Abstract
PURPOSE The onset of paediatric cancer leads to changes in the functioning of the parental couple. The interactions and interdependence between partners affect their individual and dyadic adjustments. Hope can enable parents to cope with difficulties and alleviate their distress. The aim of this study is to explore how both partners experience their relationship dynamics and hope within the couple. METHOD This qualitative study focused on 7 couples whose child was in remission from cancer; each parent was interviewed separately. The semi-structured interviews were subjected to interpretative phenomenological analysis. RESULTS Three themes were found to characterise the experiences of couples faced with their child's cancer. "Captain and first mate" emphasises the gendered and hierarchical distribution of roles based on the analogy of a crew struggling against the threat of cancer. "The emotional compass" focuses on how emotions guide each partner's attempts to meet their own need for emotional expression and that of their partner. "In the same boat, with divergent hope sails" reflects the complex and diverse ways in which hope and forms of hope are expressed, perceived as a resource which is often precious, sometimes viewed as unthinkable because it reflects the violence associated with the despair of the situation and transferred from one parent to the other. DISCUSSION These findings highlight the need to focus on the organisation of role, the interaction of emotional needs and the dynamics of hope within parental dyads to optimise the management of couples faced with their child's cancer.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed to explore children's perspective of hope in living with leukemia through the utilization of drawing-based interview technique. DESIGN AND METHODS This qualitative study was conducted at the Children's Medical Center in Tehran with the participation of children aged 6 to 12 diagnosed with leukemia. The children were asked to prepare a drawing about hope then interviews were conducted face-to-face with each child after completing the drawing. Data analysis was conducted using the qualitative content analysis. RESULTS In the collection of a total of 20 drawings from school-age children with leukemia, each drawings has different metaphors symbolizing hope. Five themes emerged including positive thinking, embracing the sanctuary of maternal affection and collective caring, the ethereal glow of joy, the melody of resilient soul, and navigating the way back to home. CONCLUSION Hope from the child's perspective can be achieved in simple, possible and accessible ways, making it easier for the family, community and healthcare system to inspire hope in their lives with Leukemia. PRACTICE IMPLICATION Health providers in pediatric oncology can integrate hope-based care interventions related to the factors influencing children's perspectives.

Abstract
This study aimed to describe the experiences of parents of children with cancer in the diagnosis process. A descriptive qualitative research design and content analysis method were used. Eleven parents participated in the study. Three main themes emerged, each with related sub-themes: encountering a cancer diagnosis, changes in the lives of those affected by the diagnosis, and coping strategies. Upon their children's diagnosis, parents reported feelings of guilt, regret, helplessness, devastation, constant thoughts of death, and changes in their lives, with some siblings displaying negative reactions. Some children felt their freedom was restricted, and some refused treatment. Parents coped by distracting their attention, praying, receiving support from their family, relatives or health professionals, and maintaining hope for their children's recovery. The study concludes that parents of children diagnosed with cancer require support to manage and adapt to the diagnosis process and meet their needs effectively throughout this difficult journey.

Abstract
PURPOSE The study aims to investigate factors influencing parents' satisfaction with hospital care for children with craniosynostosis during hospitalization for surgery. DESIGN AND METHODS A mixed-methods study with a convergent, parallel design was used. Ninety-five parents responded to the Swedish Pyramid Questionnaire for Treatment, a 25-item questionnaire with six quality domains. In addition, 20 parents were interviewed about their experiences. Frequencies were calculated, and content analysis was used to analyze free-text comments and transcribed interviews. RESULTS Parents' assessment of the overall quality of care was high (mean 87%, range 10-100%). They were most satisfied in the domain staff attitudes and less satisfied with information routines and participation. Content analysis of the interviews gave two overarching themes: Factors that parents experienced as facilitating good quality of care and Factors that parents experienced as impeding good quality of care. CONCLUSIONS Parents were generally satisfied with the care provided, and interviews captured parents´ views on important factors. Staff attitudes affected parents' perception of quality of care. PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS Clear information and dialogue as well as making parents feel they are part of their child's team can result in higher satisfaction, and allowing families to stay together in the hospital can ease the hospitalization experience. Using a theoretical model can help in suggesting relevant caring actions based on parents' reported care experiences.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aimed to determine the effect of an occupation-based nursing program (OBaNuP) on chemotherapy-induced symptoms and satisfaction in pediatric oncology patients. DATA SOURCES This study was a randomized controlled trial. The study sample consisted of 60 hospitalized children with cancer who were aged 7 to 12. Participants were randomly assigned to an OBaNuP (intervention group, n = 30) or clinical routine care only (control group, n = 30). The intervention group participated in an OBaNuP for an average of 30 minutes per day for 5 days. The Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale 7-12 and Psychosocial Symptoms in Hospitalized Children and Child Satisfaction Questionnaire were completed by participants at baseline, the first meeting immediately after intervention, and 7 days and 14 days after the intervention. CONCLUSION The average scores of chemotherapy-related symptoms differed over time between the intervention and control groups (P < .05). The psychosocial symptom score averages of the children in the intervention group significantly decreased at all time points compared to the control group (P < .05). The satisfaction mean scores of the children in the intervention group increased significantly at all time points compared to the control group (P < .05). IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING PRACTICE The OBaNuP initiative supported the decrease of chemotherapy-related and psychosocial symptoms, while also promoting an increase in satisfaction among children undergoing cancer treatment at the hospital consistently over all observed time periods.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Children treated with stem cell transplant (SCT) are routinely hospitalized for long periods where they are exposed to significant sleep and circadian disruptions. As nurses play a primary role in symptom management during SCT, we sought to understand their perspective on patient sleep and circadian disruptions, perceived barriers to a good sleep and circadian environment, and suggestions for improvement. PROCEDURE Four focus groups were conducted with pediatric SCT nurses (N = 25 participants). A semistructured focus group guide was administered, with the discussions recorded and transcribed. A multistage thematic analysis combining prefigured and emergent dimensions was conducted. Our analysis focused on drawing comparisons within and across focus groups to understand the unique work experiences that participants had related to the patient's sleep and circadian environment. RESULTS Three key themes emerged. First, nurses expressed a high awareness of how disruptive the hospital environment is for patients. Second, nurses described their extensive efforts to try to minimize the impact of these disruptions. Finally, they provided clear recommendations for how to improve upon these concerns, along with barriers that they perceive could impede implementation. CONCLUSIONS Front-line caregivers on a pediatric SCT unit describe key contributors to sleep/circadian disturbances for patients. Within the constraints of the considerable medical needs of this patient population and the physical room/hospital environment, nurses strive to minimize these disruptions to the best of their ability. It is crucial that hospitals assess and remediate these disturbances for these children that have important implications for overall health.

Abstract
PURPOSE The right of children to be heard was acclaimed at the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child, with subsequent research conducted in various settings, but with few in hospitals. This study explores the perceptions of children hospitalized with cancer and the impact of approachable nurses. DESIGN & METHODS The impact of approachable nurses was explored using a qualitative, descriptive research design, including semi-structured interviews with seven school age children in a pediatric oncology service. Audio recorded interviews were content analyzed using immersion/crystallization and editing organizational styles. RESULTS Children felt a sense of genuine concern when the nurses took time to talk and listen to them and the positive impact of fun and laughter in the midst of difficult and challenging circumstances. They had a lasting feeling of gratitude for creative ways nurses cared for them. Individualized attire created an immediate openness and avenue to conversation. Children were less worried about a rehospitalization because approachable nurses made them feel at home while in the hospital. IMPLICATIONS Nursing administration and managers are urged to provide training and regularly evaluate communication competencies. Nurses need to be accountable for the impact of their presence and actions on children both inpatient and following hospitalization. The need to promote an environment of comfort and trust supports positive impact for present and future hospitalization experiences.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed to understand the experiences, needs, and preferences for supportive care, among children and adolescents (0-19 years) diagnosed with cancer. METHODS A qualitative systematic review has been reported according to PRISMA guidelines. A comprehensive search was conducted across multiple databases (APA PsycINFO, CINAHL, and Medline) and citation searches. Studies were screened according to pre-determined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Methodological quality was evaluated. Findings were extracted in relation to the context of interest of experiences, needs, and preferences of supportive care. Each finding was accompanied by a qualitative verbatim illustration representing the participant's voice. RESULTS 4449 publications were screened, and 44 studies were included. Cancer populations represented in the included studies included lymphoma, leukaemia, brain cancer, sarcomas, and neuroblastoma. Two overarching synthesised findings were identified as (1) coping, caring relationships, communication, and impact of the clinical environment, and (2) experiences of isolation, fear of the unknown, restricted information, and changing self. Children and adolescents articulated that cancer care would be enhanced by developing a sense of control over their body and healthcare, being involved in communication and shared decision-making, and ensuring the clinical environment is age-appropriate. Many experienced a sense of disconnection from the rest of the world (including peers, school, and experiences of prejudice and bullying), and a lack of tailored support and information were identified as key unmet care needs that require further intervention. CONCLUSIONS Children and adolescent who are diagnosed with cancer are a unique and understudied group in oncological survivorship research, with the slowest progress in improvement of care over time. This review will facilitate the development of future interventions and promote the importance of tailored support for children and adolescents at all stages of the cancer journey. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS Children and adolescents continue to experience a range of difficulties despite routine contact with cancer healthcare professionals. Children and adolescents should be carefully assessed about their individual circumstances and preferences for support given the clear implications from this review that "one size" does not fit all.

Abstract
PURPOSE To explore young children's (age 3-6 years) own experiences and perceptions of treatment and care when living with a chronic illness. DESIGN AND METHODS The study employed a qualitative research design using a narrative and play-based interview approach. Individual face-to-face, narrative and play-based interviews were conducted with eight young children age 3-6 years with type 1 diabetes or cystic fibrosis. The play sessions took place at the home of the children and were video recorded. Interpretative phenomenological analysis was used to analyse the data and frame the study. RESULTS Our analysis identified six main themes: 1. Children understood illness through their bodily experience of treatment and care, 2. Children's experience of care and treatment ranged from a feeling of powerlessness to a sense of agency, 3. Children depended on their parents to provide comfort, advocacy and protection, 4. Children's perceptions of treatment and care were inherently related to their experiences of familiarity, interpersonal relationships and trust, 5. Children with type 1 diabetes did not perceive that they played an active role during consultations, and 6. Children associated medical treatment with receiving tangible rewards or positive feedback. CONCLUSION Children expressed a need to feel safe and build agency. They experienced this through participation and interpersonal relationships with healthcare professionals. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS We should prioritize the establishment and implementation of age-appropriate psychosocial care practices that support young children in participating, forming relationships, and building trust.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patient experience is a core component of healthcare quality. Patient-reported experience measures (PREMs) are increasingly used to assess this, but there are few paediatric PREMs. This paper reports the first stage of developing two such measures, one for children and young people (0-18 years) (CYP) with a life-threatening or life-shortening condition (LT/LSC), and one for their parents. It comprised parallel scoping reviews of qualitative evidence on the elements of health service delivery and care that matter to, or impact on, CYP (Review 1) and parents (Review 2). METHODS Medline and PsychINFO (1/1/2010 - 11/8/2020) and CINAHL Complete (1/1/2010 - 4/7/2020) were searched and records identified screened against inclusion criteria. A thematic approach was used to manage and analyse relevant data, informed by existing understandings of patient/family experiences as comprising aspects of staff's attributes, their actions and behaviours, and organisational features. The objective was to identity the data discrete elements of health service delivery and care which matter to, or impact on, CYP or parents which, when organised under higher order conceptual domains, created separate conceptual frameworks. RESULTS 18,531 records were identified. Sparsity of data on community-based services meant the reviews focused only on hospital-based (inpatient and outpatient) experiences. 53 studies were included in Review 1 and 64 in Review 2. For Review 1 (CYP), 36 discrete elements of healthcare experience were identified and organized under 8 higher order domains (e.g. staff's empathetic qualities; information-sharing/decision making; resources for socializing/play). In Review 2 (parents), 55 elements were identified and organized under 9 higher order domains. Some domains were similar to those identified in Review 1 (e.g. professionalism; information-sharing/decision-making), others were unique (e.g. supporting parenting; access to additional support). CONCLUSIONS Multiple and wide-ranging aspects of the way hospital healthcare is organized and delivered matters to and impacts on CYP with LT/LSCs, and their parents. The aspects that matter differ between CYP and parents, highlighting the importance of measuring and understanding CYP and parent experience seperately. These findings are key to the development of patient/parent experience measures for this patient population and the resultant conceptual frameworks have potential application in service development.

Abstract
Background Being diagnosed with cancer in childhood often has a direct impact on the child's opportunities to participate in activities and the child's sense of belonging in different life situations. Experiences of illness in youth affect the lives of these individuals in numerous ways and they need pronounced support to regain their normal life after treatment. Purpose To illustrate how childhood cancer survivors describe the role of the caring support provided by healthcare professionals at diagnosis and during the cancer trajectory. Methods A mixed methods approach was applied. Swanson's Theory of Caring was used to deductively analyze the answers in a study-specific questionnaire with Likert scales (1-5). Descriptive and comparative statistics and exploratory factor analyses were performed. Results Sixty-two former patients, diagnosed with solid tumors/lymphoma in 1983 to 2003 in Sweden, participated. The mean time passed since treatment was 15.7 years. Swanson's caring processes Being with and Doing for were the most prominent loading categorical factor indicators. Higher scores for healthcare professionals being emotionally present (Being with), doing for others what they would do for themselves (Doing for) and being willing to understand the sick child's situation (Knowing) were highlighted by survivors older than 30 years, compared to those younger than 30 years (p = 0.041, p = 0.045, and p = 0.013, respectively). An increased vulnerability regarding their ability to cope with difficulties (Maintain belief) was found among participants who were treated during adolescence, related to schoolchildren (p = 0.048), and among those who had been treated with extra-cranial irradiation in comparison with no extra-cranial irradiation (p = 0.004). The role of having a partner in comparison with being single was underlined among those who felt they had acquired the tools they needed to take care of themselves (Enabling) (p = 0.013). The total explained variance was 63%. Conclusions A person-centered care approach during treatment for childhood cancer, reflected by a caring model, highlights the role of healthcare professionals being emotionally present, involving children, performing actions, and with an approach that has potential long-term implications. Childhood cancer patients and survivors need not only clinically competent professionals, but professionals who provide caring interactions with compassion.

Abstract
PURPOSE The diagnosis of cancer in children can negatively impact their parents, owing to the complex treatment processes. Families with high levels of resilience can overcome these difficulties and thus perform higher family functions. We aimed to develop an internet-based family resilience-promoting program for parents of children with cancer and evaluate its effect on the levels of family resilience, depression, and family function. METHODS This prospective, parallel-group, randomized-controlled study that was conducted at Yonsei Cancer Center from June to October 2021 included 41 parents of children with cancer. In total, four sessions of the internet-based family resilience-promoting program, led by a nurse, were conducted individually for parents. Levels of family resilience, depression, and family function were measured before, immediately after, and 4 weeks after the program. The data were analyzed using the linear mixed-effect model, and program satisfaction was evaluated through an internet-based questionnaire and interview. RESULTS The experimental group (the family resilience-promoting program participants) differed more significantly from the control group in the level of change in family resilience (β = 13.214, p = 0.003, effect size = 0.374) and family function (β = 1.256, p = 0.018, effect size = 0.394). However, there was no significant difference between the groups in the level of depression (β = 2.133, p = 0.187, effect size = 0.416). All the program participants showed a high program satisfaction score of 4.75 out of 5.00 points overall. CONCLUSIONS The applicability of the internet-based family resilience-promoting program as an appropriate nursing intervention was verified. Its application can help the families of children with cancer adapt to the stressful situation of their children's cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract
Acquiring information about one's child's cancer diagnosis is a complex and ever-changing process, and parents' needs change over time. As yet, we know little about what information parents require at different stages of their child's illness. This paper is part of a larger randomized control trial studying the parent-centered information given to mothers and fathers. The aim of this paper was to describe the topics addressed in person-centered meetings between nurses and parents of children with cancer and how those changed over time. Using qualitative content analysis, we analyzed nurses' written summaries of 56 meetings with 16 parents and then computed for each topic the percentage of parents who brought it up at any time during the intervention. The main categories were Child's disease and treatment (addressed by 100% of parents), Consequences of treatment (88%), Emotional management for the child (75%), Emotional management for the parent (100%), Social life of the child (63%), and Social life of the parent (100%). Different topics were addressed at different points in time, and fathers raised more concerns about the child's emotional management and the consequences of treatment than mothers. This paper suggests that parental information demands change over time and differ between fathers and mothers, implying that information should be person-centered. Abstract
The purpose of the present study is to build a model combining some variables that have been previously studied separately to improve our understanding on how they relate in parents of children with cancer. A total of 112 parents with an average age of 41 completed the self-assessment questionnaires containing the factors studied: social support received, social support provided, stress, adjustment of parents and life satisfaction. Two models were developed: one for social support received and one for social support provided. Structural equation models based on the variance estimated through partial least squares were used to analyze factors involved in quality of life based on an exploratory model of second order. The estimated model was robust in terms of quality of measurement (reliability and validity). According to results from the structural model, in the model of social support received, the impact of social support received on stress was considerable (β = -0.26; p = 0.02) and it explained 16% of the variance. The impact of social support received by parents on their adjustment (β = -0.56; p < 0.001) was also considerable, explaining 32% of the variance. Finally, adjustment of parents also showed an effect on life satisfaction (β = -0.33; p < 0.001) and it explained 26% of the variance. However, the relation between social support received (β = 0.15; p = 0.11) and life satisfaction, the relation between stress (β = -0.15; p = 0.08) and life satisfaction, and the relation between adjustment of parents (β = 0.20; p = 0.07) and stress were not significant. In the model of social support provided by parents, social support provided (β = 0.35; p < 0.001), and adjustment of parents (β = -0.31; p < 0.01) impacted life satisfaction, explaining 36% of the variance. Social support provided (β = -0.34; p < 0.01) impacted adjustment of parents and it explained 12% of the variance. Adjustment of parents (β = 0.28; p < 0.05) also impacted parents' perception of stress, explaining 14% of the variance. However, the relation between social support provided (β = -0.17; p = 0.06) and stress, and the relation between stress (β = -0.13; p = 0.08) and life satisfaction, were not significant. Social support received showed a strong connection with stress and parents' adjustment. Additionally, social support received showed a decrease in stress and parents' adjustment. Social support provided by parents and the adjustments they experience are linked to their life satisfaction. Additionally, social support provided showed a decrease in adjustment and an increase in parents' life satisfaction. The models can be used to improve parents' situations and it has strong practical implications.

Abstract
PURPOSE To examine the experiences of parents who are caring for a child with a life-threatening or life-limiting illness (LTI/LLI) including levels of uncertainty, distress, hope, and self-efficacy to determine if there are significant variations with respect to demographic characteristics. DESIGN AND METHODS Data for this analysis are derived from a quasi-experimental evaluation of a support intervention with a purposeful sample of parental caregivers from a western Canadian province. Participants completed a demographic survey and four quantitative measures at baseline and following use of the support intervention. RESULTS Many parents had high scores of hope and self-efficacy, with highest levels of hope amongst parents who could stay at home with their children, and higher self-efficacy expressed by parents without financial concerns. Increased levels of uncertainty and distress were found amongst parents without other children living in the home, and those with financial concerns, respectively. CONCLUSIONS This exploratory analysis found that many parents experienced clinically significant distress along with uncertainty. The results determined that caring for children in the home other than the ill child significantly decreased uncertainty. High levels of parental hope and self-efficacy were frequently identified, with variations reflecting differences in social roles and stressors. The results contribute to an increased understanding of the value of support resources including parental leave and financial support. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS Pediatric nurses may consider adopting an approach to caring for families with children in treatment for LLIs/LTIs that gives high priority to promoting hope and self-efficacy while ensuring access to support resources.

Abstract
Nursing is a vital health profession. In almost all clinical and hospital settings, nurses offer primary palliative care. Nurses are recognized for their strong philosophy of care for a wide spectrum of disorders. No matter the sickness, condition, or clinical situation, palliative care is considered essential in nursing practice. Palliative care nursing is the provision of palliative care services to cancer patients and their families, regardless of whether cancer can be cured or not. A large body of evidence shows that early palliative care nursing integration improves the quality of life and survival of cancer patients. Due to the intricacy of cancer, the landscape of cancer care is shifting. Cancer is a life-threatening disease with a high mortality rate. Oncology nurses' skills and experience are vital in providing specialized patient care and fulfilling the needs of patients and their families. The current study examines the shifting environment of palliative care nursing in oncology. However, new palliative care nursing approaches are required to adapt to the evolving cancer scenario.

Abstract
Introduction The present study aims at analysing how social support received and provided by parents of children, adolescents and young adults (AYA) diagnosed with cancer, as well as their sociodemographic and clinical variables, affect those parents’ stress levels and life and family satisfaction. Materials and Methods A total of 112 parents of children and AYAs who had been diagnosed with cancer and who received treatment in Malaga participated in the study. In the study, participated all parents who voluntarily agreed to fulfil the questionnaire. The main inclusion criterion was that their child had cancer. Instruments used were Questionnaire on the Frequency of and Satisfaction with Social Support (QFSSS), Paediatric Inventory for Parents (PIP), Life Satisfaction Scale and Family Satisfaction Scale. Results In the mean difference analyses, male parents showed 3.38 (SD = 0.56) in social support received and female parents showed M = 3.08 (SD = 0.72). Conversely, in social support provided, female parents showed 3.22 and male parents showed M = 3.55 (p = 0.020). Significant differences were also found in family satisfaction, where female parents (M = 3.64) feel more satisfied than male parents (M = 3.06; p = 0.027). Parents of children aged between 0 and 14 years (M = 3.06) feel more stress than those parents of children aged 15–21 (M = 2.61; p = 0.021). The correlation analysis shows that there is a negative and significant relation between stress levels experienced by parents when facing different situations related to the child’s disease and both types of support, received r = −0.411, p < 0.001 and provided r = −0.282, p < 0.01. There is also a positive and significant relation between life satisfaction and social support received r = 0.292, p < 0.01, and social support provided r = 0.409, p < 0.001. There is a positive and significant relation between family satisfaction and social support received r = 0.330, p < 0.01, in the same way as with social support provided r = 0.222, p < 0.05. The regression analysis related to stress levels of parents indicates that social support received predicts levels of stress significantly p < 0.001, with the variable of number of children being the one that showed to be significant p < 0.05. Social support provided showed the most significant results p = 0.001, meaning that social support provided increased life satisfaction. Social support received explains family satisfaction (p = 0.50), as it increases the family satisfaction of parents of children with cancer. Discussion Analysing social support received and provided, as well as sociodemographic and clinical variables, allowed us to broaden the knowledge on the effect social support has on stress levels, life satisfaction and family satisfaction in parents of children and AYAs diagnosed with cancer. This may have relevant practical implications for the design of interventions that would improve parents’ lives.

Abstract
PURPOSE To describe the experiences of Turkish parents of hospitalized children with cancer during the COVID-19 pandemic. PARTICIPANTS & SETTING Participants were recruited at the pediatric hematology-oncology clinic of a university hospital in Turkey. A purposive sampling strategy was used to identify participants. Parents who had a child aged 0-18 years with cancer were eligible. METHODOLOGIC APPROACH This study was conducted using a descriptive qualitative research design. Semistructured individual interviews with 14 parents of children with cancer were used for data collection. Data were analyzed using the content analysis method. FINDINGS Two main themes with related subthemes were identified that revealed the lived experiences of parents of children with cancer. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING Pediatric oncology nurses can develop clinical practices that help parents to cope with anxiety about COVID-19. Nurses should share with parents current and valid information about the child's care during the pandemic. Future research should examine the experiences of children with cancer and their parents from different cultures during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract
PURPOSE Information can help parents of children with cancer by reducing uncertainty and giving them a sense of control in a chaotic situation. Although providing information to parents is a core activity of paediatric oncology nursing, few studies focus on interventions for informing parents. Thus, the aim of this study is to evaluate parents' experiences after participating in a person-centred information intervention for parents of children with cancer. METHOD This study is part of a process evaluation of a person-centred informational intervention in paediatric oncology for patients' parents. Qualitative semi-structured interviews with 13 parents who had taken part in the intervention were analysed using qualitative content analysis. RESULTS An opening for healing emerged as the overarching theme, consisting of three categories. Gaining a deeper understanding of the entire situation describes how parents benefitted from processing current topics and moving forward by learning. Caring reflections in a safe space describes how parents appreciated having a moment just for themselves and feeling better by venting their feelings. Meeting a competent and compassionate nurse describes how parents experienced trust and being listened to. CONCLUSION Having individual information meetings integrated as a primary nursing responsibility, mediated by competent and compassionate nurses also responsible for the care of the child, could enhance person-centred care and individualise parental education.

Abstract
Introduction: Children and adolescents/young adults (AYAs) with cancer are a vulnerable population susceptible to numerous late effects, such as fatigue and depression, which may diminish their long-term psychological, physical, spiritual, and emotional health. A well-rounded understanding of how positive psychological constructs affect the quality of care and treatment outcomes is therefore warranted. Methods: We conducted a scoping review of 15 positive psychological constructs in children and AYAs with cancer. The primary research questions were (1) what is known about positive psychological constructs in children and AYAs with cancer; (2) what value is ascribed to these constructs by patients? Results: Two hundred seventy-six articles were included after database search and screening. These studies were mostly observational or qualitative and conducted in North America. Constructs were often poorly defined, and measurement tools used to gather data were wide ranging. Numerous factors were correlated with increased or decreased expression of certain constructs, but overall themes were difficult to identify. Similarly, patients often spoke of what increased or decreased expression of a construct, with less emphasis on what they implicitly value. Discussion: This scoping review found ample evidence for what increases or decreases expression of positive psychological constructs, but this evidence was observational and often conflicting. In the future, we recommend the development of a core set of psychological outcomes, with definitions and corresponding measurement tools. We further recommend an emphasis on randomized trials to more rigorously study how expression of constructs can be improved and what effect this has on the quality of life.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION patient satisfaction is a quality of care predictor that allows to identify specific areas of improvement. Frequently, parents are who provide this information when their children are too young or cannot communicate. The aim of the study was to determine parents' satisfaction with paediatric oncology care and its relationship with sociodemographic variables. MATERIAL AND METHODS a cross-sectional observational study was carried out. Parents whose children suffered from cancer and were treated in the oncology ward and oncology day hospital in Asturias were included. A questionnaire with sociodemographic variables and the Cuestionario de Calidad de Cuidados de Enfermería (CUCACE), that evaluates experience and satisfaction with care through two dimensions (range from 0 to 100), were used. RESULTS 24 parents agreed to particape. The average in experience dimension of CUCACE was 88,99 and 87,01 in satisfaction. All participants referred as positive the treat received at the units, however, 41,7% declared it should be enhanced. No relationship between satisfaction and sociodemographic variables were found. CONCLUSIONS Parents of children with cancer demonstrated high satisfaction with care. Information and communication with medical staff need to be strengthened.

Abstract
Aim To provide insights into nurses lived experiences in caring for children with cancer. Background Little is known about the paediatric oncology nurses shared practices of caring for children with cancer in Ghana. Design A hermeneutic phenomenological qualitative study. Methods A semi-structured interview with 14 purposely sampled Ghanaian paediatric oncology nurses. Findings were analysed using Diekelman, Allen and Tanner's approach. Results The theme "Striving to reduce suffering" and three relational subthemes: "knowing children's needs," "Rendering a hopeful fight" and "Ensuring continuity and coordination of care" emerged. Increased awareness of this phenomenon for the nurses who care for these children is vital to ensure quality and holistic care that is meaningful and satisfying by nurses for children with cancer. Paediatric oncology nurses can use the result of the study to evaluate their caring practice and as an avenue to develop better caring practice.
