Abstract
BACKGROUND Moral reasoning in nursing is crucial in delivering high-quality patient care and fostering increased job satisfaction among nurses. Adhering to professional values is vital to this profession, and nurses must modify their actions to align with these values. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to examine the correlation between moral reasoning and professional values among undergraduate nursing students. RESEARCH DESIGN A descriptive correlational design was recruited. PARTICIPANTS AND RESEARCH CONTEXT The research was conducted at three nursing schools located in Tehran, Iran. The sample was recruited through random stratified sampling, specifically targeting undergraduate nursing students. The data collection tool comprised a three-part questionnaire, including a demographic information form, the Nursing Dilemma Test, and the Nurses Professional Values Scale Revised Questionnaire. The distribution of questionnaires encompassed both face-to-face and electronic methods. The analysis of data was conducted using SPSS 16 software. The data was analyzed using the independent samples t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and linear regression analysis. The P value of 0.05 was considered significant. ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS The Ethics Research Center of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences approved the study. FINDINGS Data analysis showed that moral reasoning was directly correlated to professional values (r = 0.528, p < 0.001). The mean scores of Principled Thinking (P.T.), Practical Consideration (P.C.), and Familiarity with similar moral dilemmas of the NDT scale were 42.55 (SD = 12.95), 15.72 (SD = 6.85), 16.08 (SD = 6.67), respectively. Also, the total score of professional values of students was 90.63 (SD = 28.80). CONCLUSION The findings indicated that moral reasoning and interest in nursing predict students' professional identity. Thus, any effort to enhance interest in the profession can contribute to developing students' professional identity. This can involve incentivizing, enhancing the professional reputation at the community and university levels, and valuing student preferences and necessities.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Family and Community Health Nurses (FCHNs) are at a higher risk of experiencing emotional exhaustion and feelings of low personal accomplishment. Higher levels of professional identity may decrease these negative feelings. Its measurement could produce positive effects for FCHNs and the quality of care they offer. AIM This study aims to evaluate the psychometric properties (validity and reliability) of the Nurses Professional Values Scale-Revised (NPVS-R) on FCHNs in Italy. RESEARCH DESIGN A cross-sectional research design was used. PARTICIPANTS AND RESEARCH CONTEXT A convenience sample of FCHNs was recruited in an out-of-hospital setting from Italy. A total of 202 nurses were eligible (mean age of 41.11 ± 10.55 years; 78.2% female). ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS The study was performed in accordance with the World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki. Participants were asked for their consent and were guaranteed anonymity in the information collected. The study was approved by the internal review board of the university. RESULTS Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) supported a unidimensional factorial structure of the NPVS-R with an adequate fit to the data. Internal consistency reliability was also supported. The construct validity was further reinforced by the concurrent validity results showing a positive and significant correlation of professional identity with job satisfaction. CONCLUSION The NPVS-R is a valid and reliable instrument to measure professional identity among FCHNs. It can be used in clinical practice to improve FCHNs' psychological-emotional feelings and quality of care provided, in research to allow comprehensive understanding of professional identity, and in educational settings to monitor the professional identity levels of Family and Community Health Nursing students.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The formation of nursing professional values is crucial to the development of the nursing profession, but it is influenced by various factors. The process of shaping nursing professional values in different growth contexts has been overlooked. In order to establish professional values in the context of Chinese nursing, it is necessary to investigate the evolution of nursing professional values throughout history. PURPOSE To develop a theory of professional values growth from a nursing context. Design: This study adopted a grounded theory approach from Strauss and Corbin. PARTICIPANTS From November 2021 to March 2022, a total of 33 participants were included. METHODS Data were collected using a semi-structured interview over telephone or online or face to face and were analysed using open, axial, and selective coding, with the help of MAXQDA 2020. ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS The research was approved by the Ethics Committee of the China Medical University. All participants signed the informed consent and agreed to be interviewed before the study. FINDINGS The study has developed a theoretical construct of nursing professional values growth that consists of five dimensions: key aspects, decisive opportunities, drivers, embodiment, and shaping outcomes. And key aspects include four subcategories (the initial stage, the consciousness stage, the core stage, and the action stage). Decisive opportunities come from organisations and individuals. Drivers consist of social culture and self-trait, and embodiment covers two subcategories (humanism and ethical emotions). The last dimension is shaping outcomes, which consists of three subcategories (maintaining the original intention, professionalism, and instilling professional values). DISCUSSION The theory demonstrates the individual development process of nursing professional values in different interactive contexts, the context of its interaction with social and personal values is revealed, and the dynamics and mechanisms of the formation of personal psychological qualities in professional values from a nursing context are discovered. CONCLUSIONS This theory reveals the mechanisms that shape nursing professional values and can provide guidance for the growth of nursing students' professional values.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To construct the underlying value structure of shared decision making (SDM) models. METHOD We included previously identified SDM models (n = 40) and 15 additional ones. Using a thematic analysis, we coded the data using Schwartz's value theory to define values in SDM and to investigate value relations. RESULTS We identified and defined eight values and developed three themes based on their relations: shared control, a safe and supportive environment, and decisions tailored to patients. We constructed a value structure based on the value relations and themes: the interplay of healthcare professionals' (HCPs) and patients' skills [Achievement], support for a patient [Benevolence], and a good relationship between HCP and patient [Security] all facilitate patients' autonomy [Self-Direction]. These values enable a more balanced relationship between HCP and patient and tailored decision making [Universalism]. CONCLUSION SDM can be realized by an interplay of values. The values Benevolence and Security deserve more explicit attention, and may especially increase vulnerable patients' Self-Direction. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS This value structure enables a comparison of values underlying SDM with those of specific populations, facilitating the incorporation of patients' values into treatment decision making. It may also inform the development of SDM measures, interventions, education programs, and HCPs when practicing.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Forensic nurses providing care to patients who are victims or offenders of abuse, trauma, or violence often face enormous challenges in their daily practice, leading to emotional stress, vicarious traumatization, and burnout, and potentially reducing the quality of patient care. Embracing mindfulness as an ongoing method of self-care can have an array of benefits for forensic nurses to prevent burnout and improve their well-being and quality of patient care. Existing literature supports the benefits of mindfulness-based interventions, as self-care practices, in improving many positive health outcomes among nurses working in a variety of healthcare settings. Mindfulness qualities, such as open awareness, attention to detail, nonjudgment, emotional regulation, compassion, and empathy, can contribute to forensic nurses' well-being and the quality of patient care. Mindfulness is a way of living; thus, formal and informal mindful self-care tools integrated into daily nursing practice can result in better outcomes and work satisfaction among nurses. This article discusses the potential benefits of mindfulness and practical ways to integrate mindfulness tools into forensic nursing practice. Incorporating mindful self-care practices should be a goal for consideration for the contemporary forensic nursing profession at large. Further intervention research is recommended to identify the mechanism of how mindfulness can benefit forensic nurses practicing in highly challenging work environments.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Nursing professional values are the foundation of nursing practice. There has been no research to develop an instrument to measure professional values in nursing based on intermediate conceptual measurement theory. OBJECTIVES To develop an ICM-based measurement tool for the nursing professional values of undergraduate students. DESIGN A cross-sectional study. METHODS The Nursing Professional Values-Intermediate Conceptual Measurement (NPV-ICM) was developed using the steps of Cunningham's process to generate questionnaire items. The tool was devised in three stages: identifying the intermediate concepts, developing stories reflecting the intermediate concepts and setting up options for action and justification in the stories and setting up scoring criteria for the measurement tool. The tool was tested through internal consistency reliability, content validity and calibration correlation validity. RESULTS This study resulted in five nursing professional values situational stories containing five themes (care, altruism, responsibility, respect and justice) respectively. Each situational story contained a varying number of action options and justification options, totalling 72 Richter 5 level options and 20 ranked items. Reliability and validity were found to be good, with a total Cronbach's α of 0.93 and Cronbach's α of 0.75-0.80 for each situational story and calibrated correlational validity was found to correlate significantly between the total Nursing Professional Values Scale Revised (NPVS-R) scores and the NPV-ICM. CONCLUSIONS The NPV-ICM created in this study possesses high reliability and validity. It alters the values perception research, moving from abstract conceptual measurements to measurements of particular values actions and justifications for participation in activities. And the study presents preliminary evidence supporting the reliability of the NVP-ICM as a measure of professional values.

Abstract
Moral injury has attracted attention widely in various occupations, particularly health professionals. Personality traits involve the professional values in clinical decision-making associated with mental outcomes. The current study examines the relationship between "light personality" style and moral injury. Scores on three subscales of the Light Triad Scale were negatively correlated with the Moral Injury Symptoms Scale-Health Professional. Health professionals more likely to have light personality styles may be less likely to suffer from moral injury under high-stake situations. The findings provide evidence to better understand the inner core of the moral injury, suggesting a potential pathway to improve the moral well-being of health professionals by strengthening key elements of light personality.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The knowledge and skills of pain management nurses positions them well to manage people's pain and provide critical services to patients with COVID-19. AIM To understand the personal and professional experiences and the support pain management nurses received during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS Between July 2020 and 2021, data were collected through semi-structured telephone interviews from members of the American Society for Pain Management Nursing. Content analysis was used. RESULTS Eighteen pain management nurses who worked during the early stages of the pandemic were interviewed. Three main categories were identified: experiencing stress and burden, pain management strategies changed, learning to cope with support. Pain management nurses reported fear of exposure, difficulties with staff shortages, the complex social milieu, and how pain management took a backseat to other symptoms of COVID-19. They coped through support from their colleagues, organizational leaders, and community members. Pain management nurses provided recommendations for future care of patients' pain during a pandemic. CONCLUSIONS Pain management nurses shared their professional and personal experiences and the support they received while managing patients' pain during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their experiences provided findings on the importance of pain management and to support nurses during personal and professional vulnerabilities during crises. Key recommendations on the care of patients' pain in future pandemics included developing expertise in pain management and health-related emergencies; engaging nurses in supportive mental health services, infectious disease testing, and vaccine efforts; and planning for surge capacity to reach out to underserved people living with pain.

Abstract
This study's main purpose involves exploring the relationship between the social values of nursing staff and the perception they have of their professional lives. A further aim is to examine how their terms of employment and tenure of service relate to the quality of their careers and their social values. The research consisted of a non-experimental quantitative approach of a descriptive nature involving 380 nursing staff at four public hospitals in Madrid (Spain). The values were appraised by means of the Schwarz Value Survey (SVS) and the quality of their careers was measured through the Quality of Professional Life (QPL-35) questionnaire. The results reveal significant correlations between the two, highlighting the significance of such values as universalism, benevolence, achievement and power depending on their terms of employment, on the one hand, and all the values in the Schwartz model according to the length of their tenure on the other. The findings suggest that terms of employment and tenure are significantly related to the axiological profile of nursing staff and the quality of their professional lives. This study provides major empirical evidence that contributes to our understanding of how social values and the quality of professional lives are interwoven within the field of nursing in Spain.

Abstract
AIM To explore nursing students' perception of nursing knowledge. DESIGN Qualitative interview study. METHODS Semistructured individual interviews with nine nursing students in their third year were conducted via a cloud-based video communication app. Transcriptions were analysed based on Braun and Clarke's thematic analysis. The Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research checklist for qualitative research was used. RESULTS The findings show that the participants emphasised that values are the prerequisites of and basis for performing professional nursing. The students found it difficult to define nursing knowledge and to distinguish nursing knowledge from other subjects. The thematic analysis resulted in two themes: values-a prerequisite of nursing knowledge, and nursing knowledge-an umbrella of knowledge. CONCLUSION Nursing knowledge seems to be difficult both to clarify and to demarcate for the students. However, the participants considered values to be important and vital to becoming a professional nurse. IMPLICATIONS FOR THE PROFESSION This study addresses students' perceptions of values, nursing knowledge and what it consists of, and how this is experienced. An understanding of the nursing students' perceptions of what they consider to be important values and how they understand nursing knowledge is important in making the profession clearer and more distinguishable. IMPACT The impact of this study means that nurse education needs to emphasise a more argumentative and visible education where nursing knowledge and values are more prominent than today. Abstract
INTRODUCTION The rapid spread and the severity of symptoms of COVID-19 led to an increasing number of critical cases that need to be admitted to intensive care units (ICUs) worldwide. Compassion is a principle of nursing practice and indicates the meaning of providing high-quality care in all units, especially in the ICU. It means that nurses know what is important to patients and when they should be there for them when it is needed. There is a paucity of literature from Saudi Arabia that explores how critical care nurses perceive compassionate care during COVID-19. OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to investigate the lived experiences of critical care nurses providing compassionate care to COVID-19 patients at King Abdulaziz Medical City, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. METHODS A prospective, cross-sectional, descriptive phenomenological approach was utilized in this study. Data were collected from 13 ICU nurses through interviews. Collected data were transcribed and analyzed using Colaizzi's data analysis method. RESULTS Eleven out of the 13 ICU nurses hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and have more than five years of experience. Despite all the challenges surrounding the care for critically ill COVID-19 patients, nurses provide compassion in different ways to show personal interest to the patients. Data analysis revealed five themes: (1) contemporary meaning and competencies for compassionate nursing care, including communication and the inability to freely use touch; (2) physical symptoms, including discomfort, body aches and headaches, and sleep disturbances; (3) emotional turmoil, where three sub-themes emerged, including fear and anxiety, uncertainty, and isolation and loneliness; (4) role changing, including frequent guidelines change, additional roles and responsibilities, and altruism; (5) professionalism, including cultural facets of care, teamwork, and support. DISCUSSION The COVID-19 pandemic has caused major changes in nurses' working environment and so their experience. The results of this study indicated that nurses working in the ICU experienced remarkable and massive physical, psychological, and emotional symptoms during the COVID-19 pandemic. The nurses extended the relationships to the patients' families as they are at high risk of stress, anxiety, and depression. In addition, they were able to support them in dealing with the fear associated with the uncertainty of COVID-19. Also, results revealed that remote therapeutic relationships and psychotherapy can be credible and trustworthy alternatives to in-person care. CONCLUSIONS The results of this study indicated that ICU nurses provide compassionate care despite experiencing unprecedented and immense physical, psychological, and emotional symptoms during the COVID-19 pandemic. RECOMMENDATIONS Further study is recommended using other research methodologies. It is also recommended to conduct the same study in different cities for better generalization.

Abstract
CONTEXT Professional values (PVs) of health care providers influence their professional decisions and behaviors. Athletic training is one of the remaining health professions without established shared PVs. Commitment to shared PVs, also known as core values, prompts good and right behavior by guiding moral and ethical judgment and professional decision-making. OBJECTIVE To identify shared PVs in athletic training that enable the use of a values orientation, which facilitates adherence to legal, ethical, regulatory, and professional standards. DESIGN Cross-sectional survey study. SETTING Web-based surveys. PATIENTS OR OTHER PARTICIPANTS The Athletic Training Strategic Alliance leadership (n = 61/95), National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) membership (n = 4837/35 279), and NATA committee members (n = 277/423). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S) Our research consisted of 3 studies, each using a web-based survey to identify shared PVs, as well as a definition and sample behaviors for each PV. RESULTS Using a 3-tiered systematic and inclusive process, we identified caring and compassion, integrity, respect, competence, and accountability as the shared PVs among athletic trainers. Definitions and 3 sample behaviors have also been provided and endorsed for each of the 5 shared PVs. CONCLUSIONS With the establishment of these shared PVs and their recent addition to the NATA Code of Ethics, athletic trainers can immediately incorporate a values orientation into their professional practices.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Moral courage is a recognized virtue. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the master's students of nursing (MSNs) in China have shown tenacious moral courage. OBJECTIVE This study elaborates on the moral courage of Chinese MSNs through their experiences of volunteering during the pandemic. RESEARCH DESIGN Descriptive qualitative, interview-based. PARTICIPANTS AND RESEARCH CONTEXT Participants were nursing postgraduate students who participated in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic selected by purposeful sampling. The sample size was determined by data saturation, which was reached with 10 participants. Data were analyzed using a deductive method of content analysis. Because of the isolation policy, telephone interviews were adopted. ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS After obtaining the approval of the ethical institution of the author's school (No. 138, 30 August 2021), verbal consent was obtained before the interview with the participants. All data were processed anonymously and confidentially. In addition, we recruited participants through MSNs' counselors, and obtained their phone numbers with their permission. RESULTS Data analysis resulted in 15 subcategories that were subsequently grouped into 3 major categories including proceed without hesitation, the outcome of practicing moral courage, and develop and maintain moral courage. CONCLUSION This qualitative study is based on the special background of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the MSNs in China have shown tenacious moral courage in the work of epidemic prevention and control. Five factors led them to take action without hesitation, and six possible outcomes followed. Lastly, this study provides some suggestions for nurses and nursing students to enhance their moral courage. To better develop and support moral courage in the future, it is necessary to use different methods and multidisciplinary approaches to study moral courage.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Difficulties in adapting to the workplace can affect newly graduated nurses' transition. Such nurses must adapt quickly, as it can affect their future career prospects. Therefore, this review aimed to identify the success factors that promote newly graduated nurses' effective transition and adaptation. METHODS The Joanna Briggs Institute scoping reviews methodology was used. Data were extracted from MEDLINE, Scopus, EBSCOhost, and Web of Science publications published between 2011 and 2020. A total of 23 articles were included in this review, which comprised qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods primary research studies focusing on the contributing factors that aided newly graduated nurses' adaptation to the work environment during their transition period. Key emerging themes were identified with thematic analysis. RESULTS Three main themes were identified: (1) organisational contribution (social development, organisational culture, work characteristics, work readiness, work commitment, professional role), (2) personality traits (self-embodiment, personality masking, being proactive and confident), and (3) academic institutions (pre-entry knowledge and role of nursing faculty). Newly graduated nurses' adaptation should begin during nursing education, be supported by the workplace organisation, and driven by the nurse's personality. We determined that that the role of nursing education in aiding the provision of the required knowledge and actual clinical experiences to students profoundly affected developing nurses' self-confidence levels in delivering nursing care effectively. Additionally, a warm environment supported nurses emotionally and physically. CONCLUSIONS While organisations and educational institutions have undertaken numerous efforts to ensure that newly graduated nurses are adequately supported, the nurse's personality and values are also equally important to ease adaptation during the transition process. Academic and workplace programs designed for newly graduated nurses should apply and emphasise this knowledge to develop and strengthen their personalities and values, especially to increase confidence and promote proactive values that facilitate newly graduated nurses' rapid and effective adaptation to their new employment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although published studies have examined the perceptions of caregivers who are attending to older adults with dementia concerning the values of human dignity and/or autonomy in institutional settings, none have explored the possible differences in actual behavior that relates to these values for caregivers from diverse ethno-cultural backgrounds. AIMS Explore how caregivers with varied cultural backgrounds may differ in their real-time behavior regarding the autonomy and dignity of older adults with dementia and thereby determine whether that real-time behavior reveals new aspects of respect and disrespect for both the autonomy and dignity of those older adults. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS A qualitative research based on non-participatory observations, was meticulously recorded using a written journal and a rigorous microanalysis to analyze the collected data. We made 58 shift-based observations (morning and evening) of 29 caregivers from 3 ethno-cultural groups working in 3 nursing homes in Israel. These groups included Israeli-born Jews (Sabras), Israeli Arab-Muslims (Arabs), and immigrants from the Former Soviet Union (IFSU). RESULTS (1) IFSU caregivers demonstrated more respect for autonomy and dignity, but also demonstrated disrespect for these values. (2) the main difference between the IFSU caregivers and other caregiver groups pertained to respect for their autonomy. The main specific facets of autonomy where IFSU caregivers surpassed their colleagues were information provision and persuasion. (3) toward both autonomy and dignity of these older adults, previously unaccounted for in the models we used, were discovered among the varied groups of caregivers, with only minor gaps between these groups. DISCUSSION AND IMPLICATIONS This study-the first of its kind to focus on the real-time behaviors of caregivers from diverse ethno-cultural backgrounds-reveals the potential effects of culture on applying practices related to dignity and autonomy during daily care. The findings may have important implications for caregiver training in multicultural societies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Early warning systems and rapid response teams have been widely implemented in hospitals worldwide to facilitate early recognition and response to patient deterioration. Unfortunately, evidence suggests that these interventions have made little impact on unexpected cardiac or respiratory arrest, hospital mortality, unplanned admission to intensive care units, or hospital length of stay. These programs depend on nurses recognizing at risk patients and initiating a timely response. Although physiologic abnormalities commonly precede serious adverse events, nurses often fail to recognize or respond effectively. Clinical judgment is a critical component in the effective response to deterioration, yet little is known about factors that influence nurses' clinical judgment in these situations. Noticing, interpreting, and responding are aspects of clinical judgment and are essential to preventing further patient deterioration and serious adverse events. OBJECTIVE To describe medical-surgical nurses' perceptions of factors that influenced their clinical judgment in situations of patient deterioration. DESIGN A qualitative descriptive design using individual, semi-structured interviews. Tanner's Clinical Judgment Model served as the framework for interview questions and data analysis. PARTICIPANTS A purposive sample of 20 medical-surgical registered nurses were recruited from 10 adult medical-surgical units at an academic medical center hospital in the United States. METHODS Telephone interviews occurred between March and July 2018. A directed approach to content analysis was used to code the transcribed data and identify themes. RESULTS Eight themes related to each aspect of clinical judgment emerged from the analysis: Knowing the patient, Experience matters, Lots of small points where the system can fail, Making sense of the data, Something doesn't go together, Caught in the middle, Culture of teamwork, and Increased nursing workload. An overarching theme was Nurses' keen sense of responsibility. Findings revealed that factors within the nurse, the patient, and the work environment influence each component of noticing, interpreting, and initiating an effective response to deteriorating patients. CONCLUSIONS Findings have implications for health care systems regarding interventions to support timely recognition and response to deterioration. Nurses' clinical judgment and factors that influence each aspect (noticing, interpreting, and responding) should be a key consideration in organizational efforts to improve the overall response to patient deterioration. Research is needed to enhance understanding of the contextual factors that impact nurses' clinical judgment to inform interventions to support timely recognition and response.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Love of the profession has significant relationship with nurses' job motivation and care quality. However, there is limited information about organizational and environmental factors affecting love of the profession among nurses. AIM This study aimed at exploring nurses' experiences of the role of organizational and environmental factors in the development of love of the profession. METHODS This qualitative study was conducted in 2020-2021 using the conventional content analysis approach. Participants were Fifteen Iranian nurses with deep love of the profession, nursing instructors, and nursing managers purposefully selected from different healthcare and academic settings in seven large cities of Iran. Data were gathered via semi-structured interviews and were analyzed via the conventional content analysis method proposed by Graneheim and Lundman. RESULTS Organizational and environmental factors affecting the development of love of the profession were grouped into three main categories: The social context of the profession (with two subcategories), family support (with two subcategories), and organizational health (with four subcategories). Subcategories were respectively historical context of the profession, the evolving context, emotional family support, instrumental family support, quality of interpersonal relationships in the organization, level of organizational justice, level of authority delegation to nurses, and level of organizational support. CONCLUSION Different organizational and environmental factors can affect nurses' love of the profession development. Improving public image of nursing, providing nurses with stronger support, improving organizational climate, and strengthening interpersonal relationships in healthcare settings are recommended to develop nurses' Love of the profession.

Nurses’ Beliefs and Barriers of Delivering Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation for Heart Failure Patients in Saudi Arabia: A Cross-Sectional Study. REPORTS 2022. Abstract
Background: Patients with heart failure (HF) may benefit greatly from cardiopulmonary rehabilitation (CR), which is provided by a team of healthcare professionals that often includes nurses. There has been no research on how nurses perceive providing CR or the hurdles that may affect referrals. Methods: All registered nurses in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province were given access to a cross-sectional online survey consisting of nine multiple-choice questions that address attitudes, beliefs, and barriers to CR for HF patients in Saudi Arabia. Descriptive statistics were used to characterize the respondents. Results: Altogether, 439 registered nurses participated in the online survey, with men making up 194 (44%) and women 245 (56%). The mean and SD of years of clinical experience in caring for patients with HF were 6 ± 5 years. Out of 439 nurses, 107 (24%) strongly agree, and 255 (58%) agree that CR will enhance the physical fitness of patients. However, 94 (21.1%) strongly agree, and 248 (56.4%) agree that CR might alleviate dyspnea in HF patients. The vast majority of the nurses either strongly agree (90 (20.5%)) or agree (240 (55%)), that CR would help reduce palpitations and fatigue in HF patients. Indeed, 87 (19.81%) strongly agree, and 262 (59.68%) agree that CR would help improve HF patients’ ability to perform daily activities, while 51 (11.6%) strongly agree and 223 (51%) agree that CR would help in reducing hospital readmission. It was shown that 360 (82%) of the 439 nurses favored the delivery of CR programs in hospital-supervised programs, while 368 (83.8%) ranked information on HF disease as the most important aspect of the CR program, followed by information about medications at 305 (69.4%). The availability of CR facilities (36%), the cost of therapy (35%), and the absence of an established standardized referring strategy (34%) were identified as the most significant barriers affecting the referral of patients with HF for CR by nurses. Conclusion: Generally, nurses believed CR helped improve desired clinical outcomes in HF patients. Although a hospital-based program with close supervision is optimal for administering CR, few such options exist. Referrals of patients with HF were hampered by the lack of CR facilities, the cost of intervention, and the lack of a systematic approach to referrals.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Values should inform the care every nurse provides. Professional values equally affect patient care and organizational outcomes. In addition, they aid in forming a basis for moral judgments. The aim of this review is to elucidate the whole spectrum of factors affecting the development of nurses' professional values. DESIGN An integrative review approach was chosen. DATA SOURCE The review included searches in four databases - MEDLINE Complete, CINAHL Plus, ERIC, and Scopus - from January 2015 to November 2021, 572 articles were screened resulting in 35 quantitative and qualitative articles that met the inclusion criteria and passed the critical appraisal. RESULT Five major themes and subthemes emerged from the review: Individual determinants was the first theme. Education was the second theme. Experience was the third theme. The fourth theme was nurses' values perceptions. The final theme dealt with the impact of role models. CONCLUSION Understanding the power of nursing values as an effective influencer of nursing practice is important because nurses' values can ensure high-quality care and strengthen the professional brand.

Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the influence of professional values on attitudes towards professional ethics, as well as the influence of sociodemographic variables on attitudes and professional values in future physical therapy professionals. A total of 231 physical therapy students (53% women; mean age 22.30 (SD = 5.13 years; age range 18-49)) participated. Attitudes towards professional ethics (Attitudes Questionnaire towards Professional Ethics in Physical Therapy) and professional values (Axiological Estimation of Professional Values Questionnaire) were analyzed. Linear regressions were conducted to examine: (i) the statistical prediction of attitudes as a dependent variable, with professional values as independent variables; (ii) whether sociodemographic variables had a relationship with attitudes or professional values. Professional values explained 6.5% of the variance of attitudes towards professional ethics (F(1,230) = 16.08, p < 0.001)). In regard to sociodemographic characteristics, age explained 3% of the variance of attitudes (F(1,230) = 7.11, p < 0.01) and presence of relatives in healthcare explained 1.9% of the variance in professional values (F(1,230) = 4.35, p < 0.05)). These results suggest that an increased awareness of professional values is essential to maximizing the attitudes towards professional ethics in future physical therapy professionals in order to improve their future daily clinical practices.

Objective
Baccalaureate degree curricula consist of several professional values required for nursing students, which are taught in many ways. This study aimed to explore the perception of baccalaureate Jordanian nursing students regarding professional values and to assess the relationship between students’ demographics and their perception of professional values.
Methods
The study design was a descriptive, cross-sectional correlational design. A convenience sample of 182 Jordanian undergraduate nursing students enrolled at one of the most prominent universities in Jordan who completed and submitted a self-administered Nurses’ Professional Values Scale (NPVS) was considered for this study.
Results
The NPVS total score ranged from 37 to 130, with a relatively high total score mean (99.68 with a mean of 3.83 out of 5). The highest score domain in NPVS was “Justice” with a mean of 3.97, while the lowest ranked domain was “Activism” with a mean of 3.69. The correlation coefficient showed no statistically significant correlation between age nor accumulative students’ average with a total score of Nurses Professional Values Scale-revised (NPVS-R) and its subdomains. The t test results showed that gender and type of students’ enrollment (regular vs. upgrading) did not affect the means of NPVS-R and its subdomains. But differences were found to be statistically significant between the means of first year students and fourth year students in the total score of NPVS-R.
Conclusions
Findings of the study alert nursing educators to pay more attention to the importance of promoting the values related to “activism” and “professionalism” among nursing students. Suggestions for enhancing the roles of peer supervision and providing peer review to colleagues would contribute to improving nursing students’ performance and raising self-awareness because when nursing educators pay more attention to the items of these domains, better future nursing professionals, leaders, and researchers can be gained. Also, understanding nursing students’ perceptions of the importance of professional values and the difficulties in its application would be vital to enlighten educators about the areas that need improvement.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Professional values give meaning and direction to clinical practices by providing a philosophical framework for nursing practices. The internalization of professional values is quite effective in providing professional service and is very important in terms of service quality. DESIGN This descriptive study has been conducted to determine the relationship between nurses' professional values and caring behaviors. METHODS A total of 176 nurses participated who worked in hospitals in this study. The data were collected online using the Nurse Information Form, Nurses Professional Values Scale-Revised (NPVS-R), and Caring Behaviors Assessment Tool Nursing Version-Short Form (CBAN-SF). Data analysis was performed using SPSS software, the Mann-Whitney U test, the Kruskall-Wallis test, and the Spearman correlation coefficient. RESULTS Of the nurses participating in the study, 66.5% are between the ages of 21-30, 80.7% are female, and 71% are university graduates. No statistically significant difference was found regarding professional values between the mean scores from the NPVS-R and CBAN-SF in terms of the nurses' age, gender, position, working style, clinic at which they work, or their educational status. The nurses scored high on the NPVS-R and CBAN. A moderate, significant, and positive relationship was found between nurses' overall scores on the NPVS-R and CBAN-SF. CONCLUSION As nurses' perceptions of professional values increase, their perception toward assessing care behaviors also increases. In addition, a relationship exists between nurses' education levels and assessment of care behaviors and between their work experience and their perceptions of professional values. Conducting studies on the subject using different designs is recommended.

Abstract
This study involved a descriptive and correlational study to determine how nursing students at one university in Turkey perceive spiritual care. The data were collected through a personal information form, the Spiritual Care-Giving Scale and the Portrait Values Questionnaire. The data were analyzed using Pearson's Correlation Analysis and hierarchical regression analysis. There was a correlation between perceptions of personal values and spiritual care. It was observed that the values that predicted perception of spiritual care were the values of hedonism and tradition. Therefore, it is recommended to plan value-based training, especially on subjective concepts such as spiritual care and plan simulation-based training where students can measure the results of their behaviors and reactions in given scenarios.

Abstract
Introduction Knowledge of older person's experiences of important values in home care service can facilitate the development and delivery of high-quality services supporting their well-being, dignity and participation in the care provided. To date, few studies have explored older person's values and experiences of home care services. Purpose This study aimed to explore values that older person holds regarding home care services and their experiences of how these values manifest in home care service delivery. Participants and Methods The study has a qualitative exploratory design. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 16 older persons aged 74-90 who received home care service. Data were analysed using qualitative content analysis. Results Two themes (each with sub-themes) of values relating to the experience of home care service from the perspective of the 16 older persons were identified: to be supported as an autonomous person and to be supported as a relational being. The participants experience that these two values were only partly manifested in the home care services they received. They also noted that their well-being was negatively affected when staff failed to implement these values. The fundamental values identified in study related to the older person feeling safe, being autonomous, maintaining control and independence, and having relationships. The values constitute help to guide practice from the perspective of older persons who receive home care services. Conclusion The identified values are primarily interpersonal-level values. However, such values are also of importance for home care service organisations when promoting delivery of person-centred care. Taking such a position implies adopting a relation-oriented rather than a task-oriented approach in providing home care services for older persons.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The nurses with long-term careers in clinical settings shows a clear declining trend. Recording the specific period in Korea's nursing history is also important from a historical perspective. The aim of this study was to analyze the life history narrative of clinical nurses who have been in service for more than 30 years and to explore the strength and structure of their experience that enabled them to retain their long-term careers. METHODS This study conducted qualitative research with a life history narrative. For data collection, biographical-narrative interview through in-depth personal interviews with six participants. The participants were clinical nurses who had worked at a general hospital for more than 30 years. The interviews were conducted in three sessions per participant, each session lasting 90-180 min. Qualitative thematic analysis was used to analyze the data. RESULTS The narrative of their life stories were analyzed by dividing them into "Dimensions," "Turnings" and "Adaptations". The dimensions were categorized into individual and career dimensions. Turning points were empirical and environmental conditions that posed a threat to their career retention as nurse clinicians. Adaptations were illustrated individual methods and social interactions. Twenty-four themes were derived from the 94 thematic statements. After the abstract, four comprehensive categories emerged. The core theme for retaining long-term careers, with "Finding value in myself" comprising four themes: "acknowledgement and support from families," "healthy relationship at work," "trusting myself'," and "accumulation of small achievements." CONCLUSIONS The life narratives of participants reveal a close connection with and relationship between the changes in the social aspects, the fields of healthcare and nursing, their individual predispositions, family recognition, and organizational support at that time in Korea. The healthy interpersonal relationships in work place are the most important condition in maintaining the long-term work of nurses. The experience of nurses in one era may not be able to represent experiences in another era, so an in-depth study exploring the social context seems to be necessary. There is a need for policies and changes in the field that can keep the lives of professional women working as nurses proudly.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Recently, moral sensitivity and professional values have become increasingly important in nursing education and have been tried to be improved. OBJECTIVES To investigate the effects of an ethics laboratory program integrated with the fundamentals of nursing course on the moral sensitivity and professional values of nursing students. DESIGN The present study was designed as a randomized controlled study. The 8-week ethics laboratory program was applied to the students in the intervention group. In the ethics laboratory program, interactive education methods, such as ethical scenarios, case studies, roleplay, group discussions, project papers and watching movies, were applied. Control group received the standard fundamentals of nursing curriculum. PARTICIPANTS The sample size was determined using stratified block randomization method, and 100 nursing students were assigned to intervention (n = 50) and control group (n = 50). RESULTS There was no baseline difference between the groups. The moral sensitivity average of the students in the intervention (82.66 ± 12.57) was lower than the average of the control group (85.64 ± 16.83) after the ethics laboratory program; however, the difference was not statistically significant (p > .05). Similarly, there were no significant differences between the intervention (132.32 ± 16.83) and the control group (131.81 ± 20.55) regarding the average score of professional values. In the responsibility sub-dimension of professional values, there was a statistically significant increase in the intervention group (p < .05). CONCLUSION The findings suggest that the ethics laboratory program for nursing students is effective in promoting responsibility sub-dimension of professional values. However, there was no significant effect on students' moral sensitivity and other dimensions of professional values. Further refinements of interventional research in ethics education and measurement of learning outcomes should be developed.

Abstract
AIM To identify the relationship between the characteristics of hospitals in recruiting and retaining nurses (magnet properties) and nurses' professional values. BACKGROUND In Turkey, there is a limited number of hospitals with the characteristics to enable nurses to stay in their institutions. The magnet properties of these hospitals and the professional values of the nurses working in these hospitals are not known. METHODS This descriptive cross-sectional research included 612 nurses working in 6 hospitals accredited by the Joint Commission International. Data were collected using the Nursing Professional Values Scale-Revised (NPVS-R) and the Essentials of Magnetism Scale (EOM II). RESULTS The mean NPVS-R score was high 102.0 (26-130). However, the mean EOM II score was found to be low at 2.2 (1.0-3.4). As the magnet properties of the hospitals increased, the professional values of the nurses decreased. CONCLUSION There was a negative correlation between the magnet properties of hospitals and the professional values of the nurses. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING MANAGEMENT The findings of this study highlight the necessity of creating a working environment with high magnet characteristics, which also includes the professional values of nurses. Nurse Managers should investigate the reasons behind the low magnet properties of hospitals, raise awareness, and plan interventions to increase magnet properties of hospitals. Creating a supportive working environment, promotion of the salaries and work environment and decreasing workload are some of the important intervention areas in attracting and keeping nurses in the institution.

Abstract
The purpose of this contemporary history study is to analyse nursing strategy documents produced by NHS Trusts in England in the period 2009-2013, through a process of discourse analysis. In 2013 the Francis Report on the Mid-Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust was published. The Report highlighted the full range of organisational failures in a Trust that valued financial efficiency over patient care. The analysis that followed, however, dwelt heavily on the failings of the nurses. Nursing strategy documents at that time served to set the future direction for NHS Trusts, prescribing specific value frameworks for each nursing workforce. However, the values chosen frequently conflicted with each other pitting nursing values against a managerial trope. It is argued that documents provided a response to wider NHS concerns and high-profile failures in care, particularly the Francis Report, paying lip service to staff engagement whilst maintaining a corporate focus. Nursing values were placed firmly within a managerialist discourse, one that has needed to be re-evaluated in the current Covid-19 pandemic. Wider implications of the research suggest discussion of value conflict may be beneficial within nursing education and a truly local approach to strategy creation would potentially promote staff buy-in to strategy documents.

Abstract
Background Values are of high importance to the nursing profession. Value congruence is the extent to which an individual's values align with the values of their organisation. Value congruence has important implications for job satisfaction. Aim This study explored nurse values, value congruence and potential implications for individual nurses and organisations in terms of wellbeing and patient care and safety. Method Fifteen nurses who worked in acute hospital settings within the UK participated in semi-structured telephone interviews. Thematic analysis was utilised to analyse the data. Results Four themes were identified: organisational values incongruent with the work environment; personal and professional value alignment; nurse and supervisor values in conflict; nurses' values at odds with the work environment. Perceived value incongruence was related to poorer wellbeing, increased burnout and poorer perceived patient care and safety. The barriers identified for nurses being able to work in line with their values are described. Conclusions Value congruence is important for nurse wellbeing and patient care and safety. Improving the alignment between the values that organisations state they hold, and the values implied by the work environment may help improve patient care and safety and support nurses in practice.

Objective
In today's world with sweeping changes, nurses are responsible for providing high-quality and cost-benefit care, which would almost be impossible unless they achieve their high professional status. To date, no precise and comprehensive definition of professionalism in nursing has been evidently proposed. In fact, many of the previously proposed definitions are either complicated or ambiguous. Moreover, there is no consensus in the literature on an exhaustive definition for “a professional nurse.” The present study aimed to illustrate the concept of professionalism in nursing and identify its defining characteristics.
Methods
In this study, concept analysis was conducted using Whittemore et al.'s method for the integrated review. A comprehensive search of electronic, scientific databases including Eric, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, EBSCO, PsychoINFO, Embass, MagIran, IranDoc, SID, and IRANMEDEX was carried out using the keywords such as professionalism, professional behavior, nursing professionalism (NP), professional attribute, and nursing.
Results
In the present study, a comprehensive search of 11 electronic databases retrieved 5738 articles. Then, 2837 duplicate articles were removed by endnote (version 8). Based on a preliminary examination of the titles and abstracts as well as the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 1517 articles were excluded. In addition, 137 articles were removed for scientific reasons. Finally, 52 articles in English and Persian were selected. Content analysis of the articles revealed four major themes, namely, individual prerequisite, professional prerequisite, appropriate structure, and socio-individual factors.
Conclusions
Professionalism in nursing is a major, multidimensional concept according to the literature that included individual prerequisites, professional prerequisites, appropriate structures, and socio-individual factors. In fact, professionalism in nursing comprises a wide range of personal characteristics, self-regulation, professional values, striving to acquire and enhance professional expertise, professional interactions, social, professional, and legal responsibility, and creation of a sense of belonging, and professional development.

OBJECTIVES In this paper, we explore the effects of breathing meditation training on the sustained attention level, mindfulness attention awareness level, and mental state of nurses in the operating room. METHODS We enrolled 40 nurses from September 2019 to December 2019, and divided them into a control group (N=20) and an observation group (N=20) using a random number table. The control group received routine training, based on which the observation group received breathing meditation training. We compared their sustained attention index, fatigue score, mindfulness attention awareness score, mental state score, work stress score, career satisfaction score, and career happiness index. RESULTS After training, the sustained attention response time was shorter at 8:00 and 18:00 in the observation group than in the control group (p < .05). The physical fatigue score, mental fatigue score, reduced activity score, reduced motivation score, and overall fatigue score of the observation group were lower than those of the control group (p < .05). The observation group had a higher mindfulness attention awareness score than did the control group (p < .05). The SAS and SDS scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group (p < .05). The work stress score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, whereas the career satisfaction score and career happiness index were higher (p < .05). CONCLUSION Breathing meditation training can improve the sustained attention level and mindfulness attention awareness level, reduce the feeling of fatigue and work stress, help adjust the mental state, and enhance the career satisfaction and career happiness of nurses in the operating room.

Abstract
Introduction: Dignity is a core value in nursing. Nursing education shall prepare students for
ethical professional practice and facilitate insight into the phenomenon of dignity and
its significance. There is limited knowledge about how nursing students discover dignity
in their education. Research aim: The aim of the study is to develop an understanding of how nursing students discover
and acquire dignity. Research design: The study has a hermeneutic approach where qualitative interviews of nursing students
were employed. The process of interpretation was inspired by text of Fleming, Gaidys and
Robbs. Participants and research context: Nineteen nursing students agreed to be included in the study, representing six
different campuses at three different educational institutions. All were in the final
year of their study. The interviews took place at the educational institutions. Ethical considerations: The educational institutions facilitated recruitment of the students who signed
voluntarily for participation and continuous informed consent. The study was approved by
The Norwegian Center of Reporting Data (NSD). The research recommendations of the
Declaration of Helsinki were followed. Findings: The nursing students discovered the expression and significance of dignity through
experiences, gained through introspection and in interaction with others during the
education. Discussion: The findings are discussed using Gadamer’s concept of experience and how experiences
can create new insight. In particular, the students’ experiences with the inner ethical
and external aesthetic dimension of dignity are discussed. Conclusion: The study shows that students discovered the inner ethical dignity through experiencing
vulnerability, pride and shame. They discovered the external aesthetic dignity through
incidents, where they experienced both to be confirmed and not to be confirmed, and
through observation of good or bad role models. Crucial negative and positive
experiences are important for discovering the expression and significance of
dignity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The COVID-19 pandemic has produced high stress in nurses, affecting their professional quality of life. Different variables affect psychological stress response and professional quality of life. In this context, the role of professional values represents an interesting object of research. OBJECTIVES To analyze the relationship between professional values, perceived stress, and professional quality of life among nurses during the COVID-19 crisis. RESEARCH DESIGN, PARTICIPANTS, AND RESEARCH CONTEXT Descriptive cross-sectional study. Participants were 439 registered nurses from the public health system. Perceived stress, professional quality of life, and professional values were evaluated by using measuring instruments adapted and validated in the geographic context of research. Data were collected online in December 2020 during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain. ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS This study was approved by the Ethics Committee on Clinical Research of the Principality of Asturias. FINDINGS Within professional values, ethics obtained higher scores showing the primacy of ethical values among nurses. Moderate correlations between ethics, mastery, expertise, and compassion satisfaction were found. Frontline nurses informed high perceived stress. The correlations between professional values and compassion satisfaction were higher in non-frontline nurses. A moderate negative correlation between perceived stress and compassion satisfaction was found in both groups, which implies that the higher the stress, the lower the satisfaction in the helping relationship. CONCLUSION Professional values positively influence compassion satisfaction during the COVID-19 pandemic. Compassion satisfaction presents a negative correlation with fatigue compassion and burnout in frontline and non-frontline nurses. Given the functionality of values both to guide clinical practice professionally and ethically, and prevent dissatisfaction with one's professional quality of life by reinforcing compassion satisfaction, it is necessary to reinforce them with an intensive and cross-sectional learning during the university training.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to estimate the effectiveness of a standard clinical training program for new graduate nurses in Vietnam. METHODS A quasi-experimental longitudinal study with a difference-in-differences design was conducted. A total of 280 new graduate nurses completed a self-administered questionnaire. The intervention group consisted of 206 respondents (those having participated in standard clinical training) and the control group (those that did not receive training) of 74. Differences in mean increases in competency scores between the intervention and control groups were estimated. The effect size of the intervention was estimated by calculating Cohen's d. A generalized linear model was employed to identify the factors associated with mean increases. RESULTS The mean increase in total competency scores (range: 0-6 points) in the intervention group was 0.73 points greater than in the control group with an intermediate effect size (Cohen's d = 0.53; 95% CI 0.26 to 0.80). A greater reduction in standard deviation of total competency scores in the intervention group was confirmed. Participation in standard clinical training produced a positive association with a mean increase in total competency score without significance (β = 0.04, P = 0.321). Provincial hospitals as clinical training venues had a significantly positive association (β = 0.11, P = 0.007) with the mean increase in total competency scores. Competency at pre-clinical training was negatively (β = -0.75, P < 0.001) associated with the mean increase. CONCLUSION Findings implied that the standard clinical training program could contribute to both increasing and standardizing new graduate nurses' competencies in Vietnam. Further studies are needed to more precisely examine the attribution of standard clinical training to better increase new graduate nurses' competencies.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Nurses' professional values (NPVs) and self-efficacy (SE) are two fundamental elements in nursing care that influence its professional identity, competences, resulting in changing the behaviour of professionals and their response to the patient's health needs. The various studies produced so far have not investigated a possible relationship between these two areas. Therefore, the objective of the following study is to identify and deepen the relationship between NPV and SE, in order to improve the knowledge of these issues. MATERIALS AND METHODS An observational, correlational and multicentric study has been carried out through a questionnaire based survey. The sampling was conventional. The data collection took place through Nursing Professional Values Scale, version 3 (NPVS-3), which investigates professional values; and Nursing Professional Self-Efficacy Scale (NPSES), which investigates self-efficacy and a socio-demographic questionnaire. RESULTS The total sample was 532 nurses and 65.6% was female, with a median age of 42 years and a median of 15 working years. Positive statistically significant correlations between the various domains of the NPVS-3 and NPSES scales were found. These relationships also emerged in the analyses between geographical areas. Overall, the relationships between self-efficacy and values were similar in all the analyses. DISCUSSION As the professional values of nurses increase in their response to the patient's health needs, self-efficacy perceived by them increases and vice versa, significantly effecting the clinic and care outcomes of the patients and improving nursing outcomes. The stratification of the sample by geographical area regarding the relationship between age, years of work and professional values indicated that these variables strongly influence the NPV and SE of nurses. Therefore, in some contexts, more support in maintaining a stable value structure may be needed; moreover, it is necessary to incentivise nurses with more effective interventions, as an example and a basis of motivation for future generations.

Abstract
This study aims to investigate the relationship between the professional values and professional quality of life of nurses working in mental health units. This descriptive, cross-sectional, and correlational study was conducted with a sample of 120 nurses working in mental health units of one regional, one public, and one university hospital in western Turkey. Data were collected using an introductory information form, the Nurses Professional Values Scale-Revised, and the Professional Quality of Life-IV Scale. A statistically positive relationship was found between nurses' professional values, compassion satisfaction, and burnout. Nurses' professional values, education level, whether considering changing units, and allocation of time to social life were significant predictors of professional quality of life, explaining 44% of the total variance for Compassion Satisfaction and 24% for Burnout. Whether considering changing units was the most important predictor of compassion satisfaction, and truth value was the most important predictor of burnout. Nurses providing care based on professional values were found to have higher compassion satisfaction and burnout levels, and nurses with higher compassion satisfaction were found to experience less compassion fatigue.

Abstract
Oncology nurses are an essential component of cancer care teams. Nurses play a vital role in ensuring that cancer patients comply with their cancer treatment. In the cancer care nursing context, competency is not merely being skilled, but also implies the characteristic of being able to perform effectively. In addition to the need for competence, nursing is a discipline rich in values including human dignity, caring, humanity, and respect for personal privacy. Research from a variety of disciplines indicates that values often influence human behaviour in professional and work settings. It is often believed, therefore, that nurse' values and work experience influence and contribute to their work performance. Few studies have attempted to examine these relationships, particularly in the context of cancer care nursing. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between personal values, work experience and competency among cancer care nurses in Malaysia. Quantitative surveys were used to collect the data. A total of 845 cancer care nurses from 38 public hospitals in Peninsular Malaysia participated in the study. Descriptive statistics and Pearson Product-Moment Correlations were used to analyse the data. The findings revealed positive and significant relationships between personal values and competency (r = 0.59, p < 0.01) and work experience and competency (r = 0.11, p < 0.047). The findings support the assertion that Malaysian nurses' values and work experience are related to performance-related competency. .

Abstract
This study aimed to identify countries' cultural values associated with the importance given to certain professional nursing values by nursing students from Spain and Colombia. Weis and Schank's Nurses Professional Values Scale-Revised (NPVS-R) in its Spanish version and the Hofstede cultural classification were used for this purpose. The sample was composed of 880 nursing students. Nursing students from both countries showed a greater importance for professional nursing values compared to evidence from other countries. Significant differences were also found in the total score, dimensions, and items, always being higher for Colombian students. Based on regression results, the impact that the academic year had on the importance given to NPVS-R is non-linear (U-inverted). Both groups of students gave the highest importance to the same group of items. Those showing the largest difference in the rankings were associated with country culture differences based on the scores identified by Hofstede. Colombian and Spanish societies present similarities in Power Distance and Uncertainty Avoidance, as well as differences in the other cultural dimensions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND A growing body of evidence about nurses' ethical conflicts has been added to nursing science in recent decades, but no research has been done in Estonia. Ethical conflicts are a cultural and context sensitive phenomenon, so the historical, legal, social, economic and political backgrounds and position of nursing have had an impact on ethical conflict experiences. AIM Describe nurses' experiences of ethical conflicts. METHOD A qualitative, descriptive study was conducted among nurses (n = 21) in May-October 2018 in Estonia. The data were collected in the form of semi-structured individual interviews and analysed using the inductive content analysis method. ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS Due to the sensitive nature of the research topic, only individual interviews were carried out. FINDINGS Nurses' ethical conflicts were related to situations that violated the rights, safety or well-being of the patient or relatives, caused them suffering, were against their will or threatened nurses' dignity and professionalism through a variety of practices, attitudes and relationships. The insufficiency of patient care and professional collaboration emerged as important sources of nurses' ethical conflicts and were connected to historical and societal factors. CONCLUSIONS In order to achieve good quality of care, nurses need to have appropriate education and organisational support to carry out ethical daily care. More research is needed to understand the multidimensional cultural and contextual knowledge of ethics and nurses' ethical conflicts.

Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an unprecedented health crisis worldwide, with the numbers of infections and deaths worldwide multiplying alarmingly in a matter of weeks. Accordingly, governments have been forced to take drastic actions such as the confinement of the population and the suspension of face-to-face teaching. In Spain, due to the collapse of the health system the government has been forced to take a series of important measures such as requesting the voluntary incorporation of final-year nursing and medical students into the health system. The objective of the present work is to study, using a phenomenological qualitative approach, the perceptions of students in this exceptional actual situation. A total of 62 interviews were carried out with final-year nursing and medicine students from Jaime I University (Spain), with 85% reporting having voluntarily joined the health system for ethical and moral reasons. Results from the inductive analysis of the descriptions highlighted two main categories and a total of five sub-categories. The main feelings collected regarding mood were negative, represented by uncertainty, nervousness, and fear. This study provides a description of the perceptions of final-year nursing and medical students with respect to their immediate incorporation into a health system aggravated by a global crisis.

Abstract
Aim Ethical competence is a crucial component for enabling good quality care but there is insufficient qualitative research on healthcare professionals' views on ethical competence. The aim of this study was to investigate healthcare professionals' views on ethical competence in a student healthcare context. Design A qualitative design and a hermeneutical approach were used. Methods The material consists of texts from interviews with healthcare professionals (N = 10) in a student healthcare context. The method was inspired by content analysis. Results One main theme and four subthemes emerged. The main theme was as follows: safeguarding the vulnerability of the other. The subthemes were as follows: using sensitivity to establish a trustful relationship, acting in an objective and flexible manner, using a reflective process in decision-making, and maintaining confidentiality and honesty. Future research should focus on investigating ethical competence from various perspectives in student health care, for example the student perspective or observational studies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND For nursing students, close monitoring of the appropriate development of their professional values is an important educational objective, since it may influence crucial areas such as safety and quality of care. Research aims: first, to find development of specific professional values of students at different educational stages characterized by variation in learning methods; second, to examine professional values of nursing students related to their sociodemographic characteristics. METHODS The research consisted 261 students that were were divided into three groups based on educational level: novice, advanced, and senior students. Data were collected using the Revised Nurses' Professional Values Scale. RESULTS The research showed statistically significant differences were found between three groups with different levels of education and in domains of professional values such as caring, activism, and justice. However, no statistically significant differences between nursing student sociodemographic characteristics such as age, gender, status, and education and their professional values overall. CONCLUSIONS It can be concluded that nursing education has a significant effect on development of professional values, especially in the basic training phase, and there is a need to emphasize the application and practice of nursing values, particularly caring, activism, and justice, in theoretical courses.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Personal values influence nursing students' development of professional values, which affect professional outcomes, and how nursing students react to different situations. Personal values can be shaped by different factors, including culture, gender, and age. AIMS To explore personal values held by nursing students, and to verify if and how gender and year of study affect nursing students' personal values. RESEARCH DESIGN A multicenter, cross-sectional study was used. PARTICIPANTS AND RESEARCH CONTEXT The whole population of nursing undergraduate students available at the time was recruited from eight centers of two Universities, composing a sample of 947 students. Demographic data were collected and it was administered the Portrait Values Questionnaire. ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS Ethical approval was obtained from the Institutional Review Boards of the University of the participating centers. FINDINGS The study sample was mainly composed of young (92.6%, n = 877), female (77.3%, n = 732), Italian (95.8%, n = 907), and unmarried (98.6%, n = 934) nursing students. The most important value for nursing students, consistently through the years of nursing school, was Self-transcendence, which has the motivational emphasis on helping others and selflessness. Then, we found that male students had higher levels of Power (p < 0.001) and Achievement (p = 0.031), while female students outscored male students in Benevolence (p = 0.005) and Security (p = 0.006). Year of study showed no statistically significant difference. DISCUSSION Nursing students express high levels in hetero-directed values. Male nursing students, although they choose a stereotypically feminine profession, outscored females in stereotypical masculine values such as dominance and success. This is the first study that describes the personal value profile of undergraduate nursing students, according to the Theory of Basic Human Values, and it is a starting point for future research. CONCLUSION Nursing educators might want to consider the findings from this study while guiding students in developing awareness for their personal values.

Abstract
(1) Background: This study aims to reflect student nurses' perceptions of professional values across the four training years. (2) Methods: This study was designed as a cross-sectional study; data were collected using the Nurses' Professional Values Scale-Revised, adapted by Basurto-Hoyuelos. A total of 315 student nurses participated from a Nursing Faculty in Spain representing each of the four academic years. (3) Results: Students' perceptions of professional values were significantly correlated with their academic year. Overall, students' scores were higher in the ethics dimension. The two highest scores were for Maintain patient confidentiality for years 1 and 2 (4.77 and 4.68, respectively) and Safeguard patients' right to privacy for years 3 and 4 (4.95 and 4.98, respectively). Lower scores were observed in the professional expertise dimension across all years, and corresponded to a single item Participate in peer review (3.51, 3.38, 3.98, and 3.26, respectively). (4) Conclusions: This study is relevant as it highlights how nursing students' perceptions of professional values change overtime, even during the four years of their training. The ethics dimension was the most highly regarded across all academic years. However, the professional expertise dimension requires greater attention throughout the degree as students regarded it as less important for their immediate future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Technical innovations such as ecological momentary assessment (EMA), machine learning (ML), computerized adaptive testing (CAT), Digital Phenotyping, Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS), Algorithms, and Biomarkers have caused a paradigm shift in psychiatric care. The aim of the present study was to explore how student nurses view this paradigm shift, by assessing the acceptability of smartphone-based EMA, CAT, and biosensor-based Digital Phenotyping. We also investigated the factors affecting this acceptability. METHOD Student nurses recruited via nursing schools participated in a quantitative study involving the screenplay method, in which they were exposed to two scenarios about depression care, one featuring EMA and CAT, the other featuring a connected wristband (CW) for Digital Phenotyping. Four acceptability domains (usefulness, usability, reliability, risk) were investigated. RESULTS We recorded 1216 observations for the first scenario and 1106 for the second. Regarding overall acceptability, the CW was viewed less positively than CAT and EMA. Regarding reliability, whereas respondents believed that the CW could correctly detect depressive relapse, they did not think that EMA and CAT were sufficiently reliable for the accurate diagnosis of depressive disorder. More than 70% of respondents stated that they would nevertheless be interested in offering EMA, CAT or CW to their patients, but more than 60% feared that these devices might hinder the therapeutic relationship. CONCLUSION This was the first study assessing student nurses' views of EMA, CAT and CW-based digital phenotyping. Respondents were interested in these new technologies and keen to offer them to their patients. However, our study highlighted several issues, as respondents doubted the reliability of these devices and feared that they would hinder the therapeutic relationship. Subgroup analysis revealed correspondences between acceptability profiles and demographic profiles. It is therefore essential for nurses and student nurses to receive training and become involved in the development of this new technologies.
