Abstract
Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection usually causes mild symptoms in children. However, serious complications may occur as a result of both acute infection or in association with the multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C). Dysphagia may develop as a sequela of COVID-19. We review the limited data on dysphagia associated with COVID-19 infection in children. Children can develop acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) due to severe COVID-19 infection leading to endotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation. These children can possibly develop post-intubation dysphagia. Screening for the presence of dysphagia, in an effort to minimize aspiration, in children with active COVID-19 infection must be done carefully to reduce the risk of transmission of the virus. Those children diagnosed with persistent dysphagia after COVID-19 infection has resolved will need further evaluation and management by pediatric subspecialists experienced in treating children with this condition. We recommend, this evaluation and treatment be done by a pediatric aerodigestive team.

Abstract
Background Severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus-2 invades the cells via ACE2 receptor and damages multiple organs of the human body. Understanding the pathological manifestation is mandatory to endure the rising post-infection sequel reported in patients with or without comorbidities. Materials and methods Our descriptive review emphasises the direct, indirect and post-infection damages due to COVID-19. We have performed an electronic database search according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines with selective inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results The included studies substantiated the extensive damages in the multiple organs due to direct and indirect consequences of COVID-19. After an apparent recovery, the prolonged presentation of the symptoms manifests as post-COVID that can be related with persisting viral antigens and dysregulated immune response. Conclusion A few of the symptoms of respiratory, cardiovascular, and neuropsychiatric systems that persist or reappear as post-COVID manifestations. Vaccination and preventive programs will effectively reduce the prevalence but, the post-COVID, a multisystem manifestation, will be a significant tribulation to the medical profession. However, the issue can be managed by implementing public health programs, rehabilitation services, and telemedicine virtual supports to raise awareness and reduce panic.

Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has created huge economic and healthcare burdens. In most cases, the virus affects the lungs and causes respiratory symptoms. Additionally, its impact on the cranial nerves remains unclear. We thus aimed to investigate cranial nerve dysfunction in patients with COVID-19 infection. We conducted a systematic literature search of relevant and eligible literature in five databases: PubMed, Web of Science, Medline, EBSCO, and Google Scholar. Our sample included 21 case reports, one case series with 29 patients, and one analytical study with 135 cases. Participant ages ranged from 23 months to 72 years (mean age of 47.5 ± 19.02). The mean time from respiratory symptoms to the onset of neurological signs was (9.6 ± 7.4) days, and the mean recovery time was (16.3 ± 15.3) days. Cranial nerve impairment associated with COVID-19 infection has affected a large population, from infants to the elderly. Facial and abducent nerves were the most commonly affected cranial nerves with reported good prognosis or complete recovery within a few days to weeks. Olfactory dysfunctions were widely detected among COVID-19 patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Several studies have reported prolonged symptoms especially neurological symptoms following acute infection in patients with COVID-19, known as long COVID-19. There are only few studies investigating this population and relatively less known, including nervous system involvement. A systematic review and meta-analysis of these studies are required to understanding the prevalence of persistent neurological manifestations after COVID-19. OBJECTIVE To conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis on the persistent neurological manifestations in COVID-19 survivors. METHODS Authors conducted a literature search through PubMed and MedRxiv from January 1st, 2020 to October 2021 according to PRISMA guideline. Furthermore, the authors added additional sources by reviewing related references. Studies presenting the neurologic features of long COVID-19 patients in their data were included. Case reports and case series also included in this review. The quality of the studies was assessed based on the Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine guidelines. Selected studies were included in the meta-analysis of proportion and heterogeneity test. FINDINGS From 128 identified studies, 36 were eligible, with 9944 participants included. Most of the included studies had mean duration of follow-up after COVID-19 onset of less than 6 months. Fatigue was the most common (52.8%, 95%CI 19.9 - 84.4) symptoms of long COVID, followed by cognitive disorder (35.4%, 95%CI 2.1 - 81.7); paresthesia (33.3%, 95%CI 2.7 - 76.6); sleep disorder (32.9%, 95%CI 6.5 - 67.4); musculoskeletal pain (27.8%, 95%CI 12.7 - 46); and dizziness (26.4%, 95%CI 4.6 - 57.9). CONCLUSION Neurological manifestations are prevalent and persisting in patients with long COVID. The duration of the symptoms are vary among literatures. However, the frequency are mostly observed during the first six months after the illness onset.

Abstract
Background/Aims Patients treated with intubation and tracheostomy for COVID-19 infection are at risk of increased incidence of laryngeal injury, dysphagia and dysphonia. Because of the novelty of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, little is known about the type of dysphagia patients experience as a result of infection and critical illness. The aim of this case series report was to progress understanding of COVID-19 and dysphagia following admission to an intensive care unit and to guide speech and language therapy clinical practice in the ongoing pandemic. Methods A retrospective case review was conducted of all patients at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London who underwent a tracheostomy because of COVID-19 and received an instrumental assessment of swallowing in the early stages of the pandemic. Results A total of 11 patients were identified, and descriptive statistics were used to present demographic data, with a narrative account of their dysphagia profile used to describe presentation. Causes and presentation of dysphagia were heterogenous, with each patient requiring individualised clinical management to maximise outcome. A positive trend was seen in terms of recovery trajectory and progressing to oral intake. Conclusions This study reports on early experience of the presentation of dysphagia in patients with COVID-19 and demonstrates the value of instrumental assessment. It indicates the need for further research to consolidate knowledge and guide clinical practice.

Abstract
Background The COVID-19 pandemic has produced a myriad of challenges, including identifying and treating neurological sequelae. Main body COVID-19 can cause olfactory and respiratory dysfunction with average recovery within 1 month and a minority of patients experiencing symptoms at 8-month follow-up. Headaches are also very common (up to 93%) amongst patients with persistent COVID-19 symptoms. COVID-19 illness may also affect cognition, although results are mixed. Conclusion While many studies have focused on acute COVID-19 symptoms, more longitudinal studies will need to assess the neurological sequelae of the disease. Furthermore, care must be taken when attributing sequelae to COVID-19 illness and not an unrelated cause. Finally, there is concern that COVID-19 may be associated with secondary illnesses, such as Guillain–Barre, and may even contribute to the development of diseases, such as Alzheimer’s.

Abstract
The article highlights the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations of lesions of the central and peripheral nervous system that have arisen or persist in patients in the postcoid period (Long-COVID-19). Their correct assessment, the use of effective methods of complex treatment, targeted neurorehabilitation contribute to the reversibility of functional disorders, prevention, reduction of disability, improvement of quality of life indicators, prevention of the progression of cognitive, emotional, behavioral disorders initiated by SARS-CoV-2.

Abstract
Background: Current literature lacks characterization of the post-recovery sequelae among COVID-19 patients. This review characterizes the course of clinical, laboratory, radiological findings during the primary infection period, and the complications post-recovery. Primary care findings are presented for long-COVID care. Methods: Adhering to PRISMA guidelines, 4 databases were searched (PubMed, Embase, CINAHL Plus, Scopus) through December 5, 2020, using the keywords “COVID-19 and/or recovered and/or cardiovascular and/or long-term and/or sequelae and/or sub-acute and/or complication.” We included published peer-reviewed case reports, case series, and cross-sectional studies providing the clinical course of COVID-19 infection, and cardiopulmonary complications of patients who recovered from COVID-19, while making healthcare considerations for primary care workers. Results: We identified 29 studies across 9 countries including 37.9% Chinese and 24.1% U.S. studies, comprising 655 patients (Mean Age = 45) with various ethnical backgrounds including Asian and European. Based on the WHO COVID-19 severity classification scale, initial disease severity was mild for 377 patients and severe for 52 patients. Treatments during primary infection included corticosteroids, oxygen support, and antivirals. The mean value (in days) for complication onset after acute recovery was 28 days. Complete blood counts and RT-PCR tests were the most common laboratory results described. In 22 of the studies, patients showed signs of clinical improvement and were prescribed medications such as anticoagulants or corticosteroids. Conclusion: Post-recovery infectious complications are common in long-COVID-19 patients ranging from mild infections to life-threatening conditions. International thoracic and cardiovascular societies need to develop guidelines for patients recovering from COVID-19 pneumonia, while focused patient care by the primary care physician is crucial to curb preventable adverse events. Recommendations for real-time and lab-quality diagnostic tests are warranted to establish point-of-care testing, detect early complications, and provide timely treatment.

Abstract
Purpose This systematic review was performed to identify all relevant health-related quality of life (HRQoL) issues associated with COVID-19. Methods A systematic literature search was undertaken in April 2020. In four teams of three reviewers each, all abstracts were independently reviewed for inclusion by two reviewers. Using a pre-defined checklist of 93 criteria for each publication, data extraction was performed independently by two reviewers and subsequently compared and discussed. If necessary, a third reviewer resolved any discrepancies. The search was updated in February 2021 to retrieve new publications on HRQoL issues including issues related to the long-term consequences of COVID-19. Results The search in April 2020 identified 3342 potentially relevant publications, and 339 publications were selected for full-text review and data extraction. We identified 75 distinct symptoms and other HRQoL issues categorized into 12 thematic areas; from general symptoms such as fever, myalgia, and fatigue, to neurological and psychological issues. The updated search revealed three extra issues experienced during active disease and long-term problems with fatigue, psychological issues and impaired cognitive function. Conclusion This first comprehensive systematic review provides a detailed overview of the wide range of HRQoL issues experienced by patients with COVID-19 throughout the course of the disease. It demonstrates the devastating impact of the disease and provides critically important information for clinicians, to enable them to better recognize the disease and to provide knowledge important for treatment and follow-up. The results provided the foundation for the international development of a COVID-19 specific patient-reported HRQoL questionnaire. Abstract
Dysphagia may occur after a prolonged intubation due to COVID-19 but it is usually mild. Case reports on severe dysphagia following COVID-19 are infrequent. Diagnosis can be difficult because international indications recommend avoiding instrumental assessments as far as possible because of the infection risk. An early rehabilitation treatment is recommended.

Abstract
Introduction: The UK's response to the COVID-19 pandemic presented multiple challenges to healthcare services including the suspension of non-urgent care. The impact on neurorehabilitation professions, including speech and language therapy (SLT), has been substantial. Objectives: To review the changes to SLT services triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic with respect to referral rates, service delivery and outcomes, as well as examining the contribution of SLTs to the neurorehabilitation of COVID-19 patients. Methods: Two surveys were distributed to Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) members exploring experiences of service provision at 6 weeks and 22 weeks after the pandemic was declared in the UK. Responses to closed-ended questions, including questions regarding referral numbers were analyzed descriptively and compared at the two time-points. A database comprising routine clinical data from SLT services across the UK was used to compare information on patients receiving services prior to and during the pandemic. Data on COVID-19 patients was extracted, and findings are provided descriptively. Results: Referrals to SLT services during the acute COVID-19 period in the UK were substantially less than in the same period in 2019. A number of service changes were common including adopting more flexible approaches to provision (such as tele-therapy) and being unable to provide services to some patients. Database analysis suggests fewer patients have accessed SLT since the pandemic began, including a reduction in neurorehabilitation patients. For those who received SLT, the outcomes did not change. SLTs supported a range of needs of COVID-19 patients. Treatment outcomes for COVID-19 patients with dysphagia were positive. Discussion: The pandemic has affected neurorehabilitation and SLT services broadly: referral patterns are different, usual care has been disrupted and interventions have been modified affecting the impact on patient outcomes both positively and negatively. Some patients with COVID-19 require and benefit from SLT intervention.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The COVID-19 outbreak response requires identifying and understanding the long-term consequences of this new pathology and how to manage these. This living systematic review presents the most current and seminal information coming from the scientific literature. It is the monthly update of the second edition of the rapid living systematic review 2020 conducted by Cochrane Rehabilitation REH-COVER Action Steering Committee. The aim of this review was to update the monthly COVID-19 and rehabilitation literature research up to September 30, 2020. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION Methodology described in the second edition of the rapid living systematic review 2020 conducted by Cochrane Rehabilitation REH-COVER action was applied. The most important medical databases were searched, and papers related to COVID-19 and rehabilitation were retrieved and summarized descriptively. EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS The database search retrieved 2526 publications. Duplicates were removed, and 1150 unique records were screened for inclusion. After screening titles, abstracts and full-texts, 37 papers were included in the present review. According to OCEBM 2011 levels of evidence table, most studies (78.4%) fall within the level of evidence 4 category, while the remainder (22.6%) are categorized as level of evidence 3. Most studies described patients in acute (51.4%) or subacute (35.0%) phase, while no studies described the chronic consequences of COVID-19. Just one study dealt with rehabilitation interventions regarding COVID-19, and two discussed reorganization of rehabilitative services. CONCLUSIONS The most recently published COVID-19 research focuses more on describing the clinical presentations and the natural history of the pathology, rather than rehabilitation interventions or service delivery. Studies with high levels of evidence regarding the efficacy of interventions, long-term monitoring, or new organization models remain lacking.
