Abstract
Obesity, whose prevalence is increasing globally, is malnutrition that causes micro/macronutrients and vitamin deficiencies in adolescents. Vitamin B12 plays a prominent role in the body systems such as remethylation, deoxidation, and DNA synthesis. We aimed to examine the relationship between severe obese/obese adolescents and vitamin B12 levels in this study. This study was conducted as a case-control study consisting of 44 obese and 40 healthy control adolescents aged 11-17 years. Obesity was diagnosed using body mass index (BMI) charts defined by the World Health Organization according to age and gender. Vitamin B12 deficiency was found to be 34.1% in the patient obesity group, while it was 12.5% in the control group (p = 0.02). Homeostatic Model Assessment for Insulin Resistance levels were found to be 3.09 (1.9-5.29) higher in the severely obese group (p < 0.001). The median level of vitamin B12 in the obese group was 173 (122.5-220.7) in the severe obese group, 197 (146.5-302.7) in the obese group, and 252.5 (192.8-302) in the control group (p = 0.021). We found that obesity has a 1.6-fold decreasing effect on vitamin B12 levels. This study shows the clinician the importance of monitoring BMI and vitamin B12 levels in obese adolescents, given the effects of vitamin B12 on neuronal migration, metabolic reactions, and many systems in the body. Further researches are needed to investigate the pathophysiology and effect of low vitamin B12 levels in obese adolescents.

Abstract
The prevalence of obesity in children and adolescents has been gradually increasing in recent years and has become a major health problem. Childhood obesity can readily progress to adult obesity. It is associated with obesity-related comorbidities, such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, obstructive sleep apnea, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and the risk factor for cardiovascular disease. It is important to make an accurate assessment of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents with consideration of growth and development. Childhood obesity can then be prevented and treated using an appropriate treatment goal and safe and effective treatment strategies. This article summarizes the clinical practice guidelines for obesity in children and adolescents that are included in the 8th edition of the Clinical Practice Guidelines for Obesity of the Korean Society for the Study of Obesity.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW The purpose of this review and meta-analysis is to characterize the changes in body composition of children and adolescents who underwent bariatric surgery and identify possible negative effects of performing this procedure during pediatric ages. RECENT FINDINGS Bariatric surgery in children and adolescents is an emerging strategy to promote higher and faster body weight and fat mass losses. However, possible negative effects usually observed in surgical patients' muscle-skeletal system raise a major concern perform this intervention during growth. Despite these possible issues, most experimental studies and reviews analyze bariatric surgery's effectiveness only by assessing anthropometric outcomes such as body weight and BMI, disregarding the short- and long-term impact of bariatric surgery on all body composition outcomes. Bariatric surgery is effective to reduce fat mass in adolescents, as well as body weight, waist circumference, and BMI. Significant reduction in lean mass and fat-free mass is also observed. Bone mass seems not to be impaired. All outcomes reduction were observed only in the first 12 months after surgery. Sensitivity analysis suggests possible sex and type of surgery-related differences, favoring a higher fat mass, body weight, and BMI losses in boys and in patients who underwent RYGB.

Abstract
Background The COVID-19 pandemic changed the daily lives and limited everyday activities of children worldwide. Objectives To document the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on children's occupations, the associated factors, and the impact on children's health, wellbeing, and development. Methods A narrative review was conducted by searching four databases (Scopus, MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews). Results A total of 35 articles met the inclusion criteria. Out of the 34 articles, 23 were relevant to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on occupations related to leisure (n = 17), productivity (n = 11), and self-care (n = 9). Ten articles highlighted specific factors that had been linked to changes in occupational engagement and child behavior. Ten articles focused on the impact of occupational disruption during COVID-19 on health, wellbeing, and general development. Conclusion The COVID-19 pandemic seems to have had a negative impact on children's occupations, while the restrictions were still in effect. Further research is needed to establish reliable conclusions.

Abstract
The coronavirus disease-19 pandemic has adversely affected children's health since its inception. Apart from the mortality and morbidity due to infection, child health monitoring, vaccination, and nutrition programs, especially in newborns and young children, have been disrupted. Measures such as school closures and curfews to prevent the spread of infection brought along many physical and mental health problems by causing disruption of education, social isolation, and closure of children at home. The possible long-term effects of the delayed implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Health have also deeply affected children, who are the most vulnerable victims of the coronavirus disease-19 pandemic.

Abstract
Population-level surveillance of student weight status (particularly monitoring students with a body mass index (BMI) ≥95th percentile) remains of public health interest. However, there is mounting concern about objectively measuring student BMI in schools. Using data from the nation's largest school district, we determined how closely students' self-reported BMI approximates objectively-measured BMI, aggregated at the school level, to inform decision-making related to school BMI measurement practices. Using non-matched data from n = 82,543 students with objective height/weight data and n = 7676 with self-reported height/weight from 84 New York City high schools (88% non-white and 75% free or reduced-price meal-eligible enrollment), we compared school-level mean differences in height, weight, BMI, and proportion of students by weight status, between objective and self-reported measures. At the school-level, the self-reported measurement significantly underestimated weight (-1.38 kg; 95% CI: -1.999, -0.758) and BMI (-0.38 kg/m2; 95% CI: -0.574, -0.183) compared to the objective measurement. Based on the objective measurement, 12.1% of students were classified as having obesity and 6.3% as having severe obesity (per CDC definition); the self-report data yielded 2.5 (95% CI: -1.964, -0.174) and 1.4 (95% CI: -2.176, -0.595) percentage point underestimates in students with obesity and severe obesity, respectively. This translates to 13% of students with obesity and 21% of students with severe obesity being misclassified if using self-reported BMI. School-level high school students' self-reported data underestimate the prevalence of students with obesity and severe obesity and is particularly poor at identifying highest-risk students based on BMI percentile.

Abstract
Fussy eaters may have an increased risk of becoming overweight or obese as adolescents, with fussy eating and weight status also correlating with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDs) such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Further, maternal and children's weight status relationships are well-established. In this study, we analyzed the body composition of parent-child dyads using bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). Fifty-one children aged 8-12 years, with an ND (n = 18) and without (n = 33), and their parents, participated in a 7-week food-based Taste Education intervention with 6-month follow-up. The paired t-test was used to compare differences in body composition based on children's ND status. In logistic regression analysis, odds of children being in the overweight/obese or overfat/obese categories increased by a factor of 9.1 and 10.6, respectively, when having NDs, adjusting for parents' BMI (body mass index) or fat percentage (FAT%). Children with NDs and their parents had significantly higher mean BMI-SDS (BMI standard deviation score) and FAT% at pre-intervention than children without NDs and their parents. Mean BMI-SDS and FAT% lowered significantly between time points for children with NDs and their parents but not for children without NDs or their parents. The findings underline the need for additional exploration into the relationships between children's and parents' body composition based on children's ND status.

Abstract
This Position Statement updates the different components of the therapy of obesity (lifestyle intervention, drugs, and surgery) in children and adolescents, previously reported in the consensus position statement on pediatric obesity of the Italian Society of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology and the Italian Society of Pediatrics. Lifestyle intervention is the first step of treatment. In children older than 12 years, pharmacotherapy is the second step, and bariatric surgery is the third one, in selected cases. Novelties are available in the field of the medical treatment of obesity. In particular, new drugs demonstrated their efficacy and safety and have been approved in adolescents. Moreover, several randomized control trials with other drugs are in process and it is likely that some of them will become available in the future. The increase of the portfolio of treatment options for obesity in children and adolescents is promising for a more effective treatment of this disorder.

Abstract
Recently, the concept of Physical Literacy (PL) has emerged as a key concept for promoting active behavior and improving health indicators in adolescents. Overweight and obese adolescents have a low level of Physical Activity (PA), low cardiorespiratory capacity, and high Body Fat percentage (%BF). However, the development of PL in the interest of health improvement has never been studied in overweight and obese adolescents. The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of an intervention developing PL in overweight and obese adolescents in order to increase their (PA) and improve their health. The study was a prospective, single-arm, non-randomized interventional study. The intervention brings together different actions in PA and dietary education in different adolescent living environments. The study took place over a 9-month period with two data collection times (0; +9 months) and measured Body Mass Index (BMI) and BMI z score, %BF and Skeletal Muscle Mass (%SMM), Moderate-to-Vigorous intensity Physical Activity (MVPA) by accelerometry, CRF, as well as PL by the CAPL-2 tool. Thirteen adolescents (age 11.7 (±1.09) years old) improved their PL scores (+8.3 (±9.3) pts; p ≤ 0.01). BMI z score (-0.3 (±0.3), p ≤ 0.01), their %BF (-3.8 (±4.9); p ≤ 0.01), their CRF (+1.5 (±1.7) mL·min·kg-1; p ≤ 0.01), and their MVPA (+4.6 (±13.7) min/day; p = 0.36). Initiating multidimensional interventions to develop PL in overweight and obese adolescents may be a promising prospect to enable an increase in their MVPA and improve their long-term health. Longer-term randomized controlled interventional studies are needed to confirm these findings.

Abstract
Childhood obesity is a public health problem worldwide. An important determinant of child and adolescent obesity is socioeconomic status (SES). However, the magnitude of the impact of different SES indicators on pediatric obesity on the Spanish population scale is unclear. The aim of this study was to assess the association between three SES indicators and obesity in a nationwide, representative sample of Spanish children and adolescents. A total of 2791 boys and girls aged 8 to 16 years old were included. Their weight, height, and waist circumference were measured. SES was assessed using two parent/legal guardian self-reported indicators (educational level -University/non-University- and labor market status -Employed/Unemployed-). As a third SES indicator, the annual mean income per person was obtained from the census section where the participating schools were located (≥12.731€/<12.731€). The prevalence of obesity, severe obesity, and abdominal obesity was 11.5%, 1.4%, and 22.3%, respectively. Logistic regression models showed an inverse association of both education and labor market status with obesity, severe obesity, and abdominal obesity (all p < 0.001). Income was also inversely associated with obesity (p < 0.01) and abdominal obesity (p < 0.001). Finally, the highest composite SES category (University/Employed/≥12.731€ n = 517) showed a robust and inverse association with obesity (OR = 0.28; 95% CI: 0.16-0.48), severe obesity (OR = 0.20; 95% CI: 0.05-0.81), and abdominal obesity (OR = 0.36; 95% CI: 0.23-0.54) in comparison with the lowest composite SES category (Less than University/Unemployed/<12.731€; n = 164). No significant interaction between composite SES categories and age and gender was found. SES is strongly associated with pediatric obesity in Spain.

Abstract
The goal of the 8th edition of the Clinical Practice Guidelines for Obesity is to help primary care physician provide safe, effective care to patients with obesity by offering evidence-based recommendations to improve the quality of treatment. The Committee for Clinical Practice Guidelines comprised individuals with multidisciplinary expertise in obesity management. A steering board of seven experts oversaw the entire project. Recommendations were developed as the answers to key questions formulated in patient/problem, intervention, comparison, outcomes (PICO) format. Guidelines underwent multi-level review and cross-checking and received endorsement from relevant scientific societies. This edition of the guidelines includes criteria for diagnosing obesity, abdominal obesity, and metabolic syndrome; evaluation of obesity and its complications; weight loss goals; and treatment options such as diet, exercise, behavioral therapy, pharmacotherapy, and bariatric and metabolic surgery for Korean people with obesity. Compared to the previous edition of the guidelines, the current edition includes five new topics to keep up with the constantly evolving field of obesity: diagnosis of obesity, obesity in women, obesity in patients with mental illness, weight maintenance after weight loss, and the use of information and communication technology-based interventions for obesity treatment. This edition of the guidelines features has improved organization, more clearly linking key questions in PICO format to recommendations and key references. We are confident that these new Clinical Practice Guidelines for Obesity will be a valuable resource for all healthcare professionals as they describe the most current and evidence-based treatment options for obesity in a well-organized format.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Childhood obesity is a complex disease resulting from the interaction of multiple factors. The effective management of childhood obesity requires assessing the psychosocial and lifestyle factors that may play a role in the development and maintenance of obesity. This study centers on available scientific literature on psychosocial and lifestyle assessments for childhood obesity, and experiences and views of healthcare professionals with regard to assessing psychosocial and lifestyle factors within Dutch integrated care. METHODS Two methods were used. First, a scoping review (in PubMed, Embase, PsycInfo, IBSS, Scopus and Web of Science) was performed by systematically searching for scientific literature on psychosocial and lifestyle assessments for childhood obesity. Data were analysed by extracting data in Microsoft Excel. Second, focus group discussions were held with healthcare professionals from a variety of disciplines and domains to explore their experiences and views about assessing psychosocial and lifestyle factors within Dutch integrated care. Data were analysed using template analysis, complemented with open coding in MAXQDA. RESULTS The results provide an overview of relevant psychosocial and lifestyle factors that should be assessed and were classified as child, family, parental and lifestyle (e.g. nutrition, physical activity and sleep factors) and structured into psychological and social aspects. Insights into how to assess psychosocial and lifestyle factors were identified as well, including talking about psychosocial factors, lifestyle and weight; the professional-patient relationship; and attitudes of healthcare professionals. CONCLUSIONS This study provides an overview of psychosocial and lifestyle factors that should be identified within the context of childhood obesity care, as they may contribute to the development and maintenance of obesity. The results highlight the importance of both what is assessed and how it is assessed. The results of this study can be used to develop practical tools for facilitating healthcare professionals in conducting a psychosocial and lifestyle assessment.

Abstract
Obesity is associated with various dysfunctions of the organism, including musculoskeletal problems. In this narrative review, we aim to consider postural problems in children and adolescents with obesity, focusing on the relationship with its negative impact on physical activity, and to discuss the role of exercise as a therapeutic approach. The body reacts to excess weight by changing its normal balance, and the somatosensory system of children with obesity is forced to make major adjustments to compensate for postural problems. These adaptations become more difficult and tiring if activities that require continuous postural changes and multi-tasking are engaged in. Children with obesity have less body control and functional ability due to the excess fat mass, which reduces their ability to perform motor skills and take part in physical activity. Appropriate early interventions for the management of musculoskeletal problems are needed to ensure healthy growth and to prevent comorbidities in childhood and adulthood. Prevention programs must be based not only on the reduction of body weight but also on the definition of correct postural habits from an early age. It is equally important to provide correct information on the types and doses of physical activity that can help prevent these problems.

Abstract
The care of youth managed within pediatric endocrine clinics is complex and requires a multi- or interdisciplinary approach. Psychosocial aspects of chronic health conditions are well-documented. Clinical practice guidelines outline the importance of routine psychosocial screening and support for youth with diabetes and obesity. This article outlines the diverse role of psychologists in pediatric endocrinology, including screening, in-clinic intervention, outpatient psychological services, and inpatient consultation. Although research exists documenting the effectiveness of behavioral interventions to improve adherence and health-related quality of life, cost analysis research is emerging.

Abstract
Obesity remains one of the biggest health problems both in adults and children. Lifestyle modification, including diet and exercise, continues to be the mainstay of obesity prevention and treatment. Unfortunately, lifestyle modifications are often unsuccessful. Pharmacological treatment of obesity in pediatric patients can be applied in selected cases, and not before evidence of failure of the multidisciplinary lifestyle intervention. In this narrative review, we revised the most up-to-date evidence on medical treatment of weight loss in children and adolescents with obesity, including FDA- or EMA-approved and -experimented, not approved, drugs for pediatric population. Multidisciplinary treatment of childhood obesity, regulation of appetite control, energy balance and body weight were also discussed, in order to clarify the indications and mechanism action of drugs. Despite a substantial number of medications used for the treatment of obesity in adults, a limited number of drugs are approved by the drug regulatory agencies for pediatric population. Further research is needed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of novel pharmacological approaches for treatment of pediatric obesity in order to optimize weight management for children and adolescents and limit the development obesity-related comorbidities.

Abstract
(1) Background: Perfectionism has been linked to eating disorders and might be a risk factor for the appearance of eating pathologies. The aims of this study are (a) to verify the relationship between perfectionism, emotional eating (EE), binge eating (BE), and body mass index (BMI); (b) to identify the variables that predict BE symptoms and BMI; (c) to study the role of perfectionism as a mediator between EE and BMI. (2) Methods: 312 adult participants answered a cross-sectional survey that included the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale, the Emotional Eater Questionnaire (EEQ), the Binge Eating Scale (BES), and a sociodemographic questionnaire including BMI. (3) Results: The results suggest a direct correlation between EE, BE, and BMI, showing that EE is a powerful predictor of BE symptoms and BMI. Furthermore, two dimensions of perfectionism have a mediator role between EE and BMI, specifically doubts and actions and concern over mistakes: the presence of these two components of perfectionism reverses the relationship between EE and BMI. (4) Conclusions: These results have significant implications for the understanding of the two different (pathological) eating patterns: intake restriction and overeating and should be considered in intervention programs.

Abstract
Few data are currently available on the reliability of the different anthropometric, instrumental and biochemical indexes in recognizing the presence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in children and adolescents with severe obesity. Therefore, the objective of our study was to find out the simplest and most accurate predictive index of MetS in this population at-risk. In 1065 children and adolescents (563 f, 502 m), aged 14.6 ± 2.1 years (range 10–17), with severe obesity [BMI-SDS 3.50 ± 0.36 (range 3.00–5.17)], the following indexes were evaluated: BMI, BMI-SDS, Tri-Ponderal Mass Index, Waist-to-Height ratio, TG/HDL-Cholesterol ratio, Cardiometabolic Index (CMI), and Visceral Adiposity Index (VAI). For each subject, all the components of MetS, defined according to the IDF criteria, were determined. Overall, the presence of MetS was found in 324 patients (30.4%), 167 males (33.3%) and 157 females (27.9%). According to the ROC analysis, three indexes (VAI, CMI and TG/HDL-Cholesterol ratio), performed significantly better than the other ones in identifying MetS, with no difference among them. In conclusion, the TG/HDL ratio, which just needs the evaluation of two simple biochemical parameters, offers the same accuracy as other more sophisticated indexes in recognizing MetS in children and adolescents with severe obesity, thus making it the best predictor to be easily used.

Abstract
Introduction COVID-19 is currently a global pandemic, and initial reports of identified COVID-19 lockdown and limitations can adversely affect childhood obesity and metabolic health. Studies conducted in recent years have shown that the rate of obesity in childhood increases with the changing lifestyle with the pandemic. However, there is insufficient data on how the situation changes and how metabolism is affected in those, who are already obese. The aim of this paper was to determine how the pandemic affects the current status, severity, and metabolic parameters of obese children. We also attempted to show potential effects of metformin therapy. Methods The study was conducted with the participation of 101 patients with obesity (The mean age was 13.6 ± 2.2). The patients were evaluated using pre- and post-lockdown data with an interval of 6 months. The new classification system was used to determine the severity of obesity. All anthropometrics, metabolic parameters (Blood glucose, insulin, HbA1C, lipid profile), lifestyle, and comorbidities were evaluated by dividing the participants into various subgroups according to their obesity and metformin usage status. Results Our data shows that weight, height, BMI, BMI-SD, and BMI percentiles all increased significantly, after the pandemic started. The severity of obesity increased statistically (overweight decreases and class 2 obesity increases, p = 0.001). No change was observed in metabolic parameters. Surprisingly, a significant increase was observed in insulin and HOMA-IR values in the group with-metformin. Discussion Most studies about childhood obesity have only focused on obesity increases and pandemic relation. Our study showed that although there was no significant change in metabolic status at the end of a lockdown period, there was a serious increase in the severity of obesity. Metformin use had no effect on either obesity or metabolic parameters, and even an increase in insulin resistance indicators was observed.

Abstract
Some studies have shown that the area under the concentration-time curve (AUC) of mycophenolic acid (MPA) should be higher for children with nephrotic syndrome (NS) than after renal transplantation. The pharmacodynamic aspect of MPA, the activity of inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH), has not been studied in children with NS. The study included 21 children (4-16 years) with NS treated with mycophenolate mofetil. MPA and its glucuronide plasma concentrations were determined using validated high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC-UV). The separate HPLC-UV method was applied for IMPDH activity determination. The variability was expressed by the coefficient of variation (CV). IMPDH activity and MPA concentration (Ctrough ) before the morning dose amounted to 29.95 μmol·s-1 ·mol-1 AMP (range, 6.71-98.60 μmol·s-1 ·mol-1 AMP) and 1.72 μg/mL (range, 0.39-4.34 μg/mL), respectively, whereas the area under the effect-time curve from 0 to 4 h and MPA AUC0-4 were 130.36 μmol·s-1 ·mol-1 AMP∙h (range, 23.58-306.57 μmol·s-1 ·mol-1 AMP∙h) and 24.63 μg·h/mL (range, 12.21-67.48 μg·h/mL), respectively. IMPDH activity decreased concomitantly with MPA concentration increase, however, the variability of the pharmacodynamic parameters was greater than of the pharmacokinetics. The median degree of maximum IMPDH inhibition was 61%. MPA Ctrough and predicted AUC were lower than in our previous study. Only a few MPA pharmacokinetic parameters correlated with the pharmacodynamics. IMPDH activity did not correlate with children's age and did not differ between boys and girls. MPA clearance was the highest in younger children (median 10.54 L/m2 /h) and cholesterol correlated negatively with children's age (r=-0.659, p=0.003). IMPDH minimum activity and the degree of maximum IMPDH inhibition were similar to those obtained in renal transplant recipients. IMPDH activity does not undergo developmental or gender-specific regulation in children with NS. MPA underexposure might be more frequent in younger children, especially with high cholesterol and triglycerides levels due to high MPA clearance.

Abstract
Background and Objectives: A third of the American adult population is currently pre-diabetic/morbidly obese and is, therefore, at an elevated risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Unfortunately, such a condition does not spare children from also developing morbid obesity, where incidence rates of childhood obesity—coupled with type 2 diabetes—are markedly elevated. Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is gradually becoming the novel benchmark in bariatric surgery for the treatment of morbid obesity and associated co-morbidities, also within pediatric cases. However, no comprehensive study has been conducted in children that emphasizes the effect of LSG on HbA1C levels within such a patient population suffering from type 2 diabetes. Aim: Since HbA1C is a major biomarker for type 2 diabetes progression, this study aimed to identify any dysregulated serum levels for this key molecular player (together with other parameters), for post-surgical monitoring of the beneficial metabolic effects of LSG surgery on type 2 diabetes amelioration/remission within pediatric patients. Materials and Methods: A total of 64 pediatric patients, ranging in age from 5 to 14 years old, were enrolled in this retrospective study. Multiple laboratory-based analyses datasets were also collected from individual study participants, including HbA1C and random blood sugar (RBS). All participating patients were designated for undergoing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, as per standardized surgical protocols and each participant was followed-up for two years post-surgery. Laboratory investigations were re-performed in order to identify any major variations in clinical parameters. Results: HbA1c was significantly reduced among children, from 6.0 ± 0.8 (pre-LSG) to 5.4 ± 0.4 post-surgery, with a reduction rate of 10.9% (p = 0.001). Furthermore, RBS significantly decreased from 102.9 ± 34.0 (pre-LSG) to 87.1 ± 17.3 post- surgery, with a reduction rate of 15.4% (p = 0.036). Conclusions: This study provides further concrete evidence for the beneficial metabolic influence provided by LSG surgery on morbidly obese, childhood-aged patient populations, with effectiveness in reducing co-morbidity progress, in the form of type 2 diabetes, through the reduction in HbA1c levels within such patients post-surgery.

Abstract
Background: Obesity is a complex disease, and its prevalence is gradually increasing globally. The increasing prevalence of obesity is shown to significantly affect the development of obesity-related comorbidities. This paper describes the recent updates on obesity treatment in Korea based on the 2020 Korean Society for the Study of Obesity guidelines for obesity management.Current Concepts: Accurate evaluation of obesity is important before treatment initiation. Obesity in Korean adults is defined as body mass index ≥25 kg/m2, and abdominal obesity is defined as waist circumference ≥90 cm for men and ≥85 cm for women. It is recommended that energy intake be reduced and that the degree of energy restriction be individualized based on patient characteristics and medical conditions. Guidelines recommend assessment of the exercise participation and health status before prescribing exercise therapy; aerobic exercise for at least 150 min/week or 3–5 times/week is advised to facilitate weight loss. Although nutrition and behavior therapy and increased physical activity constitute the mainstay of obesity treatment, pharmacotherapy is recommended concomitant with comprehensive lifestyle modification. Bariatric surgery should be actively considered in patients with severe obesity and in those with obesity-related comorbidities.Discussion and Conclusion: Obesity and the associated comorbidities result in an increased socioeconomic and medical burden. Multifactorial intervention using a team approach is warranted for optimal management of obesity. This guideline will benefit primary care physicians for safe and effective decision-making regarding obesity management and treatment.
