Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to study the correlation between preeclampsia (PE) and lncRNA nuclear paraspeckle assembly transcript 1 (NEAT1), and to examine the molecular mechanisms behind the development of PE. METHODS 30 PE and 30 normal pregnant women placental samples were assessed the levels of NEAT1 and miR-217 by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). The trophoblast cell line HTR8/SVneo was used for silencing NEAT1 or miR-217 inhibitor in the absence or presence of an inhibitor and H2O2. Cell counting Kit 8 (CCK-8), flow cytometry, and Transwell were used to detect cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion. Luciferase reporter gene assay was utilized to verify the binding between miR-217 and Wnt family member 3 (Wnt3), and between the miR-217 and NEAT1. Proteins related to the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway were detected using western blotting. RESULTS The PE group exhibited a significantly downregulated expression of miR-217 and a significantly upregulated expression of NEAT1. NEAT1 targeted miR-217, and Wnt is a miR-217 target gene. siRNA-NEAT1 inhibited the apoptosis of trophoblast cells, but promoted their invasion, migration, and proliferation. MiR-217 inhibitor could partially reverse the effects of siRNA-NEAT1. The expression of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway-related proteins, WNT signaling pathway inhibitor 1 (DKK1), cyclin-D1 and β-catenin, was significantly increased after siRNA-NEAT1. CONCLUSIONS NEAT1 could reduce trophoblast cell invasion and migration by suppressing miR-217/Wnt signaling pathway, leading to PE.

Abstract
Objective: To describe the current situation and influencing factors of e-cigarette use among secondary school students in Heilongjiang Province to provide evidence for formulating provincial youth e-cigarette prevention and control strategies. Methods: A multi-stage stratified cluster probability sampling method was adopted in 2021, with 8 340 students in 180 classes from 56 primary and high schools in 10 monitoring districts and counties in Heilongjiang Province. The students in the selected classes filled out a unified questionnaire by themselves. SAS 9.4 software was used for data cleansing, sample weighting, and analysis. Chi-squared tests were used to compare the differences between groups, and a two-level logistic regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors of e-cigarette use among secondary school students. Results: A total of 8 329 survey questionnaires were included in the analysis. The prevalence rates of ever and current e-cigarette use among secondary school students in Heilongjiang Province were 18.27% and 5.46%, respectively. In terms of ever e-cigarette use, the rate of boys (23.94%) was higher than that of girls (12.35%). The rate of vocational high school students (39.18%) was higher than that of general high school students (24.11%) and than that of junior school students (11.27%). In terms of current e-cigarette use, the rate of boys (7.08%) was higher than that of girls (3.76%). The rate of vocational high school students (14.56%) was higher than that of general high school students (7.70%) and than that of junior school students (2.67%). The rates of ever and current e-cigarette use were relatively higher in each subgroup, including "weekly allowance more than 40 Yuan" "one of the student's parents, friends or teachers was smoker" "smoked cigarettes now" and "saw e-cigarette advertisements". A two-level logistic regression model showed that the following factors were the influencing factors of current use of e-cigarettes among secondary school students, including gender, whether they were current cigarette smokers, the smoking status of their close friends, if they saw teachers smoked in the school, noticed e-cigarette advertisements, and e-cigarette addictive cognition. Conclusions: The prevalence rates of ever and current e-cigarette use among secondary school students in Heilongjiang Province were high. E-cigarette advertisements, the smoking status of their close friends, and whether they saw teachers smoking in the school were the main factors affecting e-cigarette use among secondary school students in Heilongjiang Province. It is necessary to focus on constructing smoke-free environments and increase health education related to e-cigarette knowledge on risk in developing a smoke-free campus in the whole province.

High expression of peroxisomal D-bifunctional protein in cytosol regulates apoptosis and energy metabolism of hepatocellular carcinoma cells via PI3K/AKT pathway. Am J Cancer Res 2023; 13:1884-1903. Abstract
Peroxisomal D-bifunctional protein (DBP) is an indispensable enzyme of the fatty acid β-oxidation in the peroxisome of humans. However, the role of DBP in oncogenesis is poorly understood. Our previous studies have demonstrated that DBP overexpression promotes hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cell proliferation. In this study, we evaluated the expression of DBP in 75 primary HCC samples using RT-qPCR, immunohistochemistry, and Western blot, as well as its correlation with the prognosis of HCC. In addition, we explored the mechanisms by which DBP promotes HCC cell proliferation. We found that DBP expression was upregulated in HCC tumor tissues, and higher DBP expression was positively correlated with tumor size and TNM stage. Multinomial ordinal logistic regression analysis indicated that lower DBP mRNA level was an independent protective factor of HCC. Notably, DBP was overexpressed in the peroxisome and cytosol and mitochondria of tumor tissue cells. Xenograft tumor growth was promoted by overexpressing DBP outside peroxisome in vivo. Mechanistically, DBP overexpression in cytosol activated the PI3K/AKT signaling axis and promoted HCC cell proliferation by downregulating apoptosis via AKT/FOXO3a/Bim axis. In addition, overexpression of DBP increased glucose uptake and glycogen content via AKT/GSK3β axis, as well as elevated the activity of mitochondrial respiratory chain complex III to increase ATP content via the mitochondrial translocation of p-GSK3β in an AKT-dependent manner. Taken together, this study was the first to report the expression of DBP in peroxisome and cytosol, and that the cytosolic DBP has a critical role in the metabolic reprogramming and adaptation of HCC cells, which provides a valuable reference for instituting an HCC treatment plan.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the effects of hyperandrogenism (HA) on pregnancy outcomes in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) undergoing in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection-embryo transfer (IVF/ICSI-ET). Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on infertile women with PCOS undergoing IVF/ICSI-ET from January 2017 to June 2021 in our center. Patients were divided into HA group and NON-HA group according to the levels of testosterone. Propensity score matching (PSM) was used to balance the influence of female age and IVF/ICSI-ET for patients with gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH)antagonist protocol and GnRH agonist protocol, separately. After the PSM procedure, 191 cases in HA group and 382 cases in NON-HA group, were included. Hormone levels and pregnancy outcomes were compared in the two groups. Results: The female age was comparable in two groups [HA: (29.6±3.7) vs NON-HA: (29.5±3.6), P=0.665]. The basal luteinizing hormone [(10.82±6.73) vs (7.76±5.30) IU/L], testosterone [(3.27±0.97) vs (1.60±0.59) nmol/L], free androgen index (7.13 vs 2.77), anti-mullerian hormone [(11.37±5.74) vs (9.67±4.67) ng/ml], fasting glucose [(5.18±0.49) vs (5.06±0.42) mmol/L], 1h glucose [(9.34±2.42) vs (7.99±2.21) nmol/L], 2 h glucose [(7.66±2.17) vs (6.64±1.84) nmol/L], 2 h insulin [(129.81±145.49) vs (97.51±86.92) mU/L], total cholesterol [(5.35±0.89) vs (4.92±0.92) mmol/L], triglycerides [(1.55±1.28) vs (1.33±0.77) mmol/L], and low density lipoprotein cholesterol levels [(3.38±0.66) vs (3.14±0.71) mmol/L] were significantly higher in HA group, compared with NON-HA group (P<0.05). The initiated gonadotropin dose was higher in HA group than that in NON-HA group [(126.96±33.65) vs (137.60±38.12) U, P=0.001], but moderate-severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) rate was similar in two groups (P>0.05). The rates of implantation, clinical pregnancy, miscarriage, and live birth were comparable between the two groups (P>0.05). Also, in the subgroups, the rates of implantation, clinical pregnancy, live birth, and miscarriage were similar in HA group and NON-HA group. Conclusions: The risks of hormonal abnormality and glucose-lipid metabolic disorder were higher in PCOS women with HA, whereas satisfactory pregnancy outcomes could be achieved under proper ovarian stimulation undergoing IVF/ICSI-ET.

Abstract
PM2.5 is an important environmental problem threatening human health at present, which poses serious harm to human body after inhalation. J. cannabifolia is a traditional Chinese medicine which exhibits anti-inflammatory effect. This study aimed to investigate the inhibitory effect of main phenolic acid components of J. cannabifolia on inflammation caused by PM2.5. Effect of PM2.5 on cell activity and apoptosis were determined by MTT, flow cytometry and calcein AM/PI staining. PHBA, PHPAA, and mixture of PHBA and PHPAA of different concentrations were given to RAW264.7 cells pretreated with PM2.5. The effect of drugs on cellular inflammatory factors was detected by ELISA. The expressions of TLRs related signal pathway at protein and gene levels were detected by western blot and qRT-PCR. The results showed that PM2.5 had no effect on cell activity and apoptosis within the determined concentration range. PHBA and PHPAA could markly inhibit the level of IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α in RAW264.7 cells. Furthermore, the expressions of TLR2, TLR4, MyD88, IRAK1, TRAF6, TAK1, IKKβ, and NF-κB induced by PM2.5 were markedly inhibited by PHBA and PHPAA at protein and gene levels. This study demonstrated that PHBA and PHPAA could attenuated inflammation caused by PM2.5 through suppressing TLRs related signal pathway.

[Plasmids carried by carbapenems-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae in burn patients and its correlation with strain transmission]. ZHONGHUA SHAO SHANG YU CHUANG MIAN XIU FU ZA ZHI 2022; 38:1140-1147. [PMID: 36594144 DOI: 10.3760/cma.j.cn501120-20210930-00343] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [MESH Headings] [Grants] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 01/04/2023]
Abstract
Objective: To explore the carrier status of carbapenems-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) plasmids in burn patients and analyze the correlation of these plasmids with the transmission of CRKP. Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted. A total of 26 CRKP strains, which were isolated from the clinic-related samples of 22 burn patients (with 20 males and 2 females, aged (42±16) years) admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Army Medical University (the Third Military Medical University) from January to December 2017, were collected and individually numbered. The plasmids of the strains were extracted by alkali lysis. After determination of the plasmid concentration by a nucleic acid concentration detector, the agarose gel electrophoresis was used to visualize the bands, and rough plasmids typing was performed. The plasmid of the smallest numbered CRKP in each plasmid type was transformed into competent Escherichia coli (E. coli) strain Top10 (hereinafter referred to as TOP10 strain). The growth of each transformed strains and a Top10 strain cultivated in ampicillin containing Luria-Bertani (LB) agar medium overnight was observed, and the proportion of successful transformation was calculated. The plasmids from the smallest numbered plasmid carrying CRKP strain of successfully transformed Top10 strains (hereinafter referred to as the smallest successfully transformed strain) and correspondingly numbered CRKP were extracted, and then, the agarose gel electrophoresis was used to visualize the bands. Aforementioned successfully transformed strains and a TOP10 strain were used for the antimicrobial susceptibility testing with 17 antibiotics commonly used in clinic. The plasmid from the smallest successfully transformed strain was sequenced using the next-generation sequencing technology. Bioinformatics analyses such as protein-coding gene prediction and protein sequence alignment were performed successively. The sequence was subsequently named pKP03-NDM1 according to the carrying of drug resistance gene. According to the whole genome sequence of the plasmid carried by the smallest successfully transformed strain, the polymerase chain reaction, agarose gel electrophoresis, and gene sequencing were used to detect the New Delhi metallo-beta lactamase-1 (blaNDM-1) of plasmids in the remaining 25 strains of CRKP. The ST typing in multilocus sequence typing of 26 strains of CRKP was analyzed based on the literature. Results: Plasmids were successfully extracted from 26 CRKP, with mass concentrations ranging from 19.3 to 189.8 ng/μL. Each of the 26 CRKP carrying plasmids showed at least one band longer than 2 500 bp in the agarose gel electrophoresis, which were roughly divided into 6 patterns of A, B, C, D, E, and F. After overnight cultivation, no growth of strains was observed in LB agar medium containing ampicillin inoculated with the TOP10 strain or TOP10 strains transformed by the plasmid of CRKP patterning A, B, D, or E. In contrast, TOP10 strains transformed by the pattern C plasmid from NO.3 CRKP and the pattern F plasmid from NO.15 CRKP resulted in numerous colony growths, and those transformed strains were named as TOP10-pKP03 and TOP10-pKP15, respectively. The proportion of successful transformation was 1/3. The plasmid carried by TOP10-pKP03 showed a single band in the agarose gel electrophoresis, which was the same size as the largest band of the plasmid from NO.3 CRKP. The TOP10 strain was sensitive to the 17 antibiotics commonly used in clinic. TOP10-pKP03 and TOP10-pKP15 were resistant to penicillins, cephalosporins, and carbapenems but remained sensitive to monocyclic β-lactam, aminoglycosides, quinolones and tigecycline. The full length of the plasmid carried by TOP10-pKP03 was 41 190 bp. In addition to blaNDM-1, this plasmid carried bleMBL, T4SS, bleomycin resistance gene, conjugation transfer elements, and relaxase, etc. The plasmid showed 99% nucleotide identity similarity and the same length to the plasmid pJN24NDM1 extracted from an E. coli isolate JN24. Totally 16 (61.5%) CRKP were confirmed to carrying blaNDM-1 gene, among the ST typing of the 16 strains, 11 strains were ST11, while ST215, ST260, ST395, ST2230, and new ST had 1 strain each. Among the ST typing of 10 blaNDM-1-negative CRKP, 8 strains were ST11, while ST395 and ST2230 had 1 strain each. Conclusions: A blaNDM-1 gene carrying plasmid pKP03-NDM1 was extracted and sequenced from CRKP isolated from burn patients, with a high plasmid carrying rate. Meanwhile, this plasmid may mediate inter-CRKP and CRKP-E. coli horizontal transfer of blaNDM-1, leading to transmission of antimicrobial resistance.

Abstract
Objective: Pre-eclampsia (PE) complicated by fetal growth restriction (FGR) increases both perinatal mortality and the incidence of preterm birth and neonatal asphyxia. Because ultrasound measurements are bone markers, soft tissues, such as fetal fat and muscle, are ignored, and the selection of section surface and the influence of fetal position can lead to estimation errors. The early detection of FGR is not easy, resulting in a relative delay in intervention. It is assumed that FGR complicated with PE can be predicted by laboratory and clinical indicators. The present study adopts an artificial neural network (ANN) to assess the effect and predictive value of changes in maternal peripheral blood parameters and clinical indicators on the perinatal outcomes in patients with PE complicated by FGR.Methods: This study used a retrospective case-control approach. The correlation between maternal peripheral blood parameters and perinatal outcomes in pregnant patients with PE complicated by FGR was retrospectively analyzed, and an ANN was constructed to assess the value of the changes in maternal blood parameters in predicting the occurrence of PE complicated by FGR and adverse perinatal outcomes. Results: A total of 15 factors—maternal age, pre-pregnancy body mass index, inflammatory markers (neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio), coagulation parameters (prothrombin time and thrombin time), lipid parameters (high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein, and triglyceride counts), platelet parameters (mean platelet volume and plateletcrit), uric acid, lactate dehydrogenase, and total bile acids—were correlated with PE complicated by FGR. A total of six ANNs were constructed with the adoption of these parameters. The accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of predicting the occurrence of the following diseases and adverse outcomes were respectively as follows: 84.3%, 97.7%, and 78% for PE complicated by FGR; 76.3%, 97.3%, and 68% for provider-initiated preterm births,; 81.9%, 97.2%, and 51% for predicting the severity of FGR; 80.3%, 92.9%, and 79% for premature rupture of membranes; 80.1%, 92.3%, and 79% for postpartum hemorrhage; and 77.6%, 92.3%, and 76% for fetal distress. Conclusion: An ANN model based on maternal peripheral blood parameters has a good predictive value for the occurrence of PE complicated by FGR and its adverse perinatal outcomes, such as the severity of FGR and preterm births in these patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to investigate the correlation between changes in regional cerebral oxygen saturation (rSO2) and postoperative delirium in older adults undergoing major abdominal surgery. MATERIALS AND METHODS This prospective study enrolled older adults scheduled for elective major abdominal surgery at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from August 2021 to January 2022. The change in rSO2 from baseline was determined using the hypo-to-hypercapnic test. The main study outcome was the occurrence of postoperative delirium. RESULTS A total of 101 participants were included for analysis, of whom 16 (15.8%) developed postoperative delirium. Compared with non-delirium participants, the mean arterial pressure and heart rate were not significantly different in the postoperative delirium group at T0, T1, T2, T3, T4, and T6 (all Pinteraction > 0.05), but the delirium group had lower pH, lower PaO2, and higher lactate levels at T4, T5, and T6 (all Pinteraction < 0.05). rSO2 at T0, T1, T2, T3, T4, and T6 was 69.0 (63.2-75.2), 70.7 ± 7.3, 68.2 ± 7.5, 72.1 ± 8.0, 69.9 ± 7.8, 67.4 ± 7.2, and 71.7 ± 8.1, respectively. The postoperative change in rSO2 during the hypercapnia test (TΔrSO2%) was 6.62 (5.31-9.36). Multivariable analysis showed that the Cumulative Illness Rating Scale (odd ratio, OR = 1.89, 95% confidence interval, CI: 1.10-3.25, P = 0.021), preoperative albumin levels (OR = 0.67, 95% CI: 0.48-0.94, P = 0.022), rSO2 at T4 (OR = 0.61, 95% CI: 0.41-0.89, P = 0.010), and postoperative TΔrSO2% (OR = 0.80, 95% CI: 0.66-0.98, P = 0.028) were independently associated with postoperative delirium in older adults undergoing elective abdominal surgery. CONCLUSION The rSO2 measured at T4 and postoperative TΔrSO2% were independently associated with postoperative delirium in older adults undergoing elective abdominal surgery.

Abstract
With further climate change still expected, it is predicted to increase the frequency with plants will be water stressed, which subsequently influences phytophagous insects, particularly Lepidoptera with limited mobility of larvae. Previous studies have indicated that oviposition preference and offspring performance of Lepidoptera insects are sensitive to drought separately. However, the integration of their two properties is not always seen. Here, we evaluated changes in oviposition selection and offspring fitness of a Lepidoptera insect under three water-stressed treatments using a model agroecosystem consisting of maize Zea mays, and Asian corn borer Ostrinia furnacalis. Results found that female O. furnacalis preferred to laying their eggs on well-watered maize, and then their offspring tended to survive better, attained bigger larvae mass, and developed more pupae and adults on the preferred maize. Oviposition selection of O. furnacalis positively correlated with height and leaf traits of maize, and offspring fitness positively related with water content and phytochemical traits of hosts. Overall, these results suggest that oviposition choice performed by O. furnacalis reflects the maximization of offspring fitness, supporting preference-performance hypothesis. This finding further highlights that the importance of simultaneous evaluation of performance and performance for water driving forces should be involved, in order to accurately predict population size of O. furnacalis under altered precipitation pattern.

Abstract
Simple Summary Haloxylon spp. have been infested by various gall inducers, and natural enemies that impact pest populations must be understood to build integrated pest control strategies affecting pest dynamics. However, limited studies report on the gall inducers and parasitoids of flower-like galls on Haloxylon, as well as the parasitic efficacy of the parasitoids. This study aimed to determine the main gall inducers that induced flower-like galls on Haloxylon ammodendron and H. persicum, and the parasitoid complex associated with them. In total, five species of gall inducers and three species of parasitoids were obtained from three types of flower-like galls on Haloxylon. Further, the parasitization indexes, emergence, and lifespan of parasitoids were also discussed. The present study may serve as a basis for understanding the importance of biological investigations of parasitoids in the gall inducers living in flower-like galls, which is important for pest control and the conservation of the ecological environment in the Haloxylon forest. Abstract Saxaul is a kind of dominant perennial psammophyte that widely distributes in arid and semi-arid desert areas, and it has multiple functions in preventing desertification, especially in windbreak and sand fixation. Various gall inducers induce galls on the saxaul, including the flower-like gall. Parasitoids have great potentiality in controlling gall inducers. However, studies about gall inducers and parasitoids of flower-like galls on Haloxylon, as well as the parasitic efficacy of the parasitoids, are rarely reported. In this study, the flower-like galls were observed on Haloxylon ammodendron and H. persicum in Fukang, Xinjiang, China. Two types of flower-like galls were found on H. ammodendron, while only one type was found on H. persicum. In total, five species of gall inducers and three species of parasitoids were obtained from the galls mentioned above. All the galls were induced by Caillardia (Hemiptera: Aphalaridae), which were mostly bivoltine in Fukang. Besides, their parasitoids Psyllaephaguscaillardiae and P. longiventris could be observed on all the types of galls. Additionally, correlative studies on the parasitization indexes demonstrated that all the dominant parasitoids of diverse flower-like galls were P. caillardiae, which were slightly more in number than the P. ogazae discovered in the flower bud-like galls. In addition, the relevance between the emergence or lifespan of parasitoids and temperature was also investigated. The results showed that the number of parasitoids emerging decreased rapidly after a period of enhancement with the increase of temperature, including an optimum temperature, while the lifespan of wasps gradually shortened with the temperature rising. Our results highlight the importance of the biological investigation of parasitoids in the gall inducers lived in closed galls, which may provide critical evidence for us to understand its potential application in biological control.

Abstract
AIMS Both gefitinib and afatinib are epidermal growth factor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKI) in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It has been reported that gefitinib and afatinib could cause hepatotoxicity during the clinic treatment, therefore it is critical to investigate their hepatotoxicity systematically. In this study, zebrafish (Danio rerio) were used as model animals to compare the hepatotoxicity and their toxic mechanism. MAIN METHODS The zebrafish transgenic line [Tg (fabp10a: dsRed; ela3l:EGFP) was used in this study. After larvae developed at 3 days post fertilization (dpf), they were put into different concentrations of gefitinib and afatinib. At 6 dpf, the viability, liver area, fluorescence intensity, histopathology, apoptosis, transaminase reflecting liver function, the absorption of yolk sac, and the expression of relative genes were observed and analyzed respectively. KEY FINDINGS Both gefitinib and afatinib could induce the larvae hepatotoxicity dose-dependently. Based on the liver morphology, histopathology, apoptosis and function assessments, gefitinib showed higher toxicity, causing more serious liver damage. Both gefitinib and afatinib caused abnormal expressions of genes related to endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) pathway and apoptosis. For example, jnk, perk, bip, chop, ire1, bid, caspase3 and caspase9 were up-regulated, while xbp1s, grp78, bcl-2/bax, and caspase8 were down-regulated. The hepatotoxicity difference of gefitinib and afatinib might be due to the different expression level of related genes.

De-regulated STAT5A/miR-202-5p/USP15/Caspase-6 regulatory axis suppresses CML cell apoptosis and contributes to Imatinib resistance. JOURNAL OF EXPERIMENTAL & CLINICAL CANCER RESEARCH : CR 2020; 39:17. [PMID: 31952546 PMCID: PMC6969434 DOI: 10.1186/s13046-019-1502-7] [Citation(s) in RCA: 25] [Impact Index Per Article: 6.3] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 09/08/2019] [Accepted: 12/12/2019] [Indexed: 12/16/2022]
Abstract
BACKGROUND STAT5 plays an important role in the transformation of hematopoietic cells by BCR-ABL. However, the downstream target genes activated by STAT5 in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) cells remain largely unclear. Here, we investigated the mechanistic functional relationship between STAT5A-regulated microRNA and CML cell apoptosis. METHODS The expression of USP15, Caspase-6, STAT5A-regulated miR-202-5p and STAT5A was detected by qRT-PCR and Western blotting in CML cell lines and PBMCs of CML patients. Cell apoptosis was evaluated by flow cytometry. Both gain- and loss-of-function experiments were used to investigate the roles of USP15, miR-202-5p and STAT5A in CML. Luciferase reporter assay detected the effect of miR-202-5p on USP15 expression. Xenograft animal model was used to test the effect of anti-miR-202-5p and pimozide on K562 cell xenograft growth. RESULTS USP15 expression was significantly downregulated in CML cell lines and PBMCs of CML patients. Depletion of USP15 increased, whereas overexpression of USP15 reduced the resistance of CML cells to Imatinib. Further, decreased deubiquitinating activity of USP15 by USP15 downregulation led to reduced caspase-6 level, thus attenuating CML cell apoptosis. Mechanistically, miR-202-5p was upregulated in K562G cells and negatively regulated USP15 expression by directly targeting USP15 3'-UTR. Correspondingly, upregulation of miR-202-5p enhanced the resistance of CML cells to Imatinib by inhibiting cell apoptosis. Importantly, STAT5A was upregulated in CML cells and directly activated miR-202-5p transcription by binding to the pre-miR-202 promoter. Pimozide induced CML cell apoptosis and significantly reduced K562 cell xenograft growth in vivo by blocking STAT5A/miR-202-5p/USP15/Caspase-6 regulatory axis. CONCLUSIONS we provide the first evidence that de-regulated STAT5A/miR-202-5p/USP15/Caspase-6 regulatory axis suppresses the apoptosis of CML cells, targeting this pathway might be a promising therapeutic approach for the treatment of CML.

Abstract
Azo dyes are used widely as color additives in food, drugs, and cosmetics; hence, there is an increasing concern about their safety and possible health hazards. In the present study, we chose 4 azo dyes tartrazine, Sunset Yellow, amaranth, and Allura red and evaluated their developmental toxicity on zebrafish embryos. At concentration levels of 5 to 50 mM, we found that azo dyes can induce hatching difficulty and developmental abnormalities such as cardiac edema, decreased heart rate, yolk sac edema, and spinal defects including spinal curvature and tail distortion. Exposure to 100 mM of each azo dye was completely embryolethal. The median lethal concentration (LC50), median effective concentration (EC50), and teratogenic index (TI) were calculated for each azo dye at 72 hours postfertilization. For tartrazine, the LC50 was 47.10 mM and EC50 value was at 42.66 mM with TI ratio of 1.10. For Sunset Yellow, the LC50 was 38.93 mM and EC50 value was at 29.81 mM with TI ratio of 1.31. For amaranth, the LC50 was 39.86 mM and EC50 value was at 31.94 mM with TI ratio of 1.25. For Allura red, the LC50 was 47.42 mM and EC50 value was 40.05 mM with TI ratio of 1.18. This study reports the developmental toxicity of azo dyes in zebrafish embryos at concentrations higher than the expected human exposures from consuming food and drugs containing azo dyes.

Abstract
Objective: To understand the characteristics relating to the etiology and complications of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) based on data from the pilot National Sentinel Surveillance (NSS) program so as to explore the feasibility, advantages and disadvantages of the NSS. Methods: Data were extracted from the NSS system, conducted in 11 provinces of China from November 2015 to October 2016. Characteristics regarding the etiology, complications of HFMD and factors related to the positive rates of HFMD specimens were analyzed under the logistic regression method by SPSS 20.0 software. Results: A total of 4 783 specimens were collected, including 3 390 from mild, 1 390 from severe and 3 from death cases. The overall positive rate was 81.43% (3 895/4 783). Other enteroviruses (non EV71/Cox A16 enteroviruses) appeared the major serotype (52.68%, 1 482/2 813) for mild infection of the disease while EV71 was for the severe cases (65.31%, 706/1 081). The serotype spectrum revealed by the pilot NSS was almost identical with the existing surveillance system. Other enteroviruses tended to infect younger children (χ(2)=130.17, P<0.001) than EV71 and Cox A16, in China. The multivariate logistic regression results showed that higher positive rate was associated with specimens which were collected from males, at children' hospitals, in peak seasons, timely and in stools. The positive rates presented downwarding trends with the extension of the onset-sampling interval (χ(2)=14.47, P<0.001 in stool specimen; χ(2)=31.99, P<0.001 in throat swab; χ(2)=24.26, P<0.001 in anal swab). Aseptic meningitis, non-brainstem encephalitis and brainstem encephalitis appeared the top three complications of both EV71-associated and other enteroviruses-associated severe HFMD cases. Conclusions: Factors as gender, season/place/timeliness of specimen collection, and types of hospital all appeared independently influenced the positive rates. NSS seemed feasible to be used as an alternative or supplement tool to the existing surveillance program in China.

Abstract
Research on anticervical cancer is urgently required to enhance clinical outcomes. As a main anticancer drug for cervical carcinoma, cisplatin (CIS) has been used for a lot of years in clinical therapy. However, serious adverse effects including nephrotoxicity and neurotoxicity limit its long-term treatment. Our main goal of this study is to investigate the improvement of Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharides (GPS) on CIS-induced antitumor effect of in U14 cervical carcinoma-bearing mice. The results showed that GPS + CIS could not only inhibit the growth of the tumor but also improve the spleen and thymus indexes. Moreover, little toxicological effects were observed on hepatic function and renal function in GPS + CIS treated mice bearing U14 tumor cells. Further analysis of the tumor inhibition mechanism indicated that the number of apoptotic tumor cells increased significantly, the expression of Bax increased and the expression of Bcl-2 decreased dramatically in cervical cancer sections after oral administration of GPS + CIS for 14 days. This GPS/CIS combined therapy represents intriguing therapeutic strategy for U14 cervical carcinoma providing not only superior efficacy but also a higher safety level.

Lessons learned from an unusual condition of incidental synchronous multiple hernias of indirect inguinal hernia, femoral hernia, and incarcerated obturator hernia. Niger J Clin Pract 2019; 22:281-284. Abstract
Hernias are one of the most common diseases. The frequency of multiple hernias is much higher than the frequency reported during herniorrhaphy. Multiple hernias may account for some of the so-called recurrences, in which the small hernia may be veiled by the bigger one and omitted. In this study, we present a case of an 83-year-old female who suffered from multiple hernias namely a left-sided indirect inguinal hernia, a right-sided femoral hernia, and a right-sided incarcerated obturator hernia. Additionally, the characteristics and treatment of obturator hernia were discussed. Ultrasound and computed tomography (CT) are capable of accurately diagnosing groin hernia. Preoperative bilateral ultrasound of examinations or abdominopelvic CT should be recommended to perform routinely for patients with suspected hernias to avoid ignoring the concurrent hernias. A careful exploration of the operative field in the operation is mandatory. The CT is also helpful for early diagnosis of obturator hernia. In addition, the intra-abdominal approach through a low midline incision might be a preference for the treatment of obturator hernia.

T-lymphocyte subsets as a predictive biomarker for stroke-associated pneumonia. Am J Transl Res 2018; 10:4367-4375. [PMID: 30662678 PMCID: PMC6325496] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 06/10/2018] [Accepted: 11/11/2018] [Indexed: 06/09/2023]
Abstract
The aim of this study was to facilitate the clinical treatment and prognosis of stroke-associated pneumonia (SAP) by examining changes in T-lymphocyte subsets. Stroke patients admitted in Suzhou Hospital between 2014 and 2016 participated in the study. Patients were divided into a pneumonia group (50 patients) and a non-pneumonia group (254 patients) based on a diagnosis of pneumonia. Information regarding risk factors for ischemic stroke was collected from all patients using a questionnaire. Compared with non-SAP patients, SAP patients were older, dysphagic, smokers, had higher NIH stroke scale (NIHSS) scores and neutrophil: lymphocyte ratio, had higher leukocyte, neutrophil, and CD8 levels, had lower CD3, CD4, and lymphocyte levels, and had a lower CD4:CD8 ratio. Patients with a higher NIHSS score had higher CD8 levels, lower CD3 and CD4 levels, and a lower CD4:CD8 ratio. No significant differences in T-lymphocyte subsets were found between the left and right cerebral hemispheres. After adjusting for other variables, smoking, dysphagia, NIHSS score, and CD4:CD8 ratio were positively associated with SAP. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve for dysphagia, NIHSS score, CD4:CD8 ratio, CD4:CD8 ratio + NIHSS score, and Dysphagia+ CD4:CD8 ratio + NIHSS score were 0.583 (95% CI: 0.490-0.675), 0.791 (95% CI: 0.724-0.859), 0.676 (95% CI: 0.593-0.759), 0.846 (95% CI: 0.790-0.902), and 0.867 (95% CI: 0.815-0.918), respectively. A few T-lymphocyte subsets may increase susceptibility to pneumonia after acute ischemic stroke. Thus, the detection of T-lymphocyte subsets may predict the risk of SAP in such patients.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the role of σ1 receptor (σ1R) in the clinical prognosis of cervical cancer, and provide a theoretical basis for σ1R targeted molecular therapy through observing the inhibition of synthetic σ1R-specific ligand compounds on the growth of cervical cancer cells. Methods: (1) Immunohistochemical or immunocytochemistry staining were respectively used to detect the expression and localization of σ1R protein. (2) The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) data set was used to validate our results. (3) Two series of 4 novel σ1R ligand compounds were synthesized by altering the N-terminal substituents on the piperidine ring of the prezamicol analogue, named as 14a, 14e, 15c and 15f. Methyl thiazolyl-tetrazolium (MTT) assay was detect the anti-proliferative effect of the four compounds on HeLa and SiHa cells. Compound 14a with potent inhibitory activity and the highest specificity of σ1R was selected for further experiments. Scratch test was observed the migration effect of compound 14a on HeLa and SiHa cells. Flow cytometry was determined cell cycles and apoptosis. Results: (1) Immunostaining of σ1R protein was located in the cytoplasm and nucleus of cervical epithelium. The expression of cervical squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) was significantly higher than those of high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) or normal cervical tissues. There was no significant difference in the expression of σ1R between HSIL and normal cervical tissues. σ1R expression in cervical adenocarcinoma (AC) was higher than that in SCC (P=0.020). The nuclear expression rate of σ1R in AC (10/18) was higher than that of SCC (27.1%, 19/70; P=0.024). The median overall survival (MOS) of σ1R-positive SCC patients was lower than that of σ1R-negative patients [(45.8±3.1) vs (51.7±2.9) months, P=0.045]. MOS of the patients with σ1R nuclear positive SCC was lower than that of non-nuclear staining [(38.9±3.8) vs (48.7±2.1) months, P=0.022]. MOS of the patients with σ1R nuclear positive AC was lower than that of non-nuclear staining [(35.0±6.3) vs (44.2±4.2) months, P=0.034]. (2) Analysis of TCGA data showed that σ1R expression of in SCC was correlated with age (P=0.005). σ1R expression in AC was significantly associated with advanced stage, lymphnode metastasis and vascular invasion (all P<0.05). MOS of AC patients with σ1R overexpression was significantly lower than that of the patients with low expression (P=0.034). There was no significant difference in the MOS of different expression of σ1R mRNA in SCC patients(P=0.930). (3) MTT assay showed that these four compounds could suppressed the growth of HeLa and SiHa cells in time- and dose-dependent manner. The growth inhibition rates of HeLa and SiHa cells at 48 hours treated by combination of different concentrations of nedaplatin (NDP) with compound 14a (6 μmol/L) were significantly higher than those treated by NDP alone. Compound 14a (30 μmol/L) significantly inhibited the migration (both P<0.01) and induced the apoptosis of HeLa or SiHa cells (both P<0.01). Conclusions: σ1R is over-expressed in cervical cancer and HSIL. σ1R nuclear expression is an important marker of AC. σ1R over-expression, especially σ1R nuclear expression is associated with the poor prognosis of cervical cancer. Our study is mostly consistent with cervical cancer data of TCGA. These results suggest that the novel synthetic prezamicol analogues 14a for σ1R could inhibit the growth of cervical cancer cells and cell migration through inducing apoptosis and arresting cell cycle in G(0)/G(1) period, enhance NDP-induced cytotoxicity.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical severity, etiological classification and risk factors of severe cases with hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD). Methods: A total of 1 489 records on severe and fatal HFMD cases reported to the national pilot surveillance system of HFMD were used to analyze the demographic, medical treatment, etiological classification of the cases. Treatment outcome related risk factors were also studied with multi-variable stepwise logistic regression method. Results: Seven out of the 1 489 severe HFMD cases died of this disease. A total of 960 (72.9%) were under three years old and 62.9% were male and most of the cases (937, 62.9%) resided in rural areas. Among all the cases, 494 (33.2%) went to seek the first medical assistance at the institutions of village or township level. Durations between disease onset and first medical attendance, being diagnosed as the disease or diagnosed as severe cases were 0(0-1) d, 1 (0-2) d and 2 (1-4) d, respectively. In total, 773 (51.9%) of the severe HFMD cases were diagnosed as with aseptic meningitis, 260 (17.5%) with brainstem encephalitis, 377 (25.3%) with non-brainstem encephalitis, 6 (0.4%) with encephalomyelitis, 1 (0.1%) with acute flaccid paralysis, 4 (0.3%) with pulmonary hemorrhage/pulmonary edema and 68 (4.6%) with cardiopulmonary failure. Of the etiologically diagnosed 1 217 severe and fatal HFMD cases, 642 (52.8%) were with EV71, other enterovirus 261 (21.5%), Cox A16 36 (3.0%), 1 (0.1%) with both EV71 and Cox A16. However, 277 (22.8%) showed negative on any pathogenic virus. Complication (Z=3.15, P=0.002) and duration between onset and diagnosed as severe cases (Z=3.95, P<0.001) were shown as key factors related to treatment outcomes. Conclusions: Most severe HFMD cases appeared in boys, especially living in the rural areas. Frequently seen complications would include aseptic meningitis, non-brainstem encephalitis and brainstem encephalitis. EV71 was the dominant etiology for severe and fatal cases. Early diagnosis and complication control were crucial, related to the treatment outcome of HFMD.

Abstract
2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) is widely used in agriculture as herbicide/pesticide, plant growth regulator and fruit preservative agent. It progressively accumulates in the environment including surface water, air and soil. It could be detected in human food and urine, which poses great risk to the living organisms. In the present study, we investigated the developmental toxicity of 2,4-D on zebrafish (Danio rerio) embryo. 2,4-D exposure significantly decreased both the survival rate (LC50 = 46.71 mg/L) and hatching rate (IC50 = 46.26 mg/L) of zebrafish embryos. The most common developmental defect in 2,4-D treated embryos was pericardial edema. 2,4-D (25 mg/L) upregulated marker genes of cardiac development (vmhc, amhc, hand2, vegf, and gata1) and downregulated marker genes of oxidative stress (cat and gpx1a). Whole mount in situ hybridization confirmed the vmhc and amhc upregulation by 2,4-D treatment. LC/MS/MS showed that the bioaccumulation of 2,4-D in zebrafish embryos were increased in a time-dependent manner after 25 mg/L of 2,4-D treatment. Taken together, our study investigated the toxic effects of 2,4-D on zebrafish embryonic development and its potential molecular mechanisms, gave evidence for the full understanding of 2,4-D toxicity on living organisms and shed light on its environmental impact.

Changes in flowering functional group affect responses of community phenological sequences to temperature change. Ecology 2017; 98:734-740. Abstract
Our ability to predict how temperature modifies phenology at the community scale is limited by our lack of understanding of responses by functional groups of flowering plants. These responses differ among species with different life histories. We performed a reciprocal transplant experiment along four elevation gradients (e.g., 3,200, 3,400, 3,600 and 3,800 m) to investigate the effects of warming (transferred downward) and cooling (transferred upward) on plant flowering functional groups (FFGs) and community phenological sequences (i.e., seven phenological events). Warming significantly decreased early-spring-flowering (ESF) plant coverage and increased mid-summer-flowering plant (MSF) coverage, while cooling had the opposite effect. All community phenological events were advanced by warming and delayed by cooling except for the date of complete leaf-coloring, which showed the opposite response. Warming and cooling could cause greater advance or delay in early-season phenological events of the community through increased coverage of MSF species, and warming could delay late-season phenological events of the community by increased coverage of ESF species. These results suggested that coverage change of FFGs in the community induced by temperature change could mediate the responses of the community phenological events to temperature change in the future. The response of phenological events to temperature change at the species level may not be sufficient to predict phenological responses at the community-level due to phenological compensation between species in the community.

Abstract
With the increasing use of mycophenolic acid (MPA) in solid organ transplantation, some clinical studies indicate that it is also a human teratogen. However, it is unknown by which mechanism MPA acts as a teratogen. Mycophenolic acid was a selective blocker of de novo purine synthesis, and its immunosuppressive effect is mediated by the inhibition of inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase, which could be a target for MPA-induced toxicity as well. The aim of our study was to examine the direct influence of MPA exposure on zebrafish ( Danio rerio) embryos. Morphological defects including tail curvature and severe pericardial edema in zebrafish embryos caused by MPA (3.7-11.1 µmol/L) were found in a dose-dependent manner. The teratogenic index (25% lethal concentration value (LC25)/no observed adverse effect level ratio) was 16, which indicated MPA as a teratogen. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction analysis revealed that the expression level of impdh1b and impdh2 was significantly reduced by MPA treatment at 8 µmol/L (equals to LC25 level). All the toxic effects could be partially reversed by the addition of 33.3 µmol/L guanosine. Our results indicated that MPA impairs the development of zebrafish embryos via inhibition of impdh activity, which subsequently caused a guanosine nucleotide depletion in vivo.

Genetic and epigenetic diversity and structure of Phragmites australis from local habitats of the Songnen Prairie using amplified fragment length polymorphism markers. Abstract
The genetic and epigenetic diversity and structure of naturally occurring Phragmites australis populations occupying two different habitats on a small spatial scale in the Songnen Prairie in northeastern China were investigated by assessing amplified fragment length polymorphisms (AFLPs) and methylation-sensitive amplified polymorphisms (MSAPs) through fluorescent capillary detection. The two groups of P. australis were located in a seasonal waterlogged low-lying and alkalized meadow with a pH of 8-8.5 and in an alkaline patch without accumulated rainwater and with a pH greater than 10. These groups showed high levels of genetic diversity at the habitat level based on the percentage of polymorphic bands (90.32, 82.56%), Nei's gene diversity index (0.262, 0.248), and the Shannon diversity index (0.407, 0.383). Although little is known about the between-habitat genetic differentiation of P. australis on a small spatial scale, our results implied significant genetic differentiation between habitats. Extensive epigenetic diversity within habitats, along with clear differentiation, was found. Specifically, the former habitat (Habitat 1, designated H1) harbored higher levels of genetic and epigenetic diversity than the latter (Habitat 2, designated H2), and population-level diversity was also high. This study represents one of few attempts to predict habitat-based genetic differentiation of reeds on a small scale. These assessments of genetic and epigenetic variation are integral aspects of molecular ecological studies on P. australis. Possible causes for within- and between-habitat genetic and epigenetic variations are discussed.

Abstract
Thyrotropin receptor (TSHR) is a G-protein-coupled receptor that regulates the synthesis, storage, and secretion of thyroid hormones in the thyroid tissue. The aims of the present study were to characterize the full-length TSHR cDNA in largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides), and to determine the TSHR gene transcription levels in different tissues. In addition, the response of TSHR transcription levels to daily feeding in thyroid tissue was investigated. The results showed that the full-length cDNA sequence was 2743 bp with an open reading frame of 2340 bp encoding a 779-amino acid peptide. BLAST analysis indicated that the amino acid sequence displayed 58.4-90.2% identity and 5.6-125.8 divergence, compared with other known fish species. The most abundant TSHR transcription levels were found in the spleen, head kidney, and kidney. Feeding did not affect the transcription level of TSHR in thyroid tissue over the course of the day. Thus, the current study suggests that there was no relationship between daily nutritional status and TSHR transcription level in the thyroid tissue of largemouth bass. The spleen, head kidney, and kidney exhibited the most abundant TSHR transcription levels.

Gambogic acid causes fin developmental defect in zebrafish embryo partially via retinoic acid signaling. Reprod Toxicol 2016; 63:161-8. Abstract
Gambogic acid (GA), the major active ingredient of gamboge, has been approved by the Chinese Food and Drug Administration for clinical trials in cancer patients due to its strong anticancer activity. However, our previous research showed that GA was teratogenic against zebrafish fin development. To explore the teratogenicity and the underlying mechanisms, zebrafish (Danio rerio) embryos were used. The morphological observations revealed that GA caused fin defects in zebrafish embryos in a concentration-dependent manner. The critical exposure time of GA to reveal teratogenicity was before 8 hpf (hours post fertilization). LC/MS/MS analysis revealed that a maximum bioconcentration of GA was occurred at 4 hpf. Q-PCR data showed that GA treatment resulted in significant inactivation of RA signaling which could be partially rescued by the exogenous supply of RA. These results indicate the potential teratogenicity of GA and provide evidence for a caution in its future clinic use.

Abstract
We report a study of the process e^{+}e^{-}→(D^{*}D[over ¯]^{*})^{0}π^{0} using e^{+}e^{-} collision data samples with integrated luminosities of 1092 pb^{-1} at sqrt[s]=4.23 GeV and 826 pb^{-1} at sqrt[s]=4.26 GeV collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. We observe a new neutral structure near the (D^{*}D[over ¯]^{*})^{0} mass threshold in the π^{0} recoil mass spectrum, which we denote as Z_{c}(4025)^{0}. Assuming a Breit-Wigner line shape, its pole mass and pole width are determined to be (4025.5_{-4.7}^{+2.0}±3.1) MeV/c^{2} and (23.0±6.0±1.0) MeV, respectively. The Born cross sections of e^{+}e^{-}→Z_{c}(4025)^{0}π^{0}→(D^{*}D[over ¯]^{*})^{0}π^{0} are measured to be (61.6±8.2±9.0) pb at sqrt[s]=4.23 GeV and (43.4±8.0±5.4) pb at sqrt[s]=4.26 GeV. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.

Abstract
Using a data sample collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, we observe a new neutral state Z_{c}(3900)^{0} with a significance of 10.4σ. The mass and width are measured to be 3894.8±2.3±3.2 MeV/c^{2} and 29.6±8.2±8.2 MeV, respectively, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. The Born cross section for e^{+}e^{-}→π^{0}π^{0}J/ψ and the fraction of it attributable to π^{0}Z_{c}(3900)^{0}→π^{0}π^{0}J/ψ in the range E_{c.m.}=4.19-4.42 GeV are also determined. We interpret this state as the neutral partner of the four-quark candidate Z_{c}(3900)^{±}.

Abstract
We report an observation of the process J/ψ→γX(1835)→γK_{S}^{0}K_{S}^{0}η at low K_{S}^{0}K_{S}^{0} mass with a statistical significance larger than 12.9σ using a data sample of 1.31×10^{9} J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector. In this region of phase space the K_{S}^{0}K_{S}^{0} system is dominantly produced through the f_{0}(980). By performing a partial wave analysis, we determine the spin parity of the X(1835) to be J^{PC}=0^{-+}. The mass and width of the observed X(1835) are 1844±9(stat)_{-25}^{+16}(syst) MeV/c^{2} and 192_{-17}^{+20}(stat)_{-43}^{+62}(syst) MeV, respectively, which are consistent with the results obtained by BESIII in the channel J/ψ→γπ^{+}π^{-}η^{'}.

Abstract
The CH3I structural deformation induced by strong laser fields is revealed by time- and frequency-resolved ro-vibrational spectra. The experimental results show that the CH3I molecule undergoes ultrafast structural deformation of CH3 "umbrella-closing" induced by the strong fs laser field (more than 10(11) W/cm(2)) and followed by a structural relaxation of "umbrella-opening" within an exponential decay time scale of ∼620 fs. This study provides a first glimpse of the immense potential of the time- and frequency-resolved vibrational spectra in studying molecular deformation dynamics.

Abstract
We report the observation of the X(3823) state in the process e+e-→π+π-X(3823)→π+π-γχc1 with a statistical significance of 6.2σ, in data samples at center-of-mass energies sqrt[s]=4.230, 4.260, 4.360, 4.420, and 4.600 GeV collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII electron positron collider. The measured mass of the X(3823) state is (3821.7±1.3±0.7) MeV/c2, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic, and the width is less than 16 MeV at the 90% confidence level. The products of the Born cross sections for e+e-→π+π-X(3823) and the branching ratio B[X(3823)→γχc1,c2] are also measured. These measurements are in good agreement with the assignment of the X(3823) state as the ψ(1 3D2) charmonium state.

Study of e(+)e(-)→ωχ(cJ) at center of mass energies from 4.21 to 4.42 GeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2015; 114:092003. Abstract
Based on data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at nine center of mass energies from 4.21 to 4.42 GeV, we search for the production of e^{+}e^{-}→ωχ_{cJ} (J=0, 1, 2). The process e^{+}e^{-}→ωχ_{c0} is observed for the first time, and the Born cross sections at sqrt[s]=4.23 and 4.26 GeV are measured to be (55.4±6.0±5.9) and (23.7±5.3±3.5) pb, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The ωχ_{c0} signals at the other seven energies and the e^{+}e^{-}→ωχ_{c1} and ωχ_{c2} signals are not significant, and the upper limits on the cross sections are determined. By examining the ωχ_{c0} cross section as a function of center of mass energy, we find that it is inconsistent with the line shape of the Y(4260) observed in e^{+}e^{-}→π^{+}π^{-}J/ψ. Assuming the ωχ_{c0} signals come from a single resonance, we extract the mass and width of the resonance to be (4230±8±6) MeV/c^{2} and (38±12±2) MeV, respectively, and the statistical significance is more than 9σ.

Abstract
Using data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider at center-of-mass energies of sqrt[s]=4.23, 4.26, and 4.36 GeV, we observe e(+)e(-)→π(0)π(0)hc for the first time. The Born cross sections are measured and found to be about half of those of e(+)e(-)→π(+)π(-)hc within less than 2σ. In the π(0)hc mass spectrum, a structure at 4.02 GeV/c(2) is found. It is most likely to be the neutral isospin partner of the Zc(4020)(±) observed in the process of e(+)e(-)→π(+)π(-)hc being found. A fit to the π(0)hc invariant mass spectrum, with the width of the Zc(4020)(0) fixed to that of its charged isospin partner and possible interferences with non-Zc(4020)(0) amplitudes neglected, gives a mass of (4023.9±2.2±3.8) MeV/c(2) for the Zc(4020)(0), where the first error is statistical and the second systematic.

Association between FOXP3 promoter polymorphisms and cancer risk: A meta-analysis. Oncol Lett 2014; 8:2795-2799. Abstract
Epidemiological studies have been conducted to investigate the association between the FOXP3 promoter polymorphisms, rs3761549 and rs3761548, and the risk of cancer. However, the results from these studies have been controversial. In order to obtain a more precise conclusion of this association, the present meta-analysis was performed. The odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) values were used to assess any correlations between the data. Overall, the rs3761549 (C>T) and rs3761548 (C>A) polymorphisms of the FOXP3 gene were not associated with the cancer risk in an Asian population. In the subgroup analyses based on cancer type, no significant associations were identified between these two polymorphisms and breast cancer. However, the results altered when the analyses were restricted to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) (for rs3761549: TT+CT vs. CC OR, 0.52, 95% CI, 0.38-0.72; TC vs. CC OR, 0.25, 95% CI, 0.16-0.39; T vs. C OR, 0.76, 95% CI, 0.59-0.97. For rs3761548: AA vs. AC+CC OR, 3.20, 95% CI 1.76-5.81; AA+AC vs. CC OR, 2.56, 95% CI, 1.75-3.76; AA vs. CC OR, 4.41, 95% CI, 2.36-8.25; AC vs. CC OR, 2.15, 95% CI, 1.42-3.25; A vs. C OR, 2.32, 95% CI, 1.74-3.10). The present meta-analysis indicates that the FOXP3 rs3761549 (C>T) and rs3761548 (C>A) polymorphisms are not associated with the risk of breast cancer, but with the risk of HCC and NSCLC. Therefore, a study with a larger sample size is required to further evaluate this association.

Abstract
We study the process e+ e- →(D* D*)± π∓ at a center-of-mass energy of 4.26 GeV using a 827 pb(-1) data sample obtained with the BESIII detector at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider. Based on a partial reconstruction technique, the Born cross section is measured to be (137±9±15) pb. We observe a structure near the (D* D*)± threshold in the π∓ recoil mass spectrum, which we denote as the Zc±(4025). The measured mass and width of the structure are (4026.3±2.6±3.7) MeV/c2 and (24.8±5.6±7.7) MeV, respectively. Its production ratio σ(e+ e- → Zc±(4025)π∓ → (D* D*)± π∓)/σ(e+ e- → (D* D*)± π∓) is determined to be 0.65±0.09±0.06. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.

Observation of a charged (DD*)± mass peak in e+ e- → πDD* at sqrt[s] = 4.26 GeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2014; 112:022001. Abstract
We report on a study of the process e+ e- → π± (DD*)∓ at sqrt[s] = 4.26 GeV using a 525 pb(-1) data sample collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. A distinct charged structure is observed in the (DD*)∓ invariant mass distribution. When fitted to a mass-dependent-width Breit-Wigner line shape, the pole mass and width are determined to be Mpole = (3883.9±1.5(stat)±4.2(syst)) MeV/c2 and Γpole = (24.8±3.3(stat)±11.0(syst)) MeV. The mass and width of the structure, which we refer to as Zc(3885), are 2σ and 1σ, respectively, below those of the Zc(3900) → π± J/ψ peak observed by BESIII and Belle in π+ π- J/ψ final states produced at the same center-of-mass energy. The angular distribution of the πZc(3885) system favors a JP = 1+ quantum number assignment for the structure and disfavors 1- or 0-. The Born cross section times the DD* branching fraction of the Zc(3885) is measured to be σ(e+ e- → π± Zc(3885)∓)×B(Zc(3885)∓ → (DD*)∓) = (83.5±6.6(stat)±22.0(syst)) pb. Assuming the Zc(3885) → DD* signal reported here and the Zc(3900) → πJ/ψ signal are from the same source, the partial width ratio (Γ(Zc(3885) → DD*)/Γ(Zc(3900) → πJ/ψ)) = 6.2±1.1(stat)±2.7(syst) is determined.

Observation of a charged charmoniumlike structure Zc(4020) and search for the Zc(3900) in e+e-→π+π-hc. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2013; 111:242001. Abstract
We study e+e-→π+π-hc at center-of-mass energies from 3.90 to 4.42 GeV by using data samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider. The Born cross sections are measured at 13 energies and are found to be of the same order of magnitude as those of e+e-→π+π-J/ψ but with a different line shape. In the π±hc mass spectrum, a distinct structure, referred to as Zc(4020), is observed at 4.02 GeV/c2. The Zc(4020) carries an electric charge and couples to charmonium. A fit to the π±hc invariant mass spectrum, neglecting possible interferences, results in a mass of (4022.9±0.8±2.7) MeV/c2 and a width of (7.9±2.7±2.6) MeV for the Zc(4020), where the first errors are statistical and the second systematic. The difference between the parameters of this structure and the Zc(4025) observed in the D*D[over ¯]* final state is within 1.5σ, but whether they are the same state needs further investigation. No significant Zc(3900) signal is observed, and upper limits on the Zc(3900) production cross sections in π±hc at center-of-mass energies of 4.23 and 4.26 GeV are set.
