Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical value of psychological nursing and nutritional intervention in radiopharmaceutical therapy of patients with thyroid carcinoma. Methods This was retrospective study. One hundred and twenty patients with thyroid carcinoma were included at Baoding No.1 Central Hospital from May 10, 2021 to July 10, 2023 to as subjects and randomly divided into the control group and the experimental group (n=60 each group). Patients in the control group were given conventional nursing, while those in the experimental group received psychological nursing and nutritional intervention. The differences in quality of life, compliance, satisfaction and cognitive level between the two groups before and after intervention were compared. Results After intervention, the scores of emotional functions, role function, cognitive function, physical function and social function of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P= 0.00); The compliance of the experimental group was 100%, which was significantly higher than 90% of the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P= 0.01). Moreover, the scores of SAS and SDS in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group after intervention, with a statistically significant difference (P= 0.00). Conclusion Psychological nursing and nutritional intervention may result in a variety of benefits for patients with thyroid carcinoma receiving radiopharmaceutical therapy, such as effectively ameliorating the quality of life of patients, improving the cognitive level of patients with the disease and treatment compliance, reducing anxiety and depression, and enhancing patient satisfaction with nursing.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Malnutrition commonly occurs in cancer patients, impacting their quality of life and survival duration. The objective of this meta-analysis and systematic review is to assess the effects of nutritional interventions on patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy. METHODS A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library databases to obtain randomized controlled trials of nutritional interventions in patients with neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy. Outcomes assessed included toxicity reactions to neoadjuvant therapy, levels of inflammation-related markers, nutritional status, and relevant clinical outcomes. The relative risk (RR) or weighted mean difference (WMD) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were used as effect sizes. RESULTS A total of 16 studies were included, involving 954 patients. Nutritional intervention significantly reduced the incidence of vomiting (RR = 0.37, 95%CI: 0.21-0.67, P = 0.001) and mucositis (RR = 0.82, 95%CI: 0.67-1.00, P = 0.046) in patients with neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy. For the nutritional status of cancer patients, nutritional intervention significantly increased the proportion of well-nourished patients (RR = 12.74, 95%CI: 4.43-36.69, P < 0.001). In addition, nutritional intervention also reduced the length of hospital stay in neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy patients after surgery (WMD = - 0.82, 95%CI: - 1.61- - 0.02, P = 0.043). However, there was no improvement in nausea (P = 0.534), diarrhea (P = 0.068), febrile neutropenia (P = 0.551), levels of albumin (P = 0.211), prealbumin (P = 0.063), C-reactive protein (P = 0.430), clinical remission (P = 0.148), or postoperative complications (P = 0.098). CONCLUSION Nutritional intervention can reduce the toxicity of neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (vomiting and mucositis), improve the nutritional status of patients, and shorten the length of postoperative hospital stay. Well-designed and high-quality studies are necessary to confirm the effect of nutritional interventions on cancer patients, with a specific focus on reaching nutritional goals and providing the right nutrients.

Abstract
Purpose This study investigated the correlation between the Naples prognostic score (NPS), clinicopathological traits, and the postoperative prognoses of patients with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Based on NPS, a predictive nomogram was developed to estimate the long-term survival probabilities of patients with TNBC post-surgery. Patients and Methods We retrospectively examined the clinical records of 223 women with TNBC treated at Ningbo Medical Center, Lihuili Hospital between January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2020. Blood tests and biochemical analyses were conducted before surgery. The prognostic nutritional index (PNI), controlling nutritional status (CONUT), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio, and NPS were determined based on blood-related markers. A Kaplan-Meier survival analysis assessed the association between NPS, PNI, CONUT score, overall survival (OS), and breast cancer-specific survival (BCSS). Predictive accuracy was evaluated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) and C index. The patients were randomly divided into the training and the validation group (6:4 ratio). A nomogram prediction model was developed and evaluated using the R Software for Statistical Computing (RMS) package. Results NPS outperformed other scores in predicting inflammation outcomes. Patients with an elevated NPS had a poorer prognosis (P<0.001). Lymph node ratio (LNR), surgical method, postoperative chemotherapy, and NPS independently predicted OS, whereas M stage, LNR, and NPS independently predicted BCSS outcome. The OS and BCSS predicted by the nomogram model aligned well with the actual OS and BCSS. The decision curve analysis showed significant clinical utility for the nomogram model. Conclusion In this study, NPS was an important prognostic indicator for patients with TNBC. The nomogram prognostic model based on NPS outperformed other prognostic scores for predicting patient prognosis. The model demonstrated a clear stratification ability for patient prognosis, which emphasized the potential benefits of early intervention for high-risk patients.

Abstract
Problems, such as toxic side effects and drug resistance of chemoradiotherapy, target therapy and immunotherapy accompanying the current anti-cancer treatments, have become bottlenecks limiting the clinical benefit for patients. Therefore, it is urgent to find promising anti-cancer strategies with higher efficacy and lesser side effects. Baicalein, a flavonoid component derived from the Chinese medicine scutellaria baicalensis, has been widely studied for its remarkable anti-cancer activity in multiple types of malignancies both at the molecular and cellular levels. Baicalein exerts its anti-tumor effects by inhibiting angiogenesis, invasion and migration, inducing cell apoptosis and cell cycle arrest, as well as regulating cell autophagy, metabolism, the tumor microenvironment and cancer stem cells with no obvious toxic side effects. The role of classic signaling pathways, such as PI3K/AKT/mTOR, MAPK, AMPK, Wnt/β-catenin, JAK/STAT3, MMP-2/-9, have been highlighted as the major targets for baicalein exerting its anti-malignant potential. Besides, baicalein can regulate the relevant non-coding RNAs, such as lncRNAs, miRNAs and circ-RNAs, to inhibit tumorigenesis and progression. In addition to the mentioned commonalities, baicalein shows some specific anti-tumor characteristics in some specific cancer types. Moreover, the preclinical studies of the combination of baicalein and chemoradiotherapy pave the way ahead for developing baicalein as an adjunct treatment with chemoradiotherapy. Our aim is to summary the role of baicalein in different types of cancer with its mechanisms based on in vitro and in vivo experiments, hoping providing proof for baicalein serving as an effective and safe compound for cancer treatment in clinic in the future.

Abstract
Scientific research has often investigated the role of diet as a risk factor for cancer development. It is well known that cancer has a multifactorial origin in which several factors are involved: genetic predisposition, dietary factors, personal habits, and infectious and environmental factors. In this Commentary, the role of diet in cancer is discussed following the scientific evidence suggesting that excessive consumption of red meat and processed foods is correlated with a greater risk of contracting cancer. Nevertheless, public health strategies on nutrition in cancer prevention are struggling to take off. The decision to pursue a healthier diet, along with a healthier lifestyle, often comes when the cancer diagnosis is made and not before. On the other hand, scientific evidence demonstrates how nutritional support is increasingly important during oncological treatments. This paper highlights how far we are still from the global adoption of a healthy and sustainable food style from a health, economic, social and environmental perspective. Additionally, it highlights the ancient vision of the role of nutrition on cancer development in which diet is seen only as a possible risk factor, underestimating the protective role in terms of cancer prevention and the modulatory one once the oncological diagnosis has been made.

Abstract
Objective Definitive chemoradiotherapy (dCRT) is the standard treatment for unresectable locally advanced esophageal cancer. However, this treatment is associated with substantial toxicity, and most malnourished or elderly patients are unable to complete this therapy. Therefore, there is a need for a more suitable radiotherapy combination regimen for this population. This study was aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a combination regimen comprising chemotherapy with nimotuzumab and S-1 and concurrent radiotherapy for patients with fragile locally advanced esophageal cancer with a high Nutritional Risk Screening 2002 (NRS-2002) score. Methods Eligible patients with unresectable esophageal carcinoma who had an NRS-2002 score of 2 or higher were enrolled. They were treated with S-1 and nimotuzumab with concurrent radiotherapy, followed by surgery or definitive radiotherapy. The primary endpoint was the locoregional control (LRC) rate. Results A total of 55 patients who met the study criteria were enrolled. After completion of treatment, surgery was performed in 15 patients and radiotherapy was continued in 40 patients. The median follow-up period was 33.3 [95% confidence interval (95% CI), 31.4-35.1)] months. The LRC rate was 77.2% (95% CI, 66.6%-89.4%) at 1 year in the entire population. The overall survival (OS) rate and event-free survival (EFS) rate were 57.5% and 51.5% at 3 years, respectively. Surgery was associated with better LRC [hazard ratio (HR)=0.16; 95% CI, 0.04-0.70; P=0.015], OS (HR=0.19; 95% CI, 0.04-0.80; P=0.024), and EFS (HR=0.25; 95% CI, 0.08-0.75; P=0.013). Most adverse events were of grade 1 or 2, and no severe adverse events occurred. Conclusions For malnourished or elderly patients with locally advanced esophageal cancer, radiotherapy combined with nimotuzumab and S-1 is effective and has a good safety profile.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the value of preoperative prognostic nutritional index (PNI) and controlling nutritional status (CONUT) score in predicting response and prognosis of patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) receiving programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) inhibitors. METHODS A retrospective study was conducted in patients who received PD-1 inhibitors for advanced NSCLC. Patients were assigned by immunotherapy effects into response (partial and complete response, pCR) group (n=52) and non-response (non-pCR) group (n=132). The pathological and clinical data were collected for statistical analysis of factors influencing the immunotherapeutic response. The diagnostic value of PNI and CONUT score for response was assessed. The overall survival (OS) was observed over a 3-year follow-up. COX regression analysis was performed to identify risk factors affecting the survival. The effects of different PNI and CONUT scores on the survival were observed. RESULTS Multivariate regression analysis showed that, the tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) stage (P=0.001), PNI (P<0.001), and CONUT score (P<0.001) were associated with response. The non-pCR group had a higher 3-year mortality rate and a shorter 3-year OS than the pCR group (P<0.001). COX regression analysis showed that low PNI and high CONUT score were risk factors for poor prognosis. Further analysis showed that patients with low PNI and high CONUT score had lower 3-year survival rates (P=0.005, P<0.001). CONCLUSION High TNM stage, PNI<50, and CONUT score ≥5 are risk factors for poor response in patients with advanced NSCLC receiving PD-1 inhibitors, and low PNI and high CONUT score suggest poor prognosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The prognostic nutritional index (PNI), a marker of immune-nutrition balance, has predictive value for the survival and prognosis of patients with various cancers. AIM To explore the clinical significance of the preoperative PNI on the prognosis of ampullary adenocarcinoma (AC) patients who underwent curative pancreaticoduodenectomy. METHODS The data concerning 233 patients diagnosed with ACs were extracted and analyzed at our institution from January 1998 to December 2020. All patients were categorized into low and high PNI groups based on the cutoff value determined by receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. We compared disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) between these groups and assessed prognostic factors through univariate and multivariate analyses. RESULTS The optimal cutoff value for the PNI was established at 45.3. Patients with a PNI ≥ 45.3 were categorized into the PNI-high group, while those with a PNI < 45.3 were assigned to the PNI-low group. Patients within the PNI-low group tended to be of advanced age and exhibited higher levels of aspartate transaminase and total bilirubin and a lower creatinine level than were those in the PNI-high group. The 5-year OS rates for patients with a PNI ≥ 45.3 and a PNI < 45.3 were 61.8% and 43.4%, respectively, while the 5-year DFS rates were 53.5% and 38.3%, respectively. Patients in the PNI- low group had shorter OS (P = 0.006) and DFS (P = 0.012). In addition, multivariate analysis revealed that the PNI, pathological T stage and pathological N stage were found to be independent prognostic factors for both OS and DFS. CONCLUSION The PNI is a straightforward and valuable marker for predicting long-term survival after pancreatoduodenectomy. The PNI should be incorporated into the standard assessment of patients with AC.

Abstract
Nutritional status is an essential factor in the occurrence of complications in patients with esophageal cancer. We sought to assess the relationship between malnutrition and complications using various nutritional assessment indicators. We conducted a comprehensive literature search of medical databases for articles published up to July 2023. The primary outcome indicator is the occurrence of complications, for which we combined 95% confidence intervals (CIs) and odds ratios (ORs) for postoperative complications and analyzed them using a random effects model. The analysis was carried out using STATA15.0 software. A total of 33 study groups from 22 publications with 5,675 subjects were included. Pooled results show that nutritional indicators are strongly correlated with the occurrence of postoperative complications (OR = 1.45, 95% CI: 1.30-1.62). In the subgroup analyses, comprehensive indicators and the skeletal muscle index were significantly associated with complications, whereas laboratory indicators were not associated with complications (comprehensive indicators OR = 2.68, 95% CI: 1.80-4.00; skeletal muscle index OR = 2.93, 95% CI: 1.44-5.99; laboratory indicators OR = 1.05, 95% CI: 0.96-1.16). Patients with normal body mass index and hospitalized patients were more likely to develop complications. Malnutrition is strongly associated with the development of complications. Nutritional indicators and patient characteristics influenced this relationship.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the predictive value of preoperative prognostic nutritional index (PNI) and systemic immune inflammation index (SII) in relation to the efficacy and prognosis in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT). METHODS Data of patients with stage IIIA-N2 NSCLC who received NACT in the 910th Hospital of Chinese People's Liberation Army from January 2017 to April 2020 were retrospectively analysed. Patients undergoing NACT were divided into the pCR group (80 cases with complete remission or partial remission) and the non-pCR group (46 cases with stable disease or progressive disease) in accordance with their treatment outcome. The pathologic and clinical data of the patients were collected and analysed to identify the factors affecting efficacy of NACT for stage IIIa-N2 NSCLC, and to evaluate the predictive value of PNI and SII in determining the efficacy of NACT. The patients were followed up for 3 years to observe the overall survival, and Cox regression analysis was employed to identify the risk factors affecting patient survival. Furthermore, the effect of PNI and SII on the survival time was analysed. RESULTS Multivariate regression analysis showed that tumor diameter, PNI, and SII were influencing factors for poor efficacy of NACT in patients with stage IIIa-N2 NSCLC. The non-pCR group exhibited a higher mortality within 3 years, thus a lower 3-year overall survival rate than the pCR group (P<0.05). Cox regression analysis revealed that both PNI and SII were risk factors for poor prognosis in patients with stage IIIa-N2 NSCLC undergoing NACT. Further analysis found a lower 3-year survival rate in patients with low PNI and high SII than in counterparts (P<0.05). CONCLUSION Tumor diameter, PNI and SII are risk factors for poor efficacy in patients with stage IIIa-N2 NSCLC undergoing NACT. Low PNI and high SII can indicate a poor prognosis in these patients.

Abstract
Patients with gastric cancer and early gastric outlet obstruction often experience malnutrition and require various nutritional support strategies. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of different preoperative nutritional treatments on their postoperative recovery and prognosis. The present retrospective study collected data from 467 patients with gastric cancer and early gastric outlet obstruction who underwent surgery at Harbin Medical University Cancer Hospital (Harbin, China) between January 2016 and December 2018. All patients received preoperative nutritional treatment, with a mean treatment duration of 8.23±2.33 days. The present study analyzed associations and survival in different groups using χ2, independent-samples t-test, ANOVA and log-rank tests. Furthermore, single- and multi-factor survival analyses were conducted and nomograms and calibration curves constructed to investigate factors influencing patient survival. In this study, 230 patients (49.3%) received only parenteral nutrition (PN; Group 1), 162 patients (34.7%) received PN combined with enteral nutrition (EN; Group 2) and 75 patients (16.0%) received PN combined with a full- or semi-liquid diet (Group 3). No significant differences in clinical and pathological parameters were observed among the groups. However, Group 2 showed significant advantages in postoperative recovery, including faster time to first postoperative bowel sounds, flatus and bowel movement. Survival analysis indicated that Group 3 had shorter progression-free survival (χ2=30.485) and overall survival (χ2=31.249). Preoperative nutritional treatment was identified as an independent prognostic factor. Preoperative PN combined with EN proved advantageous for postoperative recovery of patients with gastric cancer and early gastric outlet obstruction. Furthermore, PN combined with full- or semi-liquid diets may not have fully met the nutritional needs of these patients, resulting in less favorable clinical outcomes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Textbook outcome (TO) has been widely employed as a comprehensive indicator to assess the short-term prognosis of patients with cancer. Preoperative malnutrition is a potential risk factor for adverse surgical outcomes in patients with gastric cancer (GC). This study aimed to compare the TO between robotic-assisted gastrectomy (RAG) and laparoscopic-assisted gastrectomy (LAG) in malnourished patients with GC. METHODS According to the diagnostic consensus of malnutrition proposed by Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) and Nutrition Risk Index (NRI), 895 malnourished patients with GC who underwent RAG (n = 115) or LAG (n = 780) at a tertiary referral hospital between January 2016 and May 2021 were included in the propensity score matching (PSM, 1:2) analysis. RESULTS After PSM, no significant differences in clinicopathological characteristics were observed between the RAG (n = 97) and LAG (n = 194) groups. The RAG group had significantly higher operative time and lymph nodes harvested, as well as significantly lower blood loss and hospital stay time compared to the LAG group. More patients in the RAG achieved TO. Logistic regression analysis revealed that RAG was an independent protective factor for achieving TO. There were more adjuvant chemotherapy (AC) cycles in the RAG group than in the LAG group. After one year of surgery, a higher percentage of patients (36.7% vs. 22.8%; P < 0.05) in the RAG group recovered from malnutrition compared to the LAG group. CONCLUSIONS For malnourished patients with GC, RAG performed by experienced surgeons can achieved a higher rate of TO than those of LAG, which directly contributed to better AC compliance and a faster restoration of nutritional status.

Abstract
Introduction Malnutrition is prevalent among individuals with gastric cancer and notably decreases their quality of life (QOL). However, the factors impacting QOL are yet to be clearly defined. This study aimed to identify essential factors impacting QOL in malnourished patients suffering from gastric cancer. Methods By using the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) to assess the nutritional status (≥4 defined malnutrition) of hospitalized cancer patients, 4,586 gastric cancer patients were ultimately defined as malnourished. Spearman method was used to calculate the relationship between clinical features and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire (EORTC QLQ-C30). Then, univariate and multivariate logistic regression were used to observe which factors affected QOL, and subgroup analysis was performed in young and old population respectively. In addition, we used univariate and multivariate logistic regression to explore whether and how self-reported frequent symptoms in the last 2 weeks of the PG-SGA score affected QOL. Results In multivariate logistic regression analysis of clinical features of patients with malnourished gastric cancer, women, stage II, stage IV, WL had an independent correlation with a low global QOL scores. However, BMI, secondary education, higher education, surgery, chemotherapy, HGS had an independent correlation with a high global QOL scores. In multivariate logistic regression analysis of symptoms in self-reported PG-SGA scores in patients with malnourished gastric cancer, having no problem eating had an independent correlation with a high global QOL scores. However, they have no appetite, nausea, vomiting, constipation and pain had an independent correlation with a lower global QOL scores. The p values of the above statistical results are both < 0.05. Conclusion This study demonstrates that QOL in malnourished patients with gastric cancer is determined by female sex, stage II, stage IV, BMI, secondary and higher education or above, surgery, chemotherapy, WL, and HGS. Patients' self-reported symptoms of nearly 2 weeks, obtained by using PG-SGA, are also further predictive of malnourished gastric cancer patients. Detecting preliminary indicators of low QOL could aid in identifying patients who might benefit from an early referral to palliative care and assisted nursing.

Abstract
This article describes some of the key prevention services in the Leon Berard Comprehensive Cancer Center (CLB) Lyon, France, which are based on clinical prevention services, outreach activities, and collaboration with professional and territorial health communities. In addition, research is embedded at all stages of the prevention continuum, from understanding cancer causes through to the implementation of prevention interventions during and after cancer. Health promotion activities in the community and dedicated outpatient primary cancer prevention services for individuals at increased risk have been implemented. The CLB's experience illustrates how prevention can be integrated into the comprehensive mission of cancer centers, and how in turn, the cancer centers may contribute to bridging the current fragmentation between cancer care and the different components of primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention. With increasing cancer incidence, the shift toward integrated prevention-centered cancer care is not only key for improving population health, but this may also provide a response to the shortage of hospital staff and overcrowding in cancer services, as well as offer opportunities to reduce carbon emissions from cancer care.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Geriatric nutritional risk index (GNRI) on the prognosis of patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) remains unclear. The purpose of this meta-analysis was to discuss the value of the GNRI in evaluating long-term outcomes in DLBCL. METHODS We systematically and roundly retrieved PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, Scopus and Web of Science electronic databases from inception of the databases to March 20, 2023. At the same time, we calculated the pool hazard ratios (HRs) with their 95% confidence interval (CI) for overall survival and progression-free survival to assess the effect of GNRI on the prognosis of DLBCL patients. RESULTS In our primary meta-analysis, 7 trials with a total of 2448 patients were enrolled. Results showed that lower level of GNRI was related to poorer overall survival (HR = 1.78, 95% CI 1.27, 2.50, p < 0.01) and worse progression-free survival (HR = 2.31, 95% CI 1.71, 3.13, p < 0.01) in DLBCL patients. CONCLUSION The results of our meta-analysis indicate that a lower GNRI significantly associated with poorer prognosis for DLBCL. It is believed that GNRI was a promisingly predictive indicator of survival outcomes in DLBCL patients. However, large multicenter prospective studies are necessary to verify the results.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Studies on the correlation between high body mass index (BMI) and extended survival among patients receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have been made, although findings have shown variability. Our research explored the phenomenon of the "obesity paradox" in patients with metastatic urothelial carcinoma (mUC) undergoing treatment with ICIs. MATERIALS AND METHODS We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients diagnosed with mUC who received a minimum of one cycle of ICI treatment at two medical centers in Taiwan from September 2015 to January 2023. Features of patients' clinicopathologic factors, including age, sex, primary or metastatic location, treatment line, and BMI were examined. The primary outcome were overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS), which were assessed utilizing the Kaplan-Meier method. We employed the Cox-regression model to adjust for multiple covariates. RESULTS A total of 215 patients were included, with 128 (59.5%) being male, and the median age was 70 years. In the obese group (BMI ≥25 kg/m2 ), patients demonstrated significantly better median OS compared to the non-obese group (BMI <25 kg/m2 ) (21.9 vs. 8.3 months; p = 0.021). However, there was no significant difference in median PFS between the high and low BMI groups (4.7 vs. 2.8 months; p = 0.16). Post-hoc subgroup revealed a survival benefit from ICI treatment in male patients within the BMI ≥25 kg/m2 group (HR 0.49, 95% CI 0.30-0.81, p = 0.005). CONCLUSION Based on real-world data from the Asia-Pacific region, there appears to be a correlation between obesity and prolonged OS in patients receiving ICI treatment for mUC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Our objective is to develop a predictive model utilizing the ferritin and transferrin ratio (FTR) and clinical factors to forecast overall survival (OS) in breast cancer (BC) patients. METHODS We conducted a retrospective analysis of clinical data from 2858 BC patients diagnosed between 2013 and 2021. Subsequently, the cohort of 2858 BC patients underwent random assignment into distinct subsets: a training cohort comprising 2002 patients and a validation cohort comprising 856 patients, maintaining a proportional ratio of 7:3. Employing multivariable Cox regression analysis within the training cohort, we derived a prognostic nomogram. The predictive performance was assessed using calibration curves, C-index, and decision curve analysis. RESULTS The final prognostic model included the TNM stage, subtype, hemoglobin levels, and the ferritin-transferrin ratio. The nomogram achieved a C-index of .794 (95% CI: .777-.810). The nomogram demonstrated superior predictive accuracy for OS at 3, 5, and 7 years for BC, with area under the time-dependent curves of .812, .782, and .773, respectively. These values notably outperformed those of the conventional TNM stage. Decision curve analysis reaffirmed the greater net benefit of our nomogram compared to the TNM stage. These findings were subsequently validated in the independent validation cohort. CONCLUSION The FTR-based prognostic model may predict a patient's OS better than the TNM stage in a clinical setting. The nomogram can provide an early, affordable, and reliable tool for survival prediction, as well as aid clinicians in treatment option-making and prognosis evaluation. However, further multi-center prospective trials are required to confirm the reliability of the existing nomogram.

Abstract
Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are a type of RNAs that are more than 200 nucleotides without protein-coding potential. In recent years, more and more attention has been paid to the role of lncRNAs in cancer pathogenesis. LncRNA KCNQ1 overlapping transcript 1 (KCNQ1OT1) is located on chromosome 11p15.5 with a total length of 91 kb and is highly expressed in various malignancies, which is closely related to tumor growth, lymph node metastasis, survival cycle and recurrence rate. In addition, KCNQ1OT1 is involved in the regulation of PI3K/AKT and Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathways. In this review, the mechanism and related progress of KCNQ1OT1 in different cancers were reviewed. It was found that KCNQ1OT1 can stabilize mRNA expression through sponging miRNA, which not only induced tumor cell proliferation, migration, invasion, drug resistance, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and inhibited cell apoptosis in vitro, but also promoted tumor growth and metastasis in vivo. Therefore, as a new biomarker and therapeutic target, KCNQ1OT1 has broad prospects for the diagnosis and treatment of different cancers.

Abstract
Children, adolescents, and young adult cancer survivors (CAYAs) constitute a growing population requiring a customized approach to mitigate the incidence of severe complications throughout their lifetimes. During cancer treatment, CAYAs cancer survivors undergo significant disruptions in their nutritional status, elevating the risks of mortality, morbidity, and cardiovascular events. The assessment of nutritional status during cancer treatment involves anthropometric and dietary evaluations, emphasizing the necessity for regular assessments and the timely identification of risk factors. Proactive nutritional interventions, addressing both undernutrition and overnutrition, should be tailored to specific age groups and incorporate a family-centered approach. Despite encouraging interventions, a notable evidence gap persists. The goal of this review is to comprehensively examine the existing evidence on potential nutritional interventions for CAYAs cancer survivors. We explore the evidence so far collected on the nutritional intervention strategies elaborated for CAYAs cancer survivors that should target both undernutrition and overnutrition, being age-specific and involving a family-based approach. Furthermore, we suggest harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) to anticipate and prevent malnutrition in CAYAs cancer survivors, contributing to the identification of novel risk factors and promoting proactive, personalized healthcare.

BACKGROUND Malnutrition is the most common complication in postoperative liver cancer patients. This study aimed to investigate the effects of the Home to Hospital to Home nutrition management program on postoperative liver cancer patients. METHODS A total of 184 liver cancer patients were randomly assigned to either an intervention group (treated under the Home to Hospital to Home nutrition management program) or a control group (treated with the general nutritional method). Nutrition-related indicators, such as prealbumin (PA) and albumin, were assessed before and after treatment in both groups. The incidence of complications (e.g., nausea or vomiting, bloating, difficulty defecating, ascites), length of hospital stay, first time to anal exhaust and out-of-bed activity, and patient satisfaction were recorded. RESULTS A total of 184 liver cancer patients were randomly assigned to either an intervention group (treated under the Home to Hospital to Home nutrition management program) or a control group (treated with the general nutritional method). Abstract
Weight gain after breast cancer diagnosis is associated with adverse health outcomes. Yet, few studies have characterized post-diagnosis weight change in the modern treatment era or populations most at risk for weight changes. Among women diagnosed with stages I-III breast cancer in the Smilow Care Network (2013-2019; N = 5441), we abstracted demographic and clinical characteristics from electronic health records and survival data from tumor registries. We assessed if baseline characteristics modified weight trajectories with nonlinear multilevel mixed-effect models. We evaluated body mass index (BMI) at diagnosis and weight change 1-year post-diagnosis in relation to all-cause and breast cancer-specific mortality with Cox proportional hazard models. Women had 34.4 ± 25.5 weight measurements over 3.2 ± 1.8 years of follow-up. Weight gain was associated with ER/PR-, HER2+ tumors, BMI ≤ 18.5 kg/m2, and age ≤ 45 years (+4.90 kg (standard error [SE] = 0.59), +3.24 kg (SE = 0.34), and +1.75 kg (SE = 0.10), respectively). Weight loss was associated with BMI ≥ 35 kg/m2 and age ≥ 70 years (-4.50 kg (SE = 0.08) and -4.34 kg (SE = 0.08), respectively). Large weight loss (≥10%), moderate weight loss (5-10%), and moderate weight gain (5-10%) 1-year after diagnosis were associated with higher all-cause mortality (hazard ratio [HR] = 2.93, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 2.28-3.75, HR = 1.32, 95% CI = 1.02-1.70 and HR = 1.39, 95% CI = 1.04-1.85, respectively). BMI ≥ 35 kg/m2 or BMI ≤ 18.5 kg/m2 at diagnosis were also associated with higher all-cause mortality. Weight change after a breast cancer diagnosis differed by demographic and clinical characteristics highlighting subgroups at-risk for weight change during a 5-year period post-diagnosis. Monitoring and interventions for weight management early in clinical care are important.

Abstract
PURPOSE Successful completion of chemotherapy is critical to improve breast cancer outcomes. Relative dose intensity (RDI), defined as the ratio of chemotherapy delivered to prescribed, is a measure of chemotherapy completion and is associated with cancer mortality. The effect of exercise and eating a healthy diet on RDI is unknown. We conducted a randomized trial of an exercise and nutrition intervention on RDI and pathologic complete response (pCR) in women diagnosed with breast cancer initiating chemotherapy. METHODS One hundred seventy-three women with stage I-III breast cancer were randomly assigned to usual care (UC; n = 86) or a home-based exercise and nutrition intervention with counseling sessions delivered by oncology-certified registered dietitians (n = 87). Chemotherapy dose adjustments and delays and pCR were abstracted from electronic medical records. T-tests and chi-square tests were used to examine the effect of the intervention versus UC on RDI and pCR. RESULTS Participants randomly assigned to intervention had greater improvements in exercise and diet quality compared with UC (P < .05). RDI was 92.9% ± 12.1% and 93.6% ± 11.1% for intervention and UC, respectively (P = .69); the proportion of patients in the intervention versus UC who achieved ≥85% RDI was 81% and 85%, respectively (P = .44). The proportion of patients who had at least one dose reduction and/or delay was 38% intervention and 36% UC (P = .80). Among 72 women who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy, women randomly assigned to intervention were more likely to have a pCR than those randomly assigned to UC (53% v 28%; P = .037). CONCLUSION Although a diet and exercise intervention did not affect RDI, the intervention was associated with a higher pCR in patients with hormone receptor-positive/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative and triple-negative breast cancer undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The Naples Score (NPS) is a novel prognostic indicator that has been used in various cancers, but its potential in breast malignant tumor patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) has not been discovered. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between NPS and overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) in breast cancer patients. METHODS A total of 217 breast cancer patients undergoing NAC were incorporated into this retrospectively research. K-M survival curves and log-rank tests are used to determine OS and DFS. Cox regression model was used to evaluate the relationship between NPS and OS and DFS. Nomogram was developed based on the results of multivariate Cox regression analysis. Prognostic models were internally validated using bootstrapping and the consistency index (C-index). RESULTS Age group was correlated with NPS (p < 0.05). Low and moderate Naples risk patients had higher 5-year OS and DFS rates than high risk Naples patients (93.8% vs. 75.4% vs. 60.0%; X2 = 9.2, P = 0.01; 82.4% vs 64.5% vs 43.7%; X2 = 7.4, P = 0.024; respectively). The nomogram based on demonstrated good performance in predicting OS and DFS (AUC = 0.728, 0.630; respectively). CONCLUSIONS In breast cancer patients who have undergone NAC, NPS is a novel prognostic indicator. NPS combined with clinicopathological features showed good predictive ability, and its performance was better than that of traditional pathological TNM staging.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The nutritional status of individuals with cancer is a crucial determinant of their health and well-being, and addressing nutrition-related functioning conditions is essential for maintaining physical activity levels and participating in daily activities. AIM This study aims to identify an evidence-based International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) scale using item response theory for nutrition conditions in patients with cancer, which can differentiate and assess nutrition-related functioning conditions of cancer survivors. DESIGN Cross-sectional study. SETTING Sir Run Run Hospital, Nanjing Medical University. POPULATION One hundred cancer patients were enrolled. METHODS Via convenience sampling, the study administered a questionnaire consisting of 89 ICF items to participants. The original five-point rating system was binarized (1 = no problem, 0 = problem). Through data shaping, non-parametric IRT analysis and parametric IRT analysis, psychometric properties of nutritional ICF scale were calculated using R software. RESULTS The study extracted a unidimensional scale with 32 items and constructed 2-parameter logistic model with good fitness, whose root mean square error approximation (RMSEA) = 0.0759, Tucker-Lewis Index (TLI) = 0.9655, and Comparative Fit Index (CFI) = 0.9677. The model demonstrated high reliability, as indicated by a Cronbach's α of 0.95, Guttman λ2 of 0.95, Molenaar Sijtsma statistic of 0.96 and a latent class reliability coefficient (LCRC) of 0.98. Besides, there was a strong correlation between the total score of 32 ICF items and the score of Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA, P<0.001, r=-0.77) and Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA, P<0.001, r=0.76), suggesting the 32-item scale had high validity. CONCLUSIONS The study constructed an evidence-based ICF scale for nutrition conditions in patients with cancer with 32-item and 2PLM for evaluating nutrition-associated health level in persons with cancer, including high validity and reliability. CLINICAL REHABILITATION IMPACT The IRT model based on ICF provided a promising assessment tool to discriminate nutrition-associated health level of persons with cancer, and offered an auxiliary method for selecting rehabilitation intervention targets. This has the potential to lead to improved outcomes in cancer treatment and increased quality of life for cancer survivors.

Abstract
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common causes of death and the third most diagnosed cancer worldwide. The tumor microenvironment and cancer stem cells participate in colorectal tumor progression and can dictate malignancy. Nutrition status affects treatment response and the progression or recurrence of the tumor. This review summarizes the main bioactive compounds against the molecular pathways related to colorectal carcinogenesis. Moreover, we focus on the compounds with chemopreventive properties, mainly polyphenols and carotenoids, which are highly studied dietary bioactive compounds present in major types of food, like vegetables, fruits, and seeds. Their proprieties are antioxidant and gut microbiota modulation, important in the intestine because they decrease reactive oxygen species and inflammation, both principal causes of cancer. These compounds can promote apoptosis and inhibit cell growth, proliferation, and migration. Combined with oncologic treatment, a sensitization to first-line colorectal chemotherapy schemes, such as FOLFOX and FOLFIRI, is observed, making them an attractive and natural support in the oncologic treatment of CRC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Nutrition has become an important parameter influencing the prognosis of several cancers. However, its impact on outcomes for bladder cancer (BC) is still unclear. This review examines the association between three commonly used nutritional indices, namely, the prognostic nutritional index (PNI), controlling nutritional status (CONUT), and the geriatric nutritional risk index (GNRI) and outcomes of BC. METHODS PubMed, CENTRAL, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, and Google Scholar were explored for studies published up to April 13, 2023. Data from studies were pooled to examine the association between PNI, CONUT, or GNRI and overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS). RESULTS Thirteen studies were included. Meta-analysis demonstrated significantly poor OS with low PNI versus high PNI in BC patients (hazard ratio [HR]: 1.71; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.37, 2.14; I2 = 0%). This result remained significant in various subgroup analyses. However, no association was noted between PNI and RFS (HR: 1.22; 95% CI: 0.67, 2.24; I2 = 84%). Meta-analysis showed that patients with high CONUT scores had significantly poor OS (HR: 2.43; 95% CI: 1.82, 3.25; I2 = 0%) as well as RFS (HR: 2.90; 95% CI: 2.10, 4.01; I2 = 0%). Data on GNRI were scarce and conflicting. CONCLUSION Limited data show that PNI and CONUT are predictive of outcomes in BC. Low PNI was associated with poor OS, while high CONUT was associated with poor OS and RFS. Data on GNRI are too scarce to obtain conclusions. Further studies are needed to supplement the results.

Abstract
Background The clinical value of the controlling nutritional status (CONUT) score has been widely reported in multiple malignancies. The aim of this study is to investigate the association between the CONUT score and clinical outcomes in patients with gastric cancer. Methods A comprehensive literature search of electronic databases including PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science was performed up to December 2022. The primary endpoints were survival outcomes and postoperative complications. Subgroup analysis and sensitivity analysis were performed during the pooled analysis. Results Nineteen studies including 9,764 patients were included. The pooled results indicated that patients in the high CONUT group had a worse overall survival (HR = 1.70 95%CI: 1.54-1.87; P < 0.0001; I 2 = 33%) and recurrence-free survival (HR = 1.57; 95%CI: 1.36-1.82; P < 0.0001; I 2 = 30%), and a higher risk of complications (OR = 1.96; 95%CI: 1.50-2.57; P < 0.0001; I 2 = 69%). In addition, a high CONUT score was significantly associated with larger tumor size, higher percentage of microvascular invasion, later TNM stage and fewer patients receiving adjuvant chemotherapy, but not with tumor differentiation. Conclusion Based on existing evidence, the CONUT score could act as a valuable biomarker to predict clinical outcomes in patients with gastric cancer. Clinicians could use this useful indicator to stratify patients and formulate individual treatment plans.

Abstract
The prognosis of patients with advanced adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is often poor: in the case of metastatic disease, five-year survival is reduced. Advanced disease is not a non-curable disease and, in referral centers, the multidisciplinary approach is the standard of care: if a shared decision regarding several treatments is available, including the correct timing for the performance of each one, overall survival is increased. However, many patients with advanced ACC experience severe psychological and physical symptoms secondary to the disease and the cancer treatments. These symptoms, combined with existential issues, debase the quality of the remaining life. Recent strong evidence from cancer research supports the early integration of palliative care principles and skills into the advanced cancer patient's trajectory, even when asymptomatic. A patient with ACC risks quickly suffering from symptoms/effects alongside the disease; therefore, early palliative care, in some cases concurrent with oncological treatment (simultaneous care), is suggested. The aims of this paper are to review current, advanced ACC approaches, highlight appropriate forms of ACC symptom management and suggest when and how palliative care can be incorporated into the ACC standard of care.
