Abstract
OBJECTIVE The COVID-19 pandemic prompted a significant shift to delivering early psychosis services using telehealth. Little is known about the experience of using telehealth in early psychosis services. This quality improvement qualitative project investigated the experiences of program participants and family members with telehealth services in OnTrackNY, an early intervention program for psychosis in New York State during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS The project team conducted individual interviews and focus groups. Data analyses used a matrix approach. RESULTS Nineteen OnTrackNY program participants and nine family members participated in five focus groups and nine individual interviews. Data were organized into five themes (a) accessibility: most individuals had a device and internet access and challenges were related to connectivity, such as image freezing and sound breaking; (b) convenience/flexibility: benefits included the reduced commute and costs; (c) levels of comfort/privacy with telehealth: program participants felt less judged and less anxiety leading up to in-person appointments while also expressing privacy concerns; (d) sense of connectedness: in-person social connections were deemed important and not replaceable by telehealth; and (e) suggestions: program participants expressed a preference for in-person group activities and suggested hybrid options, highlighting the importance of in-person visits to establish rapport at the beginning of treatment before transitioning to telehealth. CONCLUSIONS Telehealth services were generally well accepted. Suggestions for future service delivery include offering a combination of telehealth and in-person services based on program participants' preferences and prioritizing in-person services during the early phase of treatment.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Proximity to mental health services is a predictor of timely access to services. The present study sought to investigate whether travel time was associated with engagement in coordinated specialty care (CSC) for early psychosis, with specific attention to whether the interaction of travel time by race and ethnicity had differential impact. DATA SOURCE/STUDY SETTING Data collected between 2019 and 2022 as part of the New Journeys evaluation, the CSC model in Washington State. STUDY DESIGN This cross-sectional study included a sample of 225 service users with first episode psychosis (FEP) who had received services from New Journeys. DATA COLLECTION Service users' addresses, and the physical location of CSC were geocoded. Spatial proximity was calculated as travel time in minutes. Scheduled appointments, attendance and program status were captured monthly by clinicians as part of the New Journeys measurement battery. PRINCIPAL FINDINGS Proximity was significantly associated with the number of appointments scheduled and attended, and program status (graduation/completion and disengagement). Among Hispanic service users with spatial proximity further away from CSC (longer commutes) was associated with a lower likelihood of graduating/completing CSC compared to non-Hispanic service users (p = .04). Non-white services users had a higher risk of disengagement from CSC compared to white service users (p = .03); additionally, the effects of spatial proximity on disengagement were amplified for non-White service users (p = .03). CONCLUSIONS Findings suggest that proximity is associated with program engagement and partially explains potential differences in program status among ethnoracial group.

Abstract
AIMS For over 30 years, combined research and treatment settings in the US have been critical to conceptualizing care for first-episode psychosis (FEP). Here we describe an early example of such a context, the Services for the Treatment of Early Psychosis (STEP) clinic, which is affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh. METHODS We describe STEP's historical roots and establishment in the early 1990s; STEP's research and treatment contributions, alongside its growth and ongoing leadership. RESULTS Research-based clinics, like STEP, preceded and helped pave the way for the Recovery After an Initial Schizophrenia Episode project in the US and the ensuing Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) approach, now widely adopted in the US. Early clinic-based research at STEP helped establish protocols for psychopharmacology, the relevance of effective early treatment, including psychosocial approaches, and highlighted disparities in treatment outcomes across race/ethnicity. Multidisciplinary collaboration and dialogue with consumers contributed to early treatment, combining psychosocial and pharmacological approaches. STEP adopted CSC and is situated within a bi-state Learning Health System. STEP has retained a relatively unique 5-year treatment model and exists within continuum of care ideally suited to studying psychotic illness and treatment outcomes. CONCLUSIONS STEP remains the largest academic FEP clinic in Pennsylvania. Academic FEP clinics like STEP will have a critical role within Learning Health Systems nationally to model participatory approaches, sustain early intervention treatment quality and ongoing treatment developments.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although physical activity (PA) is beneficial to young people with early psychosis (YEP) to improve physical health and psychiatric symptoms, few YEP initiate and maintain PA. The sports group interventions offered in early psychosis services had to be suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Telehealth has shown promising results in different fields of health services including for patients with mental health disorders. METHODS Descriptive retrospective study aiming to determine the feasibility and acceptability of a telekinesiology intervention among YEP and to describe its multicenter implementation. The PA sessions were delivered to YEP by a kinesiologist and peer support workers. Feasibility was measured by the number of programs approached which referred participants, and the proportion of referred YEP who participated to at least one PA session. Acceptability was measured by the proportion of participants who attended more than one PA session, the number of sessions attended per participant and by surveys on patient satisfaction. RESULTS Of the 35 clinics approached, 150 YEP (of 214 referred) from 13 clinics participated to at least one of the 204 telekinesiology sessions (offered 2-3 times/week from May 2020 to May 2022) The mean number per participant was 5.5 sessions. 106 YEP engaged in more than one session (mean of 7.3 sessions per persistent participant). The mean number of participants per session was 4 (1-12). 99 % of the survey respondents were very satisfied/or satisfied with the sessions. CONCLUSION Telekinesiology appears to be an acceptable and feasible option to be implemented simultaneously in multiple early intervention services.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To examine, in depth, the perspectives of facilitators of a videoconference-delivered group Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) intervention for perinatal women with moderate-severe mood and/or anxiety disorders. DESIGN Qualitative study. METHODS Thematic analysis was used to analyse semi-structured interviews with seven facilitators and post-session reflections with six facilitators. RESULTS Four themes were generated. First, there are barriers to accessing psychological therapies during the perinatal period and improvements are required. Second, COVID-19 has accelerated the provision of remote therapies, including videoconference-delivered group therapy, enabling a continuity of service, and facilitating diversification of treatment access and choice. Third, there are benefits of videoconference-delivered group ACT in the perinatal period, with reservations. Attending a group via videoconference is perceived to be less exposing, and offers normalisation, social support, empowerment, and flexibility. Facilitators also shared reservations including whether service users would prioritise videoconference-delivered group therapy, concerns about limited non-verbal cues and the therapeutic alliance, reporting a lack of an evidence base, and technology challenges when working online. Finally, facilitators offered recommendations for videoconference-delivered group therapy best practice in the perinatal period, including the provision of equipment and data, contracts for attendance and suggestions to maximise engagement and group cohesion. CONCLUSIONS This study raises important considerations regarding the use of videoconference-delivered group ACT in the perinatal context. There are opportunities afforded by videoconference-delivered group therapies, which is important and timely given the increased drive towards improving access to perinatal services and psychological therapies, and the need for 'COVID-proof' therapies. Recommendations for best practice are offered.

Abstract
PURPOSE Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for psychosis (ACTp) is a contextual behavioural intervention that promotes psychological flexibility by fostering active acceptance, cognitive defusion, values construction and committed action to enhance well-being and recovery. Multiple studies have shown that ACTp is acceptable and efficacious, but questions remain as to its distinction from similar approaches and the conditions under which it would be implemented most effectively. METHODS We present the current evidence for processes and outcomes of ACTp and summarise the qualitative findings of experiences of service users in ACT programmes. We compare ACTp with other cognitive behavioural therapies and mindfulness-informed interventions for psychosis. RESULTS Acceptance and commitment therapy for psychosis is promising as a pragmatic, process-driven intervention model. Further efforts are needed to investigate psychological flexibility in the context of psychosis with observational, experimental and intervention studies that will inform model scope and treatment refinement. Additionally, implementation research is the necessary next step, including how support persons can be trained in ACTp. Lower intensity and technology-assisted approaches have the potential to reduce barriers to accessing ACTp and extend impact. CONCLUSIONS Over the last 20 years, ACTp has demonstrated meaningful effects in individual and group formats in a range of settings, targeting outcomes such as rehospitalisation, depression, psychotic symptom distress and impact. Future work should focus on how best to integrate ACTp with other current evidence-based interventions for psychosis.

Abstract
Introduction The COVID-19 pandemic prompted healthcare professionals to implement service delivery adaptations to remain in compliance with safety regulations. Though many adaptations in service delivery were reported throughout the literature, a wide variety of terminology and definitions were used. Methods To address this, we conducted a PRISMA review to identify service delivery adaptations across behavioral healthcare services in the United States from March 2020 to May 2022 and to identify variations in terminology used to describe these adaptations. We identified 445 initial articles for our review across eight databases using predetermined keywords. Using a two-round screening process, authors used a team approach to identify the most appropriate articles for this review. Results Our results suggested that a total of 14 different terms were used to describe service modality changes, with the most frequent term being telehealth (63%). Each term found in our review and the frequency of use across identified articles is described in detail. Discussion Implications of this review such as understanding modality changes during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond are discussed. Our findings illustrate the importance of standardizing terminology to enhance communication and understanding among professionals.

Abstract
In recent times, technology has increasingly become a central force in shaping the landscape of mental health care. The integration of various technological advancements, such as teletherapy, virtual care platforms, mental health apps, and wearable devices, holds great promise in improving access to mental health services and enhancing overall care. Technology's impact on mental health care is multi-faceted. Teletherapy and virtual care have brought about a revolution in service delivery, eliminating geographical barriers and offering individuals convenient and flexible access to therapy. Mobile mental health apps empower users to monitor their emotional well-being, practice mindfulness, and access self-help resources on the move. Furthermore, wearable devices equipped with biometric data can provide valuable insights into stress levels and sleep patterns, potentially serving as valuable indicators of mental health status. However, integrating technology into mental health care comes with several challenges and ethical considerations. Bridging the digital divide is a concern, as not everyone has equal access to technology or the necessary digital literacy. Ensuring privacy and data security is crucial to safeguard sensitive client information. The rapid proliferation of mental health apps calls for careful assessment and regulation to promote evidence-based practices and ensure the delivery of quality interventions. Looking ahead, it is vital to consider future implications and adopt relevant recommendations to fully harness technology's potential in mental health care. Continuous research is essential to evaluate the efficacy and safety of digital interventions, fostering collaboration between researchers, mental health professionals, and technology developers. Proper training on ethical technology utilization is necessary for mental health practitioners to maintain therapeutic boundaries while leveraging technological advancements responsibly.

Abstract
The outbreak of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in 2020 caused a rapid worsening of global mental health. Patients with severe mental disorders, including schizophrenia, are at higher risk of being infected. The neuroinvasive potential of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been confirmed. The aim of this article was to present a narrative and comprehensive review of multidimensional associations between schizophrenia and COVID-19 with special emphasis on common biological pathways. Online searches were performed in the PubMed database and covered the publication period until September 17, 2022. Search terms included "psychosis", "schizophrenia", "inflammation" and "COVID-19". Viewed as a neuroinflammatory state, schizophrenia shares several neurobiological mechanisms with the COVID-19. Environmental stress, common comorbidities of schizophrenia and adverse effects of antipsychotic treatment are associated with the higher severity and mortality of the COVID-19. Additionally, more frequent relapses of psychosis have been observed, and might be related to lower treatment adherence. In the context of clinical manifestation, higher level of negative symptoms has been identified among patients with schizophrenia during the pandemic. Improvements in mental health care policy and treatment adjustment are necessary to protect people with schizophrenia who are the population that is particularly vulnerable to the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Future research will show if prenatal infection with the SARS-CoV-2 increases a risk of psychosis.

Abstract
This study examined provider and client perspectives of tele-mental health (TMH) in early psychosis care during the COVID-19 pandemic. To achieve this goal, thirty-three mental health providers and 31 clients from Pennsylvania Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) programs completed web-based surveys assessing TMH usage, experiences, and perceptions between May and September 2020. Three additional TMH-related questions were asked two years later of PA CSC Program Directors between Feb and March 2022. Descriptive statistics characterized responses. Open-ended items were coded and grouped into themes for qualitative synthesis. As early as mid-2020, participants reported extensive use of TMH technologies, including telephone and video visits. Although most providers and clients preferred in-person care to TMH, most clients still found TMH to be comparable to or better than in-person care; 94% of clients indicated interest in future TMH services. Providers also noted more successes than challenges with TMH. Nine themes emerged regarding provider-perceived client characteristics that could benefit from TMH and were grouped into two categories: client-level (access to technology, comfort with technology, transportation, young age, symptom severity, functioning level, motivation for treatment adherence) and interpersonal-level (external support systems and engagement with program prior to the pandemic) characteristics. Two years later, program directors reported continued perceived advantages of TMH in CSCs, although some barriers persisted. Despite the unexpected shift to TMH in early psychosis programs during the COVID-19 pandemic, findings indicated a relatively positive transition to TMH and perceived promise of TMH as a sustained part of routine care.

Abstract
BACKGROUND After the rapid spread of the novel SARS-CoV-2, the short-term and long-term mental health impacts of the pandemic on the public, in particular on susceptible individuals, have been reported worldwide. Although digital mental health services expand accessibility while removing many barriers to in-person therapy, their usability, feasibility, acceptability, and efficacy require continued monitoring during the initial phase of the pandemic and its aftermath. OBJECTIVE In this study, we aimed to understand what mental health services are offered, whether they are practical or acceptable, and to what extent digital mental health services are effective in response to the COVID-19 pandemic across high-income and low- and middle-income countries. METHODS This study followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines and the PRISMA Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) guideline. We implemented searches in PubMed (MEDLINE), Embase, PsycINFO, and Cochrane databases for studies that were published between December 2019 and November 2021 and that involved the use of digital mental health services. Two review authors screened, assessed, and extracted studies independently. The protocol was registered on the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews. RESULTS This review identified 7506 articles through database searching. In total, 65 (0.9%) studies from 18 countries with 67,884 participants were eligible for the scoping review. Of the 65 studies, 16 (24.6%) were included in the meta-analysis. A total of 15 (23.1%) studies measured the usability; 31 (47.7%) studies evaluated the feasibility; 29 (44.6%) studies assessed the acceptability; and 51 (78.5%) studies assessed the efficacy. Web-based programs (21/65, 32.3%), videoconferencing platforms (16/65, 24.6%), smartphone apps (14/65, 21.5%), and SMS text messaging (5/65, 7.7%) were the main techniques. Psychotherapy (44/65, 67.7%) followed by psychoeducation (6/65, 9.2%) and psychological support (5/65, 7.7%) were commonly used. The results of the meta-analysis showed that digital mental health interventions were associated with a small reduction in depressive symptoms (standardized mean difference=-0.49; 95% CI -0.74 to -0.24; P<.001) and a moderate reduction in anxiety symptoms (standardized mean difference=-0.66; 95% CI -1.23 to -1.0; P=.02) significantly. CONCLUSIONS The findings suggest that digital mental health interventions may be practical and helpful for the general population, at-risk individuals, and patients with preexisting mental disorders across high-income and middle-income countries. An expanded research agenda is needed to apply different strategies for addressing diverse psychological needs and develop integrated mental health services in the post-COVID-19 era. Abstract
AIMS The COVID-19 pandemic forced the rapid move of mental health services to being delivered online. This included the delivery of a psychosocial recovery program (PRP) delivered in youth mental health services in Melbourne, Australia which consists of groups that address functional recovery. At the time, there was limited evidence about how this switch in service provision would be received by service users or what impact the pandemic was having on their mental health. METHODS Young people engaged with the PRP between March and May 2020 were sent a link to complete an online survey that was co-developed by young people and clinicians. Attendance data at groups were extracted as a proximal measure of feasibility and acceptability. RESULTS A total of 44 young people undertook the survey with the domains of wellbeing most impacted by lockdown being work/study, motivation and social connection. Groups provided online were generally well attended during lockdown, particularly those that had a focus on therapeutic content. Young people indicated little preference for continuing to attend groups run purely online when restrictions eased, with many expressing a preference for these to be offered face-to-face or in a combined format. CONCLUSIONS These findings suggest that implementation of online psychosocial groups during periods of lockdown is both feasible and acceptable. Whilst young people found accessing groups online to be of benefit at the time, they felt that continued substitution of face-to-face groups would not necessarily be preferable and clinical services should consider these preferences in their long-term service delivery.

Abstract
AIM To explore the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic first wave in Quebec, Canada on practices in early intervention services (EIS) for first-episode psychosis, including reorganization of clinical and administrative practices and teleconsultation use. METHODS Adopting a cross-sectional descriptive study design, a 41 questions online survey was sent to the team leaders of all the 33 Quebec EIS, of which 100% responded. Data were collected from 18 May to 4 June 2020 and analysed using descriptive statistics and content analysis. Programmes were categorized as urban/non-urban and results were compared between these. RESULTS All 33 existing Quebec EIS (16 urban and 17 non-urban) completed the survey. Among them, 85% did not experience redeployment of EIS team staff and 58% reported stable frequency of patient interactions, either in-person or through telemedicine. During the studied period, 64% of programmes reported that all professionals used teleconsultation at least occasionally. However, 73% of programmes, mostly in non-urban areas, reported some limitations regarding clinicians' degree of ease with teleconferencing platforms and half of EIS could not access technical support to use them. The majority of EIS (94%) expressed interest to participate in a training program about the use of technologies for teleconsultations. Many smaller clinics reported interest in offering multiregional/multiclinics group teletherapy, therefore merging their pool of patients and clinical staff workforce. CONCLUSIONS Further studies are warranted to improve access to and use of technology-mediated treatment, which seems to be a promising alternative to provide high-quality mental healthcare during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

Abstract
This study investigates the effects of a solution-oriented and approach-based psychoeducation programme, initiated in December 2019 and conducted online during the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, on children’s emotional resilience and problem-solving skills. In the world that was closed with the pandemic, children were kept away from the social support system of teachers and friends. Pandemic isolated the children. The negative experiences associated with COVID-19 have placed both traditional approaches and important online learning and support applications on the agenda, since both can help to solve the problems we face. Educators and experts have provided psychological support services, questioning the methods used to reach people during the pandemic and rediscovering alternative ways of connecting with individuals through online media. The online framework of this study emerged in response to the needs caused by the pandemic. The study is designed using a real experimental pattern and is based on a pretest-posttest, experimental/control-group model. The Social Support Evaluation Scale for Children and Teenagers was used to select the participants. In total, 18 participants were equally assigned to research groups (experiment n = 9, control n = 9). The psychoeducation programme consisted of six sessions, each lasting 50–60 min on average. Research carried out online during the pandemic shows that this psychoeducation programme is effective in strengthening students’ problem-solving and emotional resilience skills. These findings are discussed within the framework of the literature, followed by recommendations.

Abstract
AIMS Because of the COVID-19 lockdown, an internet-based adaption of a nurse-led cognitive behavioural group therapy (CGBT) was provided for perpetrators of domestic violence. The aim of this study was to describe the development of the therapy, examine the initial feasibility and impact on patient satisfaction of the programme and evaluate the associated patient-reported experiences. DESIGN Programme development as well as testing its feasibility and acceptability using cross-sectional survey data. METHODS Anonymous data were collected at a university hospital in Norway between October and December 2021. Feasibility was examined by comparing the numbers of patients who agreed to participate, chose not to participate or dropped out during the intervention. There was a self-reporting scale that evaluated patient satisfaction, and the participants were invited to make suggestions for improvement of the intervention. The results of the study are reported in accordance with the STROBE checklist. RESULTS The videoconference-delivered CGBT was feasible. Two of the 67 patients refused to attend therapy delivered in a remote manner (3.0%), and four patients (6.0%) were classified as non-completers. Overall, patients were satisfied with the therapy. CONCLUSIONS This study described a promising nurse-led internet-based intervention for individuals who were domestically violent and had voluntarily sought healthcare help. The participants' satisfaction with the intervention indicates its acceptability and feasibility. However, research on internet-based cognitive behaviour therapy is still in its infancy. These results may guide the future development of internet-based cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for individuals who perpetrate domestic violence. Further research is needed on the pros and cons of this mode of service delivery. IMPACT This study addressed the challenges of providing treatment for domestic violence during the COVID-19 pandemic by examining videoconference-delivered CBT for individuals who perpetrate domestic violence.

Abstract
Severe cognitive impairments and cognitive distortions are core to schizophrenia-spectrum disorders (SSDs) and are associated with deteriorated social functioning. Despite well-established efficacy of group psychosocial therapies targeting cognitive health in SSDs, dissemination of these programs remains limited. Remote delivery offers a promising strategy for increasing the programs' accessibility. Yet, little research has evaluated group therapies for cognitive health delivered in this way. Thus, we aimed to assess, from participants' and therapists' perspectives, the feasibility, acceptability, as well as levels and process of engagement in a videoconference delivery of group psychosocial therapies for SSD patients' cognitive health. Participants, outpatients, attended Action Based Cognitive Remediation or Metacognitive Training, both adapted for videoconference. Then, participants and therapists completed post-therapy questionnaires. Of the 28 participants attending at least one session, 75% completed more than half of sessions and seven dropped out. Technology did not appear to significantly hinder participation in the programs. All completing participants reported a positive experience with therapy, 67% were not bothered by the distance from the therapist, and 77% trusted that the information shared was kept confidential. Therapist-rated levels of attention M = 7.5/9 (SD = 1.04), participation M = 6.91/9 (SD = 1.32), and social interactions M = 5.31/9 (SD = 1.96) were satisfactory. Nonetheless, participants indicated that they would have appreciated more social interactions with group members. These positive results validate the earliest stage in the implementation process for remote group therapies targeting cognitive health in SSDs. Remote delivery promises to improve access to therapies targeting cognitive health and, ultimately, facilitate functional recovery for SSD patients.

Abstract
Introduction: Patient participation and clinical outcomes of a precoronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) office-based transdiagnostic psychiatric intensive outpatient program (IOP) were compared with those of telehealth IOP during COVID-19. Materials and Methods: Weeks of enrollment, Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) assessments, and sociodemographic and clinical factors (including group track and diagnosis) were collected during pre-COVID-19 (n = 191) and during COVID-19 (n = 200). Continuous and categorical measures of GAD-7 and PHQ-9 were analyzed; potential sociodemographic and clinical covariates to scores were also explored. Results: There were no statistically significant differences in participation between time periods. Associations were observed between PHQ-9/GAD-7 score improvement and number of assessments. Significant score reductions occurred in both periods, and differences in change scores were not significant. Sociodemographic and clinical factors were not significantly different between time periods. Patients with commercial insurance had significantly higher improvement in both mean and categorical PHQ-9 scores (t = 2.77, p = 0.006; χ2 = 10.47, df = 1, p = 0.001) and GAD-7 scores (t = 2.29, p = 0.023; χ2 = 8.58, df = 1, p = 0.003) than those with public insurance. Patients with anxiety disorders had significantly greater improvements (F = 4.49, p = 0.004; χ2 = 9.15, df = 3, p = 0.027) in GAD-7 during COVID-19. Discussion: Significant improvements in PHQ-9/GAD-7 scores and measures of participation were not significantly different between telehealth and office-based IOP, nor were they greatly influenced by clinical or sociodemographic factors. Further study is needed of possible care disparities for publicly insured patients. Conclusion: Despite some limitations, telehealth IOP appears to be a clinically appropriate option for a diverse sociodemographic and diagnostically heterogeneous psychiatric population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Early in 2020, mental health services had to rapidly shift from face-to-face models of care to delivering the majority of treatments remotely (by video or phone call or occasionally messaging) due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This resulted in several challenges for staff and patients, but also in benefits such as convenience or increased access for people with impaired mobility or in rural areas. There is a need to understand the extent and impacts of telemental health implementation, and barriers and facilitators to its effective and acceptable use. This is relevant both to future emergency adoption of telemental health and to debates on its future use in routine mental health care. OBJECTIVE To investigate the adoption and impacts of telemental health approaches during the COVID-19 pandemic, and facilitators and barriers to optimal implementation. METHODS Four databases (PubMed, PsycINFO, CINAHL, and Web of Science) were searched for primary research relating to remote working, mental health care, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Preprint servers were also searched. Results of studies were synthesized using framework synthesis. RESULTS A total of 77 papers met our inclusion criteria. In most studies, the majority of contacts could be transferred to a remote form during the pandemic, and good acceptability to service users and clinicians tended to be reported, at least where the alternative to remote contacts was interrupting care. However, a range of impediments to dealing optimal care by this means were also identified. CONCLUSIONS Implementation of telemental health allowed some continuing support to the majority of service users during the COVID-19 pandemic and has value in an emergency situation. However, not all service users can be reached by this means, and better evidence is now needed on long-term impacts on therapeutic relationships and quality of care, and on impacts on groups at risk of digital exclusion and how to mitigate these. Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic is likely to affect people who have had previous experiences of psychosis - either positively or negatively. A research gap exists in looking at qualitative experiences of the pandemic. In the present study, we address the research gap in those who self-identified as having psychosis via Reddit discussion forum posts, collecting data from a popular online community. Sixty-five posts were analysed using inductive thematic analysis. Five overarching themes were identifie; declining mental health, changed psychosis experiences, personal coping experiences, social connectedness and disconnectedness, and COVID-19 as a metaphor. The data show that there are varied experiences associated with the pandemic. People who have experiences of psychosis do not only have vulnerabilities but may also perceive themselves as having strengths that allow them to cope better.
