Abstract
Encapsulation is the way to wrap or coat one substance as a core inside another tiny substance known as a shell at micro and nano scale for protecting the active ingredients from the exterior environment. A lot of active substances, such as flavours, enzymes, drugs, pesticides, vitamins, in addition to catalysts being effectively encapsulated within capsules consisting of different natural as well as synthetic polymers comprising poly(methacrylate), poly(ethylene glycol), cellulose, poly(lactide), poly(styrene), gelatine, poly(lactide-co-glycolide)s, and acacia. The developed capsules release the enclosed substance conveniently and in time through numerous mechanisms, reliant on the ultimate use of final products. Such technology is important for several fields counting food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, agriculture, and textile industries. The present review focuses on the most important and high-efficiency methods for manufacturing micro/nanocapsules and their several applications in our life.

Abstract
Nanostructured hexagonal rare-earth orthoferrites (h-RfeO3, R = Sc, Y, Tb-Lu) are well known as a highly effective base for visible-light-driven heterojunction photocatalysts. However, their application is limited by metastability, leading to difficulties in synthesis due to the irreversible transformation to a stable orthorhombic structure. In this work, we report on a simple route to the stabilization of h-YbFeO3 nanocrystals by the synthesis of multiphase nanocomposites with titania additives. The new I-type heterojunction nanocomposites of o-YbFeO3/h-YbFeO3/r-TiO2 were obtained by the glycine-nitrate solution combustion method with subsequent heat treatment of the products. An increase in the mole fraction of the h-YbFeO3 phase in nanocomposites was found with the titanium addition, indicating its stabilizing effect via limiting mass transfer over heat treatment. The complex physicochemical analysis shows multiple contacts of individual nanocrystals of o-YbFeO3 (44.4-50.6 nm), h-YbFeO3 (7.5-17.6 nm), and rutile r-TiO2 (~5 nm), confirming the presence of the heterojunction structure in the obtained nanocomposite. The photocatalytic activity of h-YbFeO3/o-YbFeO3/r-TiO2 nanocomposites was evaluated by the photo-Fenton degradation of the methyl violet under visible light (λ ≥ 400 nm). It was demonstrated that the addition of 5 mol.% of TiO2 stabilizes h-YbFeO3, which allowed us to achieve a 41.5 mol% fraction, followed by a three-time increase in the photodecomposition rate constant up to 0.0160 min-1.

Ni Nanoparticles Stabilized by Hyperbranched Polymer: Does the Architecture of the Polymer Affect the Nanoparticle Characteristics and Their Performance in Catalysis? Int J Mol Sci 2022; 23:ijms232213874. Abstract
Heat-up and hot-injection methods were employed to synthesize Ni nanoparticles (NPs) with narrow size distribution in the presence of hyperbranched pyridylphenylene polymer (PPP) as a stabilizing agent. It was shown that depending on the synthetic method, Ni NPs were formed either in a cross-linked polymer network or stabilized by a soluble hyperbranched polymer. Ni NPs were characterized by a combination of transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning TEM, thermogravimetric analysis, powder X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis, and magnetic measurements. The architecture of polymer support was found to significantly effect Ni NPs characteristics and behavior. The Ni NPs demonstrated a high catalytic activity in a model Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction. No significant drop in activity was observed upon repeated use after magnetic separation in five consecutive catalytic cycles. We believe that hyperbranched PPP can serve as universal platform for the controllable synthesis of Ni NPs, acting as highly active and stable catalysts.

Abstract
The present review compiles the advances in the dendritic catalysis within the last two decades, in particular concerning heterogeneous dendrimer-based catalysts and their and application in various processes, such as hydrogenation, oxidation, cross-coupling reactions, etc. There are considered three main approaches to the synthesis of immobilized heterogeneous dendrimer-based catalysts: (1) impregnation/adsorption on silica or carbon carriers; (2) dendrimer covalent grafting to various supports (silica, polystyrene, carbon nanotubes, porous aromatic frameworks, etc.), which may be performed in a divergent (as a gradual dendron growth on the support) or convergent way (as a grafting of whole dendrimer to the support); and (3) dendrimer cross-linking, using transition metal ions (resulting in coordination polymer networks) or bifunctional organic linkers, whose size, polarity, and rigidity define the properties of the resulted material. Additionally, magnetically separable dendritic catalysts, which can be synthesized using the three above-mentioned approaches, are also considered. Dendritic catalysts, synthesized in such ways, can be stored as powders and be easily separated from the reaction medium by filtration/centrifugation as traditional heterogeneous catalysts, maintaining efficiency as for homogeneous dendritic catalysts.

Abstract
The rapid development of global logistics has led to the overuse of packaging cartons, causing problems for municipal solid waste disposal. Diverse methods of exploiting the potential value of waste cartons are needed. Herein, we fabricated a magnetic composite (MC) from waste cartons via a one-step hydrothermal treatment and characterized. Using methylene blue (MB) as a model organic pollutant, tests of the activation of persulfate (PS) via the MC for the removal of MB were performed. Meanwhile, a comparison with activation with pre-magnetized zero-valent iron (Pre-ZVI/PS) was made. The comparative results show that the removal of MB was successfully accomplished with both Pre-ZVI/PS and MC/PS. Specifically, MC/PS could remove almost 100 % of MB, with the COD removal efficiency reaching over 70 % when the MB concentration was 50 mg/L at 80 min under different pH conditions. Even when reused twice, the MC still displayed robust activation performance. Additionally, we evaluated the lifetime of magnetic memory for Pre-ZVI, and first found its consecutive loss of pre-magnetization over 30 days, corresponding to the incremental attenuation of reaction rate constants in the Pre-ZVI-activated PS process. Overall, activating PS using the MC is a promising advanced oxidation technology and also provides a valuable reference on the valorization of lignocellulosic biomass.

Abstract
Despite numerous works devoted to the cellulose hydrogenolysis process, only some of them describe reaction kinetics. This is explained by the complexity of the process and the simultaneous behavior of different reactions. In this work, we present the results of the kinetic study of glucose hydrogenolysis into ethylene- and propylene glycols in the presence of Ru@Fe3O4/HPS catalyst as a part of the process of catalytic conversion of cellulose into glycols. The structure of the Ru-containing magnetically separable Ru@Fe3O4/HPS catalysts supported on the polymeric matrix of hypercrosslinked polystyrene was studied to propose the reaction scheme. As a result of this study, a formal description of the glucose hydrogenolysis process into glycols was performed. Based on the data obtained, the mathematical model of the glucose hydrogenolysis kinetics in the presence of Ru@Fe3O4/HPS was developed and the parameter estimation was carried out. The synthesized catalyst was found to be characterized by the enhanced magnetic properties and higher catalytic activity in comparison with previously developed catalytic systems (i.e., on the base of SiO2). The summarized selectivity towards the glycols formation was found to be ca. 42% at 100% of the cellulose conversion in the presence of Ru@Fe3O4/HPS.

Abstract
Novel magnetically recoverable nanocatalyst comprising nickel-palladium (NiPd) alloy nanoparticles (NPs) supported on reduced graphene oxide (rGO) modified with cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4) NPs was fabricated for the direct C-H arylation of imidazopyridine, imidazole, indolizine and furan with aryl halides. To prepare the presented catalyst, rGO nanosheets were first modified with as-synthesized CoFe2O4 NPs and then the obtained CoFe2O4-rGO nanocomposites served as a support material for the synthesis of bimetallic NiPd alloy NPs at various compositions. The obtained CoFe2O4-rGO/NiPd nanocatalysts were characterized by many advanced analytical techniques including TEM, STEM-EDS, XRD, XPS, and ICP-MS. Next, to optimize the reaction conditions, CoFe2O4-rGO/NiPd nanocatalysts with different alloy compositions and their monometallic counterparts (CoFe2O4-rGO/Ni and CoFe2O4-rGO/Pd) were initially tested in the direct C-H arylation of imidazopyridine with bromobenzene. Among all tested nanocatalysts under the optimum reaction conditions, CoFe2O4-rGO/Ni20Pd80 showed the best catalytic activity in terms of the isolated product yields. The C-H arylation reactions were studied over a broad substrate scope (35 examples from 36 substrates) and gave the related biaryl products in good to excellent yields. Besides a broad substrate scope, the late-stage C-H arylation of zolimidine, a gastroprotective drug, was realized under the optimized reaction conditions. Moreover, the CoFe2O4-rGO/Ni20Pd80 nanocatalysts were recovered from the reaction medium using a simple magnet and reused in the C-H arylation reactions up to five consecutive runs without a significant drop in the product yield. This study shows that magnetically recoverable Pd nanoalloys are promising heterogeneous catalysts to be used in sustainable C-H functionalization reactions.

Abstract
The rapid separation and efficient recycling of catalysts after a catalytic reaction are considered important requirements along with the high catalytic performances. In this view, although heterogeneous catalysis is generally less efficient if compared to the homogeneous type, it is generally preferred since it benefits from the easy recovery of the catalyst. Recycling of heterogeneous catalysts using traditional methods of separation such as extraction, filtration, vacuum distillation, or centrifugation is tedious and time-consuming. They are uneconomic processes and, hence, they cannot be carried out in the industrial scale. For these limitations, today, the research is devoted to the development of new methods that allow a good separation and recycling of catalysts. The separation process should follow a procedure economically and technically feasible with a minimal loss of the solid catalyst. The aim of this work is to provide an overview about the current trends in the methods of separation/recycling used in the heterogeneous catalysis.

Abstract
Iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe3O4 NPs) attracted significant scientific interest, considering their immense diversity of usage and biocompatibility. Perceiving the growing importance of sustainable chemistry, many efforts have been made to prepare these NPs using naturally occurring materials mostly plant extracts and microbes. Magnetic NPs (MNPs) are commonly used as composites and are considered in two matters: synthesis and modification of their functional groups. Biopolymeric nanocomposites are a group of hybrid materials composed of natural polymers and inorganic nanomaterials. Biopolymers such as alginate, cellulose, starch, gelatin, chitosan, etc. have been considered extensively and provided composites with better electrical and mechanical thermal properties. Fe3O4 NPs incorporated in a polymer and biopolymer matrix is a good instance of the functional nanostructure, which has been able to enhance the properties of both ingredients. These hybrids can have impressive applications in various scopes such as magneto-optical storage, electromagnetic interference shielding, catalyst, water remediation, biomedical sensing, and so on. In this study, we have tried to briefly introduce Fe3O4 NPs, investigate the green and sustainable methods that have been suggested for its synthesis and review recent utilization of their biopolymeric nanocomposite (NC) including starch, chitosan, dextrin, etc. as catalysts and photocatalysts.

Abstract
Iron oxide nanoparticles (NPs) have been extensively used for both health and technological applications. The control over their morphology, crystal microstructure, and oxidation state is of great importance to optimize their final use. However, while mature in understanding, it is still far from complete. Here we report on the effect of the amount of 1,2-hexadecanediol and/or 1-octadecene in the reaction mixture on the thermal decomposition of iron(III) acetylacetonate in oleic acid for two series of iron oxide NPs with sizes ranging from 6 to 48 nm. We show that a low amount of either compound leads to both large, mixed-phase NPs composed of magnetite (Fe3O4) and wüstite (FeO) and high reaction yields. In contrast, a higher amount of either 1,2-hexadecanediol or 1-octadecene gives rise to smaller, single-phase NPs with moderate reaction yields. By infrared spectroscopy, we have elucidated the role of 1,2-hexadecanediol, which mediates the particle nucleation and growth. Finally, we have correlated the magnetic response and the structural features of the NPs for the two series of samples.

Abstract
One of the challenges in the preparation of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is to develop new catalytic systems with improved efficiency. A hybrid iron oxide silver catalyst holds promise in solving this issue. Catalysts were prepared at room temperature by a two-step technique. First, iron oxide nanoparticles were prepared by the reduction of FeCl3 using sodium borohydride (NaBH4) at room temperature. Second, magnetic nanoparticles doped with a series of Ag nanoparticles (Ag, Ag/3 –amino propyltriethoxysilane (APTES) and Ag/poly(ethyleneimine) (PEI)). The prepared catalysts were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDX), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The catalytic activity of Fe, Ag/Fe, PEI–Ag/Fe, and APTES–Ag/Fe in methyl methacrylate (MMA) polymerization was investigated in the presence of O2, N2, NaHSO3, and benzoyl peroxide in bulk or solution conditions. The produced polymer was characterized by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1HNMR). The structures of PEI–Ag/Fe and APTES–Ag/Fe are assumed. The conversion efficiency was 100%, 100%, 97.6%, and 99.1% using Fe, Ag/Fe, PEI–Ag/Fe, and APTES–Ag/Fe catalysts at the optimum conditions, respectively. Hybrid iron oxide silver nanoparticles are promising catalysts for PMMA preparation.

Abstract
Targeting specific molecular or cell populations within single tissues or multicomponent in vitro systems is a most sought goal in biomedicine. Here we report on targeted magnetic separation of cells and biomolecules using a ferrofluid comprising superparamagnetic iron-oxide/silicate/carbon core/shell/crust nanoparticles in combination with a handheld, 2.5 cm3 NdFeB magnet (≤180 mT) and one minute exposure time. Ferrofluids were highly effective at separating (i) biomolecules, (ii) bacteria and (iii) eukaryotic cells from solutions, and they also exhibited selectivity in the separation of all three families of entities. Specifically, they were more effective at separating the negatively charged protein, albumin in the presence of the external magnetic field, but were more effective at precipitating the positively charged protein, lysozyme without the application of the external field. Because of the more effective sorption of proteins than carbohydrates on carbon and the shielding of peptidoglycans by the transmembrane proteins and hydrophilic heads of the outer membrane amphiphiles in Gram-negative bacteria, they were separated more effectively than their Gram-positive counterparts. Ferrofluids were also more efficient at separating the clinical isolate, methicillin-resistant version of S. aureus (MRSA) than its regular, lab strain and the effect is thought to be due to structural changes to the cell envelope caused by the overexpression of efflux pumps or by the higher rate of conjugation conditioning horizontal gene transfer in MRSA than in the regular, nonresistant strain. Ferrofluids also displayed a greater affinity for the cancer cells than for the normal, primary cells and allowed for targeted separation of the former after the cells were allowed to uptake the nanoparticles for 24 h. This selectivity should allow for an effective separation of cancer cells interspersed within a healthy cell population. Interaction with bacterial and eukaryotic cells was driven neither by electrostatic attraction nor chemisorption, but by weaker, van der Waals and π-interactions. Adsorption was also endothermic, irreversible for the most part, and more favorable at high concentrations, as inferred by comparison with Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherms. These targeted effects are relevant for numerous fields of biomedicine and biotechnologies and require further insight for optimization and translation.
