Abstract
BACKGROUND To translate and culturally adapt the Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ) to a Swedish version, CSHQ-SWE, and to assess its validity and reliability for use with children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). METHODS A total of 84 children with ADHD (51 boys and 33 girls; 6-12 years) and parents (7 men and 77 women; 28-51 years) were included in the study. CSHQ was translated and culturally adapted to Swedish, and assessed for concurrent validity with sleep actigraphy (analyzed by Kendall's Tau) and for reliability by internal consistency (analyzed by McDonald's Omega H). Face and content validity was evaluated by parents (n = 4) and healthcare professionals (n = 6) qualitatively (comprehensiveness, relevance, and comprehensibility assessed by interviews and analyzed by thematic analysis) and quantitatively (analyzed by content validity ratio and content validity index for 33 items and four non-scored inquiries). RESULTS Parent-reported sleep problems (CSHQ-SWE total score) were moderately correlated with less "Sleep Efficiency" (Tau = -0.305; p < 0.001) measured by sleep actigraphy. Parent-reported problems with "Sleep Onset Delay" was moderately correlated with measured time for "Sleep Onset Latency" (Tau = 0.433; p < 0.001). Parent-reported problems with "Night Wakings" were weakly correlated with measured time for "Wake After Sleep Onset" (Tau = 0.282; p < 0.001). Parents estimation of "Total daily sleep duration" was moderately correlated with measured "Total Sleep Time" (Tau = 0.386; p < 0.001). Five of the seven subscales reached an acceptable level for internal consistency (McDonald's Omega H > 0.700). Comprehensiveness, relevance, and comprehensibility of CSHQ-SWE were satisfactory overall. Content validity ratio was 0.80 to 1.00 for six items, 0.00 to 0.60 for 22 items, and < 0.00 for nine items. Content validity index was 0.22. CONCLUSIONS CSHQ-SWE demonstrated acceptable concurrent validity with objectively measured sleep and internal consistency, whereas the overall results of face and content validity assessment varied. The instrument needs to be further evaluated regarding construct validity, responsiveness, test-retest reliability, and its generalization to other populations.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is diagnosed in accordance with Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition criteria by using subjective observations and information provided by parents and teachers. However, subjective analysis often leads to overdiagnosis or underdiagnosis. There are two types of motor abnormalities in patients with ADHD. First, hyperactivity with fidgeting and restlessness is the major diagnostic criterium for ADHD. Second, developmental coordination disorder characterized by deficits in the acquisition and execution of coordinated motor skills is not the major criterium for ADHD. In this study, a machine learning-based approach was proposed to evaluate and classify 96 patients into ADHD (48 patients, 26 males and 22 females, with mean age: 7y6m) and non-ADHD (48 patients, 26 males and 22 females, with mean age: 7y8m) objectively and automatically by quantifying their movements and evaluating the restlessness scales. METHODS This approach is mainly based on movement quantization through analysis of variance in patients' skeletons detected in outpatient videos. The patients' skeleton sequence in the video was detected using OpenPose and then characterized using 11 values of feature descriptors. A classification analysis based on six machine learning classifiers was performed to evaluate and compare the discriminating power of different feature combinations. RESULTS The results revealed that compared with the non-ADHD group, the ADHD group had significantly larger means in all cases of single feature descriptors. The single feature descriptor "thigh angle", with the values of 157.89 ± 32.81 and 15.37 ± 6.62 in ADHD and non-ADHD groups (p < 0.0001), achieved the best result (optimal cutoff, 42.39; accuracy, 91.03%; sensitivity, 90.25%; specificity, 91.86%; and AUC, 94.00%). CONCLUSIONS The proposed approach can be used to evaluate and classify patients into ADHD and non-ADHD objectively and automatically and can assist physicians in diagnosing ADHD.

Abstract
Background Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neurological developmental disorders in children, and sleep disorders (SDs) are a common comorbidity in children with ADHD. There are currently no pharmacological treatment options for SD in children with ADHD of preschool age (4-6 years). Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is a novel, non-invasive neuromodulation technique. This study explores the effectiveness of rTMS for comorbid SDs in preschool-aged children with ADHD. Methods Thirty-five children of preschool age with ADHD and comorbid SDs were recruited for this study. The children were divided into a parent behavior management training (PBMT) group (n = 19) and a repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with parent behavior management training group (n = 16). Both groups underwent 8 weeks of treatment. The children's SD scores were assessed using the Chinese Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire, were measured before the start, at the end, and 4 weeks after the end of the intervention, and were used to measure the effects. Within-group differences were compared using a repeated-measures analysis of variance, and between-group differences were compared using an independent samples t-test and Mann-Whitney U-test. Results Both the PBMT group and the rTMS combined with the PBMT group significantly improved the SDs of preschool-aged children with ADHD (P < .001), but the effect of the intervention was more pronounced in the rTMS combined with the PBMT group (P < .001) and lasted longer than the PBMT group (P = .004). Conclusion Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation is a promising non-pharmacological therapy to improve SD in preschool-aged children with ADHD.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the improvement of ADHD related symptoms in school-aged children ages 5 to 12 in treatment with a monobloc appliance (MOA) for Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB). METHODS A retrospective review of questionnaire scores of ADHD symptoms from school-aged children being treated with a MOA for SDB. Data was obtained from parent survey questionnaires of 40 school-aged children in three dental offices in treatment with an MOA for SDB showing symptoms of ADHD yet to be confirmed with a formal diagnosis between 2019 and 2021. ADHD symptom scores were ascertained by a parent survey questionnaire completed at the initial visit before MOA treatment, and 2 to 6 months, and 7+ months during MOA treatment. RESULTS At the 7+ month endpoint, 17 of the 28 (61%) children ages 5 to 12 saw at least a 1-point drop in the sum of their questionnaire scores indicating an improvement in ADHD symptoms after initiating treatment with an MOA. Although there was a reduction of the overall average symptom score from the initial visit to 2 to 6 months (M = 4.06, SD ± 1.55), a statistically significant improvement in ADHD symptoms occurred at the 7+ month endpoint (M = 15.29, SD ± 4.50) during MOA treatment. CONCLUSIONS Treatment with an MOA may be highly effective in addressing the dual pathologies of SDB and ADHD in school-age children ages 5 to 12.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Alexithymia, mood dysregulation, and sleep quality have complicated effects on children's development. The current study aimed to investigate the relationship between alexithymia, emotion regulation, psychiatric problems, and sleep problems among Egyptian school-aged children. METHODS A total of 564 Egyptian children, aged 6 to 14, were divided into two groups based on their total Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire abbreviated score: group 1 (N = 300) with sleep problems and group 2 (N = 264) with non-sleep problems. Their parents completed the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) and subjectively assessed the children's emotions using the Children's Alexithymia Measure (CAM) and the Clinical Evaluation of Emotional Regulation-9 (CEER-9). RESULTS Males were more proportional in the sleep problems group than others. The sleep problem group was significantly younger and had a longer daily sleep duration than the non-sleep problem group. Alexithymia and emotion dysregulation had the highest mean in the sleep problem group. Furthermore, alexithymia, emotion dysregulation, emotion difficulty, conduct, and prosocial problems were the most significant contributing factors and risk factors for sleep problems in children. CONCLUSION Sleep problems in children were associated with younger male children with lengthy daily sleep duration and emotional, behavioural, and prosocial difficulties. Furthermore, alexithymia and emotion dysregulation are significant contributors and risk factors for sleep problems in school-aged children.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the association between children's health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and childhood attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). METHOD Databases were systematically searched for peer-reviewed literature published between 2010 and 2022. Two reviewers independently screened and assessed the quality of included studies. Meta-analysis was conducted for studies that used the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL). RESULTS Twenty-three studies were included, with most rated as "good" quality. Meta-analysis found "very large" effect in both parent- (Hedges' g -1.67, 95% CI [-2.57, -0.78]) and child-reported (Hedges' g -1.28, 95% CI [-2.01, -0.56]) HRQoL for children with ADHD compared to children without ADHD. No difference between parent- and child-reported HRQoL in children with and without ADHD was found. However, parent-reported HRQoL was lower than child-reported HRQoL among children with ADHD. CONCLUSION ADHD was associated with substantially poorer children's HRQoL. Among children with ADHD, parents rated their children's HRQoL lower than the children themselves.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the most common neuropsychiatric disorder in schoolchildren. ADHD diagnoses are generally made based on criteria from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition. The diagnosis is made clinically based on observation and information provided by parents and teachers, which is highly subjective and can lead to disparate results. Considering that hyperactivity is one of the main symptoms of ADHD, the inaccuracy of ADHD diagnosis based on subjective criteria necessitates the identification of a method to objectively diagnose ADHD. METHODS In this study, a medical chair containing a piezoelectric material was applied to objectively analyze movements of patients with ADHD, which were compared with those of patients without ADHD. This study enrolled 62 patients-31 patients with ADHD and 31 patients without ADHD. During the clinical evaluation, participants' movements were recorded by the piezoelectric material for analysis. The variance, zero-crossing rate, and high energy rate of movements were subsequently analyzed. RESULTS The results revealed that the variance, zero-crossing rate, and high energy rate were significantly higher in patients with ADHD than in those without ADHD. Classification performance was excellent in both groups, with the area under the curve as high as 98.00%. CONCLUSION Our findings suggest that the use of a smart chair equipped with piezoelectric material is an objective and potentially useful method for supporting the diagnosis of ADHD.

Abstract
Sleep problems represent a significant challenge for children with ADHD. However, lack of knowledge about how sleep affects children with ADHD in terms of their health and everyday life prevents the development and implementation of interventions to promote sleep. The aim of this study was to explore parents' experiences of direct and indirect implications of sleep quality on the health of children with ADHD. The study used an abductive qualitative design, with Tengland's two-dimensional theory of health as a deductive analysis framework. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 21 parents of children aged 6-13 with ADHD and sleep problems. The parents experienced that sleep influenced their children's abilities to control emotional behaviour related to ADHD and to manage everyday life. Sleep also had an impact on the children's well-being, in relation to both vitality and self-esteem. In conclusion, the results show important direct and indirect implications of sleep quality on the health of children with ADHD. This implies a need for greater focus on sleep, to target both abilities and well-being in promoting health among children with ADHD.

Abstract
STUDY OBJECTIVES The current study aimed to examine the association of insomnia symptoms with daytime behavior and cognitive functioning in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). METHODS Thirty-six children with ADHD and insomnia symptoms, 27 children with ADHD without insomnia symptoms and 21 age-matched healthy controls were recruited in this study (age range: 6-12 years, 70% male). They were assessed by parent-report questionnaires on insomnia symptoms (Children's Sleep Habit Questionnaire) and ADHD symptoms (Strengths and Weaknesses of ADHD Symptoms and Normal Behavior Scale, SWAN), and completed a battery of cognitive tests including Continuous Performance Test (CPT) for sustained attention, Letter-digit test for processing speed, Digit Span forward test and N-back task for working memory, Tower of London (TOL) test for planning skills and Bergs Card Sorting Test (BCST) for set-shifting ability. RESULTS Children with ADHD and insomnia symptoms had the highest scores on SWAN total, and inattention and hyperactivity subscales, followed by children with ADHD without insomnia and healthy controls (all ps < 0.05). After controlling for potential confounders, children with ADHD and insomnia symptoms showed poorer performance on CPT and Letter-digit test as compared to children with ADHD without insomnia and healthy controls (all ps < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Insomnia symptoms are associated with more severe ADHD symptoms and cognitive impairments in children with ADHD, especially deficits on sustained attention and processing speed. Future longitudinal studies are needed to explore the long-term impacts of insomnia symptoms and the effects of sleep-focused intervention on cognitive functioning in children with ADHD.

Abstract
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) affects approximately 5−7% of school-age children. ADHD is usually marked by an ongoing pattern of inattention or hyperactivity−impulsivity, leading to functioning or developmental problems. A common ADHD assessment tool is the Swanson, Nolan, and Pelham (SNAP) questionnaire. However, such scales provide only a subjective perspective, and most of them are used to evaluate therapeutic effects at least 3−12 months after medication initiation. Therefore, we employed an objective assessment method to provide more accurate evaluations of therapeutic effects in 25 children with ADHD (23 boys and 2 girls). To evaluate the participants’ improvement and treatment’s effectiveness, the pixel subtraction technique was used in video analysis. We compared the efficacy of 1-month Ritalin or Concerta treatment by evaluating the movement in each video within 3 h of medication administration. The movement value was defined as the result of a calculation when using the pixel subtraction technique. Based on behavior observation and SNAP scores, both parent- and teacher-reported scores decreased after 1 month of medication (reduction rates: 19.61% and 16.38%, respectively). Specifically, the parent-reported hyperactivity subscale and teacher-reported oppositional subscale decreased more significantly. By contrast, the reduction rate was 39.27%, as evaluated using the average movement value (AMV). Considering symptomatic improvement as a >25% reduction in scores, the result revealed that the AMV decreased in 18 patients (72%) compared with only 44% and 56% of patients based on parent- and teacher-reported hyperactivity subscale scores. In conclusion, the pixel subtraction method can serve as an objective and reliable evaluation of the therapeutic effects of ADHD medication in the early stage.

Abstract
Sleep disturbances are common in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and associated with poor outcomes. We tested whether, in children with ADHD, (1) polygenic liability for sleep phenotypes is over- or under-transmitted from parents, (2) this liability is linked to comorbid sleep disturbances, and (3) ADHD genetic risk is associated with comorbid sleep disturbances. We derived polygenic scores (PGS) for insomnia, chronotype, sleep duration, and ADHD, in 758 children (5-18 years old) diagnosed with ADHD and their parents. We conducted polygenic transmission disequilibrium tests for each sleep PGS in complete parent-offspring ADHD trios (N = 328) and an independent replication sample of ADHD trios (N = 844). Next, we tested whether insomnia, sleep duration, and ADHD PGS were associated with co-occurring sleep phenotypes (hypersomnia, insomnia, restless sleep, poor sleep quality, and nightmares) in children with ADHD. Children's insomnia and chronotype PGS did not differ from mid-parent average PGS but long sleep duration PGS were significantly over-transmitted to children with ADHD. This was supported by a combined analysis using the replication sample. Insomnia, sleep duration, and ADHD PGS were not associated with comorbid sleep disturbances. There is weak evidence that children with ADHD over-inherit polygenic liability for longer sleep duration and do not differentially inherit polygenic liability for insomnia or chronotype. There was insufficient evidence that childhood sleep disturbances were driven by polygenic liability for ADHD or sleep traits, suggesting that sleep disturbances in ADHD may be aetiologically different to general population sleep phenotypes and do not index greater ADHD genetic risk burden.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Investigate effects of persistent sleep disturbances during early childhood over ADHD during the adolescence, and the potential attention-related executive functions mediating this effect. METHODS We used data from the 2004 Pelotas Birth Cohort. Children's Sleep disturbances were reported by their mothers at 12, 24, and 48 months of age, whereas the Test-of-Everyday-Attention-for-Children (TEA-Ch) and the Development and Well Being Assessment (DAWBA) were applied at 11 years of age to evaluate attention-related executive functions and ADHD, respectively. Persistent sleep problems were defined as reporting have two or more points of difficulty to sleep, nightmares, restless sleeps, and/or <10h/24h sleep duration. Logistic regression and mediation models were used, adjusting for maternal and child sociodemographic, behavior and health related variables. RESULTS The highest prevalence of adolescent ADHD (15.4%) was on the group who reported having nightmares at 2,4 and 6 years. In adjusted models, we observed an odd of ADHD in the adolescence 2.26 higher in those who reported persistent nightmares (CI95% 1.33, 4.01) compared to those reported transitory or no nightmares. Persistent difficulty to sleep (OR=1.74 CI95% 1.13, 2.66) and restless sleep (OR=1.80, CI95% 1.23, 2.64) during childhood also increased ADHD odds at 11 years. No indirect effect through attention related executive functions was found using mediating models. DISCUSSION Persistent early sleep disturbances may increase odds of ADHD among adolescents and could be consider as early marker of such disorder, specially nightmares problems. These effects were not mediated by attention-related executive functions. Nevertheless, we had 75% of cohort inception response.

Abstract
PURPOSE Problems in infant and young child sleep can represent a serious challenge to parental behavior of mother and father. However, most research about the effect of infant and young child sleep on parenting has focused on mothers. Therefore, the present study aimed to explore the perception and consequences of infant and young child sleep problems of both parents. PARTICIPANTS AND METHODS Participants were recruited via random sampling at, eg, kindergartens in North Rhine Westphalia. The sample includes data of heterosexual German-speaking couples with children without any medical or psychopathological problems. For this study, parents were asked to complete the test battery with regard to their youngest child. As sampling was via the kindergarten, the range of child age was 4-68 months. A survey assessed data of parents (N=196, 46% female). The test battery contained the following questionnaires: Children Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Self-Report Measure for the Assessment of Emotion Regulation Skills (SEK-27), and a German version of the Infant Sleep Vignettes Interpretation Scale (ISVIS). For the outcome variables of parental sleep as well as for parental emotional competence, the statistical tests of ANOVA were used, and for parental sleep-related cognitions with the grouping variables of infant and young child sleep as well as parental gender, a MANOVA was used. According to the analysis of group differences, the age of the child was also included additional to the grouping variable of parental gender and children's sleep. RESULTS Mothers and fathers in this sample were equally aware of their children's sleep problems and reported similar sleep quality and emotion regulation themselves (all p > 0.05). Mothers as well as fathers of children with sleep problems had lower parental sleep quality (F(1, 183) = 110.01, p < 0.001) and emotion regulation (F(1, 184) = 143.16, p < 0.001) compared to parents of children without sleep problems. In children under 26 months of age, the child's age seemed to have less negative impact on the father's sleep quality (F(1, 183) = 5.01, p < 0.001) and emotion regulation (F(1, 184) = 0.72, p < 0.05) than on the outcomes of the mother. With regard to sleep-related cognition, there were statistically significant effects of parental gender (F(2, 185) = 44.39, p < 0.001) and interaction effects of parental gender × child sleep problems observed (F(2, 185) = 31.91, p < 0.001). CONCLUSION The conclusion from this survey refers to the role of the father. According to the results, an association between paternal emotional competence, sleep quality as well as their sleep-related cognitions and infants and toddlers sleep behavior could be assumed in addition to and independent of the results of mothers. We would highlight the urgent need of inclusion of fathers in infant and developmental sleep research. In the context of sleep intervention, both parents should be provided with ongoing support to improve their sleep quality and competence in emotion regulation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Children and adults with ADHD often report sleep disturbances that may form part of the etiology and/or symptomatology of ADHD. We review the evidence for sleep changes in children with ADHD. METHODS Systematic review with narrative synthesis assessing sleep and circadian function in children aged 5 to 13 years old with a diagnosis of ADHD. RESULTS 148 studies were included for review, incorporating data from 42,353 children. We found that sleep disturbances in ADHD are common and that they may worsen behavioral outcomes; moreover, sleep interventions may improve ADHD symptoms, and pharmacotherapy for ADHD may impact sleep. CONCLUSION Sleep disturbance may represent a clinically important feature of ADHD in children, which might be therapeutically targeted in a useful way. There are a number of important gaps in the literature. We set out a manifesto for future research in the area of sleep, circadian rhythms, and ADHD.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The relationship of sleep with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) remains complex and unclear. The current study aimed to compare the subjective and objective sleep parameters among children with and without ADHD. Moreover, to address the effect of sleep parameters on the quality of life (QoL). METHODS We assessed 42 participants who were children with ADHD (aged 6-12 years), with predominant combined presentation (23), compared to 42 healthy children, who underwent a sleep study assessment subjectively (the Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire), and objectively (one-night Polysomnographic recording). Also, parents completed the pediatric quality of life inventory (PedsQL-P). RESULTS Children with ADHD had more subjective sleep problems. ADHD patients also had a significant decrease in total sleep time and sleep efficiency, spending more time in wake and N1 sleep stages. Moreover, they had significantly lower rapid eye movement (REM)sleep duration and less duration of deep sleep stages. Multivariate regression analysis showed that REM sleep duration was the most contributing and predictive factor to QoL and school function impairment. CONCLUSION Children with ADHD have a significantly lower sleep quantity and poor sleep quality. In addition, short REM sleep duration independently contributes to further deterioration in different areas of QoL.

Abstract
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the most common neuropsychiatric disorder in children. Several scales are available to evaluate ADHD therapeutic effects, including the Swanson, Nolan, and Pelham (SNAP) questionnaire, the Vanderbilt ADHD Diagnostic Rating Scale, and the visual analog scale. However, these scales are subjective. In the present study, we proposed an objective and automatic approach for evaluating the therapeutic effects of medication in patients with (ADHD). The approach involved using movement quantification of patients’ skeletons detected automatically with OpenPose in outpatient videos. Eleven skeleton parameter series were calculated from the detected skeleton sequence, and the corresponding 33 features were extracted using autocorrelation and variance analysis. This study enrolled 25 patients with ADHD. The outpatient videos were recorded before and after medication treatment. Statistical analysis indicated that four features corresponding to the first autocorrelation coefficients of the original series of four skeleton parameters and 11 features each corresponding to the first autocorrelation coefficients of the differenced series and the averaged variances of the original series of 11 skeleton parameters significantly decreased after the use of methylphenidate, an ADHD medication. The results revealed that the proposed approach can support physicians as an objective and automatic tool for evaluating the therapeutic effects of medication on patients with ADHD.

Abstract
Background: Children with ADHD should engage in physical activity, given its known role as a treatment adjunct. Objective: The main objective of this study is to assess the relationship between ADHD diagnosis and physical activity among children in the United States. Methods: This retrospective population-based cross-sectional study used data from the 2016 caregiver reported, National Survey of Children's Health (NSCH). Results: In the adjusted binary model, children with an ADHD diagnosis had 21% lower odds of engaging in daily physical activity than their nondiagnosed counterparts. In the adjusted multinomial model, children with ADHD were increasingly unlikely to report additional days of physical activity as compared to those without a diagnosis. Conclusion: Given the known benefits of physical activity for those with ADHD, this study underscores the need for enhanced access to an important treatment adjunct for this population.

Although frequent disturbing dreams, including bad dreams and nightmares, have been repeatedly associated with poor psychological well-being in adults, considerably less information exists on their psychosocial correlates in children. Recent empirical and theoretical contributions suggest that the association between disturbing dream frequency and psychosocial adaptation in children may differ as a function of children's negative emotionality. The current study assessed the moderating effect of very early negative emotionality (17 months of age) in the relation between disturbing dream frequency and psychosocial maladjustment (i.e., externalizing + internalizing behaviors) in a sample of 173 11-year-old children. Mixed-model analyses revealed that disturbing dream frequency was associated with some internalizing behaviors but that the association between disturbing dream frequency and most externalizing behaviors was moderated by early negative emotionality. The latter result indicates that the relation between disturbing dream frequency and externalizing behaviors was significant in 11-year-old children showing moderate negative emotionality early in life, but particularly strong in those children with high early negative emotionality. Whereas, a moderating effect of early negative emotionality was not found between disturbing dream frequency and internalizing behaviors, the findings highlight the more specific role of early emotional negativity as a developmental moderator for the link between disturbing dreams and externalizing behaviors in children. The results are discussed in light of recent models of disturbed dreaming production.

Abstract
Background: Insomnia is common in school-aged children and often associated with other mental disorders. Here, we investigated the effectiveness and acceptance of the KiSS program in an "all-comer" pediatric insomnia clinic. Participants/Methods: Forty-five families (children: 5-10 years, 57.8% female) were randomly assigned to the multicomponent six-session KiSS treatment (CBT-I, hypnotherapy, and imaginations) or a wait-list control group. A sleep diary was recorded before intervention or waiting time, immediately after, as well as 3, 6, and 12 months postintervention (primary outcome: sleep efficiency, SE; sleep-onset latency, SOL). Results: Sleep improved significantly after the KiSS intervention. Three to 12 months after the intervention, only 1.75% of treated children still met the diagnostic criteria for insomnia. SE improved to 96%, and both SOL (reduced to 23 min) and total sleep time were normalized. All improvements were stable for at least one year after the intervention. KiSS was well accepted (0% dropout during intervention) and well tolerated. Conclusions: Treatment with the multimodal sleep training KiSS leads to positive changes in the sleep of children with insomnia, including a subset of children that presented with comorbid mental disorders. With only three sessions for parents and three sessions for children, the treatment can be readily implemented as a stand-alone treatment or be combined with other interventions. Dismantling studies and studies with an active control group are ongoing.

Abstract
Objective: We aimed to investigate the association between sleep in early life and ADHD in adolescence. As a secondary analysis, we tested whether the associations may be specific to ADHD. Method: Data from 3,467 participants of the 2004 Pelotas Birth Cohort were used. Information on their sleep duration and problems was collected at 12, 24, and 48 months of age. ADHD diagnosis and hyperactivity/inattention problems were assessed with the Development and Well-Being Assessment (DAWBA) and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) among participants at 11 years of age. Results: Difficulty going to sleep at 24 months, nightmares at 24 months and at 48 months, and restless sleep at 48 months were consistently associated with ADHD as well as with other mental disorders. Conclusion: The results suggest that sleep disturbances may be more important ADHD predictors than sleep duration or sleep duration trajectories. However, it may also be considered early markers of other mental disorders.

Abstract
Background The co-occurrence of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) with atopic dermatitis (AD) has been well described in some recent association studies; however, we did not have any perspective on this relationship in our country. Aim and Objective Hence, the present study aimed to assess the prevalence of ADHD in children with AD. Materials and Methods This cross-sectional study was performed on 95 consecutive children and adolescents (aged 4-18 years) who were referred to dermatology clinics at the two hospitals in Tehran during 2017 with atopic dermatitis. The evidence of atopy was assessed using the 2003 National Survey of Children's Health. The diagnosis of ADHD was based on the Conner Rating Scale. The sleep disorder was also assessed by the Pittsburg sleep quality questionnaire. Results The prevalence of hyperactivity and attention deficit in our AD patients was 20.0% and 29.47%, respectively. Furthermore, patients with sleep problem were significantly more likely to have hyperactivity disorder (odds ratio [OR]: 2.91, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.04-8.16, P = 0.04). According to the results of multiple logistic regression analyses, flexor involvement was the only predictor of hyperactivity disorder in the final model. The univariate and multivariate analyses showed that having attention deficit was associated with having cheek involvement (OR = 3.63, 95% CI: 1.44-9.14, P = 0.01) and sleep problem (OR = 3.68, 95% CI: 1.45-9.33, P = 0.01). Conclusion It seems that neurocognitive disturbances due to sleep restriction in AD children may be one of the main trigger, especially for attention deficit.

Abstract
Sleep and cognition in children and adolescents Abstract. In this review, one of the most important functions of sleep was described: Its role in promoting cognitive processes in children and adolescents. Particularly, studies of older children and adolescents revealed that sleep interacts in a complex manner with cognitive performance. Moreover, it was shown that sleep supports long-term memory even in young children. This is true for many different long-term memory systems such as memory of factual information (declarative memory), language acquisition, and for reward-related learning, but less so for learning motor skills. Clinical implications arise from observing the consequences of sleep deficits in children and adolescents due to early school hours or due to clinical conditions like attention deficits hyperactive disorder (ADHD), sleep apnea syndrome or other sleep disturbances. Current research has only partially shown that the treatment of sleep problems also benefits cognitive and memory performance. Filling this gap remains an opportunity for further research.

Abstract
Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most commonly diagnosed disorders in childhood, enduring through adolescence and adulthood and presenting with symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and/or impulsivity and significantly impairing functioning. Primary sleep disorders such as sleep-disordered breathing, restless leg syndrome, circadian rhythm sleep disorder, insomnia, and narcolepsy are commonly comorbid in these individuals but not often assessed and are therefore often left untreated. Sleep disturbances in individuals with ADHD can result in significant functional impairments that affect mood, attention, behavior, and ultimately school/work performance and quality of life. Previous reviews have described findings related to sleep but have neglected to examine potential impacts of these sleep disorders and ADHD on daytime functioning. This review investigates empirical findings pertaining to sleep abnormalities and related cognitive, behavioral, emotional, and physical impairments in individuals with ADHD and comorbid primary sleep disorders across the life span. It discusses implications to management and highlights existing limitations and recommended future directions.
