Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS We aim to quantify the variation in root distribution in a set of 35 experimental wheat lines. We also compared the effect of variation in hydraulic properties of the rhizosphere on water uptake by roots. METHODS We measured the root length density and soil drying in 35 wheat lines in a field experiment. A 3D numerical model was used to predict soil drying profiles with the different root length distributions and compared with measured soil drying. The model was used to test different scenarios of the hydraulic properties of the rhizosphere. RESULTS We showed that wheat lines with no detectable differences in root length density can induce soil drying profiles with statistically significant differences. Our data confirmed that a root length density of at least 1 cm/cm3 is needed to drain all the available water in soil. In surface layers where the root length density was far greater than 1 cm/cm3 water uptake was independent of rooting density due to competition for water. However, in deeper layers where root length density was less than 1 cm/cm3, water uptake by roots was proportional to root density. CONCLUSION In a set of wheat lines with no detectable differences in the root length density we found significant differences in water uptake. This may be because small differences in root density at depth can result in larger differences in water uptake or that the hydraulic properties of the rhizosphere can greatly affect water uptake.

Abstract
Portal hypertension is the major cause of complications in decompensated liver cirrhosis. Research results showed that non-selective β-blockers, angiotensin receptor antagonists, and statins can improve portal hypertension by reducing portal vein blood flow and intrahepatic resistance, and have certain prevention and treatment effect on hemodynamic disorders and portal hypertensive complications in chronic liver diseases. Herein, we review the mechanism of action, clinical effects and limitations of these three types of drugs on portal hypertension of cirrhosis.

Abstract
Perfluorinated substances are global and ubiquitous pollutants. The persistent organic pollution of perfluorochemicals (PFCs) have drawn attentions worldwide. In view of the current need for sustainable development, many researchers began to study the remediation techniques for PFCs. Due to its unique hydrophobic and oil-phobic characteristics, the requirements for the PFCs removal process are different, so that their remediation techniques are still under continuous exploration. Hence, this review summarized the removal behaviors of various PFCs on different materials which supply a good foundation for future investigations in this field. It is evident from previous literature that every remediation techniques for PFCs has its own advantages. Among various currently evaluated removal methods, adsorption seems to be one of the most commonly used and recognized techniques for PFCs pollution control. Other innovative and promising techniques, such as physical and/or chemical methods, have also been tested for their effectiveness in removing perfluorinated compounds.

Abstract
Merits of adding P25 to homogeneous photo-Fenton-like process (ph-F) were evaluated under visible light using Bisphenol A (BPA) as a model pollutant. Interactions between P25 and Fe3+/H2O2 were emphasized. Results show that adsorption of Fe(III) on P25 produced redshift of light absorption, and interactions between P25 and H2O2 promoted photoelectron generation, effectively introducing visible light into ph-F. The visible-light-driven ph-F demonstrated adequate performance at high Fe3+/H2O2 dosage, while P25 addition showed significant acceleration of BPA degradation with saving amount of Fe3+/H2O2. The mechanism was confirmed to be enhanced Fe3+/Fe2+ cycling by photo-electrons, particularly pronounced at low [Fe(III)]. Additionally, H2O2 was utilized more efficiently in P25-ph-F than that in ph-F by diminishing the radical scavenging role of H2O2 at lower [Fe(III)]. Kinetics and ESR analysis supported this mechanism. Compared to ph-F, the P25-ph-F process also demonstrated stronger potentials in degrading BPA at high concentrations and better mineralization capability with reduced Fe3+/H2O2 reagents. The sustainability of P25-ph-F was also examined in regard to its advantage under sunlight and the strong recyclable and reusable capability. BPA decomposition was dominated by •OH attack at both the aromatic ring and the connecting carbon, and P25-ph-F was more competent in transforming the primary intermediates than ph-F.

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the clinical characteristics, imaging features and treatment of neurogenic tumor in chilehood and to improve the experience in diagnosis and treatment for the disease. Method:The twenty-nine inpatients of histopathologically proven neurogenic tumor from January 2015 to December 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. The pathological types, clinical characteristics, imaging findings, and management were analyzed. Result: There were five cases of schwannoma aged from 9 years to 14 years, five cases of neurofibroma aged from 9 months to 9 years, and nineteen cases of neuroblastic tumor aged from 3 months to 5 years in our series. The chief manifestations were soft tissue masses, snore, and Honer syndrome. As the tumors had different components pathologically, on scans they presented as masses with heterogeneous density. Schwannoma showed as oval masses with clear margins, with the characteristic of"tail sign". The imaging findings of neurofibromas showed unclear boundaries and plexiform neurofibromas showed multiple clumps with visible separation. The ultrasonography of neuroblastic tumor was characterized by hypoechoic, heterogeneous and spotty calcification. All the cases underwent surgical resections. In 5 cases of schwannoma, it was confirmed that the tumors originated from the vagus nerve during the operation, which could be completely removed without postoperative complications. Two cases of neurofibromas were completely resected, 2 cases were only partially resected, and 1 case which located at the entrance of the esophagus was resected under supportive laryngoscopic for three times. Thirteen of 19 children with neuroblastogenic tumors underwent resection in our department after chemotherapy, and 2 patients with postoperative recurrence underwent another operation. Conclusion:Neuroblastoma is the most common neurogenic tumor in the head and neck of children. Most neurogenic tumors have their corresponding characteristics on imaging and should be differentiated. Schwannoma has clear boundary and intact capsule, so it is easier to complete resection. The neurofibroma is commonly difficult to remove with safety margin because of its unclear boundaries. Neuroblastoma should be treated according to the lesion range and stage. Most of the lesions are difficult to remove completely due to the wide range, peripheral blood vessels and important nerves. So preoperative chemotherapy is generally required.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the influencing factors of acute gastroenteritis outbreaks caused by norovirus in Beijing from 2014 to 2018. Methods: Data of acute gastroenteritis events caused by norovirus in Beijing from April 2014 to March 2018 were collected. Unconditional logistic regression model was conducted to identify the risk factors of the outbreaks. Results: A total of 765 acute gastroenteritis epidemics caused by norovirus were reported in Beijing, in which 85.88% (657/765) were cluster events and 14.12% (108/765) were outbreaks. Among the outbreaks, 70.37% (76/108) were reported in 2017; 84.26% (91/108) were reported in winter and spring; 88.89% (96/108) were reported in kindergartens, primary or secondary schools; 81.48% (88/108) were through person-to-person transmission; 93.52% (101/108) were caused by norovirus GⅡ infection. The risk of outbreaks in suburban and out suburb area were 1.84 times (95%CI: 1.13-3.02) and 3.78 times (95%CI: 1.62-8.82) as high as that in urban area, respectively. The risks of outbreaks in primary, secondary schools and other institutions were 6.26 times (95%CI: 3.53-11.10), 14.98 times (95%CI: 6.23-36.01) and 8.71 times (95%CI: 3.07-24.71) as high as that in kindergartens, respectively. The risk of outbreak in which patients having lower hospital visiting rate than the median rate of all events was 2.29 times than that in the context of having higher hospital visiting rate (95%CI:1.42-3.68). The risk of foodborne outbreak was 14.55 times as high as that transmitted through person-to-person (95%CI: 3.15-67.07). Conclusion: Measures such as strengthening the prevention and control of norovirus outbreaks in suburbs, primary schools, secondary schools and other institutions, promoting patients to visit the hospital actively, improving the management of foodborne events and kitchen workers should be taken to reduce the incidence of acute gastroenteritis outbreaks caused by norovirus.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of 13 types of immunosuppressive agents used to treat idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN) in adults with nephrotic syndrome. DESIGN Systematic review and network meta-analysis. DATA SOURCES PubMed, EMbase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Clinical trials, SinoMed, Chinese Biomedicine, CNKI, WanFang and Chongqing VIP Information databases were comprehensively searched until February 2018. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA Randomised clinical trials (RCTs) comparing the effects of different immunosuppressive treatments in adult patients with IMN and nephrotic syndrome were included, and all included RCTs had a study-duration of at least 6 months. DATA EXTRACTION AND SYNTHESIS Two reviewers independently screened articles, extracted data and assessed study quality. Standard pairwise meta-analysis was performed using DerSimonian-Laird random-effects model. RESULTS This study ultimately included 48 RCTs with 2736 patients and 13 immunosuppressive agents. The network meta-analysis results showed that most regimens, except for leflunomide (LEF), mizoribine (MZB) and steroids (STE), showed significantly higher probabilities of total remission (TR) when compared with non-immunosuppressive therapies (the control group),with risk ratios (RRs) of 2.71 (95% CI) 1.81 to 4.06)for tacrolimus+tripterygium wilfordii (TAC+TW), 2.16 (1.27 to 3.69) foradrenocorticotropic hormone, 2.02 (1.64 to 2.49) for TAC, 2.03 (1.13 to3.64) for azathioprine (AZA), 1.91 (1.46 to 2.50) for cyclosporine (CsA), 1.86 (1.44 to2.42) for mycophenolate mofetil (MMF), 1.85 (1.52 to 2.25) for cyclophosphamide (CTX),1.81 (1.10 to 2.98) for rituximab (RIT), 1.80 (1.38 to 2.33) for TW, 1.72 (1.35 to 2.19) for chlorambucil. As for 24 hours UTP, the direct andindirect comparisons showed that AZA (standard mean difference (SMD), -1.02(95% CI -1.90 to -0.15)), CsA (SMD, -0.70 (95% CI -1.33 to -0.08)),CTX (SMD, -1.01 (95% CI -1.44 to -0.58)), MMF (SMD, -0.98 (95% CI -1.64 to -0.32)), MZB (SMD, -0.97 (95% CI -1.90 to-0.04]), TAC (SMD, -1.16 (95% CI -1.72 to -0.60)) and TAC+TW(SMD, -2.03 (95% CI -2.94 to -1.12)) could significantly superior thancontrol, except for chlorambucil, LEF, RIT and STE. Thechanges of serum creatinine (Scr) was not significantly different between eachtreatments of immunosuppressive agents and the control, except for STE whichhas the possibility of increasing Scr (SMD, 1.00 (95% CI 0.36 to 1.64)).Comparisons among all treatments of immunosuppressive agents showed nostatistical significance in the outcome of relapse. A drenocorticotropichormone (85.1%) showed the lowest probability of relapse under the cumulativeranking curve values among all immunosuppressants. Infection,gastrointestinal symptoms, and bone marrow suppression were the common adverseevents associated with most of the immunosuppressive therapies. CONCLUSIONS This study demonstrates that TAC+TW, TAC and CTX are superior to other immunosuppressive agents in terms of TR and 24 hours UTP. Moreover, they are all at risk of infection, gastrointestinal symptoms, and myelosuppression. Furthermore, TAC could increase the risk of glucose intolerance or new-onset diabetes mellitus. Abstract
This study was conducted to examine the effects of feeding dry-processed sweet potato waste on the growth of broilers. Sweet potato waste was air-dried (A-SPW) or heat-dried (D-SPW). Twenty-four 14-d-old chicks were assigned to the following groups (14-28 days): control, fed a corn-soybean meal-based diet; A-SPW, fed the basal diet with 55% of the corn replaced with A-SPW meal; D-SPW, fed the basal diet with 50% of the corn replaced with D-SPW meal. The feed conversion ratio (feed/gain) of the D-SPW group was greater than that of the A-SPW group. The relative weight of abdominal fat and the muscle lipid content of the D-SPW group were increased compared with those of the A-SPW group. The metabolizabilities of crude protein and gross energy of the D-SPW group were increased compared with those of the A-SPW group. The plasma α-tocopherol concentrations of the A-SPW and D-SPW groups were greater than that of the control group. Plasma malondialdehyde was decreased in the A-SPW and D-SPW groups, and muscle malondialdehyde was decreased in the D-SPW group, compared with the control group. Our results demonstrate that dry-heat processing improves the nutrient metabolizability of sweet potato waste and makes it into available feed for broilers.

Abstract
Chitosan (CS) stacking mats with excellent performance for adsorption of copper ions (Cu(II)) in wastewater were fabricated by alternating electrospinning/electrospraying. The hierarchical structure of the stacking membranes was designed by CS micro-hemispheres sandwiched between CS fibers. The CS stack membranes prepared by the electrospinning technology could effectively increase the specific surface area, and thus, facilitate the adsorption of copper ions. CS stacking membranes with three layers reached adsorption equilibrium within 60 min, and had a maximum absorbance of 276.2 mg/g. The absorbance performance was superior to most of the reported CS adsorbents. Compared with CS fiber mats which were dominated by CS chemical structure during adsorption, the stacking structure of CS membranes contributed to the high efficient capability, and exhibited the multilayer adsorption behavior. This study may develop a promising method for the design of environmentally-friendly natural polymer adsorbents to remove Cu(II) in wastewater.

Abstract
SARM1 (sterile alpha and TIR motif containing 1) is responsible for depletion of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide in its oxidized form (NAD+) during Wallerian degeneration associated with neuropathies. Plant nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat (NLR) immune receptors recognize pathogen effector proteins and trigger localized cell death to restrict pathogen infection. Both processes depend on closely related Toll/interleukin-1 receptor (TIR) domains in these proteins, which, as we show, feature self-association-dependent NAD+ cleavage activity associated with cell death signaling. We further show that SARM1 SAM (sterile alpha motif) domains form an octamer essential for axon degeneration that contributes to TIR domain enzymatic activity. The crystal structures of ribose and NADP+ (the oxidized form of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate) complexes of SARM1 and plant NLR RUN1 TIR domains, respectively, reveal a conserved substrate binding site. NAD+ cleavage by TIR domains is therefore a conserved feature of animal and plant cell death signaling pathways.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical features, the risk factors of mortality and drug resistance of the isolates in patients with group B streptococcus (GBS) meningitis. Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed in 96 children with GBS meningitis (46 males and 50 females) at Beijing Children's Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University from January 2013 to October 2017. The clinical characteristics, prognosis and drug resistance were reviewed and analyzed. According to the onset time, the patients were divided into early onset disease (EOD, 0-6 days), late onset disease (LOD, 7-89 days) and very late onset disease (VLOD, 90 days-16 years), the clinical features were compared. According to the results of cranial imaging examination, the patients were divided into two groups: those with neurological complications and those without neurological complications. The influencing factors of neurological complications were analyzed. According to the outcome of 28 days after discharge, patients were divided into death group and survival group. The risk factors of mortality were analyzed by multivariate Logistic regression analysis. Non-numeric variables were analyzed with χ(2) test or Fisher's exact test. Numeric variable between groups were compared with nonparametric test. Results: A total of 96 patients were enrolled, including 18 (19%) EOD, 71 (74%) LOD and 7 (7%) VLOD cases. The median age of EOD cases was 2 days, with a range from 0 to 6 days. The median age of LOD cases was 31 days, with a range from 7 to 81 days. The median age of VLOD cases was 153 days, with a range from 95 to 214 days. Before the onset of the disease, the mother had mastitis in 6 cases and premature rupture of membranes in 6 cases. The common clinical manifestations of patients were fever (95%, 91/96), anorexia (65%, 62/96), seizure (56%, 54/96), and consciousness changes (36%, 35/96). The differences were statistically significant in gender (13/18 vs. 28/71 vs. 5/7, χ(2)=7.705, P=0.024), the number of cases who was admitted to intensive care unit (ICU) (5/18 vs. 31/71 vs. 0, χ(2)=6.065, P=0.042) and peripheral blood leukocyte (12(4, 18)×10(9)/L vs. 6(3, 11)×10(9)/L vs. 13(6, 17)×10(9)/L, H=9.885, P=0.007) in EOD group, LOD group and VLOD group. Cranial imaging was performed in 94 patients, 60 patients (64%) developed neurological complications, including subdural effusion (31/94, 33%), followed by intracranial hemorrhage (26/94, 28%), cerebral softening (19/94, 20%), cerebral atrophy (15/94, 16%), ependinitis (8/94, 9%) and hydrocephalus (4/94, 4%). By univariate χ(2) test analysis, seizure (63% (38/60) vs.41% (14/34), χ(2)=4.310, P=0.038) was a risk factor of neurological complications. Within 28 days after discharge, 88 patients survived and 8 patients died, with a fatality rate of 8%. The independent risk factors for the death were septic shock (OR: 9.548, 95% CI 1.439-63.356, P=0.019) and respiratory failure (OR: 7.053, 95% CI 1.160-42.888, P=0.034). All of isolates were susceptible to penicillin (68/68), ceftriaxone (47/47), cefepime (50/50), vancomycin (60/60) and linezolid (54/54), while the rates of resistance to tetracycline, levofloxacin, clindamycin and erythromycin were 5/12, 17/45, 38/46 and 32/37, respectively. Conclusions: The main type of GBS meningitis is late onset cases. The incidence of neurological complications was high. The independent risk factors for death were septic shock and respiratory failure. The strains were severely resistant to clindamycin and erythromycin.

Abstract
Chitosan/cellulose acetate (CS/CA) used as a biopolymer systema, with the addition of TiO2 as photocatalyst (C-T/CA) were fabricated by alternating electrospinning/electrospraying technology. The uniform dispersion of TiO2 and its recovery after the removal of methyl orange (MO) was achieved by incorporating TiO2 in CS electrosprayed hemispheres. The effects of pH values, contact time, and the amount of TiO2 on adsorption and photocatalytic degradation for MO of the C-T/CA were investigated in detail. When TiO2 content was 3 wt %, the highest MO removal amount for fiber membranes (C-T-3/CA) reached 98% at pH value 4 and MO concentration of 40 mg/L. According to the data analysis, the pseudo-second-order kinetic and Freundlich isotherm model were well fitted to kinetic and equilibrium data of MO removal. Especially for C-T-3/CA, the fiber membrane exhibited multiple layers of adsorption. All these results indicated that adsorption caused by electrostatic interaction and photocatalytic degradation were involved in the MO removal process. This work provides a potential method for developing a novel photocatalyst with excellent catalytic activity, adsorbing capability and recycling use.

Abstract
PURPOSE CEST has become a preeminent technology for the rapid detection and grading of tumors, securing its widespread use in both laboratory and clinical research. However, many existing CEST MRI agents exhibit a sensitivity limitation due to small chemical shifts between their exchangeable protons and water. We propose a new group of CEST MRI agents, free-base porphyrins and chlorin, with large exchangeable proton chemical shifts from water for enhanced detection. METHODS To test these newly identified CEST agents, we acquired a series of Z-spectra at multiple pH values and saturation field strengths to determine their CEST properties. The data were analyzed using the quantifying exchange using saturation power method to quantify exchange rates. After identifying several promising candidates, a porphyrin solution was injected into tumor-bearing mice, and MR images were acquired to assess detection feasibility in vivo. RESULTS Based on the Z-spectra, the inner nitrogen protons in free-base porphyrins and chlorin resonate from -8 to -13.5 ppm from water, far shifted from the majority of endogenous metabolites (0-4 ppm) and Nuclear Overhauser enhancements (-1 to -3.5 ppm) and far removed from the salicylates, imidazoles, and anthranillates (5-12 ppm). The exchange rates are sufficiently slow to intermediate (500-9000 s-1 ) to allow robust detection and were sensitive to substituents on the porphyrin ring. CONCLUSION These results highlight the capabilities of free-base porphyrins and chlorin as highly upfield CEST MRI agents and provide a new scaffold that can be integrated into a variety of diagnostic or theranostic agents for biomedical applications.

Abstract
We investigate wrinkling patterns in a tri-layer torus consisting of an expanding thin outer layer, an intermediate soft layer and an inner core with a tunable shear modulus, inspired by pattern formation in developmental biology, such as follicle pattern formation during the development of chicken embryos. We show from large-scale finite element simulations that hexagonal wrinkling patterns form for stiff cores whereas stripe wrinkling patterns develop for soft cores. Hexagons and stripes co-exist to form hybrid patterns for cores with intermediate stiffness. The governing mechanism for the pattern transition is that the stiffness of the inner core controls the degree to which the major radius of the torus expands - this has a greater effect on deformation in the long direction as compared to the short direction of the torus. This anisotropic deformation alters stress states in the outer layer which change from biaxial (preferred hexagons) to uniaxial (preferred stripes) compression as the core stiffness is reduced. As the outer layer continues to expand, stripe and hexagon patterns will evolve into zigzags and segmented labyrinths, respectively. Stripe wrinkles are observed to initiate at the inner surface of the torus while hexagon wrinkles start from the outer surface as a result of curvature-dependent stresses in the torus. We further discuss the effects of elasticities and geometries of the torus on the wrinkling patterns.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effect of a community-based intervention supporting type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in their self-management of the disease. Methods: This research was a randomized controlled trial conducted in communities in Fangshan District, Beijing, China. Adult patients with type 2 diabetes from 17 communities in 4 sub-district of Fangshan District were randomly assigned to either the intervention or control group. Participants in the intervention group participated in a three-month group-based diabetes self-management intervention service. Data were collected both in intervention and control group at baseline and after the intervention to evaluate the effect of the intervention. A questionnaire survey was completed by all participants to collect their demographic information, diabetes related health behaviors and skills. A physical examination and lab testing including height, weight, blood pressure, and waist circumference as well as HbA1c, fasting blood glucose, lipid profile were conducted before and after the intervention. Results: A total of 500 valid questionnaires were received, including 259 in the intervention group and 241 in the control group. Patients in the intervention group who learned how to conduct the self-monitoring of blood glucose increased from 56.76% (n=147) to 87.26% (n=226) after the intervention, higher than that of control group (63.07%, n=152) (P<0.001). 69.50% (n=180) patients in intervention group had blood glucose monitor at home, which was 60.62% (n=157) prior to the intervention and higher than that of control group (57.68%, n=139) (P=0.004). After the intervention, 3.09% (n=8) patients in intervention group ceased to take medicine by themselves, which was 16.22% (n=42) before the intervention, while the control group was 8.30% (n=20) after the intervention (P=0.009). Patients in the intervention group made significant improvements in implementing self monitoring on blood glucose (SMBG), which was increased from one day per week to 2 days per week, and foot self-examination, which increased from 2 days per week to 7 days per week. The body weight of patients in the intervention group reduced 1.62 kg on average after the intervention, while it increased 0.88 kg in the control group. Similar improvement was found in waist circumstance between the intervention and control group (-0.83 cm vs -0.16 m). There was a significant reduction on body weight and waist circumstance in the intervention group (P<0.05). Conclusion: The group activities focusing on people with type 2 diabetes resulted in improvement in their lifestyle and self management behaviors, as well as their body weight and waist circumstance.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the relationship between the previous cesarean scar thickness, previous cesarean scar defect and the occurrence of uterine rupture for pregnancy women after previous cesarean section and to predict the occurrence of uterine rupture in the third trimester for pregnancy women after previous cesarean section by analyzing the lower uterine segment (LUS) situation or quantitatively measure LUS myometrium thickness. Methods: A total of 154 pregnant women who have a prior cesarean from January 2015 to March 2016 were selected, all of them regularly did the prenatal examination in the pregnancy period and finally gave birth in hospital. By the transvaginal sonograph, the LUS myometrium thickness (transverse and longitudinal thickness) and the size of the previous cesarean scar defect were measured in the first trimester, the LUS myometrium thickness (longitudinal thickness) and qualitatively analysis LUS condition were measured in the third trimester. They were divided into two groups according to the pregnancy outcome: uterine rupture group (found in the cesarean operation or during the pregnancy) and without uterine rupture group (including the vaginal delivery women and those without uterine rupture in the cesarean operation period). The sensitivity and specificity of LUS myometrium thickness in the first trimester and the qualitative analysis LUS situation, the quantitative measurement of LUS myometrium thickness in the third trimester were compared in the prediction of occurrence of uterine rupture (dehiscence or complete rupture). Results: The group without uterine rupture included 134 women (6 vaginal delivery and 128 cesarean delivery), and the group with uterine rupture included 20 women (all of them cesarean delivery). The LUS myometrium thickness in the third trimester in the group without uterine rupture was (1.6±0.5) mm, and was (1.1±0.7) mm in the uterine rupture group (P= 0.004). There were no significant difference between two groups in the mean value of age, height, weight, the interdelivery interval, the LUS myometrium thickness (transverse and longitudinal thickness) in the first trimester. Qualitative analysis of LUS condition had higher specificity (99%), higher positive predictive value (92%), higher negative predictive value (94%) and slightly lower sensitivity (60%) than quantitative measure of LUS myometrium thickness in predicting uterine rupture. Conclusions: Measurement of the LUS myometrium thickness in the first trimester is helpful for predicting the occurrence of uterine rupture, so it is not necessary to terminate the pregnancy because of the thin LUS or the little prior cesarean scar defect in the first trimester. However it should be paid close attention to the LUS situation during the whole gestation. Qualitatively analyzing LUS situation is more meaningful than quantitatively measuring LUS myometrium thickness in predicting the uterine rupture in the third trimester.

Abstract
The biogenesis of animal microRNAs (miRNAs) involves transcription followed by a series of processing steps, with Drosha and Dicer being two key enzymes that cleave primary miRNA (pri-miRNA) and precursor miRNA (pre-miRNA) transcripts, respectively. While human and fly Dicer and human Drosha are well studied, their homologs in other organisms have not been biochemically characterized, leaving open the question of whether their miRNA substrate specificities and regulatory functions are conserved. Zebrafish is a widely used model organism, but its miRNA processing enzymes have never been reconstituted and analyzed. In this study we cloned and constructed expression plasmids encoding zebrafish Dicer, Drosha, and their accessory proteins TARBP2 and DGCR8. After transfection of human cell cultures, we isolated the recombinant protein complexes. We found that zebrafish Dicer bound TARBP2, but Dicer alone exhibited significant pre-miRNA processing activity. On the other hand, zebrafish Drosha associated with DGCR8, and both were required to cleave pri-miRNAs. The Drosha/DGCR8 holoenzyme preferred pri-miRNAs with a large terminal loop, an extended duplex region, and flanking single stranded RNAs. These results lay the foundation for future studies of the regulatory roles and conserved mechanisms of Drosha and Dicer.

Abstract
RATIONALE PKA (Protein Kinase A) is a major mediator of β-AR (β-adrenergic) regulation of cardiac function, but other mediators have also been suggested. Reduced PKA basal activity and activation are linked to cardiac diseases. However, how complete loss of PKA activity impacts on cardiac physiology and if it causes cardiac dysfunction have never been determined. OBJECTIVES We set to determine how the heart adapts to the loss of cardiomyocyte PKA activity and if it elicits cardiac abnormalities. METHODS AND RESULTS (1) Cardiac PKA activity was almost completely inhibited by expressing a PKA inhibitor peptide in cardiomyocytes (cPKAi) in mice; (2) cPKAi reduced basal phosphorylation of 2 myofilament proteins (TnI [troponin I] and cardiac myosin binding protein C), and one longitudinal SR (sarcoplasmic reticulum) protein (PLB [phospholamban]) but not of the sarcolemmal proteins (Cav1.2 α1c and PLM [phospholemman]), dyadic protein RyR2, and nuclear protein CREB (cAMP response element binding protein) at their PKA phosphorylation sites; (3) cPKAi increased the expression of CaMKII (Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent kinase II), the Cav1.2 β subunits and current, but decreased CaMKII phosphorylation and CaMKII-mediated phosphorylation of PLB and RyR2; (4) These changes resulted in significantly enhanced myofilament Ca2+ sensitivity, prolonged contraction, slowed relaxation but increased myocyte Ca2+ transient and contraction amplitudes; (5) Isoproterenol-induced PKA and CaMKII activation and their phosphorylation of proteins were prevented by cPKAi; (6) cPKAi abolished the increases of heart rate, and cardiac and myocyte contractility by a β-AR agonist (isoproterenol), showing an important role of PKA and a minimal role of PKA-independent β-AR signaling in acute cardiac regulation; (7) cPKAi mice have partial exercise capability probably by enhancing vascular constriction and ventricular filling during β-AR stimulation; and (8) cPKAi mice did not show any cardiac functional or structural abnormalities during the 1-year study period. CONCLUSIONS PKA activity suppression induces a unique Ca2+ handling phenotype, eliminates β-AR regulation of heart rates and cardiac contractility but does not cause cardiac abnormalities.

Abstract
The aim of present study was to investigate the effect of different times (5 min (UCPP-5), 10 min (UCPP-10), 20 min (UCPP-20), and 30 min (UCPP-30)) of ultrasound treatment on physicochemical, thermal, and antioxidant properties of chicken plasma protein (CPP). UCPP-20 had the highest fluorescence intensity and the lowest particle size. However, no major changes in the subunit compositions and the secondary structure of UCPPs were presented in SDS-PAGE and circular dichroism. The surface hydrophobicity and sulfhydryl content of UCPPs increased significantly (P < 0.05) as compared to those of CPP. With the increasing time of ultrasound treatment, there were more and deeper holes on the protein surfaces. Furthermore, protein modification by ultrasound could improve the thermal properties of UCPPs. Additionally, UCPPs showed a significant increase in antioxidant properties over CPP, especially UCPP-20. These observations indicated that ultrasound treatment was necessary for modification of CPP to meet the requirements for food processing.

Abstract
The first application of a novel electro-Fenton (EF) for coking wastewater (CW) treatment at the original pH (6.80) by using tripolyphosphate (TPP) ligand was proposed. Total organic carbon (TOC) decay of CW followed a pseudo-first kinetic rate constant with an apparent rate constant (kapp) of 1.07 × 10-2 min-1 for the EF in the presence of TPP (EF/TPP), which was 2.10 times higher than that of conventional EF (kapp = 5.10 × 10-3 min-1) working at pH 3. The high efficiency of EF/TPP at neutral pH was mainly attributed to the newly formed Fe-O-P coordination in the iron-ligand compound (Fe2+-TPP) supported by UV-absorption spectra results, activating oxygen to produce •OH and hence enhancing the oxidation capacity. Key operating parameters of CW mineralization by EF/TPP including Fe2+ concentration and pH value were systematically investigated. Excitation-emission matrix (EEM) spectra technique was used to assess the variance of dissolved organic matters during the EF/TPP process. Results showed an 81% mineralization of CW after 3 h electrolysis coupled with a low energy consumption (0.129 kWh g-1 TOC) which were obtained by the EF/TPP process. Microtox toxicity demonstrated that TPP could reduce the toxicity of raw CW and importantly, it showed that EF/TPP was effective for detoxification. Mechanism study via simulated matrix with similar components as CW revealed that •OH produced both from Fenton and Fe2+-TPP activation together with the generated active chlorine was responsible for CW mineralization. In summary, the TPP-assisted EF process was presented as a promising technique for extending coking wastewater treatment at near-neutral pH with a high mineralization.
