Abstract
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is classified as a class I carcinogen that colonizes the human gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The detection at low concentrations is crucial in combatting H. pylori. HopQ protein is located on H. pylori's outer membrane and is expressed at an early stage of contamination, which signifies it as an ideal biomarker. In this study, we presented the development of an electrochemical impedimetric immunosensor for the ultra-sensitive detection of HopQ at low concentrations. The sensor employed polypyrrole nanotubes (PPy-NTs) and carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT-COOH) nanocomposite. PPy-NTs were chosen for their excellent conductivity, biocompatibility, and redox capabilities, simplifying sample preparation by eliminating the need to add redox probes upon measurement. MWCNT-COOH provided covalent binding sites for HopQ antibodies (HopQ-Ab) on the biosensor surface. Characterization of the biosensor was performed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), contact angle measurements, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), complemented by numerical semiempirical quantum calculations. The results demonstrated a dynamic linear range of 5 pg/mL to 1.063 ng/mL and an excellent selectivity, with the possibility of excluding interference using EIS data, specifically charge transfer resistance and double-layer capacitance as multivariants for the calibration curve. Using two EIS components, the limit of detection is calculated to be 2.06 pg/mL. The biosensor was tested with a spiked drinking water sample and showed a signal recovery of 105.5% when detecting 300 pg/mL of HopQ. This novel H. pylori biosensor offers reliable, simple, portable, and rapid screening of the bacteria.

Abstract
Some research has suggested that dental plaque and saliva could be reservoirs of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and be capable of infecting or re-infecting the gastric mucosa after eradication, with certain studies showing a significant association between PD and gastric infection by this bacterium. An electronic search was performed in PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science databases with the terms “Helicobacter pylori AND periodontal diseases”; “Helicobacter pylori AND gingivitis”; “Helicobacter pylori AND chronic periodontitis”; “Helicobacter pylori AND periodontitis”; “Helicobacter pylori AND dental plaque”, to identify articles up to September 2021. The Newcastle-Ottawa scale was used to assess study quality. A meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 2020 (Cochane Collaboration) software. A total of 1,315 studies were identified and 12 were included, analyzing 226,086 patients with mean age between 10.5 and 63.4 years. The prevalence of H. pylori in the oral cavity ranged from 5.4 to 83.3%. A random-effects model was used to analyze the presence of H. pylori and subgroups were made according to the method of evaluation (PCR or RUT). Statistical significance was found in the overall analysis (p = 0.01). There is no clear evidence that H. pylori present in oral bacterial plaque causes gastric infection and vice versa.

Abstract
Gastric cancer is one of the most common cancers worldwide, with a bad prognosis associated with late-stage diagnosis, significantly decreasing the overall survival. This highlights the importance of early detection to improve the clinical course of these patients. Although screening programs, based on endoscopic or radiologic approaches, have been useful in countries with high incidence, they are not cost-effective in low-incidence populations as a massive screening strategy. Additionally, current biomarkers used in daily routine are not specific and sensitive enough, and most of them are obtained invasively. Thus, it is imperative to discover new noninvasive biomarkers able to diagnose early-stage gastric cancer. In this context, liquid biopsy is a promising strategy. In this review, we briefly discuss some of the potential biomarkers for gastric cancer screening and diagnosis identified in blood, saliva, urine, stool, and gastric juice.

Abstract
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a Gram-negative bacterium involved in the development of gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, gastric adenocarcinoma, and gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue. Unexplained iron deficiency anemia, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura and vitamin B12 deficiency have also been related to H. pylori infection, whereas for other extra-gastric diseases, the debate is still open. In this review, we evaluate and discuss the potential involvement of H. pylori infection in the pathogenesis of several respiratory diseases. A MEDLINE search of all studies published in English from 1965 to 2021 was carried out. Controversial findings have been reported in patients with bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchiectasis, lung cancer, tuberculosis, cystic fibrosis, and sarcoidosis. Most of the available literature is concerned with case-control studies based on seroprevalence, with a small sample size and low consideration of confounders, which represents a potential issue. So far, there is no clear evidence of a causal association between H. pylori infection and respiratory diseases, and larger studies with appropriate epidemiological design are required.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND STUDY AIMS Helicobacter pylori infection affects approximately 50% of the global population and has become a serious health concern related to gastric cancer, gastritis, and peptic ulcers. This organism acquires drug resistance through gene mutations, and its increasing resistance to antibiotics has severely influenced the effectiveness of eradication efforts. Therefore, we designed this study to determine the prevalence of H. pylori virulence- (cagA and vacA) and antibiotic resistance - associated genotypes in patients with gastric cancer infected with H. pylori in Whenzhou, China. PATIENTS AND METHODS We used polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to confirm H. pylori in cancerous and paracancerous tissue specimens from 225 patients. Then we tested the prevalence of virulence- and antibiotic resistance - associated genotypes in H. pylori using a PCR-based DNA-sequencing assay. RESULTS We observed H. pylori DNA in 222 of the 225 patients and found the most prevalent virulence-associated genotypes in cagA+ (97.75%) and vacAs1m1 (93.25%). Metronidazole resistance - associated gene mutation was G616A in rdxA; levofloxacin resistance - associated gene mutations were N87K, N87I, and D91G in gyrA; clarithromycin resistance - associated gene mutations were A2143G and A2142G in 23SrRNA; and amoxicillin resistance - associated gene mutation was T556S in pbp1. The most prevalent mutation related to antibiotic resistance was present in rdxA (97.30%), followed by gyrA (41.44%) and 23SrRNA (16.67%); the least prevalent was in pbp1 (2.25%). We observed single-gene mutations in 102 patients (45.95%) and found mutations in multiple genes (≥2 genes) in 116 patients (52.25%). CONCLUSION Patients with gastric cancer in Wenzhou, China, have high incidence infection caused by H. pylori with high-toxicity virulence genotypes. The frequency of gene mutations associated with metronidazole, levofloxacin, and clarithromycin resistances was high and that associated with amoxicillin resistance was relatively low. The mutation patterns were diverse, and the rates of multiple gene mutations were high.
