Abstract
Wearable devices hold promising prospects on a global scale, including in China. Thyroid cancer prevalence is notably high in China.This purpose of this researchwas to provide an updated theoretical model for assessing Chinese thyroid cancer patients' intentions towards wearable devices, based on the UTAUT2 framework, and to ascertain the factors that have an impact on these intents. A cross-sectional study with an institutional focus wasconducted from January 20, 2023, to June 30, 2023, at several general hospitals in China. Five hundred participants were recruited to identify predictors of wearable device use.The questionnaire survey about patients' intentionswas collected using a face-to-face method, employing a random sampling technique for patient selection. Four hundred sixty-nine individuals (93.8%) had the intention to use wearable devices. The intentions were highly impacted by performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI), hedonic motivation (HM), price value (PV) and habit (HA). Usage intention (UI)was a statistically predictor of Usage behavior (UB). The facilitating condition(FC) was not significant. Gender positively moderated the relationship between EE and UI. Income positively moderated the relationship between all variables and UI.Overall, the utilization of wearable devices among patients diagnosed with thyroid cancer has demonstrated considerable potential. This study offers a series of suggestions for digital health developers,healthcare decision-makers,doctors and patients.

Abstract
Background Picture archiving and communication system is an innovation system in the health information that reduces costs, facilitates access to medical image, and improves workflow in radiology department. However, studies indicated that intention and usage of picture archiving and communication system is limited in middle-income and developing countries. Objective This study aimed to assess the intention to use picture archiving and communication system and its predictors among physicians and nurses at specialized teaching hospitals in Amhara region, Northwest Ethiopia. Method Institution-based cross-sectional study design was conducted from October 11 to November 12, 2023. Proportional allocation and a simple random sampling were used to select participants of the study. A self-administered structured English questionnaire was used, and a 5% pretest was performed. Data were entered into Epi data 4.6 and exported to SPSS 26 and AMOS 23. Descriptive and structural equation modeling analysis was performed. The hypothesis was tested using a path coefficient and a p-value <0.05. Results About 54.7% (95%: CI: 50.9-58.4) of the participant intended to use picture archive and communication system with a 90.38% of response rate. Performance expectancy (β = 0.146, p-value <0.05), perceived enjoyment (β = 0.397, p-value <0.001), and computer literacy (β = 0.191, p-value <0.001) had positive influence on intention to use picture archiving and communication system. Conclusions Overall, more than half of physicians' and nurses' intention to use picture archiving and communication system were at hopeful stage for future. Performance expectancy, perceived enjoyment and computer literacy had direct positive effect on intention to use picture archiving and communication system among physicians and nurses. The designers, developers, and managers of the picture archiving and communication system should consider these variables. Furthermore, using this system can improve quality of health service through change workflow in to digital image, clinicians evaluate image more quickly and saving resources.

Abstract
The technology to jet print metal lines with precise shape fidelity on diverse substrates is gaining higher interest across multiple research fields. It finds applications in additively manufactured flexible electronics, environmentally friendly and sustainable electronics, sensor devices for medical applications, and fabricating electrodes for solar cells. This paper provides an experimental investigation to deepen insights into the non-contact printing of solder lines using StarJet technology, eliminating the need for surface activation, substrate heating, curing, or post-processing. Moreover, it employs bulk metal instead of conventional inks or pastes, leading to cost-effective production and enhanced conductivity. The effect of molten metal temperature, substrate temperature, standoff distance, and printing velocity was investigated on polymer foils (i.e., PET sheets). Robust printing parameters were derived to print uniform, bulge-free, bulk metal lines suitable for additive manufacturing applications. The applicability of the derived parameters was extended to 3D-printed PLA, TPU, PA-GF, and PETG substrates having a much higher surface roughness. Additionally, a high aspect ratio of approx. 16:1 wall structure has been demonstrated by printing multiple metal lines on top of each other. While challenges persist, this study contributes to advancing additively manufactured electronic devices, highlighting the capabilities of StarJet metal jet-printing technology.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Wearable devices have been used extensively both inside and outside of the hospital setting. During the COVID-19 pandemic, in some contexts, there was an increased need to remotely monitor pulse and saturated oxygen for patients due to the lack of staff and bedside monitors. OBJECTIVE A prototype of a remote monitoring system using wearable pulse oximeter devices was implemented at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from August to December 2021. The aim of this work was to support the ongoing implementation of the remote monitoring system. METHODS We used an action learning approach with rapid pragmatic methods, including informal discussions and observations as well as a feedback survey form designed based on the technology acceptance model to assess the use and acceptability of the system. Based on these results, we facilitated a meeting using user-centered design principles to explore user needs and ideas about its development in more detail. RESULTS In total, 21 users filled in the feedback form. The mean technology acceptance model scores ranged from 3.5 (for perceived ease of use) to 4.4 (for attitude) with behavioral intention (3.8) and perceived usefulness (4.2) scoring in between. Those working as nurses scored higher on perceived usefulness, attitude, and behavioral intention than did physicians. Based on informal discussions, we realized there was a mismatch between how we (ie, the research team) and the ward teams perceived the use and wider purpose of the technology. CONCLUSIONS Designing and implementing the devices to be more nurse-centric from their introduction could have helped to increase their efficiency and use during the complex pandemic period.

Abstract
Addressing the growing popularity of mobile health (m-Health) technology in the health industry, the current study examined consumers' intention and behaviour related to the usage of digital applications based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). In particular, this study quantitatively assessed the moderating role of perceived product value and mediating role of intention to use m-Health application among Indonesians. This study adopted a cross-sectional design and collected quantitative data from conveniently selected respondents through an online survey, which involved 2068 Telegram users in Indonesia. All data were subjected to the analysis of partial least square- structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The obtained results demonstrated the moderating effect of perceived product value on the relationship between intention to use m-Health application (m-health app) and actual usage of m-Health app and the mediating effects of intention to use m-Health app on the relationships of perceived critical mass, perceived usefulness, perceived convenience, perceived technology accuracy, and perceived privacy protection on actual usage of m-Health app. However, the intention to use m-Health app did not mediate the influence of health consciousness and health motivation on the actual usage of m-Health app. Overall, this study's findings on the significance of intention to use m-Health app and perceived product value based on the UTAUT framework serve as insightful guideline to expand the usage of m-Health app among consumers.

Abstract
Technology plays a substantial role in our daily lives, and the spread of COVID-19 paves the way for the use of healthcare technologies to manage health in the comfort of our homes. Middle-aged and older adults face health issues and require instant healthcare advice and support. Electronic healthcare (EH) applications have emerged to facilitate middle-aged and older adults receiving healthcare support instantly while remaining in their homes. The present study empirically evaluates the intention and adoption of electronic health applications with the technological attributes of perceived compatibility, cost, product value, technology accuracy, privacy issues and health motivation among middle-aged and older adults from Malaysia. Moreover, this research examines the mediating effect of the intention to adopt EH applications between technology attributes and the adoption of EH applications. This study uses a cross-sectional method and employs an online survey to assemble quantitative data from 298 middle-aged and older Malaysian adults. It utilizes partial least squares structural equation modelling for data analysis. The data analysis reveals that perceived compatibility, cost, privacy, product value and health motivation significantly influenced the intention to use EH apps. Furthermore, the analysis shows that the intention to adopt EH apps significantly mediates the relationship between the perception of cost, personal privacy, product value, health motivation and adoption of EH apps. However, the intention to use EH apps insignificantly instigates their adoption. Finally, the study presents its implications, limitations and future research directions.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess healthcare providers' intentions and the associated factors to use mobile phone-based short message service (SMS) to support adherence and care of tuberculosis (TB) patients in the Oromia region of southwest Ethiopia. STUDY DESIGN An institutional-based cross-sectional study was conducted from October to November 2022. STUDY SETTING The study was conducted in public hospitals which include Mettu Karl referral hospital, Dembi Hospital, Bedelle Hospital, Darimu Hospital and Chora Hospital in Ilu Aba Bor and Buno Bedelle zones. PARTICIPANTS A total of 625 (54.9% male and 45.1% female) health professionals participated in the study. The study participants were selected using a simple random sampling technique. All health professionals permanently working in Ilu Aba Bor and Buno Bedelle zone hospitals were included in this study. However, health professionals with less than 6 months of experience and those who were not present during the data collection period were excluded from this study. OUTCOME MEASURE The intention to use mobile phone-based SMS to support TB patients. RESULTS Healthcare professionals' intention to use mobile SMS was 54.4%. Effort expectancy had a significant direct effect on attitude (β=0.162, p<0.01) and intention towards using mobile phone SMS (β=0.329, p<0.001). The intention to use mobile phone SMS was directly influenced by facilitating conditions (β=0.104, p<0.01) and attitude (β=0.26, p<0.001). The relationship between effort expectancy and intention to use SMS was mediated by attitude (β=0.043, p<0.01). CONCLUSIONS Overall, intention to use of mobile-based SMS was high. Effort expectancy, attitude and facilitating conditions were significant factors that determined healthcare professionals' behavioural intention to use mobile phone SMS. Effort expectancy had a more significant prediction power than others. As a result, system forms that are easily interactive and applicable should be implemented to improve capacity building and support the adherence and care of TB patients.

Abstract
The advancement of health apps and wearables has garnered substantial academic attention, particularly in examining why individuals decide to use or not use them. In response to the extensive body of research on this topic, we conducted a scoping review of 61 articles published from 2007 to 2022, aiming to examine the dominant theoretical frameworks and antecedents of health apps and wearables use. The findings demonstrated that the dominant theoretical frameworks within this domain were rooted in the human-computer interaction theories, notably the Technology Acceptance Model and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology. Next, our review identified four levels of antecedents: technological, individual, societal, and policy. At the technological level, emphasis was placed on functionality, reliability, and technological infrastructure. Individual antecedents encompassed socio-demographics, personality traits, cognitive responses to benefits and risks, emotional and affective responses, self-efficacy, and digital literacy. Societal antecedents highlighted the role of social networks and social norms, while policy antecedents elaborated on laws, regulations, and guidelines that encouraged health technology adoption. Our discussion illuminated that the evolving trend of theoretical frameworks in health apps and wearables use research, initially rooted in human-computer interaction, is progressively moving toward more comprehensive perspectives. We further underscored the importance of delving into societal and policy antecedents, which often are overshadowed by the more commonly discussed technological and individual factors. In conclusion, we advocated for a multi-stakeholder collaborative network approach, as this would enable communication researchers to understand the use of health apps and wearables more comprehensively.

Abstract
Wearable healthcare devices (HWDs) got prominence, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Aiming to know the proliferation of the HWDS, this study tries to evaluate the intentions of the old-age population to use the devices. To this end, the protection motivation theory (PMT) coupled with health information accuracy, perceived novelty, perceived ease of use, hedonic motivation, health anxiety, and health consciousness were investigated as predictors of HWDs among senior Pakistani citizens. A total of 310 participants who knew how the smartwatches could be used as a health monitoring device, were surveyed to empirically test the model. The required data were then analyzed using structural equation modeling. The findings reveal that the protective, utilitarian, and personal attributes of HWDs play a significant role in choosing the HWDs. While addressing their healthcare issues, senior citizens are highly receptive to perceived usefulness, accurate information accuracy, self-efficacy, perceived severity, health consciousness, and perceived vulnerability during COVID-19. These factors have a positive impact on their willingness to use HWDs. The study educates healthcare management and users to focus on the determining factors that can enhance the use of HWDs.

Abstract
The demand for mobile e-health technologies (m-health) continues with constant growth, stimulating the technological advancement of such devices. However, the customer needs to perceive the utility of these devices to incorporate them into their daily lives. Hence, this study aims to identify users' perceptions regarding the acceptance of m-health technologies based on a synthesis of meta-analysis studies on the subject in the literature. Using the relations and constructs proposed in the UTAUT2 (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2) technology acceptance model, the methodological approach utilized a meta-analysis to raise the effect of the main factors on the Behavioral Intention to Use m-health technologies. Furthermore, the model proposed also estimated the moderation effect of gender, age, and timeline variables on the UTAUT2 relations. In total, the meta-analysis utilized 84 different articles, which presented 376 estimations based on a sample of 31,609 respondents. The results indicate an overall compilation of the relations, as well as the primary factors and moderating variables that determine users' acceptance of the studied m-health systems.

Abstract
Objective The current study explores the formation of an intention to use wearable fitness devices (WFDs) with wearable fitness attributes and health consciousness (HCS). Moreover, the research examines the use of WFDs with the health motivation (HMT) and intention to use WFDs. The study also exposes the moderating effect of HMT between the intention to use WFDs and the use of WFDs. Methods Five hundred and twenty-five adults participated in the current study, and data were collected from January 2021 to March 2021 through the online survey of Malaysian respondents. The cross-sectional data was analyzed using the second-generation statistical method of partial least square structural equation modeling. Results HCS is insignificantly associated with the intention to use WFDs. Perceived compatibility, perceived product value, perceived usefulness, and perceived technology accuracy significantly influence the intention to use WFDs. HMT significantly impacts the adoption of WFDs; however, the intention to use WFDs negatively but significantly influences the use of WFDs. Lastly, the association between the intention to use WFDs and the adoption of WFDs is significantly moderated by HMT. Conclusions Our study findings illuminate the significant impact of technology-level attributes of WFDs on the intention to use WFDs. However, an insignificant impact of HCS on the intention to use WFDs was reported. Our result confirms that HMT plays a significant role in the use of WFDs. Such as the moderating role of HMT is vital to transform the intention to use WFDs into the adoption of WFDs.

Abstract
The world is witnessing an increasing number of senior adult residents who experience health issues. Healthcare innovation facilitates monitoring the health conditions of senior adults and reducing the burden on healthcare institutions. The study explored the effect of health improvement expectancy, effort expectancy, price value, perceived vulnerability, health consciousness, and perceived reliability on the intention and adoption of medical wearable devices (MWD) among senior adults in China. Furthermore, a cross-sectional design was adopted, while quantitative data was collected from 304 senior adults through an online survey. A hybrid approach of partial least square structural equational modeling and artificial neural network-based analysis technique was adopted. The findings demonstrated that health improvement expectancy, perceived vulnerability, price value, and perceived reliability significantly affected the intention to adopt MWDs. Moreover, the intention to adopt MWDs significantly positively affected the actual adoption of MWDs among senior adults. Although the moderating effect of the pre-existing conditions and income between the intention to use MWDs and actual adoption of MWDs was positive, it was not statistically significant. The artificial neural network analysis has proven that perceived reliability, price value, and vulnerability are the most critical factors contributing to the intention to use MWDs. The current study offered valuable insights into the factors affecting the intention and adoption of MWDs among senior adults. Following that, theoretical and practical contributions were documented to improve the ease of use and price value for the prospective users of MWDs. The correct healthcare policies could curtail the influx of senior adults into the hospital and empower these adults to track and manage their health issues at home.

Abstract
The transfer of young fecal microbiota has been found to significantly refresh the reproductive endocrine system and effectively ameliorate the toxicity of perfluorobutanesulfonate (PFBS) in aged zebrafish recipients. However, the mechanisms underlying the antagonistic action of young fecal microbiota against the reproductive endocrine toxicity of PFBS remain largely unknown. In this study, the aged zebrafish were transplanted with feces from young donors and then exposed to PFBS for 14 days. After exposure, the shift in the transcriptomic fingerprint of the gonads was profiled by using high-throughput sequencing, aiming to provide mechanistic clues into the interactive mode of action between young fecal transplantation and PFBS's innate toxicity. The results showed that the gene transcription pattern associated with protein and lipid synthesis in the gonads of the aged individuals was quite different from the young counterparts. It was intriguing that the transplantation of young feces established a youth-like transcriptomic phenotype in the elderly recipients, thus attenuating the functional decline and maintaining a healthy aging state of the gonads. A sex specificity response was clearly observed. Compared to the aged females, more metabolic pathways (e.g., glycine, serine, and threonine metabolism; glyoxylate and dicarboxylate metabolism; pyrimidine metabolism) were significantly enriched in aged males receiving young feces transplants. PFBS dramatically altered the transcriptome of aged testes, while a much milder effect was observable in aged ovaries. Accordingly, a suite of biological processes related to germ cell proliferation were disrupted by PFBS in aged males, including the ECM-receptor interaction, retinol metabolism, and folate biosynthesis. In aged ovaries exposed to PFBS, mainly the fatty acid and arginine biosynthesis pathway was significantly affected. However, these transcriptomic disorders caused by PFBS were largely mitigated in aged gonads by transferring young feces. Overall, the present findings highlighted the potential of young fecal transplantation to prevent the functional compromise of gonads resulting from aging and PFBS.

Abstract
Mobile technology is popular because it facilitates users in multiple ways. This technology is revolutionising the healthcare industry, and mobile-based wearable medical devices (WMDs) are becoming common. Technology adoption is always challenging, and technology value is based on the technology attributes and personal inclination towards using the technology. This study investigates how the perceived product value is influenced by compatibility, cost, personal privacy, technology accuracy, and usefulness. The perceived product value instigates the intention to use wearable medical devices and health motivation (HMT), and the intention to use promotes the adoption of WMDs. Furthermore, the relationship between the intention to use and the adoption of WMDs is moderated by HMT. The current work employed a cross-sectional research design, and data were collected through an online survey of Malaysian adults. Data analysis was performed using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). The analysis revealed that the WMDs' compatibility, cost, and technology accuracy significantly influenced the WMDs' value. Besides, the perceived product value impacted the intention to use WMDs, while HMT and intention to use WMDs insignificantly influenced the adoption of WMDs. Finally, HMT significantly moderated the relationship between the intention to use and the adoption of WMDs. This study also reports the limitations and future research opportunities.

Abstract
Wearable fitness devices (WFDs) are prevalent personal technology that empowers the users' management and supervision of their personal health. The current study explored the impact of health consciousness, health motivation, perceived cost, compatibility, usefulness, and perceived technology accuracy with the intention to use the WFDs. Furthermore, the users' conspicuous consumption and intention promote the usage of WFDs. A cross-sectional and quantitative research design was utilized for the current study, followed by data collection through social media and a final analysis with 1,071 samples data. The data analysis was accomplished with the partial least square regression structural equation modeling. The findings of this study revealed that the users' level of health consciousness, perceived compatibility, usefulness, perceived cost, and technology accuracy significantly influenced the intention to use WFDs. However, the conspicuous consumption and intention indicated the support for the usage behavior of the WFDs. This behavior significantly moderated the relationship between the intention and usage behavior for the WFDs. This study contributed to the theoretical realm for prompting the intention to use the WFDs with personal protection motivation that depicts the coping strategy and technology level attributes that form the intention to use WFDs. The WFDs manufacturers should therefore focus on developing WFDs features that harness usage behavior among the adults. Developing the personal responsibility to reduce the burden of the healthcare system and taking care of personal health could promote the usage of the WFDs.

Abstract
Digital technologies empower users to manage their health and reduce the burden on the public health system. The mass adoption of wearable medical devices (WMDs) promotes the ageing population’s confidence besides facilitating users. Thus, the current study aims to empirically evaluate the formation of perceived product value (PPV) with the WMDs’ computability, usefulness, cost, and accuracy, the intention to use WMDs influenced by health consciousness (HCS), health anxiety (HAY), product value, and perceived critical mass (PCM), and later the adoption of WMDs among Chinese adults. The study examined the mediating effect of PPV on the relationship between the intention to use WMDs and perceived compatibility (PCT), perceived cost (PCO), perceived usefulness (PUS), and perceived technology accuracy (PTA). This study adopted a cross-sectional approach and used an online survey to collect quantitative data from 1,160 Chinese adults. Data analysis was performed using the partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). Results showed that PCT, PUS, and PTA significant positive effect on PPV. Meanwhile, HCS, PCM, and PPV has a significant positive effect on intention to use WMDs, and the intention to use WMDs and PCM influenced the adoption of WMDs. Consequently, the analysis confirmed that PPV mediated the relationships between the intention to use WMD and PCT, PUS, and PTA. The WMD cost must be reduced to enhance the value of WMDs. Finally, the study’s implications, limitations, and suggestions for future studies are discussed.

Abstract
PurposeThis empirical study examines the drivers of consumer intention to adopt wearable technology for healthcare in a South American country. Specifically, it proposes and tests a model of nonuser consumer intention to adopt fitness trackers for healthcare purpose in Chile.Design/methodology/approachThis study draws on the technology acceptance framework UTAUT2 to develop and test a conceptual model of wearable technology adoption. Data were collected through an online survey applied to 470 nonusers of wearable technology in Santiago, Chile.FindingsFindings indicate that hedonic motivation, social influence and perceived usefulness have the strongest influence on intention to adopt fitness trackers in Chile for healthcare. In addition, health motivation is an indirect predictor of consumer's intention to adopt wearable technology through its effect on perceived usefulness.Practical implicationsThe study contributes to a better understanding of consumer intention to adopt wearable technology for healthcare objectives in a less developed country in South America. Findings are useful for wearable technology managers, retail business and public policymakers.Originality/valueDespite the vast growth and importance of wearable technology for healthcare purposes, academic research considering less developed countries is scarce, especially the South American region. The proposed model and findings can extend this research gap. Theoretical and managerial implications are discussed as well as implications for public policy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Vietnam's economy and intellectual standards have witnessed significant development, improving conditions for residents to acquire novel mHealth applications. Additionally, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has influenced Vietnamese awareness of healthcare; however, previous studies have only been clinician-centered rather than customer-centered. METHODS This study addresses this literature gap by interviewing 50 Vietnamese participants grouped by age, namely Generation X, Generation Y, and Generation Z, and health conditions, namely whether participants or family members have chronic illness. The study utilized semi-structured and in-depth interviews to collect the data and used thematic analysis to analyze the data under the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology framework. RESULTS Most participants were willing to adopt this technology and demanded a convenient and user-friendly one-stop-shop solution, endorsements from credible and authoritative sources, and professional customer services. However, each group also had distinctive demands and behaviors. CONCLUSION This study contributes theoretically by providing context-rich demand for Vietnamese customers across three generations and healthcare conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic and comparing their behavior with pre-COVID literature. While this research provides helpful information for potential app developers, this study also suggests that mHealth developers and policymakers should pay more attention to the differences in the demand of age groups and health conditions.

To Wear or Not to Wear: Analysis of Individuals' Tendency to Wear Masks during the COVID-19 Pandemic in China. Abstract
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the percentage of Chinese people wearing masks was very high, as was the acceptance and initiative toward mask wearing. This national action merits our exploration of the psychological reasons as well as the general social and environmental factors behind this behavior. In this article, we integrated the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT 2) as well as Health Belief Model and set up a mask acceptance model. We used a questionnaire survey and received 337 valid questionnaires. The results indicate that social influence, perceived susceptibility to COVID-19, perceived hedonic benefit (appearance enhancement), and a perceived barrier (hindrance to communication) exert significant influences on the willingness to wear masks. Meanwhile, social influence plays an intermediary role between interdependent self-construal and intention to wear a mask. We hope to reveal the micro psychological reasons for the national action and reflect on the cultural characteristics of Chinese people in the special context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
