Abstract
(1) Background: Headaches in health professionals have been studied over the years. This has become even more relevant during the COVID-19 pandemic, due to their link with the use of masks, being female or working in highly complex units. However, their association with different personality traits has not been studied in healthcare workers (HCWs). The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence and evolution of headaches throughout the pandemic in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurses and to analyze their association with sociodemographic, occupational and personality variables as well as with other symptoms. (2) Methods: This was an observational, descriptive, longitudinal, prospective study with two periods of data collection (at the end of the containment phase and six months thereafter). A non-probabilistic convenience sampling was performed (n = 131). (3) Results: A high percentage of ICU nurses reported headaches during the first (71%) or second (79.4%) time point; more than half of the sample (58.8%) reported headaches over time (chronic headache). Although a higher prevalence of headaches was observed in women at both assessment points, no significant gender-related relationships were observed for headaches maintained across the two time points. Regarding the symptoms and personality variables, positive relationships were found between headaches and anxiety (p = 0.005), insomnia (p = 0.030) and emotional exhaustion (p = 0.022), and a negative relationship was found between headaches and hardiness (p = 0.031). (4) Conclusions: Our study highlights the importance of assessing occupational, psychological and emotional aspects in order to decrease the prevalence of headaches and thus improve the quality of the work life of nurses in such demanding environments as the ICU.

Abstract
Objective This study examined the prevalence of migraine in nurses in Japan, which, to our knowledge, has not been documented in English. Methods From April to May 2021, we administered a questionnaire to 229 nurses working at Keio University Hospital to investigate the prevalence and characteristics of headache among nurses in Japan. Headaches were classified as migraine or tension-type headache (TTH) based on the International Classification of Headache Disorders 3rd edition (ICHD-3). Results In total, 80 patients (34.9%) had primary headaches, including 47 (20.5%) with migraine and probable migraine and 33 (14.4%) with TTH and probable TTH. We found a significant difference in the Numerical Rating Scale score, nausea and vomiting, photophobia, phonophobia, and aggravation by routine physical activity between migraine and TTH. The specificities for a migraine diagnosis were 100% and 93.9% for nausea/vomiting and photophobia, respectively. Only 8.8% of patients had their headaches diagnosed by a physician. Conclusion Migraines have a high prevalence (>20%) among nurses and are often under-diagnosed. In many cases, headache-associated symptoms are more important than laterality or other characteristics for the diagnosis. Many nurses are treated for headaches without a correct diagnosis. Further education regarding primary headaches may be necessary for health practitioners as well as society.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To explore whether changes in work schedule, number of night shifts and number of quick returns were related to changes in headache frequencies. METHODS A longitudinal study with questionnaire data from 2014 (baseline) and 2017 (follow-up) on work schedule (day only, shift work without nights and shift work with nights), number of night shifts, number of quick returns (less than 11 hours in-between shifts) and validated headache diagnoses among 1104 Norwegian nurses. Associations were explored by adjusted multivariate regression analyses. RESULTS The median age at baseline was 37 years (IQR 31-43) and 90.5% were women. In the adjusted logistic regression analysis of changed work schedule between baseline and follow-up, changing from night work was associated with increased odds for reversion from headache >1 days/month to no headache at all last year (OR 2.77 (1.29; 5.95)). Changes towards less night shifts (>10) or quick returns (>10) during the last year were associated with increased odds of reversion of headache to no headache (OR 2.23 (1.20; 4.17) and OR 1.90 (1.04; 3.49)). Only decrease in number of night shifts (>10) during the last year reduced risk of onset of any new headache between baseline and follow-up (OR of 0.39 (0.18; 0.84)). CONCLUSION Changing from night work and reducing the number of night shifts and quick returns were associated with less headache in this 3-year-follow-up of Norwegian nurses. This adds to the growing body of evidence that night work may have direct negative health consequences.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Shift work is associated with musculoskeletal pain and headaches, but little is known about how the intensity of shift work exposure is related to musculoskeletal pain and headaches. This study aimed to investigate whether a higher proportion of night shifts is associated with a higher occurrence of musculoskeletal pain and headaches. Furthermore, to investigate whether sleep duration can mediate this potential association. METHOD The study included 684 nurses in rotating shift work who responded to a daily questionnaire about working hours, sleep, and pain for 28 consecutive days. The data were treated cross-sectionally. RESULTS A negative binomial regression analysis adjusted for age and BMI revealed that working a higher proportion of night shifts is not associated with a higher occurrence of musculoskeletal pain and headaches. On the contrary, those working ≥ 50% night shifts had a significantly lower occurrence of pain in the lower extremities than those who worked < 25% night shifts (IRR 0.69 95% CI 0.51, 0.94). There was no indication of a mediation effect with total sleep time (TST). CONCLUSION The results of this study indicate that working a higher proportion of night shifts is not associated with a higher occurrence of musculoskeletal pain and headaches.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The preset study aimed to explore whether work schedules and sleep disorders predict the onset of headache. METHODS A longitudinal study was conducted with questionnaire data from 2014 (baseline) and 2017 (follow-up) on work schedule, number of night shifts, number of quick returns, insomnia, shift work disorder (SWD), restless legs syndrome (RLS) and validated headache diagnoses among 1560 Norwegian nurses. Associations were explored by multivariate regression analyses. RESULTS Work related factors at baseline did not predict onset of headache three years later. In the adjusted logistic regressions, insomnia at baseline predicted increased risk of new onset of migraine (odds ratio (OR) = 1.58; 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.08-2.33), chronic headache (OR = 2.02; 95% CI = 1.04-4.66) and medication-overuse headache (OR = 3.79; 95% CI = 1.26-11.42) at follow-up. SWD at baseline predicted new onset of migraine (OR = 1.64; 95% CI = 1.07-2.50) and RLS at baseline predicted new onset of headache ≥1 day per month (OR = 1.55; 95% CI = 1.01-2.36) and migraine (OR = 1.55; 95% CI = 1.03-2.32) at follow-up. No factors predicted tension-type headache. CONCLUSIONS Overall, work related factors did not predict the onset of headache three years later, whereas insomnia, SWD and RLS at baseline all increased the risk of future headaches.

Abstract
Introduction Migraine, a prevalent condition in Saudi Arabia, is linked to various risk factors, including night shifts. Existing literature, mainly outdated, suggests conflicting findings on the relationship between sleep, night shifts, and migraines. Our study aims to investigate the specific association between shift work and migraine attacks among healthcare workers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), addressing a notable research gap. Methodology This is a cross-sectional study conducted in Saudi Arabia. Data were collected by using a non-probability convenience sampling technique. Data were collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS version 26 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY). Results Our study on 342 healthcare workers in the KSA revealed the majority of participants were females (70.5%, n = 241), aged between 25 and 29 years (38.9%, n = 133), with doctors being the predominant profession (51.5%, n = 176). Participants had an average of 5.9 years of healthcare experience. Work shifts included rotating (43.3%, n = 148), day (48%, n = 164), evening (3.8%, n = 13), and night shifts (5%, n = 17). Notably, 89.2% (n = 305) experienced headaches with varying characteristics and triggers. Management strategies included over-the-counter painkillers (56.1%, n = 192) and rest (50.5%, n = 173). Gender was significantly associated with migraines (p = 0.020), while night shift frequency and years in health care showed no significant associations. Higher weekly working hours relate significantly to migraines (p = 0.034). Conclusion Our study highlights a significant association between migraines and gender, with females being more prone. Night shift frequency and years in health care showed no significant associations, while higher weekly working hours were linked to migraines.

Abstract
Introduction Headache is a common public health problem, but its burden could be avoided by raising headache awareness and the appropriate use of acute medication and prophylactic medication. Few reports on raising headache awareness in the general public have been reported, and there are no reports on headache awareness campaigns through social networking services (SNS), or social media, in Japan. We prospectively performed a headache awareness campaign from March 2022 through 2 SNS, targeting nurse and wind instrumental musicians, because they are with high headache prevalence. Methods Through the 2 SNS, the article and video were distributed, respectively. The article and video described the 6 important topics for the general public about headaches, which were described in the Clinical Practice Guideline for Headache Disorders 2021. Just after reading or watching them as e-learning, we performed online questionnaire sheets to investigate the awareness of the 6 topics through the 2 SNS. The awareness of the 6 topics before and after the campaign was evaluated. Results In the SNS nurse-senka, we obtained 1191 responses. Women comprised 94.4%, and the median (range) age was 45 (20 to 71) years old. Headache sufferers were 63.8%, but only 35.1% had consulted doctors. In the SNS Creatone, we got the response from 134 professional musicians, with 77.3% of women. The largest number of respondents were in their 20s (range 18-60 years old). Headache sufferers were 87.9%. Of them, 36.4% had consulted doctors, 24.2% were medication-overuse headache. The ratios of individuals who were aware of the 6 topics significantly increased from 15.2%-47.0% to 80.4-98.7% after the online questionnaire in both SNS (p < 0.001, all). Conclusion E-learning and online survey via SNS can improve headache awareness.

Abstract
Objective This cross-sectional survey aimed to investigate the prevalence of depression among medical staff and its risk factors as well as the association between depression, anxiety, headache, and sleep disorders. Methods Stratified random cluster sampling was used to select medical staff from various departments of four hospitals in Sanya City. The Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were used to quantitatively assess depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders. Correlation and regression analyses were performed to determine factors affecting the depression occurrence and scores. Results Among 645 medical staff members, 548 (85%) responded. The 1-year prevalence of depression was 42.7% and the prevalence of depression combined with anxiety, headache, and sleep disorders was 23, 27, and 34.5%, respectively. The prevalence of depression in women, nurses, the unmarried or single group, and the rotating-shift population was significantly higher than that in men (48.3% vs. 27.1%, odds ratio OR = 2.512), doctors (55.2% vs. 26.7%, OR = 3.388), the married group (50.5% vs. 35.8%, OR = 1.900), and the day-shift population (35.2% vs. 7.5%, OR = 1.719). The occurrence of depression was correlated with anxiety, sleep disorders, headache, and migraines, with anxiety having the highest correlation (Spearman's Rho = 0.531). The SDS was significantly correlated with the SAS and PSQI (Spearman's Rho = 0.801, 0.503) and was also related to the presence of headache and migraine (Spearman Rho = 0.228, 0.159). Multiple logistic regression indicated that nurse occupation and anxiety were risk factors for depression, while grades of anxiety, sleep disorders and nurse occupation were risk factors for the degree of depression in multiple linear regression. Conclusion The prevalence of depression among medical staff was higher than that in the general population, especially among women, nurses, unmarried people, and rotating-shift workers. Depression is associated with anxiety, sleep disorders, headache, and migraines. Anxiety and nursing occupation are risk factors for depression. This study provides a reference for the promotion of occupational health among medical professionals.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Among all menstruation-associated headaches, only menstrual migraine has classification criteria in the International Classification of Headache Disorders 3rd edition (ICHD-3). Other menstruation-associated headaches are not generally described. The ICHD-3 classifies menstrual migraine according to headache type, timing(on days -2 to +3 of menstruation), frequency (whether headache occurs in at least two out of three menstrual cycles), and purity(whether headache occurs at other times of the menstrual cycle), and provides a reference for research on menstruation-associated headache. However, the role of frequency and purity in the classification of menstruation- associated headache is not clear Moreover, the potential risk factors for high-frequency and pure headaches have not been explored. METHODS The study was a secondary analysis of an epidemiological survey on menstrual migraine among nurses. Among nurses who had a headache on days -2 to +3 of menstruation, headache frequency, purity, and type were described. High-frequency vs. low-frequency and pure vs. impure headache were compared according to headache features, demographics, occupation-related factors, menstruation-related factors, and lifestyle factors. RESULTS Of all respondents, 254(18.3%) nurses who had headaches on days -2 to +3 of menstruation were included in the study. In the 254 nurses with perimenstrual headache, the proportions of migraine, tension type headache (TTH), high-frequency headache, and pure headache were 24.4%, 26.4%, 39.0%, and 42.1%, respectively. High-frequency and impure perimenstrual headache was more severe and similar to migraine. High-frequency headache was associated with more perimenstrual extremity swelling and generalized pain. Other variables were not significantly different between the groups. CONCLUSIONS Headache except for menstrual migraine accounts for a certain proportion of menstruation-associated headache and should not be ignored in research. Headache frequency and purity are related to headache type and should be equally considered in the classification of menstruation- associated headache. Perimenstrual extremity swelling and generalized pain are potential indicators of high-frequency perimenstrual headache. TRIAL REGISTRATION ChiCTR2200056429.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aims were to explore the prevalence and clinical features of fibromyalgia in Chinese hospital patients with primary headache. BACKGROUND Studies done in non-Chinese populations suggest that around one-third of patients with primary headache have fibromyalgia, but data from mainland China are limited. Investigations into the prevalence and clinical features of fibromyalgia in Chinese patients with primary headache would improve our understanding of these two complex disease areas and help guide future clinical practice. METHODS This cross-sectional study included adults with primary headache treated at 23 Chinese hospitals from September 2020 to May 2021. Fibromyalgia was diagnosed using the modified 2010 American College of Rheumatology criteria. Mood and insomnia were evaluated employing the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale and the Insomnia Severity Index. RESULTS A total of 2782 participants were analyzed. The fibromyalgia prevalence was 6.0% (166/2782; 95% confidence interval: 5.1%, 6.8%). Compared to primary headache patients without combined fibromyalgia, patients with primary headache combined with fibromyalgia were more likely to be older (47.8 vs. 41.7 years), women (83.7% [139/166] vs. 72.8% [1904/2616]), less educated (65.1% [108/166] vs. 45.2% [1183/2616]), and with longer-duration headache (10.0 vs. 8.0 years). Such patients were more likely to exhibit comorbid depression (34.3% [57/166] vs. 9.9% [260/2616]), anxiety (16.3% [27/166] vs. 2.7% [70/2612]), and insomnia (58.4% [97/166] vs. 17.1% [447/2616]). Fibromyalgia was more prevalent in those with chronic (rather than episodic) migraine (11.1% [46/414] vs. 4.4% [72/1653], p < 0.001) and chronic (rather than episodic) tension-type headache (11.5% [27/235] vs. 4.6% [19/409], p = 0.001). Most fibromyalgia pain was in the shoulders, neck, and upper back. CONCLUSIONS The prevalence of fibromyalgia in mainland Chinese patients with primary headache was 6.0%. Fibromyalgia was more common in those with chronic rather than episodic headache. The most common sites of fibromyalgia pain were the neck, shoulders, and back.

Abstract
Migraine is a complex condition in which genetic predisposition interacts with other biological and environmental factors determining its course. A hyperresponsive brain cortex, peripheral and central alterations in pain processing, and comorbidities play a role from an individual biological standpoint. Besides, dysfunctional psychological mechanisms, social and lifestyle factors may intervene and impact on the clinical phenotype of the disease, promote its transformation from episodic into chronic migraine and may increase migraine-related disability.Thus, given the multifactorial origin of the condition, the application of a biopsychosocial approach in the management of migraine could favor therapeutic success. While in chronic pain conditions the biopsychosocial approach is already a mainstay of treatment, in migraine the biomedical approach is still dominant. It is instead advisable to carefully consider the individual with migraine as a whole, in order to plan a tailored treatment. In this review, we first reported an analytical and critical discussion of the biological, psychological, and social factors involved in migraine. Then, we addressed the management implications of the application of a biopsychosocial model discussing how the integration between non-pharmacological management and conventional biomedical treatment may provide advantages to migraine care.

Abstract
Objective This study is oriented to study the correlation between different vestibular symptoms and migraine and non-migraine headaches. Materials and Methods A questionnaire containing factors related to vestibular symptoms and migraine was designed to survey nurses in a tertiary hospital. Then, all study subjects were divided into three groups: no headache, migraine, and non-migraine headache, and the general physical condition and incidence of different vestibular symptoms were compared among the three groups. Results Among all the 708 subjects, 233 had headaches. The incidence of migraine was 13.3%. There were 235 cases had vestibular symptoms. Dizziness and vertigo are independent factors related to headaches, especially migraine. The risk of migraine and other types of headaches in the vertigo group is 2.808 and 2.526 times of those without vertigo, while in the dizziness group, the risk is 8.248 and 5.732 times of those without dizziness. Conclusion Different vestibular symptoms were all related to migraine. And different vestibular symptoms and non-migraine headaches also showed a clear correlation.

Abstract
PurposeNurses' health is vital for retaining nurses in the profession. However, lack of study has examined how headaches and professional commitment interact to impact professional turnover intention. This study aims to examine the moderating effect of nurses' headaches on the relationship among professional commitment factors (affective professional commitment, continuance professional commitment and normative professional commitment) and nurses' professional turnover intention.Design/methodology/approachThis study employed a two-wave design and questionnaires to survey 524 nurses from a large medical center in Taiwan during February and March 2017 (the first wave) and June and August 2017 (the second wave). Headaches were measured using descriptions formulated by the International Headache Society. Items measuring other constructs came from relevant literature. Regression analysis was used to assess relationships between the constructs.FindingsAll aspects of professional commitment are negatively related to professional turnover intention (B [CI] = −0.47 [−0.58, −0.36], −0.20 [−0.29, −0.11], −0.22 [−0.32, −0.12], p < 0.001). Headaches reduce the negative relation between affective professional commitment and professional turnover intention (B [CI] = 0.14 [0.02,0.27], p = 0.02).Practical implicationsHeadaches could interfere with nurses' commitment to the nursing profession and influence nurses' intention to leave. Managers should seek means to help alleviate nurses' headaches.Originality/valueThis study is the first to examine how headaches and professional commitment interact to influence nurses' professional turnover intention.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Headache is an adverse event of coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination. Whether patients with history of headache suffer more from vaccination-induced headaches is unknown. We aimed to uncover if headache patients develop more headaches after COVID-19 mRNA vaccination than healthy controls. METHODS We performed a questionnaire survey for nursing staff in our hospital from April to May 2021. Based on baseline characteristics, we divided the participants into migraine, non-migrainous headache, and healthy control, and examined the occurrence and features of headache after COVID-19 vaccinations. RESULTS We included 171 participants (15.2% migraine and 24.6% non-migrainous headache). Headache incidence after vaccinations was significantly higher in the migraine (69.2%) and non-migrainous headache (71.4%) groups than in the healthy control (37.9%) group. The incidence of headaches was significantly higher after the second dose compared to the first (45.6% vs. 20.5%). CONCLUSION Migraineurs and non-migrainous headache participants developed more headaches compared to the healthy controls after COVID-19 vaccination.

Abstract
Objective
Nursing profession is subject to occupational stress, which can be a trigger for headaches. Our study aimed to study the prevalence of migraine, its characteristics, triggers, and relieving factors among nursing students in a tertiary care center.
Materials and Methods
This study was performed in a super-specialty hospital in South India. A structured questionnaire captured data on the occurrence of headache, demographics, aura, triggering factors, relieving factors, and lifestyle habits. Results are presented in numbers and percentage.
Results
A total of 20% of nursing students in the study had headache of which 85% had migraine. Weekly and daily attacks were reported in 12 and 4% students, respectively. Twenty-two percent had headache severity of more than 5 visual analogue scale. Most common accompanying symptoms were photophobia (80%), phonophobia (70%), nausea (75%), vomiting (71%), neck pain (25%), and vertigo (20%). Thirty-nine percent had auras. Ninety-five percent reported triggers with 70% students having more than one trigger. Sleep was the relieving factor in 69%, head massage in 50%, and relaxing from work in 48%.
Conclusion
The most common type of primary headache in nurses in our study was migraine. More than three-fourths nurses reported triggers and relieving factors. Addressing these factors could help in managing migraines and help in improving the quality of life and increased work productivity of nurses.

Abstract
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has led to a pandemic, which among other things, has highlighted biosafety as a key cornerstone in the management of disease transmission. The aim of this work was to analyze the role played by different blood biomarkers in predicting the appearance of headaches in healthcare workers wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in a COVID-19 treatment unit. A prospective cohort study of 38 healthcare workers was performed during April 2020. Blood analysis, performed just before the start of a 4 hour shift, was carried out on all volunteers equipped with PPE. At the end of their shifts and after decontamination, they were asked if they had suffered from headache in order to obtain a binary outcome. The baseline creatinine value reflected a specific odds ratio of 241.36 (95% CI: 2.50-23,295.43; p = 0.019) and an area under the curve (AUC) value of 0.737 (95%CI: 0.57-0.90; p < 0.01). Blood creatinine is a good candidate for predicting the appearance of a de novo headache in healthcare workers after wearing PPE for four hours in a COVID-19 unit.

Abstract
Objective To investigate the manifestations and incidence of headaches caused by heroin
in Chinese women. Methods This was a survey study conducted from 29 June to 3 July 2015 with women
attending the Shanxi Drug Rehabilitation Centre for Women (China). All study
subjects were newly admitted and had not begun their drug rehabilitation.
Demographic characteristics, heroin usage and headache episodes within the
previous 3 months were surveyed, especially the presence of a headache
within 2 hours of heroin use. Details of the severity, location, premonitory
symptoms and characteristics of headaches were recorded. Results Of the 90 heroin-dependent patients, 74 experienced headache attacks within 2
hours of heroin use, and the headaches subsided within 72 hours of
discontinuation of heroin use. Most heroin-induced headaches were similar to
migraines and manifested as pulsating pain in 54 patients (51/74, 68.9%);
bilateral pain was reported by 46 patients (46/74, 62.2%). Approximately
half of the patients with heroin-induced headaches also reported
accompanying symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and light and sound
sensitivity. Conclusions Heroin-induced headache may eventually be listed as a new class of headache
in the International Classification of Headache Disorders.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To date, there have been very few studies that have explored the relationship between headaches and computer use. The chief aim of this study is to investigate the prevalence of primary headache disorders among informational technology staff and identify the potential factors contributing to it. METHODS This is a cross-sectional study based on annual health checks of employees from the information technology industry. We identified 2216 information technology staff members from Beijing by stratified random sampling who met the inclusion criteria. All participants were initially required to have a physical examination, after which they complete a general situation questionnaire that included a headache screening question. Those who had suffered from headache within the previous year also completed the questionnaire developed by Lifting the Burden. The International Classification of Headache Disorders 3(ICHD-3) criteria was used for the diagnosis of headache. RESULTS A total of 2012 valid questionnaires (males, 1544 [76.7%]; females, 468 [23.3%]) were obtained from 2216 participants for a response rate of 90.8%. A total of 619 participants were diagnosed with primary headache, the one-year prevalence of which was 30.8%. Regarding the classification of the primary headache, 152 participants suffered from migraine, with a one-year prevalence of 7.6%; 440 and 27 suffered from tension-type headache and unclassified headaches, with one-year prevalences of 21.9 and 1.3%, respectively. Multivariate regression analysis showed that female gender was a risk factor for migraine and tension-type headache (OR 3.21[95% CI 2.28-4.53] and 1.88[95% CI 1.47-2.40], respectively). Age was also related to migraine and tension-type headache. The 41-50 age group had 2.02 times the probability of migraine, and the 31-40 age group had 1.89 times the probability of tension-type headaches compared to the 18-30 age group. Obesity and excessive computer use (more than 12 h per day) were also factors contributing to tension-type headache (OR: 2.61[95% CI 1.91-3.56] and 1.63[95% CI 1.18-2.25], respectively). CONCLUSIONS The one-year prevalence of primary headache in this population was 30.8%. The prevalence of tension-type headache in this population was higher than that in the general Chinese population. The occurrence of primary headache is correlated with many factors, among which excessive computer use significantly contributed to the risk of tension-type headache.

Abstract
BACKGROUND A previous study by our team reported the prevalence of primary headache disorders and factors associated with headache among nurses in three hospitals in North China. The aim of this cross-sectional survey was to learn more about how medical nurses in South China were affected by headache. Additionally, we determined the prevalence of headache and measured the impact of headache among doctors in mainland China for the first time. METHODS Stratified random cluster sampling was used to select 280 physicians and 365 nurses from various departments in four hospitals in Sanya, which is one of southernmost cities in China. Information was collected on demographic data, occupational factors and headache characteristics by using a structured questionnaire. RESULTS Among 645 medical staff, 548 (85%) responded (doctors = 240, nurses = 308). Among the medical staff, the 1-year prevalence of primary headache disorders was 50%, with 25.9% experiencing migraine and 24.1% experiencing tension-type headache (TTH). The prevalence of migraine in female doctors was higher than that in female nurses, although this difference was not significant (32.4% vs. 29.8%, P = 0.628). Multivariate analysis showed that being female and working in other specialties (Emergency Department & Radiology Department) remained independent risk factors for migraine in doctors (OR 2.314 and 3.223). In nurses, being married was a risk factor for migraine (OR 3.728), and job titles remained an independent risk factor for migraine and TTH (OR 2.294 and 4.695). Working more than 6 night-shifts per month was associated with an increased prevalence of migraine and TTH in doctors; the same was true in nurses for migraine, but not for TTH. CONCLUSION The prevalence of primary headache disorders in both nurses and doctors is higher than that in the general population in South China. Our study shows that occupation, geography and sex may play an important role. Further, female doctors are more susceptible than female nurses to migraine. The risk factors relevant to headache that were found in this study should provide an important reference for promoting occupational health in medical staff, especially female doctors in China.

Abstract
PURPOSE We investigated the effect of shift work on headache. Furthermore, we investigated whether the association between shift work and headache was explained by potential mediators in terms of perceived stress, poor sleep and health behaviors. METHODS In this longitudinal study, we used questionnaire data (collected in 2007 and 2009) from civil servants and hospital employees from the PRISME study. 2952 individuals were available for the analyses of shift work and headache and 2272 individuals were available for the analyses of shift work and migraine. Headache was operationalized as the participants' experience of "being bothered by headache during the past 4 weeks". Migraine was operationalized as "ever being diagnosed with migraine by a medical doctor". We used binary logistic regression to compare shift workers with permanent day workers and adjusted for socio-demographic factors. In a subsequent step, we adjusted for potential mediators. RESULTS We found higher odds of unspecific headache (OR = 1.25; 95% CI 1.02-1.54) and migraine (OR = 1.72; 95% CI 1.04-2.86) among shift workers compared with day workers. Our results suggest that the effect of shift work on headache and migraine differ between men and women. Inclusion of potential mediators in the analyses did not attenuate the associations. CONCLUSION Shift workers have higher risk of reporting being bothered by headache as well as reporting being diagnosed with migraine. Future research is needed to disentangle the underlying mechanisms with the aim of reducing headache related to occupational exposures.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Migraine is a chronic neurological disorder characterized by recurrent attacks of headache, mainly affecting the working age population with a great socioeconomic impact. The etiology of migraine is still uncertain, and various individual and/or environmental risk factors have been suggested as triggers of the attacks, including irregularities in the sleep-wake rhythm. In this perspective, it is possible that shift and night work, affecting circadian rhythms, may play a key function in the disease pathogenesis. Therefore, aim of this review was to provide an overview on the possible association between shift works and migraine development or clinical outcomes. METHODS A systematic review of literature studies available in Pubmed, Scopus, and ISI Web of Science databases, addressing the possible shift work-migraine relationship was performed. RESULTS Conflicting data emerged from the revised studies. Some results supported a positive association between migraine prevalence and shift works, according to peculiar job tasks, seniority in shift works, specific work schedules, and number of night shifts performed in a month. However, other investigations failed to confirm such findings. CONCLUSIONS The limited number of available studies, their cross-sectional nature, the different criteria employed for migraine diagnosis, and the various shift work schedules analyzed, together with exposure to other confounding factors on workplace do not allow to extrapolate definite conclusions on shift work-migraine relationship. From an occupational health perspective, further studies appear necessary to better understand such exposure-disease association and possibly define risk assessment and management strategies to protect the health of susceptible and/or migraine affected workers.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To investigate associations between different types of headaches and shift work. DESIGN, PARTICIPANTS AND OUTCOME MEASURES Nurses with different work schedules (day work, two-shift rotation, night work, three-shift rotation) participated in a cohort study with annual surveys that started in 2008/2009. In 2014 (wave 6), a comprehensive headache instrument was included in the survey, in which 1585 nurses participated. Headaches were assessed according to the International Classification of Headache Disorders IIIb. Frequent headache (≥1 day per month), migraine, tension-type headache, chronic headache (headache >14 days per month) and medication-overuse headache (chronic headache + acute headache medication ≥10 days last month) comprised the dependent variables. Adjusted (for sex, age, percentage of full-time equivalent, marital status, children living at home) logistic regression analyses were conducted with work schedule, number of night shifts worked last year, number of quick returns (<11 hours in-between shifts) last year, shift work disorder and insomnia disorder as predictors. RESULTS Frequent headache, migraine and chronic headache were associated with shift work disorder (OR 2.04, 95% CI 1.62 to 2.59; 1.60, 1.21 to 2.12; 2.45, 1.25 to 4.80, respectively) and insomnia disorder (OR 1.79, 95% CI 1.43 to 2.23; 1.55, 1.18 to 2.02; 3.03, 1.54 to 5.95, respectively), but not with work schedule, number of night shifts or number of quick returns. Tension-type headache was only associated with >20 night shifts last year (OR 1.41, 95% CI 1.07 to 1.86). Medication-overuse headache was only associated with insomnia disorder (OR 7.62, 95% CI 2.48 to 23.41). CONCLUSIONS We did not find any association between different types of headaches and work schedule. However, tension-type headache was associated with high number of night shifts. Nurses with sleep disorders (insomnia disorder and shift work disorder) reported higher prevalence of frequent headaches, migraine, chronic headache and medication-overuse headache (only insomnia) compared with nurses not having insomnia disorder and shift work disorder, respectively.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to investigate the association between different working shifts (i.e. morning, evening, night shifts) and headache, musculoskeletal and abdominal pain, and the extent to which reduced sleep duration could account for these associations. METHODS Nurses (N = 679, 649 female, aged 22-53 years) were followed up for a period of 28 consecutive days, responding to a diary about sleep, shift type and pain complaints (measured on a Likert-type scale ranging from 0 to 3). Generalised structural equation modelling mediation analysis (GSEM) was performed to test whether shift type was associated with higher incidence or higher intensity of pain (headache, pain in neck/shoulders/upper back, upper extremity, low back, lower extremity and abdominal pain), and if this effect was mediated by sleep duration (continuous variable), after controlling for age, work and lifestyle factors. RESULTS Pain scores in lower extremities were decreased following night shifts in general. However, when night shifts were followed by short sleep duration, the risk of pain in the lower extremities and abdominal pain were increased. Headache and pain in the upper extremity were increased after night shifts, but were not associated with sleep duration. Pain in the neck/shoulder/upper back and lower back was not related to shift work. CONCLUSIONS Among nurses in a three-shift rotating schedule, night shifts increased the risk of pain in several regions, but only pain in the lower extremities and abdomen was related to reduced sleep duration.

Abstract
Background An estimated 150 million people worldwide and nearly 17% of the populations in the developing nations are currently suffering from sleep problems. The aim of the present study was to determine the prevalence and associated factors of sleep quality among adults in Ethiopia. Method A cross-sectional study was conducted on 422 randomly selected adults using validated and pretested Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Data were entered into EpiData and analyzed using SPSS version 20 considering bivariable (P value < 0.25) and multivariable (P < 0.05) logistic regression procedures at 95% confidence interval. Result The overall prevalence of poor sleep quality (PSQI score > 5) was 65.4% with higher proportion among males (79 (63.0%)) and age group of 40-49 years (174 (28.6%)). A multivariable logistic regression analysis indicated that age category of 40-49 years (AOR = 2 [95% CI (1.1, 3.6)]) (P = 0.03), monthly income ≤ 1000 ETB (AOR = 2.2 [95% CI (14, 3.5)]) (P = 0.01), current khat chewing (AOR = 1.8 [95% CI (1.1, 3.1)]) (P = 0.03), daily khat chewing (AOR = 3.4 [95% CI (1.2, 11.1)]) (P = 0.04), and obesity (AOR = 1.2 [95% CI (1.3, 2.5)]) (P = 0.03) were identified as risk factors of poor sleep quality. Conclusion The current study is informative for government to work on poverty reduction, create awareness for weight reduction, and develop legislation for khat control to prevent poor sleep quality.

Abstract
Background The headache disorders, namely, migraine and tension type headache and the associated analgesic consumption is badly underestimated and thus makes a major current public health problem. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of migraine and tension type headaches and the associated management options used among undergraduate students of College of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Gondar, Gondar, Ethiopia. Method Institution based cross sectional study was conducted among 720 students in May, 2014. Pretested and structured self-administered questionnaires were used as data collecting tool followed by short interview to diagnose the type of headache based on the International Headache Society diagnostic criteria. SPSS version 20 was also used to analyse the data descriptively as well as inferentially using logistic regression models to investigate factors associated with presence of headache and analgesic use. Result The prevalence of lifetime headache and headache in the last 12 months was 81.11 and 67.22 %, respectively. Migraine and tension type headache were having 94 (13.06 %) and 481 (66.81 %) prevalence, respectively. Prevalence of life time headache was significant among females, students with family history of headache and lack of adequate vacation time. Similarly, lifetime prevalence of analgesic use for headache was 72.45 % and it had statistical association with sex, age, type of headache, lack of adequate vacation time and family history of headache. Majority of the students, migraineurs (54.65 %) and the tension type headache sufferers (66.17 %) commonly used paracetamol. Conclusion High prevalence without adequate medical care seeking behaviour and the associated significant analgesic consumption necessitate the designing of all rounded strategies to improve the quality of life of individuals with such neurologic disorders.

Abstract
RESUMO Objetivo: verificar a presença e severidade de Disfunção Temporomandibular, presença de cefaleia e cervicalgia e o limiar de dor muscular de músculos cervicais em profissionais de enfermagem sob estresse no trabalho. Métodos: 43 mulheres foram avaliadas quanto à presença e severidade de Disfunção Temporomandibular pelo instrumento Critérios de Diagnóstico para Pesquisa de Desordem Temporomandibular e pelo Índice Temporomandibular, respectivamente. Além disso, foram avaliadas quanto ao limiar de dor à pressão nos músculos cervicais por algometria e quanto à presença de cefaleia e cervicalgia. Resultados: disfunção Temporomandibular foi encontrada em 30,23% da amostra, com valor médio de escore de gravidade de 0,52. Entre as participantes com Disfunção Temporomandibular, 69,23% apresentavam depressão, 61,64% graduação I de dor crônica e Sintomas Físicos não Específicos incluindo e excluindo itens de dor em 46,15% e 61,64%, respectivamente. Cefaleia foi referida por 55,81% e cervicalgia por 60,47%. Não houve associação entre Disfunção Temporomandibular, cefaleia e cervicalgia. Os limiares de dor dos músculos cervicais apresentaram-se baixos tanto nos indivíduos com diagnóstico de Disfunção Temporomandibular quanto nos sem este diagnóstico, sem diferença significativa. O músculo esternocleidomastóideo apresentou-se com os menores limiares de dor à pressão. Conclusão: alta incidência de Disfunção Temporomandibular, cefaleia e cervicalgia foram detectadas nesta amostra. Disfunção Temporomandibular não influenciou a presença de cefaleia e/ou cervicalgia. A alta frequência de dor cervical e os baixos limiares de dor no músculo esternocleidomastóideo em todas as participantes demonstram o comprometimento dos músculos cervicais, resultante de possíveis posturas inadequadas e tensão muscular relacionadas ao estresse.

Abstract
Background High stress levels and shift work probably trigger migraine in healthcare professionals (HCPs). However, the migraine risk differences between HCPs and the general population is unknown. Methods This nationwide population-based cohort study used Taiwan’s National Health Insurance Research Database. Physicians (50,226), nurses (122,357), and other HCPs (pharmacists, technicians, dietitians, rehabilitation therapists, social workers, etc.) (45,736) were enrolled for the study cohort, and randomly selected non-HCPs (218,319) were enrolled for the comparison cohort. Conditional logistical regression analysis was used to compare the migraine risks. Comparisons between HCPs and between physician specialties were also done. Results Physicians, nurses, and other HCPs had higher migraine risks than did the general population (adjusted odds ratio [AOR]: 1.672; 95 % confidence interval [CI]: 1.468–1.905, AOR: 1.621; 95 % CI: 1.532–1.714, and AOR: 1.254; 95 % CI: 1.124–1.399, respectively) after stroke, hypertension, epilepsy, anxiety, depression, and insomnia had been adjusted for. Nurses and physicians had higher migraine risks than did other HCPs (AOR: 1.303; 95 % CI: 1.206–1.408, and AOR: 1.193; 95 % CI: 1.069–1.332, respectively). Obstetricians and gynecologists had a lower migraine risk than did other physician specialists (AOR: 0.550; 95 % CI: 0.323–0.937). Conclusion HCPs in Taiwan had a higher migraine risk than did the general population. Heavy workloads, emotional stress, and rotating night shift sleep disturbances appear to be the most important risk factors. These findings should provide an important reference for promoting occupational health in HCPs in Taiwan.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION In a healthy organization, psychological health and physical health are as important as production and productivity; and healthy workers have higher productivity. Regarding lack of information about workers' general health profile in Qom Province, this study aimed to assess and compare the staffs' general health and its components among different workplaces in 2014. METHODS In a cross-sectional study, 2,276 employees working at 46 industries and organizations completed a standardized General Health Questionnaire (GHQ 28) and a demographic questionnaire. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient by IBM SPSS version 20. RESULTS The mean age of the participants was 32.22 (±7.55) years. Seventy-nine point four percent of participants were married and the rest were single. Highest and lowest scores belonged to social dysfunction and depression, respectively. Also, total score of staffs' general health was 17.87 ± 10.93. The results showed that, in spite of the non-relationship between general health score difference among married and single personnel (p > 0.05), there was a significant difference between men and women and among organizations and industries with regards to general health score (p < 0.05), and drivers had the most difference with others. The relationship between workers' ages and GH was significant (p < 0.05, Pearson's bivariate correlation coefficient = -0.05). CONCLUSION The findings of this study collectively indicated that participants had an acceptable condition for mental factors, such as depression, but not in viewpoints of social dysfunction. In other words, staffs' interfaces with circumstances and personal innovation/creativity in the workplaces are at risk. Altogether, the general health score in the studied population was suitable in its entirety.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Sleep disorders and primary headaches are both more prevalent among nursing staff than in the general population. However, there have been no reports about the comorbidity of poor sleep and primary headaches among nursing staff. METHODS Stratified random cluster sampling was used to select 1102 nurses from various departments in three hospitals in north China. Sleep quality was assessed with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). The diagnosis of primary headaches including migraine, tension-type headache (TTH), and chronic daily headache (CDH) was based on the International Classification of Headache Disorders, 3rd edition (beta version) (ICHD-3-beta). RESULTS The response rate was 93 %. Among 1023 nurses, the prevalence of poor sleep was 56.7 %. Of these, 315 nurses (34.13 %) had poor sleep comorbid with primary headaches. The prevalence of poor sleep in the groups with CDH (82.1 %), migraine (78.9 %), and TTH (59.0 %) was significantly higher than that in the group without headaches (47.3 %) (all P < 0.05). Multivariate logistic regression revealed that rotating shifts and suffering headache were independent risk factors for poor sleep. Also, the 1-year prevalence of the three types of primary headache was significantly increased in the poor sleep group (migraine: 21.2 % vs. 7.2 %; TTH: 27.9 % vs. 24.9 %; CDH: 4.1 % vs. 1.1 %; P < 0.05). Compared with normal sleepers, nurses with poor sleep were 1.72 times more likely to have severe headache (OR: 1.72, 95 % CI: 1.14-2.57). CONCLUSION Comorbidity of poor sleep and primary headaches among nursing staff is common. Therefore, sleep quality should be carefully evaluated in nurses with primary headaches.
