Abstract
OBJECTIVES Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and neoplasms have been considered as public health concerns worldwide. This study aimed to estimate the epidemiological patterns of death burden on CVDs and neoplasms and its attributable risk factors in Western Europe from 1990 to 2019 to discuss the potential causes of the disparities. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS We collected data on CVDs and neoplasms deaths in 24 Western European countries from the Global Burden of Disease Study. We analyzed patterns by age, sex, country, and associated risk factors. The results include percentages of total deaths, age-standardized death rates per 100,000 population, and uncertainty intervals (UIs). Time trends were assessed using annual percent change. RESULTS In 2019, CVDs and neoplasms accounted for 33.54% and 30.15% of Western Europe's total deaths, with age-standardized death rates of 128.05 (95% UI: 135.37, 113.02) and 137.51 (95% UI: 142.54, 128.01) per 100,000. Over 1990-2019, CVDs rates decreased by 54.97%, and neoplasms rates decreased by 19.54%. Top CVDs subtypes were ischemic heart disease and stroke; top cancers for neoplasms were lung and colorectal. Highest CVD death burdens were in Finland, Greece, Austria; neoplasm burdens in Monaco, San Marino, Andorra. The major risk factors were metabolic (CVDs) and behavioral (neoplasms). Gender differences revealed higher CVDs death burden in males, while neoplasms burden varied by risk factors and age groups. CONCLUSION In 2019, CVDs and neoplasms posed significant health risks in Western Europe, with variations in death burdens and risk factors across genders, age groups, and countries. Future interventions should target vulnerable groups to lessen the impact of CVDs and neoplasms in the region.

Abstract
Three new distinct NIR α,α-NH-bridged BODIPY dimers were prepared by a direct nucleophilic substitution reaction. The synergistic effects of the nitrogen bridges and strong excitonic coupling between each BODIPY unit play major roles in enhancing the delocalization of an electron spin over the entire BODIPY dimers. The in situ formed aminyl radical dimer showed an absorption maximum at 1040 nm.

Abstract
Objective: To examine the efficacy and experience of staged and segmented two hybrid surgeries for total repair of Debakey type Ⅰ aortic dissection (TIAD). Methods: This study was a retrospective case series. The clinic data of 10 patients with acute TIAD who were admitted to the Department of Cardiac Surgery, Second Hospital of Lanzhou University or the First People's Hospital of Lanzhou, between January 2016 and August 2022, were retrospectively studied. Ten patients underwent hybrid surgeries in two hospitalizations (stages), including 7 males and 3 females with an age of (60±7) years (range: 49 to 71 years). In stage 1, the first type Ⅱ hybrid arch repair was performed to treat the ascending, total arch, and descending thoracic aorta for acute TIAD without circulatory arrest. In stage 2, the second hybrid surgery including infrarenal abdominal aorta replacement, visceral arteries bypass and endovascular thoracoabdominal aortic repair was performed to treat residual thoracoabdominal aortic dissection after the first hybrid operation (segmented). Basic data, preoperative concomitant diseases, high-risk factors, surgical approaches and postoperative complications of all important organs, as well as CT imaging were analyzed. Results: There was no death in the 20 hybrid surgical procedures. In stage 1 type Ⅱ hybrid surgery, 4 cases underwent reconstruction of the aortic sinutubular junction, while Bentall and David surgery was performed for 3 cases, respectively. A patient received coronary artery bypass grafting. Then all patients were sequentially treated with arch debranching and thoracic aortic endovascular repair. Postoperative complications included renal insufficiency (4/10), hemofiltration (1/10), hypoxemia (4/10), neurologic event (1/10) and type Ⅱ endoleak (1/10). Complete false lumen thrombosis occurred in 9/10 of the patients. All complications recovered successfully at discharge and the average hospital stay was (21±4) days (range: 16 to 28 days) in the first hospitalization. At stage 2, the second hybrid surgery was successfully performed in all patients. No paraplegia, hepatic or renal insufficiency, or endoleak occurred. However, branch graft embolism of the left renal artery was found in one patient 3 days after laparotomy, as well as of superior mesenteric artery in another. Superior mesenteric artery occlusion was successfully treated by endovascular recanalization. Complete false lumen thrombosis occurred in all patients. Although all patients had different degrees of intestinal dysfunction, they were gradually relieved at discharge, and the average hospital stay was (19±2)days (range:16 to 21 days) in the second hospitalization. During follow-up, CT angiography showed aortic remodeling in all patients. Conclusion: Staged and segmented two hybrid surgeries are safe and feasible for total repair of Debakey type Ⅰ aortic dissection and are associated with acceptable early and midterm outcomes.

Study of association between corneal shape parameters and axial length elongation during orthokeratology using image-pro plus software. BMC Ophthalmol 2024; 24:163. [PMID: 38609888 PMCID: PMC11010382 DOI: 10.1186/s12886-024-03398-6] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Grants] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 03/01/2023] [Accepted: 03/14/2024] [Indexed: 04/14/2024] Open
Abstract
BACKGROUND The aim was to validate the correlation between corneal shape parameters and axial length growth (ALG) during orthokeratology using Image-Pro Plus (IPP) 6.0 software. METHODS This retrospective study used medical records of myopic children aged 8-13 years (n = 104) undergoing orthokeratology. Their corneal topography and axial length were measured at baseline and subsequent follow-ups after lens wear. Corneal shape parameters, including the treatment zone (TZ) area, TZ diameter, TZ fractal dimension, TZ radius ratio, eccentric distance, pupil area, and pupillary peripheral steepened zone(PSZ) area, were measured using IPP software. The impact of corneal shape parameters at 3 months post-orthokeratology visit on 1.5-year ALG was evaluated using multivariate linear regression analysis. RESULTS ALG exhibited significant associations with age, TZ area, TZ diameter, TZ fractal dimension, and eccentric distance on univariate linear regression analysis. Multivariate regression analysis identified age, TZ area, and eccentric distance as significantly correlated with ALG (all P < 0.01), with eccentric distance showing the strongest correlation (β = -0.370). The regressive equation was y = 1.870 - 0.235a + 0.276b - 0.370c, where y represents ALG, a represents age, b represents TZ area, and c represents eccentric distance; R2 = 0.27). No significant relationships were observed between the TZ radius ratio, pupillary PSZ area, and ALG. CONCLUSIONS IPP software proves effective in capturing precise corneal shape parameters after orthokeratology. Eccentric distance, rather than age or the TZ area, significantly influences ALG retardation.

UiO-66/AgNPs Coating for Dental Implants in Preventing Bacterial Infections. J Dent Res 2024:220345241229646. Abstract
Titanium (Ti)-based biomaterials lack inherent antimicrobial activities, and the dental plaque formed on the implant surface is one of the main risk factors for implant infections. Construction of an antibacterial surface can effectively prevent implant infections and enhance implant success. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) exhibit broad antibacterial activity and a low tendency to induce drug resistance, but AgNPs easily self-aggregate in the aqueous environment, which significantly impairs their antibacterial activity. In this study, UiO-66/AgNP (U/A) nanocomposite was prepared, where zirconium metal-organic frameworks (UiO-66) were employed as the confinement matrix to control the particle size and prevent aggregation of AgNPs. The bactericidal activity of U/A against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli increased nearly 75.51 and 484.50 times compared with individually synthesized Ag. The antibacterial mechanism can be attributed to the enhanced membrane rupture caused by the ultrafine AgNPs on UiO-66, leading to protein leakage and generation of intracellular reactive oxygen species. Then, U/A was loaded onto Ti substrates (Ti-U/A) by using self-assembly deposition methods to construct an antibacterial surface coating. Ti-U/A exhibited excellent antibacterial activities and desired biocompatibility both in vitro and in vivo. The U/A nanocomposite coating technique is thus expected to be used as a promising surface modification strategy for Ti-based dental implants for preventing dental implant infections.

Abstract
Heavy-atom-free photosensitizers are potentially suitable for use in photodynamic therapy (PDT). In this contribution, a new family of unsymmetrical benzothieno-fused BODIPYs with reactive oxygen efficiency up to 50% in air-saturated toluene was reported. Their efficient intersystem crossing (ISC) resulted in the generation of both 1O2 and O2-• under irradiation. More importantly, the PDT efficacy of a respective 4-methoxystyryl-modified benzothieno-fused BODIPY in living cells exhibited an extremely high phototoxicity with an ultralow IC50 value of 2.78 nM. The results revealed that the incorporation of an electron-donating group at the α-position of the unsymmetrical benzothieno-fused BODIPY platform might be an effective approach for developing long-wavelength absorbing heavy-atom-free photosensitizers for precision cancer therapy.

Abstract
The performance of nano-zero-valent iron for heavy metal remediation can be enhanced via incorporation into bimetallic carbon composites. However, few economical and green approaches are available for preparing bimetallic composite materials. In this study, novel Co/Fe bimetallic biochar composites (BC@Co/Fe-X, where X = 5 or 10 represents the CoCl2 concentration of 0.05 or 0.1 mol L-1) were prepared for the adsorption of Pb2+. The effect of the concentration of cross-linked metal ions on Pb2+ adsorption was investigated, with the composite prepared using 0.05 mol L-1 Co2+ (BC@Co/Fe-5) exhibiting the highest adsorption performance. Various factors, including the adsorption period, Pb2+ concentration, and pH, affected the adsorption of Pb2+ by BC@Co/Fe-5. Further characterisation of BC@Co/Fe-5 before and after Pb2+ adsorption using methods such as X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy suggested that the Pb2+ adsorption mechanism involved (i) Pb2+ reduction to Pb0 by Co/Fe, (ii) Co/Fe corrosion to generate Fe2+ and fix Pb2+ in the form of PbO, and (iii) Pb2+ adsorption by Co/Fe biochar. Notably, BC@Co/Fe-5 exhibited excellent remediation performance in simulated Pb2+-contaminated water and soil with good recyclability.

Study of High-Transverse-Momentum Higgs Boson Production in Association with a Vector Boson in the qqbb Final State with the ATLAS Detector. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:131802. Abstract
This Letter presents the first study of Higgs boson production in association with a vector boson (V=W or Z) in the fully hadronic qqbb final state using data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb^{-1}. The vector bosons and Higgs bosons are each reconstructed as large-radius jets and tagged using jet substructure techniques. Dedicated tagging algorithms exploiting b-tagging properties are used to identify jets consistent with Higgs bosons decaying into bb[over ¯]. Dominant backgrounds from multijet production are determined directly from the data, and a likelihood fit to the jet mass distribution of Higgs boson candidates is used to extract the number of signal events. The VH production cross section is measured inclusively and differentially in several ranges of Higgs boson transverse momentum: 250-450, 450-650, and greater than 650 GeV. The inclusive signal yield relative to the standard model expectation is observed to be μ=1.4_{-0.9}^{+1.0} and the corresponding cross section is 3.1±1.3(stat)_{-1.4}^{+1.8}(syst) pb.

Abstract
A series of solid-state emissive meso-aryl/alkyl-substituted and heteroatom-mixed bisBF2-anchoring fluorophore incorporating pyrrolyl-pyridylhydrazone (BOPPY) dyes have been developed by a one-pot condensation of ketonized or formylated pyrroles and 2-heterocyclohydrazine as well as the subsequent borylation coordination. Interestingly, the BOPPY dyes with meso-alkyl-substituted groups or oxygen-substituted pyridine moieties exhibit high fluorescence quantum yields (QYs) of up to 79%, the highest solid QY of 74%, and long lifetimes independent of polarity in the available BOPPYs. On the other hand, the BOPPYs with meso-aryl or N-substituted moieties display a high solution QY of up to 93% and slight emission wavelength maxima. However, the S-substituted BOPPY dye exhibited weak fluorescence in all studied solvents, which was attributed to the structural flexibility of the N-C-S bond and different from those BOPPYs with O or N substitution, indicated by quantum calculations. And the significant excited-state structural rearrangement in a polar solvent is further confirmed by femtosecond time-resolved transient absorption spectroscopy. More importantly, those novel and barely fluorescent BOPPYs in acetonitrile show advantageous aggregation-induced enhanced emission and viscosity-dependent activities. These advancements in the photophysical and electrochemical properties of BOPPY dyes offer valuable insights into their further development and potential applications.

Measurement of the Centrality Dependence of the Dijet Yield in p+Pb Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16 TeV with the ATLAS Detector. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:102301. Abstract
ATLAS measured the centrality dependence of the dijet yield using 165 nb^{-1} of p+Pb data collected at sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16 TeV in 2016. The event centrality, which reflects the p+Pb impact parameter, is characterized by the total transverse energy registered in the Pb-going side of the forward calorimeter. The central-to-peripheral ratio of the scaled dijet yields, R_{CP}, is evaluated, and the results are presented as a function of variables that reflect the kinematics of the initial hard parton scattering process. The R_{CP} shows a scaling with the Bjorken x of the parton originating from the proton, x_{p}, while no such trend is observed as a function of x_{Pb}. This analysis provides unique input to understanding the role of small proton spatial configurations in p+Pb collisions by covering parton momentum fractions from the valence region down to x_{p}∼10^{-3} and x_{Pb}∼4×10^{-4}.

Abstract
Background: Acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) is a cardiovascular emergency and has high mortality and morbidity. We retrospectively compared the effects on outcomes of single arterial cannulation via axillary artery (AAC) with double arterial cannulation via axillary and femoral artery (DAC) in patients who underwent cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) for ATAAD.Methods: Between January 2017 and May 2021, four hundred 29 patients who underwent aortic arch repair with circulatory arrest for ATAAD were divided into AAC group (n = 283) and DAC group (n = 146). The propensity score-matched (PSM) analysis were performed to compare the characteristics and outcomes of the groups. Results: After PSM (n = 137 in each), the DAC group had a longer duration of CPB (229 vs 244, p = 0.011), aortic cross-clamp time (121 vs 149, p < 0.001), durations of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) stay (7 vs 8, p = 0.014) and hospital stay (19 vs 25, p < 0.001) compared with AAC group. The incidences of dialysis (21% vs. 31%, p = 0.073), postoperative stroke (9% vs 15%, p = 0.143), ECMO support (2% vs 7%, p = 0.077), in-hospital mortality (7% vs 14%, p = 0.071) and follow-up mortality (10% vs 19%, p = 0.059) showed no significant difference between two groups. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed postoperative ECMO (OR: 16.69, 95% CI: 1.78-156.29; p = 0.014) or stroke (OR: 11.34, 95% CI: 2.64-48.72; p < 0.001) were associated with in-hospital mortality. Univariate Cox regression results showed stroke history (OR: 4.61, 95% CI: 1.90-11.16; p = 0.001), aortic valvuloplasty (OR: 0.21, 95% CI: 0.07-0.59; p = 0.003), postoperative ALT day1 (OR: 1.00, 95% CI: 1.00-1.00; p = 0.008), ECMO (OR: 16.30, 95% CI: 4.78-55.61; p < 0.001), tracheotomy (OR: 3.78, 95% CI: 1.08-13.20; p = 0.037), postoperative stroke (OR: 4.61, 95% CI: 1.90-11.16; p < 0.001) and re-exploration for bleeding (OR: 3.52, 95% CI: 1.01-12.27; p = 0.048) were associated to follow-up mortality. Conclusions: For surgical treatment of ATAAD with CPB when compared to double axillary and femoral artery, single axillary cannulation was associated with shorter durations of CPB and ACC as well as ICU and hospital stays but no with significant difference in mortality.

Abstract
A series of novel N,N-carbonyl-bridged dipyrrinone fluorophores have been directly constructed from α-halogenated dipyrrinones, which are conveniently obtained from the acid-catalyzed hydrolysis of readily available α,α'-dihalodipyrrins. This novel methodology affords efficient modulation of the functional groups at both the meso- and α-positions of this fluorophore. These resultant dyes show tunable absorption and emission wavelengths, good molar absorption coefficients, relatively large Stokes shifts, and excellent fluorescence quantum yields up to 0.99, and have been successfully applied in both one- and two-photon fluorescence microscopy imaging in living cells.

Abstract
PURPOSE Diabetes and dyslipidemia are among the most common chronic diseases with increasing global disease burdens, and they frequently occur together. The study aimed to investigate differences in the heritability of glycemic traits and serum lipid indicators and differences in overlapping genetic and environmental influences between them across age groups. METHODS This study included 1189 twin pairs from the Chinese National Twin Registry and divided them into three groups: aged ≤ 40, 41-50, and > 50 years old. Univariate and bivariate structural equation models (SEMs) were conducted on glycemic indicators and serum lipid indicators, including blood glucose (GLU), glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), in the total sample and three age groups. RESULTS All phenotypes showed moderate to high heritability (0.37-0.64). The heritability of HbA1c demonstrated a downward trend with age (HbA1c: 0.50-0.79), while others remained relatively stable (GLU: 0.55-0.62, TC: 0.58-0.66, TG: 0.50-0.63, LDL-C: 0.24-0.58, HDL-C: 0.31-0.57). The bivariate SEMs demonstrated that GLU and HbA1c were correlated with each serum lipid indicator (0.10-0.17), except HDL-C. Except for HbA1c and LDL-C, as well as HbA1c and HDL-C, differences in genetic correlations underlying glycemic traits and serum lipids between age groups were observed, with the youngest group showing a significantly higher genetic correlation than the oldest group. CONCLUSION Across the whole adulthood, genetic influences were consistently important for GLU, TC, TG, LDL-C and HDL-C, and age may affect the shared genetic influences between glycemic traits and serum lipids. Further studies are needed to elucidate the role of age in the interactions of genes related to glycemic traits and serum lipids.

Abstract
An efficient synthesis of 3-pyrrolylBODIPY dyes has been developed from a rational mixture of various aromatic aldehydes and pyrrole in a straightforward condensation reaction, followed by in situ successively oxidative nucleophilic substitution using a one-pot strategy. These resultant 3-pyrrolylBODIPYs without blocking substituents not only exhibit the finely tunable photophysical properties induced by the flexible meso-aryl substituents but also serve as a valuable synthetic framework for further selective functionalization. As a proof of such potential, one 3-pyrrolylBODIPY dye (581/603 nm) through the installation of the morpholine group is applicable for lysosome-targeting imaging. Furthermore, an ethene-bridged 3,3'-dipyrrolylBODIPY dimer was constructed, which displayed a near-infrared (NIR) emission extended to 1200 nm with a large fluorescence brightness (2840 M-1 cm-1). The corresponding dimer nanoparticles (NPs) afforded a high photothermal conversion efficiency (PCE) value of 72.5%, eventually resulting in favorable photocytotoxicity (IC50 = 9.4 μM) and efficient in vitro eradication of HeLa cells under 808 nm laser irradiation, highlighting their potential application for photothermal therapy in the NIR window.

Abstract
To evaluate the implementation of Survey of oncomelanid snails (WS/T 563-2017) in schistosomiasis-endemic foci, two schistosomiasis-endemic counties were selected from two provinces of Sichuan and Anhui. Professional staff working in province-, city-, county- and township-level disease control and prevention institutions, parasitic disease control institutions or medical institutions were recruited, and the understanding, use and implementation of Survey of oncomelanid snails (WS/T 563-2017) were investigated using questionnaires and interviews. The awareness, use, proportion of propagation and implementation and correct rate of answering questions pertaining to Survey of oncomelanid snails (WS/T 563-2017) were analyzed. A total of 270 questionnaires were allocated, and 269 were recovered, including 254 valid questionnaires. The overall awareness of Survey of oncomelanid snails (WS/T 563-2017) was 84.64% (215/254), and propagation and implementation of Survey of oncomelanid snails (WS/T 563-2017) was not performed in 23.28% (17/73) of the survey institutions following implementation of Survey of oncomelanid snails (WS/T 563-2017), with meeting training and allocation of propagation materials as the main type of propagation and implementation. Among 254 respondents, 77.16% (196/254) were familiar with the standard, 66.14% (168/254) understood the conditions for use of the standard during snail surveys, and 96.85% (246/254) had the approach for identifying snails. In addition, there were 41.73% (106/254), 50.78% (129/254) and 7.48% (19/254) of respondents that considered the operability of Survey of oncomelanid snails (WS/T 563-2017) was very good, good and general, respectively. The findings demonstrate that the issue and implementation of Survey of oncomelanid snails (WS/T 563-2017) has filled the gap for the standardization of snail control techniques, and which plays an importang guiding role in the national schistosomiasis control program.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To establish a risk assessment model to predict postoperative National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel stage 2 or higher pressure injury (PI) risk in patients undergoing acute type A aortic dissection surgery. METHODS This retrospective assessment included consecutive patients undergoing acute type A aortic dissection surgery in the authors' hospital from September 2017 to June 2021. The authors used LASSO (logistic least absolute shrinkage and selection operator) regression analysis to identify the most relevant variables associated with PI by running cyclic coordinate descent with 10-times cross-validation. The variables selected by LASSO regression analysis were subjected to multivariate logistic analysis. A calibration plot, receiver operating characteristic curve, and decision curve analysis were used to validate the model. RESULTS There were 469 patients in the study, including 94 (27.5%) with postoperative PI. Ten variables were selected from LASSO regression: body mass index, diabetes, Marfan syndrome, stroke, preoperative skin moisture, hemoglobin, albumin, serum creatinine, platelet, and d-dimer. Four risk factors emerged after multivariate logistic regression: Marfan syndrome, preoperative skin moisture, albumin, and serum creatinine. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of the model was 0.765. The calibration plot and the decision curve analysis both suggested that the model was suitable for predicting postoperative PI. CONCLUSIONS This study built an efficient predictive model that could help identify high-risk patients.

Abstract
The incidence rate of liver cancer has been rising in recent years. Traditional cell line culture and human patient-derived tumor xenograft models, which are commonly used tools to simulate the occurrence of human liver cancer, have deepened the understanding of tumor occurrence, development, and drug resistance mechanisms. However, they cannot reflect the accurate state of cancer cells, the tumor microenvironment, or spatial structural characteristics. Recently, more in vitro-produced physiological liver organoids have been applied in the study of liver cancer. Liver organoid models have made breakthroughs in the occurrence and development mechanisms of liver cancer, personalized drug screening and biomarker identification, immunotherapy, and regenerative medicine applications. This paper mainly summarizes the progress and application of liver organoids processed in the study of liver cancer.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aimed to comprehensively analyze the time trends in average sleep duration and prevalence of short sleep, poor sleep quality, and high sleep debt among Chinese adults. STUDY DESIGN This was a cross-sectional study. METHODS The study used nationally representative data from Chinese Family Panel Survey (CFPS) among adults aged ≥18 years. Linear regression and logistic regression were used to calculate P-values for trends across waves, and absolute difference in prevalences were calculated by linear regression. Poisson regression analysis was used to calculate the prevalence ratios of sleep-related problems. RESULTS In 2018, the estimated average sleep duration in adults was 7.6 h/d. A shorter sleep duration, higher proportion of short sleep, and poor sleep quality were observed in people aged ≥65 years, women, people with primary school education or below, and residents in Liaoning province. The average sleep duration slightly decreased from 8.2 h/d in 2010 to 7.6 h/d in 2016, and then remained stable from 2016 to 2018. The prevalence of short sleep duration has markedly increased from 11.8% in 2010 to 24.1% in 2016, and then there was a decline in prevalence from 2016 to 2018, although this decrease was not significant. The prevalence of high sleep debt among employed people increased from 6.2% in 2010 to 8.6% in 2018 (absolute difference, 2.4 p.p; P trend = 0.063). In addition, the prevalence of poor sleep quality increased from 15.6% in 2012 to 21.3% in 2018 (absolute difference of 5.7 p.p; P trend<0.001). For all the sleep-related variables, the degree of changes varied by sociodemographic subgroups. CONCLUSIONS In this nationally representative survey of the Chinese population, the average sleep duration slightly decreased from 2010 to 2016, and then remained stable from 2016 to 2018. Poor sleep quality, and high sleep debt increased among most of the sociodemographic subgroups. Future studies are needed to understand the drivers of changes in sleep health among Chinese adults.

Abstract
Through a strong oxidant Pb(OAc)4 promoted oxidative nucleophilic hydrogen substitution, site-selective direct and stepwise cyanation of BODIPYs using tetrabutylammonium cyanide was developed to give α-cyanated BODIPY derivatives. Characterization of optical and electrochemical properties of these dyes provides substantial enhancement of the electron affinity, with a reduction potential and LUMO level as low as -0.04 V and -4.43 eV, respectively. Radical anions of these electron-deficient 3,5-dicyanated BODIPYs were characterized by absorption and EPR spectroscopy.

Abstract
Background Intuition may play a role in clinical practice. This prospective cohort study aimed to explore whether surgeons' intuition is valid in predicting the operative mortality of acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD). Methods After admission (before surgery), attending surgeons were asked to rate the mortality on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 to 3 representing unlikely, 4-6 possible, and 7-10 very likely. The area under the curve (AUC) of receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was performed to assess the accuracy of prediction models. Results A significantly higher Surgeon's Score [5.0 (2.0, 8.0) vs. 8.0 (7.0, 10.0)] was observed in the mortality group, compared to the survival group. The odds ratio (OR) for Surgeon's Score was 1.32 [95% confidence interval (CI): 1.09-1.66, P=0.009]. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression picked the following variables as significant predictors for early mortality of ATAAD: Surgeon's Score, Penn classification, age, aortic regurgitation, coronary artery disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, platelet count, and ejection fraction. The AUC for the German Registry for Acute Aortic Dissection Type A (GERAADA) score and Surgeon's Score were 0.740 (95% CI: 0.625-0.854), and 0.710 (95% CI: 0.586-0.833), respectively. The combined model of GERAADA score and Surgeon's Score yielded an AUC of up to 0.761 (95% CI: 0.638-0.884). Conclusions Intuition certainly has a place alongside evidence-based medicine. The duet of intuition and statistics-based scoring systems allows us to make more accurate predictions, potentially resulting in more rational clinical decisions.

Abstract
Introduction The hepatobiliary-specific phase can help in early detection of changes in lesion tissue density, internal structure, and microcirculatory perfusion at the microscopic level and has important clinical value in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Therefore, this study aimed to construct a preoperative nomogram for predicting the positive expression of glypican-3 (GPC3) based on gadoxetic acid-enhanced (Gd-EOB-DTPA) MRI hepatobiliary phase (HBP) radiomics, imaging and clinical feature. Methods We retrospectively included 137 patients with HCC who underwent Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced MRI and subsequent liver resection or puncture biopsy at our hospital from January 2017 to December 2021 as training cohort. Subsequently collected from January 2022 to June 2023 as a validation cohort of 49 patients, Radiomic features were extracted from the entire tumor region during the HBP using 3D Slicer software and screened using a t-test and least absolute shrinkage selection operator algorithm (LASSO). Then, these features were used to construct a radiomics score (Radscore) for each patient, which was combined with clinical factors and imaging features of the HBP to construct a logistic regression model and subsequent nomogram model. The clinicoradiologic, radiomics and nomogram models performance was assessed by the area under the curve (AUC), calibration, and decision curve analysis (DCA). In the validation cohort, the nomogram performance was assessed by the area under the curve (AUC). Results In the training cohort, a total of 1688 radiomics features were extracted from each patient. Next, radiomics with ICCs<0.75 were excluded, 1587 features were judged as stable using intra- and inter-class correlation coefficients (ICCs), 26 features were subsequently screened using the t-test, and 11 radiomics features were finally screened using LASSO. The nomogram combining Radscore, age, serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) >400ng/mL, and non-smooth tumor margin (AUC=0.888, sensitivity 77.7%, specificity 91.2%) was superior to the radiomics (AUC=0.822, sensitivity 81.6%, specificity 70.6%) and clinicoradiologic (AUC=0.746, sensitivity 76.7%, specificity 64.7%) models, with good consistency in calibration curves. DCA also showed that the nomogram had the highest net clinical benefit for predicting GPC3 expression. In the validation cohort, the ROC curve results showed predicted GPC3-positive expression nomogram model AUC, sensitivity, and specificity of 0.800, 58.5%, and 100.0%, respectively. Conclusion HBP radiomics features are closely associated with GPC3-positive expression, and combined clinicoradiologic factors and radiomics features nomogram may provide an effective way to non-invasively and individually screen patients with GPC3-positive HCC.

Abstract
Molecular clocks are the basis for dating the divergence between lineages over macroevolutionary timescales (~105 to 108 years). However, classical DNA-based clocks tick too slowly to inform us about the recent past. Here, we demonstrate that stochastic DNA methylation changes at a subset of cytosines in plant genomes display a clocklike behavior. This "epimutation clock" is orders of magnitude faster than DNA-based clocks and enables phylogenetic explorations on a scale of years to centuries. We show experimentally that epimutation clocks recapitulate known topologies and branching times of intraspecies phylogenetic trees in the self-fertilizing plant Arabidopsis thaliana and the clonal seagrass Zostera marina, which represent two major modes of plant reproduction. This discovery will open new possibilities for high-resolution temporal studies of plant biodiversity.

Abstract
Blastocystis is a common unicellular intestinal protozoa in humans and animals, and the most common clinical manifestations of infections include abdominal pain and diarrhea. Based on the sequence of the small-subunit ribosomal RNA (SSU rRNA) gene, 28 subtypes of B. hominis (ST1 to ST17, ST21 and ST23 to ST32) have been characterized. Previous studies have demonstrated that B. hominis infection is strongly associated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and other intestinal diseases, which threatens the health and quality of life among patients with B. hominis infection and is considered as an important public health problem. This review summarizes the progress of researches on B. hominis infection among IBD and IBS patients during the past 20 years, so as to provide insights into management of blastocystosis in China.

Abstract
Aims Understanding the cellular mechanisms underlying early allograft rejection is crucial for the development of effective immunosuppressant strategies. This study aims to investigate the cellular composition of graft-infiltrating cells during the early rejection stage at a single-cell level and identify potential therapeutic targets. Methods A heterotopic heart transplant model was established using enhanced green fluorescent protein (eGFP)-expressing mice as recipients of allogeneic or syngeneic grafts. At 3 days post-transplant, eGFP-positive cells infiltrating the grafts were sorted and subjected to single-cell RNA-seq analysis. Potential molecular targets were evaluated by assessing graft survival and functions following administration of various pharmacological inhibitors. Results A total of 27,053 cells recovered from syngrafts and allografts were classified into 20 clusters based on expression profiles and annotated with a reference dataset. Innate immune cells, including monocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, and dendritic cells, constituted the major infiltrating cell types (>90%) in the grafts. Lymphocytes, fibroblasts, and endothelial cells represented a smaller population. Allografts exhibited significantly increased proportions of monocyte-derived cells involved in antigen processing and presentation, as well as activated lymphocytes, as compared to syngrafts. Differential expression analysis revealed upregulation of interferon activation-related genes in the innate immune cells infiltrating allografts. Pro-inflammatory polarization gene signatures were also enriched in these infiltrating cells of allografts. Gene profiling and intercellular communication analysis identified natural killer cells as the primary source of interferon-γ signaling, activating inflammatory monocytes that displayed strong signals of major histocompatibility complexes and co-stimulatory molecules. The inflammatory response was also associated with promoted T cell proliferation and activation in allografts during the early transplant stages. Notably, caspase-1 exhibited specific upregulation in inflammatory monocytes in response to interferon signaling. The regulon analysis also revealed a significant enrichment of interferon-related motifs within the transcriptional regulatory network of downstream inflammatory genes including caspase-1. Remarkably, pharmacological inhibition of caspase-1 was shown to reduce immune infiltration, prevent acute graft rejection, and improve cardiac contractile function. Conclusion The single-cell transcriptional profile highlighted the crucial role of caspase-1 in interferon-mediated inflammatory monocytes infiltrating heart transplants, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic target for attenuating rejection.

Human aortic smooth muscle cell regulation by METTL3 via upregulation of m6A NOTCH1 modification and inhibition of NOTCH1. ANNALS OF TRANSLATIONAL MEDICINE 2023; 11:350. [PMID: 37675298 PMCID: PMC10477642 DOI: 10.21037/atm-22-1203] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 03/06/2022] [Accepted: 10/14/2022] [Indexed: 09/08/2023]
Abstract
Background Thoracic aortic dissection (TAD) is a very serious vascular condition that requires immediate treatment. Phenotypic conversion of human aortic smooth muscle cells (HASMCs) has been reported to be a causal factor for TAD development. Genetic variations affecting RNA modification may play a functional role in TAD. In this study, we aimed to explore the potential role of the methyltransferase like 3 (METTL3) and notch homolog 1 (NOTCH1) N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification mechanisms in HASMCs. Methods HASMCs were cultured. METTL3 was knocked down and overexpressed. Then, both METTL3 and NOTCH1 were simultaneously knocked down in HASMCs. HASMC proliferation was determined using Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8). METTL3, NOTCH1, α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), smooth muscle protein 22-alpha (SM22α), and calponin expressions were monitored with quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and Western blotting. An m6A dot blot assay was used to examine the m6A modification levels. The NOTCH1 3' untranslated region (3'UTR) m6A modification was analyzed using SRAMP and RMBase v. 2.0. A methylated RNA immunoprecipitation (MeRIP) assay was used to evaluate the METTL3 overexpression effect on m6A modification of NOTCH1 messenger RNA (mRNA). A dual-luciferase assay was used to investigate the effect of METTL3 binding of the NOTCH1 mRNA m6A modification site. YTH domain family 2 (YTHDF2)-RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP) was used to detect the change in YTHDF2's ability to bind to NOTCH1 mRNA after METTL3 overexpression. Results Overexpression of METTL3 inhibited α-SMA, SM22α, calponin, and NOTCH1 expressions and promoted HASMC proliferation. Knocking down METTL3 had the opposite effect. The cointerference of the METTL3 and NOTCH1 results suggested that METTL3 regulated NOTCH1, contributing to HASMC phenotypic changes. The MeRIP assay showed that the m6A modification of NOTCH1 mRNA increased after METTL3 overexpression. The dual-luciferase assay indicated that the NOTCH1 mRNA m6A modification site and METTL3 overexpression promoted NOTCH1 mRNA degradation. YTHDF2-RIP further demonstrated that the binding ability of YTHDF2 and NOTCH1 mRNA was enhanced after METTL3 overexpression. Conclusions METTL3 regulated the phenotypic changes of HASMC by upregulating m6A modification of NOTCH1 and inhibiting NOTCH1.

Abstract
Background The weekend effect refers to the mortality difference for patients admitted/operated on weekends compared to those on weekdays. The study aimed to provide new evidence on the impact of the weekend effect on acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD). Methods Primary endpoints were operative mortality, stroke, paraplegia, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). A meta-analysis of current evidence on the weekend effect was first conducted. Analyses based on single-center data (retrospective, case-control study) were further performed. Results A total of 18,462 individuals were included in the meta-analysis. The pooled results showed that mortality was not significantly higher for ATAAD on weekends compared to that on weekdays [odds ratio (OR): 1.16, 95% CI: 0.94-1.43]. The single-center cohort included 479 patients, which also showed no significant differences in primary and secondary outcomes between the two groups. The unadjusted OR for weekend group over weekday group was 0.90 (95% CI: 0.40-1.86, P=0.777). The adjusted OR for weekend group was 0.94 (95% CI: 0.41-2.02, P=0.880) controlling for significant preoperative factors, and 0.75 (95% CI: 0.30-1.74, P=0.24) controlling for significant preoperative and operative factors altogether. In PSM matched cohort, the operative mortality was still comparable between the weekend group [10 (7.2%)] and weekday group [9 (6.5%)] (P=1.000). No significant survival difference was observed between the two groups (P=0.970). Conclusions The weekend effect was not found to be applicable to ATAAD. However, clinicians should be cautious of the weekend effect as it is disease-specific and may vary across healthcare systems.

Abstract
Linear π-conjugated oligopyrroles are attractive precursors for the synthesis of expanded porphyrinoids, chemosensors, and supramolecular motifs. We demonstrate a new method for the synthesis of a set of linear pyrrolyltripyrrins and dipyrrolyltripyrrins through a regioselective SNAr reaction on α,α'-dibromotripyrrins using various pyrroles or indoles. A representative calixsmaragdyrin was prepared via the 2-fold SNAr reaction between α,α'-dibromotripyrrin and dipyrromethene through a convergent [3 + 2] strategy. These oligopyrroles showed intense deep red absorptions with an interesting pH response.

Synthesis and Electrical Percolation of Highly Amorphous Polyvinyl Alcohol/Reduced Graphene Oxide Nanocomposite. MATERIALS (BASEL, SWITZERLAND) 2023; 16:ma16114060. Abstract
Polyvinyl alcohol is the most commercially water-soluble biodegradable polymer, and it is in use for a wide range of applications. It shows good compatibility with most inorganic/organic fillers, and enhanced composites may be prepared without the need to introduce coupling agents and interfacial modifiers. The patented high amorphous polyvinyl alcohol (HAVOH), commercialized with the trade name G-Polymer, can be easily dispersed in water and melt processed. HAVOH is particularly suitable for extrusion and can be used as a matrix to disperse nanocomposites with different properties. In this work, the optimization of the synthesis and characterization of HAVOH/reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanocomposite obtained by the solution blending process of HAVOH and Graphene Oxide (GO) water solutions and 'in situ' reduction of GO is studied. The produced nanocomposite presents a low percolation threshold (~1.7 wt%) and high electrical conductivity (up to 11 S/m) due to the uniform dispersion in the polymer matrix as a result of the solution blending process and the good reduction level of GO. In consideration of HAVOH processability, the conductivity obtained by using rGO as filler, and the low percolation threshold, the nanocomposite presented here is a good candidate for the 3D printing of a conductive structure.

Nicotine exacerbates atherosclerosis and plaque instability via NLRP3 inflammasome activation in vascular smooth muscle cells. Theranostics 2023; 13:2825-2842. Abstract
Rationale: Nicotine has been reported to be a strong risk factor for atherosclerosis. However, the underlying mechanism by which nicotine controls atherosclerotic plaque stability remain largely unknown. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of lysosomal dysfunction mediated NLRP3 inflammasome activation in vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) on atherosclerotic plaque formation and stability in advanced atherosclerosis at the brachiocephalic arteries (BA). Methods and Results: Features of atherosclerotic plaque stability and the markers for NLR Family Pyrin Domain Containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome were monitored in the BA from nicotine or vehicle-treated apolipoprotein E deficient (Apoe-/-) mice fed with Western-type diet (WD). Nicotine treatment for 6 weeks accelerated atherosclerotic plaque formation and enhanced the hallmarks of plaque instability in BA of Apoe-/- mice. Moreover, nicotine elevated interleukin 1 beta (IL-1β) in serum and aorta and was preferred to activate NLRP3 inflammasome in aortic vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC). Importantly, pharmacological inhibition of Caspase1, a key downstream target of NLRP3 inflammasome complex, and genetic inactivation of NLRP3 significantly restrained nicotine-elevated IL-1β in serum and aorta, as well as nicotine-stimulated atherosclerotic plaque formation and plaque destabilization in BA. We further confirmed the role of VSMC-derived NLRP3 inflammasome in nicotine-induced plaque instability by using VSMC specific TXNIP (upstream regulator of NLRP3 inflammasome) deletion mice. Mechanistic study further showed that nicotine induced lysosomal dysfunction resulted in cathepsin B cytoplasmic release. Inhibition or knockdown of cathepsin B blocked nicotine-dependent inflammasome activation. Conclusions: Nicotine promotes atherosclerotic plaque instability by lysosomal dysfunction-mediated NLRP3 inflammasome activation in vascular smooth muscle cells.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the regulatory mechanism of human hepatocyte apoptosis induced by lysosomal membrane protein Sidt2 knockout. METHODS The Sidt2 knockout (Sidt2-/-) cell model was constructed in human hepatocyte HL7702 cells using Crispr-Cas9 technology. The protein levels of Sidt2 and key autophagy proteins LC3-II/I and P62 in the cell model were detected using Western blotting, and the formation of autophagosomes was observed with MDC staining.EdU incorporation assay and flow cytometry were performed to observe the effect of Sidt2 knockout on cell proliferation and apoptosis. The effect of chloroquine at the saturating concentration on autophagic flux, proliferation and apoptosis of Sidt2 knockout cells were observed. RESULTS Sidt2-/- HL7702 cells were successfully constructed.Sidt2 knockout significantly inhibited the proliferation and increased apoptosis of the cells, causing also increased protein expressions of LC3-II/I and P62(P < 0.05) and increased number of autophagosomes.Autophagy of the cells reached a saturated state following treatment with 50 μmol/L chloroquine, and at this concentration, chloroquine significantly increased the expressions of LC3B and P62 in Sidt2-/- HL7702 cells. CONCLUSION Sidt2 gene knockout causes dysregulation of the autophagy pathway and induces apoptosis of HL7702 cells, and the latter effect is not mediated by inhibiting the autophagy-lysosomal pathway.

Abstract
Aromatic ring fusion on BODIPY core can effectively tune its electronic property, and red-shift the absorption and emission wavelength. In this work, we report that a one-pot Pd(II) catalyzed multiple C-H activation to access acenaphtho[b]-fused BODIPYs though the reaction of α,β-unsubstituted-BODIPYs and 1,8-dibromonaphthalenes. These newly synthesized acenaphtho[b]-fused BODIPYs revealed intensified deep red absorptions (639 - 669 nm) and emissions (643 - 683 nm), with high fluorescence quantum yields (0.53 - 0.84) in dichloromethane. Notably, these acenaphtho[b]-fused BODIPYs exhibited well-defined self-aggregation behavior in water/THF mixture, and for instance, the absorption of 3a was red-shifted by 53 to 693 nm after forming aggregates.

Abstract
A convenient method for the synthesis of fluorine-containing heterocyclic compounds was developed by a copper-catalyzed free radical addition reaction of alkynol and ethyl bromodifluoroacetate. This strategy involves copper-catalyzed free radical addition and molecular lactone exchange of ethynyl alcohol and ethyl bromodifluoroacetate. The method is characterized by easy availability of raw materials, good stereochemical selectivity, and simple operation. More importantly, valuable tetrasubstituted E-configurated alkenes and various vinyl C-Br bonds and difluoromethylene-containing functionalized heterocycles can be obtained by this method.

Abstract
Molecular clocks are the basis for dating the divergence between lineages over macro-evolutionary timescales (~10 5 -10 8 years). However, classical DNA-based clocks tick too slowly to inform us about the recent past. Here, we demonstrate that stochastic DNA methylation changes at a subset of cytosines in plant genomes possess a clock-like behavior. This 'epimutation-clock' is orders of magnitude faster than DNA-based clocks and enables phylogenetic explorations on a scale of years to centuries. We show experimentally that epimutation-clocks recapitulate known topologies and branching times of intra-species phylogenetic trees in the selfing plant A. thaliana and the clonal seagrass Z. marina , which represent two major modes of plant reproduction. This discovery will open new possibilities for high-resolution temporal studies of plant biodiversity.

Abstract
As a crucial source of mesenchymal stromal cells, CD51+/PDGFR-α+ human dental pulp stromal cells (hDPSCs) are promising seeding cells for regenerative medicine. Cellular senescence hinders the translational application of hDPSCs. However, it remains unclear whether chronological and replicative senescence results in distinct outcomes for hDPSCs. To investigate the influence of senescence on DPSCs, we used transgenic lineage tracking, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, and various molecular experiments to depict the dynamic pattern of hDPSCs in mice and humans during chronological and replicative senescence. The data demonstrated that CD51+/PDGFR-α+ cells were decreased in chronological senescence. Impaired self-renewal and higher ossificatory differentiation were observed in chronologically senescent hDPSCs. Regarding replicative senescence, a decreased CD51+ but upregulated PDGFR-α+ population was observed in culture. Furthermore, weakened self-renewal and osteogenic differentiation were observed in replicatively senescent hDPSCs. In summary, CD51+/PDGFR-α+ hDPSCs decrease in chronologically aged pulp, with self-renewal that is impaired without impaired osteogenic differentiation. However, replicative senescence has a different impact: self-renewal and ossific differentiation are impaired and CD51 expression is reduced, but PDGFR-α expression remains. These findings demonstrate the different outcomes of chronological and replicative senescence in CD51+/PDGFR-α+ hDPSCs. Furthermore, we revealed that impaired self-renewal is the core dysfunction for both types of cellular aging and that osteogenic differentiation capability differs between them. This study provides insights into the influence of chronological and replicative senescence on the characteristics and capabilities of hDPSCs. These advances provide fundamental knowledge to alleviate cellular aging of CD51+/PDGFR-α+ hDPSCs and promote their translational applications.

Abstract
Near-infrared (NIR) fluorophores with characteristics such as deep tissue penetration, minimal damage to the biological samples, and low background interference, are highly sought-after materials for in vivo and deep-tissue fluorescence imaging. Herein, series of 3-pyrrolylBODIPY derivatives and 3,5-dipyrrolylBODIPY derivatives have been prepared by a facile regioselective nucleophilic aromatic substitution reaction (SN Ar) on 3,5-halogenated BODIPY derivatives (3,5-dibromo or 2,3,5,6-tetrachloroBODIPYs) with pyrroles. The installation of a pyrrolic unit onto the 3-position of the BODIPY chromophore leads to a dramatic red shift of both the absorption (up to 160 nm) and the emission (up to 260 nm) in these resultant 3-pyrrolylBODIPYs with respect to that of the BODIPY chromophore. Their further 5-positional functionalization provides a facile way to fine tune their photophysical properties, and these resulting dipyrrolylBODIPYs and functionalized pyrrolylBODIPYs show strong absorption in the deep red-to-NIR regions (595-684 nm) and intense NIR fluorescence emission (650-715 nm) in dichloromethane. To demonstrate the applicability of these functionalized pyrrolylBODIPYs as NIR fluorescent probes for cell imaging, pyrrolylBODIPY 6 a containing mitochondrion-targeting butyltriphenylphosphonium cationic species was also prepared. It selectively localized in mitochondria of HeLa cells, with low cytotoxicity and intense deep red fluorescence emission.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the efficacy of 0.01% atropine to slow the progression of myopia in children. METHODS We searched PubMed, Embase, ClinicalTrials.gov, CNKI, Cqvip and Wan fang databases from inception to January 2022, including RCTs (randomized controlled trials) and non-RCTs (non-randomized controlled trials). The search strategy was 'myopia' OR 'refractive error' and 'atropine.' Two researchers independently reviewed the articles, and stata12.0 was used for meta-analysis. The Jadad score was used to assess the quality of RCT, and the Newcastle-Ottawa scale was used for non-RCTs. RESULTS Five RCTs and two non-RCTs (1 prospective non-randomized controlled study, 1 retrospective cohort study) were identified (including 1000 eyes). Results of the meta-analysis showed statistical heterogeneity among the 7 included studies (P=0. 026, I2 =47.1%). According to different durations of atropine use - 4 months, 6 months and greater than 8 months, subgroup analysis results showed that the axial elongation of all experimental groups relative to control groups were respectively -0.03mm (95% [CI], (confidence interval), -0.07 to 0.01), -0.07mm (95% [CI], -0.10 to -0.05), -0.09mm (95% [CI], -0.12 to -0.06). Each P was greater than 0.05, which indicated that there is little heterogeneity among the subgroups. CONCLUSIONS In this meta-analysis of the short-term efficacy of atropine in myopia patients, it was found that there was little heterogeneity when grouped by usage time. It is suggested that the use of atropine in the treatment of myopia is not only related to its concentration but also related to the duration of use.

Abstract
Hydrazine inserted pyrrole-based bisboron fluorophores showcasing strong fluorescence in either solution or solid state have attracted wide applications in biomedicine and optoelectronic materials science. The growing demand calls for multiple strategies for generating novel fluorophores to solve the problems of small Stokes shifts and poor solid fluorescence. By changing the frameworks, BOPHY, BOPPY, BOPYPY, BOPAHY and BOAPY has recently been developed as increasingly valuable classes of bisboron fluorophores owing to its tunable structures and promising spectroscopic properties, high photostability and low LUMO energy level and the electron-deficient bisBF2 groups. This review mainly highlights the key synthetic strategies of these hydrazine inserted pyrrole-based bisboron fluorophores BOPHY, BOPPY and BOAPY in our group and their superior properties. Moreover, significant photophysical data of these fluorophores in solution and solid states are also inside the scope of this review. The facile functionalization of these fluorophores’ platforms allows a practically structural modification and generate novel versatile dyes with excellent chemical and photophysical properties. We believe that these fluorophores will hold promise to make an important contribution to various applications.

Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate microvascular perfusion and left ventricular function in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction after revascularization using myocardial contrast echocardiography (MCE), and to explore clinical influencing factors of abnormal microvascular perfusion in these patients. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study. The analysis was performed among patients admitted to Peking University People's Hospital for acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) from June 2018 to July 2021. All patients underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and completed MCE within 48 hours after PCI. Patients were divided into normal myocardial perfusion group and abnormal perfusion group according to the myocardial perfusion score. The echocardiographic indexes within 48 hours after PCI, including peak mitral valve flow velocity (E), mean value of early diastolic velocity of left ventricular septum and lateral mitral annulus (Em), left ventricular global longitudinal strain (GLS) and so on, were analyzed and compared between the two groups. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the influencing factors of myocardial perfusion abnormalities. Results: A total of 123 STEMI patients, aged 59±13 years with 93 (75.6%) males, were enrolled. There were 50 cases in the normal myocardial perfusion group, and 73 cases in the abnormal myocardial perfusion group. The incidence of abnormal myocardial perfusion was 59.3% (73/123). The left ventricular volume index ((62.3±18.4)ml/m2 vs. (55.1±15.2)ml/m2, P=0.018), wall motion score index (WMSI) (1.59 (1.44, 2.00) vs. 1.24(1.00, 1.47), P<0.001) and mitral E/Em (17.8(12.0, 24.3) vs. 12.2(9.2, 15.7), P<0.001) were significantly higher whereas left ventricular global longitudinal strain (GLS) ((-10.8±3.4)% vs. (-13.8±3.5)%, P<0.001) was significantly lower in the abnormal myocardial perfusion group than those in the normal myocardial perfusion group. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that left anterior descending (LAD) as culprit vessel (OR=3.733, 95%CI 1.282-10.873, P=0.016), intraoperative no/low-reflow (OR=6.125, 95%CI 1.299-28.872, P=0.022), and peak troponin I (TnI) (OR=1.018, 95%CI 1.008-1.029, P=0.001) were independent risk factors of abnormal myocardial perfusion. As for ultrasonic indexes, deceleration time of mitral E wave (OR=0.979, 95%CI 0.965-0.993, P=0.003), mitral E/Em (OR=1.100, 95%CI 1.014-1.194, P=0.022) and WMSI (OR=7.470, 95%CI 2.630-21.222, P<0.001) were independently related to abnormal myocardial perfusion. Conclusions: The incidence of abnormal myocardial perfusion after PCI is high in patients with acute STEMI. Abnormal myocardial perfusion is related to worse left ventricular systolic and diastolic function. LAD as culprit vessel, intraoperative no/low-reflow and peak TnI are independent risk factors of abnormal myocardial perfusion.

Abstract
An efficient procedure is presented for functionalization of BODIPYs at boron with arylstannanes as weak nucleophiles in the presence of aluminum chloride, providing new aryl-boron-substituted BODIPY and aza-BODIPY derivatives of singular importance. Most of these aryl-boron-substituted BODIPYs showed bright emission in the aqueous solution with significant aggregation-induced emission enhancement and high solid-state emission as a result of the restricted rotation of the meso-phenyl group and boron-substituted aryl groups as well as the formation of J-type aggregates.
