Abstract
Background Air pollution and poor ambient air quality are significantly related to multiple health risks. One associated disease is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a preventable disease with several contributing factors and one of the leading causes of morbidity/mortality locally and globally. A potentially high-risk population are traffic enforcers who are constantly exposed to air pollution. In the Philippines, the MMDA has the widest coverage in traffic management. The study determined the risk of COPD among Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic enforcers in relation to ambient air quality level, as well as identified other factors that increase the risk of developing COPD. Methods Fifty-two MMDA traffic enforcers deployed in PM2.5 air quality sensor areas in Metro Manila from 2016 to 2018 were recruited through stratified sampling. The International Primary Airways Guidelines (IPAG) questionnaire was utilized to measure risk of COPD. Respiratory health and working history were obtained through questionnaires. Department of environment and natural resources provided PM2.5 ambient air quality data which aided in the construction of the Exposure-Month Index. Ordinal logistic regression was used to examine the association of PM2.5 together with the relevant factors and the risk of COPD. Results We found statistically significant associations between PM2.5 and COPD among high risk category [odds risk (OR): 1.24, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.07-1.44]. Age (Moderate, OR: 1.16, 95% CI: 0.98-1.38 and High, OR: 10.06, 95% CI: 4.02-25.17) and chest pain (Moderate, OR: 68.65, 95% CI: 1.71-2.75 × 103) were potential risk factors, whereas body mass index (BMI) (OR: 0.05, 95% CI: 0.01-0.53) exhibited protective effect. Conclusions Exposure to PM2.5 was associated with an increased risk of COPD among high-risk category MMDA traffic enforcers. Age and chest pain were potential risk factors to risk of COPD, whereas BMI exhibited a potential protective effect. Results of this study can be used for clinical management of high-risk populations, such that of MMDA traffic enforcers.

Abstract
The association between body mass index (BMI) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) remains controversial. Therefore, a meta-analysis was conducted to further evaluate the relationship. A comprehensive literature search was performed in PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and Wanfang databases to identify eligible articles until July 15, 2020. Random effect model (REM) was used to compute the pooled results with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). We conducted meta-regression and subgroup analysis to explore potential sources of heterogeneity. Publication bias was evaluated by funnel plots and Egger's test. Thirty articles with 1,578,449 participants were included in the meta-analysis. The pooled OR of COPD was 1.96 (95% CI: 1.78-2.17) for the underweight group, 0.80 (95% CI: 0.73-0.87) for overweight group, and 0.86 (95% CI: 0.73-1.02) for obesity group. After further excluding 5 studies of high between-study heterogeneity in sensitivity analysis, the pooled OR of COPD was 0.77 (95% CI: 0.68-0.86) for the obesity group. This meta-analysis indicated that BMI was associated with COPD. Specifically, underweight might increase the risk of COPD; overweight and obesity might reduce the risk of COPD.

Abstract
Limited data were on the acute respiratory responses in the elderly in response to personal exposure of particulate matter (PM). In order to evaluate the changes of airway inflammation and pulmonary functions in the elderly in response to individual exposure of particles (PM1.0, PM2.5 and PM10), we analyzed 43 elderly subjects with either asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or Asthma COPD Overlap (ACO) and 40 age-matched subjects without asthma nor COPD in an urban community in Shanghai, China. Data were collected at the baseline and in 6 follow-ups from August 2016 to December 2018, once every 3 months except for the last twice with a 6-month interval. In each follow-up, pulmonary functions, fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO), 7-day continuous personal exposure to airborne particles were measured. Multivariate linear mixed effect regression models were applied to investigate the quantitative changes of pulmonary functions and FeNO in two respective groups. The results showed that on average 4.7 follow-up visits were completed in each participant. In subjects with CRDs, an inter-quartile range (IQR) increase of personal exposure to PM1.0, PM2.5 and PM10 was significantly associated with an average increase of FeNO(Lag1) of 6.7 ppb (95%CI 1.2, 9.9 ppb), 6.2 ppb (95%CI 1.5, 12.0 ppb) and 5.6 ppb (95%CI 1.5, 11.0 ppb), respectively, and an average decrease of FEV1(Lag2) of -3.6 L (95%CI -6.0, -1.1 L), -3.6 L (95%CI -6.4, -0.8 L) and -3.2 L (95%CI -5.8, -0.6 L), respectively, in the single-pollutant model. These associations remained consistent in the two-pollutant models adjusting for gaseous air pollutants. Stratified analysis showed that subjects with lower BMI, females and non-allergies were more sensitive to particle exposure. No robust significant effects were observed in the subjects without CRDs. Our study provided data on the susceptibility of the elderly with CRDs to particle exposure of PM1.0 and PM2.5, and the modification effects by BMI, gender and history of allergies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Diet is a modifier of metabolic syndrome which in turn is associated with World Trade Center obstructive airways disease (WTC-OAD). We have designed this study to (1) assess the dietary phenotype (food types, physical activity, and dietary habits) of the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) WTC-Health Program (WTC-HP) cohort and (2) quantify the association of dietary quality and its advanced glycation end product (AGE) content with the development of WTC-OAD. METHODS WTC-OAD, defined as developing WTC-Lung Injury (WTC-LI; FEV1 < LLN) and/or airway hyperreactivity (AHR; positive methacholine and/or positive bronchodilator response). Rapid Eating and Activity Assessment for Participants-Short Version (REAP-S) deployed on 3/1/2018 in the WTC-HP annual monitoring assessment. Clinical and REAP-S data of consented subjects was extracted (7/17/2019). Diet quality [low-(15-19), moderate-(20-29), and high-(30-39)] and AGE content per REAP-S questionnaire were assessed for association with WTC-OAD. Regression models adjusted for smoking, hyperglycemia, hypertension, age on 9/11, WTC-exposure, BMI, and job description. RESULTS N = 9508 completed the annual questionnaire, while N = 4015 completed REAP-S and had spirometry. WTC-OAD developed in N = 921, while N = 3094 never developed WTC-OAD. Low- and moderate-dietary quality, eating more (processed meats, fried foods, sugary drinks), fewer (vegetables, whole-grains),and having a diet abundant in AGEs were significantly associated with WTC-OAD. Smoking was not a significant risk factor of WTC-OAD. CONCLUSIONS REAP-S was successfully implemented in the FDNY WTC-HP monitoring questionnaire and produced valuable dietary phenotyping. Our observational study has identified low dietary quality and AGE abundant dietary habits as risk factors for pulmonary disease in the context of WTC-exposure. Dietary phenotyping, not only focuses our metabolomic/biomarker profiling but also further informs future dietary interventions that may positively impact particulate matter associated lung disease.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Pulmonary hypertension (PHT) is one of the essential predictors of mortality in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It is thought that PHT is due to vasoconstriction secondary to hypoxia caused by airway obstruction in COPD patients; however, loss of capillary bed with emphysema, inflammation, and endothelial dysfunction may also play a role in the development of PHT. Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) has a role as a metabolically active endocrine organ and secretes various proinflammatory cytokines. We hypothesized that EAT thickness in COPD patients might be associated with the systolic pulmonary arterial pressure (PAPs) level, and we aimed to test it. METHODS The present study included 129 consecutive patients with the diagnosis of COPD. All patients underwent transthoracic echocardiographic evaluation. The relationship between PAPs and EAT thickness was evaluated. RESULTS Positive correlations with PAPs were reported with age, EAT, white blood cell (WBC) and GOLD grade score (range 0.197-0.275, P values 0.026 to 0.002), negative correlations with body-mass index (BMI), hyperlipidemia, FEV1 (% predicted) and pO2 (range -0.216 to -0.340, P values .014 to <.001). In stepwise linear regression analysis, BMI (P = .003), EAT (P = .002), WBC (P = .001), and FEV1 (% predicted) (P = .010), were independently associated with PAPs. CONCLUSION EAT thickness in COPD patients with preserved left ventricular systolic function is associated with increased PAPs, and this association is independent of the parameters indicating the severity of COPD.

Abstract
Background: The clinical evidence of body mass index (BMI) for survival has increased in urothelial carcinoma (UC). This study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of BMI on the oncologic outcomes of patients with UC after surgery. Methods: The systematic review and meta-analysis was performed using Pubmed, Embase and Cochrane Library. We collected hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) on cancer specific survival (CSS), overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) from the studies including upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) and urothelial carcinoma of bladder (UCB). Results: A total of 13 studies comprising over 12,200 patients were enrolled in the quantitative synthesis. Compared with normal weight, overweight was associated with better CSS (HR = 0.87, 95% CI: 0.79-0.95) and RFS (HR = 0.86, 95% CI: 0.78-0.96). Meanwhile, we found that obese patients had worse CSS (HR = 1.14, 95%CI: 1.03-1.26), OS (HR = 1.31, 95% CI: 1.19-1.44) and RFS (HR = 1.24, 95% CI: 1.12-1.37). We observed that underweight was associated with inferior CSS (HR = 1.87, 95% CI: 1.54-2.26) in UTUC patients. Conclusions: Overweight was a protective factor for patients with UC after surgery, while obesity and underweight predicted unfavorable survival. Individual BMI may be considered for prognostication after surgeries and patient stratification for clinical trials.

Abstract
Growth Differentiation Factor 15 (GDF15) is a divergent member of transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) superfamily and is ubiquitously expressed, under normal physiological conditions. GDF15 expression increases during many pathological states and serves a marker of cellular stress. GDF15 has multiple and even paradoxical roles within a pathological condition, as its effects can be dose- and time-dependent and vary based on the targeted tissues and downstream pathways. GDF15 has emerged as one of the most recognized proteins as part of the senescence associated secretory phenotype. Cellular senescence plays a major role in many lung diseases across the life-span from bronchopulmonary dysplasia in the premature neonate to COPD and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in aged adults. GDF15 levels have been reported to be as a useful biomarker in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung fibrosis and pulmonary arterial hypertension and predict disease severity, decline in lung function and mortality. Glial-cell-line-derived neurotrophic factor family receptor alpha-like (GFRAL) in the brain stem has been identified as the only validated GDF15 receptor and mediates GDF15-mediated anorexia and wasting. The mechanisms and pathways by which GDF15 exerts its pulmonary effects are being elucidated. GDF15 may also have an impact on the lung based on the changes in circulating levels or through the central action of GDF15 activating peripheral metabolic changes. This review focuses on the role of GDF15 in different lung diseases across the lifespan and its role in cellular senescence.

Abstract
Background Estimates for lung function decline in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have differed by study setting and have not been described in a UK primary care population. Purpose To describe rates of FEV1 and FVC decline in COPD and investigate characteristics associated with accelerated decline. Patients and Methods Current/ex-smoking COPD patients (35 years+) who had at least 2 FEV1 or FVC measurements ≥6 months apart were included using Clinical Practice Research Datalink. Patients were followed up for a maximum of 13 years. Accelerated rate of lung function decline was defined as the fastest quartile of decline using mixed linear regression, and association with baseline characteristics was investigated using logistic regression. Results A total of 72,683 and 50,649 COPD patients had at least 2 FEV1 or FVC measurements, respectively. Median rates of FEV1 and FVC changes or decline were -18.1mL/year (IQR: -31.6 to -6.0) and -22.7mL/year (IQR: -39.9 to -6.7), respectively. Older age, high socioeconomic status, being underweight, high mMRC dyspnoea and frequent AECOPD or severe AECOPD were associated with an accelerated rate of FEV1 and FVC decline. Current smoking, mild airflow obstruction and inhaled corticosteroid treatment were additionally associated with accelerated FEV1 decline whilst women, sputum production and severe airflow obstruction were associated with accelerated FVC decline. Conclusion Rate of FEV1 and FVC decline was similar and showed similar heterogeneity. Whilst FEV1 and FVC shared associations with baseline characteristics, a few differences highlighted the importance of both lung function measures in COPD progression. We identified important characteristics that should be monitored for disease progression.

Abstract
Purpose Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) would have a poor prognosis if they were not continuously managed according to the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) guidelines. We aim to develop a model to classify whether COPD patients have been continuously managed according to GOLD in the previous year. Methods The Managed group were COPD patients from a prospective cohort from November 2017 to November 2019, who have been continuously managed according to GOLD for 1 year. The Control group were COPD patients who were not continuously managed according to GOLD. They were from a retrospective cohort from October 2016 to October 2017 in the same hospitals as the Managed group. A synthetic minority over-sampling technique (SMOTE) algorithm was used to up-sample the Managed group in a training dataset. Features for classification were selected using a support vector machine recursive feature elimination (SVM-RFE) algorithm. The classification model was developed using LibSVM, and its performance was assessed on the testing dataset. Results The final analysis included 15 subjects in the Managed group and 191 in the Control group. SVM-RFE selects nine features including smoking history, post-bronchodilator (post-)FVC before management, and those after 1-year follow-up (BMI, moderate and severe AECOPD frequency in previous 12 months, mMRC score, post-FEV1, post-FEV1%pred, post-FVC, and post-FEV1/FVC). For our model, positive predictive value is 66.7%, F1 score is 0.978, and AUC is 0.987. Conclusion SVM classifier combined with SVM-REF feature selection algorithm could achieve good classification between COPD patients who are or are not continuously managed. This model could be applied in clinical practice to help doctors make decisions and enhance COPD patients' compliance with standard treatment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Body mass index (BMI) is an important parameter associated with mortality and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, informed guidance on stratified weight recommendations for COPD is still lacking. This study aims to determine the association between BMI and HRQoL across different severity grades of COPD to support patient management. METHODS We use conjunct analysis of claims and survey data based on a German COPD disease management program from 2016 to 2017. The EQ-5D-5L visual analog scale (VAS) and COPD Assessment Test (CAT) are used to measure generic and disease-specific HRQoL. Generalized additive models with smooth functions are implemented to evaluate the relationship between BMI and HRQoL, stratified by COPD severity. RESULTS 11,577 patients were included in this study. Mean age was 69.4 years and 59% of patients were male. In GOLD grades 1-3, patients with BMI of around 25 had the best generic and disease-specific HRQoL, whereas in GOLD grade 4, obese patients had the best HRQoL using both instruments when controlled for several variables including smoking status, income, COPD severity, comorbidities, emphysema, corticosteroid use, and days spent in hospital. CONCLUSION This real-world analysis shows the non-linear relationship between BMI and HRQoL in COPD. HRQoL of obese patients with mild to severe COPD might improve following weight reduction. For very severe COPD, a negative association of obesity and HRQoL could not be confirmed. The results hint at the need to stratify COPD patients by disease stage for optimal BMI management.

Abstract
Objective The aim of this study was to explain “obesity paradox” in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) by evaluating the effect of body mass index (BMI) on lung function in Chinese patients with COPD. Methods A total of 1644 patients diagnosed with COPD were recruited from four Chinese tertiary hospitals and were divided into four groups including underweight, normal weight, overweight and obese according to BMI classification standard. The medical data of these patients were collected and used for the multiple linear regression analyses. Results After adjustment for age, sex, educational level, economic status, smoking status, alcohol consumption, duration of COPD history, events of acute exacerbation in previous year, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease and osteoporosis, BMI had a curvilinear correlation with the forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1) in patients with Global Initiative for Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) 1–2 grade (first-order coefficient β, 0.09; 95% CI, 0.03–0.16; second-order coefficient β, −0.002; 95% CI, −0.003–-0.001; P<0.01). However, BMI had a positive correlation with FEV1 in patients with GOLD 3–4 grade (β, 0.01; 95% CI, 0.008–0.017; P<0.01) when BMI was used as a quantitative variable. When BMI was used as a qualitative variable, only FEV1 in overweight group with GOLD 1–2 grade was significantly higher than that of normal weight group (P<0.01). Interestingly, both overweight and obese groups had higher FEV1 in GOLD 3–4 grade compared with normal weight group (β, 0.06; 95% CI, 0.02–0.11; β, 0.11; 95% CI, 0.04–0.18; P<0.01). The effect of BMI on predicted percentage of FEV1 (FEV1%) was similar to that of FEV1 in different GOLD grades. Conclusion Obesity only had a protective effect on lung function in COPD patients with GOLD 3–4 grade rather than GOLD 1–2 grade. Abstract
Maintenance of lung function is an often underappreciated, yet critical component of healthy aging. Given the unprecedented shift in the average age of Canadians over the next half century, it will be important to investigate the determinants of lung function in the elderly. In the following study, we estimated the association between lung function and a broad array of factors related to sociodemographics, lifestyle, chronic medical conditions and psychosocial factors in older adults aged 45-86 years old using cross-sectional data from the Canadian Longitudinal Study of Aging (n = 21,338). In addition to examining the entire cohort, we also performed stratified analyses within men/women, adults aged 45-64/65+, and healthy/comorbid. In multivariable regression, our explanatory factors (excluding age, sex, height and ethnicity) were able to explain 17% and 11% of the total variance in FEV1 and FEV1/FVC, respectively. Notable and significant contributions were observed for respiratory disease, smoking, obesity, income, and physical activity, while psychosocial factors mainly exhibited non-significant associations. Generally, these associations were stronger for males than females, and adults 65 and older as compared to those aged 45-64. Our findings indicate that there are pervasive and generally under-recognized sociodemographic and lifestyle factors that exhibit significant associations with FEV1 and FEV1/FVC in older adults. While implication of causality in these relationships is not possible due to the cross-sectional nature of the study, future work aiming to investigate determinants of lung health in older adults may choose to target these factors, given that many are modifiable.

Abstract
Background Despite chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) being the commonest non-communicable disease in Nepal, there is limited research evidence estimating the spirometry-based burden of COPD. This study aims to estimate the prevalence of COPD and its correlates through a community-based survey in Pokhara Metropolitan City, a semi-urban area of Western Nepal. Methods A cross-sectional household survey was conducted among 1459 adults ≥40 years. COPD was defined according to the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) criteria as a post-bronchodilator ratio of forced expiratory volume in 1st second (FEV1) to forced vital capacity (FVC) <0.70 with the presence of symptoms. COPD was also defined by the lower limit of normal (LLN) threshold – FEV1/FVC < LLN cut-off values with the presence of symptoms. Study participants were interviewed about sociodemographic and behavioural characteristics and respiratory symptoms. Descriptive statistics and logistic regression analysis were applied. Results Spirometry reports were acceptable in 1438 participants. The mean age of the participants was 55 (±10) years, and, 54% were female. The prevalence of GOLD-defined COPD was 8.5% (95% CI: 7.1–10.0) and based on the LLN threshold of 5.4% (95% CI: 4.2–6.6). The multivariate logistic regression showed that increasing age, low body mass index, illiterate, current or former smoker, and biomass fuel smoke increased the odds of COPD in both the definitions. Conclusion COPD is highly prevalent at community level and often underdiagnosed. Strategies aiming at early diagnosis and treatment of COPD, especially for the elderly, illiterate, and reducing exposure to smoking and biomass fuel smoke and childhood lung infection could be effective.

Abstract
CONTEXT Limited studies have identified symptom clusters (SCs) and their risk factors and the relationships with inflammatory biomarkers in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). OBJECTIVES In this study, we aimed to investigate SCs in patients with AECOPD and explore their influencing factors and relationships with inflammatory biomarkers. METHODS Data were collected with sociodemographic and disease information questionnaires, and symptoms were measured with the revised Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale. SCs were extracted through exploratory factor analysis. Logistic regression analysis was conducted to explore the risk factors of SCs. RESULTS A total of 151 patients were recruited. Two SCs, namely, emotional and respiratory functional SCs, were identified. Logistic regression analysis showed that individuals with high C-reactive protein level, Charlson Comorbidity Index score, and high modified Medical Research Council Dyspnea Scale score were more likely to belong to the high-severity symptom subgroup than to the low-severity symptom group in the emotional SC. The patients with a low body mass index and without or lax inhaled drug therapy exhibited highly prominent predictors of membership in the high-severity symptom group of the respiratory functional SC. CONCLUSION Symptoms experienced by patients with AECOPD were grouped into specific clusters. Targeted interventions should be performed based on SCs, and influencing factors and biological mechanisms should be considered when providing individualized approaches and interventions.

Abstract
COVID-19 crisis has lasted since the late 2019 to the present day. The severity of the disease is positively correlated with several factors, such as age and coexisting diseases. Furthermore, obesity is increasingly considered as a yet another risk factor, particularly, because it has been observed that people suffering from excessive body weight may experience a more severe course of COVID-19 infection. On the basis of current research, in our nonsystematic review, we have investigated the extent to which obesity can affect the SARS-CoV-2 course and identify the potential mechanisms of the disease. We have also described the role of proper nutrition, physical activity and other aspects relevant to the management of obesity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cigarette smoking is a major cause of COPD, with patients also presenting complications that stem from other smoking-related diseases, including urothelial cancer. However, the prevalence of COPD or airflow obstruction in urothelial cancer patients has not been well studied. METHODS We investigated the prevalence of airflow obstruction (FEV1/FVC < 70%) in newly diagnosed urothelial cancer patients and identified the risk factors for airflow obstruction in existing urothelial cancer patients. Additionally, we compared the characteristics of subjects who had been diagnosed with both airflow obstruction and urothelial cancer, and subjects whose airflow obstruction was discovered during health screenings. RESULTS A total of 217 patients were newly diagnosed with urothelial cancer during the study period at our institution. Among all patients, 210 (96.8%) underwent an evaluable lung function test, in which 38.6% (81 patients) displayed airflow obstruction defined as FEV1/FVC < 70%. In urothelial cancer patients, age, smoking index (pack-years), and BMI proved to be significant risk factors for airflow obstruction in multivariate logistic regression (p = 0.007, p < 0.0001, and p = 0.035, respectively). Gender, cancer stage, and cancer location were not significant risk factors. Patients with both airflow obstruction and urothelial cancer showed a more advanced emphysematous change than subjects presenting with airflow obstruction alone (unpaired t-test, p = 0.0003). CONCLUSIONS Airflow obstruction was identified in 38.6% of urothelial cancer patients. Age, smoking index (pack-years), and BMI were significant risk factors. A significantly higher emphysematous score was observed in subjects with urothelial cancer than in subjects with airway obstruction alone.

Abstract
Purpose The co-existence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) has been described as the overlap syndrome. The objective of the study is to investigate the performance of Berlin Questionnaire (BQ), modified Berlin Questionnaire (MBQ), and STOP-Bang score in screening overlap syndrome from COPD subjects and investigate how pulmonary function interferes with questionnaire scoring. Subjects and Methods Among 116 COPD subjects included in this study, 62 were overlap syndrome subjects and 54 were COPD subjects without OSA. Subjects included were asked to fill out the questionnaires to collect demographic characteristics of subjects and questionnaire scores of BQ, MBQ, and STOP-Bang; perform pulmonary function test to confirm their COPD diagnosis; and perform polysomnography. Results AUC (area under the curve) of BQ, MBQ, and STOP-Bang score in screening OSA among patients with COPD was 0.71 (0.64–0.79), 0.75 (0.67–0.83), and 0.72 (0.64–0.80). In COPD subjects without OSA, FEV1%pred was statistically associated with the misdiagnosis of BQ (P= 0.0091), MBQ (P= 0.0143), and STOP-Bang (P= 0.0453). In patients with overlap syndrome, FVC%pred affected the risk of misdiagnosis of the three questionnaires (BQ: P= 0.0413; MBQ: P= 0.0150; STOP-Bang: P= 0.0241). BMI and neck circumferences (NC) were negatively correlated with FEV1%pred (BMI: P= 0.0454; NC: P= 0.0230) and FVC%pred (BMI: P= 0.0042; NC: P= 0.0367) in overlap subjects. In contrast, BMI was positively correlated with FEV1/FVC (P= 0.0141) and FEV1%pred (P= 0.0391) in COPD subjects without OSA. Conclusion BQ, MBQ, and STOP-Bang score performed well in COPD subjects for screening OSA. The diagnosis of the three questionnaires was more accurate in subjects with lower FEV1%pred or FVC%pred value. Pulmonary function might exert influence on the diagnosis efficacy of the three questionnaires through BMI and neck circumference.
