Abstract
BACKGROUND Sleep disturbance in MS is common and can significantly impair overall quality of life. The ketogenic diet (KD) associates with improved sleep quality in people living with epilepsy and may have similar benefits when used within MS; however, the impact of a KD on sleep in this population remains poorly defined. METHODS Forty-five patients with relapsing MS enrolled into a 6-month KD intervention trial and completed self-reported assessments of sleep quality and sleep disorder symptoms prior to diet initiation and while on diet, using the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) and Sleep Disorders Symptom Checklist-25 (SDS). Participants who did not complete sleep assessments at baseline and 6-months were excluded from analysis. In addition to sleep metrics, data collection included anthropometrics and MS-related fatigue scores. RESULTS Thirty-nine of 45 (87 %) participants completed the required sleep assessments. There was a mean reduction in ESS score of 1.90 (95 % CI [-2.85, -0.94], p < 0.001). Total SDS score decreased at 6-months on KD (-4.4, 95 % CI [-7.1, -1.7], p = 0.002), with improvements noted in insomnia (-1.55, 95 % CI [-2.66, -0.43], p = 0.008), obstructive sleep apnea (-0.91, 95 % CI [-1.57, -0.25], p = 0.008), and restless leg syndrome screening scores (-1.00, 95 % CI [-1.95, -0.051], p = 0.04). Sleep duration was unchanged on KD. CONCLUSION KD associates with improvements in daytime sleepiness, independent of sleep duration, and common comorbid sleep disorders in people living with relapsing MS. The findings herein support the benefits of KD on sleep quality and highlight the potential role of dietary therapeutics for sleep disorders in neurological disease. Abstract
BACKGROUND Leptin, an adipokine suspected to play a role in coronary artery disease (CAD), may also be associated with deteriorated mental health. We investigated the prospective impact of recurrent depressed mood (RDM) on heightened plasma leptin levels in CAD patients. METHODS Derived from the randomized SPIRR-CAD trial, plasma leptin were measured by the Human Leptin DuoSet ELISA at baseline in 539 patients (including 115 (21.3 %) women and 424 (78.7 %) men) and in 373 participants after 18-months follow up (T3). RDM was based on the clinical course from baseline to follow-up assessed by the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD). Multivariate binary logistic regression models identified predictors for heightened leptin at T3. RESULTS At baseline, highest leptin level (3rd tertile) was associated with type 2 diabetes (p = 0.009), heart failure symptoms (NYHA III) (p < 0.001), female sex and BMI ≥30 (p < 0.001) but not with age and depression. At study endpoint (T3), RDM was associated with a substantially increased risk of experiencing the highest plasma leptin level (OR 2.92 (95 % CI 1.27-6.75)) followed by increased NT-proBNP (the most prominent indicator of CHF) with an OR of 2.73 (1.22-6.11) - both after adjustment for concurrent factors including weight gain (diff BMI T3-T1) over the study period - the latter accounting for an OR of 1.41 (1.17-1.70). LIMITATIONS Findings are limited to people of Caucasian ancestry which prevents being generalized to other ethnicities. Although relying upon a prospective design, reverse causality cannot be excluded but is unlikely. CONCLUSIONS In CAD patients, RDM is a significant predictor of heightened leptin -a finding opening room for a new pathway of the psychobiological underpinning of depression on CAD risk.

Abstract
The incidence of early puberty in children has been increasing. It has been suspected that both genetic and various environmental factors such as nutrition and hormonal exposure could influence the mechanisms underlying the earlier onset of puberty. Interestingly, several previous studies have reported a strong connection between sleep and puberty. Specifically, it was discovered that luteinizing hormone (LH), a potential marker for the onset of puberty, was increased during the deep sleep period. Furthermore, a high prevalence of early puberty was observed in patients with sleep disorders, especially in those experiencing narcolepsy. In this review article, findings related to the association between sleep disturbance and early puberty have been comprehensively summarized. Any contrary findings are also included and discussed. Advances in the knowledge surrounding sleep disturbance have led to a greater understanding of a correlation between early puberty and sleep disorder and provide alternative therapeutic options for the treatment of central precocious puberty in the future.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to examine the complex associations between Internet addiction, sleep disturbances, and disordered eating behaviors. METHODS This cross-sectional study included 646 students from 17 high schools in Edirne, Türkiye between December 2023 and May 2024. A face-to-face questionnaire was administered to assess demographic characteristics, Internet addiction (YIAT), sleep quality (PSQI), and eating behavior (TFEQ-R21). RESULTS In total, 644 students completed the study. The prevalence of Internet addiction among adolescents was 16.3%, with a similar prevalence among male and female adolescents. The prevalence of poor sleep quality among adolescents was 6.4%, and this trend was more pronounced in male adolescents, with an incidence of 13.0%. A weak positive correlation was observed between Internet addiction and disordered eating behavior. Additionally, a moderate positive correlation was observed between poor sleep quality and disordered eating behavior. Gender, maternal education level, Internet addiction, and poor sleep quality were significant predictors of eating disorders in adolescents. CONCLUSION The findings of our study are of significant value in providing insights into the development of programs designed to prevent undesired eating behaviors.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Sleep and stress interact bidirectionally by acting on brain circuits that affect metabolism. Sleep and its alterations have impact on blood leptin levels, metabolic hormone that regulates appetite. Brain expresses the receptors for the peptide hormone leptin produced from adipocytes. The hypothalamic orexin neurons are low during sleep and active when awake, influenced by a complex interaction with leptin. Thymoquinone was found to be the major bioactive component of Nigella sativa. The aim of this study was to study the role of thymoquinone on sleep restriction and its mitigating effect on leptin-mediated signaling pathway in rat brain. METHODS AND RESULTS 30 adult male Wistar rats were divided into 5 groups with 6 animals in each group: Control; Thymoquinone (TQ); Corn oil; Chronic Sleep restriction (CSR); and CSR + TQ. After 30 days, behavioral analysis, antioxidant, lipid profile, glucose level, liver and kidney function test, neurotransmitters, neuropeptides, and mRNA expression in in vivo studies were also assessed and pharmacokinetic and docking were done for thymoquinone. Thymoquinone has also shown good binding affinity to the target proteins. CSR has induced oxidative stress in the discrete brain regions and plasma. Current study has shown many evidences that sleep restriction has altered the neurobehavioral, antioxidant status, lipid profile, neurotransmitters, neuropeptide levels, and feeding behavior which damage the Orexin-leptin system which regulates the sleep and feeding that leads to metabolic dysfunction. CONCLUSION The potentiality of Thymoquinone was revealed in in silico studies, and its action in in vivo studies has proved its effectiveness. The study concludes that Thymoquinone has exhibited its effect by diminishing the metabolic dysfunction by its neuroprotective, antioxidant, and hypolipidemic properties.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Long-term exposure to transportation noise is related to cardio-metabolic diseases, with more recent evidence also showing associations with diabetes mellitus (DM) incidence. This study aimed to evaluate the association between transportation noise and DM mortality within the Swiss National Cohort. METHODS During 15 years of follow-up (2001-2015; 4.14 million adults), over 72,000 DM deaths were accrued. Source-specific noise was calculated at residential locations, considering moving history. Multi-exposure, time-varying Cox regression was used to derive hazard ratios (HR, and 95%-confidence intervals). Models included road traffic, railway and aircraft noise, air pollution, and individual and area-level covariates including socio-economic position. Analyses included exposure-response modelling, effect modification, and a subset analysis around airports. The main findings were integrated into meta-analyses with published studies on mortality and incidence (separately and combined). RESULTS HRs were 1.06 (1.05, 1.07), 1.02 (1.01, 1.03) and 1.01 (0.99, 1.02) per 10 dB day evening-night level (Lden) road traffic, railway and aircraft noise, respectively (adjusted model, including NO2). Splines suggested a threshold for road traffic noise (~ 46 dB Lden, well below the 53 dB Lden WHO guideline level), but not railway noise. Substituting for PM2.5, or including deaths with type 1 DM hardly changed the associations. HRs were higher for males compared to females, and in younger compared to older adults. Focusing only on type 1 DM showed an independent association with road traffic noise. Meta-analysis was only possible for road traffic noise in relation to mortality (1.08 [0.99, 1.18] per 10 dB, n = 4), with the point estimate broadly similar to that for incidence (1.07 [1.05, 1.09] per 10 dB, n = 10). Combining incidence and mortality studies indicated positive associations for each source, strongest for road traffic noise (1.07 [1.05, 1.08], 1.02 [1.01, 1.03], and 1.02 [1.00, 1.03] per 10 dB road traffic [n = 14], railway [n = 5] and aircraft noise [n = 5], respectively). CONCLUSIONS This study provides new evidence that transportation noise is associated with diabetes mortality. With the growing evidence and large disease burden, DM should be viewed as an important outcome in the noise and health discussion.

Abstract
The topic of human circadian rhythms is not only attracting the attention of clinical researchers from various fields but also sparking a growing public interest. The circadian system comprises the central clock, located in the suprachiasmatic nucleus of the hypothalamus, and the peripheral clocks in various tissues that are interconnected; together they coordinate many daily activities, including sleep and wakefulness, physical activity, food intake, glucose sensitivity and cardiovascular functions. Disruption of circadian regulation seems to be associated with metabolic disorders (particularly impaired glucose tolerance) and cardiovascular disease. Previous clinical trials revealed that disturbance of the circadian system, specifically due to shift work, is associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus. This review is intended to provide clinicians who wish to implement knowledge of circadian disruption in diagnosis and strategies to avoid cardio-metabolic disease with a general overview of this topic.

Abstract
The exponential increase in diabetes mellitus (DM) poses serious public health concerns. In this review, we focus on the role of leptin in type 2 DM. The peripheral actions of leptin consist of upregulating proinflammatory cytokines which play an important role in the pathogenesis of type 2 DM and insulin resistance. Moreover, leptin is known to inhibit insulin secretion and plays a significant role in insulin resistance in obesity and type 2 DM. A literature search was conducted on Medline, Cochrane, Embase, and Google Scholar for relevant articles published until December 2023. The following search strings and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH terms) were used: "Diabetes Mellitus," "Leptin," "NPY," and "Biomarker." This article aims to discuss the physiology of leptin in type 2 DM, its glucoregulatory actions, its relationship with appetite, the impact that various lifestyle modifications can have on leptin levels, and, finally, explore leptin as a potential target for various treatment strategies.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Adequate sleep is closely related to people's health. However, with increasing age, the quality of sleep worsens. At the same time, among elderly individuals, frailty is also a disturbing factor, which makes elderly individuals more vulnerable to negative factors. To explore the relationship between the two, we conducted this study. METHODS In this paper, independent genetic variations related to insomnia, sleep duration and daytime sleepiness were selected as IVs, and related genetic tools were used to search published genome-wide association studies for a two-sample Mendelian randomization (TSMR) analysis. The inverse-variance weighted (IVW) method was used as the main Mendelian randomization analysis method. Cochran's Q test was used to test heterogeneity, MR‒Egger was used to test horizontal pleiotropy, and the MR-PRESSO test was used to remove outliers. RESULTS According to our research, insomnia (OR = 1.10, 95% CI 1.03-1.17, P = 2.59e-97), long sleep duration (OR = 0.66, 95% CI 0.37-1.17, P = 0.02), short sleep duration (OR = 1.30, 95% CI 1.22-1.38, P = 2.23e-17) and daytime sleepiness (OR = 1.49, 95% CI 1.25-1.77, P = 0.96e-4) had a bidirectional causal relationship with frailty. CONCLUSIONS Our research showed that there is a causal relationship between sleep disturbances and frailty. This result was obtained by a TSMR analysis, which involves the use of genetic variation as an IV to determine causal relationships between exposure and outcome. Future TSMR studies should include a larger sample for analysis.

Abstract
Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is one of the most prevalent and detrimental complications of cancer. Emerging evidence suggests that obesity and insulin resistance are associated with CRF occurrence and severity in cancer patients and survivors. In this narrative review, we analyzed recent studies including both preclinical and clinical research on the relationship between obesity and/or insulin resistance and CRF. We also describe potential mechanisms for these relationships, though with the caveat that because the mechanisms underlying CRF are incompletely understood, the mechanisms mediating the association between obesity/insulin resistance and CRF are similarly incompletely delineated. The data suggest that, in addition to their effects to worsen CRF by directly promoting tumor growth and metastasis, obesity and insulin resistance may also contribute to CRF by inducing chronic inflammation, neuroendocrinological disturbance, and metabolic alterations. Furthermore, studies suggest that patients with obesity and insulin resistance experience more cancer-induced pain and are at more risk of emotional and behavioral disruptions correlated with CRF. However, other studies implied a potentially paradoxical impact of obesity and insulin resistance to reduce CRF symptoms. Despite the need for further investigation utilizing interventions to directly elucidate the mechanisms of cancer-related fatigue, current evidence demonstrates a correlation between obesity and/or insulin resistance and CRF, and suggests potential therapeutics for CRF by targeting obesity and/or obesity-related mediators.

Abstract
Adequate sleep is essential for the biological maintenance of physical energy. Lack of sleep can affect thinking, lead to emotional anxiety, reduce immunity, and interfere with endocrine and metabolic processes, leading to disease. Previous studies have focused on long-term sleep deprivation and the risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. However, systematic metabolomics analyses of blood, heart, liver, spleen, kidney, brown adipose tissue, and fecal granules have not been performed. This study aims to systematically assess the metabolic changes in the target organs caused by sleep deprivation in vivo, to search for differential metabolites and the involved metabolic pathways, to further understand the impact of sleep deprivation on health, and to provide strong evidence for the need for early intervention.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), also known as chronic diseases that are long-lasting, are considered the major cause of death and disability worldwide, and the six pillars of lifestyle medicine (nutrition, exercise, toxic control, stress management, restorative sleep, and social connection) play an important role in a holistic management of their prevention and treatment. In addition, medical guidelines are the most accepted documents with recommendations to manage NCDs. OBJECTIVE The present study aims to analyze the lack of lifestyle pillars concerning the major Brazilian medical guidelines for NCDs and identify evidence in the literature that could justify their inclusion in the documents. METHOD Brazilian guidelines were selected according to the most relevant causes of death in Brazil, given by the Mortality Information System, published by the Brazilian Ministry of Health in 2019. Journals were screened in the PUBMED library according to the disease and non-mentioned pillars of lifestyle. RESULTS Relevant causes of deaths in Brazil are acute myocardial infarction (AMI), diabetes mellitus (DM), and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD). Six guidelines related to these NCDs were identified, and all address aspects of lifestyle, but only one, regarding cardiovascular prevention, highlights all six pillars. Despite this, a literature search involving over 50 articles showed that there is evidence that all the pillars can help control each of these NCDs. CONCLUSION Rarely are the six pillars of lifestyle contemplated in Brazilian guidelines for AMI, DM, and COPD. The literature review identified evidence of all lifestyle pillars to offer a holistic approach for the management and prevention of NCDs.

Abstract
Background Suboptimal health status (SHS) is a non-clinical or pre-disease state between optimal/ideal health and disease. While its etiology remains unclear, lifestyle is considered one of the most important risk factors. We aimed to examine the effects of lifestyles on SHS through a nationwide survey in China. Methods We conducted a cross-sectional survey in 148 cities across China between 20 June and 31 August 2022, on 30 505 participants from rural and urban communities gathered through stratified quota sampling. We measured SHS with the Short-Form Suboptimal Health Status Questionnaire (SHSQ-SF). We gathered information on participants' lifestyles (ie, smoking, alcohol consumption, breakfast habits, weekly food delivery frequency, intermittent fasting, sleep duration and physical activities) through face-to-face interview. We determined the relationship between lifestyle and SHS logistic regression analysis by based on odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results We included 22 897 participants (female: 13 056, male: 9841), 12 108 (52.88%) of whom reported exposure to SHS. After adjusting for demographic characteristics, individuals who currently smoked (OR = 1.165; 95% CI = 1.058-1.283) and those who drank alcohol (OR = 1.483; 95% CI = 1.377.1.596) were at a higher risk of SHS than those who have never done either. In a dose-response way, takeaway food consumption was associated with a higher risk of SHS, while increased frequency of breakfast and mild-intensity exercise conversely reduced said risk. Individuals with shorter sleep duration had a higher risk of SHS when compared to those who slept for more than seven hours per day. Conclusions We observed a relatively high prevalence of SHS across China, highlighting the importance of lifestyle in health promotion. Specifically, adopting healthy dietary habits, engaging in regular physical activity, and ensuring high-quality sleep are key in preventing SHS. Abstract
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVE childhood obesity and sleep disorders have a well-established cross-sectional association, but lifestyle interventions' effects on sleep quality remain under-researched. This study aimed to evaluate the sleep quality of 122 participants (7-16 years) with abdominal obesity after a 2-year necessary lifestyle intervention. PATIENTS/METHODS participants were assigned to either the intervention group (moderate hypocaloric Mediterranean Diet) or the usual care group (standard recommendations on a healthy diet). Sleep was objectively assessed using triaxial accelerometry, and sleep parameters analyzed included latency, efficiency, wake after sleep onset, total time in bed, total sleep time, number of awakenings, and awakening duration. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS the results showed that the intervention group significantly improved sleep latency at 12 and 24 months and improved sleep efficiency at 2 and 12 months, compared to the usual care group. Wake after sleep onset and the number of awakenings were significantly reduced at 24 months in the intervention group. Wake after sleep onset and leptin levels were positively associated in all participants. Total time in bed was inversely associated with triglycerides and metabolic score, and total sleep time was inversely associated with leptin, triglycerides, and metabolic score after the 2-month intervention. Triglyceride levels were inversely associated with total time in bed and total sleep time at one year, while the metabolic score was directly associated with wake after sleep onset and the number of awakenings and inversely associated with efficiency. In conclusion, the multidisciplinary intervention in children and adolescents with abdominal obesity reduced anthropometric parameters and improved sleep habits.

Abstract
Sleep-wake and fasting-feeding are tightly coupled behavioral states that require coordination between several brain regions. The mammalian lateral hypothalamus (LH) is a functionally and anatomically complex brain region harboring heterogeneous cell populations that regulate sleep, feeding, and energy metabolism. Significant attempts were made to understand the cellular and circuit bases of LH actions. Rapid advancements in genetic and electrophysiological manipulation help to understand the role of discrete LH cell populations. The opposing action of LH orexin/hypocretin and melanin-concentrating hormone (MCH) neurons on metabolic sensing and sleep-wake regulation make them the candidate to explore in detail. This review surveys the molecular, genetic, and neuronal components of orexin and MCH signaling in the regulation of sleep and metabolism.

Abstract
Objective To examine the role of night shift work on the risk of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in adults suffered from earthquakes prenatally or as infants and to analyse the effect of stress on factors that influence MetS in this population. Methods We included 870 subjects from 2014 to 2015. All subjects work as miners for the Kailuan Mining Group and were born were living in Tangshan. Participants were classified into two groups on basis of their work schedules: day shift and night shift. They were further classified into the prenatal exposure group, the infancy exposure group, and the control group based on their age during the Tangshan earthquake. This study was conducted 38 years after the earthquake. Participants' general demographic data, smoking and drinking habits, as well as work schedules were collected. All participants' sleep status was assessed with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. The measurement of all subjects' waist circumference and blood pressure was made, and triglycerides, fasting blood glucose, high-density lipoproteins, and low-density lipoproteins were measured by collecting blood samples. The definition of MetS was made after the guidelines for preventing and controlling type 2 diabetes in China (2017 Edition). Results A total of 187 (21.5%) workers were determined to have MetS. The incidence of MetS was greatly higher in night shift workers who were exposed to an earthquake during infancy than in day shift workers (χ2 = 8.053, p = 0.005). A multivariate logistic regression analysis displayed male participants had a higher risk develop MetS than female participants (p = 0.042, OR = 0.368, 95% CI = 0.140, 0.965). Current smokers (p = 0.030, OR = 1.520, 95%CI = 1.042, 2.218) and participants who sleep fewer than 7 h per night (p = 0.015, OR = 1.638, 95%CI = 1.101, 2.437) had a higher risk of MetS. Prenatal earthquake stress was also a risk element for MetS (p = 0.012, OR = 1.644, 95%CI = 1.115, 2.423). Conclusion The risk of MetS is significantly higher in night shift workers exposed to earthquake stress during infancy than day shift workers. Earthquake exposure during pregnancy is an independent risk factor for MetS. Smoking and sleeping less than 7 h have a higher risk of MetS than the control group.

Abstract
Gut microbiota comprises the microbial communities inhabiting our gastrointestinal (GI) tracts. Accordingly, these complex communities play a fundamental role in many host processes and are closely implicated in human health and diseases. Sleep deprivation (SD) has become increasingly common in modern society, partly owing to the rising pressure of work and the diversification of entertainment. It is well documented that sleep loss is a significant cause of various adverse outcomes on human health including immune-related and metabolic diseases. Furthermore, accumulating evidence suggests that gut microbiota dysbiosis is associated with these SD-induced human diseases. In this review, we summarize the gut microbiota dysbiosis caused by SD and the succedent diseases ranging from the immune system and metabolic system to various organs and highlight the critical roles of gut microbiota in these diseases. The implications and possible strategies to alleviate SD-related human diseases are also provided.

Abstract
BACKGROUND: Sleep deprivation in individuals with diabetes mellitus type 2 is more prevalent than in ordinary people. At present, the adverse effects of diabetes type 2 people with sleep disorders and sleep deprivation on blood sugar control are irrefutable. Thorough assessments covering the whole structure should be of concern in health-care treatment. It is precipitated and delivered to the physical, mental health, and social environment, but no systematic review or minimal data were published. Furthermore, it may significantly affect the system more than existing research.
AIM: An integrative review aims to clarify the results or consequences of sleep disturbance/deprivation or insomnia symptoms among diabetes mellitus type 2 patients.
METHODS: The writers implemented a literature search in PubMed, CINAHL, and Medline using the terms DM type 2, insomnia, adult, effect, DM, sleep disturbance, sleep disorder, and a consequence between 2012 and 2022. Inclusion criteria selected through considering the entire article, and providing an abstract, were 20 articles.
RESULTS: Integrative data extraction and information were analyzed thematically. Identified were nine ideas: Association with blood sugar control, blood pressure control, risk of CVD, diabetes self-care behavior, weight gained and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), lifestyle and physical activity, mood/depression and anxiety symptoms, daily calories distribution, cholesterol/triglyceride, and liver enzyme levels.
CONCLUSION: The adverse effects of sleep deprivation in type 2 diabetes significantly affect all pathophysiologically, mentally, and lifestyle modifications, including diabetes self-care. Therefore, to highlight the importance of promoting optimum sleep in diabetes type2 patients, a health-care system is inevitably as necessary as diet and exercise management.

Abstract
Background: This study examined the association between sedentary behavior, sleep duration, breakfast skipping, and abdominal obesity among postmenopausal women in South Korea. Materials and Methods: A total of 7,270 postmenopausal women were included in this cross-sectional, secondary analysis study, using a nationally representative dataset from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Results: Sleep duration of fewer than 5 hours/day was associated with an increased risk of abdominal obesity (odds ratio [OR] = 1.29; 95% confidence interval [CI], [1.02-1.63]), compared to sleep duration of 6-8 hours/day after controlling for covariates. Additionally, breakfast skipping was associated with an increased risk of abdominal obesity (OR = 1.45; 95% CI [1.02-2.06]), compared to breakfast eating after covariate adjustment. There was no significant association between sedentary behavior and abdominal obesity. Conclusions: The findings of this study demonstrate that special consideration should be given to behavior modification strategies to improve sleep duration and decrease breakfast skipping to decrease the risk of abdominal obesity in postmenopausal women.

Abstract
(1) Background: Orthosiphon stamineus Benth. is a traditional medicine used in the treatment of diabetes and chronic renal failure in southern China, Malaysia, and Thailand. Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease and the number of diabetic patients in the world is increasing. This review aimed to systematically review the effects of O. stamineus in the treatment of diabetes and its complications and the pharmacodynamic material basis. (2) Methods: This systematic review was conducted following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA), using the databases ScienceDirect, PubMed, and Web of Science. (3) Results: Thirty-one articles related to O. stamineus and diabetes were included. The mechanisms of O. stamineus in the treatment of diabetes and its complications mainly included inhibiting α-amylase and α-glucosidase activities, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, regulating lipid metabolism, promoting insulin secretion, ameliorating insulin resistance, increasing glucose uptake, promoting glycolysis, inhibiting gluconeogenesis, promoting glucagon-likepeptide-1 (GLP-1) secretion and antiglycation activity. Phenolic acids, flavonoids and triterpenoids might be the main components for hypoglycemia effects in O. stamineus. (4) Conclusion: O. stamineus could be an antidiabetic agent to treat diabetes and its complications. However, it needs further study on a pharmacodynamic substance basis and the mechanisms of effective constituents.

Abstract
Cardiometabolic disease is a spectrum of diseases including, cardiovascular diseases, and metabolic syndrome. It is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, with premature deaths being preventable. Currently, sleep has emerged as a potential target for cardiometabolic disease prevention. Several epidemiological studies have provided ample evidence that objectively measured short sleep duration increases the risk of cardiometabolic disease. However, the findings are inconsistent, and few studies measure sleep duration on cardiometabolic profiles objectively. Therefore, in this review, we focused on the recently published literature that explored the association between objectively measured sleep duration and cardiometabolic profiles (cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and metabolic syndrome), seeking more insights regarding the applicability and, in turn, the impact of objectively measured sleep duration on cardiometabolic health, which is relatively understudied. We retrieved the information manually from PubMed, Google Scholar, HINARI, and the Cochrane Library from 2015 to 2022 using appropriate search terms, we included 49 articles. In this review, we found a strong relationship between objectively measured sleep duration and the risk of cardiometabolic disease, indicating that objectively measured short sleep durations increase cardiometabolic risks. In general, the association between objectively measured sleep duration and increased cardiometabolic risks (CMR) has been well-documented in higher-income countries. Several studies found that longer sleep duration was associated with a more favorable cardiometabolic profile in early adolescence, independent of other risk factors. On the other hand, objectively measured short sleep duration is associated with adverse cardiometabolic health outcomes such as coronary heart disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and metabolic syndrome.

Abstract
During the COVID-19 pandemic, psychological disorders have been documented in the population, and their exacerbation in vulnerable populations such as those with Cardiometabolic Diseases (CD) might challenge health systems. This study determined psychological factors associated with CD in Colombian adults during the COVID-19 pandemic. For this purpose, 284 persons were evaluated, 142 without CD and 142 with CD. Sociodemographic data were collected, and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), the SF-12v2, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale (ZSDS), which were integrated into an online form, were used. Through a simple and multiple logistic regression model, it was shown that CD was associated with low sleeping quality (LSQ) (OR = 3.51) and with depressive symptoms (DS) (OR = 1.98). In addition, in the group with CD, the presence of DS was related to BMI (OR = 2.45), and LSQ was related to living with persons at risk for COVID-19 (OR = 3.64) and BMI (OR = 5.88). In conclusion, this study showed that people with CD have a higher chance of presenting DS and LSQ. Furthermore, living with people at risk for COVID-19 was related to the presence of LSQ.
