Abstract
Objective: To understand the current status of anemia, iron deficiency, and iron-deficiency anemia among preschool children in China. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with a multi-stage stratified sampling method to select 150 streets or townships from 10 Chinese provinces, autonomous regions, or municipalities (East: Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, and Hainan; Central: Henan; West: Chongqing, Shaanxi, Guizhou, and Xinjiang; Northeast: Liaoning). From May 2022 to April 2023, a total of 21 470 children, including community-based children aged 0.5 to<3.0 years receiving child health care and kindergarten-based children aged 3.0 to<7.0 years, were surveyed. They were divided into 3 age groups: infants (0.5 to<1.0 year), toddlers (1.0 to<3.0 years), and preschoolers (3.0 to<7.0 years). Basic information such as sex and date of birth of the children was collected, and peripheral blood samples were obtained for routine blood tests and serum ferritin measurement. The prevalence rates of anemia, iron deficiency, and iron-deficiency anemia were analyzed, and the prevalence rate differences were compared among different ages, sex, urban and rural areas, and regions using the chi-square test. Results: A total of 21 460 valid responses were collected, including 10 780 boys (50.2%). The number of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers were 2 645 (12.3%), 6 244 (29.1%), and 12 571 (58.6%), respectively. The hemoglobin level was (126.7±14.8) g/L, and the serum ferritin level was 32.3 (18.5, 50.1) μg/L. The overall rates of anemia, iron deficiency, and iron-deficiency anemia were 10.4% (2 230/21 460), 28.3% (6 070/21 460), and 3.9% (845/21 460), respectively. The prevalence rate of anemia was higher for boys than for girls (10.9% (1 173/10 780) vs. 9.9% (1 057/10 680), χ2=5.58, P=0.018), with statistically significant differences in the rates for infants, toddlers and preschoolers (18.0% (475/2 645), 10.6% (662/6 244), and 8.7% (1 093/12 571), respectively, χ2=201.81, P<0.01), and the rate was significantly higher for children in rural than that in urban area (11.8% (1 516/12 883) vs. 8.3% (714/8 577), χ2=65.54, P<0.01), with statistically significant differences in the rates by region (χ2=126.60, P<0.01), with the highest rate of 15.8% (343/2 173) for children in Central region, and the lowest rate of 5.3% (108/2 053) in Northeastern region. The prevalence rates of iron deficiency were 33.8% (895/2 645), 32.2% (2 011/6 244), and 25.2% (3 164/12 571) in infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, respectively, and 30.0% (3 229/10 780) in boys vs. 26.6% (2 841/10 680) in girls, 21.7% (1 913/8 821), 40.0% (870/2 173), 27.1% (2 283/8 413), 48.9% (1 004/2 053) in Eastern, Central, Western, and Northeastern regions, respectively, and each between-group showed a significant statistical difference (χ2=147.71, 29.73, 773.02, all P<0.01). The prevalence rate of iron-deficiency anemia showed a significant statistical difference between urban and rural areas, 2.9% (251/8 577) vs. 4.6% (594/12 883) (χ2=38.62, P<0.01), while the difference in iron deficiency prevalence was not significant (χ2=0.51, P=0.476). Conclusions: There has been a notable improvement in iron deficiency and iron-deficiency anemia among preschool children in China, but the situation remains concerning. Particular attention should be paid to the prevention and control of iron deficiency and iron-deficiency anemia, especially among infants and children in the Central, Western, and Northeastern regions of China.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Fibrin(ogen) deposition in the central nervous system (CNS) contributes to neuropathological injury; however, its role in ischemic stroke is unknown. In this study, we identified fibrinogen as a novel proinflammatory regulator of post-stroke neuroinflammation and revealed the neuro-protection effect of fibrin-derived γ377-395peptide in stroke. METHODS Fibrinogen depletion and fibrinogen-derived γ377-395peptide treatment were performed 2 h after establishing a permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion (pMCAO) model. The infarction volume, neurological score, fibrin(ogen) deposition, and inflammatory response were evaluated 24 h after occlusion. Both in vivo and in vitro studies were conducted to assess the therapeutic potential of the γ377-395peptide in blocking the interactions between fibrin(ogen) and neutrophils. RESULTS Fibrin(ogen) deposited in the infarct core promoted post-stroke inflammation and exacerbated neurological deficits in the acute phase after stroke onset. Reducing fibrinogen deposition resulted in a decrease in infarction volume, improved neurological scores, and reduced inflammation in the brain. Additionally, the presence of neutrophil accumulation near fibrin(ogen) deposits was observed in ischemic lesions, and the engagement of fibrin(ogen) by integrin receptor αMβ2 promoted neutrophil activation and post-stroke inflammation. Finally, inhibiting fibrin(ogen)-mediated neutrophil activation using a fibrinogen-derived γ377-395peptide significantly attenuated neurological deficits. CONCLUSIONS Fibrin(ogen) is a crucial regulator of post-stroke inflammation and contributes to secondary brain injury. The inflammation induced by fibrin(ogen) is primarily driven by neutrophils during acute ischemic stroke and can be ameliorated using the fibrin-derived γ377-395peptide. Targeting the fibrin(ogen)-mediated neuropathological process represents a promising approach for neuroprotective therapy after stroke while preserving its beneficial coagulation function.

Abstract
Translation elongation factor P, expressed by the efp gene, is a conserved protein closely related to bacterial virulence and environmental stress regulation responses, however, little is known about the efp gene expression regulations. Here, the strain of Staphylococcus aureus subsp. aureus NCTC 8325 was taken as the research object and cultured under different conditions, including different culture temperatures, pH, and antibiotics, to study the expression of the efp gene in S. aureus by qRT-PCR, the results showed that the expression of the efp gene is upregulated under high temperature (40 °C), acidic (pH 5.4) or alkaline (pH 9.4) culture conditions, but upregulated early and downregulated later under the conditions of 0.5 MIC antibiotics (chloramphenicol at the final concentration of 2 μg/mL and vancomycin at the final concentration of 0.25 μg/mL), indicating that the efp promoter in S. aureus is inducible. The efp promoter sequence and structure in S. aureus were predicted by bioinformatics methods, and the predicted promoter was validated by constructing a promoter-probe vector and a series of promoter mutants, the results showed that the efp promoter sequence in S. aureus, named Pro, located in 1,548,179-1,548,250 of the S. aureus genome (NC_007795.1), and the sequence of - 10 element is CCTTATAGT, - 35 element is TTTACT. The results above could lay a foundation for screening transcription factors involved in the expression of the efp gene and then exploring the transcriptional regulation mechanism of EF-P in S. aureus.

Abstract
Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is an autoimmune demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. However, few biomarkers have been found to predict the outcome of immunotherapy. We investigated the relationship between the serum albumin (S-Alb) and response to immunotherapy in acute NMOSD patients. Methods A total of 107 consecutive Chinese patients with acute NMOSD diagnosed between January 2013 and January 2022 were included in our prospective observational study. S-Alb was measured by the use of bromocresol green and immunoturbidimetric methods on admission. The immunotherapy response was assessed by the percentage change in the expanded disability status scale (EDSS) score from admission to discharge after treatment. We evaluated the association between S-Alb and immunotherapy response through multivariate logistic regression analysis. Results S-Alb levels were significantly lower in patients who were resistant to immunotherapy than in those who were responsive to treatment (p<0.001). S-Alb levels were positively related to a favorable response to immunotherapy (r=0.386, p<0.001). The odds ratio (95% CI) for the association between S-Alb level and response to immunotherapy was 1.27 (95% CI=1.08, 1.50; p=0.004) after adjusting for potential factors. ROC analysis showed that patients with S-Alb levels lower than 40.85 g/L were likely to be resistant to immunotherapy. Conclusion Our study indicated that a higher S-Alb was an independent indicator of response to immunotherapy in acute NMOSD patients.

Abstract
The growing recognition of a dichotomous role of astrocytes in neurodegenerative processes has heightened the need for unraveling distinct astrocytic subtypes in neurological disorders. In multiple system atrophy (MSA), a rare, rapidly progressing atypical Parkinsonian disease characterized by increased astrocyte reactivity. However the specific contribution of astrocyte subtypes to neuropathology remains elusive. Hence, we first set out to profile glial fibrillary acidic protein levels in astrocytes across the human post mortem motor cortex, putamen, and substantia nigra of MSA patients and observed an overall profound astrocytic response. Matching the post mortem human findings, a similar astrocytic phenotype was present in a transgenic MSA mouse model. Notably, MSA mice exhibited a decreased expression of the glutamate transporter 1 and glutamate aspartate transporter in the basal ganglia, but not the motor cortex. We developed an optimized astrocyte isolation protocol based on magnetic-activated cell sorting via ATPase Na+/K+ transporting subunit beta 2 and profiled the transcriptomic landscape of striatal and cortical astrocytes in transgenic MSA mice. The gene expression profile of astrocytes in the motor cortex displayed an anti-inflammatory signature with increased oligodendroglial and pro-myelinogenic expression pattern. In contrast, striatal astrocytes were defined by elevated pro-inflammatory transcripts accompanied by dysregulated genes involved in homeostatic functions for lipid and calcium metabolism. These findings provide new insights into a region-dependent, dichotomous astrocytic response-potentially beneficial in the cortex and harmful in the striatum-in MSA suggesting a differential role of astrocytes in MSA-related neurodegenerative processes.

Abstract
BACKGROUNDS Thrombosis of dural sinuses and/or cerebral veins (CVT) is an uncommon form of cerebrovascular disease. Malnutrition is common in patients with cerebrovascular disease, and early assessment of malnutrition and individualized nutritional treatment have been reported to improve functional outcomes of these patients. As for CVT patients, little is known about whether these patients would suffer from malnutrition. Also, the correlation between malnutrition and cerebral intraparenchymal damage (CID) in CVT patients was rarely studied. METHODS Patients with CVT were retrospectively included in this observational study. Multivariate logistic regressions were used to investigate the effects of nutritional indexes on the risk of CID. Subsequently, we used the independent risk factors to construct the nomogram model, and the consistency index (C-index), calibration curve and decision curve analysis (DCA) to assess the reliability and applicability of the model. RESULTS A total of 165 patients were included in the final analysis. Approximately 72.7% of CVT patients were regarded as malnourished by our malnutrition screening tools, and malnutrition is associated with an increased risk of CID. Prognostic Nutritional Index (PNI) (OR = 0.873; CI: 0.791, 0.963, p = 0.007) remained as an independent predictor for CID after adjustment for other risk factors. The nomogram model showed that PNI and gender have a great contribution to prediction. Besides, the nomogram model was consistent with the actual observations of CID risk (C-index = 0.65) and was of clinical significance. CONCLUSIONS We reported that malnutrition, as indicated by PNI, was associated with a higher incidence of CID in CVT patients. Also, we have constructed a nomogram for predicting the risk of CID in these patients.

Abstract
The optimal management of trapeziometacarpal (TMC) osteoarthritis remains controversial. This meta-analysis assessed the subjective and objective outcomes of trapeziometacarpal arthrodesis (TMA) versus trapeziec-tomy with ligament reconstruction (LRTI). The PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, Web of science data-bases were searched from inception to June 30, 2022. Keywords included "trapeziometacarpal osteoarthrosis", "trapeziometacarpal arthrodesis" and "trapeziectomy with ligament reconstruction". Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and controlled clinical trials (CCTs) including patients treated for TMC osteoarthritis were included. The subjective outcomes visual analogue scale (VAS) , Patient-Rated Wrist and Hand Evaluation (PRWHE), Disabilities of arm, shoulder and hand (DASH) scores, Kapanji scores, objective outcomes total interphalangeal (IP) and metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint motion, palmar abduction, grip strength, tip, key pinch strength and complications were extracted. The methodological quality of each was assessed in- dependently. Meta-analysis was performed for comparative trials. From the 5 included studies (2 RCTs, 3 CCTs), 208 cases were divided into TMA group (n = 107) and LRTI group (n =101) groups. Compared with the TMA group, PRWHE, tip pinch strength and palmar abduction was better in the LRTI group. There was no statistical difference in DASH score, VAS, kapandji score, grip strength, key pinch strength, total IP joint motion, total MCP joint motion and complications. The LRTI group had more obvious advantages in term of PRWHE, tip pinch strength and palmar abduction. Moreover, there was no statistical difference in DASH score, VAS, kapandji score, grip strength, key pinch strength, total IP joint and total MCP joint motion and complications. Therefore, we concluded LRTI was more recommendable for more management of TMC osteoarthritis. Certainly, high-quality studies are required in long-term follow-up.

Abstract
Automatic detection of major depressive disorder (MDD) with multiple-channel electroencephalography (EEG) signals is of great significance for treatment of the mental diseases. In a U-net network, clear EEG signals are fed to obtain temporal feature tensor through encoder and decoder networks with several convolution operations. Moreover, the clear EEG signals can be converted into multi-scale spectrogram to obtain the rich saliency information and then the spectrogram feature tensor can be extracted by another symmetrical U-net. The temporal and spectrogram feature tensors can provide more comprehensive information, but may also contain redundant information, which may affect the detection of MDD. To deal with such issue, this paper proposed a novel Temporal Spectrogram Unet (TSUnet-CC), which embeds the cross channel-wise attention mechanism for multiple-channel EEGbased MDD identification. We make three novel contributions: 1) multi-scale saliency-encoded spectrogram using Fourierbased approach to capture rich saliency information under different scales, 2) TSUnet network using a symmetrical twostream U-net architecture that learns multiple temporal and spectrogram feature tensors in time and frequency domains, and 3) cross channel-wise block enabling the larger weights of key feature channels that contain MDD information. The leaveone-subject-out experiments show that our proposed TSUnetCC gains high performance with a classification accuracy up to 98.55% and 99.22% in eyes closed and eyes open datasets, which outperformed some state-of-the-art methods and revealed its clinical potential.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical and pathological features of primary gastric (gastrointestinal)-type mucoglandular lesions of the endometrium. Methods: Eight cases of primary gastric (gastrointestinal)-type mucoglandular lesions of endometrium diagnosed between 2014 to 2022 were retrieved from pathology archives of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, Shanghai, China. The clinical history, pathological sections and follow-ups were analyzed. Results: The eight patients ranged in age from 35 to 67 years, with an average age of 55.5 years. Seven patients were examined for high-risk human papillary virus (HPV) before operation. Only one of them was positive for high-risk HPV52. No cervical mucinous lesions were found in any of the patients. Two cases were invasive gastric (gastrointestinal)-type adenocarcinoma, 2 cases were benign gastric (gastrointestinal)-type mucinous metaplasia, and the other 4 cases were atypical gastric (gastrointestinal)-type mucinous gland hyperplasia. Microscopically, tumor cells showed mucous epithelium with gastrointestinal differentiation. Immunophenotyping showed that MUC6 was diffusely or focally positive in 5 cases, CK20 and CDX2 were positive in 3 cases. And p16 was negative or focally positive in 5 cases and strongly positive in 1 case. ER was expressed in both benign and atypical lesions, and weakly positive or negative in the invasive adenocarcinoma. p53 showed mutant expression in one case and wild-type expression in the rest. HPV in situ hybridization was negative. Conclusions: Primary gastric (gastrointestinal)-type mucoglandular lesions of the endometrium show various forms of gastrointestinal differentiation, which are high-risk HPV independent. Morphology combined with immunohistochemistry is helpful for the diagnosis, which can only be made on exclusion of cervical gastrointestinal glandular lesion, gastrointestinal metastatic carcinoma and the mucinous subtype of endometrioid carcinoma.

Abstract
Mechanisms underlying arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are poorly understood. Using mice with endothelial cell (EC) expression of constitutively active Notch4 (Notch4*EC), we show decreased arteriolar tone in vivo during brain AVM initiation. Reduced vascular tone is a primary effect of Notch4*EC, as isolated pial arteries from asymptomatic mice exhibited reduced pressure-induced arterial tone ex vivo. The nitric oxide (NO) synthase (NOS) inhibitor NG-nitro-l-arginine (L-NNA) corrected vascular tone defects in both assays. L-NNA treatment or endothelial NOS (eNOS) gene deletion, either globally or specifically in ECs, attenuated AVM initiation, assessed by decreased AVM diameter and delayed time to moribund. Administering nitroxide antioxidant 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl also attenuated AVM initiation. Increased NOS-dependent production of hydrogen peroxide, but not NO, superoxide, or peroxynitrite was detected in isolated Notch4*EC brain vessels during AVM initiation. Our data suggest that eNOS is involved in Notch4*EC-mediated AVM formation by up-regulating hydrogen peroxide and reducing vascular tone, thereby permitting AVM initiation and progression.

Abstract
Microglia constantly survey the central nervous system microenvironment and maintain brain homeostasis. Microglia activation, polarization and inflammatory response are of great importance in the pathophysiology of ischemic stroke. For exploring biochemical processes in vivo, positron emission tomography (PET) is a superior imaging tool. Translocator protein 18 kDa (TSPO), is a validated neuroinflammatory biomarker which is widely used to evaluate various central nervous system (CNS) pathologies in both preclinical and clinical studies. TSPO level can be elevated due to peripheral inflammatory cells infiltration and glial cells activation. Therefore, a clear understanding of the dynamic changes between microglia and TSPO is critical for interpreting PET studies and understanding the pathophysiology after ischemic stroke. Our review discusses alternative biological targets that have attracted considerable interest for the imaging of microglia activation in recent years, and the potential value of imaging of microglia in the assessment of stroke therapies.

Abstract
The gastrointestinal tract is the main target of cadmium toxicity. However, whether Akkermansia muciniphila (A. muciniphila), which has been reported to be the next generation of promising probiotics, can alleviate cadmium-induced intestinal damage has not been investigated. In this study, we found that compared to the cadmium exposure group, mice gavaged with A. muciniphila showed less severe intestinal mucosal damage, with improved bodyweight, colon length, a decline in inflammation, and significantly increased glutathione and goblet cell numbers. Meanwhile, melatonin was interestingly found to be strikingly increased after A. muciniphila treatment. We then demonstrated that melatonin also could ameliorate the intestinal mucosal damage caused by cadmium through scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) and increasing the number of goblet cells. Furthermore, mice treated with inhibitors had a low level of melatonin and could not reproduce the beneficial effects of the A. muciniphila. Our results implied that the regulation of melatonin production by A. muciniphila is associated with an increase in enterochromaffin cells number, which determine melatonin secretion. This study indicated that the A. muciniphila-melatonin axis reduces cadmium-induced damage by increasing the goblet cells and scavenging the ROS, which may guide the prevention of the toxic effects of heavy metals.

Abstract
Background Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) provides a comprehensive assessment of pulmonary, cardiovascular and musculosceletal function. Reduced CPET performance could be an indicator for chronic morbidity after COVID-19. Methods Patients ≥18 years with confirmed PCR positive SARS-CoV-2 infection were offered to participate in a prospective observational study of clinical course and outcomes of COVID-19. 54 patients completed CPET, questionnaires on respiratory quality of life and performed pulmonary function tests 12 months after SARS-CoV-2 infection. Results At 12 months after SARS-CoV-2 infection, 46.3% of participants had a peak performance and 33.3% a peak oxygen uptake of <80% of the predicted values, respectively. Further impairments were observed in diffusion capacity and ventilatory efficiency. Functional limitations were particularly pronounced in patients after invasive mechanical ventilation and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation treatment. Ventilatory capacity was reduced <80% of predicted values in 55.6% of participants, independent from initial clinical severity. Patient reported dyspnea and respiratory quality of life after COVID-19 correlated with CPET performance and parameters of gas exchange. Risk factors for reduced CPET performance 12 months after COVID-19 were prior intensive care treatment (OR 5.58, p = 0.004), SGRQ outcome >25 points (OR 3.48, p = 0.03) and reduced DLCO (OR 3.01, p = 0.054). Conclusions Functional limitations causing chronic morbidity in COVID-19 survivors persist over 12 months after SARS-CoV-2 infection. These limitations were particularly seen in parameters of overall performance and gas exchange resulting from muscular deconditioning and lung parenchymal changes. Patient reported reduced respiratory quality of life was a risk factor for adverse CPET performance.

Abstract
Background We explored the therapeutic effects of Adipose‐derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADMSCs) and Synovial‐derived mesenchymal stem cells (SDMSCs) on osteoarthritis (OA). Methods SDMSCs and ADMSCs were co‐cultured with chondrocytes and stimulated with interleukin (IL)‐1β. An OA model was established on rats by intra‐articular injection with ADMSCs and SDMSCs. After 8 weeks, the joint diameter difference was detected, and histological staining was used to observe the pathological changes in cartilage tissue. Enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect the expressions of IL‐6, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)‐α and IL‐1β in joint fluid. The expressions of COL2A1, Aggrecan, Matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)‐13, SOX9, IL‐6, TNF‐α and IL‐1β were detected by qRT‐PCR and Western blotting in cartilage tissue. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) content in cells and cartilage tissues was detected by ROS kit. Results SDMSCs and ADMSCs co‐cultured with chondrocytes could reduce MMP‐13 expression, increase the expressions of COL2A1, Aggrecan and SOX9, as well as reverse the effects of IL‐1β on promoting ROS content and inflammatory factors levels. After the OA model was established, the injection of ADMSCs and SDMSCs reduced the differences in joint diameter and tissue lesions in OA rats. The OA model led to increased levels of IL‐6, TNF‐α and IL‐1β in joint fluid and cartilage tissue, while the injection of ADMSCs and SDMSCs inhibited the inflammatory factor levels in OA rats, and increased the expressions of COL2A1, Aggrecan and SOX9 in OA rats. Conclusion ADMSCs and SDMSCs improve osteoarthritis in rats by reducing chondrocyte ROS and inhibiting inflammatory response.

Abstract
Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system, mainly targets the optic nerve and spinal cord. To date, all attempts at the establishment of NMOSD animal models have been based on neuromyelitis optica immunoglobulin G antibody (NMO-IgG) and mimic the disease in part. To solve this problem, we developed a rodent model by opening the blood-brain barrier (BBB) with low frequency ultrasound, followed by injection of NMO-IgG from NMOSD patients and complement to mice suffering pre-existing neuroinflammation produced by experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). In this study, we showed that ultrasound with NMO-IgG and complement caused marked inflammation and demyelination of both spinal cords and optic nerves compared to blank control group, as well as glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and aquaporin-4 (AQP4) loss of spinal cords and optic nerves compared to EAE mice and EAE mice with only BBB opening. In addition, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed optic neuritis with spinal cord lesions. We further demonstrated eye segregation defects in the dorsal lateral geniculate nucleus (dLGN) of these NMOSD mice.

Abstract
Cholesterols are the main components of myelin, and are mainly synthesized in astrocytes and transported to oligodendrocytes and neurons in the adult brain. It has been reported that Hippo/yes-associated protein (YAP) pathways are involved in cholesterol synthesis in the liver, however, it remains unknown whether YAP signaling can prevent the demyelination through promoting cholesterol synthesis in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), a commonly used animal model of multiple sclerosis characterized by neuroinflammation and demyelination. Here, we found that YAP was upregulated and activated in astrocytes of spinal cords of EAE mice through suppression of the Hippo pathway. YAP deletion in astrocytes aggravated EAE with earlier onset, severer inflammatory infiltration, demyelination, and more loss of neurons. Furthermore, we found that the neuroinflammation was aggravated and the proliferation of astrocytes was decreased in YAPGFAP-CKO EAE mice. Mechanically, RNA-seq revealed that the expression of cholesterol-synthesis pathway genes such as HMGCS1 were decreased in YAP-/- astrocytes. qPCR, western blot, and immunostaining further confirmed the more significant reduction of HMGCS1 in spinal cord astrocytes of YAPGFAP-CKO EAE mice. Interestingly, upregulation of cholesterol-synthesis pathways by diarylpropionitrile (DPN) (an ERβ-ligand, to upregulate the expression of HMGCS1) treatment partially rescued the demyelination deficits in YAPGFAP-CKO EAE mice. Finally, activation of YAP by XMU-MP-1 treatment promoted the expression of HMGCS1 in astrocytes and partially rescued the demyelination and inflammatory infiltration deficits in EAE mice. These findings identify unrecognized functions of astrocytic YAP in the prevention of demyelination through promoting cholesterol synthesis in EAE, and reveal a novel pathway of YAP/HMGCS1 for cholesterol synthesis in EAE pathology.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE FOXO4 has essential roles in cellular metabolism and prevents cartilage degeneration in osteoarthritis (OA). Here we aim to provide evidence that deacetylated-FOXO4 stabilizes chondrocyte (CH) extracellular matrix (ECM) related to SOX9 activation. PATIENTS AND METHODS We used Chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) and Dual-Luciferase reporter assay to verify that the FOXO4 protein activates SOX9 by binding to its promoter. We cultured human CHs with IL-1β to cause degeneration and supplied Sirt1 protein to deacetylate FOXO4. To confirm the function of FOXO4 and SOX9 during CHs degeneration, we also used the FOXO4 and SOX9 silenced CHs by siRNA transfection as a comparison. Western blot assay was used to analyze the protein level of Sirt1, SOX9, and the acetylated condition of FOXO4. Besides, RT-PCR was used to measure the mRNA level of collagen I/II/X, aggrecan, MMP-13, and ADAMTS-5 for determining the ECM states. RESULTS FOXO4 protein transcriptionally activates SOX9 expression by binding to its promoter. Under the IL-1β stimulation, FOXO4 acetyl-lysine rate increased, and the SOX9 protein expression decreased, which was alleviated after the supplement of exogenic Sirt1 protein. Meanwhile, Sirt1 overexpression increased the collagen II and aggrecan and reduced the collagen I, collagen X, MMP-13, and ADAMTS-5 mRNA expression. However, the silencing of FOXO4 abolished the Sirt1 induced SOX9 expression and weakened the ECM production stability. Additionally, SOX9 silencing also alleviated the effect of the Sirt1 supplement on the degenerated CHs, though the FOXO4 was highly deacetylated. CONCLUSIONS FOXO4 acetylation aggravates during the degeneration of CHs, and the deacetylation of FOXO4 by Sirt1 could activate the SOX9 expression and result in maintaining the ECM stability of cartilage.

Abstract
Background Experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) is a model for inflammatory demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system (CNS), a group of autoimmune diseases characterized by inflammatory infiltration, demyelination, and axonal damage. miR-20a is dysregulated in patients with CNS inflammatory demyelinating diseases; however, the function of miR-20a remains unclear. In this study, we intended to explore the role of miR-20a in EAE. Methods The expression of miR-20a was detected by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) in EAE mice and patients with MOG antibody-associated demyelinating diseases. CD4+ T cells of EAE mice were sorted, stimulated, and polarized with miR-20a knockdown. Activation and differentiation of CD4+ T cells were analyzed by flow cytometry. The expression of target gene Map3k9 was detected by qRT-PCR and western blot experiments. The binding of miR-20a to the 3’ UTR of Map3k9 was tested by luciferase assays. The feasibility of miR-20a as a therapeutic target to alleviate the severity of EAE was explored by intravenous administration of miR-20a antagomirs to EAE mice. Results miR-20a was upregulated in splenocytes and lymph node cells, CD4+ T cells, and spinal cords of EAE mice. Moreover, miR-20a knockdown did not influence the activation of antigen-specific CD4+ T cells but promoted their differentiation into Treg cells. Map3k9 was predicted to be a target gene of miR-20a. The expressions of Map3k9 and miR-20a were negatively correlated, and miR-20a knockdown increased the expression of Map3k9. In addition, miR-20a binded to the 3’ UTR of Map3k9, and simultaneous knockdown of miR-20a and Map3k9 counteracted the enhanced differentiation of Tregs observed when miR-20a was knocked down alone. Furthermore, injection of miR-20a antagomirs to EAE mice reduced the severity of the disease and increased the proportion of Treg cells in peripheral immune organs. Conclusions miR-20a suppresses the differentiation of antigen-specific CD4+ T cells into Tregs in EAE by decreasing the expression of Map3k9. miR-20a antagomirs alleviate EAE, suggesting a new therapy for EAE and CNS inflammatory demyelinating diseases. Abstract
Regulatory B cells are a rare B-cell subset widely known to exert their immunosuppressive function via the production of interleukin-10 (IL-10) and other mechanisms. B10 cells are a special subset of regulatory B cells with immunoregulatory function that is fully attributed to IL-10. Their unique roles in the animal model of multiple sclerosis (MS) have been described, as well as their relevance in MS patients. This review specifically focuses on the identification and development of B10 cells, the signals that promote IL-10 production in B cells, the roles of B10 cells in MS, and the potential and major challenges of the application of B10-based therapies for MS.

Abstract
Aim: To establish a signature based on hypoxia-related alternative splicing (AS) events for lung adenocarcinoma. Materials & methods: The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator Cox approach was used to construct a prognostic model. A nomogram that integrates the final AS predictor and stage was created. The network of the key AS events and splicing factors was created. Results: We created a prognostic signature of 11 AS events. Moreover, a nomogram that constitutes the pathological stage and risk was exhibited to be greatly effective in estimating the survival likelihood of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Conclusion: Herein we developed the first-ever signature based on hypoxia-related AS events with both prognostic predictive power and diagnostic efficacy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To summarize the experience of three Chinese cities (Wuhan, Shanghai and Haikou) and provide a reference for global efforts to combat COVID-19 spread among children. MATERIALS AND METHODS Through collecting the measures and outcomes of preventing and controlling COVID-19 in China's three hospitals, we compared the effect of different strategies. RESULTS From January to March 2020, the number of suspected and confirmed COVID-19 cases in Wuhan increased exponentially, and Wuhan Children's Hospital as a whole was transformed into a designated quarantine and treatment facility, which is the "Wuhan Model". Shanghai has more children's hospitals with better capabilities to tackle public health emergency. Besides, it is far away from Wuhan and had a small caseload. Children's Hospital of Fudan University, a facility in Shanghai to treat pediatric infectious diseases, is famous for its well-equipped building for infectious disease treatment and professional medical team, and therefore no major transformation was required. That is the "Shanghai Model". Haikou is located on an island. Amid the outbreak, large numbers of tourists and travelers from Hubei had already arrived in Haikou. Hainan Women and Children's Medical Center, as the only pediatric care hospital in Hainan Province, did not have a separate building for infectious disease treatment. After a citywide survey of the medical resources and facilities available, a temporarily idle hospital 3 kilometers away from Hainan Women and Children's Medical Center was requisitioned as the quarantine and treatment facility for pediatric cases. That is the "Hainan Model". The three models enabled the treatment of all suspected and confirmed cases and no fatality was reported. CONCLUSIONS The COVID-19 coping strategies for children should be designed according to the existing conditions of the local children's hospitals and the risk levels of the epidemic.

Abstract
Objective: Malnutrition has been reported to be related to adverse prognosis in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients. Unfortunately, traditional nutritional assessment tools usually increase the workload of neurologists, which makes them unfeasible in the daily clinic work. We aimed to elucidate the association between the prognostic nutritional index (PNI), an easily obtainable baseline nutritional marker, and 3-month outcomes in AIS patients receiving intravenous thrombolysis (IVT). Research methods and procedures: The present study retrospectively included 405 patients. PNI was calculated as 5*lymphocyte count (109 /L) + serum albumin concentration (g/L), and the good prognosis was defined as modified Rankin Scale score of 0–3. The relationship between PNI and clinical parameters was evaluated. The multiple logistic regression model was performed to find out independent predictors of the 3-month outcomes. Results: We found that the patients in the low PNI group had a higher frequency of anemia (12.9 vs. 2.3%, P < 0.001) and a higher level of the Controlling nutritional status (CONUT) score (P < 0.001). The relationship between PNI and nutrition-related factors, such as body mass index (r = 0.208, P = 0.001), age (r = −0.329, P < 0.001), total cholesterol (r = 0.268, P < 0.001) and hemoglobin concentration (r = 0.328, P < 0.001), was significant. Low PNI value (adjusted odds ratio: 2.250, confidence interval: 1.192–4.249, p = 0.012) stayed as an independent predictor for the poor outcome at three months, after adjustment for potential confounders. Conclusions: The PNI was independently associated with 3-month outcomes in AIS patients undergoing IVT. As an easily obtainable nutritional marker, PNI may be a useful nutritional assessment tool in the clinic work.

Abstract
Superstructured colloidal materials exploit the synergies between components to develop new or enhanced functions. Cohesion is a primary requirement for scaling up these assemblies into bulk materials, and it has only been fulfilled in case-specific bases. Here, we demonstrate that the topology of nanonetworks formed from cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs) enables robust superstructuring with virtually any particle. An intermixed network of fibrils with particles increases the toughness of the assemblies by up to three orders of magnitude compared, for instance, to sintering. Supramolecular cohesion is transferred from the fibrils to the constructs following a power law, with a constant decay factor for particle sizes from 230 nm to 40 μm. Our findings are applicable to other nanofiber dimensions via a rationalization of the morphological aspects of both particles and nanofibers. CNF-based cohesion will move developments of functional colloids from laboratory-scale toward their implementation in large-scale nanomanufacturing of bulk materials.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Circular RNA (circRNA) is a novel molecular marker and target candidate that is closely associated with tumor invasion and migration. The mechanism of action of hsa_circ_0005035 (circ-IGF1R) in non-small cell lung cancer remains unclear. In this study, we aimed to study the mechanism of action of circ-IGF1R in lung cancer. METHODS We screened circ-IGF1R, one of the most notable differential expressions, from the Gene Expression Omnibus database, GSE104854, for further research. The expression level of circ-IGF1R was examined using quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) in five different lung cancer cell lines and 50 pairs of lung cancer and adjacent tissues. Wound-healing and Transwell assays were used for verifying the biological function of circ-IGF1R. The effect of overexpressing circ-IGF1R on the transcriptome of whole lung cancer cells was explored in lung cancer cell lines using RNA-seq. RESULTS The expression level of circ-IGF1R was notably lower in lung cancer tissues and lung cancer cell lines than in the adjacent normal tissues and cells (P < 0.0001). In addition, the expression level of circ-IGF1R was associated with larger tumors (T2/T3/T4) and lymph node metastasis (N1/ N2/N3) (P < 0.05). The overexpression of circ-IGF1R significantly inhibited the invasion and migration of the lung cancer cells. The potential network of circ-IGF1R-miR-1270-VANGL2 was preliminarily determined, and the expression patterns of miR-1270 and VANGL2 were verified in lung cancer cell lines. CONCLUSION Circ-IGF1R may inhibit lung cancer invasion and migration through a potential network of circ-IGF1R-miR-1270-VANGL2.

Abstract
Aims Activated microglia have been found in the forebrains and hippocampi of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) patients and status epileptic (SE) animal models. The peroxisome proliferator‐activated receptor γ (PPAR γ) agonist rosiglitazone has been shown to prevent microglial activation. However, its role in pilocarpine‐induced status epilepticus remains unknown. We aimed to examine the effect of the PPAR γ agonist rosiglitazone in protecting against pilocarpine‐induced status epileptic resulting from over‐activation and to explore phenotypic changes in microglia as the underlying mechanism. Methods Male C57BL/6 mice were assigned to three groups: the control group, pilocarpine‐induced (SE) group, and rosiglitazone‐treated (SE+Rosi) group. Status epileptic mice were administered 300 mg/kg pilocarpine via intraperitoneal injection. SE+Rosi mice were administered rosiglitazone (0.1 mg/kg, i.p.) after SE. Flow cytometry, immunofluorescence staining, and quantitative real‐time PCR were used to examine the activation of and phenotypic changes in microglia in the brain and to evaluate neuroinflammation. Results We found that the expression of proinflammatory CD86 and iNOS was increased and that the expression of antiinflammatory CD206 and Arg‐1 was decreased in the brains of pilocarpine‐induced SE mice compared to control mice. The mRNA levels of proinflammatory and antiinflammatory cytokines were not significantly changed in the brain. Rosiglitazone treatment significantly inhibited the proinflammatory polarization of microglia and rescued neuron loss in the temporal lobe and hippocampi of the brain after SE. Conclusion Rosiglitazone reverses microglial polarization in the brains of SE mice and also affords neuroprotection against pilocarpine‐induced status epilepticus without inducing significant changes in brain inflammation.

Abstract
UNLABELLED This meta-analysis included 16 studies, involving seven cohort studies and nine case-control studies, and the results indicated that tea consumption may be associated with a reduced the risk of fractures. INTRODUCTION Regarding relationship of tea consumption with the risk of fractures remains controversial. We performed a meta-analysis to elucidate the association between tea consumption and the risk of fractures. METHODS Relevant articles were identified up to March 2019 by searching PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase databases. The pooled relative risks (RRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were computed utilizing fixed or random effects model based on heterogeneity. RESULTS Altogether 16 studies (seven cohort and nine case-control studies) were included in this meta-analysis, involving 772,707 participants with 37,166 fracture cases. The RRs (95% CIs) of fracture for the highest versus lowest category of tea consumption were 0.86 (0.78-0.94). Subgroup analysis indicated significant associations in cohort studies (0.90 (0.86-0.94)) and case-control studies (0.77 (0.69-0.85)). CONCLUSIONS The current meta-analysis indicates that tea consumption may be associated with a reduced the risk of fractures.

Abstract
BACKGROUND HMA4 transporters are involved in the transport and binding of divalent heavy metals (Cd, Zn, Pb [lead] and Co [cobalt]). In general, as efflux pumps, HMA4 transporters can increase the heavy metal tolerance of yeast and Escherichia coli. Additional research has shown that the C-terminus of HMA4 contains a heavy metal-binding domain and that heterologous expression of a portion of peptides from this C-terminal domain in yeast provides a high level of Cd tolerance and Cd hyperaccumulation. RESULTS We cloned BjHMA4 from Brassica juncea, and quantitative real-time PCR analysis revealed that BjHMA4 was upregulated by Zn and Cd in the roots, stems and leaves. Overexpression of BjHMA4 dramatically affects Zn/Cd distribution in rice and wheat seedlings. Interestingly, BjHMA4 contains a repeat region named BjHMA4R within the C-terminal region; this repeat region is not far from the last transmembrane domain. We further characterized the detailed function of BjHMA4R via yeast and E. coli experiments. Notably, BjHMA4R greatly and specifically improved Cd tolerance, and BjHMA4R transformants both grew on solid media that contained 500 μM CdCl2 and presented improved Cd accumulation (approximately twice that of wild-type [WT] strains). Additionally, visualization via fluorescence microscopy indicated that BjHMA4R clearly localizes in the cytosol of yeast. Overall, these findings suggest that BjHMA4R specifically improves Cd tolerance and Cd accumulation in yeast by specifically binding Cd2+ in the cytosol under low heavy metal concentrations. Moreover, similar results in E. coli experiments corroborate this postulation. CONCLUSION BjHMA4R can specifically bind Cd2+ in the cytosol, thereby substantially and specifically improving Cd tolerance and accumulation under low heavy metal concentrations.

Abstract
AIM OF THE STUDY Acute central nervous system viral infections are progressive and inflammatory diseases with inflammatory cells infiltrating into the central nervous system (CNS), and thyroid hormone (TH) level is associated with the oxidative and antioxidant status. Variations in oxidative stress and antioxidant status are related to the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases. Our study aimed to investigate the possible correlation between viral infections in CNS and TH levels of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), free thyroxine (fT4) and free triiodothyronine (fT3). MATERIALS AND METHODS We measured serum concentrations of TSH, fT4, and fT3 in 206 individuals, including 59 viral meningitis (VM) patients, 60 viral encephalitis (VE) patients, and 87 healthy controls. RESULTS Our findings showed that VE and VM patients had lower levels of fT3 and higher levels of fT4 compared with healthy controls, whether male or female. Moreover, levels of TSH and fT3 in patients with viral infections in CNS were inversely correlated with disease prognosis measured by the Glasgow Outcome Scale. CONCLUSIONS Variations in TH level may represent the oxidative status and are surrogate biomarkers for disease prognosis of acute central nervous system viral infections.

Abstract
Background: Appendiceal carcinoma is a rare malignant tumor with aggressive potentials. Appendiceal adenocarcinoma (AA) accounts for approximately two thirds of it. Aim: This study aimed to explore the epidemiologic changes of AA and reveal the possible influences of therapeutic advances on survival of patients with AA. Methods: We retrospectively identified 6066 patients with AA treated between 2000 and 2014 from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) program. Pertinent data were analyzed for incidence and prevalence. Survival analysis was made by the actuarial or Kaplan-Meier and compared by log-rank test. Cox proportional hazards model was adopted for prognostic variable evaluation. Results: We identified 6066 cases with AA. Its annual age-adjusted incidence was 0.47 per 100,000 in 2000 and increased to 1.11 per 100,000 by 2014. The incidence increased the steepest in patients under 50 years old, with a threefold escalation to 0.60 per 100,000 in 2014. The elevation of the incidence was noted in all the histologic types, stages and grades. The 20-year limited-duration prevalence of AA was 6 per 100,000 on January 1, 2014. The multivariable analysis showed the median survival time was statistically different in gender, year of diagnosis, grade, stage, type of surgery performed and histologic subtype. The median survival time was prolonged from 2000-2006 to 2007-2014 (hazard ratio (HR) 0.87; 95% CI, 0.80-0.94). Conclusion: These results showed an elevation in the incidence, prevalence of AA, which may be interpreted by the advancement of examining techniques. The improvement in survival may result from the development of therapies. Furthermore, these results suggested clinicians pay more attention to AA and indicated some potential research directions.

Abstract
Background: KRAS mutation status is crucial in treatment decisions regarding the use of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors in colorectal cancer (CRC). However, genetic testing is not available for some patients, either because tissue is limited and/or tests are not routinely offered. Aim: We aimed to build a nomogram based on clinical factors for the prediction of KRAS mutations in CRC. Methods: Colorectal cancer patients who had their tumors genotyped for KRAS mutation at Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center (FUSCC) were retrospectively analyzed. Variables of interest were integrated in a multivariate logistic regression model. Results: A total of 759 hospitalized patients were extracted from FUSCC database. KRAS mutation presented in 40.1% (309/759) cases. Multivariate logistic regression suggested that female (OR 1.47, 95% CI 1.06-2.04), mucinous histology (OR 2.04, 95% CI 1.28-3.25), right-sided tumor (OR 1.65, 95% CI 1.13-2.39) and high levels of preoperative CEA (OR 1.45, 95% CI 1.03-2.03), CA19-9 (OR 3.87, 95% CI 2.70-5.53) and albumin/globular protein (OR 2.02, 95% CI 1.33-3.06) were significantly correlated with KRAS mutation status. A nomogram was established and showed considerable discriminating accuracy (AUC 0.744, 95% CI 0.709-0.779) in this cohort. Patients with the highest score had 88.6% chance to bear a KRAS-mutant tumor. Subgroup analysis based on metastasis status revealed a sound applicability of the established nomogram both in metastatic (AUC 0.723, 95% CI 0.666-0.781) and nonmetastatic (AUC 0.753, 95% CI 0.707-0.798) CRC. Conclusion: Six simple and easy-to-collect characteristics defined a useful nomogram to predict KRAS status both in metastatic and nonmetastatic CRC with great predictive accuracy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE After arteriolar occlusion, collaterals enlarge and initially elevated WSS normalizes. While most previous studies focused on endpoints of such adaptive changes in larger collaterals, the present investigation aimed to continuously determine the relation between WSS and diameter in microvascular collaterals during adaptive reactions. METHODS In Hamburger-Hamilton stage 40 CAMs, junction points between arteriolar segments were identified and the third upstream segment on one side was occluded. Intravital microscopy recordings were taken for 24 hours post-occlusion. Segment diameter and blood velocity were measured: WSS and capillary density were calculated. RESULTS After occlusion, vascular diameters exhibited an immediate decrease, then increased with a time constant of 2.5 ± 0.8 hours and reached a plateau of up to 60% above baseline after about 7 hours. Vascular tone showed no significant change. WSS exhibited an immediate increase post-occlusion and linearly returned to baseline after about 12 hours. Local WSS change and diameter change rate showed similar patterns during the initial but not the later phase of post-occlusive adaptation. CONCLUSIONS CAM collaterals undergo fast structural remodeling within 24 hours post-occlusion. This remodeling might be driven by local WSS and by other regulators within the vascular network.

Abstract
This paper proposes an Adaptive Dynamic Causal Modelling based approach to detect and quantify effective connectivity in human brain structures injured by epileptic activities. The identification of the parameters in the physiology based model subtended the Electroencephalographic observations is performed by improving the optimization step in the Expectation Maximization algorithm. Considering unidirectional flow propagation, we show the efficiency of our proposed approach compared to the conventional technique.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a neurodegenerative and inflammatory demyelination disorder, and oxidative stress is concerned with the pathogenesis of the disease. Also, we found that thyroid hormone level is correlated to the oxidative and antioxidant status in previous studies. Our study was aimed to find the possible relationship between the frequency and severity of GBS and thyroid hormone levels. MATERIALS AND METHODS We measured serum levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), free thyroxine (FT4) and free triiodothyronine (FT3) in 238 individuals, including 90 GBS, 44 multiple sclerosis and 104 healthy controls. RESULTS Our findings demonstrate that the patients with GBS had lower TSH and higher FT4, FT4/FT3 than healthy controls in the normal range. Furthermore, it was also shown in our study that TSH levels in patients with GBS were correlated with disease severity measured by the Hughes Functional Grading Scale. CONCLUSION Lower TSH, higher FT4 and FT4/FT3 stand for the oxidative status and are associated with the incidence and severity of GBS.

Abstract
The chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) is extensively used as an in vivo model. Here, structure and hemodynamics of CAM vessel trees were analyzed and compared with predictions of Murray's law. CAM microvascular networks of Hamburger-Hamilton stage 40 chick embryos were scanned by videomicroscopy. Three networks with ∼3,800, 580, and 480 segments were digitally reconstructed, neglecting the capillary mesh. Vessel diameters (D) and segment lengths were measured, and generation numbers and junctional exponents at bifurcations were derived. In selected vessels, flow velocities (v) and hematocrit were measured. Hemodynamic simulations, incorporating the branching of capillaries from preterminal vessels, were used to estimate v, volume flow, shear stress (τ), and pressure for all segments of the largest network. For individual arteriovenous flow pathways, terminal arterial and venous generation numbers are negatively correlated, leading to low variability of total topological and morphological pathway lengths. Arteriolar velocity is proportional to diameter (v∝D1.03 measured, v∝D0.93 modeling), giving nearly uniform τ levels (τ∝D0.05). Venular trees exhibit slightly higher exponents (v∝D1.3, τ∝D0.38). Junctional exponents at divergent and convergent bifurcations were 2.05 ± 1.13 and 1.97 ± 0.95 (mean ± SD) in contrast to the value 3 predicted by Murray's law. In accordance with Murray's law, τ levels are (nearly) maintained in CAM arterial (venular) trees, suggesting vascular adaptation to shear stress. Arterial and venous trees show an interdigitating arrangement providing homogeneous flow pathway properties and have preterminal capillary branches. These properties may facilitate efficient oxygen exchange in the CAM during rapid embryonic growth.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Recent studies have suggested that serum uric acid (SUA) induces oxidative stress and inflammation, which are involved in the mechanism of cardiac hypertrophy. In patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), comorbidity of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) exacerbates cardiac function. In this study, we investigated the association between SUA and cardiac hypertrophy in AF patients. METHODS AND RESULTS Initially, 1296 consecutive elderly patients (age >60) with nonvalvular AF were retrospectively selected from the inpatient clinic between January 2012 and April 2015. Demographic, clinical, and echocardiographic characteristics were carefully recorded. The final study population was 577 patients. The mean SUA level was significantly higher in patients with LVH than those without LVH. Compared with the non-LVH group, the LVH group was older, had a higher percentage of female patients, and had lower hemoglobin levels and estimated glomerular filtration rates. Patients in the LVH group also had a higher rate of coronary heart disease and fewer had history of radiofrequency ablation compared with the non-LVH group. In the hyperuricemia group, B-type natriuretic peptide levels, left atrial diameter, left ventricular mass index, and percentage of NYHA (New York Heart Association) class III/IV were significantly higher than the SUA normal group. Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated the independent risk factors for LVH in elderly AF patients included SUA, age, male sex, the presence of coronary heart disease, and diuretic therapy. Subgroup analysis identified SUA as a significant risk factor associated with LVH in men. CONCLUSIONS SUA was independently associated with LVH in elderly male patients with nonvalvular AF.

Abstract
UNLABELLED This study aimed to evaluate the risk factors affecting survival rate of digital replantation by a meta-analysis. A computer retrieval of MEDLINE, OVID, EMBASE, and CNKI databases was conducted to identify citations for digital replantation with digit or finger or thumb or digital or fingertip and replantation as keywords. RevMan 5.2 software was used to calculate the pooled odds ratios. In total, there were 4678 amputated digits in 2641 patients. Gender and ischemia time had no significant influence on the survival rate of amputation replantation (P > 0.05). Age, injured hand, injury type, zone, and the method of preservation the amputated digit significantly influence the survival rate of digital replantation (P < 0.05). Children, right hand, crush, or avulsion and little finger are the risk factors that adversely affect the outcome. THE LEVEL OF EVIDENCE Level 5*.

Abstract
There is an obvious scientific interest in computing blood flow velocity from intravital microscopy using digital video cameras attached to microscopes. Therefore, software capable of measuring blood flow velocity from videos is of major importance. In this work, a novel software tool is presented. The software tackles three main issues in velocity measurement from videos, the registration, segmentation, and finally the measuring itself. The software was tested in chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) videos captured with different resolutions, frame rates, and even cameras. The obtained results show the robustness achieved.
