Abstract
Dermatologists regularly encounter skin-related manifestations tied to the menopause transition, from hair loss and acne to vaginal dryness and hyperhidrosis. Yet, despite the frequency and significance of these presentations, there remains a conspicuous gap when it comes to training in menopause care for dermatologists. This omission is highlighted by the absence of menopause-related content and guidance in dermatologic educational materials. This letter emphasizes the need for a holistic approach to menopause care in dermatology and suggests strategies to address the existing knowledge and practice gap.

Abstract
Severe obesity increases the risk for negative outcomes in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Our objectives were to investigate the effect of BMI on in-hospital outcomes in our New York City Health and Hospitals’ ethnically diverse population, further explore this effect by age, sex, race/ethnicity, and timing of admission, and, given the relationship between COVID-19 and hyperinflammation, assess the concentrations of markers of systemic inflammation in different BMI groups. A retrospective study was conducted in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 in the public health care system of New York City from 1 March 2020 to 31 October 2020. A total of 8833 patients were included in this analysis (women: 3593, median age: 62 years). The median body mass index (BMI) was 27.9 kg/m2. Both overweight and obesity were independently associated with in-hospital death. The association of overweight and obesity with death appeared to be stronger in men, younger patients, and individuals of Hispanic ethnicity. We did not observe higher concentrations of inflammatory markers in patients with obesity as compared to those without obesity. In conclusion, overweight and obesity were independently associated with in-hospital death. Obesity was not associated with higher concentrations of inflammatory markers.

Abstract
Treatment of a 48-year-old woman with advanced cervical cancer with the synthetic vitamin A derivative, 9-cis retinoic acid (9cRA), resulted in thyroid-stimulating hormone suppression without clinical evidence of thyrotoxicosis, which resolved spontaneously when the drug was withdrawn. 9cRA, which is a pan-retinoid (RAR and RXR) agonist, has previously been implicated in induction of interactions between the thyroid receptor and the retinoid receptor, RXR, with endocrine target organ specificity. Furthermore, 9cRA has been shown to down-regulate thyroid-stimulating hormone messenger RNA in a pituitary-specific fashion in a murine model, a finding consistent with the pituitary-restricted thyrotoxicosis observed in our patient. This is the first reported case of thyroid-stimulating hormone suppression by 9cRA and suggests that patients receiving this agent should be monitored for pituitary and thyroid function abnormalities.
