Abstract
AIM To determine the effectiveness of brief reminiscence-based psychosocial interventions in alleviating psychological distress in cancer patients. BACKGROUND Cancer patients suffer tremendous psycho-spiritual pain, which affects their quality of life. Brief reminiscence-based psychosocial interventions have demonstrated positive effects on the mental health of cancer patients; however, the efficacy of these interventions has been inconsistent. DESIGN A systematic review and meta-analysis. METHODS This review was conducted and reported in accordance with the PRISMA 2020 checklist provided by the EQUATOR network. The Cochrane Library, Web of Science, PsycINFO, PubMed, Embase, CINAHL and Scopus databases were systematically searched from inception to 27 November 2022 to identify randomised controlled trials (RCTs) published in English. RESULTS Twenty studies involving 1744 cancer participants were included. The meta-analysis showed statistically significant effects of brief reminiscence-based psychosocial interventions on hope, anxiety and depression at post-intervention. A separate analysis revealed that brief reminiscence-based psychosocial interventions had a sustainable effect on hope, spiritual well-being, anxiety and depression at 1 month after the intervention. However, no statistically significant effect on quality of life was found in our study either immediately after the intervention or at 1 month. CONCLUSIONS Brief reminiscence-based psychosocial interventions can significantly reduce anxiety and depressive symptoms and improve hope and spiritual well-being in cancer patients. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE This study further supports that brief reminiscence-based psychosocial interventions should be incorporated into the routine care of cancer patients to address their psychosocial distress. Abstract
OBJECTIVE To examine the mental health status and related factors in children and adolescents, and to assess age groups and sexes differences in factors influencing mental health. METHODS This cross-sectional study was performed on Chinese children aged 6-18 years from November 2021 to January 2022. Mental health difficulties were accessed by the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire. Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze factors associated with mental health status. Multiple linear regression was used to evaluate factors associated with the scores of the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire. RESULTS The prevalence of mental health difficulties was 12.98% (n =1348). Age (OR, 0.909, [95%CI, 0.830-0.996]), sex (OR, 1.424, [95%CI, 1.033-1.963]) and screen time on weekdays ("≥2" h/d vs "< 1" h/d: OR, 2.001, [95%CI, 1.300-3.080]) were related factors for mental health difficulties. For children (year ≤ 12), the strongest related factor for mental health difficulties was screen time on weekdays ("≥ 2" h/d vs "< 1" h/d: OR, 1.821 [95%CI, 1.203-2.755]). The risk of mental health difficulties in females with ≥ 2 h/d screen time on weekends was 3.420 times higher than those with < 1 h/d (OR, 3.420, [95%CI, 1.923-6.081]). CONCLUSION The prevalence of mental health difficulties among children and adolescents was relatively high. The lower age, female sex and excessive screen time were associated with a higher risk of mental health difficulties. The factors influencing mental health varied by different age groups and sexes. Thus, specific measures for different age groups and sexes should be adopted to mitigate the impact.

Abstract
Background Family involvement and comfort are equally important in palliative care. Dignity undertook a new meaning and novel challenges as a result of restrictions on visits and companionship during the pandemic. Family-centered family dignity interventions have been shown to be effective in increasing patients' sense of dignity, increasing levels of hope, and reducing psychological distress; however, the effectiveness in enhancing family adaptability and intimacy in the survivor-caregiver binary and reducing expected grief have been inconclusive. Objectives The primary objective of this study was to assess the efficacy of family dignity interventions on family adaptability and cohesion. The secondary objective was to explore the effects of the interventions on anticipatory grief and psychological distress, and the lasting effect 1 month after the intervention. Design A single-blinded, two-arm parallel group, randomized controlled trial was conducted in China. Settings and methods: Ninety-eight dyads who met the inclusion criteria were randomly assigned to the family dignity intervention (n = 51) or standard palliative care group (n = 47) between June and August 2022. Study outcomes were measured at baseline, immediately post-intervention, and at the 1-month follow-up post-intervention evaluation. Data were analyzed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, independent sample t-test, Wilcoxon rank-sum test, and generalized estimation equations. The Intention-To-Treat analysis was performed for all available data. Results In comparison to the control group, significant improvements in family adaptability and cohesion and anticipatory grief over post-intervention and 1-month follow-up were demonstrated among the patients in the intervention group. The intervention group of caregivers had significant improvement in anticipatory grief at post-intervention and 1-month follow-up. The level of psychological distress was significantly lower in the intervention group than the control group (p < 0.05) at 1-month follow-up but the differences were not statistically significant at post-intervention. All outcomes showed clear differences from baseline after the intervention and at the 1-month follow-up evaluation but not between post-intervention and at the 1-month follow-up evaluation. Conclusion This study further verifies the actual effect of family dignity intervention program through randomized controlled trials, and provides a reference for improving the family relationship between advanced cancer patients and their family caregivers, and improving their mental health. The addition of family dignity intervention to standard palliative care greatly increased the adaptability and cohesion between survivors and their families, lessened the anticipatory grief of the survivor-caregiver pair, and relieved caregivers' anxiety and despair. We did not detect a statistically significant difference between post-intervention and the 1-month follow-up evaluation, suggesting that the intervention may have a durable impact at least 1 month.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed to explain the relationships between parents' mental well-being and sociodemographic characteristics with digital parenting awareness. DESIGN AND METHODS This cross-sectional study used structural equation modeling. It was conducted between January and May 2023 in a province in the Mediterranean region of Turkey with 262 parents with children aged 5-11 years. Research data were collected using the Personal Information Form, the Digital Parental Awareness Scale, and the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale. RESULTS Parents' mental well-being and digital parenting awareness were significantly associated with the sub-dimensions of being a negative model (β = -0.313), digital negligence (β = -0.187), efficient use (β = 0.284), and protection from risks (β = 0.432; all p < 0.001). Additionally, parental mental well-being, parent's internet usage time (years), the perception that their child/children are using digital tools unnecessarily, the monthly income of the family, parent's age, and education levels significantly impact digital parenting awareness (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Parents' mental well-being was moderately and significantly associated with digital parenting awareness. Furthermore, the high number of years of internet usage by parents, having high levels of education and income, being younger, and the perception that their children use digital tools unnecessarily are positively related to digital parenting awareness.

Abstract
Objective To clarify the concept of spiritual needs and explain its meaning to older adults with cancer. Methods Electronic databases (Web of Science, PubMed, EBSCOASU, CNKI, Wanfang, and VIP) were systematically searched and analyzed using "spiritual needs" as keywords. Rodgers' evolutionary method guided the concept analysis to identify attributes, antecedents, and consequences. Two rounds of Delphi expert consultations ensured accuracy, reliability, and feasibility for implementation. Results Spiritual needs express an individual's expectations of comfort and inner peace that satisfy his or her perception of the meaning and purpose of life, the ability to love and be loved, feelings of peace and gratitude, and a sense of belonging and hope. Spiritual needs have four dimensions: personal, communal, environmental, and transcendence or supreme. The attributes of spiritual needs include meaning and purpose of life, love and being loved, peace and gratitude, belonging, and hope. The antecedents include spiritual recognition and events that trigger spiritual needs and spiritual need thresholds. The outcomes of addressing and meeting the spiritual needs of older adults with cancer include promoting their spiritual health and enhancing their quality of life. After two rounds of Delphi experts' consultation, the expert authority coefficients (Cr) were 0.83 and 0.88, respectively. Experts agreed on the concept of spiritual needs. Conclusions Exploring antecedents of spiritual needs in older adults with cancer clarifies obstacles to spiritual practice, offering intervention strategies for spiritual care and well-being. Meeting their spiritual needs enhances spiritual health and quality of life, essential in humanistic nursing care.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The majority of adult cancer patients/survivors encounter social challenges (e.g., obtaining social support, maintaining social relationships, feelings of social isolation). This systematic review summarizes intervention studies addressing social integration or social connectedness issues among young- and middle-aged cancer patients/survivors. METHODS We searched the PubMed, CINAHL, and Web of Science databases (January 2000-May 2021) to identify intervention studies that addressed social integration, social connectedness, social support, and social isolation for cancer patients/survivors in young- and middle-aged adulthood (18-64.9 years) through a randomized controlled trial (RCT). We categorized the interventions as technology-based, non-technology-based, and mixed-type (technology- and non-technology-based). RESULTS A total of 28 studies were identified. These interventions demonstrated improved social outcomes (e.g., increased social support, decreased loneliness), increased awareness of available cancer-related resources, and better patient-reported outcomes among patients/survivors versus controls. Specifically, the use of internet-based discussion sessions was associated with improved social cohesion and social support. Receiving social support from peers through networking sites was associated with improved physical activity. Additionally, implementing mixed-type interventions led to better social support from peer survivors, less fear of social interactions, and improved social connectedness. CONCLUSIONS Using existing technology- and/or non-technology-based platforms to facilitate social connectedness among cancer patients/survivors in young- or middle-aged adulthood can help them cope with stressful life circumstances and improve quality-of-life. Further interventions targeting social integration (e.g., social network interventions) are needed to improve the complex social integration challenges experienced by cancer patients and survivors.

Abstract
Background Suicide ideation (SI) has become a serious social issue worldwide, and research has found a certain correlation between negative life events (NLE) and SI. Nevertheless, this relationship is still not clear among Chinese adolescents, a special population. Hence, this investigation performed a meta-analysis of observational research on the correlation between NLE and SI among adolescents in China, to further clarify the association. Methods We performed an extensive search on seven electronic databases starting from their establishment until March 10, 2023. The research mainly focused on cross-sectional studies conducted on samples of Chinese adolescents. To examine the association between NLE and SI, a meta-analysis model using random effects was utilized. To investigate moderating factors such as age, region, assessment tools for SI, and year of publication, subgroup and meta-regression analyses were performed. The AHRQ evaluated the quality of the study. The synthesis of data was conducted utilizing STATA software (version 16). Results Ultimately, a total of 30 cross-sectional studies were selected for this analysis, including 39,602 individuals in the participant sample. The results showed that NLE was moderately positively correlated with SI among Chinese adolescents (r = 0.29, 95% CI: 0.26, 0.32). In addition, this relationship was moderated by regional differences and the measurement tool used for SI. Studies conducted in Western China showed a higher correlation coefficient than those conducted in Eastern and Central China. Moreover, research conducted with the SSIOSS demonstrated a stronger correlation coefficient compared to studies utilizing the BSI-CV or other assessment instruments. Conclusion This meta-analysis indicates that NLE is linked to SI in Chinese teenagers, especially those residing in Western regions of China. Identifying and intervening in NLE and associated risk factors are crucial to prevent suicide within this demographic.

Abstract
Importance Although a growing number of studies have reported negative associations of the COVID-19 pandemic with academic performance among school-aged children, less is known about the pandemic's association with early childhood development. Objective To examine the association between the COVID-19 pandemic and early childhood development. Design, Setting, and Participants In this cohort study conducted in all accredited nursery centers in a Japanese municipality, baseline surveys of children aged 1 and 3 years (1000 and 922, respectively) were conducted between 2017 and 2019, and participants were followed up for 2 years. Exposure Children's development was compared at age 3 or 5 years between cohorts that were exposed to the pandemic during the follow-up and a cohort that was not. Main Outcome and Measure Children's developmental age was measured by nursery teachers using the Kinder Infant Development Scale (KIDS). Data were analyzed between December 8, 2022, and May 6, 2023. Results A total of 447 children (201 girls [45.0%] and 246 boys [55.0%]) aged 1 year at baseline were followed up to age 3 years, and 440 children (200 girls [45.5%] and 240 boys [54.5%]) aged 3 years at baseline were followed up to age 5 years. During the follow-up, the cohorts that were exposed to the pandemic were 4.39 months behind in development at age 5 compared with the cohort that was not (coefficient, -4.39; 95% credible interval, -7.66 to -1.27). Such a negative association was not observed in development at age 3 years (coefficient, 1.32; 95% credible interval, -0.44 to 3.01). Variations in development were greater during the pandemic than before the pandemic regardless of age. Additionally, the quality of care at nursery centers was positively associated with development at age 3 years during the pandemic (coefficient, 2.01; 95% credible interval, 0.58-3.44), while parental depression appeared to amplify the association between the pandemic and delayed development at age 5 (coefficient of interaction, -2.62; 95% credible interval, -4.80 to -0.49; P = .009). Conclusions and Relevance The findings of this study showed an association between exposure to the pandemic and delayed childhood development at age 5 years. Variations in development widened during the pandemic regardless of age. It is important to identify children with developmental delays associated with the pandemic and provide them with support for learning, socialization, physical and mental health, and family support.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to investigate the Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) of nephrologists on the decision of renal replacement therapy (RRT), including peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, and kidney transplantation. METHODS This multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted on qualified nephrologists who volunteered to participate between July and August 2022 by using a self-administered questionnaire. RESULTS Among 327 nephrologists, the total knowledge, attitude, and practice scores were 12.03 ± 2.11/16, 58.39 ± 6.62/75, and 27.15 ± 2.74/30, respectively. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the attitude score (peritoneal dialysis: OR = 1.19, 95%CI: 1.13-1.25, P < 0.001; hemodialysis: OR = 1.14, 95%CI: 1.09-1.19, P < 0.001; kidney transplantation: OR = 1.12, 95%CI: 1.07-1.16, P < 0.001), 41-50 years of age (peritoneal dialysis: OR = 0.45, 95%CI: 0.21-0,98, P = 0.045; hemodialysis: OR = 0.27, 95%CI: 0.12-0.60, P = 0.001; kidney transplantation: OR = 0.45, 95%CI:0.20-0.97, P = 0.042), and > 50 years of age (peritoneal dialysis: OR = 0.27, 95%CI: 0.08-0.84, P = 0.024; hemodialysis: OR = 0.45, 95%CI: 0.20-0.97, P = 0.042; kidney transplantation: OR = 0.24, 95%CI: 0.08-0.77, P = 0.016) were independently associated with the consideration score of peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, and kidney transplantation. CONCLUSION Better attitudes may lead to more consideration by nephrologists when choosing between peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, and kidney transplantation and relatively less consideration by senior physicians when making decisions; in addition, having good knowledge and good attitudes may lead to better practice.

Abstract
People are increasingly relying on social networking sites (SNSs) to satisfy their needs for relatedness. However, the psychological benefits of receiving others' feedback on SNSs remain relatively understudied. To fill this research gap, the present research examined whether and how others' feedback to one's status updates on WeChat Moments (i.e. the most popular SNS in China) affects loneliness. A correlational study (N = 261) and an experimental study (N = 412) conducted among Chinese university students indicated that receiving more (vs. less) feedback in the forms of "likes" and "comments" predicted lower loneliness, and this effect was explained by a higher sense of social connectedness. However, receiving feedback only elicited higher social connectedness and thus lower loneliness among participants with high public self-consciousness, but this effect was not significant among those with low public self-consciousness. These findings extend the research on SNS use and loneliness by providing new insights into the underlying psychological mechanisms and have important practical implications for SNS developers and users in terms of how to design and use SNSs to better satisfy different users' psychological needs.

Abstract
Due to the growth of research on sleep, mental health, and learning burnout on healthy growth and its related public health significance of adolescents, this study aimed to provide a deeper understanding of the effect of mental health and learning burnout on sleep among primary school students. The sleep quality (subjective sleep quality, sleep time, sleep latency, sleep duration, sleep efficiency, sleep disturbance, and daytime dysfunction), mental health, and learning burnout (exhaustion, learning cynicism, and reduced efficacy) of 900 students of grades 3–6 in primary schools were assessed in 2020. The PSQI scores of participants were 4.19 ± 2.545, of which a number of 322 (39.03%) students had sleep disturbance (PSQI scores ≧ 5). Binary logistic regression analysis showed that screen time (OR = 1.518, 95% CI: 1.164–1.980), ranking status (OR = 0.659, 95% CI: 0.480–0.907), learning burnout (OR = 1.088, 95% CI: 1.067–1.108), and mental health (OR = 4.672, 95% CI: 1.954–11.173) were the influencing factors for sleep quality of grade 3–6 students. According to the mediation effect analyses, mental health played a mediating effect (58.73% of the total effect) on the relationship between learning burnout and sleep quality. In conclusion, primary school students in Hunan of China have prominent sleep problems, and the daytime dysfunction caused by sleep problems is the most serious. Learning burnout positively predicted poorer sleep quality, and mental health played a mediating effect on the relationship between learning burnout and sleep quality.

Abstract
Objective It is well-documented in the literature that dignity therapy is feasible and effectively improves the end-of-life experience of the terminally ill. In a similar vein, this study aimed to develop and investigate the feasibility of evidence-based and culturally sensitive family-oriented dignity therapy for Chinese patients with lung cancer undergoing chemotherapy. Methods Three phases of the Medical Research Council framework were adopted to guide the development of the novel dignity therapy intervention. It was preliminarily designed based on a qualitative study and a systematic review, Erikson's eighth stage of psychosocial development, and the dignity model. The feasibility and acceptability of the intervention were examined in a pilot randomized controlled trial with 12 recruited dyads of patients and family caregivers. Results The intervention consists of three face-to-face sessions that facilitate participants’ reminiscences and promote their communication. Recruitment and response rates for the feasibility study of the intervention were 92.3% and 75%, respectively. Both patients and family caregivers reported that the intervention alleviated their psychological distress and improved communication. Conclusions The Medical Research Council framework serves as a useful scientific basis for modifying dignity therapy with a culturally sensitive approach. The results of the feasibility study suggest that the family-oriented dignity therapy intervention is feasible, acceptable and has the potential to enhance the effects of dignity therapy. This study devised a stepwise procedure for developing a culturally sensitive family-oriented dignity therapy intervention. The family-oriented dignity therapy intervention is feasible and acceptable for Chinese patients with lung cancer . The family-oriented dignity therapy has the potential toalleviate patients' dignity-related and psychological distress.

Abstract
Although discrimination is widely acknowledged to impair developmental outcomes among ethnic minority adolescents, literature differentiating discrimination based on personal characteristics and group membership is lacking, especially in Chinese contexts, and the mechanisms of those relationships remain unclear. In response, the study presented here examined whether self-esteem mediates the relationship between perceived academic discrimination and developmental outcomes among such ethnic minority adolescents, and whether ethnic identity mediates the relationship between perceived ethnic discrimination and developmental outcomes. Multistage cluster random sampling performed in Dali and Kunming, China, yielded a sample of 813 Bai adolescents whose data was analysed in structural equation modelling. The results indicate that perceived academic discrimination had a direct negative effect on adolescents' mental health, while perceived ethnic discrimination had direct negative effects on their behavioural adjustment and social competence. Perceived academic discrimination also indirectly affected adolescents' behavioural adjustment, mental health, and social competence via self-esteem, whereas perceived ethnic discrimination indirectly affected their behavioural adjustment and social competence via ethnic identity. These findings deepen current understandings of how perceived discrimination, self-esteem, and ethnic identity affect the developmental outcomes of ethnic minority adolescents and provide practical recommendations for policymakers and social workers to promote those outcomes in China.

Abstract
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES To investigate the relationships of sociodemographic factors, self-stigma, glycaemic control (measured by glycated haemoglobin (A1C)) and self-care behaviours in young adults with type 2 diabetes. BACKGROUND Young adults aged 25-44 years are in their most productive period. Once diagnosed with diabetes, this population tends to experience poor glycaemic control and perform poorly in self-care activities. Such patterns may raise perceptions of self-stigma and further decrease motivations to engage in self-care behaviours in patients with diabetes. DESIGN A cross-sectional, correlational research design. METHODS The STROBE guidelines for cross-sectional studies were followed. A convenience sample of 115 participants was recruited from a medical centre in southern Taiwan. Instruments included the Self-Stigma Scale-Chinese version and the Diabetes Self-Care Behaviours Scale. Data were analysed using a three-step hierarchical regression analysis and the Sobel test. RESULTS The average age of the participants was 36.7 years. Marital status, employment status, self-stigma and A1C were significantly associated with self-care behaviours, and these four variables explained 43.6% of the variance in self-care behaviours. However, A1C (β = -.58, p < .001) was found to be the only determinant of self-care behaviours in the last regression model. The Sobel test showed that A1C had mediating effects on self-stigma and self-care behaviours as well as employment status and self-care behaviours. CONCLUSION This study supports the interactive relationship among self-stigma, employment status, glycaemic control and self-care behaviours in young adults with type 2 diabetes. Strategies aimed at optimising glycaemic control can help reduce the effects of self-stigma perceptions and employment status on the self-care behaviours of such patients. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE More effective educational programmes should be designed to improve glycaemic control, lower the effects of employment and decrease perceptions of self-stigma to further motivate young adults to engage in better diabetes self-care behaviours.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the mental health status of primary school students and the factors influencing the mental health status during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic. METHODS Online questionnaire surveys were conducted among 3 600 primary school students aged 6-12 years in Jilin Province, China in April, 2020 (during the epidemic) and 3 089 primary school students in September, 2020 (during the regular epidemic prevention and control). The general information and the data related to the Mental Health Scale for Child and Adolescent were collected by the questionnaire surveys. The multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the factors influencing the mental health status of the students during the epidemic. RESULTS The students during the epidemic had a significantly poorer mental health status in the emotional experience and volitional behavior than those during the regular epidemic prevention and control (P < 0.05). The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed the risk of psychological problems of the students decreased with age (OR=0.895). The girls were at a higher risk of psychological problems than boys (OR=1.453). The students with father's and mother's charater between irritability and gentle were at a lower risk of psychological problems (OR=0.496 and 0.470 respectively). The students from a family with a parental education style of a combination of encouraging and scolding were at a lower risk of psychological problems (OR=0.263). The students from a single-parent family or an extended family were at a higher risk of psychological problems (OR=2.995 and 3.446 respectively). CONCLUSIONS The COVID-19 epidemic has a certain impact on emotional experience and volitional behavior of primary school students. During the epidemic, particular attention should be paid to the mental health of primary school students, especially girls, younger students, and students from single-parent families, extended families or families with impatient parents and improper parental education.

Abstract
Objective: Head-and-neck cancer (HNC) and its treatment impact patients' quality of life (QoL) and survival. The symptom burden of HNC survivors severely affects QoL, while hope serves as an impetus for adjustment that enables survivors to sustain basic QoL. This study investigated the change of QoL, symptom burden, and hope and the predictors of QoL change in HNC survivors from diagnosis to 3 months after concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) completing. Methods: This was a prospective, correlational study conducted between January 2016 and April 2017 at a medical center in northern Taiwan. Purposive sampling 54 adults newly diagnosed with HNC had completed the first CCRT. The questionnaires of Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-HNC Scale, M. D. Anderson Symptom Inventory, and Herth Hope Index were collected. The five measuring times were before CCRT (T1), the 3rd–4th week of CCRT (T2), the last week of CCRT (T3), and 1 month (T4) and 3 months (T5) after the completion of CCRT. Results: The change of QoL first declined and then rose at T2–T5. The change of symptom burden increased initially and then declined at T2–T5. The change of hope remained steady between T1 and T5. The change of symptom burden and hope significantly predicted the change of QOL over time. Conclusions: Clinicians are suggested to assess symptom burden and hope regularly in HNC during their CCRT and, if needed, promptly provide interprofessional care in time. Reducing symptom burden and maintaining a mindful hope could improve QoL in HNC survivors during CCRT.

Abstract
Continence care breaches social norms about privacy, nakedness and bodily functions. Faecal incontinence (FI) is a condition that is associated with a significant emotional impact, which extends to not only the patient but also the nurse or care worker. Patients can experience feelings of guilt and shame and a sense of 'incompetence', which can be connected to childhood experiences. Similarly, nurses and caregivers can encounter feelings of disgust and revulsion, which are often denied, as part of the perceived professional expectation. Nurses can develop self-protective behaviours including emotional detachment and development of a task-orientated approach to physical care. This can, in turn, accentuate the negative feelings experienced by patients with FI. Nurses developing self-awareness through reflection on their own difficult feelings can help to improve communication, which will meet patients' emotional needs and improve the therapeutic relationship. This article aims to encourage nurses and care workers to develop an empathetic understanding of the basic human emotional responses experienced by patients. It also aims to improve nurses' awareness of their own feelings and help them recognise the effect of these emotions on their own behaviours and their patients. Lastly, the importance of providing emotional care to patients with FI is discussed.
