Abstract
An amplitude analysis of the B^{0}→K^{*0}μ^{+}μ^{-} decay is presented using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb^{-1} of pp collision data collected with the LHCb experiment. For the first time, the coefficients associated to short-distance physics effects, sensitive to processes beyond the standard model, are extracted directly from the data through a q^{2}-unbinned amplitude analysis, where q^{2} is the μ^{+}μ^{-} invariant mass squared. Long-distance contributions, which originate from nonfactorizable QCD processes, are systematically investigated, and the most accurate assessment to date of their impact on the physical observables is obtained. The pattern of measured corrections to the short-distance couplings is found to be consistent with previous analyses of b- to s-quark transitions, with the largest discrepancy from the standard model predictions found to be at the level of 1.8 standard deviations. The global significance of the observed differences in the decay is 1.4 standard deviations.

Abstract
Vitis vinifera L. possesses high economic value, but its growth and yield are seriously affected by salt stress. Though melatonin (MT) has been widely reported to enhance tolerance towards abiotic stresses in plants, the regulatory role melatonin plays in resisting salt tolerance in grapevines has scarcely been studied. Here, we observed the phenotypes under the treatment of different melatonin concentrations, and then transcriptome and metabolome analyses were performed. A total of 457 metabolites were detected in CK- and MT-treated cell cultures at 1 WAT (week after treatment) and 4 WATs. Exogenous melatonin treatment significantly increased the endogenous melatonin content while down-regulating the flavonoid content. To be specific, the melatonin content was obviously up-regulated, while the contents of more than a dozen flavonoids were down-regulated. Auxin response genes and melatonin synthesis-related genes were regulated by the exogenous melatonin treatment. WGCNA (weighted gene coexpression network analysis) identified key salt-responsive genes; they were directly or indirectly involved in melatonin synthesis and auxin response. The synergistic effect of salt and melatonin treatment was investigated by transcriptome analysis, providing additional evidence for the stress-alleviating properties of melatonin through auxin-related pathways. The present study explored the impact of exogenous melatonin on grapevines' ability to adapt to salt stress and provided novel insights into enhancing their tolerance to salt stress.

Abstract
The first observation of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}K^{+} and Ω_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}π^{+} decays is reported, using proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb^{-1}, collected with the LHCb detector between 2016 and 2018. The branching fraction ratios are measured to be B(Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}K^{+})/B(Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}π^{+})=[6.08±0.51(stat)±0.40(syst)]%,B(Ω_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}π^{+})/B(Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}π^{+})=[15.81±0.87(stat)±0.44(syst)±0.16(ext)]%. In addition, using the Ω_{c}^{0}→Ω^{-}π^{+} decay channel, the Ω_{c}^{0} baryon mass is measured to be M(Ω_{c}^{0})=2695.28±0.07(stat)±0.27(syst)±0.30(ext) MeV, improving the precision of the previous world average by a factor of 4.

Abstract
The production rate of Λ_{b}^{0} baryons relative to B^{0} mesons in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy sqrt[s]=13 TeV is measured by the LHCb experiment. The ratio of Λ_{b}^{0} to B^{0} production cross sections shows a significant dependence on both the transverse momentum and the measured charged-particle multiplicity. At low multiplicity, the ratio measured at LHCb is consistent with the value measured in e^{+}e^{-} collisions, and increases by a factor of ∼2 with increasing multiplicity. At relatively low transverse momentum, the ratio of Λ_{b}^{0} to B^{0} cross sections is higher than what is measured in e^{+}e^{-} collisions, but converges with the e^{+}e^{-} ratio as the momentum increases. These results imply that the evolution of heavy b quarks into final-state hadrons is influenced by the density of the hadronic environment produced in the collision. Comparisons with several models and implications for the mechanisms enforcing quark confinement are discussed.

Abstract
The decay-time-dependent CP asymmetry in B_{s}^{0}→J/ψ(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K^{+}K^{-} decays is measured using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb^{-1}, collected with the LHCb detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. Using a sample of approximately 349 000 B_{s}^{0} signal decays with an invariant K^{+}K^{-} mass in the vicinity of the ϕ(1020) resonance, the CP-violating phase ϕ_{s} is measured, along with the difference in decay widths of the light and heavy mass eigenstates of the B_{s}^{0}-B[over ¯]_{s}^{0} system, ΔΓ_{s}, and the difference of the average B_{s}^{0} and B^{0} meson decay widths, Γ_{s}-Γ_{d}. The values obtained are ϕ_{s}=-0.039±0.022±0.006 rad, ΔΓ_{s}=0.0845±0.0044±0.0024 ps^{-1}, and Γ_{s}-Γ_{d}=-0.0056_{-0.0015}^{+0.0013}±0.0014 ps^{-1}, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. These are the most precise single measurements to date and are consistent with expectations based on the Standard Model and with the previous LHCb analyses of this decay. These results are combined with previous independent LHCb measurements. The phase ϕ_{s} is also measured independently for each polarization state of the K^{+}K^{-} system and shows no evidence for polarization dependence.

Abstract
Climate dictates wildfire activity around the world. But East and Southeast Asia are an apparent exception as fire-activity variation there is unrelated to climatic variables. In subtropical China, fire activity decreased by 80% between 2003 and 2020 amid increased fire risks globally. Here, we assessed the fire regime, vegetation structure, fuel flammability and their interactions across subtropical Hubei, China. We show that tree basal area (TBA) and fuel flammability explained 60% of fire-frequency variance. Fire frequency and fuel flammability, in turn, explained 90% of TBA variance. These results reveal a novel system of scrubland-forest stabilized by vegetation-fire feedbacks. Frequent fires promote the persistence of derelict scrubland through positive vegetation-fire feedbacks; in forest, vegetation-fire feedbacks are negative and suppress fire. Thus, we attribute the decrease in wildfire activity to reforestation programs that concurrently increase forest coverage and foster negative vegetation-fire feedbacks that suppress wildfire.

Abstract
A measurement of time-dependent CP violation in the decays of B^{0} and B[over ¯]^{0} mesons to the final states J/ψ(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K_{S}^{0}, ψ(2S)(→μ^{+}μ^{-})K_{S}^{0} and J/ψ(→e^{+}e^{-})K_{S}^{0} with K_{S}^{0}→π^{+}π^{-} is presented. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb^{-1} collected at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13 TeV with the LHCb detector. The CP-violation parameters are measured to be S_{ψK_{S}^{0}}=0.717±0.013(stat)±0.008(syst) and C_{ψK_{S}^{0}}=0.008±0.012(stat)±0.003(syst). This measurement of S_{ψK_{S}^{0}} represents the most precise single measurement of the CKM angle β to date and is more precise than the current world average. In addition, measurements of the CP-violation parameters of the individual channels are reported and a combination with the LHCb Run 1 measurements is performed.

Abstract
Ethanol engages cholinergic signaling and elicits endogenous acetylcholine release. Acetylcholine input to the midbrain originates from the mesopontine tegmentum (MPT), which is composed of the laterodorsal tegmentum (LDT) and the pedunculopontine tegmental nucleus (PPN). We investigated the effect of acute and chronic ethanol administration on cholinergic and glutamatergic neuron activation in the PPN and LDT in male and female mice. We show that ethanol activates neurons of the PPN and not the LDT in male mice. Chronic 15 daily injections of 2 g/kg ethanol induced Fos expression in cholinergic and glutamatergic PPN neurons in male mice, whereas ethanol did not increase cholinergic and glutamatergic neuronal activation in the LDT. A single acute 4 g/kg injection, but not a single 2 g/kg injection, induced cholinergic neuron activation in the male PPN but not the LDT. In contrast, acute or chronic ethanol at either dose or duration had no effect on the activation of cholinergic or glutamatergic neurons in the MPT of female mice. Female mice had higher baseline level of activation in cholinergic neurons compared with males. We also found a population of co-labeled cholinergic and glutamatergic neurons in the PPN and LDT which were highly active in the saline- and ethanol-treated groups in both sexes. These findings illustrate the complex differential effects of ethanol across dose, time point, MPT subregion and sex.

Abstract
Background Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) is increasingly becoming the recommended treatment for locally advanced gastric cancer (LAGC) with promising results. According to previous reports, few studies have evaluated the benefits of laparoscopic gastrectomy (LG) after NACT. Methods 135 patients from our center who underwent gastrectomy with NACT were available, including 41 patients of LG and 94 OG between July 2018 and July 2022. To reduce selection bias, we used the nearest neighbor method and set caliper = 0.2 for 3:1 matching between LG and OG groups for propensity score matching method (PSM). After PSM, the matched 41 patients with LG and 80 patients with OG formed the cohort, respectively. Univariate and multivariate Cox analyses were performed on all variables to determine independent risk factors associated with survival. Results LG had a longer operating time compared to OG [260.00 min (220.00 min, 300.00 min) vs. 200.00 min (160.00 min, 260 min), P < 0.001]. The estimated blood loss, metastatic lymph nodes (LN), total LN examined, postoperative hospital stays, blood transfusion (P>0.05) and the incidence of postoperative complications did not show statistical differences from the OG group (P = 0.084). The type of surgery (LG vs. OG) did not show a significant risk propensity in the univariate and multivariate Cox analysis (HR = 0.69, P = 0.36, 95 % CI: 0.31-1.53). Through the Kaplan-Meier curves, a certain trend showed that the LG group had a better long-term survival outcomes than the OG group, although there was no statistical difference between two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion LG is a promising treatment option for LAGC patients receiving NACT and had an acceptable safety and efficacy compared to OG.

Abstract
The first observation and study of two new baryonic structures in the final state Ξ_{b}^{0}π^{+}π^{-} and the confirmation of the Ξ_{b}(6100)^{-} state in the Ξ_{b}^{-}π^{+}π^{-} decay mode are reported using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb^{-1}. In addition, the properties of the known Ξ_{b}^{*0}, Ξ_{b}^{'-} and Ξ_{b}^{*-} resonances are measured with improved precision. The new decay mode of the Ξ_{b}^{0} baryon to the Ξ_{c}^{+} π^{-} π^{+} π^{-} final state is observed and exploited for the first time in these measurements.

Abstract
A flavor-tagged time-dependent angular analysis of the decay B_{s}^{0}→ϕϕ is performed using pp collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at the center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb^{-1}. The CP-violating phase and direct CP-violation parameter are measured to be ϕ_{s}^{ss[over ¯]s}=-0.042±0.075±0.009 rad and |λ|=1.004±0.030±0.009, respectively, assuming the same values for all polarization states of the ϕϕ system. In these results, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. These parameters are also determined separately for each polarization state, showing no evidence for polarization dependence. The results are combined with previous LHCb measurements using pp collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, yielding ϕ_{s}^{ss[over ¯]s}=-0.074±0.069 rad and |λ|=1.009±0.030. This is the most precise study of time-dependent CP violation in a penguin-dominated B meson decay. The results are consistent with CP symmetry and with the standard model predictions.

Abstract
Objective: To study the effect and mechanism of post-ischemic treatment of nalmefene in alleviating the lung ischemia-reperfusion injury by inhibiting ferroptosis through activation of the Sirt 1/Nrf 2/HO-1 axis. Methods: A total of 60 rats were randomly divided into six groups equally (n=10): the sham group, the model group(I/R), the nalmefene group, the nalmefene+EX527 group, the nalmefene+ML385 group, the nalmefene+Fe-citrate group (nalmefene+Fe group). The sham group without drug treatment was not treated with ischemia-reperfusion. The pulmonary ischemia-reperfusion model was established by occlusion of the left pulmonary hilum in the model group without drug treatment. After ischemic treatment, the nalmefene group was injected with nalmefene (15 μg/kg) via the tail vein at 5 minutes before reperfusion. The nalmefene+EX527 group, the nalmefene+ML385 group, and the nalmefene+Fe group were injected intraperitoneally with EX527 (5 mg/kg), ML385 (30 mg/kg), Fe-citrate(15 mg/kg), respectively, 2 h before moulding and then injected with nalmefene (15 μg/kg) via the tail vein at 5 minutes before reperfusion. All rats were sacrificed three hours after reperfusion, and the specimens from the upper lobe of the left lung tissue were preserved. The degree of lung tissue injury and the wet/dry weight ratio were assessed in each group of rats. Fe 2+, MDA, TNF-α, and IL-6 content, GSH activity and the expression levels of Sirt1, Nrf2, HO-1, ACSL4 and GPX4 were determined. Results: Compared with the sham group, the wet/dry weight ratio, lung tissue injury score, ACSL 4 expression level, Fe 2+, TNF-α, IL-6 and MDA content, Sirt 1, Nrf 2, HO-1 messenger RNA and protein expression levels were significantly increased (P<0.01), while GPX 4 expression level and GSH activity were significantly decreased in the model group (P<0.01). Compared with the model group, wet/dry weight ratio, lung tissue injury score, ACSL 4 expression level, Fe 2+, TNF-α, IL-6, and MDA content decreased significantly (P<0.01), Nrf 2, HO-1 messenger RNA and protein, GPX 4 expression, and GSH activity were significantly increased in the nalmefene group and the nalmefene+EX527 group (P<0.01). Sirt 1 messenger RNA and protein expression increased significantly in the nalmefene (P<0.01) and the nalmefene+EX527 groups (P>0.05). In the nalmefene+ML385 group, the wet/dry weight ratio, lung tissue injury score, TNF-α and IL-6 content were decreased significantly (P<0.01), while Sirt 1 messenger RNA and protein expression levels were significantly increased (P<0.01), but there were no significant changes in Nrf 2, HO-1 messenger RNA and protein expression levels, ACSL 4 and GPX 4 expression levels, Fe 2+, MDA content, and GSH activity (P>0.05). In the nalmefene+Fe group, wet/dry weight ratio, lung-injury score, TNF-α, IL-6, MDA content were decreased significantly (P<0.01), messenger RNA and protein expression levels of Sirt 1, Nrf 2, HO-1, and GSH activity were increased significantly (P<0.01), but there were no significant changes in Fe 2+content, ACSL 4 and GPX 4 expression levels (P>0.05). Compared with the nalmefene group, in the nalmefene+EX527 group, the nalmefene+ML385 group and the nalmefene+Fe group, wet/dry weight ratio, lung tissue damage score, ACSL 4 expression level, TNF-α, IL-6 and MDA content were significantly increased (P<0.01), the expression level of GPX 4 and GSH activity were significantly decreased (P<0.01). The expression levels of Sirt 1, Nrf 2, HO-1 messenger RNA and protein were significantly decreased in the nalmefene+EX527 group (P<0.01). The expression levels of Nrf 2, HO-1 messenger RNA and protein decreased significantly in the namemefene+ML385 group (P<0.01), but there was no significant change in Sirt 1 messenger RNA and protein expression level (P>0.05). Sirt 1, Nrf 2, HO-1 messenger RNA-protein expression levels did not change significantly in the nalmefene+Fe group (P>0.05). Conclusion: Post-ischemic treatment with nalmefene hydrochloride may alleviate pulmonary ischemia-reperfusion injury by inhibiting ferroptosis through activation of the Sirt 1/Nrf 2/HO-1 axis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Commonly used noninvasive serological indicators serve as a step before endoscope diagnosis and help identify the high-risk gastric cancer (GC) population. However, they are associated with high false positives and high false negatives. Alternative noninvasive approaches, such as cancer-related features in cell-free DNA (cfDNA) fragments, have been gradually identified and play essential roles in early cancer detection. The integrated analysis of multiple cfDNA features has enhanced detection sensitivity compared to individual features. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to develop and validate an assay based on assessing genomic-scale methylation and fragmentation profiles of plasma cfDNA for early cancer detection, thereby facilitating the early diagnosis of GC. The primary objective is to evaluate the overall specificity and sensitivity of the assay in predicting GC within the entire cohort, and subsequently within each clinical stage of GC. The secondary objective involved investigating the specificity and sensitivity of the assay in combination with possible serological indicators. METHODS This is an observational case-control study. Blood samples will be prospectively collected before gastroscopy from 180 patients with GC and 180 nonmalignant control subjects (healthy or with benign gastric diseases). Cases and controls will be randomly divided into a training and a testing data set at a ratio of 2:1. Plasma cfDNA will be isolated and extracted, followed by bisulfite-free low-depth whole methylome sequencing. A multidimensional model named Thorough Epigenetic Marker Integration Solution (THEMIS) will be constructed in the training data set. The model includes features such as the methylated fragment ratio, chromosomal aneuploidy of featured fragments, fragment size index, and fragment end motif. The performance of the model in distinguishing between patients with cancer and noncancer controls will then be evaluated in the testing data set. Furthermore, GC-related biomarkers, such as pepsinogen, gastrin-17, and Helicobacter pylori, will be measured for each patient, and their predictive accuracy will be assessed both independently and in combination with the THEMIS model. RESULTS Recruitment began in November 2022 and will be ended in April 2024. As of August 2022,250 patients have been enrolled. The final data analysis is anticipated to be completed by September 2024. CONCLUSIONS This is the first registered case-control study designed to investigate a stacked ensemble model integrating several cfDNA features generated from a bisulfite-free whole methylome sequencing assay. These features include methylation patterns, fragmentation profiles, and chromosomal copy number changes, with the aim of identifying the GC population. This study will determine whether multidimensional analysis of cfDNA will prove to be an effective strategy for distinguishing patients with GC from nonmalignant individuals within the Chinese population. We anticipate the THEMIS model will complement the standard-of-care screening and aid in identifying high-risk patients for further diagnosis. Abstract
Alzheimer's disease (AD) seriously influences human health, and there is no effective treatment to prevent or cure AD. Recent studies have shown that angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R) blockers significantly reduce the prevalence of AD, while the precise role and mechanism of AT1R in AD remain obscure. In this study, for the first time, we identified that astrocytic but not neuronal AT1R levels were significantly increased in AD model rats and found that astrocyte-specific knockout of AT1R significantly ameliorated amyloid β (Aβ)-induced cognitive deficits and synaptotoxicity. Pretreating astrocytes with an AT1R blocker also alleviated Aβ-induced synaptotoxicity in the coculture system of hippocampal neurons and astrocytes. Moreover, AT1R could directly bind to Aβ1-42 and activate the astrocytic β-arrestin2 pathway in a biased manner, and biased inhibition of the astrocytic AT1R/β-arrestin2 pathway relieved Aβ-induced neurotoxicity. Furthermore, we demonstrated that astrocytic AT1R/β-arrestin2 pathway-mediated synaptotoxicity was associated with the aggregation of autophagosomes, which triggered the disordered degradation of Aβ. Our findings reveal a novel molecular mechanism of astrocytic AT1R in Aβ-induced neurodegeneration and might contribute to establishing new targets for AD prevention and therapy.

Abstract
Flower color is an important characteristic of ornamental plants and is determined by various chemical components, including anthocyanin. In the present study, combined metabolomics and transcriptomics analysis was used to explore color variations in the chrysanthemums of three cultivars, of which the color of JIN is yellow, FEN is pink, and ZSH is red. A total of 29 different metabolites, including nine anthocyanins, were identified in common in the three cultivars. Compared with the light-colored cultivars, all of the nine anthocyanin contents were found to be up-regulated in the dark-colored ones. The different contents of pelargonidin, cyanidin, and their derivates were found to be the main reason for color variations. Transcriptomic analysis showed that the color difference was closely related to anthocyanin biosynthesis. The expression level of anthocyanin structural genes, including DFR, ANS, 3GT, 3MaT1, and 3MaT2, was in accordance with the flower color depth. This finding suggests that anthocyanins may be a key factor in color variations among the studied cultivars. On this basis, two special metabolites were selected as biomarkers to assist in chrysanthemum breeding for color selection.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Infection due to multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae is a common cause of graft resection after small bowel transplantation. We report a failed case in which the intestinal graft was resected 18 days after the operation due to postoperative infection with multidrug-resistant K pneumoniae and a literature review of other common causes of small bowel transplantation failure have been reported. METHODS A female, 29 years of age, underwent partial living small bowel transplantation for short bowel syndrome. After the operation, the patient was infected with multidrug-resistant K pneumoniae, even though various anti-infective regimens were employed. It further developed into sepsis and disseminated into intravascular coagulation, leading to exfoliation and necrosis of the intestinal mucosa. Finally, the intestinal graft had to be resected to save the patient's life. RESULTS Multidrug-resistant K pneumoniae infection often affects the biological function of intestinal grafts and can even lead to necrosis. Other common causes of failure, including postoperative infection, rejection, post-transplantation lymphoproliferative disorder, graft-vs-host disease, surgical complications, and other related diseases, were also discussed throughout the literature review. CONCLUSIONS Pathogenesis due to diverse and interrelated factors makes the survival of intestinal allografts a great challenge. Therefore, only by fully understanding and mastering the common causes of surgical failure can the success rate of small bowel transplantation be effectively improved.

Abstract
BackgroundSiewert type II adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction (Siewert II AEG) can be resected by the right thoracoabdominal surgical approach (RTA) or abdominal-transhiatal surgical approach (TH) under minimally invasive conditions. Although both surgical methods achieve complete tumor resection, there is a debate as to whether the former method is superior to or at least noninferior to the latter in terms of surgical safety. Currently, a small number of retrospective studies have compared the two surgical approaches, with inconclusive results. As such, a prospective multicenter randomized controlled trial is necessary to validate the value of RTA (Ivor-Lewis) compared to TH.MethodsThe planned study is a prospective, multicenter, randomized clinical trial. Patients (n=212) with Siewert II AEG that could be resected by either of the above two surgical approaches will be included in this trial and randomized to the RTA group (n=106) or the TH group (n=106). The primary outcome will be 3-year disease-free survival (DFS). The secondary outcomes will include 5-year overall survival (OS), incidence of postoperative complications, postoperative mortality, local recurrence rate, number and location of removed lymph nodes, quality of life (QOL), surgical Apgar score, and duration of the operation. Follow-ups are scheduled every three months for the first 3 years after the surgery and every six months for the next 2 years.DiscussionAmong Siewert II AEG patients with resectable tumors, this is the first prospective, randomized clinical trial comparing the surgical safety of minimally invasive RTA and TH. RTA is hypothesized to provide better digestive tract reconstruction and dissection of mediastinal lymph nodes while maintaining a high quality of life and good postoperative outcome. Abstract
Objective This study aimed to compare the feasibility and short-term clinical efficacy of triple-port laparoscopic distal gastrectomy (TPLDG) with five-port laparoscopic distal gastrectomy (FPLDG). Methods From April 2020 to December 2021, this retrospective study included all consecutive patients (n = 21) who underwent TPLDG + D2 lymph node dissection, and randomly screened patients who underwent FPLDG + D2 lymph node dissection during this period (n = 30). Results There were no significant differences in intraoperative (P > 0.05) and postoperative complication rate (P = 0.635) between the two groups. The changes in the first ambulation, flatus, water intake after surgery and postoperative hospitalization were also similar between the two groups (P > 0.05). However, time to abdominal drainage tube removal (1.62 ± 0.15 days vs. 2.00 ± 0.12 days, P = 0.046), NRS pain score on the first postoperative day (1.91 ± 0.15 days vs. 2.47 ± 0.12 days, P = 0.004) and hemameba level on the third postoperative day (7.89 ± 0.51 days vs. 10.52 ± 0.58 days, P = 0.002) were significantly lower in the TPLDG group compared to the FPLDG group. Conclusion TPLDG is a safer, feasible, and short-term alternative to conventional LDG for distal gastric cancer.

Abstract
Sleep disorders are associated with cognitive impairments, greater amyloid-β (Aβ) burden and increased risk of developing Alzheimer's disease, while the underlying mechanism is unclear. N-methyl-d-aspartate receptors (NMDARs), as vital modulators of cognition, are sensitive to sleep disturbance. Sleep deprivation (SD) could induce the alterations of neuronal NMDAR subunits expression, however the alterations of astrocytic NMDARs in SD have not been reported. Our previous study has demonstrated knockdown of astrocytic Grin2a (gene encoding NMDAR subunit GluN2A) could aggravate Aβ-induced cognitive impairments, but what role astrocytic GluN2A may play in SD is unknown. Here we focused on the changes and roles of hippocampal astrocytic GluN2A in SD. Our results showed SD increased the expression of astrocytic GluN2A. Specific knockdown of hippocampal astrocytic Grin2a aggravated SD-induced cognitive decline, elevated Aβ, and attenuated the SD-induced increase in autophagy flux. Our finding, for the first time, revealed a novel neuroprotective role for astrocytic GluN2A in SD, which may be helpful for developing new preventive and therapeutic targets to sleep disorders.

Background
Despite the benefits of cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention, patients with coronary heart disease frequently fail to meet their daily physical activity goals. When one is stuck in a cycle of bad habits, changing one's behavior can be very challenging. One of the difficulties to maintaining a healthy lifestyle may be a lack of motivation. The use of game design elements (such as points, leaderboards, progress bars, and badges) in non-game contexts to promote motivation and engagement is known as gamification. It could be a powerful tool for encouraging patients to engage in physical activity. However, solid ideas that utilize the fundamental experience and psychological impacts of gaming mechanics must be built upon.
Purpose
The aim of this study is to look into the impact of a smartphone-based gamification intervention on physical activity engagement and other related psychological outcomes in patients with coronary heart disease, as well as the 24-week maintenance of effects beyond the 12-week intervention.
Methods
Participants with coronary heart disease were randomly assigned to three groups (control group, individual group and team group). The individual and team groups received gamified behavior intervention based on behavioral economic principles. Based on the Individual group, the team earned social incentives (collaboration). The intervention lasted 12 weeks, with another 12 weeks of follow-up. The primary outcomes included the change in daily steps and the proportion of patient-days that step goals achieved. The secondary outcomes included competence, autonomous, relatedness and autonomous motivation.
Results
The follow-up period has now been completed by 65 participants (mean age 52.8+10.3, 18.2% female) completed the follow-up period. Compared with the control group (n=17), participants in the individual group (n=25) had a significantly greater increase in mean daily steps from baseline during the intervention group (difference 956; 95% CI, 243–1623; P<0.01), and had a significantly greater proportion of patient-days that step goals achieved (difference 0.35; 95% CI, 0.03–0.12; P<0.001), competence (difference 0.5, 95% CI, 0.3–0.7; P<0.001), autonomous motivation (difference 3.2; 95% CI, 2.0–4.0; P<0.001). However, no significant difference of change in step counts was found between team group (n=23) and control group. During the follow-up period, mean daily steps and autonomous motivation in the individual declined but remained significantly greater than that in the control arm compared with baseline (steps: difference 452; 95% CI, 138–818; P<0.05) (motivation: difference 1.2; 95% CI, 0.3–1.8; P<0.05).
Conclusions
A smartphone-based gamification intervention was found to be an effective strategy to enhance motivation and physical activity engagement, as well as having a great maintenance effect.

Aims
Recent research reported that lower low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) is associated with more in-hospital bleeding in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients. However, the association between lower LDL-C levels and long-term bleeding in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) patients remains unclear.
Methods
A total of 10724 patients treated with PCI enrolled in ourhospital from January 2013 to December 2013. The primary endpoint was the Bleeding Academic Research Consortium (BARC) type 2, 3 or 5 bleeding at 5 years. The secondary endpoint was intracranial hemorrhage. Taking the LDL-C value of 1.8 mmol/L (70 mg/dL) or 1.4 mmol/L (55 mg/dL) as cut-off points, patients were grouped to analyse, respectively.
Results
Among 9697 PCI patients treated with dual antiplatelet therapy finally enrolled, a total of 411 BARC type 2, 3 or 5 bleedings and 42 intracranial hemorrhage were recorded during a follow-up of 5 years. With LDL-C value of 1.8 mmol/L as cut-off point, multivariate Cox regression showed that lower LDL-C level was not associated with the risk for bleeding [hazard ratio (HR): 1.166, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.879–1.549]. The result was consistent (HR: 1.185; 95% CI: 0.713–1.968) in a 1:4 propensity-score matching cohort (n=1285). For further study, we performed subgroup analysis which showed that lower LDL-C was not associated with the risk for bleeding in ACS (HR: 1.140; 95% CI: 0.846–1.535) or non-ACS patients (HR: 1.284; 95% CI: 0.909–1.813). With LDL-C value of 1.4 mmol/L as cut-off point, Cox regression showed that lower LDL-C level was not associated with the risk for bleeding in total population, ACS or non-ACS patients (P>0.05). The result was consistent in a 1:4 propensity-score matching cohort (n=760) (P>0.05). As for secondary endpoint, lower LDL-C level was not associated with the risk for intracranial hemorrhage whether the LDL-C value is 1.8 or 1.4 mmol/L as the cut-off point (P>0.05).
Conclusions
To the best of our knowledge, we firstly report lower LDL-C level (whether the LDL-C value is 1.8 or 1.4 mmol/L as the cut-off point) was not the independent risk factor of long-term bleeding in PCI population and ACS or non-ACS subgroup populations.

Abstract
BackgroundTotal laparoscopic total gastrectomy (TLTG) for gastric cancer, especially with overlap esophagojejunostomy, has been verified that it has advantages of minimally invasion, less intraoperative bleeding, and faster recovery. Meanwhile, early oral feeding (EOF) after the operation has been demonstrated to significantly promote early rehabilitation in patients, particularly with distal gastrectomy. However, due to the limited application of TLTG, there is few related research proving whether it is credible or safe to adopt EOF after TLTG (overlap esophagojejunostomy). So, it is urgent to start a prospective, multicenter, randomized clinical trials to supply high level evidence.Methods/designThis study is a prospective, multicenter, randomized controlled trial with 200 patients (100 in each group). These eligible participants are randomly allocated into two different groups, including EOF group and delay oral feeding (DOF) group after TLTG (overlap esophagojejunostomy). Anastomotic leakage will be carefully observed and recorded as the primary endpoints; the period of the first defecation and exhaust, postoperative length of stay and hospitalization expenses will be recorded as secondary endpoints to ascertain the feasibility and safety of adopting EOF after TLTG (overlap esophagojejunostomy).DiscussionRecently, the adoption of TLTG was limited due to its difficult anastomotic procedure, especially in vivo esophagojejunostomy. With the innovation and improvement of operating techniques, overlap esophagojejunostomy with linear staplers simplified the anastomotic steps and reduced operational difficulties after TLTG. Meanwhile, EOF had received increasing attention from surgical clinicians as a nutrition part of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS), which had shown better results in patients after distal gastrectomy. Considering the above factors, we implemented EOF protocol to evaluate the feasibility and safety of adopting EOF after TLTG (overlap esophagojejunostomy), which provided additional evidence for the development of clinical nutrition guidelines.Clinical trial registration[www.chictr.org.cn], identifier [ChiECRCT20200440 and ChiCTR2000040692].

Abstract
3D data that contains rich geometry information of objects and scenes is valuable for understanding 3D physical world. With the recent emergence of large-scale 3D datasets, it becomes increasingly crucial to have a powerful 3D generative model for 3D shape synthesis and analysis. This paper proposes a deep 3D energy-based model to represent volumetric shapes. The maximum likelihood training of the model follows an "analysis by synthesis" scheme. The benefits of the proposed model are six-fold: first, unlike GANs and VAEs, the model training does not rely on any auxiliary models; second, the model can synthesize realistic 3D shapes by Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC); third, the conditional model can be applied to 3D object recovery and super resolution; fourth, the model can serve as a building block in a multi-grid modeling and sampling framework for high resolution 3D shape synthesis; fifth, the model can be used to train a 3D generator via MCMC teaching; sixth, the unsupervisedly trained model provides a powerful feature extractor for 3D data, which is useful for 3D object classification. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed model can generate high-quality 3D shape patterns and can be useful for a wide variety of 3D shape analysis.

Abstract
Objective: Based on the geographic information systems, we exploreed the spatiotemporal clustering and the development and evolution of COVID-19 epidemic at prefectural level in China from the time when the epidemic was discovered to the time when the lockdown ended in Wuhan. Methods: The information and data of the confirmed COVID-19 cases from December 8, 2019 to April 8, 2020 were collected from 367 prefectures in China for a spatial autocorrelation analysis with software GeoDa, and software ArcGIS was used to visualize the results. Software SatScan was used for spatiotemporal scanning analysis to visualize the hot-spot areas of the epidemic. Results: The incidence of new cases of COVID-19 had obvious global autocorrelation and the partial autocorrelation results showed that incidence of COVID-19 had different spatial distribution at different times from December 8, 2019 to March 4, 2020. There was no significant difference in global autocorrelation coefficient from March 5, 2020 to April 8, 2020. The statistical analysis of spatiotemporal scanning identified two kinds of spatiotemporal clustering areas, the first class clustering areas included 10 prefectures, mainly distributed in Hubei, from January 13 to February 25, 2020. The secondary class clustering areas included 142 prefectures, mainly distributed in provinces in the north and east of Hubei, from January 23 to February 1, 2020. Conclusions: There was a clear spatiotemporal correlation in the distribution of the outbreaks in the early phase of COVID-19 epidemic (December 8, 2019-March 4, 2020) in China. With the decrease of the case and effective prevention and control measures, the epidemics had no longer significant correlations among areas from March 5 to April 8. The study results showed relationship with time points of start and adjustment of emergency response at different degree in provinces. Furthermore, improving the early detection of new outbreaks and taking timely and effective prevention and control measures played an important role in blocking the transmission.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To assess the effect of sex differences on short-term and long-term mortality among patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). DESIGN Systematic review and meta-analysis of contemporary available evidence. SETTING PubMed, Embase and Cochrane Library were searched for relevant studies reporting sex-specific outcomes among patients with STEMI published between 1 January 2010 and 1 August 2020. Risk ratios (RRs) and 95% CIs were measured using DerSimonian and Laird random-effects model. Sensitivity analyses were performed and publication bias was also checked. All statistical analyses were performed using STATA V.15.0. PARTICIPANTS Studies providing data about short-term or long-term mortality stratified by sex in patients with STEMI were included. Only study conducted in last 10 years were included. PRIMARY AND SECONDARY OUTCOME MEASURES The primary outcome was all-cause death at short-term (in-hospital or 30 days) and long-term (at least 12 months) follow-up. RESULTS A total of 15 studies involving 128 585 patients (31 706 (24.7%) female and 96 879 (75.3%) male) were included. In the unadjusted analyses, female were at a higher risk of short-term mortality (RR, 1.73; 95% CI 1.53 to 1.96, p<0.001, I2=77%) but not long-term mortality (RR, 1.23; 95% CI 0.89 to 1.69, p=0.206, I2=77.5%). When adjusted effect estimates from individual studies were used in meta-analysis, the association between female and higher risk of short-term mortality remained significant (RR, 1.24; 95% CI 1.11 to 1.38, p<0.001, I2=39.6%). And adjusted long-term mortality was also similar between female and male (RR, 1.11; 95% CI 0.42 to 1.80, p=0.670, I2=74.5%). CONCLUSIONS An increased short-term but not long-term mortality was found in female with STEMI. After adjustment for baseline cardiovascular risk factors and clinical profiles, short-term mortality remains higher in female with STEMI compared with male, indicating the need for further improvements in management in female patients.

Abstract
We present a deformable generator model to disentangle the appearance and geometric information for both image and video data in a purely unsupervised manner. The appearance generator network models the information related to appearance, including color, illumination, identity or category, while the geometric generator performs geometric warping, such as rotation and stretching, through generating deformation field which is used to warp the generated appearance to obtain the final image or video sequences. Two generators take independent latent vectors as input to disentangle the appearance and geometric information from image or video sequences. For video data, a nonlinear transition model is introduced to both the appearance and geometric generators to capture the dynamics over time. The proposed scheme is general and can be easily integrated into different generative models. An extensive set of qualitative and quantitative experiments shows that the appearance and geometric information can be well disentangled, and the learned geometric generator can be conveniently transferred to other image datasets that share similar structure regularity to facilitate knowledge transfer tasks.

Abstract
Background Whether patients with advanced gastric cancer with unresectable synchronous liver metastases require surgical treatment remains a controversial topic among surgeons. Recently, an open-label multicenter, international RCT study show that compared with chemotherapy alone, gastric resection combined with chemotherapy had no survival advantage for advanced gastric cancer with unresectable synchronous liver metastases. A limitation of this study was that gastrectomy for gastric cancers was restricted to D1 lymphadenectomy and no metastatic lesions were removed. Whether D2 gastrectomy plus liver radiofrequency plus postoperative chemotherapy could provide benefits to these patients is worthy of further confirmation by high-level evidence-based medicine. Methods/Design This study will investigate the efficacy of D2 gastrectomy plus liver radiofrequency plus postoperative chemotherapy compared to chemotherapy alone in a prospective, multicenter, randomized controlled trial that will enroll 200 patients who have advanced gastric cancer with unresectable synchronous liver metastases. The patients will be randomly divided into two groups: the test group (D2 gastrectomy plus liver radiofrequency plus postoperative chemotherapy, n=100) and the control group (chemotherapy alone, n=100). The patients’ general information, past medical history, laboratory tests, imaging results, surgery details, and chemotherapy details will be recorded and analysed. The overall survival (OS) will be recorded as primary endpoints. Progression-free survival (PFS) and the total incidence of complications will be recorded as secondary endpoints. Discussion This study is to establish a multicentre randomized controlled trial to compare the efficacy of D2 gastrectomy plus liver radiofrequency combined with postoperative chemotherapy versus chemotherapy alone. Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the roles of G Protein-Coupled Receptor 68 (GPR68) and tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) in TPF-(paclitaxel, cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil) induced chemotherapy for middle-advanced hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas. Methods: A total of 31 patients with middle-advanced hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma before TPF-inducted chemotherapy were enrolled from September 2012 to November 2017 in Beijing Tongren Hospital, Capital Medical University, including 28 males and 3 females, aged 43 to 71 years old. The expression of GPR68 and tumor infiltrating CD4+and CD8+T cells before chemotherapy was detected by immunohistochemical staining, and the relationships between GPR68 expression and clinical features, chemotherapy efficacy and overall survival (OS) were analyzed using t-test. Results: After 3 cycles of chemotherapy, there were 4, 14, 10 and 3 patients respectively with complete response (CR), partial response (PR), stable disease (SD) and progressive disease (PD). The positive rates of GPR68 and CD8 were 25% and 40% respectively in the effective group (CR+PR), while 50% and 15% in the ineffective group (SD+PD), with statistically significant differences between two groups (t=5.17 and 12.86,P<0.001). Linear regression analysis showed that GPR68 was negatively correlated with CD8+T cells (r=-0.64,P<0.001). There was no significant correlation between the CD4 expression and TPF efficacy (P>0.05). The mean OS was 12.5 months in patients with high-expressed GPR68 and 25.0 months in patients with low-expressed GPR68, with a statistically significant difference (P=0.005). And mean OS was 25.0 months in patients with high-expressed CD8 and 14.5 months in low-expressed CD8, with a statistically significant difference (HR=2.58, P=0.019). Cox regression analysis showed that GPR68 and CD8+T cells were significant prognostic factors (OR(95%CI)=3.27(2.46-5.97) and 1.53(0.78-1.82), all P<0.05), while CD4 had no significant effect on prognosis (P>0.05). Conclusion: GPR68 and CD8+T cells are expected to be biomarkers for evaluating the efficacy and prognosis of TPF-induced chemotherapy in patients with middle-advanced hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This research aimed to build an m6A-associated lncRNA prognostic model of esophageal cancer that can be used to predict outcome in esophageal cancer patients. METHODS RNA sequencing transcriptome data and clinical information about patients with esophageal cancer were obtained according to TCGA. Twenty-four m6A-associated genes were selected based on previous studies. m6A-associated lncRNAs were determined through Pearson correlation analysis. Three m6A-associated lncRNA prognostic signatures were built through analysis of the training set using univariate, LASSO, and multivariate Cox regression. To validate the stabilization of the risk signature, Kaplan-Meier and ROC curve analyses were performed on the testing and complete sets. The prognoses of EC patients were predicted quantitatively by building a nomogram. GSEA was conducted to analyze the underlying signaling pathways and biological processes. To identify the underlying mechanisms through which the lncRNAs act, we constructed a PPI network and a ceRNA network and conducted GO and KEGG pathway analyses. EC samples were evaluated using the ESTIMATE algorithm to compute stromal, immune, and estimate scores. The ssGSEA algorithm was used to quantitatively infer immune cell infiltration and immune functions. The TIDE algorithm was performed to simulate immune evasion and predict the response to immunotherapy. RESULTS We identified and validated an m6A-associated lncRNA risk model in EC that could correctly and reliably predict the OS of EC patients. The ceRNA network, PPI network, and GO and KEGG pathway analyses confirmed and the underlying mechanisms and functions provided enlightenment regarding therapeutic strategies for EC. Immunotherapy responses were better in the low-risk subgroup, and PD-1 and CTLA4 checkpoint immunotherapy benefited the patients in the low-risk subgroup. CONCLUSIONS We constructed a new m6A-related lncRNA prognostic risk model of EC, based on three m6A-related lncRNAs: LINC01612, AC025166.1 and AC016876.2, that can predict the prognoses of EC patients.

Abstract
Vibrio harveyi is a common aquaculture pathogen causing diseases in a variety of aquatic animals. toxR, a conserved virulence-associated gene in vibrios, is identified in V. harveyi 345, a pathogenic strain isolated from diseased fish. In this study, to gain insight into function of ToxR in V. harveyi, an in-frame deletion of the toxR gene was constructed to reveal the role of ToxR in the physiology and virulence of V. harveyi. The statistical analysis showed no significant differences in the growth ability, motility, extracellular protease secretion, antibiotic susceptibility, virulence by intraperitoneal injection and the ability of V. harveyi to colonize the spleen and liver tissues of the pearl gentian grouper between the wild-type (WT) and the toxR mutant. However, the deletion of toxR increased the biofilm formation. The structure of the V. harveyi biofilm was further analysed by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and confocal laser scanning microscopy, and the results showed that deletion of toxR increased the number and density of V. harveyi biofilm. Since biofilm production is flagella, exopolysaccharide (EPS) and lipopolysaccharide dependent, 16 of V. harveyi biofilm-related genes were selected for further analysis. Based on quantitative real-time reverse transcription-PCR, the expression levels of these genes, including genes flrB, motY and mshA, flaE, flrA and gmhD, were significantly up-regulated in the ΔtoxR+ strain as compared with the WT+ and C-ΔtoxR strains during the early and mid-exponential, while epsG, flaA, flaE, flgD, flgE, flrB, flrC, lpxB, motY, mshA and scrG genes were inhibited because of deletion of the toxR gene in the stationary growth phase. Our results indicate that ToxR plays an important role in controlling the biofilm in V. harveyi.

Abstract
Background
At present, it is worth noting that there is a lack of biomarker for the residual risk of thrombosis in patients underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). D-dimer is an important thrombus marker and widely used in clinical practice.
Purpose
We aim to investigate the correlation between D-dimer and the risk of stent thrombosis (ST) after PCI.
Method
This is a prospective, observational study of 10,724 patients who underwent PCI. The primary endpoint was ST, which was defined according to the Academic Research Consortium including definite, probable, and possible.
Results
Finally, 8565 patients were included in this study after excluding 2159 people with missing D-dimer data or lost to follow-up. After 2-year follow-up, there were 77 ST occurred. D-dimer levels were significantly higher in the ST group (0.33 [0.28, 0.56] μg/ml) than in the non-ST group (0.28 [0.20, 0.41] μg/ml) (P=0.001). Kaplan–Meier survival curve analysis showed that patients with high D-dimer levels had higher cumulative ST according to the median D-dimer level (0.28 μg/ml) in the total population, acute coronary syndrome (ACS) subgroup, and stable coronary artery disease (SCAD) subgroup, respectively. (log-rank test, all P<0.001) (Figure 1). After multivariate-adjusted cox hazard analysis, high D-dimer levels (≥0.28 μg/ml) were significantly associated with ST in the total population (hazard ratio [HR]: 2.25, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.29–3.95, P=0.005) and ACS subgroup (HR: 2.13, 95% CI: 1.09–4.16, P=0.027); however, we did not find a statistically significant in the SCAD subgroup (HR: 2.56, 95% CI: 0.92–7.1, P=0.072).
Conclusion
In this real world and large sample data study, we reported for the first time that D-dimer was strong independent thrombosis biomarker in patient who underwent PCI. In the future, we may use D-dimer to guide individualized antithrombotic therapy after PCI.

Association between NPC1L1 and HMGCR gene polymorphisms with residual cholesterol risk in patients with premature triple-vessel disease. Eur Heart J 2021. Abstract
Abstract
Background
Management of dyslipidemia is the primary recommend in current guidelines in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). Despite intense statins therapy, patients with low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) level of more than 1.8 mmol/L still have residual cholesterol risk. Premature triple-vessel disease (PTVD) is a severe CHD. Recent studies have established that both residual cholesterol risks and PTVD were associated with adverse cardiovascular events. Niemann-Pick C1-like 1 (NPC1L1) and 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (HMGCR) is involved in exogenous cholesterol absorption and endogenous cholesterol synthesis respectively, which play a vital part on dyslipidemia.
Purpose
The present study aimed to investigate the association between NPC1L1 and HMGCR gene polymorphisms and residual cholesterol risk in patients with PTVD.
Methods
A total of 609 PTVD patients treated with statins were consecutively enrolled from April 2004 to February 2011. Residual cholesterol risk was defined as low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) >1.8 mmol/L. According to LDL-C levels, the patients were divided into two groups: residual cholesterol risk group (n=521, >1.8 mmol/L) and non-residual cholesterol risk group (n=88, LDL-C ≤1.8 mmol/L). Four single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) of NPC1L1 gene including rs11763759, rs4720470, rs2072183 and rs2073547 and three SNPs of HMGCR gene including rs12916, rs2303151 and rs4629571 were genotyped.
Results
After adjusted for age and sex, multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that rs12916 of HMGCR gene was associated with 2.082 times higher residual cholesterol risk in recessive model (OR: 2.082, 95% CI: 1.156–3.749, P=0.015), and the homozygous TT of rs12916 (OR: 2.262, 95% CI: 1.155–4.429, P=0.017) was associated with 2.262 times higher residual cholesterol risk in codominant model while there was no significant association for the heterozygous CT of rs12916 in codominant model (OR: 1.140, 95% CI: 0.678–1.917, P=0.621). There was no significant association between the SNPs of NPC1L1 gene and residual cholesterol risk in various models (P>0.05).
Conclusions
We reported for the first time that the rs12916 on HMGCR gene were associated with residual cholesterol risk in patients with PTVD, providing new insight in genetic treatment in dyslipidemia.

Abstract
UNLABELLED A meta-analysis of observational studies was conducted to assess the relationship between overweight/obesity and vertebral fractures in older adults. We found that overweight was related to a decreased risk of vertebral fractures in female and non-Asian populations, while obesity failed to be associated with vertebral fracture risks based on the present data. INTRODUCTION Recent investigations suggest that the influence of overweight/obesity on fracture risks is site-specific, while conflicting data were reported related to vertebral fracture. This meta-analysis was performed to qualitatively assess the relationship between overweight/obesity and the risk of vertebral fracture. METHODS MEDLINE, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane were searched for relevant observational articles assessing the vertebral fracture risk of the overweight or obese population compared to normal population. Two independent reviewers conducted data extraction and quality assessment. Relative risks (RR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were pooled using a random effect model. RESULTS Eleven studies including 1,078,094 participants were extracted from 1645 records. Pooled RR showed that decreased risk of vertebral fractures was observed in the overweight older adults (RR: 1.16; 95% CI: 1.07-1.26; I2: 51.8%), but not in the obese populations (RR: 0.98; 95% CI: 0.82-1.17; I2: 92.1%). In the subgroup analysis, we found a significant inverse association between overweight and risk of vertebral fracture in women (RR: 0.92; 95% CI: 0.85-1.00; I2: 0.0%), non-Asian areas (RR: 0.89; 95% CI: 0.80-0.99; I2: 40.7%), sample size > 2000 (RR: 0.87; 95% CI: 0.80-0.94; I2: 4.9%), and quality score > 7 (RR: 0.87; 95% CI: 0.79-0.95; I2: 21.9%). Furthermore, pooled studies of sample size > 2000 (RR: 0.66; 95% CI: 0.76, 0.89; I2: 52.1%) and quality score > 7 (RR: 0.75; 95% CI: 0.62, 0.91; I2: 68.1%) showed that the people with obesity had a significantly lower prevalence of vertebral fracture. CONCLUSIONS Overweight aged adults tend to have a lower vertebral fracture risk. When gender and ethnicity were taken into consideration, the inverse relationship between overweight and vertebral fracture risk were only observed in female and non-Asian populations. Besides, there is insufficient data to conclude the relationship between obesity and the risk of vertebral fractures, and thus, further studies are needed.

Abstract
The verification of exposure to nerve agents is a serious challenge, especially in cases of soman (GD) poisoning. Protein adducts are reliable biomarkers, that provide forensic information and evidence during incidents of terrorism or sporadic poisoning. Mass spectrometry, coupled with a proteomics approach, was established for the forensic analysis of GD-based protein adducts. The fragmentation pathways of GD-based protein adducts were investigated for the first time using electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry. Three abundant natural loss product ions, [M+2H-54]2+ (loss of two carbon cations), [M+2H-72]2+ (loss of tert-butyl and methyl moieties), and [M+2H-84]2+ (loss of the pinacolyl moieties), were observed in each of the GD-labeled adducts, and the product ions were independent of protein structure and exposure route. A unique mechanism for the formation of product ions involving GD-protein adducts is proposed here. These findings support the development of a simple and precise forensic analysis technique to rapidly verify GD poisoning using these three GD-related product ions.

Abstract
The Z chromosome of the silkworm contains a major gene that influences silk yield. This major locus on chromosome Z accounts for 35.10% of the phenotypic variance. The location and identification of the gene have been a focus of silkworm genetics research. Unfortunately, identification of this gene has been difficult. We used extreme phenotype subpopulations and selected from a backcross population, BC1 M, which was obtained using the high-yield strain 872B and the low-yield strain IS-Dazao as parents, for mapping the gene on the chromosome Z. The candidate region was narrowed down to 134 kb at the tip of the chromosome. BmAbl1 in this region correlated with silk gland development by spatiotemporal expression analysis. This gene was differentially expressed in the posterior silk glands of the high- and low-yield strains. In BmAbl1, an insertion-deletion (indel) within the 10th exonic region and an SNP within the 6th intronic region were detected and shown to be associated with cocoon shell weight in 84 Bombyx mori strains with different yields. Nucleotide diversity analysis of BmAbl1 and its 50 kb flanking regions indicated that BmAbl1 has experienced strong artificial selection during silkworm domestication. This study is the first to identify the genes controlling silk yield in the major QTL of the Z chromosome using forward genetics.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the clinical significance of endoscopic vidian neurectomy (EVN) on outcomes in patients with coexisting refractory allergic rhinitis (AR) and bronchial asthma, and to analyze its influence factor. Methods: Clinical data of 109 patients with moderate to severe persistent intractable AR and bronchial asthma who were allocated to the bilateral EVN group (surgery group, 70 cases) or conservative medication group (drug group, 39 cases) from 1 May 2008 to 30 April 2013 in Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Third Xiangya Hospital, Central South University were retrospectively analyzed, including 47 cases of male and 62 cases of female aged (32.7±6.8) years.Ninety-five patients were followed up for at least 3 years. The Rhinoconjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire (RQLQ), Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire (AQLQ), Total Asthma Symptom Score (TASS), forced expiratory volume in 1 second of predicted (FEV1) and medication scores were evaluated at 6 months, 1 year and 3 years after undergoing the initial treatments in the two groups. Multiple factor analysis was used to determine the factors influencing the improvement after EVN. Results: Postoperative scores of RQLQ were significantly lower than preoperative scores during follow-up in surgery group (the preoperative score and postoperative score at 6 months, 1 year, 3 years after operation was 2.39±0.61 (x±s), 0.81±0.43, 0.89±0.32, 1.06±0.24, respectively, all P<0.001). Postoperative scores of VAS were significantly lower than preoperative scores during follow-up in surgery group (the preoperative score and postoperative score at 6 months, 1 year,3 years after operation was 7.13±1.04, 2.52±1.47, 2.70±1.42, 2.85±1.64, respectively, all P<0.05). Scores of RQLQ and VAS in surgery group were significantly lower than those of drug group. Postoperative scores of AQLQ were significantly higher than preoperative scores during follow-up in surgery group (the preoperative score and postoperative score at 6 months, 1 year, 3 years after operation was 3.78±0.81, 4.99±0.45, 4.75±0.71, 4.62±0.64, respectively, all P<0.05), and were significantly higher than those of drug group. The TASS and FEV1 were not significantly changed in surgery group. The postoperative medication scores for AR were gradually reduced after surgery (the preoperative score and postoperative score at 6 months, 1 year, 3 years after operation was 0.99±0.21, 0.37±0.12, 0.39±0.26, 0.45±0.11, respectively, all P<0.05), and the postoperative medication scores for Asthma were gradually reduced after surgery too (the preoperative score and postoperative score at 6 months, 1 year, 3 years after operation was 1.27±0.31, 0.82±0.29, 0.85±0.23, 0.96±0.19, respectively, all P<0.05), and all the postoperative medication scores were significantly lower than those of drug group. At the end of the follow-up, the improvement rates for AR and asthma were 90.6% (58/64) and 45.3% (29/64), respectively. Asthma outcomes were significantly improved by controlling rhinitis symptoms in patients whose asthma attacks were induced by "rhinitis onset" or "climate change" . Conclusion: For patients with AR and bronchial asthma, EVN can significantly control AR symptoms, and improve asthma outcomes in patients whose asthma attacks are induced by rhinitis onset and/or climate change.
