Abstract
In this work, a novel electrochemical detection strategy was developed based on a metal-organic framework of zinc oxide nanorod nanoparticles and rutin for selective screening of Thiourea as toxic chemicals. The zinc oxide nanorod were synthesized by following direct chemical precipitation methods and characterized by X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis. The surface of modified electrodes was also characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopes, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and attenuated total reflectance flourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Furthermore, the electrochemical activity of the developed sensor was tested by cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The modified electrode showed outstanding electro-catalytic activity towards the detection of Thiourea in phosphate buffer saline at a high pH level of 12.0. The proposed sensor showed a linear range of linearity in a concentration ranging from 5.0 × 10-6 - 900 × 10-6 molL-1 and a detection limit of 2.0 × 10-6 molL-1. Moreover, the selectivity of the developed electrochemical sensor was investigated for the detection of Thiourea in the presence of organic compounds and a group of anions. Furthermore, the proposed strategy demonstrated an excellent recovery value in the spiked farmland water and fruit juice sample.

Abstract
The electrochemical behaviors of thiourea (TU) oxidation have been studied at Palladium (Pd) electrode in the acidic medium by recording cyclic voltammograms (CVs). The influence of pH was investigated in the pH range of 1.0 to 9.0. Facilitated adsorption of TU on electrode surface results in enhanced catalytic response in acidic medium and maximum electro-catalytic response was found at pH∼3.0. Chronoamperometric (CA) experiment determined this oxidation as 1e- transfer process and the variation of TU concentration reveals a 1st order kinetics. In the CV responses, the large value of peak separation (▵Ep >380 mV) calculated by the variation of scan rate indicates that oxidation of TU is an irreversible process. With the aid of convolution potential sweep voltammetry (CPSV), the standard rate constant (k°) for the reaction was found to be 7.1×10-4 cm/s and the formal potential constant (E°' ) was evaluated to be ∼0.37 V vs Ag/AgCl (sat. KCl). The value of transfer coefficient (α) was found to vary from 0.74 to 0.40 with applied potential (E). From the potential dependent variation of transfer coefficient (α) and activation energy (▵G≠ ), it was concluded that the overall electrochemical oxidation of TU follows a stepwise mechanism at lower potential (<0.40) V and a concerted one at relatively higher potential (>0.40) V. The FTIR analysis of the product after oxidation of TU molecules confirmed the appearance of a new sharp band near 530 cm-1 due to the formation of S-S bonds suggesting formation of formamidine disulfide (FD) ions.

Abstract
Low-dimensional cobalt oxide codoped manganese oxide nanoparticles (CMO NPs; dia. ~ 25.6nm) were synthesized using the hydrothermal method in alkaline phase. The optical, morphological, and structural properties of CMO NPs were characterized in details using FT-IR, UV/vis., FESEM, XEDS, XPS, TEM, and XRD techniques. Glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was fabricated with a thin-layer of CMO NPs by conducting coating binders for the development of selective and sensitive thiourea (TU) sensors. Electrochemical responses along with higher sensitivity, large-dynamic-range, and long-term stability towards TU were performed by electrochemical I-V approach. The calibration curve was found linear over a wide linear dynamic range (LDR) of TU concentration. From the gradient of the calibration plot, limit of detection (LOD), and sensitivity were calculated as 12.0±0.05pM and 3.3772nAnM-1cm-2 respectively. It is an organized route for the development of chemical sensor based on very low-dimensional CMO NPs/GCE using electrochemical reduction phenomena. As far as we know, this report is the maiden publication on highly sensitive TU sensor based on the CMO NPs/GCE. This method could be a pioneer developer in TU sensitive chemical sensor development using doped NPs in the simple I-V method for the important sensor applications with useful doped materials coupled nano-technological systems for environmental safety.

Abstract
In this work, a flow injection analysis (FIA) method was introduced for the determination of trace amounts of thiourea in tap water. This method is based upon the inhibition effect of thiourea on the reaction between meta-cresol purple (MCP) and potassium bromate catalyzed by bromide ions in a sulfuric acid medium. In the presence of thiourea, an induction period appears in the reaction system, and as a result, the absorbance of MCP increases at 525 nm in the FIA manifold. The chemical and FIA variables are studied and optimized using the univariate and Simplex optimization methods. Under the optimum conditions, thiourea can be determined in the range of 0.100-13.0 μg mL(-1). The limit of detection (3σ) for thiourea was found to be 0.0310 μg mL(-1). The relative standard deviations (RSDs) for six replicate determinations of 0.500, 5.00, and 12.0 μg mL(-1) of thiourea were 4.0%, 1.8%, and 1.2%, respectively. The proposed method was also applied for the determination of thiourea in orange juice and orange peel samples with recoveries in the range of 98.0-101%. The analytical speed of the method was calculated to be about 120 sample per hour.

Abstract
In this article, we evaluate glycosyl dithiocarbamates (DTCs) with unprotected C2 hydroxyls as donors in β-linked oligosaccharide synthesis. We report a mild, one-pot conversion of glycals into β-glycosyl DTCs via DMDO oxidation with subsequent ring opening by DTC salts, which can be generated in situ from secondary amines and CS2. Glycosyl DTCs are readily activated with Cu(I) or Cu(II) triflate at low temperatures and are amenable to reiterative synthesis strategies, as demonstrated by the efficient construction of a tri-β-1,6-linked tetrasaccharide. Glycosyl DTC couplings are highly β-selective despite the absence of a preexisting C2 auxiliary group. We provide evidence that the directing effect is mediated by the C2 hydroxyl itself via the putative formation of a cis-fused bicyclic intermediate.

Abstract
A catalytic kinetic method is described for determination of trace levels of thiourea based on its catalytic effect on the oxidation of Janus green (JG) by potassium iodate in hydrochloric acid media. The reaction was monitored by measuring the decrease in absorbance of the dye at 610 nm after 25 min. The effect of some factors on the reaction speed was investigated. The developed method allowed the determination of thiourea in range of 0.01-12.00 mg L(-1) with good precision, accuracy and the detection limit was 0.008 mg L(-1). Most of foreign species do not interfere with the determination. The method was found to be sensitive, selective and was applied to the determination of thiourea in fruit juices and orange peel.

Abstract
A highly sensitive, selective and simple kinetic method was developed for the determination of trace levels of thiourea based on its catalytic effect on the oxidation of janus green in phosphoric acid media and presence of Triton X-100 surfactant without any separation and pre-concentration steps. The reaction was monitored spectrophotometrically by tracing the formation of the green-colored oxidized product of janus green at 617 nm within 15 min of mixing the reagents. The effect of some factors on the reaction speed was investigated. Following the recommended procedure, thiourea could be determined with linear calibration graph in 0.03-10.00 microg/ml range. The detection limit of the proposed method is 0.02 microg/ml. Most of foreign species do not interfere with the determination. The high sensitivity and selectivity of the proposed method allowed its successful application to fruit juice and industrial waste water.

Abstract
TAA is a harmful, presumptive pollutant in tap waters and waste waters. Several alternatives have been tested as new possibilities for the anodic determination of TAA in aqueous solutions, simulated waste waters and tap water. The electrochemical behaviour of thioacetamide (TAA) was investigated at a boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrode both in unbuffered 0.1 M Na₂SO₄ and buffered solutions as supporting electrolytes. The anodic oxidation of TAA showed well-defined limiting currents or current peaks and a good linearity of the amperometric signal vs. concentration plots. The analytical parameters of sensitivity, RSD and LOD, obtained under various experimental conditions, suggest the suitability of the BDD electrode for electroanalytical purposes. Low fouling effects, good reproducibility and stability, as well as the sharpness of the amperometric signals in both unbuffered/ buffered acidic or neutral media, highly superior to those obtained using a glassy carbon (GC) electrode, recommend the unmodified BDD electrode as a promising potential amperometric sensor for environmental applications, regarding the direct anodic determination of TAA in aqueous media.

Abstract
Electrodes based on carbon, i.e., expanded graphite (20%, wt.)-epoxy composite (20EG-Epoxy) and expanded graphite (20%, wt.)-polystyrene composite (20EG-PS) have been prepared, characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and cyclic voltammetry (CV), and tested as anodic sensors. The electrodes exhibited good mechanical resistance and low electrical resistances. Scan rate dependent cyclic voltammetry responses at 20EG-Epoxy and 20EG-PS composite electrodes, which were exemplified for thiourea (TU), a toxic sulphur organic compound selected as testing target analyte in 0.1 M Na2SO4 supporting electrolyte, were investigated. The obtained voltammetric data were in accordance with those for a random array of microelectrodes. The voltammetric and chronoamperometric detection results of TU in tap water samples, without a supplementary addition of supporting electrolyte, at 20EG-Epoxy electrode proved its use for direct analysis of environmental samples.

Abstract
A novel chromogenic probe for thiourea, N-chloroacetyl parafuchsin (CAP), was designed and synthesized. The method was based on the reaction of CAP with thiourea, resulting in the initial formation of the S-substituted thioformamidine hydrochloride, which would then undergo the intramolecular amidinolysis to liberate the corresponding amine, and thus leading to an absorbance increase at visible spectral range. Based on this mechanism, a highly selective optical probe for thiourea was developed. Under optimal conditions, absorbance increase (DeltaA) at 562 nm is proportional to thiourea concentration up to 0.2 mmolL(-1) with a detection limit of 2.1 micromolL(-1) (3sigma). Because of the selective removal of chloroacetyl group from CAP by thiourea, there is little interference by other molecules.
