Abstract
The mortality rate of breast cancer has increased in worldwide and reported first rank of women cancer in Thailand. One an urgent concern of prevention and education on early detection is Breast Self-examination (BSE). This study aims to report the percentage of BSE and examine the associated factors with BSE among Akha women, the largest ethnic group in northern part of Thailand. A study was conducted with 296 Akha women by survey quantitative data. Descriptive statistic and Binary regression were used for analysis. The majority of the participants were 45-59 years old (51.70%), and illiterate (68.90%). The percentage of good BSE founded 19.60%. The participants who received breast information showed zero-point one three time more likely to report good BSE compared to those non receiving (OR 0.13; 95% CI 0.03-0.53). Factor of susceptibility, benefit of BSE, barrier of BSE, and BSE confident were association with BSE practice. Based on findings, we recommend implementing a new practical program such as BSE media in Akha Language to promote BSE in this ethnic group.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women and it is the second leading cause of mortality among cancers in women and a major health issue in developed countries. Although there are simple and effective screening methods, just minority of women use them. Given the high prevalence of breast cancer in Isfahan women and the low prevalence of screening behavior, the present study aimed to determine the impact of theory-based educational intervention on breast self-examination (BSE) behavior and mammography. MATERIALS AND METHODS The present experimental study was conducted on 93 women referred to comprehensive health centers in Isfahan through convenience sampling, and by this way 46 women were included in the control group and 47 in the intervention group. Data collection was done by a valid and reliable questionnaire. Furthermore, educational interventions were performed for the intervention group in three sessions. Furthermore, the data were completed in the intervention group before, immediately after, and 3 months after intervention and before and 3 months after intervention in the control group. The data were analyzed by SPSS (16); and paired t-test and repeated measure test were used for analysis in the intervention group and also independent t-test and paired t-test were employed to analyze data of the control group. RESULTS The results showed significant changes in perceived benefit constructs (P = 0.023), knowledge (P < 0.001), self-efficacy (P < 0.001), and behavioral intention regarding BSE (P = 0.035) in the intervention group over time, but changes were not significant in both perceived susceptibility and severity in the intervention group. As far as mammography behavior is concerned, only the perceived benefit construct in the intervention group had significant changes. In terms of the screening behavior, only BSE behavior significantly changed before and after intervention. CONCLUSION The study showed that theory-based education by applying of constructs such as perceived benefits and self-efficacy and intention for BSE model could promote breast cancer screening behavior such as BSE. Therefore, it is suggested that health educators utilize educational texts based on these constructs to increase their influence on individuals via screening behavior for breast cancer.

Abstract
Aim Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in Asia and one of the major health problems in most countries in the region. Despite extensive advances in treatment, early diagnosis is one of the main methods for increasing the survival rate. It is necessary to evaluate the barriers and facilitators of screening in different societies. This study was conducted to identify the barriers and facilitators of mammography in Asia. Materials and methods To identify the barriers and facilitators of mammography in Asia, a comprehensive search was carried out in databases such as Medline, Web of Science Core Collection and Scopus using keywords, including breast cancer, screening, mammography, barriers, facilitators and the names of each Asian country, as well as a combination of these keywords were used to help the search. Full-text, English language and original articles were included in this study. Results In total, 71 articles were entered into the study. The findings of this study revealed various barriers to mammography in Asian women, including knowledge, sociodemographic factors, cost and insurance, cultural factors, belief, attitude and feeling, fear, pain and embarrassment, self-efficacy, religious, psychological factors, time constraint, fatalism, professional recommendations, communication, social support and access. Also, knowledge, attitude and belief, perceived risk, professional and social factors were found to be facilitators of mammography. Conclusion Knowing the barriers and facilitators to access mammography is the first step in the development of a successful screening program. Awareness and various personal, professional and social factors have emerged as the major barriers to access to mammography in most Asian countries.

Abstract
Screening plays an essential role in the reduction of mortality and morbidity of breast cancer, which is one of the most common cancers in women worldwide. The aim of this study was to find out whether the use of health education model and theory-based behavioral interventions is effective in women’s breast cancer screening behavior. Applying different search strategies, we searched electronic databases including PubMed, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, and Scopus without time limit from January 12 to March 11, 2017. Keywords included “Breast neoplasm,” Screening,” “Women,” and “Health Education.” First, screening was conducted based on title, abstract, and full text. Then, the studies were screened according to the selection criteria of our study. The relevant and eligible studies were critically appraised by Delphi checklist. In addition, a meta-analysis of eligible studies was conducted with the random-effect approach. Twenty-six of 8,620 initial studies (with sample size of 10,681 in the intervention group and 8,854 in the control group) were included in the final analysis. The results of the meta-analysis showed that the probability of screening behavior in the intervention group is 1.4 times of that in the control group. Furthermore, subgroup analysis by the type of screening behavior indicates that the probabilities of conducting breast self-examination and mammography in the intervention group are 1.9 and 1.4 times of those in the control group. The health education program has a significant impact on breast cancer screening behaviors, particularly breast self-examination. Thus, given the positive effects of the educational screening programs in women, it is suggested that these programs must be continuously pursued with long-term follow-up and increasing rates of screening behaviors should be monitored.

Abstract
BACKGROUND A range of barriers influence women's uptake to a first breast screening invitation. Few studies however, have examined factors associated with second screening uptake. This study follows Maltese women to explore predictors and behaviours to re-attendance, and to determine if uptake of first invitation to the Maltese Breast Screening Programme (MBSP) is a significant predictor of second screening uptake. METHODS A prospective study was conducted to determine factors associated with re-attendance for 100 women invited to the second MBSP round. Records of women's second attendance to the MBSP were extracted in January 2016 from the MBSP database. Data were analyzed using chi-square tests, Independent Samples t-test, Mann Whitney test, Shapiro Wilk test and logistic regression. RESULTS There were no significant associations for sociodemographic or health status variables with second screening uptake (p > 0.05), except breast condition (Fisher's exact test, p = 0.046). Non-attendees at second screening were most unsure of screening frequency recommendations (χ2 = 9.580, p = 0.048). Attendees were more likely to perceive their susceptibility to breast cancer (p = 0.041), believed breast cancer to be life changing (p = 0.011) and considered cues to action to aid attendance (p = 0.028). Non-attendees were in stronger agreement on mammography pain (p = 0.008) and were less likely to consider cues to action (15.4% non-attendees vs 1.4% attendees) (p = 0.017 respectively). 'Perceived barriers', 'breast cancer identity', 'causes' and 'consequences' were found to be significant predictors of second screening uptake, with 'perceived barriers' being the strongest. The inclusion of illness perception items improved the regression model's accuracy in predicting non-attendance to the second screening round (84.6% vs 30.8%). First screening uptake was found to be a significant predictor of subsequent uptake (OR = 0.102; 95% CI = 0.037, 0.283; p = 0.000). CONCLUSIONS Interventions to increase uptake should target first invitees since attending for the first time is a strong predictor of uptake to the second cycle. Further research is required given the small sample. Particular attention should be paid to women who did not respond to their first invite or are unsure or reluctant participants initially.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Social support can provide psychosocial benefits to promote positive health behaviors such as mammography screening. The purpose of this study was to assess the psychometric properties of the Mammography Social Support (MSS) scale among Iranian woman. METHODS Participants were selected from women referring to healthcare centers in Sanandaj, Iran. A total of 434 questionnaires were completed (response rate 91%). The study sample for study 1 included 204 participants for the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA). Construct validity was determined by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) using a study sample of 230 women in study 2. The reliability coefficient for each scale was calculated using Cronbach's alpha, corrected item-total correlations and test-retest respectively. RESULTS CFA affirmed the three-factor structure of the MSS in measuring the functional dimensions of social support for mammography behavior consisting of 19 items. Initial results of the CFA did not fully support the proposed three-factor model. After the model was modified, the fit indices indicated, x2 was 2.3, Comparative Fit Index (CFI) = 0.96, Tucker- Lewis Index (TLI) = 0.95 providing a strong fit to the data. Cronbach's alphas for the subscales ranged from 0.82 and 0.90, whereas the alpha for the overall scale was 0.91. The 2-week test-retest reliability of MSS was 0.95. CONCLUSION This study provides evidence for the psychometric properties to support the Farsi version of the MSS when applied to Iranian women. Exploring the three-factor model in relation to related concepts is suggested for future studies.

Abstract
Background: Breast cancer is a great concern for women’s health; early detection can play a key role in reducing associated morbidity and mortality. The objective of this study was to systematically assess the effectiveness of model-based interventions for breast cancer screening behavior of women. Methods: We searched Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, Science Direct, Cochrane library and Google scholar search engines for systematic reviews, clinical trials, pre- and post-test or quasi-experimental studies (with limits to publication dates from 2000-2017), Keywords were: breast cancer, screening, systematic review, trials, and health model. In this review, qualitative analysis was used to assess the heterogeneity of data. Results: Thirty six articles with 17,770 female participants were included in this review. The Health belief model was used in twenty three articles as the basis for intervention. Two articles used both the Health belief model and the Health Promotion Model, 5 articles used Health belief model and The Trans theoretical Model, 2 used Hthe ealth belief model and Theory planned behavior, 2 used the Health belief model and the Trans theoretical Model, 2 used the Trans theoretical Model, 1 used social cognitive theory, and 1 used Systematic Comprehensive Health Education and Promotion Model. The results showed that model-based educational interventions are more effective for BSE and CBE and mammography screening behavior of women compare to no model based intervention. The Health belief model was the most popular model for promoting breast cancer screening behavior. Conclusions: Educational model-based interventions promote self-care and create a foundation for improving breast cancer screening behavior of women and increase policy makers’ awareness and efforts towards its enhancement breast cancer screening behavior.

Abstract
Breast conflict may represent a woman's unpleasant feelings toward her breasts, which may adversely affect her decision to undertake the procedures for an early detection of breast cancer. The purpose of the present study was to examine the mediating role of breast conflict in cognitive factors, as suggested by the Health Belief Model (HBM), for adopting mammography. In this explanatory cross-sectional study, multistage cluster sampling was employed to recruit 738 women in the age range of 40 to 69 years in Iran. Champion's revised HBM Scale for mammography adoption and the Women's Breast Conflict Scale were used to measure the variables of interest. Generalized structural equation modeling and hierarchical logistic regression were used for data analysis. Breast conflict was negatively associated with perceived barriers of mammography. Perceived barriers were inversely related to self-efficacy, which was positively related to mammography, suggesting the mediating role of perceived barriers and self-efficacy, connecting breast conflict to mammography indirectly. The mediating role of breast conflict in perceived barriers and self-efficacy suggests an indirect link between breast conflict and mammography. Clinicians and public health-care providers must pay attention to women's feelings in formulating and delivering appropriate interventions and consultations.

Abstract
The Health Belief Model (HBM) is widely used in health behavior interventions. The lack of diverse samples in the development of this theory warrants additional study on how it performs among minorities. While studies have utilized HBM to address colorectal cancer (CRC) screening, limited information exists confirming how these constructs influence screening. Data from three CRC screening trials were used to examine how perceived benefits/barriers perform among African Americans (AA) and whether they serve as mechanisms of the intervention effects on screening. The data were collected in AA churches (Study 1: N = 103; Study 2: N = 285; Study 3: N = 374) where lay members conducted CRC education to increase screening. Participants perceived benefits from colonoscopy (M = 2.4/3, SD = 0.87) and perceived few barriers (M = 0.63/8, SD = 1.1). Benefits were perceived for the fecal occult blood test (M = 11.4/15, SD = 2.1), and few barriers were reported (M = 11.7/30, SD = 3.4). Benefits more consistently predicted pre-intervention screening relative to barriers. For Study 3, individuals with fewer barriers reported a greater increase in colonoscopy screening at 12-months versus those with higher barriers (OR = 0.595, 95% CI = 0.368-0.964), P = 0.035). Benefits/barriers did not mediate the relationship. Potential measurement limitations, particularly for barriers, were uncovered and further research on how to assess factors preventing AA from screening is needed.
