Abstract
Skin macrophages are critical to maintain and restore skin homeostasis. They serve as major producers of cytokines and chemokines in the skin, participating in diverse biological processes such as wound healing and psoriasis. The heterogeneity and functional diversity of macrophage subpopulations endow them with multifaceted roles in psoriasis development. A distinct subpopulation of skin macrophages, characterized by high expression of CD169, has been reported to exist in both mouse and human skin. However, its role in psoriasis remains unknown. Here, we report that CD169+ macrophages exhibit increased abundance in imiquimod (IMQ) induced psoriasis-like skin lesions. Specific depletion of CD169+ macrophages in CD169-ditheria toxin receptor (CD169-DTR) mice inhibits IMQ-induced psoriasis, resulting in milder symptoms, diminished proinflammatory cytokine levels and reduced proportion of Th17 cells within the skin lesions. Furthermore, transcriptomic analysis uncovers enhanced activity in CD169+ macrophages when compared with CD169- macrophages, characterized by upregulated genes that are associated with cell activation and cell metabolism. Mechanistically, CD169+ macrophages isolated from IMQ-induced skin lesions produce more proinflammatory cytokines and exhibit enhanced ability to promote Th17 cell differentiation in vitro. Collectively, our findings highlight the crucial involvement of CD169+ macrophages in psoriasis development and offer novel insights into the heterogeneity of skin macrophages in the context of psoriasis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with manifestations that go beyond the visual manifestation, and include psychological aspects. Some mental disorders or personality traits in psoriasis patients have also been highlighted, such as a negative or problematic attitude towards life, impulsive or avoidant behavior, and lower satisfaction with life. The aim of our cross-sectional study was to explore the associations between adult attachment, temperament, and quality of life of patients with psoriasis. METHODS A sample of 75 patients with psoriasis was evaluated with the Attachment Style Questionnaire (ASQ) to study adult attachment, the Temperament Evaluation of Memphis, Pisa, and San Diego Auto-questionnaire (TEMPS-A) to study temperament traits, and the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) to study the impact of dermatological diseases on patients' lives. RESULTS Depressive, cyclothymic, and irritable temperaments were found to be significantly positively associated with a need for approval and preoccupation with relationships subscales of the ASQ. The severity of skin disease effect on the patient's life was higher in women than in men. Moreover, a statistically significant effect of the need for approval subscale of the ASQ was found. The positive correlation between the severity of skin disease effect on the patient's life with a need for approval was statistically significant and stronger in women than in men. CONCLUSIONS A better understanding of the impact of mental comorbidities on psoriasis and vice versa places an ever-greater responsibility on dermatologists involved in the management of psoriasis to recognize these problems and collaborate with psychologists and psychiatrists to help these patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Psoriasis is a disease that often requires prolonged systemic treatment. It is important to determine the safety of available therapies. There is currently little insight into sex-specific differences in the safety of systemic psoriasis therapies. OBJECTIVES To examine the real-world, long-term safety of systemic psoriasis therapies with sex stratification in drug-related adverse events (ADRs). METHODS Ten-year data from adults with moderate-to-severe psoriasis requiring systemic treatment (conventional systemic therapies [CST], biologics) were obtained from the Swiss psoriasis registry (SDNTT). ADRs were categorized according to the international terminology Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities (MedDRA). Safety was assessed by calculating event rates per 100 patient-years (PY). We used descriptive statistics for patient and disease characteristics, and binomial and t-tests to compare treatment groups and sex. RESULTS In total, 791 patients (290 females) were included with a mean age of 46 years. 358 (45%) received CSTs and 433 (55%) biologics; both groups had similar baseline characteristics except for more joint involvement in patients using biologics (26.86% vs. 14.8%, p < 0.0001). CSTs were associated with a 2.2-fold higher ADR rate (40.43/100 PY vs. 18.22/100 PY, p < 0.0001) and an 8.0-fold higher drug-related discontinuation rate than biologics (0.16/PY vs. 0.02/PY, p < 0.0001). Trends showed non-significant higher serious adverse event rates per 100 PY for biologics (8.19, CI 6.87-9.68) compared to CSTs (7.08, CI 5.39-9.13) (p = 0.3922). Sex stratification revealed a significantly higher overall ADR rate for all treatments in females (1.8-fold for CSTs [57.30/100 PY vs. 31.69/100 PY] and 2.0-fold for biologics [27.36/100 PY vs. 13.9/100 PY], p < 0.0001), and drug-related discontinuation rates for most CSTs in females. CONCLUSION Females were associated with a significantly higher rate of ADRs and drug-related discontinuation rates. Sex stratification should be taken into consideration when designing studies in the patient-tailored management of psoriasis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Among the over 80 different autoimmune diseases, psoriasis (PsO), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and ankylosing spondylitis (AS) are common representatives. Previous studies indicated a potential link with cancer risk, but suffered often from low statistical power. Thus, we aimed to synthesize the evidence and quantify the association to different female-specific cancer sites. METHODS The systematic review was performed according to PRISMA guidelines. A search string was developed for the databases PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library and Embase. Results were screened independently by two investigators and the risk of bias was assessed using the ROBINS-E tool. Meta-analyses were performed using inverse variance weighted random-effects models. Statistical between-study heterogeneity was quantified by calculating Cochran's Q, τ2, and Higgins' I2 statistics. Sources of heterogeneity were analyzed and adjusted for within an intensive bias assessment in the form of meta-regression, outlier, influential, and subgroup analyses. A range of methods were used to test and adjust for publication bias. RESULTS Of 10,096 records that were originally identified by the search strategy, 45 were included in the meta-analyses. RA was inversely associated with both breast and uterine cancer occurrence, while PsO was associated with a higher breast cancer risk. Outlier-adjusted estimates confirmed these findings. Bias assessment revealed differences in geographic regions, particularly in RA patients, with higher estimates among Asian studies. An additional analysis revealed no association between psoriatic arthritis and breast cancer. CONCLUSIONS RA seems to reduce the risk of breast and uterine cancers, while PsO appears to increase breast cancer risk. Further large studies are required to investigate potential therapy-effects and detailed biological mechanisms.

Abstract
Moderate-to-severe psoriasis (Ps) treatment includes systemic drugs and biological agents. Apremilast, a small molecule primarily metabolized by cytochrome CYP3A4, modulates the immune system by specifically inhibiting phosphodiesterase type 4 (PDE4) isoforms and is currently used for the treatment of Ps and psoriatic arthritis (PsA). Clinical trials and real-world data showed variable efficacy in response among Ps patients underlying the need for personalized therapy. This study implements a candidate-gene and a network-based approach to identify genetic markers associated with apremilast response in forty-nine Greek Ps patients. Our data revealed an association of sixty-four SNPs within or near PDE4 and CYP3A4 genes, four SNPs in ncRNAs ANRIL, LINC00941 and miR4706, which influence the abundance or function of PDE4s, and thirty-three SNPs within fourteen genes whose protein products either interact directly with PDE4 proteins or constitute components of the cAMP signaling pathway which is modulated by PDE4s. Notably, fifty-six of the aforementioned SNPs constitute eQTLs for the respective genes in relevant to psoriasis tissues/cells implying that these variants could be causal. Our analysis provides a number of novel genetic variants that, upon validation in larger cohorts, could be utilized as predictive markers regarding the response of Ps patients to apremilast treatment.

Abstract
Psoriasis can have a significant impact on quality of life and productivity, especially with increased severity. However, there is limited evidence on biologics' efficacy in highly severe cases compared to moderate-to-severe ones. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of novel biological therapies in very severe psoriasis. We conducted a retrospective analysis on patients ≥ 18 years old affected by very severe psoriasis who had received a biological agent for at least 16 weeks. We used PASI to assess disease severity and effectiveness at weeks 16, 52, 104, and 156. Safety was evaluated by tracking treatment discontinuation rates and adverse events. This study included 29 males and 11 females, with a mean age of 55.80 years (SD 13.82). Cardiometabolic diseases were the most common comorbidities (25.00%). Twenty-eight (70.00%) patients had psoriasis involvement in at least one difficult-to-treat area. All patients completed 16 weeks of treatment. The mean PASI was 31.60 (SD 2.57) at baseline, 3.48 (SD 4.13) at week 16, 0.58 (SD 1.70) at week 52, 0.77 (SD 1.66) at week 104, and 1.29 (SD 2.12) at week 156. PASI90 and 100 were achieved by 52.50% and 30.00% of patients at week 16, by 96.15% and 80.77% at week 52, by 93.33% and 66.67% at week 104, and by 85.71% and 42.86% at week 156. PASIs ≤ 2 were achieved by 50.00% of patients at week 16, 88.46% at week 52, 86.67% at week 104, and 85.71% at week 156. Only two patients discontinued biologics due to complete remission, and mild AEs were reported by four patients. Our findings show that biologics are effective and well tolerated for treating very severe psoriasis, maintaining long-term effectiveness.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Despite improved treatment options for plaque psoriasis within the last decades, some patients still have an inadequate response to treatment. Direct clinical evaluation between therapies used after biologic failure could facilitate physicians' choice of treatment. METHODS COBRA (NCT04533737) was a randomized (1:1), blinded (patient and assessor), 28-week, active-comparator trial conducted in Europe from December 2020 to December 2022. The objective was to compare the efficacy and safety of brodalumab versus guselkumab in adults with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis and inadequate response to ustekinumab. Patients received either brodalumab 210 mg or guselkumab 100 mg. The primary [having Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI)-100 response at week 16] and key secondary (time to PASI-100 response) endpoints were tested in a fixed sequence. RESULTS Due to delays and enrollment challenges, recruitment was terminated with 113 patients enrolled of 240 planned. The proportion of patients having PASI-100 at week 16 for brodalumab was 53.4% compared with 35.9% for guselkumab [odds ratio (OR) 2.05; 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.95, 4.44; p = 0.069]. As this was not statistically significant, the hierarchical testing procedure was stopped. All other secondary PASI endpoints had nominal p-values below 0.05 in favor of brodalumab. In the time to PASI response analyses, brodalumab separated from guselkumab in estimated cumulative incidence of patients achieving a response from week 2 onward, suggesting fast onset of action with brodalumab. Quality of life measures improved in both treatment groups. The safety findings were consistent with the known safety profiles. CONCLUSIONS Brodalumab showed a tendency toward better and earlier effect than guselkumab in patients who had failed ustekinumab. Thus, this trial provides important information in assisting physicians in their choice of therapy for patients who have failed their prior anti-interleukin (IL)-12/23 treatment. Abstract
Psoriasis is a chronic disease, involving skin and joints, characterized by inflamed lesions. Psoriasis negatively impacts the patients' quality of life due to the physical, emotional, and social burden that accompanies this condition. Also, psoriasis is associated with a number of psychiatric comorbidities, including sexual dysfunctions. The present study investigates the variables associated with sexual functioning in psoriasis patients. One-hundred-three psoriasis patients and 101 matched control subjects took part in the present study. Each participant completed five self-report measures investigating the presence of depression, anxiety and stress symptoms, body image, quality of life, and sexual experience. Our results show that differences in sexual activity, but not in sexual functioning, emerged between groups. In men with psoriasis, more sexual difficulties were associated with more negative automatic thoughts about sexuality. In women, more sexual difficulties were associated with more negative automatic thoughts; anxiety, depression, and stress; severity of symptoms; comorbid disease; age; quality of life. Our findings expand the current knowledge about sexual functioning in psoriasis and shed light on specific cognitive, psychological, and demographic variables associated with sexual impairment in men and women with psoriasis.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Psoriasis (Pso) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) can reduce the quality of life (QoL) and are known to be associated with depression. Within this study, we aimed to assess the burden of disease, functional capacity, quality of life, and depressive symptoms and identify factors predicting functional impairment and depression in patients with psoriatic disease. METHODS A cross-sectional survey was conducted in a cohort of 300 patients with psoriatic disease including 150 patients from a university hospital dermatology outpatient clinic and 150 patients from a university hospital rheumatology outpatient clinic. Questionnaire-based assessment of signs of arthritis (Psoriasis Epidemiology Screening Tool; PEST), functional status (Functional Questionnaire Hannover; FFbH), quality of life (World Health Organization Quality of Life Brief Version; WHOQOL-BREF), and depressive symptoms (Patient health questionnaire 9; PHQ-9) and retrospective medical chart analysis were performed. RESULTS Despite treatment, burden of disease was high. Joint pain was reported in multiple regions in patients with Pso (n = 111) and patients with PsA (n = 189), but with differences in frequency and distribution patterns of symptoms. Functional impairment in everyday life was independently associated with diagnosis of PsA (odds ratio [OR] 9.56, p = 0.005), depressive symptoms (OR 5.44, p < 0.001) and age (OR 1.04, p = 0.033). At least mild depressive symptoms were demonstrated in 54% and 69% of patients with Pso and PsA, respectively. In a logistic regression model, depressive symptoms were independently associated with functional impairment (OR 4.50, p = 0.003), axial complaints (OR 2.80, p = 0.030), diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis (OR 2.69, p = 0.046), and number of joint regions with complaints (OR 1.10, p = 0.032). CONCLUSION Functional impairment, QoL, and depressive symptoms are mutually interdependent. Early diagnosis of PsA and initiation of anti-inflammatory therapy are essential to avoid long-term damage, disability, and mental health complications. However, despite therapy many patients with PsA, and especially female patients, report a substantial residual disease burden due to their psoriatic disease which will need to be addressed by a more patient-centered approach.

Abstract
Background The prevalence of psoriasis is similar between men and women; however, evidence exists of sex- and gender-related differences in disease expression, impact, coping, and needs of patients with psoriasis. These differences are essential and should be considered in clinical practice and research. Objective To compile available evidence on sex- and gender-related differences in psoriasis, identify the most critical gaps in clinical practice and research, and use it to propose strategies for improved clinical practice. Methods Six European dermatologists selected the topics to consider according to their relevance in the dermatology setting with the support of methodologists. Evidence on sex- and gender-related differences was obtained by a scoping review based on search strategies in Medline and Cochrane Library from inception to October 2021 using the following terms: arthritis, psoriatic, psoriasis, gender, and sex. The panel discussed the results and proposed strategies by consensus. Results The scoping review identified broad themes: (1) clinical expression, (2) severity and patient-reported outcomes, (3) psychosocial impact, (4) access to treatments and propensity to treat, (5) comorbidities, and (6) treatment effect. The strategies are based on these broad themes. Limitations No risk of bias assessment was done due to the scoping nature of the review. Conclusion This review offers insights into gender differences in psoriasis, providing a foundation for improving clinical practice and patient outcomes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The ultimate goal of medical care is to eradicate disease and restore normality to a person's life. Quality of life (QOL) is a concern as dermatologists and researchers strive to find better drug treatments. However, there have been few reports on the factors associated with QOL among Chinese people with psoriasis. METHODS A total of 185 people with psoriasis were surveyed to assess their sociodemographic status, disease-related information, psychosocial status, and QOL. The questionnaires included a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Athens Insomnia Scale, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, the Perceived Social Support Scale, the Psychosocial Adaptation Questionnaire of Chronic Skin Disease and the Dermatology Life Quality Index. Multiple stepwise regression and path analysis were used to study the factors associated with QOL among Chinese people with psoriasis and to analyse the relationship between them. RESULTS The results showed that the presence of anxiety/depression, lesion area, sleep disorders, psychosocial adaptation, and sex could jointly predict 62.1% of the variance in QOL among Chinese people with psoriasis. According to previous theories and the literature, a path model was established for five variables. Four internal variables could be effectively explained. The values of the explanatory variables were 62.1% (F(1056) = 61.020, p = 0.000) for QOL, 71.8% (F(2433) = 117.370, p = 0.000) for anxiety/depression, 44.0% (F(660) = 36.935, p = 0.000) for sleep disorders, and 66.9% (F(6886) = 93.556, p = 0.000) for psychosocial adaptation. The path analysis confirmed that 9 paths were consistent with the predicted path, and 3 paths were not confirmed. CONCLUSION To improve QOL among Chinese people with psoriasis, attention should be given to the presence of anxiety/depression, lesion area, sleep disorders, psychosocial adaptation and sex differences. Therefore, health care programs for psoriasis should include physical, psychological and social aspects.

Comparative Effectiveness of Biologics Across Subgroups of Patients with Moderate-to-Severe Plaque Psoriasis: Results at Week 12 from the PSoHO Study in a Real-World Setting. Abstract
INTRODUCTION In routine clinical care, important treatment outcomes among patients with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis (PsO) have been shown to vary according to patient demographics and disease characteristics. This study aimed to provide direct comparative effectiveness data at week 12 between anti-interleukin (IL)-17A biologics relative to other approved biologics for the treatment of PsO across seven clinically relevant patient subgroups in the real-world setting. METHODS From the international, non-interventional Psoriasis Study of Health Outcomes (PSoHO), 1981 patients with moderate-to-severe PsO were grouped a priori according to seven clinically relevant demographic and disease variables with binary categories, which were sex (male or female), age (< 65 or ≥ 65 years), body mass index (≤ 30 or > 30 kg/m2), race (White or Asian), PsO disease duration (< 15 or ≥ 15 years), psoriatic arthritis (PsA) comorbidity (present or absent), and prior biologic use (never or ≥ 1). Across these subgroups, effectiveness was compared between the anti-IL-17A cohort (ixekizumab, secukinumab) versus all other approved biologics and ixekizumab versus five individual biologics. The proportion of patients in each subgroup who achieved 90% improvement in Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI90) and/or static Physician Global Assessment (sPGA) 0/1, PASI100, or PASI90 at week 12 were assessed. Comparative analyses were conducted using frequentist model averaging (FMA). Missing data were imputed using non-responder imputation. RESULTS Patients in each of the seven subgroups achieved similar response rates to those of the overall treatment cohort, apart from patients with PsA treated with other biologics who had 7-10% lower response rates. Consequently, patients with comorbid PsA had significantly higher odds of achieving skin clearance at week 12 with anti-IL-17A biologics compared to other biologics. Patients in all subgroups had significantly higher odds of achieving PASI90 and/or sPGA (0,1), PASI100, and PASI90 in the anti-IL-17A cohort relative to the other biologics cohort, except for the Asian subgroup. No sex- or age-specific differences in treatment effectiveness after 12 weeks were identified, neither between the treatment cohorts nor between the individual treatment comparisons. CONCLUSIONS Despite relative consistency of comparative treatment effectiveness across subgroups, the presence of comorbid PsA may affect a patient's clinical response to some treatments.

Abstract
The principal pathology of psoriasis is impaired skin barrier function, epidermal thickening, and granular layer loss. Exposure to extrinsic factors such as tobacco smoke and air pollutants is associated with the development of psoriasis. Aryl hydrocarbon receptors (AHRs) are activated by extrinsic factors associated with the development of psoriasis and act as transcriptional regulators. Expression of aldo-keto reductase (AKR) 1C3 in the epidermal spinous layer regulates epidermal keratinocyte differentiation via the AHR signaling pathway. We investigated whether single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in AKR1C3 are associated with the pathogenesis of psoriasis. The proportions of rs12529 G/C, C/C variants, and rs12387 A/A, A/G variants were twofold higher in Japanese psoriasis patients (n = 231) compared with a Japanese healthy cohort. The SNPs were significantly more common than the majority variants in female patients with disease onset ≤ 22 years of age. Patients with rs12529 G > C and rs12387 A > G SNPs exhibited significantly lower AKR1C3 expression and higher expression of late differentiation markers. In conclusion, AKR1C3 downregulation caused by rs12529 G > C and rs12387 A > G SNPs in the epidermis induces abnormal early differentiation of keratinocytes and skin barrier dysfunction, which may contribute to the genetic pathogenesis of psoriasis in young females.

Abstract
Background The Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) and the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) are important evaluation tools for assessing psoriasis severity and guiding treatment options. However, the scores of PASI and DLQI are often inconsistent. Objective This study aimed to identify the factors affecting the consistency between PASI and DLQI. Methods The retrospective study was based on 4125 patients. We collected the PASI, DLQI, demographic and clinical characteristics data. Results DLQI has a weak correlation with PASI (r=0.37; P<0.001). For the DLQI >10 groups, DLQI has almost no correlation with PASI (r=0.16; P<0.001). There are 43.60% of mild-to-moderate patients (PASI<10) in the DLQI>10 groups. Our adjusted model showed that foot (OR=2.109; 95% CI:1.581-2.815) involvement led to the greatest impairment of QoL except for PASI≥10 (OR=5.547; 95% CI:3.477-8.845). Furthermore, DLQI impairment was associated with female (OR=1.336; 95% CI:1.071-1.667); the age of 20-39 subgroup (OR=1.795; 95% CI:1.100-2.930); psoriatic arthritis (OR=1.718; 95% CI:1.208-2.443); higher income (OR = 1.408; 95% CI: 1.067-1.858); family history of psoriasis (OR=1.460; 95% CI:1.131-1.885). Moreover, the influence of exposed lesions (such as scalp; face; neck; nails; and hands) were positively associated with severely impaired QoL. Conclusion Dermatologists should recognize the underestimated disease burden of psoriasis patients and actively identify and treat mild-to-moderate patients with high burden. In particular, the foot was a significant contributor to the burden.

Abstract
Objective In this cross-sectional study, we aimed to evaluate the factors associated with psoriasis symptom worsening and impaired quality of life (QoL) in individuals with psoriasis during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. Methods During the second COVID-19 national lockdown (January-April 2021) in Lithuania, individuals diagnosed with psoriasis were invited to fill in an anonymous online survey including sociodemographic and life-style factors, psoriasis-related clinical symptoms, the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) and the Patients' Health Questionnaire (PHQ). Results A total of 297 respondents completed the survey. The majority of them (52.5%) reported worsened clinical symptoms of psoriasis during the COVID-19 lockdown period. In total, 43.1% of responders reported significant depressive symptoms (PHQ-9 ≥ 10) and 23.6% reported impaired disease-related QoL (DLQI > 10). The strongest predictor of psoriasis symptoms worsening was the need for changes in psoriasis treatment, with an odds ratio (OR) of 2.73 (95% CI 1.37-5.44, p = 0.004) and decreased income (OR = 2.33, 95% CI 1.30-4.17, p = 0.004). The strongest predictor of impaired QoL was male sex (OR = 3.35, 95% CI 1.70-6.59, p < 0.001). Contribution of specific depressive symptoms was evident for both models. Conclusion Worsening of psoriasis symptoms during the COVID-19 lockdown was associated with decreased income, psoriasis treatment changes and depression symptoms. Impaired QoL was associated with male sex, symptom worsening and depression. Specific depression symptoms may have contributed to more symptom worsening and impaired QoL than the depressive symptomatology as a whole.

Abstract
Psoriasis (PSO) and Atopic dermatitis (AD) are common inflammatory skin diseases that affect people of all ages globally. They negatively impact the quality of life (QoL) of patients in health-related aspects such as physical, psychological and mental functioning. Here, we conducted a review of studies relating to candidate biomarkers and indicators associated with QoL impairment in PSO and AD. Data research was performed using PUBMED and SCOPUS databases from inception to September 2022. Most of the included studies reported genomic or proteomic biomarkers associated with disease activity and QoL outcomes. Sociodemographic, clinical and therapeutic factors have also been implicated in deterioration of life quality in these patients. The inclusion of clinical characteristics, QoL impairment and co-diagnosis should be considered in drug development programs, since processing biomarkers based on an increased number of features in addition to drug class and disease will intensify the value of the biomarker itself, thereby maximizing the future clinical utility as a stratification tool.

Abstract
Psoriasis is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease of the interleukin (IL)-23/IL-17 axis. The severity of psoriasis has been reported as higher in men than in women. The immunoregulatory role of female sex hormones has been proposed to be one of the factors responsible for sex differences. Among female sex hormones, estrogens have been suggested to be significantly involved in the development of psoriasis by various epidemiological and in vitro studies. For example, the severity of psoriasis is inversely correlated with serum estrogen levels. In vitro, estrogens suppress the production of psoriasis-related cytokines such as IL-1β and IL-23 from neutrophils and dendritic cells, respectively. Furthermore, a recent study using a mouse psoriasis model indicated the inhibitory role of estrogens in psoriatic dermatitis by suppressing IL-1β production from neutrophils and macrophages. Understanding the role and molecular mechanisms of female sex hormones in psoriasis may lead to better control of the disease.
