Abstract
BACKGROUND Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is highly lethal upon onset of acute aortic diseases (AAD) or rupture. Dyslipidaemia and hyperuricaemia are important risk factors for the development of AAA and AAD as well as aortic disease-related death. The aim of this study was to explore whether uric acid (UA) to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) ratio (UHR) can be used as an independent predictor of the presence of AAA or AAD. METHODS Three hundred subjects, including 100 AAA patients (AAA group), 100 AAD patients (AAD group) and 100 controls (CON group), were recruited in this study. UHR and other serum samples were obtained upon the patients' admission before any medical treatment. The optimal cut-off points of UHR were determined using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. RESULTS The UHR in AAA group was significantly higher than that in CON group, but there was no significant difference between AAD group and CON group. The optimal cut-off point of UHR for AAA was 7.78 (sensitivity 84.7%, specificity 62.4%, and AUC 0.811; p < 0.001), and UHR (OR: 1.122, 95%CI: 1.064-1.184; p < 0.001) was found to be an independent factor for predicting AAA after adjusting for traditional AAA risk factor. CONCLUSION UHR can be widely used in clinical practice as an auxiliary tool for screening AAA. The optimal cut-off point for UHR to AAA was determined for the first time in Chinese subjects.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Establishing reference ranges for central airway parameters and exploring their influencing factors in Han Chinese non-smoking adults. METHODS This prospective cross-sectional study was conducted on Han Chinese non-smoking adults who underwent chest CT scans at the Tongzhou Campus of Dongzhimen Hospital Affiliated with the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine between September 2022 and November 2022. The SYNAPSE 3D image analysis software was utilized, enabling the extraction of critical parameters such as central airway length, airway wall thickness (AWT), airway lumen area (ALA), and subcarinal angle (SCA). Pearson's correlation coefficient analysis and multiple linear regression analysis methods were employed to evaluate the relationship between central airway parameters and age, sex, weight, and height. RESULTS The study encompassed 888 Han Chinese non-smoking adults, comprising 456 females and 432 males. Significant sex differences were noted in central airway length, AWT, and ALA, with measurements in males exceeding those in females (p < 0.01) with no significant difference in SCA. Correlation analyses unveiled relationships between central airway parameters and age, sex, weight, and height. During multiple linear regression analyses, no conclusive evidence emerged to demonstrate the independent or combined explanatory or predictive capacity of the aforementioned variables for central airway length and SCA. Although sex has a significant impact on AWT and ALA, its capability in explanation or prediction remains limited. The conclusions drawn from the primary analysis receive reinforcement from the outcomes of sensitivity analyses. CONCLUSION Establishing the distribution range of central airway parameters in non-smoking Han Chinese adults. It observed significant sex differences in these parameters, except for the SCA. However, the study found that the predictive or explanatory power of age, sex, weight, and height for central airway parameters was either limited or non-significant.

Abstract
In the field of metastatic skeletal oncology imaging, the role of artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming more prominent. Bone metastasis typically indicates the terminal stage of various malignant neoplasms. Once identified, it necessitates a comprehensive revision of the initial treatment regime, and palliative care is often the only resort. Given the gravity of the condition, the diagnosis of bone metastasis should be approached with utmost caution. AI techniques are being evaluated for their efficacy in a range of tasks within medical imaging, including object detection, disease classification, region segmentation, and prognosis prediction in medical imaging. These methods offer a standardized solution to the frequently subjective challenge of image interpretation.This subjectivity is most desirable in bone metastasis imaging. This review describes the basic imaging modalities of bone metastasis imaging, along with the recent developments and current applications of AI in the respective imaging studies. These concrete examples emphasize the importance of using computer-aided systems in the clinical setting. The review culminates with an examination of the current limitations and prospects of AI in the realm of bone metastasis imaging. To establish the credibility of AI in this domain, further research efforts are required to enhance the reproducibility and attain robust level of empirical support.

Abstract
Background and aims Partial splenic artery embolization (PSAE) is an alternative treatment modality for managing hypersplenism secondary to portal hypertension. We are presenting a case series of patients with portal hypertension who underwent PSAE for symptomatic hypersplenism. Methods We included patients with portal hypertension who underwent PSAE from January 2022 to December 2022. Patients' characteristics and procedure related complications were noted. Data were analyzed for improvement in the hematological parameters. Results A total of 11 (7 women, median age 34 [18-56] years) patients were included. Three patients were cirrhotic (hepatitis B-2, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease -1) and 8 were non-cirrhotic (extra-hepatic portal vein obstruction-5, Non cirrhotic portal fibrosis-3). Splenic artery aneurysm was concomitantly present in 5 cases. Technical success was achieved in all cases. Post embolization, hemoglobin, white blood cells and platelet counts improved at 4 weeks, 12 weeks and 24 weeks along with symptomatic improvement. All patients had post-embolization syndrome. One patient developed transient ascites and secondary bacterial peritonitis which was managed conservatively. One patient died due to splenic abscess and septicemia. Conclusion Although, hematological parameters and symptoms improve post procedure, PSAE is associated with major complications and should be performed judiciously in selected cases only. Abstract
Intervertebral Disc Degeneration is a pathophysiological condition that primarily affects the spinal discs, causing back pain and neurological deficits. It is caused by the contribution of several factors such as genetic predisposition, age-related degeneration, and lifestyle choices like obesity and physical activity. Even though there are medications to treat pain, there is a lack of medicines for a complete cure. The main difficulty lies in poor diagnosis of the morphological and functional changes in the disc. With the ever-increasing research on bioimaging techniques, new techniques are being developed and repurposed to evaluate disc shape and composition, and their defects like thinning or deformities on the disc, leading to the proper diagnostic intervention in intervertebral disc degeneration. In this review, we aim to present a comprehensive overview of the imaging techniques used in the pre-clinical and clinical stages for the diagnosis of intervertebral disc degeneration. First, we will discuss about patho-anatomy and the pathophysiology of degenerative disc disease with the significance and a brief description of various dyes and tracers utilized for bioimaging. Then we will shed light on the latest advancements in diagnostic modalities in intervertebral disc degeneration; concluded by an analysis of the repercussions of the methodologies and experimental systems employed in identifying mechanisms and developing therapeutic strategies in intervertebral disc degeneration.

Abstract
Gaucher disease is one of the most common lysosomal storage disorders. Osteonecrosis is a principal clinical manifestation of Gaucher disease and often leads to joint collapse and fractures. T1-weighted (T1w) modality in MRI is widely used to monitor bone involvement in Gaucher disease and to diagnose osteonecrosis. However, objective and quantitative methods for characterizing osteonecrosis are still limited. In this work, we present a deep learning-based quantification approach for the segmentation of osteonecrosis and the extraction of characteristic parameters. We first constructed two independent U-net models to segment the osteonecrosis and bone marrow unaffected by osteonecrosis (UBM) in spine and femur respectively, based on T1w images from patients in the UK national Gaucherite study database. We manually delineated parcellation maps including osteonecrosis and UBM from 364 T1w images (176 for spine, 188 for femur) as the training datasets, and the trained models were subsequently applied to all the 917 T1w images in the database. To quantify the segmentation, we calculated morphological parameters including the volume of osteonecrosis, the volume of UBM, and the fraction of total marrow occupied by osteonecrosis. Then, we examined the correlation between calculated features and the bone marrow burden score for marrow infiltration of the corresponding image, and no strong correlation was found. In addition, we analyzed the influence of splenectomy and the interval between the age at first symptom and the age of onset of treatment on the quantitative measurements of osteonecrosis. The results are consistent with previous studies, showing that prior splenectomy is closely associated with the fractional volume of osteonecrosis, and there is a positive relationship between the duration of untreated disease and the quantifications of osteonecrosis. We propose this technique as an efficient and reliable tool for assessing the extent of osteonecrosis in MR images of patients and improving prediction of clinically important adverse events.

Abstract
PURPOSE Demonstrate the potential of spatiotemporal encoding (SPEN) MRI to deliver largely undistorted 2D, 3D, and diffusion weighted images on a 110 mT portable system. METHODS SPEN's quadratic phase modulation was used to subsample the low-bandwidth dimension of echo planar acquisitions, delivering alias-free images with an enhanced immunity to image distortions in a laboratory-built, low-field, portable MRI system lacking multiple receivers. RESULTS Healthy brain images with different SPEN time-bandwidth products and subsampling factors were collected. These compared favorably to EPI acquisitions including topup corrections. Robust 3D and diffusion weighted SPEN images of diagnostic value were demonstrated, with 2.5 mm isotropic resolutions achieved in 3 min scans. This performance took advantage of the low specific absorption rate and relative long TEs associated with low-field MRI. CONCLUSION SPEN MRI provides a robust and advantageous fast acquisition approach to obtain faithful 3D images and DWI data in low-cost, portable, low-field systems without parallel acceleration.

Abstract
Objective This study aimed to investigate the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features and classification of echinococcosis of the spinal canal. Methods The clinical manifestations and MRI findings and classification of 19 patients diagnosed with intraspinal echinococcosis over 10 years (2011-2020) were retrospectively analyzed. Results The mean age of the nine males and 10 females was 39 years (range 28-65 years). Among these, the number of cases with thoracic, lumbar, sacral, thoracolumbar, and lumbosacral, cervical, and lumbar segments was nine (47 %), five (26 %), one (5 %), one (5 %), two (11 %), and one (5 %) cases, respectively. Furthermore, 13 cases (69 %) involved adjacent vertebral bodies, accessories, and surrounding soft tissues. The lesion was confined to the intramedullary, extramedullary subdural, extramedullary epidural, and multiple spaces in one (Type I) (5 %), four (Type II) (21 %), one (Type III) (5 %), and thirteen (69 %) cases, respectively. Moreover, nine cases (47 %) had a history of hydatid disease in the spine or other tissues. The clinical manifestations were chest and lumbosacral pain in 18 cases (95 %) and chest and lumbosacral pain accompanied by lower limb dysfunction in four cases (21 %). The MRI revealed different sizes of T1WI low-signal and T2WI high-signal vesicles with a "grape-like" appearance, with 16 cases (84 %) showing low signals on the edge of the cyst wall. Conclusion Intraspinal echinococcosis is rare, even in endemic areas. However, intraspinal echinococcosis should be considered when there is a history of echinococcosis in other sites or when there are clear MRI characteristics for the disease.

Abstract
This clinical report presents a unique and previously unreported case of anatomical variations in the mandible, specifically involving the main mental foramen (MF), the mandibular canal (MC), and genial tubercles (GTs). The case involves a 21-year-old male seeking dental implant rehabilitation. The patient exhibited an unusual lingual exit path of the main left MF through the lingual cortical bone, with the MC following an anterior lingual direction along a lingual groove before exiting through the labial cortical bone between the apexes of the left canine and first premolar. Additionally, the patient displayed excessive enlargement and rare shape of the GTs. These rare anatomical findings presented challenges in dental implant planning. This case report emphasizes the importance of advanced imaging techniques like cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in evaluating mandibular structures for precise treatment planning and highlights the significance of understanding anatomical variations to prevent complications in dental procedures.

Abstract
Obesity and hypothalamic inflammation are causally related. It is unclear whether this neuroinflammation precedes or results from obesity. Animal studies show that an increase in food intake can lead to hypothalamic inflammation, but hypothalamic inflammation can create a feedback loop that further increases food intake. Internal and external factors mediate patterns of food intake and how it can affect the hypothalamus. Measures of water diffusivity in magnetic resonance imaging of the brain such as fractional anisotropy (FA), mean diffusivity (MD), radial diffusivity (RD), axial diffusivity (AD) are associated with grey matter inflammation. Here, we investigated how those measures are associated with obesity-related variables in groups of young and older adults. We found relationships between decreased diffusivity and obesity markers in young adults. In older adults, obesity and comorbidities were also related to significant changes in diffusivity. Here, diffusivity was strongly associated with body mass index (BMI) and blood levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) in multiple subcortical regions, rather than only the hypothalamus. Our results suggest that diffusivity measures can be used to investigate obesity-associated changes in the brain that can potentially reflect neuroinflammation. The connection seen between subcortical inflammation and obesity opens the conversation on preventative interventions needed to reduce the effects of obesity at all stages in life.

Abstract
Despite significant improvements that have been made in terms of progression-free survival and overall survival rates brought about by targeted therapy in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the emergence of drug resistance remains a limiting factor. However, a previous study has shown promising results by combining local microwave ablation (MWA) with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy for patients with oligometastatic NSCLC. The current study presented the case of a Chinese female patient who was identified as having lung adenocarcinoma (LADC) with EGFR exon 19 deletions (Del) in January 2014, and who experienced multiple instances of oligoprogression but showed a positive response to a combination of chemotherapy, MWA and a TKI drug. First, the patient was treated with four cycles of chemotherapy (120 mg docetaxel on day 1 and 40 mg cisplatin on days 1, 2 and 3; every three weeks as one cycle) and gefitinib (Iressa; 250 mg/day), maintaining a partial response for 17 months. In August 2015, a new solitary lesion was identified in the right lung and erlotinib (Tarceva; 150 mg/day) was administered for 3 months thereafter. In response, the patient underwent ablation of both the new right lung lesion and the primary left lung lesion in January 2016. Subsequently, a treatment course consisting of six cycles of chemotherapy (0.8 g pemetrexed on day 1 and 70 mg nedaplatin on days 1 and 2; every three weeks as one cycle) resulted in stable disease. In May 2016, the patient began treatment with osimertinib (AZD9291; 80 mg/day), resulting in a rapid shrinkage of the mediastinal lymph node after one month, which has been providing a benefit for the patient for 82 months and counting. Of note, the patient also developed metachronous colon cancer in January 2020, followed by the identification of right posterior liver metastases in February 2020 and lung metastases in May 2021 and in February 2022. To address this, the patient underwent radical resection of colon cancer and liver metastasectomy and received a combination of chemotherapy with bevacizumab, along with MWA for lung metastases. Remarkably, the patient has achieved long-term survival of 110 months. In conclusion, this case highlights the promising potential of combining MWA with systemic therapy for a patient with advanced LADC harboring EGFR exon 19 Del and metachronous lung and liver-metastasized colon adenocarcinoma. MWA effectively controlled both in situ oligoprogression and new oligoprogression, thereby enhancing the efficacy of systematic chemotherapy/TKI therapy. Furthermore, this case report emphasizes the importance of repeated histologic biopsies and genetic testing as reliable indicators for adjusting treatment regimens. Physicians should also remain vigilant regarding the occurrence of secondary primary carcinomas, and timely and accurate adjustments to treatment plans will be of significant benefit to patients in terms of treatment efficacy and overall quality of life.

Abstract
Interventions for portal hypertension are continuously evolving and expanding beyond the realm of medical management. When complications such as varices and ascites persist despite conservative interventions, procedures including transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt creation, transvenous obliteration, portal vein recanalization, splenic artery embolization, surgical shunt creation, and devascularization are all potential interventions detailed in this article. Selection of the optimal procedure to address the underlying cause, treat symptoms, and, in some cases, bridge to liver transplantation depends on the specific etiology of portal hypertension and the patient's comorbidities.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Malnutrition is a common problem in developing countries, and the impact of severe malnutrition on optimal treatment outcomes of chemotherapy in pediatric cancer patients is well documented. However, despite being a more prevalent and distinct entity, moderate malnutrition is until now unexplored for its effects on treatment outcomes. AIMS In this study we aimed to investigate the molecular basis of altered pharmacokinetics and cardiotoxicity of doxorubicin observed in early-life chronic moderate protein deficiency malnutrition. MATERIALS AND METHODS We developed an animal model of early-life moderate protein-deficiency malnutrition and validated it using clinical samples. This model was used to study pharmacokinetic and toxicity changes and was further utilized to study the molecular changes in liver and heart to get mechanistic insights. KEY FINDINGS Here we show that moderate protein-deficiency malnutrition in weanling rats causes changes in drug disposition in the liver by modification of hepatic ABCC3 and MRP2 transporters through the TNFα signalling axis. Furthermore, malnourished rats in repeat-dose doxorubicin toxicity study showed higher toxicity and mortality. A higher accumulation of doxorubicin in the heart was observed which was associated with alterations in cardiac metabolic pathways and increased cardiotoxicity. SIGNIFICANCE Our findings indicate that moderate malnutrition causes increased susceptibility towards toxic side effects of chemotherapy. These results may necessitate further investigations and new guidelines on the dosing of chemotherapy in moderately malnourished pediatric cancer patients.

Abstract
PURPOSE The aim of this study was to generate deep learning-based regions of interest (ROIs) from equilibrium radionuclide angiography datasets for left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) measurement. PATIENTS AND METHODS Manually drawn ROIs (mROIs) on end-systolic and end-diastolic images were extracted from reports in a Picture Archiving and Communications System. To reduce observer variability, preprocessed ROIs (pROIs) were delineated using a 41% threshold of the maximal pixel counts of the extracted mROIs and were labeled as ground-truth. Background ROIs were automatically created using an algorithm to identify areas with minimum counts within specified probability areas around the end-systolic ROI. A 2-dimensional U-Net convolutional neural network architecture was trained to generate deep learning-based ROIs (dlROIs) from pROIs. The model's performance was evaluated using Lin's concordance correlation coefficient (CCC). Bland-Altman plots were used to assess bias and 95% limits of agreement. RESULTS A total of 41,462 scans (19,309 patients) were included. Strong concordance was found between LVEF measurements from dlROIs and pROIs (CCC = 85.6%; 95% confidence interval, 85.4%-85.9%), and between LVEF measurements from dlROIs and mROIs (CCC = 86.1%; 95% confidence interval, 85.8%-86.3%). In the Bland-Altman analysis, the mean differences and 95% limits of agreement of the LVEF measurements were -0.6% and -6.6% to 5.3%, respectively, for dlROIs and pROIs, and -0.4% and -6.3% to 5.4% for dlROIs and mROIs, respectively. In 37,537 scans (91%), the absolute LVEF difference between dlROIs and mROIs was <5%. CONCLUSIONS Our 2-dimensional U-Net convolutional neural network architecture showed excellent performance in generating LV ROIs from equilibrium radionuclide angiography scans. It may enhance the convenience and reproducibility of LVEF measurements.

Abstract
Portal vein thrombosis, a relatively frequent complication associated with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and liver cirrhosis, is recognized as a significant global health concern. This is mainly due to these conditions' high prevalence and potentially severe outcomes. The aim of our study was to conduct a comprehensive literature review to evaluate the efficacy, accuracy, and clinical implications of 18F-FDG PET-CT in diagnosing and managing portal vein tumor thrombosis (PVTT) in patients with HCC. HCC, which accounts for 80% of liver malignancies, ranks as the fourth most prevalent cancer globally and is a significant contributor to cancer-related mortality. The majority of HCC patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage, leading to a deterioration in patient outcomes. Involvement of the portal vein is also a significant negative factor. This review analyzes the application of 18F-FDG PET-CT in the detection and management of PVTT in patients with HCC, with an emphasis on the importance of the maximum standardized uptake value as an essential diagnostic and prognostic marker. 18F-FDG PET-CT is invaluable for detecting recurrence and guiding management strategies, particularly in patients with high-grade HCC, and plays a pivotal role in differentiating malignant portal vein thrombi from their benign counterparts.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW To highlight novel findings in the detection of monosodium urate deposits in vessels using dual energy computed tomography, and to discuss the potential clinical implications for gout and hyperuricemia patients. RECENT FINDINGS Gout is an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease. However, classical risk calculators do not take into account these hazards, and parameters to identify patients at risk are lacking. Monosodium urate measured by dual energy computed tomography is a well-established technology for the detection and quantification of monosodium urate deposits in peripheral joints and tendons. Recent findings also suggest its applicability to identify vascular urate deposits. Dual energy computed tomography is a promising tool for detection of cardiovascular monosodium urate deposits in gout patients, to better delineate individuals at increased risk for cardiovascular disease.

Abstract
Microwave ablation (MWA) is a potent cancer treatment tool, but its effectiveness can be hindered by the lack of visual feedback. This paper validates the feasibility of using microwave-induced thermoacoustic imaging (TAI) technique to monitor the MWA process. A feasibility analysis was conducted at the principle level and a high-performance real-time TAI system was introduced. To address the interference caused by MWA, a robust principal component analysis (RPCA)-based method for TAI was proposed. This method leverages the correlation between multiple signal frames to eliminate interference. RPCA's effectiveness in TAI was demonstrated through three sets of different experiments. Experiments demonstrated that TAI can effectively monitors the MWA process. This work represents the first application of RPCA-related matrix decomposition methods in TAI, paving the way for the application of TAI in more complex clinical scenarios. By providing rapid and accurate visual feedback, this research advances MWA technology.

Abstract
PURPOSE Laryngeal and Hypopharyngeal Carcinomas (LC/HPC) constitute about 24 % of head and neck cancers, causing more than 90,000 annual deaths worldwide. Diffusion-Weighted Imaging (DWI), is currently widely studied in oncologic imaging and can aid in distinguishing cellular tumors from other tissues. Our objective was to review the effectiveness of DWI in three areas: diagnosing, predicting prognosis, and predicting treatment response in patients with LC/HPC. METHODS A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase. A meta-analysis by calculating Standardized Mean Difference (SMD) and 95 % Confidence Interval (CI) was conducted on diagnostic studies. RESULTS A total of 16 studies were included. All diagnostic studies (n = 9) were able to differentiate between the LC/HPC and other benign laryngeal/hypopharyngeal lesions. These studies found that LC/HPC had lower Apparent Diffusion Coefficient (ADC) values than non-cancerous lesions. Our meta-analysis of 7 diagnostic studies, that provided ADC values of malignant and non-malignant tissues, demonstrated significantly lower ADC values in LC/HPC compared to non-malignant lesions (SMD = -1.71, 95 %CI: [-2.00, -1.42], ADC cut-off = 1.2 × 103 mm2/s). Furthermore, among the studies predicting prognosis, 67 % (4/6) accurately predicted outcomes based on pretreatment ADC values. Similarly, among studies predicting treatment response, 50 % (2/4) successfully predicted outcomes based on pretreatment ADC values. Overall, the studies that looked at prognosis or treatment response in LC/HPC found a positive correlation between pretreatment ADC values in larynx/hypopharynx and favorable outcomes. CONCLUSION DWI aids significantly in the LC/HPC diagnosis. However, further research is needed to establish DWI's reliability in predicting prognosis and treatment response in patients with LC/HPC.

Abstract
Wernicke encephalopathy (WE) is a rare but severe neurological syndrome characterized, in its classic form, by the acute onset of ocular disturbances, ataxia, and cognitive impairment. It is caused by a deficiency of thiamine (vitamin B1) and mainly affects chronic alcoholics, although it can also affect patients with pathologies that lead to malnutrition. We present a case of a 58-year-old woman, who presented with significant weight loss over the past 6 months and who came to the emergency department for episodes of repetitive vomiting and a sleepy state. The patient underwent blood chemistry tests and a brain CT scan, which revealed symmetrical and bilateral hypodensity of the medial portion of the thalamus, tectal plate, and periaqueductal gray matte, suggestive of WE. She was subsequently referred to the Department of Neurology and underwent a brain MRI, which confirmed the clinical suspicion. She also had an abdominal CT scan and ileo-colonoscopy and was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. Immediately after the clinical diagnosis of WE, a replacement therapy based on intravenous thiamine at high doses was promptly set up, and the patient improved from a clinical point of view. Wernicke encephalopathy can be difficult to diagnose when it occurs in non-alcoholic patients; WE associated with IBD is a rare condition, and it can present with atypical and more subtle symptoms. Radiologists and physicians must be aware of this condition and imaging findings for rapid diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract
Anomalous origin of the circumflex artery from the pulmonary artery (ACxAPA) is a rare but clinically significant condition in which the circumflex artery arises from either the main pulmonary artery or one of its main branches. Untreated patients with ACxAPA may develop severe heart failure or sudden cardiac death. Diagnosis is established with either catheter or CT angiography. We present a case of an adult male with no prior known cardiac history who was found to have ACxAPA after presenting to our institution in acute decompensated heart failure.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To analyze the characteristics of spinal metastasis in CT scans across diverse cancers for effective diagnosis and treatment, using MRI as the gold standard. METHODS A retrospective study of 309 patients from four centers, who underwent concurrent CT and spinal MRI, revealing spinal metastasis, was conducted. Data on metastasis including total number, volume, visibility on CT (visible, indeterminate, or invisible), and type of bone change were collected. Through chi-square and Mann-Whitney U tests, we characterized the metastasis across diverse cancers and investigated the variation in the intra-individual ratio representing the percentage of lesions within each category for each patient. RESULTS Out of 3333 spinal metastases from 309 patients, 55% were visible, 21% indeterminate, and 24% invisible. Sclerotic and lytic lesions made up 47% and 43% of the visible and indeterminate categories, respectively. Renal cell carcinoma (RCC), prostate cancer, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) had the highest visibility at 86%, 73%, and 67% (p < 0.0001, p < 0.0001, and p = 0.003), while pancreatic cancer was lowest at 29% (p < 0.0001). RCC and HCC had significantly high lytic metastasis ratios (interquartile range (IQR) 0.96-1.0 and 0.31-1.0, p < 0.001 and p = 0.005). Prostate cancer exhibited a high sclerotic lesion ratio (IQR 0.52-0.97, p < 0.001). About 39% of individuals had invisible or indeterminate lesions, even with a single visible lesion on CT. The intra-individual ratio for indeterminate and invisible metastases surpassed 18%, regardless of the maximal size of the visible metastasis. CONCLUSIONS This study highlights the variability in characteristics of spinal metastasis based on the primary cancer type through unique lesion-centric analysis.

Abstract
Ultrasound and magnetic resonance neurography are useful modalities to aid in the assessment of compressive neuropathies, although they are still limited in their resolution of nerve microstructure and their capacity to monitor postoperative nerve recovery. Optical coherence tomography, a preclinical imaging modality, is promising in its ability to better identify structural and potential physiologic changes to peripheral nerves, but requires additional testing and research prior to widespread clinical implementation. Further advances in nerve imaging may elucidate the ability to visualize the zone of nerve injury intraoperatively, monitor the progression of nerve regeneration, and localize problems during nerve recovery.

Abstract
The occurrence of triple kidneys, involving a normal kidney and a malrotation horseshoe kidney, is an extremely infrequent condition. This case report demonstrates a triple, mal-rotated horseshoe kidneys coexist with an upper junction stone, alongside a normal left kidney showing normal Doppler vascularity, as observed in an ultrasound examination for 18-year-old male complaints of diffuse periumbilical pain and burning micturition. Laboratory investigation revealed normal creatinine level, and presence of urinary tract infection. Management option for this case are antibiotic therapy and surgical intervention for horseshoe kidney stone. Regular monitoring of kidney function, other radiographic imaging studies, and follow-up to assess the efficacy of the treatment, and detect any further complications are essential.

Abstract
Imaging methods capable of detecting inflammation, such as MR imaging and ultrasound, are of paramount importance in rheumatic disease management, not only for diagnostic purposes but also for monitoring disease activity and treatment response. However, more advanced stages of arthritis, characterized by findings of cumulative structural damage, have traditionally been accomplished by radiographs and computed tomography. The purpose of this review is to provide an overview of imaging of some of the most prevalent inflammatory rheumatic diseases affecting the lower limb (osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and gout) and up-to-date recommendations regarding imaging diagnostic workup.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Pediatric digestive volvulus is a serious condition that carries with it a high rate of morbidity and mortality. OBJECTIVE This review highlights the pearls and pitfalls of pediatric digestive volvulus, including the presentation, diagnosis, and management in the emergency department (ED) based on current evidence. DISCUSSION Pediatric digestive volvulus is a deadly condition most commonly associated with malrotation. It occurs when the stomach or small intestine twists on itself, resulting in ischemia and potentially strangulation with necrosis and perforation. Presentation differs based on the gastrointestinal (GI) segment affected, degree of twisting, and acuity of the volvulus. Gastric volvulus most commonly presents with retching with or without nonbilious emesis and epigastric distension with pain, while midgut volvulus typically presents with bilious emesis in infants. Patients with GI necrosis and perforation may present with hemodynamic compromise and peritonitis. If suspected, emergent consultation with the pediatric surgery specialist is necessary, and if this is not available, transfer to a center with a pediatric surgeon is recommended. Imaging includes plain radiography, ultrasound, or upper GI series, while treatment includes resuscitation, administration of antibiotics, and emergent surgical decompression and detorsion of the involved segments. CONCLUSION An understanding of pediatric digestive volvulus and its many potential mimics can assist emergency clinicians in diagnosing and managing this deadly disease.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The evidence basis for therapy selection in women who have failed primary stress urinary incontinence (SUI) surgery is limited. The ICI-RS group discussed the available data at its meeting in June 2023, particularly the anatomical characteristics as assessed using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound (US) modalities, functional characteristics associated with storage and voiding urodynamic assessment, as well as the patient characteristics that might influence outcomes. This paper summarizes the evidence base that supported these discussions and offers the basis for research proposals for future groups. METHODS A literature search of MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials was performed, and the data is presented. Research questions are based on the knowledge gaps highlighted. RESULTS Possible MRI parameters that may influence outcomes were striated urethral sphincter volume, bladder and proximal urethral funneling, pubo-urethral ligament integrity, distance of the bladder neck below the pubococcygeal line, posterior urethra-vesical angle, and bladder neck to levator ani distance. US parameters included sling distance to the urethral lumen and pubis, sling position, bladder neck mobility, and lateral arm asymmetry, twisting, or curling. Urodynamic parameters included detrusor overactivity, Valsalva leak point pressure, maximum urethral closure pressure, and bladder outlet obstruction. Important patient parameters included body mass index, age, and previous interventions. CONCLUSIONS Identifying and quantifying causative factors in patients with recurrent SUI, that allow clinicians to modify subsequent treatment choices and techniques may help reduce treatment failure and complications. Formulating algorithms is the next step in optimizing patient counseling, surgical selection, and healthcare allocation.

Abstract
As a component of myeloablative conditioning before allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), Total Body Irradiation (TBI) is employed in radiotherapy centers all over the world. In recent and coming years, many centers are changing their technical setup from a conventional TBI technique to multi-isocenter conformal arc therapy techniques such as Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) or Helical Tomotherapy (HT). These techniques allow better homogeneity and control of the target prescription dose, and provide more freedom for individualized organ-at-risk sparing. The technical design of multi-isocenter/multi-plan conformal TBI is complex and should be developed carefully. A group of early adopters with conformal TBI experience using different treatment machines and treatment planning systems came together to develop technical recommendations and share experiences, in order to assist departments wishing to implement conformal TBI, and to provide ideas for standardization of practices.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The main aim of this study was to determine whether the use of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) could improve the categorization of suspicious breast lesions based on the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS), thereby reducing the number of benign breast lesions referred for biopsy. METHODS This prospective study, conducted between January 2017 and December 2018, enrolled consenting patients from eight teaching hospitals in China, who had been diagnosed with solid breast lesions classified as BI-RADS 4 using conventional ultrasound. CEUS was performed within 1 wk of diagnosis for reclassification of breast lesions. Histopathological results obtained from core needle biopsies or surgical excision samples served as the reference standard. The simulated biopsy rate and cancer-to-biopsy yield were used to compare the accuracy of CEUS and conventional ultrasound (US). RESULTS Among the 1490 lesions diagnosed as BI-RADS 4 with conventional ultrasound, 486 malignant and 1004 benign lesions were confirmed based on histology. Following CEUS, 2, 395, and 211 lesions were reclassified as CEUS-based BI-RADS 2, 3, and 5, respectively, while 882 (59%) remained as BI-RADS 4. The actual cancer-to-biopsy yield based on US was 32.6%, which increased to 43.4% when CEUS-based BI-RADS 4A was used as the cut-off point to recommend biopsy. The simulated biopsy rate decreased to 73.4%. Overall, in this preselected BI-RADS 4 population, only 2.5% (12/486) of malignant lesions would have been miscategorized as BI-RADS 3 using CEUS-based reclassification. The diagnostic accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of contrast-enhanced ultrasound reclassification were 57.65%, 97.53%, and 38.35%, respectively. CONCLUSION Our collective findings indicate that CEUS is a valuable tool in further triage of BI-RADS category 4 lesions and facilitates a reduction in the number of biopsies while increasing the cancer-to-biopsy yield.

Abstract
PURPOSE Diffusion-weighted (DW) imaging provides a useful clinical contrast, but is susceptible to motion-induced dephasing caused by the application of strong diffusion gradients. Phase navigators are commonly used to resolve shot-to-shot motion-induced phase in multishot reconstructions, but poor phase estimates result in signal dropout and Apparent Diffusion Coefficient (ADC) overestimation. These artifacts are prominent in the abdomen, a region prone to involuntary cardiac and respiratory motion. To improve the robustness of DW imaging in the abdomen, region-based shot rejection schemes that selectively weight regions where the shot-to-shot phase is poorly estimated were evaluated. METHODS Spatially varying weights for each shot, reflecting both the accuracy of the estimated phase and the degree of subvoxel dephasing, were estimated from the phase navigator magnitude images. The weighting was integrated into a multishot reconstruction using different formulations and phase navigator resolutions and tested with different phase navigator resolutions in multishot DW-echo Planar Imaging acquisitions of the liver and pancreas, using conventional monopolar and velocity-compensated diffusion encoding. Reconstructed images and ADC estimates were compared qualitatively. RESULTS The proposed region-based shot rejection reduces banding and signal dropout artifacts caused by physiological motion in the liver and pancreas. Shot rejection allows conventional monopolar diffusion encoding to achieve median ADCs in the pancreas comparable to motion-compensated diffusion encoding, albeit with a greater spread of ADCs. CONCLUSION Region-based shot rejection is a linear reconstruction that improves the motion robustness of multi-shot DWI and requires no sequence modifications.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Primary hepatic lymphoma (PHL) is a lymphoproliferative disorder confined to the liver without peripheral lymph node involvement and bone marrow invasion. PHL is extremely rare in clinical practice. The etiology and pathogenesis of PHL are largely unknown. There are no common standard protocols or guidelines for the treatment of PHL.
CASE SUMMARY We report the case of a 66-year-old man who presented with fever and abdominal pain for three weeks. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging scans showed a pyogenic liver abscess. The patient underwent a right posterior hepatectomy. The surgical pathology revealed aggressive B-cell lymphoma, with a primary consideration of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma of non-germinal center origin.
CONCLUSION This article reviews the characteristics, mechanism and treatment of PHL and provides insight into the diagnosis of PHL.

Abstract
PURPOSE Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) suffers from geometric distortion and chemical shift artifacts due to the commonly used Echo Planar Imaging (EPI) trajectory. Even with fat suppression in DWI, severe B0 and B1 variations can result in residual fat, which becomes both a source of image artifacts and a confounding factor in diffusion-weighted contrast in distinguishing benign and malignant tissues. This work presents a method for acquiring distortion-free diffusion-weighted images using spatiotemporal acquisition and joint reconstruction. Water-fat separation is performed by chemical-shift encoding. METHODS Spatiotemporal acquisition is employed to obtain distortion-free images at a series of echo times. Chemical-shift encoding is used for water-fat separation. Reconstruction and separation are performed jointly in the spat-spectral domain. To address the shot-to-shot motion-induced phase in DWI, an Fast Spin Echo (FSE)-based phase navigator is incorporated into the sequence to obtain distortion-free phase information. The proposed method was validated in phantoms and in vivo for the brain, head and neck, and breast. RESULTS The proposed method enables the acquisition of distortion-free diffusion-weighted images in the presence of B0 field inhomogenieties commonly observed in the body. Water and fat components are separated with no obvious spectral leakage artifacts. The estimated Apparent Diffusion Coefficient (ADC) is comparable to that of multishot DW-EPI. CONCLUSION Distortion-free, water-fat separated diffusion-weighted images in body can be obtained through the utilization of spatiotemporal acquisition and joint reconstruction methods.

Abstract
Accurate assessment of future liver remnant growth after partial hepatectomy (PH) in patients with different liver backgrounds is a pressing clinical issue. Amino acid (AA) metabolism plays a crucial role in liver regeneration. In this study, we combined metabolomics and machine learning (ML) to develop a generalized future liver remnant assessment model for multiple liver backgrounds. The liver index was calculated at 0, 6, 24, 48, 72 and 168 h after 70 % PH in healthy mice and mice with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis or liver fibrosis. The serum levels of 39 amino acids (AAs) were measured using UPLC-MS/MS. The dataset was randomly divided into training and testing sets at a 2:1 ratio, and orthogonal partial least squares regression (OPLS) and minimally biased variable selection in R (MUVR) were used to select a metabolite signature of AAs. To assess liver remnant growth, nine ML models were built, and evaluated using the coefficient of determination (R2), mean absolute error (MAE), and root mean square error (RMSE). The post-Pareto technique for order preference by similarity to the ideal solution (TOPSIS) was employed for ranking the ML algorithms, and a stacking technique was utilized to establish consensus among the superior algorithms. Compared with those of OPLS, the signature AAs set identified by MUVR (Thr, Arg, EtN, Phe, Asa, 3MHis, Abu, Asp, Tyr, Leu, Ser, and bAib) are more concise. Post-Pareto TOPSIS ranking demonstrated that the majority of ML algorithm in combinations with MUVR outperformed those with OPLS. The established SVM-KNN consensus model performed best, with an R2 of 0.79, an MAE of 0.0029, and an RMSE of 0.0035 for the testing set. This study identified a metabolite signature of 12 AAs and constructed an SVM-KNN consensus model to assess future liver remnant growth after PH in mice with different liver backgrounds. Our preclinical study is anticipated to establish an alternative and generalized assessment method for liver regeneration.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The goal of the work described here was to investigate the role of multimodal contrast-enhanced ultrasound in the differential diagnosis of peripheral lung cancer. METHODS From April 2017 to July 2021, 109 patients with confirmed pulmonary malignant lesions who underwent CEUS examination were involved in our study. Seven patients were excluded because of the short duration of CEUS video or unsatisfactory imaging. Finally,102 patients with peripheral lung cancer were enrolled in this study. The maximum diameter of the lesions ranged from 1.6 to 13.0 cm (mean 6.2 ± 2.3 cm). On the basis of the pathological results, the patients were divided into the small cell lung cancer (SCLC) group and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) group (including adenocarcinoma, lung squamous cell carcinoma and large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma). A Logiq E9 ultrasonic machine equipped with a 3.5 to 5.0 MHz C5-1 probe was used. Patient clinical information, CEUS features, CPI patterns and TIC parameters were analyzed and compared between different groups. Statistical analyses were performed with SPSS software and MedCalc software. The receiver operating characteristic curve was plotted. RESULTS In the differential diagnosis of SCLC and NSCLC, color parametric imaging indicated great performance. NSCLC exhibited a centripetal enhancement pattern more frequently (72.7%), while SCLC exhibited an eccentric enhancement pattern more frequently (92.9%) (p < 0.001). In the differential diagnosis of adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, logistic regression analysis revealed that patient age of onset ≤60 y, difference in arrival time between lung and tumor ≤3.8 s, drop time of the time-intensity curve >23.2 s and absence of internal necrosis on CEUS were independent predictors for adenocarcinoma (area under the curve = 0.861). CONCLUSION In our study, multimodal contrast-enhanced ultrasound provided useful information in the differential diagnosis between small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer, especially between adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.

Abstract
PURPOSE The current systematic review with meta-analysis aimed to investigate the pooled prevalence of the superior thyroid artery (STA) pattern of origin (distinct or fused-common origin with adjacent arteries in the form of a common trunk). The standard and uncommon variants were also studied, considering the STA's exact surface of origin and the relationship with the upper border of the thyroid cartilage (TC, reference point), considering the laterality effect. Thus, the STA topographical anatomy was considered. METHODS An evidence-based systematic review with meta-analysis was performed according to the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. A literature search was conducted in four online databases using specific keywords, the pooled prevalence was calculated using statistical analysis in the R programming language, and multiple subgroup analyses were performed. RESULTS The most common distinct origin of the STA was from the external carotid artery (ECA) (56.94% pooled prevalence, 95%CI: 50.89-62.89), and the rarest one was from the internal carotid artery (ICA) (< 0.01%, 95%CI: 0.00-0.00). Common trunks were also investigated, with the thyrolingual trunk emanating from the ECA estimated at 0.61% (95%CI: 0.21-1.14), representing the most common. Subgroup analysis based on the nationality, type of study, and sample size, as well as a comparison between left and right sides and males and females, were investigated. CONCLUSIONS The most common STA origin was estimated as the ECA, the medial surface of origin, and above the TC upper border. Adequate knowledge of STA origin is paramount for surgeons, especially during thyroidectomy, not to cause iatrogenic injury to the external branch of the superior laryngeal nerve.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Using pediatric anthropomorphic phantoms (APs), we aimed to determine the scanning tube voltage/current combinations that could achieve optimal image quality and avoid excessive radiation exposure in pediatric patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS A 64-slice scanner was used to scan a standard test phantom to determine the volume CT dose indices (CTDIvol), and three pediatric anthropomorphic phantoms (APs) with highly accurate anatomy and tissue-equivalent materials were studied. These specialized APs represented the average 1-year-old, 5-year-old, and 10-year-old children, respectively. The physical phantoms were constructed with brain tissue-equivalent materials having a density of ρ = 1.07 g/cm3, comprising 22 numbered 2.54-cm-thick sections for the 1-year-old, 26 sections for the 5-year-old, and 32 sections for the 10-year-old. They were scanned to acquire brain CT images and determine the standard deviations (SDs), effective doses (EDs), and contrast-to noise ratios (CNRs). The APs were scanned by 21 combinations of tube voltages/currents (80, 100, or 120 kVp/10, 40, 80, 120, 150, 200, or 250 mA) and rotation time/pitch settings of 1 s/0.984:1. RESULTS The optimal tube voltage/current combinations yielding optimal image quality were 80 kVp/80 mA for the 1-year-old AP; 80 kVp/120 mA for the 5-year-old AP; and 80 kVp/150 mA for the 10-year-old AP. Because these scanning tube voltages/currents yielded SDs, respectively, of 12.81, 13.09, and 12.26 HU, along with small EDs of 0.31, 0.34, and 0.31 mSv, these parameters and the induced values were expediently defined as optimal. CONCLUSIONS The optimal tube voltages/currents that yielded optimal brain image quality, SDs, CNRs, and EDs herein are novel and essentially important. Clinical translation of these optimal values may allow CT diagnosis with low radiation doses to children's heads.

Abstract
Division of the anterior descending branch into many small arteries is a rare coronary anomaly. We report the case of a 64-year-old female with severe stenosis (>75%) in the proximal region of the anterior descending branch as indicated by coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA). In addition, coronary angiography showed that the anterior descending branch of the coronary artery split into numerous small arteries, an anomaly that can confound clinical examination.

Abstract
AIM Chest computed tomography (CT) scan is useful to evaluate the type and extent of lung lesions in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia. This study explored the association between radiological parameters and various circulating serum-derived markers, including microRNAs, in older patients with COVID-19 pneumonia. METHODS A retrospective analysis was designed to study geriatric patients (≥75 years) with COVID-19 pneumonia, who underwent chest CT scan on admission, and for whom clinical data and serum samples were obtained. To quantify the extent of lung involvement, CT-score, the percentage of healthy lung (HL%), the percentage of ground glass opacity (GGO%), and the percentage of lung consolidation were assessed using computer-aided tools. The association of these parameters with two circulating microRNAs, miR-483-5p and miR-320b, previously identified as biomarkers of mortality risk in COVID-19 geriatric patients, was tested. RESULTS A total of 73 patients with COVID-19 pneumonia were evaluable (median age 85 years; interquartile range 82-90 years). Among chest CT-derived parameters, the percentage of lung consolidation (HR 1.08, 95% CI 1.02-1.14), CT-score (HR 1.14, 95% CI 1.03-1.25), and HL% (HR 0.97, 95% CI 0.95-0.99) emerged as significant predictors of mortality, whereas non-significant trends toward increased mortality were observed in patients with higher GGO%. We also found a significant positive association between serum miR-483-5p and GGO% (correlation coefficient 0.28; P = 0.018) and a negative association with HL% (correlation coefficient -0.27; P = 0.023). CONCLUSIONS Overall, the extent of lung consolidation can be confirmed as a prognostic parameter of COVID-19 pneumonia in older patients. Among various serum-derived markers, miR-483-5p can help in exploring the degree of lung involvement, due to its association with higher GGO% and lower HL%. Geriatr Gerontol Int 2024; ••: ••-••.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The revised European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR) consensus guidelines on soft tissue tumor imaging represent an update of 2015 after technical advancements, further insights into specific entities, and revised World Health Organization (2020) and AJCC (2017) classifications. This second of three papers covers algorithms once histology is confirmed: (1) standardized whole-body staging, (2) special algorithms for non-malignant entities, and (3) multiplicity, genetic tumor syndromes, and pitfalls. MATERIALS AND METHODS A validated Delphi method based on peer-reviewed literature was used to derive consensus among a panel of 46 specialized musculoskeletal radiologists from 12 European countries. Statements that had undergone interdisciplinary revision were scored online by the level of agreement (0 to 10) during two iterative rounds, that could result in 'group consensus', 'group agreement', or 'lack of agreement'. RESULTS The three sections contain 24 statements with comments. Group consensus was reached in 95.8% and group agreement in 4.2%. For whole-body staging, pulmonary MDCT should be performed in all high-grade sarcomas. Whole-body MRI is preferred for staging bone metastasis, with [18F]FDG-PET/CT as an alternative modality in PET-avid tumors. Patients with alveolar soft part sarcoma, clear cell sarcoma, and angiosarcoma should be screened for brain metastases. Special algorithms are recommended for entities such as rhabdomyosarcoma, extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma, myxoid liposarcoma, and neurofibromatosis type 1 associated malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors. Satisfaction of search should be avoided in potential multiplicity. CONCLUSION Standardized whole-body staging includes pulmonary MDCT in all high-grade sarcomas; entity-dependent modifications and specific algorithms are recommended for sarcomas and non-malignant soft tissue tumors. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT These updated ESSR soft tissue tumor imaging guidelines aim to provide support in decision-making, helping to avoid common pitfalls, by providing general and entity-specific algorithms, techniques, and reporting recommendations for whole-body staging in sarcoma and non-malignant soft tissue tumors. KEY POINTS An early, accurate, diagnosis is crucial for the prognosis of patients with soft tissue tumors. These updated guidelines provide best practice expert consensus for standardized imaging algorithms, techniques, and reporting. Standardization can improve the comparability examinations and provide databases for large data analysis.

Abstract
Clinical orthopedics continuously aims to improve methods for bone formation. Clinical applications where bone formation is necessary include critical long bone defects in orthopedic trauma or tumor patients. Though some biomaterials combined with autologous stem cells significantly improve bone repair, critical-size damages are still challenged with the suitable implantation of biomaterials and donor cell survival. Extracellular matrix (ECM) is the fundamental structure in tissues that can nest and nourish resident cells as well as support specific functions of the tissue type. ECM also plays a role in cell signaling to promote bone growth, healing and turnover. In the last decade, the use of bone-derived ECMs or ECM-similar biomaterials have been widely investigated, including decellularized and demineralized bone ECM. In this article, we reviewed the current productions and applications of decellularized and demineralized bone matrices. We also introduce the current study of whole limb decellularization and recellularization.

Abstract
BACKGROUND 7 T cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies may enable higher precision in clinical metrics like cardiac function, ventricular mass, and more. Higher precision may allow early detection of functional impairment and early evaluation of treatment responses in clinical practice and pre-clinical studies. METHODS Seven female German Landrace pigs were scanned prior to and at three time points (3-4 days, 7-10 days, and ~60 days) post myocardial infarction using a whole body 7 T system and three radiofrequency (RF) coils developed and built in-house to accompany animal growth. RESULTS The combination of dedicated RF hardware and 7 T MRI enables a longitudinal study in a pig model of acute and chronic infarction, providing consistent blood tissue contrast and high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in measurements of cardiac function, as well as low coefficients of variation (CoV) for ejection fraction (CoVintra-observer: 2%, CoVinter-observer: 3.8%) and infarct size (CoVintra-observer: 8.4%, CoVinter-observer: 3.8%), despite drastic animal growth. CONCLUSIONS Best results are achieved via manual segmentation. We define state-of-the-art procedures for large animal studies at 7 T.

Abstract
BACKGROUND It is extremely essential to accurately differentiate pheochromocytoma from Adrenal incidentalomas (AIs) before operation, especially biochemical tests were inconclusive. We aimed to evaluate the value of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features to differentiate pheochromocytomas among adrenal tumors, among which the consequences of biochemical screening tests of catecholamines and/or catecholamine metabolites are positive. METHODS With institutional review board approval, this study retrospectively compared 35 pheochromocytoma (PHEO) patients with 27 non-pheochromocytoma(non-PHEO) patients between January 2022 to September 2023, among which the consequences of biochemical screening tests of catecholamines and/or catecholamine metabolites are positive. T test was used for the independent continuous data and the chi-square test was used for categorical variables. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression were applied to find the independent variate of the features to differentiate PHEO from non-PHEO and ROC analysis was applied to evaluate the diagnostic value of the independent variate. RESULTS We found that the T2-weighted (T2W) signal intensity in patients with pheochromocytoma was higher than other adrenal tumors, with greatly significant (p < 0.001). T2W signal intensity ratio (T2W nodule-to-muscle SI ratio) was an independent risk factor for the differential diagnosis of adrenal PHEOs from non-PHEOs. This feature alone had 91.4% sensitivity and 81.5% specificity to rule out pheochromocytoma based on optimal threshold, with an area under the receiver operating characteristics curve (AUC‑ROC) of 0.910(95% C I: 0.833-0.987). CONCLUSION Our study confirms that T2W signal intensity ratio can differentiate PHEO from non-PHEO, among which the consequences of biochemical screening tests of catecholamines and/or catecholamine metabolites are positive.

Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly reshaped postgraduate medical education, driving immediate and significant adaptations in teaching methodologies and educational frameworks. This review examines the multifaceted transformations within medical education environments, particularly in response to the pandemic. Through a structured narrative review of recent literature, we identify key lessons learned and the subsequent shifts in educational practices. Our analysis underscores the critical importance of flexibility in educational delivery, the integration of technology, and the emphasis on mental health and resilience among medical trainees. We also explore the challenges and successes associated with maintaining equality and diversity in a rapidly evolving educational landscape. The findings highlight the necessity for continuous professional development and robust support systems to navigate future challenges effectively. Recommendations are provided for educational institutions to enhance adaptability, foster inclusive learning environments, and prepare for unforeseen global health emergencies. This study aims to contribute to the ongoing discourse on optimizing postgraduate medical education to better prepare health professionals for a dynamic and uncertain future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Recent studies have suggested that serum autotaxin (ATX) may be a promising diagnostic biomarker in differentiating between Graves' disease (GD) and thyroiditis, as well as serving as a monitoring biomarker for GD. This study will evaluate the use of serum ATX as a diagnostic biomarker in these conditions. METHODS In this prospective interventional study, blood samples were collected from the patients who met both inclusion and exclusion criteria, and serum ATX levels were measured by using the MyBioSource human Autotaxin ELISA kit. RESULTS A total of 32 patients were enrolled, of which 18.8% were newly diagnosed with GD, 21.9% were thyroiditis, and 59.3% were on treatment for GD. Serum autotaxin antigen was significantly higher in GD patients than in thyroiditis (603.3217 ± 444.24 v/s 214.74 ± 55.91, P = <.005). Serum ATX measurement successfully discriminated GD patients from thyroiditis (AUC = 0.952, 95%CI: 0.00-1.00) with an optimal cutoff value of ≥257.20 ng/L (sensitivity = 100 and specificity = 81.71). Monitoring the efficacy of serum ATX was analyzed and showed a significant difference. CONCLUSION The serum ATX was higher in subjects with GD as compared to thyroiditis, and ATX levels were found to be decreased during the treatment period. In conclusion, serum ATX can be used as a diagnostic and monitoring biomarker in GD.

Abstract
Approaching discussions and introducing the idea of dysmorphology to parents and families can be perceived as difficult and even daunting by health professionals resulting in uneasiness in how best to initiate important dialogues sensitively and accessibly.Here, we offer a structured approach to the assessment of, and subsequent initial discussion around, dysmorphism and potential syndromic features in babies and children.

Abstract
We review the etiologies of bowel obstruction in infants and children that can be identified on ultrasound (US) including perforated appendicitis, intussusception, foreign body ingestion, colonic volvulus, intra-abdominal mass lesions, internal hernia, and stricturing inflammatory bowel disease. US can potentially identify the cause of bowel obstruction in these age groups, without the need for additional cross-sectional imaging, and can aid in patient management including interventional and surgical planning. Hence, it is important to be familiar with the sonographic imaging findings of bowel obstruction in infants and children.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The use of iliac branch device (IBD) is increasing due to the less invasive character and accumulated experience of physicians in this endovascular technique. Clinical data regarding the E-liac stent graft from Artivion®, however, are scarce. This study shows the mid-term outcomes of the E-liac stent graft from a large single centre. METHODS Patients treated with IBD for (aorto-)iliac aneurysms between September 2015 and December 2022 with follow-up in our centre were included. (Post)operative (technical success, reintervention, 30-day mortality) and mid-term outcomes (endoleak, reintervention, hypogastric patency, mortality) were analysed. RESULTS Sixty-three patients (60 male, median age 70 years (IQR 66-;76)) were treated with 82 E-liac stent grafts for aorto-iliac aneurysms with a median follow-up of 38 months (IQR 22-51). The technical success rate was 95%. 97.6% of the interal iliac arteries remained patent during follow-up. No 30-day mortality was encountered. During follow-up one patient had an endoleak type 1b of both hypogastric arteries, however the patient refused additional interventions. One other patient had a type 2 endoleak with contained rupture. Paliative treatment was chosen because of the patient's severe comorbidities. One (1.6%) IBD-related reintervention was performed with relining of the stent graft. Secondary patency of the interal iliac artery was 95.1% and the mortality was 25.4% during follow-up. CONCLUSIONS This study shows high technical success rates for the E-liac stent graft, with corresponding good mid-term outcomes. The E-liac stent graft is a feasible, safe and effective stent graft in the treatment of aorto-iliac aneurysms.

Abstract
Hyperpolarised magnetic resonance imaging (HP-13C-MRI) has shown promise as a clinical tool for detecting and characterising prostate cancer. Here we use a range of spatially resolved histological techniques to identify the biological mechanisms underpinning differential [1-13C]lactate labelling between benign and malignant prostate, as well as in tumours containing cribriform and non-cribriform Gleason pattern 4 disease. Here we show that elevated hyperpolarised [1-13C]lactate signal in prostate cancer compared to the benign prostate is primarily driven by increased tumour epithelial cell density and vascularity, rather than differences in epithelial lactate concentration between tumour and normal. We also demonstrate that some tumours of the cribriform subtype may lack [1-13C]lactate labelling, which is explained by lower epithelial lactate dehydrogenase expression, higher mitochondrial pyruvate carrier density, and increased lipid abundance compared to lactate-rich non-cribriform lesions. These findings highlight the potential of combining spatial metabolic imaging tools across scales to identify clinically significant metabolic phenotypes in prostate cancer.

Abstract
Understanding the prevalence of abnormal lung function and its associated factors among patients recovering from COVID-19 is crucial for enhancing post-COVID care strategies. This study primarily aimed to determine the prevalence and types of spirometry abnormalities among post-COVID-19 patients in Malaysia, with a secondary objective of identifying its associated factors. Conducted at the COVID-19 Research Clinic, Faculty of Medicine, University Technology MARA, from March 2021 to December 2022, this study included patients at least three months post-discharge from hospitals following moderate-to-critical COVID-19. Of 408 patients studied, abnormal spirometry was found in 46.8%, with 28.4% exhibiting a restrictive pattern, 17.4% showing preserved ratio impaired spirometry (PRISm), and 1.0% displaying an obstructive pattern. Factors independently associated with abnormal spirometry included consolidation on chest X-ray (OR 8.1, 95% CI 1.75-37.42, p = 0.008), underlying cardiovascular disease (OR 3.5, 95% CI 1.19-10.47, p = 0.023), ground-glass opacity on chest X-ray (OR 2.6, 95% CI 1.52-4.30, p < 0.001), and oxygen desaturation during the 6-min walk test (OR 1.9, 95% CI 1.20-3.06, p = 0.007). This study highlights that patients recovering from moderate-to-critical COVID-19 often exhibit abnormal spirometry, notably a restrictive pattern and PRISm. Routine spirometry screening for high-risk patients is recommended.
