 2005 to 2006 study of Swedish adult twins linked with health data from nationwide registers through 2016 (N = 25,418). We then fit a bifactor model comprising a general COPC factor and 2 independent specific factors measuring pain-related somatic symptoms and neck and shoulder pain. Accounting for age, biological sex, and cancer, the general factor was associated with increased risk of all pain-related outcomes (eg, COPC diagnosis adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 1.71; 95% confidence interval [1.62, 1.81]), most mental health-related outcomes (eg, depression aOR, 1.72 [1.60, 1.85]), and overdose and mortality (eg, all-cause mortality aOR, 1.25 [1.09, 1.43]). The somatic symptoms specific factor was associated with pain-relevant pharmacotherapy (eg, prescribed opioids aOR, 1.25 [1.15, 1.36]), most mental health-related outcomes (eg, depression aOR, 1.95 [1.70, 2.23]), and overdose (eg, nonfatal overdose aOR, 1.66 [1.31, 2.10]). The neck and shoulder pain-specific factor was weakly and inconsistently associated with the outcomes. Findings provide initial support for the validity and utility of a general-factor model of COPCs as a tool to strengthen understanding of co-occurrence, etiology, and consequences of chronic pain. PERSPECTIVE: This article presents associations between a novel measurement model of COPCs and various health outcomes. Findings provide support for measuring pain across multiple domains rather than only measuring pain specific to one physical location in both research and clinical contexts.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Quantitative sensory testing (QST) offers information regarding underlying mechanisms contributing to chronic pain (CP) in adults with musculoskeletal disorders. This review examined the use of QST measures in adults with CP following participation in a combined exercise and psychological intervention. METHODS The review was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. Five databases were searched from inception to November 2022. All study designs which evaluated the effects of a combined exercise and psychological treatment on measures of nervous system sensitivity in adults with chronic musculoskeletal pain were included. RESULTS A total of 13 studies met the selection criteria, 10 of which were included in a meta-analysis. Local pressure pain thresholds were the most frequently used measure (n = 12 studies). Meta-analysis revealed statistically significantly improvements in favour of the combined exercise and psychological intervention group, compared to a control group, for local pressure pain threshold measures [SMD = 0.44, 95% CI 0.08-0.81, I2 = 84%], pain intensity scores [SMD=-0.89, 95% CI -1.66- -0.13, I2 = 94%] and the Central Sensitisation Inventory [SMD=-0.69, 95% CI -1.37- -0.02, I2 = 87%]. There were no significant differences found between groups for remote pressure pain thresholds, temporal summation or conditioned pain modulation. CONCLUSIONS The results suggest that a combined exercise and psychological intervention may lead to greater improvements in local pressure pain threshold, pain intensity and Central Sensitisation Inventory scores when compared to a control intervention in adults with CP, however these findings must be interpreted with caution as a large degree of heterogeneity was present in these results (I2: 84-94%). Further large, longitudinal studies are required using standardised QST measurement procedures and patient reported outcome measures to explore changes in nervous system sensitisation. Abstract
Background The Pain Sensitivity Questionnaire (PSQ) is a reliable and valid self-reported tool for the assessment of pain sensitivity in clinical practice. The PSQ has been translated, validated, and cross-culturally adapted into multiple languages. However, a validated Arabic version of the PSQ is not available. Thus, this study aims to translate, validate, and cross-culturally adapt the English version of the PSQ into the Arabic language. Methods and materials The English version of the PSQ was translated and culturally adapted into Arabic following international guidelines. The psychometric properties of the final version of the PSQ-Arabic (PSQ-A) were tested among 119 patients with different persistent musculoskeletal (MSK) pain. Findings The Cronbach's α for the PSQ-A-total, PSQ-A-moderate, and PSQ-C-minor were 0.81, 0.79, and 0.76, respectively. The means for the PSQ-A-total, PSQ-A-moderate, and PSQ-C-minor scores were 5.07 (±1.28), 5.64 (±2.07), and 4.50 (±0.50). The test-retest reliability measured with the interclass correlation coefficient for 68 subjects was 0.80 for the PSQ-A-total, 0.74 for the PSQ-A-moderate, and 0.77 for the PSQ-A-minor. The PSQ-A-total and the PSQ-A-minor showed positive significant correlations with pain catastrophizing scale (PCS) (r = 0.15, 0.17); P ≤ 0.05), respectively. The PSQ-A-total, PSQ-A-moderate, and PSQ-A-minor showed positive significant correlations with the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI)-pain scores (r = 0.47, 0.43, 0.45; P ≤ 0.01), respectively and with the BPI-pain interference scores (r = 0.37, 0.33, 0.34; P ≤ 0.01), respectively. Conclusions This study shows that the PSQ-A is a reliable and valid tool to assess individuals with pain sensitivity in Arabic populations. Further studies are recommended to examine the concurrent validity of the PSQ-A against experimental pain sensitivity measures.

Abstract
Chronic pain has increasingly become a significant health challenge, not just as a symptomatic manifestation but also as a pathological condition with profound socioeconomic implications. Despite the expansion of medical interventions, the prevalence of chronic pain remains remarkably persistent, prompting a turn towards non-pharmacological treatments, such as therapeutic education, exercise, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. With the advent of cognitive neuroscience, pain is often presented as a primary output derived from the brain, aligning with Engel's Biopsychosocial Model that views disease not solely from a biological perspective but also considering psychological and social factors. This paradigm shift brings forward potential misconceptions and over-simplifications. The current review delves into the intricacies of nociception and pain perception. It questions long-standing beliefs like the cerebral-centric view of pain, the forgotten role of the peripheral nervous system in pain chronification, misconceptions around central sensitization syndromes, the controversy about the existence of a dedicated pain neuromatrix, the consciousness of the pain experience, and the possible oversight of factors beyond the nervous system. In re-evaluating these aspects, the review emphasizes the critical need for understanding the complexity of pain, urging the scientific and clinical community to move beyond reductionist perspectives and consider the multifaceted nature of this phenomenon.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES We evaluate the presence of sensitization-associated symptoms and neuropathic pain features and identify if there is an association between these symptoms and pressure pain sensitivity, pain, and related-disability in lateral elbow tendinopathy. METHODS Thirty-seven (43% women, age: 45.5 ± 9.5 years) patients with lateral elbow tendinopathy completed: demographic (i.e. age, height, and weight); clinical (i.e. pain history, pain intensity, and Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand); and psychophysical (i.e. pressure pain thresholds at the elbow, cervical spine, hand, and leg) outcomes, and the Central Sensitization Inventory and Self-administered Leeds Assessment of Neuropathic Symptoms and Signs questionnaires. Step-wise multiple linear regression models were performed to identify predictors of sensitization- or neuropathic-associated symptoms. RESULTS Six (16%) patients exhibited sensitization-associated symptoms (mean: 46.5, SD: 6.1), whereas 13 (35%) patients showed neuropathic-associated symptoms (mean: 13.5; SD: 1.4). Sensitization-associated symptoms were positively associated with neuropathic-associated symptoms (r = 0.538, P = .001) and negatively associated with pressure pain thresholds at the leg (r = -0.378, P = .021). Neuropathic-associated symptoms were positively associated with related-disability (r = 0.479, P = .003) and negatively associated with pressure pain threshold at the elbow (r = -0.394, P = .017). Stepwise regression analyses revealed that neuropathic-like symptoms explained 26.8% of the variance of sensitization symptoms (r2: 0.268), whereas pressure pain threshold at the elbow explained an additional 6.6% to neuropathic-like symptoms (r2: 0.334). CONCLUSION This explorative study identified sensitization- and neuropathic-associated symptoms in 16% and 35% of the people with lateral elbow tendinopathy. Sensitization- and neuropathic-associated symptoms were associated. Pressure pain sensitivity at the elbow (peripheral sensitization) was associated with neuropathic -associated symptoms.

Abstract
Purpose The Patient Self-Report Survey for the Assessment of Fibromyalgia may potentially be a method for subgrouping patients with musculoskeletal pain who have a nociplastic pain presentation. Limited research has explored the convergent validity of this questionnaire against psychophysical measures of pain sensitivity and psychological factors in individuals with musculoskeletal pain. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the strength of the association between total scores on the Patient Self-Report Survey for the Assessment of Fibromyalgia with clinical, pain sensitivity, and psychological factors. Patients and Methods As a secondary analysis of a cross-sectional study, participants with shoulder (n = 20) or low back pain (n = 20) completed Quantitative Sensory Testing (QST), pain-related psychological questionnaires, and the Patient Self-Report Survey for the Assessment of Fibromyalgia. A Spearman correlation determined the association between total scores on the Patient Self Report Survey for the Assessment of Fibromyalgia with psychological factors and pain sensitivity behaviorally assessed with QST. Results Negative psychological factors demonstrate moderate to strong positive associations with the Patient Self-Report Survey for the Assessment of Fibromyalgia (rho range = 0.36-0.80), suggesting greater negative psychological factors were observed in patients with higher severity of fibromyalgia symptoms. Pain sensitivity factors demonstrated weak to moderate negative associations with The Patient Self-Report Survey for the Assessment of Fibromyalgia (PPT rho range=-0.36- -0.41), suggesting that elevated pain sensitivity was observed in individuals with higher severity of nociplastic pain symptoms. Conclusion Collectively, this supports the convergent validity of the Patient Self-Report Survey for the Assessment of Fibromyalgia with psychological and pain sensitivity factors in patients with musculoskeletal pain.

Abstract
Objective A high discrepancy between the number of tender and swollen joints (e.g. ΔTSJ ≥ 7) has previously been used as an indication for the presence of changes in central mechanisms in patients with moderate-to-high disease activity. In this study, we explored whether the ΔTSJ can also be used to obtain insights into the underlying pain mechanisms in patients with on average well-controlled disease activity. Methods A 2 year retrospective analysis of routinely obtained 28-joint DAS (DAS28) components was performed on 45 patients with low inflammatory activity at the group level. All patients underwent pressure pain threshold (PPT) and electrical pain threshold (EPT) measurements and completed four self-report questionnaires [short-form 36 (SF-36v2); central sensitization inventory (CSI); generalized pain questionnaire (GPQ); and the pain catastrophizing scale (PCS)]. Results Patients with a ΔTSJ ≥ 3 at least once in the past 2 years showed significantly lower EPT and PPT values and higher levels of pain and disability on the SF-36v2 compared with the ΔTSJ < 3 group. Furthermore, GPQ scores were significantly higher in those with ΔTSJ ≥ 3, while CSI and PCS scores were similar. Conclusion These findings suggest that in patients in the ΔTSJ ≥ 3 group, mechanisms other than inflammation (only) underlie the pain. Moreover, our findings suggest that among the multiple potential underlying psychological mechanisms, pain catastrophizing (as measured by the PCS) and psychological hypervigilance (as measured by the CSI) do not play an important role. These findings could be useful in the clinical management of the patient. Depending on the dominant mechanism underlying the (persistent) pain, patients might respond differently to treatment.

Abstract
Central sensitization cannot be directly demonstrated in humans and thus a gold standard is missing. Therefore, we used human assumed central sensitization (HACS) when associated with humans. The central sensitization inventory (CSI) is a screening questionnaire for addressing symptoms that are associated with HACS. This cross-sectional study compared patients with chronic pain and at least one central sensitivity syndrome with healthy, pain-free controls via ROC analyses. Analyses were performed for all participants together and for each sex separately. Regression analyses were performed on patients with chronic pain with and without central sensitivity syndromes. Based on 1730 patients and 250 healthy controls, cutoff values for the CSI for the total group were established at 30 points: women: 33 points; men: 25 points. Univariate and multivariate regression analyses were used to identify possible predictors for the CSI score in 2890 patients with chronic pain. The CSI score is associated with all independent factors and has a low association with pain severity in women and a low association with pain severity, age, and body mass index in men. The newly established CSI cutoff values are lower than in previous studies and different per sex, which might be of clinical relevance in daily practice and importance in research.

Abstract
Although the prevalence of cancer pain is 47% after treatment, cancer pain is often underestimated, and many patients are undertreated. The complexity of cancer pain contributes to the lack of its management. Recently, as the mechanism of cancer pain, it has become clear that central sensitization (CS) influences chronic pain conditions and the transition from acute to chronic pain. In this state-of-the-art review, we summarized the association of CS or central sensitivity syndrome with pain and the treatment for pain targeting CS in cancer survivors. The management of patients with CS should not only focus on tissue damage in either the affected body regions or within the central nervous system; rather, it should aim to target the underlying factors that sustain the CS process. Pain neuroscience education (PNE) is gaining popularity for managing chronic musculoskeletal pain and could be effective for pain and CS in breast cancer survivors. However, there is a study that did not demonstrate significant improvements after PNE, so further research is needed. Precision medicine involves the classification of patients into subgroups based on a multifaceted evaluation of disease and the implementation of treatment tailored to the characteristics of each patient, which may play a central role in the treatment of CS.
