Abstract
Indirect Drive Inertial Confinement Fusion Experiments on the National Ignition Facility (NIF) have achieved a burning plasma state with neutron yields exceeding 170 kJ, roughly 3 times the prior record and a necessary stage for igniting plasmas. The results are achieved despite multiple sources of degradations that lead to high variability in performance. Results shown here, for the first time, include an empirical correction factor for mode-2 asymmetry in the burning plasma regime in addition to previously determined corrections for radiative mix and mode-1. Analysis shows that including these three corrections alone accounts for the measured fusion performance variability in the two highest performing experimental campaigns on the NIF to within error. Here we quantify the performance sensitivity to mode-2 symmetry in the burning plasma regime and apply the results, in the form of an empirical correction to a 1D performance model. Furthermore, we find the sensitivity to mode-2 determined through a series of integrated 2D radiation hydrodynamic simulations to be consistent with the experimentally determined sensitivity only when including alpha-heating.

Abstract
On December 5, 2022, an indirect drive fusion implosion on the National Ignition Facility (NIF) achieved a target gain G_{target} of 1.5. This is the first laboratory demonstration of exceeding "scientific breakeven" (or G_{target}>1) where 2.05 MJ of 351 nm laser light produced 3.1 MJ of total fusion yield, a result which significantly exceeds the Lawson criterion for fusion ignition as reported in a previous NIF implosion [H. Abu-Shawareb et al. (Indirect Drive ICF Collaboration), Phys. Rev. Lett. 129, 075001 (2022)PRLTAO0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.129.075001]. This achievement is the culmination of more than five decades of research and gives proof that laboratory fusion, based on fundamental physics principles, is possible. This Letter reports on the target, laser, design, and experimental advancements that led to this result.

Abstract
As a recently discovered waste removal system in the brain, cerebral lymphatic system is thought to play an important role in regulating the homeostasis of the central nervous system. Currently, more and more attention is being focused on the cerebral lymphatic system. Further understanding of the structural and functional characteristics of cerebral lymphatic system is essential to better understand the pathogenesis of diseases and to explore therapeutic approaches. In this review, we summarize the structural components and functional characteristics of cerebral lymphatic system. More importantly, it is closely associated with peripheral system diseases in the gastrointestinal tract, liver, and kidney. However, there is still a gap in the study of the cerebral lymphatic system. However, we believe that it is a critical mediator of the interactions between the central nervous system and the peripheral system.

Abstract
In this work we present the design of the first controlled fusion laboratory experiment to reach target gain G>1 N221204 (5 December 2022) [Phys. Rev. Lett. 132, 065102 (2024)10.1103/PhysRevLett.132.065102], performed at the National Ignition Facility, where the fusion energy produced (3.15 MJ) exceeded the amount of laser energy required to drive the target (2.05 MJ). Following the demonstration of ignition according to the Lawson criterion N210808, experiments were impacted by nonideal experimental fielding conditions, such as increased (known) target defects that seeded hydrodynamic instabilities or unintentional low-mode asymmetries from nonuniformities in the target or laser delivery, which led to reduced fusion yields less than 1 MJ. This Letter details design changes, including using an extended higher-energy laser pulse to drive a thicker high-density carbon (also known as diamond) capsule, that led to increased fusion energy output compared to N210808 as well as improved robustness for achieving high fusion energies (greater than 1 MJ) in the presence of significant low-mode asymmetries. For this design, the burnup fraction of the deuterium and tritium (DT) fuel was increased (approximately 4% fuel burnup and a target gain of approximately 1.5 compared to approximately 2% fuel burnup and target gain approximately 0.7 for N210808) as a result of increased total (DT plus capsule) areal density at maximum compression compared to N210808. Radiation-hydrodynamic simulations of this design predicted achieving target gain greater than 1 and also the magnitude of increase in fusion energy produced compared to N210808. The plasma conditions and hotspot power balance (fusion power produced vs input power and power losses) using these simulations are presented. Since the drafting of this manuscript, the results of this paper have been replicated and exceeded (N230729) in this design, together with a higher-quality diamond capsule, setting a new record of approximately 3.88MJ of fusion energy and fusion energy target gain of approximately 1.9.

Abstract
An indirect-drive inertial fusion experiment on the National Ignition Facility was driven using 2.05 MJ of laser light at a wavelength of 351 nm and produced 3.1±0.16 MJ of total fusion yield, producing a target gain G=1.5±0.1 exceeding unity for the first time in a laboratory experiment [Phys. Rev. E 109, 025204 (2024)10.1103/PhysRevE.109.025204]. Herein we describe the experimental evidence for the increased drive on the capsule using additional laser energy and control over known degradation mechanisms, which are critical to achieving high performance. Improved fuel compression relative to previous megajoule-yield experiments is observed. Novel signatures of the ignition and burn propagation to high yield can now be studied in the laboratory for the first time.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Nurses suffer a certain degree of work alienation (a psychological state in which employees feel separated from their jobs because the jobs do not meet the needs of employees or do not match their expectations). It is necessary to identify predictors of work alienation and find effective interventions. OBJECTIVE To explore the influence of organizational climate and job stress on work alienation among nurses in emergency departments. METHODS This was a cross-sectional study conducted from June to August 2022. A convenience sampling method was adopted to invite 342 nurses from emergency departments in 12 tertiary public hospitals in 4 cities in China. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaires on organizational climate, job stress, and work alienation. Path analysis implemented by IBM AMOS 21.0 was used to explore the associations among organizational climate, job stress, and work alienation. RESULTS Job stress can positively affect work alienation among nurses in emergency departments (β = 0.44, P < .01). Organizational climate can directly and negatively affect work alienation (β = -0.33, P < .01); it can also negatively and indirectly affect work alienation through job stress (β = -0.20, 95% confidence interval: -0.252 to -0.146). CONCLUSIONS Job stress partially mediated the effect of organizational climate on work alienation among nurses in emergency departments. The findings provided a valuable perspective on predictors of work alienation among emergency department nurses.

Abstract
Background Septic shock occurs when sepsis is related to severe hypotension and leads to a remarkable high number of deaths. The early diagnosis of septic shock is essential to reduce mortality. High-quality biomarkers can be objectively measured and evaluated as indicators to accurately predict disease diagnosis. However, single-gene prediction efficiency is inadequate; therefore, we identified a risk-score model based on gene signature to elevate predictive efficiency. Methods The gene expression profiles of GSE33118 and GSE26440 were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. These two datasets were merged, and the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified using the limma package in R software. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichments of DEGs were performed. Subsequently, Lasso regression and Boruta feature selection algorithm were combined to identify the hub genes of septic shock. GSE9692 was then subjected to weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) to identify the septic shock-related gene modules. Subsequently, the genes within such modules that matched with septic shock-related DEGs were identified as the hub genes of septic shock. To further understand the function and signaling pathways of hub genes, we performed gene set variation analysis (GSVA) and then used the CIBERSORT tool to analyze the immune cell infiltration pattern of diseases. The diagnostic value of hub genes in septic shock was determined using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis and verified using quantitative PCR (qPCR) and Western blotting in our hospital patients with septic shock. Results A total of 975 DEGs in the GSE33118 and GSE26440 databases were obtained, of which 30 DEGs were remarkably upregulated. With the use of Lasso regression and Boruta feature selection algorithm, six hub genes (CD177, CLEC5A, CYSTM1, MCEMP1, MMP8, and RGL4) with expression differences in septic shock were screened as potential diagnostic markers for septic shock among the significant DEGs and were further validated in the GSE9692 dataset. WGCNA was used to identify the co-expression modules and module-trait correlation. Enrichment analysis showed significant enrichment in the reactive oxygen species pathway, hypoxia, phosphatidylinositol 3-kinases (PI3K)/Protein Kinase B (AKT)/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling, nuclear factor-κβ/tumor necrosis factor alpha (NF-κβ/TNF-α), and interleukin-6 (IL-6)/Janus Kinase (JAK)/Signal Transducers and Activators of Transcription 3 (STAT3) signaling pathways. The receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) of these signature genes was 0.938, 0.914, 0.939, 0.956, 0.932, and 0.914, respectively. In the immune cell infiltration analysis, the infiltration of M0 macrophages, activated mast cells, neutrophils, CD8 T cells, and naive B cells was more significant in the septic shock group. In addition, higher expression levels of CD177, CLEC5A, CYSTM1, MCEMP1, MMP8, and RGL4 messenger RNA (mRNA) were observed in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) isolated from septic shock patients than from healthy donors. Higher expression levels of CD177 and MMP8 proteins were also observed in the PBMCs isolated from septic shock patients than from control participants. Conclusions CD177, CLEC5A, CYSTM1, MCEMP1, MMP8, and RGL4 were identified as hub genes, which were of considerable value in the early diagnosis of septic shock patients. These preliminary findings are of great significance for studying immune cell infiltration in the pathogenesis of septic shock, which should be further validated in clinical studies and basic studies.

Abstract
Grains account for a large proportion of the diet of rural residents in Tibet. The lack of selenium (Se) and zinc (Zn) threatens the population's nutrition and health. However, the intakes of selenium and zinc in grains remains unclear. To clarify the nutritional status of selenium and zinc consumed from staple grains of residents along the Yarlung Zangbo River in Tibet, 341 grain samples and 242 urine samples were collected, and 244 food frequency questionnaires were completed along the Yarlung Zangbo River in 2020-2021. The results showed that the selenium concentrations of 88.5% of self-produced tsampa and 80.8% of self-produced flour were lower than the grain selenium threshold (<25 μg·kg-1). The intake of selenium and zinc from staple grains (tsampa, flour, and rice) contributed 15.0% and 43.5% to the recommended nutrient intake (RNI) on average, respectively. A geographical detector model analyzed factors affecting urinary selenium and zinc levels. Selenium and zinc intakes in rice and flour, and dietary diversity score (DDS) were the main factors affecting urinary selenium and zinc (p < 0.01). Their interaction effects on urinary selenium and zinc were greater than those of a single factor. The staple grains of rural residents along the Yarlung Zangbo River were in a state of selenium deficiency. The zinc content of the staple grain purchased was lower than that of the main grain produced by rural residents. Changing the grain consumption pattern and adjusting the proportion of exogenous grains can improve selenium and zinc nutrition in residents.

Abstract
Objective: To present efficacy of clinical application of a classification based on crucial curvature of coronal imbalance in degenerative lumbar scoliosis (DLS). Methods: A case series study. Clinical data of 61 cases (8 males, 53 females) who underwent posterior correction surgery for DLS from January 2019 to January 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. The mean age was (71.7±6.2) years (ranged 60-82 years). According to the direction of C7 plumb line (C7PL) deviated from central sacral vertical line (CSVL) and orientation of L4 coronal tilt, the author determined which one was the crucial curve. If C7PL deviated from CSVL in the same direction as concave side of the thoracolumbar curve and L4 coronally tilts opposite direction of C7PL deviates from CSVL, then the crucial curve was thoracolumbar curve (type 1). On the contrary, if C7PL deviated from CSVL in the same direction as concave side of the lumbosacral curve and L4 coronally tilts consist with direction of C7PL deviates from CSVL, then the crucial curve was lumbosacral curve (type 2). According to absolute value of coronal balance distance (|CBD|), each type of patients was divided into two groups, respectively, namely coronal balance (CB) (|CBD|≤3 cm) and coronal imbalance (CIB) (|CBD|>3 cm). Changes of Cobb angles of thoracolumbar curve and lumbosacral curve and CBD were recorded and analyzed. Results: The rate of preoperative CIB was 55.7% (34/61) in all the patients. Of the patients, 23 cases were classified as type 1 and 38 cases as type 2. The rate of preoperative CIB was 34.8% (8/23) in type 1 patients and 68.4% (26/38) in type 2. The rate of postoperative CIB was 27.9% (17/61) in all the patients, with 13.0% (3/23) in type 1 and 36.8% (14/38) in type 2. The |CBD| of CB group in type 1 patients decreased from (2.6±1.4) cm before the operation to (1.5±1.0) cm after (P=0.015); and the correction rate of thoracolumbar curve (68.8%±18.4%) was significantly higher than that of lumbosacral curve (34.5%±23.9%) (P=0.005). The |CBD| of CB group in type 2 patients decreased from (2.6±3.0) cm before the operation to (1.6±1.2) cm after (P=0.027); the correction rate of lumbosacral curve (71.3%±18.6%) was higher than that of thoracolumbar curve (57.3%±21.1%), but the difference was not statistically significant (P=0.546). There was no significant difference in |CBD| of CIB group in type 2 patients before and after the operation (P=0.222); the correction rate of lumbosacral curve (38.3%±14.8%) was significantly lower than that of thoracolumbar curve (53.6%±16.0%) (P=0.001). There was a correlation between the change of CBD (3.8±1.5) cm and the difference in correction rate between thoracolumbar and lumbosacral curve (32.3%±19.6%) in CB group in type 1 patients after surgery (r=0.904, P<0.001). There was a correlation between the change of CBD (1.9±2.2) cm and the difference in correction rate between lumbosacral and thoracolumbar curve (14.0%±26.2%) in CB group in type 2 patients after surgery (r=0.960, P<0.001). Conclusion: Clinical application of a classification based on crucial curvature of coronal imbalance in DLS is satisfactory, and its combination with matching correction can effectively prevent the occurrence of coronal imbalance after spinal correction surgery.

Abstract
This study aimed to examine the influence of dietary CP on the apparent ileal digestibility (AID) and standardized ileal digestibility (SID) of amino acids (AA) and test the additivity of AA digestibility in corn-soybean meal-based diets fed to broilers. Six experimental diets comprising a nitrogen-free diet and five corn-soybean meal-based diets containing 6.0%, 9.5%, 13.0%, 16.5%, and 20.0% CP were prepared. Increments in CP and AA concentrations were achieved by increasing the inclusion rate of corn and soybean meal at the expense of cornstarch. All diets contained 0.5% chromic oxide, which was included as an indigestible index. A total of 960 Ross 308 male broilers 19-day-old male broilers (Ross 308), with a mean BW of 628 g (SD = 58.0), were allocated to six dietary treatment groups in a randomized complete block design, with each treatment group have eight replicate cages and 20 birds per cage. All birds were fed the experimental diets for 4 days. On d 23, individual BW and feed intake were recorded, followed by collection of ileal digesta samples from the distal ileum. Regarding growth, the final BW, weight gain, feed intake, and gain to feed ratio increased linearly (P < 0.001) as dietary CP concentrations increased. With the increase in dietary CP concentrations from 6.0% to 20.0%, the AID of all AA, except Arg, increased linearly (P < 0.05). However, the SID of all AA, except Arg, Cys, and Pro, remained unaffected by CP concentrations in the diets. This study indicated that dietary CP concentrations from 6.0% to 20.0% have an effect on the growth performance of birds and the AID of most AA; however, the SID of most AA was not affected by dietary CP concentrations in the corn-soybean meal-based diets. In conclusion, the SID of AA is more additive than the AID of AA in poultry diets containing CP in the range of 6.0% to 20.0%.

Abstract
The participants in this study were 20-49 years old rural childbearing age people who received the National Free Preconception Health Examination Project (NFPHEP) in Yunnan Province during 2013 to 2019. The proportion of ABO and RhD blood groups among different ethnic groups and different areas were calculated. The proportion of 2 748 131 participants with blood group A phenotype was highest (32.60%), followed by O (30.60%), B (27.33%) and AB (9.47%). In the RhD blood system, the proportion of the RhD positivity (RhD+) and RhD negativity (RhD-) group were 99.29% and 0.71% respectively. The proportions blood groups were significantly different among ethnic groups and areas (all P<0.001). Among 18 ethnic groups with more than 3 000 participants, Yao (42.75%), Bouyei (40.58%) and Dai (40.37%) ethnic groups had higher proportion of blood group O phenotype than other ethnic groups. Wa ethnic groups had highest proportion of the A (40.15%) and AB phenotypes (11.23%). Miao ethnic group (34.70%) and Lahu ethnic group (34.42%) had higher proportion of blood group B phenotype than other ethnic groups. Wa ethnic group had the highest proportion of RhD-group (1.88%). In all 16 prefectures of Yunnan, the proportion of blood group O phenotype was highest in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture (40.27%). Baoshan city (36.39%), Lincang city (36.22%) and Dali Bai autonomous prefecture (36.06%) had higher proportion of blood group A phenotype than other regions. Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture (30.83%) and Qujing city (30.48%) had higher proportion of blood group B phenotype than other areas, while Zhaotong city had a highest proportion of blood group AB phenotype (11.19%). The proportion of RhD-group was highest in Honghe hani and Yi nationality autonomous prefecture(1.37%). The A RhD+(39.36%), A RhD-(0.78%), AB RhD+(11.03%), AB RhD-(0.20%) and O RhD-(0.48%) blood groups were higher proportion in Wa ethnic group than in other ethnic groups (P<0.001).

Abstract
For more than half a century, researchers around the world have been engaged in attempts to achieve fusion ignition as a proof of principle of various fusion concepts. Following the Lawson criterion, an ignited plasma is one where the fusion heating power is high enough to overcome all the physical processes that cool the fusion plasma, creating a positive thermodynamic feedback loop with rapidly increasing temperature. In inertially confined fusion, ignition is a state where the fusion plasma can begin "burn propagation" into surrounding cold fuel, enabling the possibility of high energy gain. While "scientific breakeven" (i.e., unity target gain) has not yet been achieved (here target gain is 0.72, 1.37 MJ of fusion for 1.92 MJ of laser energy), this Letter reports the first controlled fusion experiment, using laser indirect drive, on the National Ignition Facility to produce capsule gain (here 5.8) and reach ignition by nine different formulations of the Lawson criterion.

Abstract
An inertial fusion implosion on the National Ignition Facility, conducted on August 8, 2021 (N210808), recently produced more than a megajoule of fusion yield and passed Lawson's criterion for ignition [Phys. Rev. Lett. 129, 075001 (2022)10.1103/PhysRevLett.129.075001]. We describe the experimental improvements that enabled N210808 and present the first experimental measurements from an igniting plasma in the laboratory. Ignition metrics like the product of hot-spot energy and pressure squared, in the absence of self-heating, increased by ∼35%, leading to record values and an enhancement from previous experiments in the hot-spot energy (∼3×), pressure (∼2×), and mass (∼2×). These results are consistent with self-heating dominating other power balance terms. The burn rate increases by an order of magnitude after peak compression, and the hot-spot conditions show clear evidence for burn propagation into the dense fuel surrounding the hot spot. These novel dynamics and thermodynamic properties have never been observed on prior inertial fusion experiments.

Abstract
This study investigated the bioaccumulation and transfer of heavy metals including Cd, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn in soil-crop system in Lhasa, and assessed the health risks of the edible part of the crops. The results showed that the average values of Cd, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn were 0.15, 44.55, 24.68, 532.40, 22.47, 38.18 and 73.99 mg kg-1 in natural soil, and 0.16, 46.93, 38.45, 559.13, 23.23, 40.03 and 83.29 mg kg-1 in cultivated soil, respectively. Highland barley and wheat had the strongest ability to accumulate Zn in grain, the BCF values were 0.24 and 0.27, respectively, significant differences in the distribution of metal contents in crop root, stem, leaf and grain were observed. Root presented larger accumulation capacity in most metals, Zn and Cu was easily transferred in the plant organs, most metals in this study presented difficult to migrate from root to grain. The transfer peak of most metals in soil-crop system appeared from stem to leaf. The concentrations of Cr and Mn in crop grains could be predicted according to the multiple linear regression models. THQ and HI values of heavy metals in edible parts of both highland barley and wheat were below the safety threshold of 1, indicating no detrimental effects posed to adults health. This study helps to understand the accumulation and transfer of heavy metals in soil-crop system in plateau region.

Abstract
We present the design of the first igniting fusion plasma in the laboratory by Lawson's criterion that produced 1.37 MJ of fusion energy, Hybrid-E experiment N210808 (August 8, 2021) [Phys. Rev. Lett. 129, 075001 (2022)10.1103/PhysRevLett.129.075001]. This design uses the indirect drive inertial confinement fusion approach to heat and compress a central "hot spot" of deuterium-tritium (DT) fuel using a surrounding dense DT fuel piston. Ignition occurs when the heating from absorption of α particles created in the fusion process overcomes the loss mechanisms in the system for a duration of time. This letter describes key design changes which enabled a ∼3-6× increase in an ignition figure of merit (generalized Lawson criterion) [Phys. Plasmas 28, 022704 (2021)1070-664X10.1063/5.0035583, Phys. Plasmas 25, 122704 (2018)1070-664X10.1063/1.5049595]) and an eightfold increase in fusion energy output compared to predecessor experiments. We present simulations of the hot-spot conditions for experiment N210808 that show fundamentally different behavior compared to predecessor experiments and simulated metrics that are consistent with N210808 reaching for the first time in the laboratory "ignition."

Abstract
Purpose Sepsis, which is deemed as a systemic inflammation reaction syndrome in the face of infectious stimuli, is the primary cause of death in ICUs. Sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy (SIC) may derive from systemic inflammation reaction and oxidative stress. Retinoic acid (RA) is recognized by its beneficial roles in terms of the immunoresponse to infections and antioxygen actions. However, the treatment efficacy and potential causal links of RA in SIC are still elusive. Methods By virtue of the STITCH database, we identified the targets of RA. Differentially expressed genes in SIC were acquired from the GEO database. The PPI network of intersected targets was established. GO and KEGG pathway enrichment analysis was completed. Hub genes were analyzed by cytoHubba plug-in. In the process of experimental validation, a mouse sepsis model was established by lipopolysaccharide (LPS), and the treated mice were intraperitoneally injected with RA or Dexamethasone (DEX) 60 min prior to LPS injections. Survival conditions, cardiac functions and antioxidant levels of the mice were assessed. Cardiac inflammation and injury were detected by HE and TUNEL. The levels of key genes and signal pathway expression were analyzed by RT-PCR and Western blot. Results PPARA, ITGAM, VCAM-1, IGF-1 and IL-6 were identified as key therapeutic targets of RA by network pharmacology. PI3K-Akt signaling pathway is the main regulatory pathway of RA. In vivo researches unraveled that RA can improve the survival rate and cardiac function of LPS-treated mice, inhibit inflammatory factors and myocardial injury, and regulate the expression of key therapeutic targets and key pathways, which is PI3K-Akt signaling pathway. Conclusion Network pharmacological method offers a predicative strategy to explore the treatment efficacy and causal links of RA in endotoxemic myocarditis. Through experimental verification, we discover that RA can reduce lipopolysaccharide-induced cardiac dysfunction by regulating the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway and key genes.

Abstract
Electroacupuncture (EA) is commonly used to treat cerebrovascular diseases. This study aimed to clarify the mechanisms of action of treatments of cerebral ischemic stroke from the perspective of gut microecology. We used a mouse model and cell cultures to investigate the effects of EA on the intestinal microflora in mice models of middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) and the mechanisms underlying the antioxidant activities of metabolites. Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) was used to validate the roles of gut microbiota. Metabolomic analysis was performed to characterize the metabolic profile differences between the mice in the EA + MCAO and MCAO groups. Gavaging with feces relieved brain damage in mice that received EA (EA mice) more than in mice that did not (non-EA [NEA] mice). The gut microbial composition and metabolic profiles of the EA and NEA mice were different. In particular, the microbiota from the mice in the EA or EA-FMT groups generated more indole-3-propionic acid (IPA) than the microbiota from the mice in the MCAO or NEA-FMT groups. We confirmed that IPA binds to specific melatonin receptors (MTRs) in target cells and exerts antioxidant effects by adding MTR inhibitors or knocking out the MTR1 gene in vivo and in the oxygen and glucose deprivation/reperfusion models of N2a cell experiments. EA can prevent ischemic stroke by improving the composition of intestinal microbiota in MCAO mice. Moreover, this study reveals a new mechanism of intestinal flora regulation of stroke that differs from inflammation/immunity, namely gut microbiota regulates stroke by affecting IPA levels.

Abstract
The present study aimed to explore the pathogenesis of autoimmune myocarditis induced by PD-1 inhibitors and their potential therapeutic targets. Mouse models of autoimmune myocarditis induced by PD-1 inhibitor in mouse models of polymyositis were established. The expression level of PD-1 and regulatory T cells (Tregs), CD4, CD8 + T cells, inflammation, apoptosis and autophagy-related factors, including IL-6, TGF-β, AMA-M2, Fas/FasL, LC3 and p62 were detected in peripheral blood, muscle or myocardium of mice in each group, using ELISA, RT-PCR, Western Blot and immunofluorescence. In addition, HE and TUNEL staining and ultrastructural scanning were performed on the myocardium of mice in each group. Results showed that the expression level of PD-1 in the two myositis groups was significantly lower than that in the control group, and the level of PD-1 was lower in the myocarditis group than that in the polymyositis group. In the myocardium, TGF-β, p62, and Tregs proportion showed the same expression level trend as PD-1, while CD8, IL-6, IL-10 and LC3 showed the opposite trend. Levels of Fas/FasL were significantly higher in both myositis groups, but were slightly lower in the myocarditis group, as was AMA-M2. Inflammation, apoptosis, and autophagy were observed in both myositis groups, but were more severe in the myocarditis group. In summary, the decreased expression level of PD-1 leads to decreased Tregs level in the myocardium, aggravated inflammatory response, apoptosis and autophagy, which may be the pathological mechanism of myocarditis induced by PD-1 inhibitors.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the diagnostic value of the preoperative liver function for occult pancreaticobiliary reflux (OPBR) in patients with gallstones. Methods: Patients with gallstones in Shanghai East Hospital were enrolled from December 2020 to June 2021. Their intraoperative bile and clinical data were collected. According to the gallbladder bile amylase level, patients were divided into the OPBR group (bile amylase>110 U/L) and the control group (bile amylase ≤ 110 U/L). Preoperative liver function levels of the two groups were compared, and the differential parameters were accessed by the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. And the risk factors for OPBR were tested by multiple logistic regression analysis. Results: Among 249 patients, 83 were male and 166 were female, aged 50 (37, 62) years; There were 218 cases in control group, including 70 males and 148 females, aged 49 (36, 61) years; There were 31 patients in the OPBR group, including 13 males and 18 females, aged 58 (51, 65) years. For preoperative liver function, gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in the OPBR group were higher than those in the control group [35 (18, 59) vs 19 (13, 34) U/L, 80 (71, 97) vs 69 (57, 83) U/L; both P<0.01]. ROC indicated that preoperative GGT and ALP had important predictive values for OPBR in gallstone patients. Their respective optimal cut-off value and area under the ROC curve [AUC (95%CI)] were GGT ≥ 30 U/L, 0.656 (0.542-0.770), P=0.005; ALP≥70 U/L, 0.693 (0.613-0.773), P=0.001, respectively. In addition, multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the levels of GGT [OR (95%CI)=2.856 (1.260-6.473), P=0.012] and ALP [OR (95%CI)=3.685 (1.314-10.333), P=0.013] were independent-related factors for OPBR in patients with gallstones. Conclusion: Preoperative liver function assessment is of great significance for patients with gallstones, while GGT and ALP are important for predicting OPBR in patients with gallstones.

Abstract
Dietary imbalances are an important cause of morbidity and mortality, both in China and globally. Abnormal element content in the natural environment and the unbalanced dietary structure of populations coexist in the Tibetan Plateau. This study analyzed the dietary and food consumption patterns of 617 Tibetan residents and their associated factors. Cluster analysis revealed three modes of dietary pattern; the food consumption scores (FCSs) of subjects in modes with relatively high consumption frequency of staple food and relatively singular dietary structure were the lowest. Although the FCSs of most subjects were acceptable (FCS > 35), subjects with relatively low FCSs were more dependent on locally cultivated highland barley that is probably low in selenium. Hierarchical linear models revealed both individual−family and regional factors were significantly related (p values < 0.05) with the food consumption of subjects as follows: age, travel time from township to county, and cultivation area of highland barley were negatively related; numbers of individuals aged 40−60 years and pork, beef, and mutton production were positively related. Individuals with secondary or higher education had higher FCSs. A single indicator may be incomprehensive in dietary and food consumption studies. For people with a relatively unbalanced diet, an analysis of the main foods they consume is critical. Dietary and food consumption patterns might have relatively large inter-regional and intra-regional variations; therefore, factors that influence it might be multi-level and multi-scale.

Abstract
Previous studies have demonstrated that cardiomyocyte apoptosis, ferroptosis, and inflammation participate in the progress of sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy (SIC). Although Islet cell autoantigen 69 (ICA69) is an imperative molecule that could regulate inflammation and immune response in numerous illnesses, its function in cardiovascular disease, particularly in SIC, is still elusive. We confirmed that LPS significantly enhanced the expression of ICA69 in wild-type (WT) mice, macrophages, and cardiomyocytes. The knockout of ICA69 in lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced mice markedly elevated survival ratio and heart function, while inhibiting cardiac muscle and serum inflammatory cytokines, reactive oxygen (ROS), and ferroptosis biomarkers. Mechanistically, increased expression of ICA69 triggered the production of STING, which further resulted in the production of intracellular lipid peroxidation, eventually triggering ferroptosis and heart injury. Intriguingly, ICA69 deficiency only reversed the ferroptotic marker levels, such as prostaglandin endoperoxide synthase 2 (PTGS2), malonaldehyde (MDA), 4-hydroxynonenal (4HNE), glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4), superoxide dismutase (SOD), iron and lipid ROS, but had no effects on the xCT-dependent manner. Additionally, greater ICA69 level was identified in septic patients peripheralblood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) than in normal control groups. Generally, we unveil that ICA69 deficiency can relieve inflammation and ferroptosis in LPS-induced murine hearts and macrophages, making targeting ICA69 in heart a potentially promising treatment method for SIC.

Association of selenium, arsenic, and other trace elements in drinking water and urine in residents of the plateau region in China. Abstract
Drinking water is considered to be an important exposure pathway for humans to ingest trace elements; human urine samples are widely accepted as biometric substrates that can reflect human exposure to trace elements. The current study aimed at investigating the concentrations of trace elements including selenium (Se), arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb), and zinc (Zn) in drinking water and human urine in plateau region of China, determining the association among trace elements in drinking water and urine, and analyzing their associations with age and gender. The results showed that the majority of trace element concentrations were in the range of the World Health Organization (WHO 2011) guideline values, in both urine samples of male and female, and the median values were descending in the order: Zn > Cu > As > Se > Cr > Ni > Mn > Pb > Cd > Co. Selenium contributed to the excretion of As, Cr, Cu, Cd, and Zn in human body, group of 31-40 years appeared to present the greatest excretion ability in most of the trace elements. Weak positive correlations were observed between age and Mn in female urine samples, and negative correlations were observed between age and Se, As, Co, and Cu in male urine samples and between age and Co in female urine samples, respectively. Significant positive correlation was observed in As between drinking water and the whole human urine. In the same family, female seemed to show higher proportions of urinary As levels than male. This study will provide elementary information regarding trace element levels in drinking water and human urine in residents in plateau region of China and is helpful to provide reference for dietary nutrient trace element intake and effective control for local resident.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Evidence-based practice (EBP) implementation plays a crucial role in bridging the knowledge-action gaps and reducing health inequities. Little is known about its development in China. This study aims to provide an overview of the EBP implementation research progress in healthcare in China and identify gaps for future studies. METHODS We conducted a scoping review following the Joanna Briggs Institute scoping review methodology and the Cochrane Collaboration's guidance on living reviews. We performed a literature search in four Chinese databases (i.e., China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wan Fang Database, The VIP Database, and China Biology Medicine) and three English databases (i.e., Ovid MEDLINE, the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, and EMBASE), Google scholar, and Baidu scholar from 1996 to 2021. We included EBP implementation studies conducted in healthcare settings in China and were published in Chinese and English literature. The search will be run on a regular basis to monitor the development of new literature and determine when to update the review. FINDINGS Of the 11,276 records identified, we finally included 309 papers. The publications were on a sharp rise since 2013 and were predominantly from the nursing field (292/309, 94.50%). The commonly researched areas were symptom management (75/309, 24.27%), tube care (46/309, 14.89%), perioperative care (43/309, 13.92%), and fundamental care (43/309, 13.92%). Joanna Briggs Institute model was the most frequently used model to guide the implementation process (92/159, 59.75%). A median number of 8 people often comprised an implementation team, with 113 studies (36.57%) taking a multidisciplinary approach. 204 studies reported utilizing audit criteria to assist evaluation of evidence implementation rate with diversified methods measuring the criteria. Lack of knowledge, skills, and resources, and incomplete procedures or pathways were top barriers impeding EBP implementation. Leadership support was considered the most common facilitator. Education and training were the most frequently described implementation strategies for healthcare professionals and patients. Optimizing workflows and developing evaluation tools were the primary strategies adopted by organizations. 291 studies measured patient outcomes and 174 studies measured healthcare professional outcomes. INTERPRETATION To our knowledge, this scoping review is the first one to systematically examine the EBP implementation research progress in healthcare in China. Based on this review, we identified contributions that Chinese EBP implementation research made to the global community, and provided eight recommendations for Chinese researchers in conducting implementation studies in the future. Abstract
Pollution resulting from toxic trace elements is an increasing concern around the world especially in developing countries such as China. Rapid industrialisation, urbanisation and agricultural development are the dominant sources of anthropogenic contamination contributed to an increased potential toxicity of trace elements in the irrigation water-soil-food chain. Xin Jiang in China is a reserved cultivated land development area that could provide the most extensive strategic support for food production and arable land security in China. Thus, it is crucial to investigate the bioaccumulation and translocation of trace elements in order to assess the ecological and human health risks in the traditional oasis system of the agricultural areas in Bay Cheng County, Xin Jiang. This study analysed the levels of trace elements in different layers of the soil, the irrigation water and the wheat plants, and the relationships among them. The results indicated that cadmium (Cd) and chromium (Cr) were the primary pollutants in soils and wheats respectively, and they fell into the serious pollution category. However, no trace elements over the pollution limits were detected in irrigation water. The maximum values of trace elements appeared in the soil layers at 5-10 cm and 10-15 cm. The pollution levels of trace elements in the soil layers were found at 0-5 cm and 0-20 cm, which were higher than those at 20-80 cm. In wheat, high amounts of absorption for Se, Cr, Zn and Cu, but low for Pb were detected in different parts of a plant. The roots of wheats were more eco-toxic to Cd, Co and Pb than other tissues, indicating that roots were more effective at absorbing Cd, Co and Pb, as these metals are usually toxic in the soil. Se, Cu and Zn showed a higher ability of being transferred from soils to the edible parts of crops. The bio-transfer factors of Zn, Mo, Cu, Mg and Mn were considerably higher than those of other elements. The average cancer risk of As, Cd, Co, Ni and TCR in wheat grains exceeded the safety reference limit (1 × 10-4). For the exposed population, Cr in wheat was the major contributor to total cancer risk. The average values of HQ of Cr, Mn and As, and total non-cancer risk index exceeded the corresponding effective safe reference doses (HQ > 1).

Abstract
Middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) injury refers to impaired blood supply to the brain that is caused by a cerebrovascular disease, resulting in local brain tissue ischemia, hypoxic necrosis, and rapid neurological impairment. Nevertheless, the mechanisms involved are unclear, and pharmacological interventions are lacking. 25-Hydroxycholesterol (25-HC) was reported to be involved in cholesterol and lipid metabolism as an oxysterol molecule. This study aimed to determine whether 25-HC exerts a cerebral protective effect on MCAO injury and investigate its potential mechanism. 25-HC was administered prior to reperfusion in a mouse model of MCAO injury. 25-HC evidently decreased infarct size induced by MCAO and enhanced brain function. It reduced stimulator of interferon gene (STING) activity and regulated mTOR to inhibit autophagy and induce cerebral ischemia tolerance. Thus, 25-HC improved MCAO injury through the STING channel. As indicated in this preliminary study, 25-HC improved MCAO injury by inhibiting STING activity and autophagy as well as by reducing brain nerve cell apoptosis. Thus, it is a potential treatment drug for brain injury.

Abstract
Objective: To determine the prevalence, epidemiological characteristics, and related factors of syphilis infection among rural childbearing age people to promote medical interventions on pre-pregnancy aristogenesis and syphilis infection in Yunnan province. Methods: The subjects in this study were 18-49-year-old rural couples of childbearing age from the National Free Preconception Health Examination Project in Yunnan province during 2013-2017. The descriptive study was carried out to determine the positive rate of Treponema pallidum specific antibody (TPsAb) and related sociodemographic characteristics. Results: The overall positive rate of TPsAb was 0.38% (8 204/2 160 455) in 2 160 455 rural childbearing age people in Yunnan. The positive rate of TPsAb was 0.39% (4 019/1 040 981) in men,higher than that in women (0.37%,4 185/1 119 474). The positive rate of TPsAb was highest in the age group 45-49 years (0.70%,158/22 511). The positive rate of TP antibody in the minority ethnic groups and Han ethnic groups appeared the same (0.38%). However,the highest positive rate of TPsAb was 0.77% (461/60 153) in Hani ethnic group among all the 17 minority ethnic groups. People with education level of primary education had the highest anti-TP positive rate (0.54%,2 327/431 275). The positive rate of TPsAb appeared the highest in Zhaotong (0.73%, 2 049/281 614) area among all the 16 prefectures of the province. The positive rate of TPsAb in the population from the impoverished regions (0.50%,2 963/590 039) was higher than in other disadvantaged areas (0.34%, 3 115/929 368) or areas with average income (0.33%,2 126/641 048). Significant differences appeared in the positive rate of TPsAb among populations of different ages, ethnic, education level, and economic level groups (trend χ2 test, P<0.001). Conclusions: The positive rate of TP antibody in rural childbearing age people in Yunnan was related to multi factors,including sex,age,ethnic group,education level,area, residence, and local economic situation. The positive rate of TPsAb was higher in men than in women. And people with elder age, lower education level, being Hani or Lahu ethnic group, and Zhaotong areas had higher TPsAb positive rates and higher syphilis infection risk.

Abstract
Background Kashin-Beck disease (KBD) is one of the major endemic diseases in China, which severely impacts the physical health and life quality of people. A better understanding of the spatial distribution of the health loss from KBD and its influencing factors will help to identify areas and populations at high risk so as to plan for targeted interventions. Methods The data of patients with KBD at village-level were collected to estimate and analyze the spatial pattern of health loss from KBD in Bin County, Shaanxi Province. The years lived with disability (YLDs) index was applied as a measure of health loss from KBD. Spatial autocorrelation methodologies, including Global Moran’s I and Local Moran’s I, were used to describe and map spatial clusters of the health loss. In addition, basic individual information and environmental samples were collected to explore natural and social determinants of the health loss from KBD. Results The estimation of YLDs showed that patients with KBD of grade II and patients over 50 years old contributed most to the health loss of KBD in Bin County. No significant difference was observed between two genders. The spatial patterns of YLDs and YLD rate of KBD were clustered significantly at both global and local scales. Villages in the southwestern and eastern regions revealed higher health loss, while those in the northern regions exhibited lower health loss. This clustering was found to be significantly related to organically bound Se in soil and poverty rate of KBD patients. Conclusions Our results suggest that future treatment and prevention of KBD should focus on endemic areas with high organically bound Se in soil and poor economic conditions. The findings can also provide important information for further exploration of the etiology of KBD. Abstract
Inertial confinement fusion seeks to create burning plasma conditions in a spherical capsule implosion, which requires efficiently absorbing the driver energy in the capsule, transferring that energy into kinetic energy of the imploding DT fuel and then into internal energy of the fuel at stagnation. We report new implosions conducted on the National Ignition Facility (NIF) with several improvements on recent work [Phys. Rev. Lett. 120, 245003 (2018)PRLTAO0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.120.245003; Phys. Rev. Abstract
Inertial confinement fusion implosions must achieve high in-flight shell velocity, sufficient energy coupling between the hot spot and imploding shell, and high areal density (ρR=∫ρdr) at stagnation. Asymmetries in ρR degrade the coupling of shell kinetic energy to the hot spot and reduce the confinement of that energy. We present the first evidence that nonuniformity in the ablator shell thickness (∼0.5% of the total thickness) in high-density carbon experiments is a significant cause for observed 3D ρR asymmetries at the National Ignition Facility. These shell-thickness nonuniformities have significantly impacted some recent experiments leading to ρR asymmetries on the order of ∼25% of the average ρR and hot spot velocities of ∼100 km/s. This work reveals the origin of a significant implosion performance degradation in ignition experiments and places stringent new requirements on capsule thickness metrology and symmetry.

Abstract
China is recognized as a selenium-deficient country, and nutritional selenium intake has always been a concern. To clarify the current inhabitants’ selenium nutrition status and the characteristics of dietary consumption in low-selenium areas, samples of human hair and grains were collected, and food frequency questionnaires were administered in Binxian County, Shaanxi Province, a typical low-selenium area in the Loess Plateau. The subject number of the study is 85, and the age range is from 11 to 81 years, with an average of 60. The results showed that the average hair selenium content of the residents was 231.7 μg/kg, and 62.4% of the participants had levels higher than the selenium deficiency threshold (200 μg/kg). There was a significant positive correlation between the hair selenium content and the food consumption score after adjusting for rice outsourcing. Three different dietary patterns were noted according to hierarchical cluster analysis. This study provides a tool for assessing the selenium nutrition of inhabitants in low-selenium areas and has considerable significance for improving the dietary pattern of residents.

Abstract
Water quality improvement is the most efficient way to prevent arsenic exposure. After the cessation of arsenic ingestion, arsenic methylation capacity of the exposed population can change significantly. The factors associated with these changes remain poorly understood. Therefore, arsenic methylation capacity in a study cohort was estimated before and after water quality improvement in the present study. Results indicated that urinary content of the arsenic species in the study cohort significantly decreased after water quality improvement. In addition, the proportions of inorganic arsenic (%iAs) and monomethyl arsenic acid (%MMA) were significantly decreased, while proportions of dimethyl arsenic (%DMA) increased. The primary methylation index (PMI) and secondary methylation index (SMI) increased from 0.85 to 0.92 and 0.82 to 0.84, respectively. Arsenic species urinary content and arsenic methylation index varied slightly between the study cohort after water quality improvement and the control cohort. The rate of increase in PMI was higher than that in SMI. The study group aged 31-50 years had the highest increase in PMI. Logistic regression revealed that %DMA before water quality improvement was negatively associated with the increase in PMI, while %iAs were positively related, and %MMA were positively associated with the increase in SMI. It is concluded that urinary arsenic species content and arsenic methylation capacity increased to the levels of the control cohort after water quality improvement. An increase in primary arsenic methylation capacity may be a burden on the secondary arsenic methylation capacity. The main role of arsenic methylation capacity recovery may be the cessation of arsenic exposure.

Abstract
Objective: To establish the mice colorectal cancer (CRC) model induced by AOM/DSS with the intervention of high fat diet and probiotics, and to explore the potential mechanism of probiotics intervention in regulating intestinal flora disturbance and antitumor efficiency. Methods: Forty 8-week-old male C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into 4 groups with 10 mice in each group: HFD group, HDF with probiotics intervention (HFD+P) group, normal diet (ND) group, normal diet with probiotics intervention (ND+P) group. The probiotic groups were administered with probiotics preparation by gavage. During the experiment, AOM/DSS was used to induce mouse colorectal cancer model. The mouse body weight was regularly recorded and the body status was evaluated weekly. High-throughput 16S rDNA sequencing was used to analyze the changes of fecal flora in bacterial structure before and after cancer induction. At the end of the experiment, intestinal tissues of mice were collected and the epididymis adipose mass (EAM) and tumor burden were recorded. The Alpha diversity index was used to analyze the abundance and diversity of the intestinal flora (higher chaol index means higher abundance of bacteria and greater Simpson index means lower diversity in flora structure). The Beta diversity index was used to analyze the significance of the difference in the distribution of intestinal flora among the four groups (When R>0, the difference in the distribution of bacteria among the groups is greater than the difference within the group). Results: After 15 weeks of experiment, the body weight of mice in HFD group, HFD+P group, ND group and ND+P group was (33.70±0.52) g, (28.70±0.32) g, (25.90±0.34) g and (25.60±0.40) g, whose difference was statistically significant (F=700.89, P<0.01). The body weight of HFD group was higher than that of ND group and HFD+P group while the body weight of HFD+P group was still higher than that of ND group, and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0.017). The average EAM of HFD group, HFD+P group, ND group and ND+P group was (1.36±0.15) g, (0.67±0.08) g, (0.58±0.10) g and (0.54±0.05) g, whose difference was statistically significant (F=114.03, P<0.01). Pairwise comparisons showed that EAM in HFD group was higher than that in ND group and HFD+P group respectively, with statistically significant difference (both P<0.01), while average EAM of HFD+P group was similar to ND group (P=0.09). Under the diet intervention, the Chao1 index of HFD group, HFD+P group, ND group and ND+P group was 217.62, 235.32, 301.51 and 305.71 respectively, and the Simpson index was 0.93, 0.89, 0.91 and 0.90. At the same time, the Anosim analysis of Beta diversity analysis showed that the difference in the flora distribution among four groups was greater than the difference with in each group with statistically significant difference (R=0.655, P=0.001). Species abundance analysis revealed that, compared with ND group, at phylum level, HFD group had a higher proportion of Bacteroides phylum and Firmicutes phylum in the intestinal flora and lower proportion of Verrucomicrobia; at genus level, the proportion of Bacteroides and Oscillibacter in HFD group was higher while the proportion of Akkermansia and Alloprevotella was lower. After the intervention of probiotics, the flora mentioned above was improved significantly except for Alloprevotella. The average number of tumor in HFD group, HFD+P group, ND group and ND+P group was 4.63±1.19, 2.33±0.52, 2.56±0.73 and 2.38±0.52 with statistically significant difference (F=14.92, P<0.01). Conclusion: Probiotics therapy can reduce obesity and flora imbalance caused by HFD and reduce the incidence of CRC by regulating intestinal flora disturbance.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to determine the impact of preoperative exposure to intravenous contrast for CT and the risk of developing postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients undergoing major gastrointestinal surgery. METHODS This prospective, multicentre cohort study included adults undergoing gastrointestinal resection, stoma reversal or liver resection. Both elective and emergency procedures were included. Preoperative exposure to intravenous contrast was defined as exposure to contrast administered for the purposes of CT up to 7 days before surgery. The primary endpoint was the rate of AKI within 7 days. Propensity score-matched models were adjusted for patient, disease and operative variables. In a sensitivity analysis, a propensity score-matched model explored the association between preoperative exposure to contrast and AKI in the first 48 h after surgery. RESULTS A total of 5378 patients were included across 173 centres. Overall, 1249 patients (23·2 per cent) received intravenous contrast. The overall rate of AKI within 7 days of surgery was 13·4 per cent (718 of 5378). In the propensity score-matched model, preoperative exposure to contrast was not associated with AKI within 7 days (odds ratio (OR) 0·95, 95 per cent c.i. 0·73 to 1·21; P = 0·669). The sensitivity analysis showed no association between preoperative contrast administration and AKI within 48 h after operation (OR 1·09, 0·84 to 1·41; P = 0·498). CONCLUSION There was no association between preoperative intravenous contrast administered for CT up to 7 days before surgery and postoperative AKI. Risk of contrast-induced nephropathy should not be used as a reason to avoid contrast-enhanced CT.

Abstract
Background Although N6-methyladenosine (m6A) plays a very important role in different biological processes, its function in the brain has not been fully explored. Thus, we investigated the roles of the RNA demethylases Alkbh5/Fto in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. Methods We used a rat model and primary neuronal cell culture to study the role of m6A and Alkbh5/Fto in the cerebral cortex ischemic penumbra after cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. We used Alkbh5-shRNA and Lv-Fto (in vitro) to regulate the expression of Alkbh5/Fto to study their regulation of m6A in the cerebral cortex and to study brain function after ischemia-reperfusion injury. Results We found that RNA m6A levels increased consecutive to the increase of Alkbh5 expression in both the cerebral cortex of rats after middle cerebral artery occlusion, and in primary neurons after oxygen deprivation/reoxygenation. In contrast, Fto expression decreased after these perturbations. Our results suggest that knocking down Alkbh5 can aggravate neuronal damage. This is due to the demethylation of Alkbh5 and Fto, which selectively demethylate the Bcl2 transcript, preventing Bcl2 transcript degradation and enhancing Bcl2 protein expression. Conclusion Collectively, our results demonstrate that the demethylases Alkbh5/Fto co-regulate m6A demethylation, which plays a crucial role in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. Abstract
Gamma rays in nuclear reactors, arising either from fission or decay processes, significantly contribute to the heating and dose of the reactor components. Zero power research reactors offer the possibility to measure gamma rays in a purely neutronic environment, allowing for validation experiments of computed spectra, dose estimates, reactor noise and prompt to delayed gamma ratios. This data then contributes to models, code validation and photo atomic nuclear data evaluation. In order to contribute to aforementioned experimental data, gamma detection capabilities are being added to the CROCUS reactor facility. The CROCUS reactor is a two-zone, uranium-fueled light water moderated facility operated by the Laboratory for Reactor Physics and Systems Behaviour (LRS) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL). With a maximum power of 100W, it is a zero power reactor used for teaching and research, most recently for intrinsic and induced neutron noise studies. For future gamma detection applications in the CROCUS reactor, an array of four detectors - two large 5”x10” Bismuth Germanate (BGO) and two smaller Cerium Bromide (CeBr3) scintillators - was acquired. The BGO detectors are to be arbitrarily positioned in the core reflector and out of the vessel for measurements at arbitrary distances. The CeBr3 detectors on the other hand are small enough to be set in the guide tubes of the control rods for in-core measurements. We present a study of the neutron and gamma flux in the core and reflector using the MCNP 6.2 and Serpent 2 Monte Carlo codes for coupled neutron and photon transport criticality calculations. More specifically, we investigate and compare predicted spectra as well as reactivity worth of different envisioned experimental setups. We further predict pulse height spectra as well as doses to the crystals with and without cadmium shielding to estimate allowable reactor powers with respect to detector radiation hardness. The results serve as basis for calibration and aid in the design and regulatory approval of the experiments.

Abstract
With the widespread use of pesticides, the resistance to pesticides of pests has gradually increased, caused mixed pesticides to become even more widely used for practical applications. To investigate the effects of mixed pesticides on reproductive health in an occupational greenhouse environment, the greenhouse environment and the characteristics of the actual application were constructed, and then the male mice were comprehensively exposed to a mixture of the beta-cypermethrin and emamectin benzoate environmental. Additionally, the effect of the beta-cypermethrin and emamectin benzoate mixture on the reproductive health of male mice was known. The results showed that with the prolongation of exposure duration, the activities of Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH-Px), Total Superoxide Dismutase (T-SOD), Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and Acid phosphatase (ACP) in the testes of mice gradually decreased and the activity of Malondialdehyde (MDA) gradually increased. It was also found that the apoptosis rate of murine testicular cells increased and that DNA damage occurred with prolonged exposure duration. Therefore, it can be inferred that exposure to a mixture of the pesticides beta-cypermethrin and emamectin benzoate in the greenhouse environment may have adverse effects on the reproductive health of male mice.

Abstract
A plethora of evidence suggests that protein misfolding and aggregation are underlying mechanisms of various neurodegenerative diseases, such as prion diseases and Alzheimer's disease (AD). Like prion diseases, AD has been considered as an infectious disease in the past decades as it shows strain specificity and transmission potential. Although it remains elusive how protein aggregation leads to AD, it is becoming clear that cellular prion protein (PrPC) plays an important role in AD pathogenesis. Here, we briefly reviewed AD pathogenesis and focused on recent progresses how PrPC contributed to AD development. In addition, we proposed a potential mechanism to explain why infectious agents, such as viruses, conduce AD pathogenesis. Microbe infections cause Aβ deposition and upregulation of PrPC, which lead to high affinity binding between Aβ oligomers and PrPC. The interaction between PrPC and Aβ oligomers in turn activates the Fyn signaling cascade, resulting in neuron death in the central nervous system (CNS). Thus, silencing PrPC expression may turn out be an effective treatment for PrPC dependent AD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patient selection for critical care admission must balance patient safety with optimal resource allocation. This study aimed to determine the relationship between critical care admission, and postoperative mortality after abdominal surgery. METHODS This prespecified secondary analysis of a multicentre, prospective, observational study included consecutive patients enrolled in the DISCOVER study from UK and Republic of Ireland undergoing major gastrointestinal and liver surgery between October and December 2014. The primary outcome was 30-day mortality. Multivariate logistic regression was used to explore associations between critical care admission (planned and unplanned) and mortality, and inter-centre variation in critical care admission after emergency laparotomy. RESULTS Of 4529 patients included, 37.8% (n=1713) underwent planned critical care admissions from theatre. Some 3.1% (n=86/2816) admitted to ward-level care subsequently underwent unplanned critical care admission. Overall 30-day mortality was 2.9% (n=133/4519), and the risk-adjusted association between 30-day mortality and critical care admission was higher in unplanned [odds ratio (OR): 8.65, 95% confidence interval (CI): 3.51-19.97) than planned admissions (OR: 2.32, 95% CI: 1.43-3.85). Some 26.7% of patients (n=1210/4529) underwent emergency laparotomies. After adjustment, 49.3% (95% CI: 46.8-51.9%, P<0.001) were predicted to have planned critical care admissions, with 7% (n=10/145) of centres outside the 95% CI. CONCLUSIONS After risk adjustment, no 30-day survival benefit was identified for either planned or unplanned postoperative admissions to critical care within this cohort. This likely represents appropriate admission of the highest-risk patients. Planned admissions in selected, intermediate-risk patients may present a strategy to mitigate the risk of unplanned admission. Substantial inter-centre variation exists in planned critical care admissions after emergency laparotomies.
