Abstract
Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), an enteric coronavirus, induces severe vomiting and acute watery diarrhea in unweaned piglets. The pig industry has suffered tremendous financial losses due to the high mortality rate of piglets caused by PEDV. Consequently, a simple and rapid on-site diagnostic technology is crucial for preventing and controlling PEDV. This study established a detection method for PEDV using recombinase-aided amplification (RAA) and Pyrococcus furiosus Argonaute (PfAgo), which can detect 100 copies of PEDV without cross-reactivity with other pathogens. The entire reaction of RAA and PfAgo to detect PEDV does not require sophisticated instruments, and the reaction results can be observed with the naked eye. Overall, this integrated RAA-PfAgo cleavage assay is a practical tool for accurately and quickly detecting PEDV. Abstract
The effects of anthocyanin's substitution groups on the UV-Vis molar absorptivity were examined by analyzing a group of 31 anthocyanidin/anthocyanin reference standards with ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-diode array detector (UHPLC-DAD). The substitution groups on aglycones were found to associate with molar absorptivity variations, often neglected in anthocyanin quantitation, resulting in significant analytical errors. A simple yet comprehensive strategy based on the molar relative response factors (MRRFs) and a single master reference calibration (i.e., cyanidin-3-glucoside) was proposed to quantify anthocyanins in red cabbage, blueberry, and strawberry samples with improved analytical accuracy. The results indicate this approach provides an effective, inexpensive, and accurate analytical method for anthocyanins in food materials without using individual reference standards. MRRFs of 617 anthocyanins/anthocyanidins were calculated, and the information is freely available at https://BotanicalDC.online/anthocyanin/. This study could be critical to developing new reference methods for anthocyanin analysis and harmonizing results and data from various sources.

Abstract
The photoexcited dissolved organic matter (DOM) could produce reactive intermediates, affecting chemical oxidant transformation in UV based advanced oxidation processes (AOPs). This study confirmed the critical role of triplet state DOM (3DOM*), generated from DOM photoexcitation, in the transformation of monochloramine (NH2Cl), a commonly used chemical oxidant and disinfectant in water treatment. NH2Cl (42.25 μM, as Cl2) was decayed by 17.4-73.4 % within 60 min, primarily due to 3DOM* , in DOM (2-30 mgC L-1) solutions irradiated by 365 nm, where NH2Cl has no absorption. The second-order quenching rate constants of triplet state model photosensitizers by NH2Cl were determined to be 0.95(± 0.04)-4.49(± 0.04)× 108 M-1 s-1 by using laser flash photolysis. As a reductant, 3DOM* reacted with NH2Cl through one-transfer mechanism, leading to amino radical (NH2•) generation, which then transferred to ammonia (NH4+, pKa 9.25) through H-abstraction by the phenolic moieties in DOM. Additionally, the intermediate product of 3DOM* oxidized by NH2Cl or those triplet state quinones can hydrolyze to form phenolic moieties, elevating NH4+ yield to higher than 99% upon 365 nm irradiation. These findings suggest that the widespread DOM can be applied to convert NH2Cl via 3DOM* with minimal toxic risks.

Abstract
Sabia parviflora (SP, "xiao hua qing feng teng" in Chinese) was recorded as an important ethnic medicine to be used for treating viral hepatitis. The antiviral activity of four SP extracts and potent antiviral compounds evaluated with cathepsin L protease (Cat L PR) and HIV-1 protease (HIV-1 PR). UPLC-HRMS was used for identifying the bioactive components. In addition, the possible inhibitory mechanism of the identified compounds on viral protease was further discussed by molecular docking. As a result, four extracts of SP exhibited inhibitory activity of HIV-1 PR and Cat L PR with IC50 range from 0.015 to 0.80 mg/mL. Meanwhile, six compounds inhibited HIV-1 PR with IC50 range from 0.032 to 0.80 mg/mL. Moreover, procyanidin B2 had good affinity for HIV-1 PR and CatL PR protein, respectively. These findings suggest S. parviflora leaves can be used for treating HIV and procyanidin B2 may play a role in antiviral protease.

Abstract
The valorization of electroplating sludge (ES) for high added value presents greater economic and environmental benefits than conventional treatment methods such as thermal processing, solidification, and landfill. Inspired by the mechanism of chemical looping combustion (CLC), this study developed a novel cost-effective method for denitrification by preparing FeNi-OCs from ES to achieve the synergistic reduction of CO and NO emissions. The phase structure, micromorphology, and valence state changes of the FeNi-OC catalyst during the CO-catalyzed reduction of NO and the pathway for catalytic denitrification using FeNi-OCs were analyzed. Results showed that CO could reduce FeNi-OCs to FeNi, and the reduced FeNi was subsequently oxidized back to FeNi-OCs by NO, a process analogous to CLC. During experiments, the simultaneous consumption of CO and NO gases was observed at 350 °C. This phenomenon was highly pronounced at 600 °C, where the CO and NO concentrations decreased from initial values of 8550 and 470 ppm, respectively, to 6719 and 0 ppm, respectively, with conversion rates of 21.41 % and 100 %, respectively. Hence, synergistic emission reduction was achieved. Further experiments also indicated that the addition of 1.5 % ES during iron ore sintering could substantially reduce the CO and NO concentrations in the sintering flue gas from 1268.32 and 244.81 ppm, respectively, to 974.51 and 161.11 ppm, respectively.

Abstract
The growth in ecotourism and nature-based recreational activities in China has resulted in an increased frequency of visits to green spaces, thereby elevating exposure to ticks and the subsequent risk of tick-borne diseases. This study comprehensively investigate individual behavioral and cognitive factors associated with the risk of contracting tick-borne diseases to facilitate the development of effective prevention and control strategies, supporting public health initiatives in high-prevalence regions. We conducted an extensive questionnaire survey among 3000 residents from three northeastern provinces in China (Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning), where tick-borne diseases exhibit relatively high prevalence. The survey focused on gathering information regarding participants' tick bite history, perception of tick-borne disease risks, and outdoor activity patterns. Using structural equations analysis, we explored the pathways and strengths of the associations between these factors. Our findings revealed an average self-reported tick bite rate of 14% among the participants. Notably, tick-borne encephalitis exhibited the highest self-reported prevalence of infection (4%) among tick-borne diseases, while both Lyme disease and Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome had a prevalence of 2%. The average rate of tick bites among respondents' pets was 14%, with bites predominantly located on the ears, back, and abdomen. The strongest correlation was observed between tick bite rate and subsequent infections, emphasizing its role as the primary contributing factors to infectious status. Moreover, our results indicated that the causal structure of tick-borne disease infections varied across different cities, underscoring the significance of considering the ecological environment and regional knowledge on ticks. This study provides valuable insights into the current landscape of tick-borne disease infections in northeast China and identifies potential behavioral and cognitive factors, an aspect that has not been previously investigated. Our findings enable predictions on the future impact of knowledge dissemination efforts and improved urban facilities on mitigating tick bites and reducing tick-borne disease infections.

Abstract
Bisphenol A (BPA) is a typical endocrine disruptor, which can be used as an industrial raw material for the synthesis of polycarbonate and epoxy resins, etc. Recently, BPA has appeared on the list of priority new pollutants for control in various countries and regions. In this study, phenolic resin waste was utilized as a multi-carbon precursor for the electrocatalytic cathode and loaded with cobalt/nitrogen (Co/N) on its surface to form qualitative two-dimensional carbon nano-flakes (Co/NC). The onset potentials, half-wave potentials, and limiting current densities of the nitrogen-doped composite carbon material Co/NC in oxygen saturated 0.5 mol H2SO4 were -0.08 V, -0.61 V, and -0.41 mA cm-2; and those of alkaline conditions were -0.65 V, -2.51 V, and -0.38 mA cm-2, and the corresponding indexes were improved compared with those of blank titanium electrodes, which indicated that the constructed nitrogen-doped composite carbon material Co/NC was superior in oxygen reduction ability. The catalysis by metallic cobalt as well as the N-hybridized active sites significantly improved the efficiency of electrocatalytic degradation of BPA. In the electro-Fenton system, the yield of hydrogen peroxide generated by cathodic reduction of oxygen was 4.012 mg L-1, which effectively promoted the activation of hydroxyl radicals. The removal rate of BPA was above 95% within 180 min. This work provides a new insight for the design and development of novel catalyst to degrade organic pollutants.

Risk of Early Postoperative Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Complication in Patients with Preoperative COVID-19 Undergoing Cancer Surgery. J Am Coll Surg 2024; 238:1085-1097. Abstract
BACKGROUND As the COVID-19 pandemic shifts to an endemic phase, an increasing proportion of patients with cancer and a preoperative history of COVID-19 will require surgery. This study aimed to assess the influence of preoperative COVID-19 on postoperative risk for major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACEs) among those undergoing surgical cancer resection. Secondary objectives included determining optimal time-to-surgery guidelines based on COVID-19 severity and discerning the influence of vaccination status on MACE risk. STUDY DESIGN National COVID Cohort Collaborative Data Enclave, a large multi-institutional dataset, was used to identify patients that underwent surgical cancer resection between January 2020 and February 2023. Multivariate regression analysis adjusting for demographics, comorbidities, and risk of surgery was performed to evaluate risk for 30-day postoperative MACE. RESULTS Of 204,371 included patients, 21,313 (10.4%) patients had a history of preoperative COVID-19. History of COVID-19 was associated with an increased risk for postoperative composite MACE as well as 30-day mortality. Among patients with mild disease who did not require hospitalization, MACE risk was elevated for up to 4 weeks after infection. Postoperative MACE risk remained elevated more than 8 weeks after infection in those with moderate disease. Vaccination did not reduce risk for postoperative MACE. CONCLUSIONS Together, these data highlight that assessment of the severity of preoperative COVID-19 infection should be a routine component of both preoperative patient screening as well as surgical risk stratification. In addition, strategies beyond vaccination that increase patients' cardiovascular fitness and prevent COVID-19 infection are needed.

Abstract
Osteoarthritis (OA) progresses due to the excessive generation of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS/RNS) and abnormal ATP energy metabolism related to the oxidative phosphorylation pathway in the mitochondria. Highly active single-atom nanozymes (SAzymes) can help regulate the redox balance and have shown their potential in the treatment of inflammatory diseases. In this study, we innovatively utilised ligand-mediated strategies to chelate Pt4+ with modified g-C3N4 by π-π interaction to prepare g-C3N4-loaded Pt single-atom (Pt SA/C3N4) nanozymes that serve as superoxide dismutase (SOD)/catalase (CAT) mimics to scavenge ROS/RNS and regulate mitochondrial ATP production, ultimately delaying the progression of OA. Pt SA/C3N4 exhibited a high loading of Pt single atoms (2.45 wt%), with an excellent photothermal conversion efficiency (54.71%), resulting in tunable catalytic activities under near-infrared light (NIR) irradiation. Interestingly, the Pt-N6 active centres in Pt SA/C3N4 formed electron capture sites for electron holes, in which g-C3N4 regulated the d-band centre of Pt, and the N-rich sites transferred electrons to Pt, leading to the enhanced adsorption of free radicals and thus higher SOD- and CAT-like activities compared with pure g-C3N4 and g-C3N4-loaded Pt nanoparticles (Pt NPs/C3N4). Based on the use of H2O2-induced chondrocytes to simulate ROS-injured cartilage invitro and an OA joint model invivo, the results showed that Pt SA/C3N4 could reduce oxidative stress-induced damage, protect mitochondrial function, inhibit inflammation progression, and rebuild the OA microenvironment, thereby delaying the progression of OA. In particular, under NIR light irradiation, Pt SA/C3N4 could help reverse the oxidative stress-induced joint cartilage damage, bringing it closer to the state of the normal cartilage. Mechanistically, Pt SA/C3N4 regulated the expression of mitochondrial respiratory chain complexes, mainly NDUFV2 of complex 1 and MT-ATP6 of ATP synthase, to reduce ROS/RNS and promote ATP production. This study provides novel insights into the design of artificial nanozymes for treating oxidative stress-induced inflammatory diseases.

Abstract
Narrow bandwidths are a general bottleneck for applications relying on passive, linear, subwavelength resonators. In the past decades, several efforts have been devoted to overcoming this challenge, broadening the bandwidth of small resonators by the means of analog non-Foster matching networks for radiators, antennas and metamaterials. However, most non-Foster approaches present challenges in terms of tunability, stability and power limitations. Here, by tuning a subwavelength acoustic transducer with digital non-Foster-inspired electronics, we demonstrate five-fold bandwidth enhancement compared to conventional analog non-Foster matching. Long-distance transmission over airborne acoustic channels, with approximately three orders of magnitude increase in power level, validates the performance of the proposed approach. We also demonstrate convenient reconfigurability of our non-Foster-inspired electronics. This implementation provides a viable solution to enhance the bandwidth of sub-wavelength resonance-based systems, extendable to the electromagnetic domain, and enables the practical implementation of airborne and underwater acoustic radiators.

Abstract
Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) recognizes bacterial, viral and self DNA and play an important role in immunity and inflammation. However, the role of TLR9 in obesity is less well-studied. Here, we generate B-cell-specific Tlr9-deficient (Tlr9fl/fl/Cd19Cre+/-, KO) B6 mice and model obesity using a high-fat diet. Compared with control mice, B-cell-specific-Tlr9-deficient mice exhibited increased fat tissue inflammation, weight gain, and impaired glucose and insulin tolerance. Furthermore, the frequencies of IL-10-producing-B cells and marginal zone B cells were reduced, and those of follicular and germinal center B cells were increased. This was associated with increased frequencies of IFNγ-producing-T cells and increased follicular helper cells. In addition, gut microbiota from the KO mice induced a pro-inflammatory state leading to immunological and metabolic dysregulation when transferred to germ-free mice. Using 16 S rRNA gene sequencing, we identify altered gut microbial communities including reduced Lachnospiraceae, which may play a role in altered metabolism in KO mice. We identify an important network involving Tlr9, Irf4 and Il-10 interconnecting metabolic homeostasis, with the function of B and T cells, and gut microbiota in obesity.

Abstract
Purpose This study aimed to assess liver involvement and investigate its correlation with rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease (RP-ILD) and mortality in anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 antibody-positive (anti-MDA5 positive) DM patients. Patients and Methods This retrospective study included 159 patients diagnosed with anti-MDA5 positive DM or anti-synthetase syndrome (ASyS). Clinical features and laboratory findings were compared between patients with anti-MDA5 positive DM and patients with ASyS. In the anti-MDA5 positive DM cohort, clinical features and laboratory findings between patients with liver involvement and without liver involvement were further compared. The effects of liver involvement on the overall survival (OS) and development of RP-ILD were also analyzed using Kaplan-Meier method and Cox regression analysis. Results Levels of serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine transaminase (ALT), γ-glutamyl transferase (γGT) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) were all significantly higher in patients with anti-MDA5 positive DM than those in patients with ASyS. In our cohort of anti-MDA5 positive DM patents, 31 patients (34.4%) were complicated with liver involvement. Survival analysis revealed that serum ferritin >1030.0 ng/mL (p<0.001), ALT >103.0 U/l (p<0.001), AST >49.0 U/l (p<0.001), γGT >82.0 U/l (p<0.001), ALP >133.0 U/l (p<0.001), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)>474.0 U/l (p<0.001), plasma albumin (ALB) <35.7 g/l (p<0.001) and direct bilirubin (DBIL) >2.80 μmol/l (p=0.002) predicted poor prognosis. The incidence of RP-ILD increased remarkably in patients with liver involvement compared to patients without liver involvement (58.1% vs 22.0%, p=0.001). Multivariate analysis revealed that elevated serum ALT level was an independent risk factor for mortality (HR 6.0, 95% CI 2.3, 16.2, p<0.001) and RP-ILD (HR 5.9, 95% CI 2.2, 15.9, p<0.001) in anti-MDA5 positive DM patents. Conclusion Liver involvement is common in patients with anti-MDA5 positive DM. Elevated serum ALT level was an independent risk factor for RP-ILD and mortality in patients with anti-MDA5 positive DM.

Abstract
Aims: Evaluating the association between a single nucleotide polymorphism in the 3' untranslated region (3'UTR) of the miRNA binding site of the NLRP3 gene and the occurrence and development of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and providing information to aid in the early detection and treatment of COPD. Materials and Methods: The regulatory single nuclear polymorphisms (SNPs) located in NLRP3 3'UTR were searched by using the dbSNP database and miRNA binding site prediction database. Meanwhile, samples from COPD patients and healthy controls in the same period were used for verification. The clinical baseline information of all subjects was collected, and the transcription level and protein expression level of NLRP3 and the expression level of inflammatory factors downstream of NLRP3 were detected. The effects of SNPs' single nucleotide changes on the transcription and expression of inflammatory factors were analyzed. Results: The study included 418 participants (249 in the COPD group and 169 in the control group). NLRP3 SNPs with miRNA binding sites include rs10754558 (G > C), rs1664774076 (ATAT > del), and rs1664775106 (C > G). Furthermore, two genotypes, GCG and GCA, were discovered to have a linkage mutation at 3'UTR 459-461. COPD susceptibility is tightly associated with the expression of the rs1664774076 del/del genotype, and the risk of COPD increased by 2.770 times (p = 0.003). Type 459-461 GCA was substantially related to the likelihood of developing COPD at various stages (p < 0.05). Except for rs10754558, all homozygous mutants increased NLRP3 mRNA and protein levels. NLRP3 had the greatest area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve for predicting the development and diagnosis of COPD when compared with its downstream inflammatory variables (AUC = 0.9291). Conclusions: The NLRP3 rs1664774076 del/del genotype is a COPD susceptibility gene, and the GCA genotype at 459-461 can be used as an early predictor of COPD exacerbation. The NLRP3 3'UTR polymorphism may alter the loss of miRNA binding sites, leading to an increase in NLRP3 expression. In the development of COPD, NLRP3 has a better diagnostic value than traditional inflammatory factors. The Clinical Trials Registration number Z: protocol KY01-2020-11-06.

Abstract
Immune checkpoint inhibitors have become one of the effective means of solid tumor treatment, among which anti-programmed death-1 (PD-1) antibodies are more maturely applied and can effectively inhibit tumor immune escape, thus enhancing the anti-tumor effect, but it can also lead to a series of immune-related adverse events (irAEs) in the process of clinical use. Here, we report a Patient with pancreatic solid pseudopapilloma treated with Sintilimab for the fifteenth cycles who developed chills, fever, and lymph node enlargement. Considering that the patient did not have infection, without history of autoimmune disease, we diagnosed the patient with Sintilimab-induced histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis (Kikuchi disease). The symptoms are alleviated after rapid use of glucocorticoids. Histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis (Kikuchi lymphadenitis) with anti-programmed death-1 (PD-1) antibody is a rare immune-related adverse events (irAEs).

Abstract
BACKGROUND Regular physical activity (PA) offers numerous benefits, decreasing all-cause mortality (ACM) among the general population. However, its impact on individuals with depression remains unknown. The present study aimed to investigate the correlation between various PA levels and ACM among adult patients with depression in the United States. METHODS Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2007 to 2018, as well as relevant mortality data up to December 31, 2018 were extracted. 4850 adults with depression were incorporated into this cohort study. PA level was quantified based on weekly metabolic equivalent of task (MET-min/week) and categorized into four groups according to the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. Weighted Cox proportional-hazards models were leveraged to assess the association of different PA levels with ACM among adults with depression, and adjustments were made for various sociodemographic and health factors. RESULTS Among the 4850 patients with depression, 503 deaths were noted over a median follow-up of 6.6 years. The weighted Cox regression analysis showed that participants with high-level PA (>1200 MET-min/week) had a markedly lower risk of ACM (HR = 0.48, 95 % CI 0.33 to 0.68) compared to those with no PA (0 MET-min/week). The benefit conferred by the high-level PA group (HR = 0.65, 95CI 0.45 to 0.94) remained significant (p < 0.05) after adjustment for other confounders. LIMITATIONS PA and some covariates were assessed through self-reported questionnaires. CONCLUSION High-level PA has the most pronounced effect on reducing ACM among adult patients with depression, which should be recognized in clinical and public health guidelines.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging viral hemorrhagic fever with high fatality rates. The blockade of pro-inflammatory cytokines presents a promising therapeutic strategy. METHODS We conducted a randomized clinical trial at the 154th hospital, Xinyang, Henan Province. Eligible patients with severe SFTS disease were randomly assigned in a 1:2 ratio to receive either a single intravenous infusion of tocilizumab plus usual care; or usual care only. The primary outcome was the clinical status of death/survival at day 14, while secondary outcomes included improvement from baseline in liver and kidney damage and time required for hospital discharge. The efficacy of tocilizumab plus corticosteroid was compared to those receiving corticosteroid alone. The trial is registered with the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry website (ChiCTR2300076317). RESULTS 63 eligible patients were assigned to the tocilizumab group and 126 to the control group. The addition of tocilizumab to usual care was associated with a reduced death rate (9.5%) compared to those received only usual care (23.0%), with an adjusted hazard ratio (aHR) of 0.37 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.15 to 0.91, P = 0.029). Combination therapy of tocilizumab and corticosteroids was associated with a significantly reduced fatality (aHR, 0.21; 95% CI, 0.08 to 0.56; P = 0.002) compared to those receiving corticosteroids alone. CONCLUSIONS A significant benefit of reducing fatality in severe SFTS patients was observed by using tocilizumab. A combined therapy of tocilizumab plus corticosteroids was recommended for the therapy of severe SFTS.

Abstract
Mass movements, driven by various non-linearly correlated factors, exhibit high randomness, posing vast difficulties for field observations and subsequent investigations into the underlying mechanisms. In this study 157 mass movement incidents (including collapses, slump and spalling) and their primary influencing factors were surveyed in a small catchment of the hilly and gully Loess Plateau, China, through intensive field investigations and remote sensing techniques. The spatial pattern of mass movement and its relation with the influencing factors were assessed, while the relative impact of different factors was studied using the canonical correlation analysis. Results showed that 1) Mass movements predominantly occurred on gully slopes steeper than 70°. Collapses were the main type of mass movement, accounting for 87.9 % of the number of samples. 2) With regard to the impact of individual factors, rainstorms (rainfall intensity >50 mm day-1) significantly enhanced the occurrence frequency, erosion area and erosion volume of mass movement. The occurrence frequency and erosion area / volume were highest at a soil dry bulk density of 1.34 g cm-3 and 1.54 g cm-3, respectively. Mass movement occurred most frequently on unvegetated or unrooted gully slopes, where the resisting effect of vegetation on mass movement was absent. Gully slopes with smooth rather than rugged profiles were also found to be typical areas of mass movement. The occurrence frequency of mass movement decreased with the elevated topographic wetness index (TWI) and distance to slope top and increased with the distance to channels. 3) For the relative impact of different factors, rainfall and shear strength were key factors facilitating and resisting the onset of mass movement, respectively, while topography exerted the greatest influence on the erosion area and volume. This study revealed the relative influence of different factors on occurrence and scale of mass movement, providing a useful reference for modelling and control of the problem.

Abstract
The DNA-guided (gDNA) Argonaute from Thermus thermophilus (TtAgo) has little potential for nucleic acid detection and gene editing due to its poor dsDNA cleavage activity at relatively low temperature. Herein, the dsDNA cleavage activity of TtAgo is enhanced by using 2'-fluorine (2'F)-modified gDNA and developes a novel nucleic acid testing strategy. This study finds that the gDNA with 2'F-nucleotides at the 3'-end (2'F-gDNA) can promote the assembly of the TtAgo-guide-target ternary complex significantly by increasing its intermolecular force to target DNA and TtAgo, thereby providing ≈40-fold activity enhancement and decreasing minimum reaction temperature from 65 to 60°C. Based on this outstanding advance, a novel nucleic acid testing strategy is proposed, termed FAST, which is performed by using the 2'F-gDNA/TtAgo for target recognition and combining it with Bst DNA polymerase for nucleic acid amplification. By integrating G-quadruplex and Thioflavin T, the FAST assay achieves one-pot real-time fluorescence analysis with ultra-sensitivity, providing a limit of detection up to 5 copies (20 µL reaction mixture) for miR-21 detection. In summary, an atom-modification-based strategy has been developed for enhancing the cleavage activity of TtAgo efficiently, thereby improving its practicability and establishing a TtAgo-based nucleic acid testing technology with ultra-sensitivity and high-specificity.

Abstract
A novel visible-light-induced radical cascade bromocyclization of N-arylacrylamides has been accomplished. This reaction overcomes the overbromination at the benzene rings suffered in traditional electrophilic reactions, thus enabling the first highly chemoselective synthesis of valuable 3-bromomethyloxindoles. The combination of pyridine and anhydrous medium is identified as the key factor for the high chemoselectivity in the current photoreaction system, which might work by suppressing the in situ generation of low-concentration Br2 from N-bromosuccinimide. Moreover, the mild reaction conditions ensure the generation of a wide range of the new desired products with excellent functional group tolerance.

Abstract
Radiation therapy treatment planning requires balancing the delivery of the target dose while sparing normal tissues, making it a complex process. To streamline the planning process and enhance its quality, there is a growing demand for knowledge-based planning (KBP). Ensemble learning has shown impressive power in various deep learning tasks, and it has great potential to improve the performance of KBP. However, the effectiveness of ensemble learning heavily depends on the diversity and individual accuracy of the base learners. Moreover, the complexity of model ensembles is a major concern, as it requires maintaining multiple models during inference, leading to increased computational cost and storage overhead. In this study, we propose a novel learning-based ensemble approach named LENAS, which integrates neural architecture search with knowledge distillation for 3-D radiotherapy dose prediction. Our approach starts by exhaustively searching each block from an enormous architecture space to identify multiple architectures that exhibit promising performance and significant diversity. To mitigate the complexity introduced by the model ensemble, we adopt the teacher-student paradigm, leveraging the diverse outputs from multiple learned networks as supervisory signals to guide the training of the student network. Furthermore, to preserve high-level semantic information, we design a hybrid loss to optimize the student network, enabling it to recover the knowledge embedded within the teacher networks. The proposed method has been evaluated on two public datasets: 1) OpenKBP and 2) AIMIS. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method and its superior performance to the state-of-the-art methods. Code: github.com/hust-linyi/LENAS.

Abstract
Most arthropod-borne viruses produce intermittent epidemics in infected plants. However, the underlying mechanisms of these epidemics are unclear. Here, we demonstrated that rice stripe mosaic virus (RSMV), a viral pathogen, significantly increases the mortality of its overwintering vector, the leafhopper species Recilia dorsalis. Cold-stress assays indicated that RSMV reduces the cold tolerance of leafhoppers, a process associated with the downregulation of leafhopper cuticular protein genes. An RSMV-derived small RNA (vsiR-t00355379) was found to facilitate the downregulation of a leafhopper endocuticle gene that is mainly expressed in the abdomen (named RdABD-5) and is conserved across dipteran species. The downregulation of RdABD-5 expression in R. dorsalis resulted in fewer and thinner endocuticle lamellae, leading to decreased cold tolerance. This effect was correlated with a reduced incidence rate of RSMV in early-planted rice plants. These findings contribute to our understanding of the mechanism by which viral pathogens reduce cold tolerance in arthropod vectors and suggest an approach to managing the fluctuating prevalence of arboviruses. IMPORTANCE Increasing arthropod vector dispersal rates have increased the susceptibility of crop to epidemic viral diseases. However, the incidence of some viral diseases fluctuates annually. In this study, we demonstrated that a rice virus reduces the cold tolerance of its leafhopper vector, Recilia dorsalis. This effect is linked to the virus-derived small RNA-mediated downregulation of a gene encoding a leafhopper abdominal endocuticle protein. Consequently, the altered structural composition of the abdominal endocuticle reduces the overwinter survival of leafhoppers, resulting in a lower incidence of RSMV infection in early-planted rice plants. Our findings illustrate the important roles of RNA interference in virus-vector insect-environment interactions and help explain the annual fluctuations of viral disease epidemics in rice fields.

Abstract
Herein, we demonstrate the first example of a novel electrocatalytic hybrid system (CoTPP-PZSNT) with a push-pull motif to boost hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity. CoTPP-PZSNT exhibits an efficient HER activity, with overpotentials of 157 and 109 mV at 10 mA cm-2 in 1.0 M KOH and 0.5 M H2SO4 solutions, respectively. The HER performance of CoTPP-PZSNT outperforms many previously reported HER catalysts, due to efficient charge transfer between each component.

Abstract
Tropospheric nitrogen dioxide (NO2) poses a serious threat to the environmental quality and public health. Satellite NO2 observations have been continuously used to monitor NO2 variations and improve model performances. However, the accuracy of satellite NO2 retrieval depends on the knowledge of aerosol optical properties, in particular for urban agglomerations accompanied by significant changes in aerosol characteristics. In this study, we investigate the impacts of aerosol composition on tropospheric NO2 retrieval for an 18 year global data set from Global Ozone Monitoring Experiment (GOME)-series satellite sensors. With a focus on cloud-free scenes dominated by the presence of aerosols, individual aerosol composition affects the uncertainties of tropospheric NO2 columns through impacts on the aerosol loading amount, relative vertical distribution of aerosol and NO2, aerosol absorption properties, and surface albedo determination. Among aerosol compositions, secondary inorganic aerosol mostly dominates the NO2 uncertainty by up to 43.5% in urban agglomerations, while organic aerosols contribute significantly to the NO2 uncertainty by -8.9 to 37.3% during biomass burning seasons. The possible contrary influences from different aerosol species highlight the importance and complexity of aerosol correction on tropospheric NO2 retrieval and indicate the need for a full picture of aerosol properties. This is of particular importance for interpreting seasonal variations or long-term trends of tropospheric NO2 columns as well as for mitigating ozone and fine particulate matter pollution.

Abstract
As a protein kinase inhibitor, cantharidin (CTD) exhibits antitumor activities. However, CTD is highly toxic, thereby limiting clinical applications. Moreover, relatively few studies have investigated CTD-induced reproductive toxicity, thus the underlying mechanism remains unclear. In this study, the toxic effects of CTD on mouse testis were confirmed in vivo and the potential mechanism was predicted by network toxicology (NT) and molecular docking technology. Proteins involved in the signaling pathways and core targets were verified. The results showed that different concentrations of CTD induced weight loss increased the testicular coefficient, and caused obvious pathological damage to testicular cells. The NT results showed that the main targets of CTD-induced testicular injury (TI) included AKT1, Caspase 3, Bcl-2, and Bax. The results of pathway enrichment analysis showed that CTD-induced TI was closely related to apoptosis and the PI3K/AKT and HIF-1 signaling pathways. Molecular docking methods confirmed high affinity between CTD and key targets. Western blot analysis showed that CTD inhibited expression of PI3K, AKT, and the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2, while promoting expression of the pro-apoptotic proteins Bax and Caspase 3. These results suggest that CTD-induced TI involves multiple targets and pathways, and the underlying mechanism was associated with inhibition of the apoptosis-related PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.

Abstract
Manganese (Mn), a common environmental and occupational risk factor for Parkinson's disease (PD), can cause central nervous system damage and gastrointestinal dysfunction. The melatonin has been shown to effectively improve neural damage and intestinal microbiota disturbances in animal models. This research investigated the mechanism by which exogenous melatonin prevented Mn-induced neurogenesis impairment and neural damage. Here, we established subchronic Mn-exposed mice model and melatonin supplement tests to evaluate the role of melatonin in alleviating Mn-induced neurogenesis impairment. Mn induced neurogenesis impairment and microglia overactivation, behavioral dysfunction, gut microbiota dysbiosis and serum metabolic disorder in mice. All these events were reversed with the melatonin supplement. The behavioral tests revealed that melatonin group showed approximately 30 % restoration of motor activity. According to quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) results, melatonin group showed remarkable restoration of the expression of dopamine neurons and neurogenesis markers, approximately 46.4 % (TH), 68.4 % (DCX in hippocampus) and 48 % (DCX in striatum), respectively. Interestingly, melatonin increased neurogenesis probably via the gut microbiota and metabolism modulation. The correlation analysis of differentially expressed genes associated with hippocampal neurogenesis indicated that Firmicutes-lipid metabolism might mediate the critical repair role of melatonin in neurogenesis in Mn-exposed mice. In conclusion, exogenous melatonin supplementation can promote neurogenesis, and restore neuron loss and neural function in Mn-exposed mice, and the multi-omics results provide new research ideas for future mechanistic studies.

Abstract
In this paper, the microstructure and mechanical properties (including nanoindentation, tensile test, and compression test) of Mongolian horse hooves were investigated. Many tubules and Intermediate Filaments (IF) were distributed longitudinally in the hoof of Mongolian horses, which could better help the hoof cushioning. The hardness and modulus of the hoof wall of Mongolian horses varied at different water contents. The hardness and modulus decreased with the increase in water content. The modulus of elasticity of the hoof wall decreased from 16.3% to 25.4%, and the hardness decreased from 17.8% to 29.3% from 10% to 20% water content. At 20-30% water content, the horseshoe wall modulus decreased by 3.5%-4.8%, and the hardness reduced by 4.1%-7.3%. The results of the tensile and compression experiments showed that the compression properties of Mongolian horse hooves were better than their tensile properties; their longitudinal compression energy absorption was better than their transverse compression properties; and Young's modulus and yield strength of the hoof wall increased as the compression rate increased. Finally, comparing the experiments belonging to this paper with hooves from other papers, it was found that the hardness of the tubular region and the intertubular region of Mongolian horse hooves was 17.7% and 39.4% higher than that of the hooves from the current study, respectively. The microstructural features of Mongolian horse-like hooves with superior mechanical properties provide a promising inspiration for the bionic design of lightweight and high-strength composites in engineering.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The motion relationship and time intervals of the pulsed-wave Doppler (PWD) spectrum are essential for diagnosing fetal arrhythmia. However, few technologies currently are available to automatically calculate fetal cardiac time intervals (CTIs). OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to develop a fetal heart rhythm intelligent quantification system (HR-IQS) for the automatic extraction of CTIs and establish the normal reference range for fetal CTIs. METHODS A total of 6498 PWD spectrums of 2630 fetuses over the junction between the left ventricular inflow and outflow tracts were recorded across 14 centers. E, A, and V waves were manually labeled by 3 experienced fetal cardiologists, with 17 CTIs extracted. Five-fold cross-validation was performed for training and testing of the deep learning model. Agreement between the manual and HR-IQS-based values was evaluated using the intraclass correlation coefficient and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient. The Jarque-Bera test was applied to evaluate the normality of CTIs' distributions, and the normal reference range of 17 CTIs was established with quantile regression. Arrhythmia subset was compared with the non-arrhythmia subset using the Mann-Whitney U test. RESULTS Significant positive correlation (P <.001) and moderate-to-excellent consistency (P <.001) between the manual and HR-IQS automated measurements of CTIs was found. The distribution of CTIs was non-normal (P <.001). The normal range (2.5th to 97.5th percentiles) was successfully established for the 17 CTIs. CONCLUSIONS Using our HR-IQS is feasible for the automated calculation of CTIs in practice and thus could provide a promising tool for the assessment of fetal rhythm and function.

Abstract
Blastocystis sp. is a protozoan parasite that infects the intestines of humans and animals, causing chronic diseases such as skin rashes, abdominal pain, and irritable bowel syndrome. A survey was conducted to determine the prevalence and genetic diversity of Blastocystis sp. infection in cattle, in Hebei Province, China. 2746 cattle fecal samples were collected from 11 cities in Hebei Province and analyzed using polymerase chain reaction targeting the Blastocystis sp. barcoding gene. MEGA, PhyloSuite, and PopART were used to analyze the subtype, sequence signature, pairwise genetic distance, and genetic diversity indices. The results showed that the Blastocystis sp. detection rate was 12.60% (346/2746). The infection rate in different herds was affected by region, age, breeding mode, and variety; that is, the infection rates in areas of southern Hebei, cattle under one year old, intensive raising, and dairy cattle were higher than the infection rates in northern Hebei, cattle over one year old, scatter feeding, and beef cattle. Seven Blastocystis subtypes were identified, namely, ST1, ST2, ST5, ST10, ST14, ST21, and ST26; ST10 was the dominant subtype, and ST14 was the second most common subtype. A total of 374 polymorphic and conserved sites were obtained, including 273 invariable (monomorphic) sites and 101 variable (polymorphic) sites, accounting for 27.01% of all nucleotides. The nucleotide diversity index (Pi) was 0.07749, and the haplotype (gene) diversity index (Hd) was 0.946. This study provides the first comprehensive information on the epidemiological situation of Blastocystis sp. infection in cattle from Hebei Province, China, and revealed rich genetic diversity of Blastocystis sp.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the differences in myopia prevalence and ocular biometry in children and adolescents in Chongqing and Tibet, China. DESIGN Cross-sectional study. SETTING The study included children and adolescents aged 6-18 years in Chongqing, a low-altitude region, and in Qamdo, a high-altitude region of Tibet. PARTICIPANTS A total of 448 participants in Qamdo, Tibet, and 748 participants in Chongqing were enrolled in this study. METHODS All participants underwent uncorrected visual acuity assessment, non-cycloplegic refraction, axial length (AL) measurement, intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement and corneal tomography. And the participants were grouped according to age (6-8, 9-11, 12-14 and 15-18 years group), and altitude of location (primary school students: group A (average altitude: 325 m), group B (average altitude: 2300 m), group C (average altitude: 3250 and 3170 m) and group D (average altitude: 3870 m)). RESULTS There was no statistical difference in mean age (12.09±3.15 vs 12.2±3.10, p=0.549) and sex distribution (males, 50.4% vs 47.6%, p=0.339) between the two groups. The Tibet group presented greater spherical equivalent (SE, -0.63 (-2.00, 0.13) vs -0.88 (-2.88, -0.13), p<0.001), shorter AL (23.45±1.02 vs 23.92±1.19, p<0.001), lower prevalence of myopia (39.7% vs 47.6%, p=0.008) and flatter mean curvature power of the cornea (Km, 43.06±1.4 vs 43.26±1.36, p=0.014) than the Chongqing group. Further analysis based on age subgroups revealed that the Tibet group had a lower prevalence of myopia and higher SE in the 12-14, and 15-18 years old groups, shorter AL in the 9-11, 12-14 and 15-18 years old groups, and lower AL to corneal radius of curvature ratio (AL/CR) in all age subgroups compared with the Chongqing group, while Km was similar between the two groups in each age subgroup. Simple linear regression analysis showed that SE decreased with age in both the Tibet and Chongqing groups, with the Tibet group exhibiting a slower rate of decrease (p<0.001). AL and AL/CR increased with age in both the Tibet and Chongqing groups, but the rate of increase was slower in the Tibet group (p<0.001 of both). Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that AL had the greatest effect on SE in both groups, followed by Km. In addition, the children and adolescents in Tibet presented thinner corneal thickness (CCT, p<0.001), smaller white to white distance (WTW, p<0.001), lower IOP (p<0.001) and deeper anterior chamber depth (ACD, p=0.015) than in Chongqing. Comparison of altitude subgroups showed that the prevalence of myopia (p=0.002), SE (p=0.031), AL (p=0.001) and AL/CR (p<0.001) of children at different altitudes was statistically different but the Km (p=0.189) were similar. The highest altitude, Tengchen County, exhibited the lowest prevalence of myopia and greatest SE among children, and the mean AL also decreased with increasing altitude. CONCLUSIONS Myopia prevalence in Tibet was comparable with that in Chongqing for students aged 6-8 and 9-11 years but was lower and myopia progressed more slowly for students aged 12-14 and 15-18 years than in Chongqing, and AL was the main contributor for this difference, which may be related to higher ultraviolet radiation exposure and lower IOP in children and adolescents at high altitude in Tibet. Differences in AL and AL/CR between Tibet and Chongqing children and adolescents manifested earlier than in SE, underscoring the importance of AL measurement in myopia screening.

Abstract
In recent years, deep learning has ushered in significant development in medical image registration, and the method of non-rigid registration using deep neural networks to generate a deformation field has higher accuracy. However, unlike monomodal medical image registration, multimodal medical image registration is a more complex and challenging task. This paper proposes a new linear-to-nonlinear framework (L2NLF) for multimodal medical image registration. The first linear stage is essentially image conversion, which can reduce the difference between two images without changing the authenticity of medical images, thus transforming multimodal registration into monomodal registration. The second nonlinear stage is essentially unsupervised deformable registration based on the deep neural network. In this paper, a brand-new registration network, CrossMorph, is designed, a deep neural network similar to the U-net structure. As the backbone of the encoder, the volume CrossFormer block can better extract local and global information. Booster promotes the reduction of more deep features and shallow features. The qualitative and quantitative experimental results on T1 and T2 data of 240 patients' brains show that L2NLF can achieve excellent registration effect in the image conversion part with very low computation, and it will not change the authenticity of the converted image at all. Compared with the current state-of-the-art registration method, CrossMorph can effectively reduce average surface distance, improve dice score, and improve the deformation field's smoothness. The proposed methods have potential value in clinical application.

Abstract
X-rays, commonly used in clinical settings, offer advantages such as low radiation and cost-efficiency. However, their limitation lies in the inability to distinctly visualize overlapping organs. In contrast, Computed Tomography (CT) scans provide a three-dimensional view, overcoming this drawback but at the expense of higher radiation doses and increased costs. Hence, from both the patient's and hospital's standpoints, there is substantial medical and practical value in attempting the reconstruction from two-dimensional X-ray images to three-dimensional CT images. In this paper, we introduce DP-GAN+B as a pioneering approach for transforming two-dimensional frontal and lateral lung X-rays into three-dimensional lung CT volumes. Our method innovatively employs depthwise separable convolutions instead of traditional convolutions and introduces vector and fusion loss for superior performance. Compared to prior models, DP-GAN+B significantly reduces the generator network parameters by 21.104 M and the discriminator network parameters by 10.82 M, resulting in a total reduction of 31.924 M (44.17%). Experimental results demonstrate that our network can effectively generate clinically relevant, high-quality CT images from X-ray data, presenting a promising solution for enhancing diagnostic imaging while mitigating cost and radiation concerns.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Centralized quarantine was applied in response to the coronavirus disease 2019 outbreak. The present study aimed to investigate changes in psychological status of isolated individuals before and after quarantine. METHODS Between August 2020 and July 2021, 648 participants completed the following psychometric evaluations before and after centralized quarantine: 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire for depression, 7-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder for anxiety, the Chinese version of the Connor Davidson Resilience Scale for psychological resilience, the Chinese version of the Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire for coping style, Jiang's revised Chinese version of the Perceived Social Support Scale for social support and the Chinese version of the Impact of Events Scale for stress. RESULTS At the beginning of centralized quarantine, 83.2% (n=539) of participants had no depressive mood, 11% (n=71) had mild depressive mood and 5.8% (n=38) had moderate-severe depressive mood. At the end of quarantine, 80.8% (n=524) of participants had no depressive mood, 13% (n=84) had mild depressive mood and 6.2% (n=41) had moderate-severe depressive mood. At the beginning of the centralized quarantine, 86.7% (n=562) of participants had no anxiety, 9.6% (n=62) had mild anxiety and 3.7% (n=24) had moderate-severe anxiety. At the end of quarantine, 85.8% (n=556) of participants had no anxiety, 11.6% (n=75) had mild anxiety and 2.6% (n=17) had moderate-severe anxiety. After 2 weeks of centralized quarantine, anxiety (t=2.175, p<0.05), stress (t=7.453, p<0.01) and three stress subscale scores (p<0.01) decreased significantly; psychology resilience (t=-3.63, p<0.01), tenacity (t=-4.747, p<0.01), active coping style (t=-3.83, p<0.01) and support outside family (t=-3.07, p<0.05) all increased significantly. No significant change was observed in depression, strength, optimism, passive coping style or support inside family. Depression and anxiety scores associated significantly with resilience, stress, coping styles and social support scores. Anxiety (B=0.488, β=0.413, p<0.01), psychological resilience (B=-0.047, β=-0.203, p<0.01) and stress (B=1.475, β=0.167, p<0.1) scores before centralized quarantine were associated with depression after quarantine. Depression (B=0.323, β=0.422, p<0.01), psychological resilience (B=-0.022, β=-0.123, p<0.01) and stress (B=1.408, β=0.207, p<0.01) scores before quarantine also influenced anxiety levels after quarantine. A cross-lagged panel model indicated that depression, anxiety, resilience and stress scores at the first assessment were predictive of depression and anxiety levels at the second assessment. CONCLUSIONS Good mental health during centralized quarantine was associated with high scores of psychological resilience, impact of events, coping styles and social support and did not become worse in settings where adequate support was available.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate whole-node histogram parameters of blood flow (BF) maps derived from three-dimensional pseudo-continuous arterial spin-labelled (3D pCASL) imaging in discriminating metastatic from benign upper cervical lymph nodes (UCLNs) for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS Eighty NPC patients with a total of 170 histologically confirmed UCLNs (67 benign and 103 metastatic) were included retrospectively. Pre-treatment 3D pCASL imaging was performed and whole-node histogram analysis was then applied. Histogram parameters and morphological features, such as minimum axis diameter (MinAD), maximum axis diameter (MaxAD), and location of UCLNs, were assessed and compared between benign and metastatic lesions. Predictors were identified and further applied to establish a combined model by multivariate logistic regression in predicting the probability of metastatic UCLNs. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to analyse the diagnostic performance. RESULTS Metastatic UCLNs had larger MinAD and MinAD/MaxAD ratio, greater energy and entropy values, and higher incidence of level II (upper jugular group), but lower BF10th value than benign nodes (all p<0.05). MinAD, BF10th, energy, and entropy were validated as independent predictors in diagnosing metastatic UCLNs. The combined model yielded an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.932, accuracy of 84.42 %, sensitivity of 80.6 %, and specificity of 90.29 %. CONCLUSIONS Whole-node histogram analysis on BF maps is a feasible tool to differentiate metastatic from benign UCLNs in NPC patients, and the combined model can further improve the diagnostic efficacy.

Abstract
Fusarium head blight (FHB), caused by Fusarium graminearum species complexes (FGSG), is an epidemic disease in wheat and poses a serious threat to wheat production and security worldwide. Profilins are a class of actin-binding proteins that participate in actin depolymerization. However, the roles of profilins in plant fungal pathogens remain largely unexplored. Here, we identified FgPfn, a homolog to profilins in F. graminearum, and the deletion of FgPfn resulted in severe defects in mycelial growth, conidia production, and pathogenicity, accompanied by marked disruptions in toxisomes formation and deoxynivalenol (DON) transport, while sexual development was aborted. Additionally, FgPfn interacted with Fgα1 and Fgβ2, the significant components of microtubules. The organization of microtubules in the ΔFgPfn was strongly inhibited under the treatment of 0.4 μg/mL carbendazim, a well-known group of tubulin interferers, resulting in increased sensitivity to carbendazim. Moreover, FgPfn interacted with both myosin-5 (FgMyo5) and actin (FgAct), the targets of the fungicide phenamacril, and these interactions were reduced after phenamacril treatment. The deletion of FgPfn disrupted the normal organization of FgMyo5 and FgAct cytoskeleton, weakened the interaction between FgMyo5 and FgAct, and resulting in increased sensitivity to phenamacril. The core region of the interaction between FgPfn and FgAct was investigated, revealing that the integrity of both proteins was necessary for their interaction. Furthermore, mutations in R72, R77, R86, G91, I101, A112, G113, and D124 caused the non-interaction between FgPfn and FgAct. The R86K, I101E, and D124E mutants in FgPfn resulted in severe defects in actin organization, development, and pathogenicity. Taken together, this study revealed the role of FgPfn-dependent cytoskeleton in development, DON production and transport, fungicides sensitivity in F. graminearum.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the surgical strategy for chronic pancreatitis complicated with suspected malignant lesions in the pancreatic head and pancreatolithiasis in the distal pancreas. Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study. Clinical data from 11 patients with chronic pancreatitis who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy combined with longitudinal pancreaticojejunostomy(PD-L) were retrospectively collected(PD-L group) from the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University between December 2021 and September 2023. All patients were male with an age of (49.0±11.2) years(range:32 to 70 years). Their primary preoperative diagnoses included pancreatic lesions, chronic pancreatitis, pancreatolithiasis, and dilatation of the pancreatic duct. Data from 248 patients who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD) during the same period were retrospectively collected(PD group). There were 157 males and 91 females in the PD group, with an age of (61.5±10.8) years(range:27 to 82 years). Among them, 87 cases were diagnosed as pancreatic cancer or chronic pancreatitis. The propensity score matching method was used to reduce confounding bias between the two groups. The caliper value of 0.1 was used and the 1∶4 nearest neighbor matching method was used for the matching. Comparisons between the two groups were made using the independent sample t test, Mann-Whitney U test or χ2 test,respectively. Results: After complete excision of the specimen during pancreaticoduodenectomy, the key surgical step of PD-L was longitudinal pancreaticojejunostomy in the remaining pancreas. Intraoperative blood loss in the PD-L group was lower than that in the PD group [M(IQR)](300(200)ml vs. 500(500)ml, respectively; P<0.05). Similarly, hospitalization days(21.0(7.0)days vs. 25.0(8.5)days) and postoperative hospitalization days(13.0(8.0)days vs. 17.0(5.0) days) were also lower in the PD-L group compared to the PD group (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in the operation time and postoperative complication rate between the two groups(P>0.05). In the PD-L group, the postoperative follow-up time was 5(5)months(range: 3 to 21 months). One case was lost for follow-up. Abdominal pain was relieved in 10 patients. Additionally, abdominal distension and steatosis were alleviated in 8 cases. Furthermore, 5 cases of diabetes mellitus showed improved control of HbA1c and fasting blood glucose levels after surgery. Conclusions: PD-L treatment can be used to treat chronic pancreatitis complicated by suspected malignant lesions in the pancreatic head and pancreatolithiasis in the distal pancreas. PD-L also has advantages in removing stones from the pancreatic duct and evaporation of pancreatic fluid. However, due to the single-center design and the small sample size of this study, further practice and long-term follow-up are still necessary.

Abstract
PURPOSE Prehabilitation, which is the process of enhancing functional capacity before undergoing surgery or other treatments, has been shown to improve cancer patients' outcomes. Patient and healthcare provider attitudes and perceptions are essential factors in the successful implementation of prehabilitation. The purpose of this systematic review is to synthesize qualitative evidence and explore the barriers and facilitators to prehabilitation implementation. METHODS From the earliest available date to October 2023, 7 databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Embase, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and MEDLINE) were searched for a systematic review. Data were extracted, thematically analysed, and mapped onto the Capability, Opportunity, and Motivation Model of Behaviour (COM-B). The Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP) tool was used to assess the quality of the studies. RESULTS A total of 26 studies were included, involving 377 patients, 51 caregivers, and 156 healthcare providers. 16 factors were identified and mapped onto the COM-B model: reflective/automatic motivation, physical/social opportunity, physical/ psychological capability. CONCLUSIONS Patients and healthcare provides identified a lack of reflective motivation and physical opportunities as the most significant barriers to engagement in prehabilitation. Personalized approaches, social support, and healthcare providers' engagement are key factors for prehabilitation. Future research should focus on developing effective interventions to enhance the uptake and sustainability of prehabilitation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Preserving laryngeal function and reconstructing the hypopharynx in advanced hypopharyngeal cancer pose significant challenges for head and neck surgeons. METHODS A 48-year-old male patient was diagnosed with advanced hypopharyngeal cancer originating from the left pyriform sinus. The tumor extended into the hypopharynx, left vocal cord, ventricular fold, partial aryepiglottic fold, and a segment of the cervical esophagus. A curative tumor resection was performed, and a well-thought-out strategy was employed for hypopharyngeal repair and laryngeal reconstruction. RESULTS Following the surgery, the patient demonstrated exceptional flap survival, and the tracheostomy tube was removed at the 6-month mark. No surgery-related complications were observed, and both swallowing and vocal functions exhibited a robust recovery. CONCLUSION Our reconstruction strategy proves effective in preserving laryngeal function among patients with advanced hypopharyngeal cancer.

Abstract
Qingyuan partridge chicken (QYM) is a highly regarded native breed in China, highly esteemed for its exceptional breeding characteristics. However, the investigation into the selection signatures and its strains remains largely unexplored. In this study, blood sampling, DNA extracting, and high-depth resequencing were performed in 27 QYMs. Integrating the genomic data of 14 chicken (70 individuals) breeds from other researches, to analyze the genetic structure, selection signatures, and effects of selective breeding within QYM and its 3 strains (QYMA, QYMB, and QYMC). Population structure analysis revealed an independent QYM cluster, which exhibited distinct from other breeds, with each of its 3 strains displaying distinct clustering patterns. Linkage disequilibrium analysis highlighted QYMB's notably slower decay rate, potentially influenced by selection pressure from various production indicators. Examination of selection signatures uncovered genes and genetic mechanisms associated with genomic changes resulting from extensive selective breeding within the QYM and its strains. Intriguingly, diacylglycerol kinase beta (DGKB) and catenin alpha 2 (CTNNA2) were identified as commonly selected genes across the 3 QYM strains, linked to energy metabolism, muscle development, and fat metabolism. Our research validates the substantial impact of selective breeding on QYM and its strains, concurrently identifying genomic regions and signaling pathways associated with their distinctive characters. This research also establishes a fundamental framework for advancing yellow-feathered broiler breeding strategies.

Abstract
The whitefly Bemisia tabaci poses a significant threat to various crops and ornamental plants and causes severe damage to the agricultural industry. Over the past few decades, B. tabaci has developed resistance to several pesticides, including imidacloprid. Therefore, elucidating the mechanism that leads to insecticide detoxification is very important for controlling B. tabaci and managing whitefly resistance to neonicotinoid insecticides. Among insect detoxification enzymes, glutathione S-transferase (GST) is an important phase II detoxification enzyme that helps detoxify exogenous toxic substances. In this study, we cloned the BtGSTz1 gene and observed that its expression level was greater in imidacloprid-resistant populations than sensitive populations of B. tabaci. By silencing BtGSTz1 via RNA interference, we found a significant increase in the mortality of imidacloprid-resistant B. tabaci. Additionally, prokaryotic expression and in vitro metabolism studies revealed that the recombinant BtGSTz1 protein could metabolize 36.36% of the total imidacloprid, providing direct evidence that BtGSTz1 plays a crucial role in the detoxification of imidacloprid. Overall, our study elucidated the role of GSTs in physiological activities related to insecticide resistance, which helps clarify the resistance mechanisms conferred by GSTs and provides useful insights for sustainable integrated pest management.

Abstract
Interfacial solar vapor generation (ISVG) is an emerging technology to alleviate the global freshwater crisis. However, high-cost, low freshwater collection rate, and salt-blockage issues significantly hinder the practical application of solar-driven desalination devices based on ISVG. Herein, with a low-cost copper plate (CP), nonwoven fabric (NWF), and insulating ethylene-vinyl acetate foam (EVA foam), a multistage device is elaborately fabricated for highly efficient simultaneous freshwater and salt collection. In the designed solar-driven device, a superhydrophobic copper plate (SH-CP) serves as the condensation layer, facilitating rapid mass and heat transfer through dropwise condensation. Moreover, the hydrophilic NWF is designed with rational hydrophobic zones and specific high-salinity solution outlets (Design-NWF) to act as the water evaporation layer and facilitate directional salt collection. As a result, the multistage evaporator with eight stages exhibits a high water collection rate of 2.25 kg m-2 h-1 under 1 sun irradiation. In addition, the desalination device based on the eight-stage evaporator obtains a water collection rate of 13.44 kg m-2 and a salt collection rate of 1.77 kg m-2 per day under natural irradiation. More importantly, it can maintain a steady production for 15 days without obvious performance decay. This bifunctional multistage device provides a feasible and efficient approach for simultaneous desalination and solute collection.

Abstract
Objective To explore the molecular mechanism of Aidi injection in the treatment of prostate cancer (PCa). Materials and methods CCK-8 and colony formation assays were used to detect the effects of Aidi on PC3 and DU145 cells; effects on the cell cycle and apoptosis of DU145 cells were detected by flow cytometry; effects on migration and invasion of PC3 and DU145 cells were detected by wound healing and transwell assay, respectively. The main active components of Aidi, their corresponding targets, and PCa associated pathways were predicted and analyzed by network pharmacology. Then predicted key targets and related signaling pathways were further verified by western blotting. The potential active components of Aidi were predicted by molecular docking technology. Results Aidi significantly inhibited the proliferation, colony formation, migration, and invasion of PC3 and DU145 cells; Aidi induced apoptosis and cell cycle G2/M phase arrest of DU145 cells. Network pharmacology analysis yielded 36 potential core targets of Aidi against PCa, and the top 10 signaling pathways including MAPK, PI3K-Akt, and HIF-1α and so on were enriched. Western blotting confirmed that Aidi upregulated the expression levels of p-JNK, p-p38, p-ERK, and ERK in DU145 cells. Molecular docking study showed that kaempferol, (Z)-1-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one, 7-O-methylisomucronulatol, calycosin, and N-salicylidene-salicylamine can be well binding with JNK and p38. Conclusion Aidi could inhibit PCa cell proliferation and metastasis through induction of apoptosis and cell cycle arrest, which may be related to activating JNK and p38 signaling pathway.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of intraarticular vancomycin on early periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) in knee arthroplasty and the incidence of postoperative complications. Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study. The clinical data of 1 867 patients who underwent primary knee arthroplasty at Department of Joint Surgery, the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University from April 2022 to June 2023 were retrospectively analysed, including total knee arthroplasty (TKA), robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty (RA-TKA) and unicondylar knee arthroplasty (UKA). There were 687 males and 1180 females, aged (68.0±11.2)years(range:45 to 87 years). Patients were divided into the vancomycin group and the control group according to whether or not intra-articular injection of 1 g of vancomycin powder dissolved in 30 ml of saline was performed after intraoperative joint capsule closure. In the vancomycin group, 925 patients were included, including 782 TKA, 27 RA-TKA and 116 UKA.In the control group, 942 patients were included, including 767 TKA, 99 RA-TKA and 76 UKA. Early PJI, wound complications, and vancomycin-related toxicity including acute renal collapse, ototoxicity, and allergic reactions were assessed within 3 months postoperatively. Results: No PJI was found in all patients in the vancomycin group.Five cases (0.7%,5/767) of early PJI were found in TKA patients in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P=0.030); 1 case of early PJI was found in each RA-TKA and UKA patients, with non-significant difference compared with vancomycin group (all P>0.05). Two cases (0.3%,2/782) of incisional complications were found in TKA patients in the vancomycin group, and 4 cases (0.5%, 4/767) of incisional complications were found in TKA patients in the control group, with non-significant difference(P=0.449); no incisional complications were found in RA-TKA patients in the vancomycin group, and 1 case (1.0%,1/99) of incisional complications were found in RA-TKA patients in the control group, the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05); no incisional complications were found in both groups of UKA patients.No vancomycin-related acute kidney injury, ototoxicity, or allergic reactions was observed in all patients. Conclusion: Intra-articular injection of 1 g of vancomycin suspension after arthrotomy closure during TKA maybe lower the risk of early PJI without increasing the risk of wound complication and vancomycin-associated systemic toxicity.

Abstract
The vitellogenin present in the bloodstream undergoes internalization into developing oocytes through the vitellogenin receptor (VgR), a process mediated by receptor-mediated endocytosis. VgR plays a crucial role in facilitating the accumulation of vitellogenin and the maturation of oocytes. In this study, we characterized a Tachypleus tridentatus vitellogenin receptor (TtVgR) gene from the tri-spine horseshoe crab, revealing a length of 1956 bp and encoding 652 amino acid residues with 12 exons. TtVgR has a molecular weight of 64.26 kDa and an isoelectric point of 5.95. Predictions indicate 85 phosphorylation sites and 7 glycosylation sites within TtVgR. Transcriptional analysis demonstrated specific expression of TtVgR in the ovary and yellow connective tissue. TtVgR was identified and distributed in the plasma membrane of oocytes. The siRNA-mediated TtVgR knockdown significantly reduced the transcriptional activity of TtVgR. This depletion induced excessive ROS production, resulting in DNA damage in ovarian primary cells. TUNEL and flow cytometry analyses confirmed ovarian cell apoptosis following TtVgR knockdown, indicating DNA damage in ovarian primary cells. These findings underscore the importance of TtVgR in ovarian cell development, suggesting its potential involvement in vitellogenesis and oocyte maturation. This knowledge may inform innovative breeding strategies and contribute to the sustainable management and conservation of the tri-spine horseshoe crab.

Abstract
Clinical guidelines include monitoring blood test abnormalities to identify patients at increased risk of undiagnosed cancer. Noting blood test changes over time may improve cancer risk stratification by considering a patient's individual baseline and important changes within the normal range. We aimed to review the published literature to understand the association between blood test trends and undiagnosed cancer. MEDLINE and EMBASE were searched until 15 May 2023 for studies assessing the association between blood test trends and undiagnosed cancer. We used descriptive summaries and narratively synthesised studies. We included 29 articles. Common blood tests were haemoglobin (24%, n = 7), C-reactive protein (17%, n = 5), and fasting blood glucose (17%, n = 5), and common cancers were pancreatic (29%, n = 8) and colorectal (17%, n = 5). Of the 30 blood tests studied, an increasing trend in eight (27%) was associated with eight cancer types, and a decreasing trend in 17 (57%) with 10 cancer types. No association was reported between trends in 11 (37%) tests and breast, bile duct, glioma, haematological combined, liver, prostate, or thyroid cancers. Our review highlights trends in blood tests that could facilitate the identification of individuals at increased risk of undiagnosed cancer. For most possible combinations of tests and cancers, there was limited or no evidence.

Abstract
In drug discovery, selecting targeted molecules is crucial as the target could directly affect drug efficacy and the treatment outcomes. As a member of the CCN family, CTGF (also known as CCN2) is an essential regulator in the progression of various diseases, including fibrosis, cancer, neurological disorders, and eye diseases. Understanding the regulatory mechanisms of CTGF in different diseases may contribute to the discovery of novel drug candidates. Summarizing the CTGF-targeting and -inhibitory drugs is also beneficial for the analysis of the efficacy, applications, and limitations of these drugs in different disease models. Therefore, we reviewed the CTGF structure, the regulatory mechanisms in various diseases, and drug development in order to provide more references for future drug discovery.

Abstract
AIMS To evaluate long COVID of gustatory dysfunction and the associated risk factors regarding onset and recovery in Chinese patients. METHODS We conducted a cross-sectional study of patients with SARS-CoV-2 Omicron infection at Changxing Mobile Cabin Hospital in Shanghai, China, from March to May 2022. A prospective follow-up of patients with gustatory dysfunction was conducted at 6 months after discharge. RESULTS In total, 18.48% (241/1304) reported gustatory dysfunction. The 6-month follow-up response rate was 89.63% (216/241) and 74.02% recovered their taste sense within 1-3 weeks. A total of 20.37% of patients (44/216) presented with long COVID. Symptoms persisted for 12 patients (5.56%) after 6 months. Having multiple taste impairments (OR, 2.364; 95% CI, 1.286-4.348; p = 0.006) was associated with a higher risk of gustatory dysfunction with long COVID. Having received a COVID-19 vaccine booster was positively associated with taste sensation recovery (HR, 1.344; 95% CI, 1.012-1.785; p = 0.041). CONCLUSIONS About 20.37% of patients with COVID-19 might develop long COVID of gustatory dysfunction and 5.56% with persisting changes in their sense of taste. Most patients recovered taste sensations within 1-3 weeks after COVID-19 symptom onset and receiving a booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccine presented a protective effect on the taste sensation recovery.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the short-term efficacy and safety of cardiac contractility modulation (CCM) in patients with heart failure. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of patients with heart failure who underwent CCM placement at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from February to June 2022. With a follow-up of 3 months, CCM sensation, impedance, percent output, and work time were monitored, and patients were compared with pre-and 3-month postoperative left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) values, and 6-minute walk test distance and New York Heart Association (NYHA) cardiac function classification, and the occurrence of complications was recorded. Results: CCM was successfully implanted in all 9 patients. Seven(7/9) of them were male, aged (56±14) years, 3 patients had ischaemic cardiomyopathy and 6 patients had dilated cardiomyopathy. At 3-month postoperative follow-up, threshold was stable, sense was significantly lower at follow-up than before (right ventricle: (16.3±7.0) mV vs. (8.2±1.1) mV, P<0.05; local sense: (15.7±4.9) mV vs. (6.7±2.5) mV, P<0.05), and impedance was significantly lower at follow-up than before (right ventricle (846±179) Ω vs. (470±65) Ω, P<0.05, local sense: (832±246) Ω vs. (464±63) Ω, P<0.05). The CCM output percentage was (86.9±10.7) %, the output amplitude was (6.7±0.4) V, and the daily operating time was (8.6±1.0) h. LVEF was elevated compared to preoperative ((29.4±5.2) % vs. (38.3±4.3) %, P<0.05), the 6-minute walk test was significantly longer than before ((96.8±66.7)m vs. (289.3±121.7)m, P<0.05). No significant increase in the number of NYHA Class Ⅲ-Ⅳ patients was seen (7/9 vs. 2/9, P>0.05). The patient was not re-hospitalised for worsening heart failure symptoms, had no malignant arrhythmic events and experienced significant relief of symptoms such as chest tightness and shortness of breath. No postoperative complications related to pocket hematoma, pocket infection and rupture, electrode detachment, valve function impairment, pericardial effusion, or cardiac perforation were found. Conclusions: CCM has better short-term safety and efficacy in patients with heart failure.

Abstract
The spread of livestock manure-borne antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) into agroecosystems through manure application poses a potential threat to human health. However, there is still a knowledge gap concerning ARG dissemination in coalescing manure, soil and plant microbiomes. Here, we examined the fate of tetracycline resistance genes (TRGs) originating from pig manure microbiomes and spread in the soil-A thaliana system and explored the effects of microbial functions on TRGs spread at different interfaces. Our results indicate that the TRGs abundances in all microbiome continuum of the soil-A. thaliana system were significantly increased with the application of a living manure microbiome, although the addition of manure with both an active and inactive microbiome caused a shift in the microbial community composition. This was attributed to the increasing relative abundances of tetA, tetL, tetM, tetO, tetW and tolC in the system. The application of living manure with DOX residues resulted in the highest relative abundance of total TRGs (3.30×10-3 copies/16S rRNA gene copies) in the rhizosphere soil samples. Community coalescence of the manure and soil microbiomes increased the abundance of Firmicutes in the soil and root microbiome, which directly explains the increase in TRG abundance observed in these interfaces. In contrast, the leaf microbiome differed markedly from that of the remaining samples, indicating strong plant host filtering effects on Firmicutes and TRGs from pig manure. The random forest machine learning model revealed microbial functions and their significant positive correlation with TRG abundance in the microbiome continuum of the system. Our findings revealed that community coalescence is the main driver of TRG spread from manure to the soil and root microbiomes. Plant host filtering effects play a crucial role in allowing certain microbial groups to occupy ecological niches in the leaves, thereby limiting the establishment of manure-borne TRGs in aboveground plant tissues.

Abstract
This study aimed to develop and validate a nomogram model that includes clinical and laboratory indicators to predict the risk of metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) in young Chinese individuals. This study retrospectively analyzed a cohort of young population who underwent health examination from November 2018 to December 2021 at The Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University in Luzhou City, Sichuan Province, China. We extracted the clinical and laboratory data of 43,040 subjects and randomized participants into the training and validation groups (7:3). Univariate logistic regression analysis, the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression, and multivariate logistic regression models identified significant variables independently associated with MAFLD. The predictive accuracy of the model was analyzed in the training and validation sets using area under the receiver operating characteristic (AUROC), calibration curves, and decision curve analysis. In this study, we identified nine predictors from 31 variables, including age, gender, body mass index, waist-to-hip ratio, alanine aminotransferase, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, uric acid, and smoking. The AUROC for the subjects in the training and validation groups was 0.874 and 0.875, respectively. The calibration curves show excellent accuracy of the nomogram. This nomogram which was based on demographic characteristics, lifestyle habits, anthropometrics, and laboratory data can visually and individually predict the risk of developing MAFLD. This nomogram is a quick and effective screening tool for assessing the risk of MAFLD in younger populations and identifying individuals at high risk of MAFLD, thereby contributing to the improvement of MAFLD management.

Abstract
With recent advancements in robotic surgery, notable strides have been made in visual question answering (VQA). Existing VQA systems typically generate textual answers to questions but fail to indicate the location of the relevant content within the image. This limitation restricts the interpretative capacity of the VQA models and their ability to explore specific image regions. To address this issue, this study proposes a grounded VQA model for robotic surgery, capable of localizing a specific region during answer prediction. Drawing inspiration from prompt learning in language models, a dual-modality prompt model was developed to enhance precise multimodal information interactions. Specifically, two complementary prompters were introduced to effectively integrate visual and textual prompts into the encoding process of the model. A visual complementary prompter merges visual prompt knowledge with visual information features to guide accurate localization. The textual complementary prompter aligns visual information with textual prompt knowledge and textual information, guiding textual information towards a more accurate inference of the answer. Additionally, a multiple iterative fusion strategy was adopted for comprehensive answer reasoning, to ensure high-quality generation of textual and grounded answers. The experimental results validate the effectiveness of the model, demonstrating its superiority over existing methods on the EndoVis-18 and EndoVis-17 datasets.
