Abstract
Psoriasis is a common skin disease. With an in-depth understanding of psoriasis, small-molecule drugs and biologics are developed and used in clinical practice, but some patients still cannot achieve a satisfactory therapeutic effect. Tobacco smoking and alcohol drinking are proven to be factors affecting psoriasis. Still, evidence of the impact of tobacco smoking and alcohol consumption on the efficacy of psoriasis treatment is limited. This study aims to understand the prevalence of tobacco smoking and alcohol drinking among patients with psoriasis in Shanghai and to examine the association between tobacco smoking as well as alcohol drinking and the therapeutic effect in patients with psoriasis. We conducted a longitudinal observational study and recruited at least 500 psoriasis patients at Shanghai Skin Disease Hospital. In this study, patients with clinically diagnosed psoriasis vulgaris, aged ≥18 years, both males and females, with informed consent were recruited. However, patients with pregnancy, serious underlying disease conditions, communication barriers, and violation of medication regulations were excluded. Patients with psoriasis in this study receive a physical examination and case record form interview. The primary outcome indicator is the proportion of patients with PASI75 achievement at Week 8. In this study, we use SAS 9.2 software to analyze the data. This study has been reviewed and approved by the Institutional Ethics Review Committee of Shanghai Skin Disease Hospital in 2021 (NO. 2021-44). It has been registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (ChiCTR2200066403). Patient recruitment began in January 2021 and is proposed to be finished in December 2024. The findings in this study will provide evidence of how tobacco smoking and alcohol drinking impact the treatment efficacy among patients with psoriasis. Therefore, the implementation of tobacco control and alcohol abstinence benefit the improvement of treatment responses.

Abstract
Purpose Tobacco smoking and alcohol drinking are positively associated with psoriasis prevalence and disease severity. Researches focusing on the influence of smoking and drinking on the treatment efficacy of psoriasis are still limited, especially their interaction effect. This study aims to explore the interactive effects of smoking and drinking on the treatment efficacy in psoriasis patients. Patients and Methods From 2021 to 2022, we recruited 560 patients with psoriasis from Shanghai Skin Diseases Hospital. Demographic and clinical features as well as treatment efficacy were collected through questionnaire interview and physical examination during patient's hospital visit at week 0, week 4 and week 8. Logistic regression model was used to explore the influence of smoking and drinking on the treatment efficacy in psoriasis patients, and multiplicative and additive interaction models were used to verify the interaction effect of smoking and drinking on the treatment efficacy. Results The prevalence of smoking and drinking among psoriasis patients was respectively 43.8% and 25.4%, and 19.6% of them with both smoking and drinking. Logistic regression analysis showed that patients with smoking (OR=7.78, 95% CI: 5.26~11.49) and drinking (OR=5.21, 95% CI: 3.29~8.27) had higher risk of experiencing the failure to achieve PASI75 at week 8, even with the adjustment of confounders. Moreover, multiplicative as well as additive model showed that tobacco smoking interacted with alcohol drinking which influenced the treatment efficacy more severely (OR=12.74, 95% CI: 7.16~22.67). The proportion of PASI75 achievement in female patients (OR=19.54) and patients with methotrexate (OR=28.31) and biologics (OR=21.61) were more likely being affected by smoking and drinking. Conclusion Tobacco smoking and alcohol drinking could increase the failure of PASI75 achievement in patients with psoriasis, individually and interactively. We recommend that dermatologists should educate patients to pay attention to the negative effects of smoking and drinking, encourage them to quit, and thus improve the treatment efficacy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Many effective therapies for psoriasis are being applied in clinical practice in recent years, however, some patients still can't achieve satisfied effect even with biologics. Therefore, it is crucial to identify factors associated with the treatment efficacy among psoriasis patients. This study aims to explore factors influencing the treatment efficacy of psoriasis patients based on decision tree model and logistic regression. METHODS We implemented an observational study and recruited 512 psoriasis patients in Shanghai Skin Diseases Hospital from 2021 to 2022. We used face-to-face questionnaire interview and physical examination to collect data. Influencing factors of treatment efficacy were analyzed by using logistic regression, and decision tree model based on the CART algorithm. The receiver operator curve (ROC) was plotted for model evaluation and the statistical significance was set at P < 0.05. RESULTS The 512 patients were predominately males (72.1%), with a median age of 47.5 years. In this study, 245 patients achieved ≥ 75% improvement in psoriasis area and severity index (PASI) score in week 8 and was identified as treatment success (47.9%). Logistic regression analysis showed that patients with senior high school and above, without psoriasis family history, without tobacco smoking and alcohol drinking had higher percentage of treatment success in patients with psoriasis. The final decision tree model contained four layers with a total of seventeen nodes. Nine classification rules were extracted and five factors associated with treatment efficacy were screened, which indicated tobacco smoking was the most critical variable for treatment efficacy prediction. Model evaluation by ROC showed that the area under curve (AUC) was 0.79 (95%CI: 0.75 ~ 0.83) both for logistic regression model (0.80 sensitivity and 0.69 specificity) and decision tree model (0.77 sensitivity and 0.73 specificity). CONCLUSION Psoriasis patients with higher education, without tobacco smoking, alcohol drinking and psoriasis family history had better treatment efficacy. Decision tree model had similar predicting effect with the logistic regression model, but with higher feasibility due to the nature of simple, intuitive, and easy to understand.

Abstract
Epidemiological data demonstrate strong associations between psoriasis and metabolic comorbidities, including obesity, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. The presence of metabolic comorbidities significantly influences the selection and effectiveness of pharmacological treatments. Some drugs should be prescribed with caution in patients with metabolic comorbidities because of an increased risk of adverse events, while others could have a reduced effectiveness. The aim of this narrative review is to highlight the challenges that healthcare professionals may face regarding the management of psoriasis in patients with metabolic comorbidities. In the first part of the article, the epidemiological association between psoriasis and metabolic comorbidities and their pathogenetic mechanisms is summarized. The second part describes the efficacy and safety profile of conventional and biologic drugs in patients with selected metabolic comorbidities including obesity, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease/hepatic steatosis, and diabetes. Finally, the role of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, such as diet, alcohol abstinence, physical activity, and smoking avoidance is discussed. In conclusion, the choice of the best approach to manage patients with psoriasis with metabolic comorbidities should encompass both tailored pharmacological and individualized non-pharmacological interventions.

Abstract
Cinnamaldehyde is extracted from Cinnamomum cassia and other species, providing diverse sources for varying chemical properties and therapeutic effects. Besides natural extraction, synthetic production and biotechnological methods like microbial fermentation offer scalable and sustainable alternatives. Cinnamaldehyd demonstrates a broad pharmacological range, impacting various diseases through detailed mechanisms. This review aims to encapsulate the diverse therapeutic effects of cinnamaldehyde, its molecular interactions, and its potential in clinical applications. Drawing on recent scientific studies and databases like Web of Science, PubMed, and ScienceDirect, this review outlines cinnamaldehyde's efficacy in treating inflammatory conditions, bacterial infections, cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular and kidney diseases. It primarily operates by inhibiting the NF-κB pathway and modulating pro-inflammatory mediators, alongside disrupting bacterial cells and inducing apoptosis in cancer cells. The compound enhances metabolic health by improving glucose uptake and insulin sensitivity and offers cardiovascular protection through its anti-inflammatory and lipid-lowering effects. Additionally, it promotes autophagy in kidney disease management. Preclinical and clinical research supports its therapeutic potential, underscoring the need for further investigation into its mechanisms and safety to develop new drugs based on cinnamaldehyde.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Psoriasis is an immune-mediated skin disease where the IL-17 signaling pathway plays a crucial role in its development. Chronic circadian rhythm disorder in psoriasis pathogenesis is gaining more attention. The relationship between IL and 17 signaling pathway and skin clock genes remains poorly understood. METHODS GSE121212 with psoriatic lesion and healthy controls was used as the exploration cohort for searching analysis. Datasets GSE54456, GSE13355, GSE14905, GSE117239, GSE51440, and GSE137218 were applied to validation analysis. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) dataset GSE173706 was used to explore the F3 expression and related pathway activities in single-cell levels. Through intersecting with high-expression DEGs, F3 was selected as the signature skin circadian gene in psoriasis for further investigation. Functional analyses, including correlation analyses, prediction of transcription factors, protein-protein interaction, and single gene GSEA to explore the potential roles of F3. ssGSEA algorithm was performed to uncover the immune-related characteristics of psoriasis. We further explored F3 expression in the specific cell population in scRNA-seq dataset, besides this, AUCell analysis was performed to explore the pathway activities and the results were further compared between the specific cell cluster. Immunohistochemistry experiment, RT-qPCR was used to validate the location and expression of F3, small interfering RNA (siRNA) transfection experiment in HaCaT, and transcriptome sequencing analysis were applied to explore the potential function of F3. RESULTS F3 was significantly down-regulated in psoriasis and interacted with IL-17 signaling pathway. Low expression of F3 could upregulate the receptor of JAK-STAT signaling, thereby promoting keratinocyte inflammation. CONCLUSION Our research revealed a bidirectional link between the skin circadian gene F3 and the IL-17 signaling pathway in psoriasis, suggesting that F3 may interact with the IL-17 pathway by activating JAK-STAT within keratinocytes and inducing abnormal intracellular inflammation.

Abstract
Background Many observational studies have identified a link between unsaturated fatty acids and psoriasis. However, they contain reverse causality and confounding factors, and there is no definite causal study between unsaturated fatty acids and psoriasis. Objectives Analysis of causality between unsaturated fatty acids and psoriasis by Mendelian randomization. Methods We used IEU Open GWAS Project, omega-3 PUFA and omega-6 PUFA data from 114,999 subjects, MUFA data from 13,535 subjects, and psoriasis data from 4,510 cases and 212,242 controls were included. We employed the inverse-variance weighted (IVW) method as the primary analytical approach and four additional MR methods. Moreover, we performed heterogeneity and horizontal pleiotropy assessments using Cochrane's Q and MR-Egger intercept tests, respectively. Finally, we performed sensitivity analyses to enhance our findings' precision and veracity. Results IVW results showed no causal effect of omega-3 PUFA on psoriasis (p = 0.334; OR, 0.909; 95% CI, 0.748-1.104), omega-6 PUFA cause psoriasis (p = 0.046; OR, 1.174; 95% CI, 1.003-1.374), MUFA cause psoriasis (p = 0.032; OR, 1.218; 95% CI, 1.018-1.457), no causal effect of omega-3 PUFA in psoriasis (p = 0.695; OR, 0.989; 95% CI, 0.937-1.044), no causal effect of omega-6 PUFA in psoriasis (p = 0.643; OR, 1.013; 95% CI, 0.960-1.068), psoriasis is not causal to MUFA (p = 0.986; OR, 1.000; 95% CI, 0.949-1.055). Heterogeneity, horizontal pleiotropy, and sensitivity analyses showed reliable results. Conclusion We found that circulating omega-6 PUFA and MUFA cause psoriasis, while omega-3 PUFA do not. Treatments that lower circulating omega-6 PUFA and MUFA are effective in psoriasis. After a better understanding of fatty acid intake and circulation, the population can be advised to regulate their diet.

Abstract
In recent years, an increasing number of observational studies have revealed an association between gut microbiota composition and psoriasis patients. However, whether this association reflects a causal relationship remains unclear. This study aimed to identify the causal relationship between gut microbiota and psoriasis through relevant research. In order to determine whether gut microbiota and psoriasis are causally related, we conducted a Mendelian randomization analysis using summary statistics from genome-wide association studies (GWAS). As the exposure factor, we used summary statistics data from a GWAS study conducted by the MiBioGen Consortium, including 18,340 individuals with whole-genome gut microbiota composition, and data from the FinnGen GWAS study on psoriasis, including 9267 patients and 364,071 controls as the disease outcome. Two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis was subsequently performed with inverse variance weighted, MR-Egger and weighted median, while sensitivity analyses were conducted to address heterogeneity and horizontal pleiotropy. The IVW results confirmed the causal relationship between certain gut microbiota groups and psoriasis. Specifically, family Veillonellaceae (OR = 1.162, 95% CI: 1.038-1.301, p = 0.009), genus Candidatus Soleaferrea (OR = 1.123, 95% CI: 1.011-1.247, p = 0.030) and genus Eubacterium fissicatena group (OR = 0.831, 95% CI: 0.755-0.915, p = 0.00016) showed significant associations. Sensitivity analysis did not reveal any abnormalities in SNPs. Currently, we have found some causal relationship between the gut microbiota and psoriasis. However, the study needs further RCTs for further validation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The impact of polysocial risk score (PsRS), a composite measure of multiple social risk factors, on the development of psoriasis remains unclear. Moreover, the potential modifying effects of lifestyle and genetic susceptibility on the relationship between PsRS and psoriasis risk require further exploration. STUDY DESIGN This was a prospective cohort study conducted among UK Biobank. METHODS In this study, we analyzed 331,631 participants enrolled in the UK Biobank cohort. To derive the PsRS, we utilized a summative strategy, amalgamating six social determinants of health derived from three domains: socio-economic status, psychosocial factors, and neighborhood and living environment consistently linked to incident psoriasis. Cox proportional hazard models were used to assess the associations between PsRS and psoriasis incidence. Furthermore, we constructed a lifestyle score and a genetic risk score to explore the potential modifying effects of these factors on the relationship between PsRS and psoriasis risk. RESULTS Compared with individuals with a low PsRS (≤1), those with intermediate PsRS (2-4) and high PsRS (≥5) had 1.20 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.06-1.36) and 1.53 (95% CI, 1.31-1.78) times higher risks of developing psoriasis, respectively. Our findings revealed an additive interaction between PsRS and genetic susceptibility. Moreover, it was found that individuals with high PsRS and unhealthier lifestyles had a 2.60 times higher risk of developing psoriasis than those with lower PsRS and healthier ones. CONCLUSIONS Our study results imply that an elevated PsRS is linked to a heightened risk of psoriasis, which is further influenced by genetic factors. Our results also indicate that greater social vulnerability and unhealthier lifestyle may synergistically contribute to the additional risk of psoriasis.

Abstract
Lifestyle health has been recognized as an evidence-based innovation that defines how everyday behaviors and routines influence the avoidance and therapy of illness and provides an important adjunctive component to overall health. Specifically, an approach with small changes over time can have a dramatic impact on the health and well-being of individuals not only, in general, but also can be applied to skin health. However, lifestyle health factors to improve skin well-being have not been discussed extensively and/or well promulgated. The narrative for this overview focuses on providing a summary for topic background information, but more importantly, presents four lifestyle factors that can improve dermal health [i.e., factor 1: nutrition—diet; factor 2: rest (sleep); factor 3: movement/physical exercise, and factor 4: social and community associations]. This was accomplished by identifying preceding journal reports/reviews covering especially the last five years (January 2018 to July 2023; 164 out of 205 references cited or 80%) using scientific search databases. The main conclusions of this overview encourage the concept that lifestyle health factors such as nutrition/diet, rest/sleep, movement/physical exercise, and community/social interactions support enhanced skin health and well-being with aging. Plus, social media interventions that aim to promote dietary, sleep and physical activity changes might be an application to improve skin health in the future.

Abstract
The aim of the present study was to investigate the influence of stimulating food (SF), a Traditional Chinese Medicine term for a high protein, high fat diet, on psoriasis exacerbation. It was hypothesized that SF disposed psoriasis-like aggravation might be related to inflammatory pathways induction via gut dysbiosis. In the present study, mice were fed either an SF or normal diet for 4 weeks. In the last week, their back hair was removed to establish psoriasis-like dermatitis by imiquimod. After sacrifice, blood samples, alimentary tissues and skin lesions were collected and tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, western blotting, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence. Compared with normal diet groups, body weight and blood glucose of SF diet mice were not increased, but they exhibited higher modified Psoriasis Area and Severity Index scores and corresponding epithelial hyperproliferation. Unexpectedly, skin lesions showed abnormal lower protein expressions of Notch and TLR-2/NF-κB p65 signaling pathway, which was attributable to severe skin damage. No difference was observed in the structure and inflammatory cell infiltration of the gut between groups. Instead, macrophage polarization (M1/M2) in the gut of the SF diet group marked by high expression of CD11b (a marker of macrophage, M1) and mild low expression of MRC1 (a marker of macrophage, M2), which resulted in increased TNF-α, decreased IL-10, IL-35, and unchanged IL-17 in serum. Furthermore, serum derived from SF diet mice promoted translocation of NF-κB p65 in HaCaT cells, which indirectly suggested a systemic inflammation. These results suggested that mice fed a continuous SF diet for a time could change gut macrophage polarization, which secretes proinflammatory cytokines into blood circulation. Once transported to skin lesions, these cytokines activate psoriasis tissue resident immune cells and present as psoriasis exacerbation.

A Dietary Oxysterol, 7-Ketocholesterol, Exacerbates Imiquimod-Induced Psoriasis-like Dermatitis in Steatohepatitic Mice. Int J Mol Sci 2022; 23:ijms232415855. Abstract
Patients with psoriasis are at a higher risk of developing nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. We previously identified an oxidized derivative of cholesterol, 7-ketocholesterol (7KC), in diet-induced steatohepatitic mice. Here, we investigated whether 7KC exacerbates psoriasis-like dermatitis by accelerating steatohepatitis in mice. A high-fat/high-cholesterol/high-sucrose/bile salt diet (nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) diet) with or without 0.0125% 7KC was fed to C57BL/6 mice (7KC or control group) for three weeks to induce steatohepatitis. A 5% imiquimod cream was then applied to the ears and dorsal skin for four days to induce psoriasis-like dermatitis. Hepatic lipid accumulation and inflammatory cell infiltration were exacerbated in the 7KC group compared with the control group after three weeks. Serum tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) levels were also elevated in the 7KC group (108.5 ± 9.8 vs. 83.1 ± 13.1 pg/mL, p < 0.005). Imiquimod cream increased the psoriasis area severity index (PASI) score in mice in the 7KC group (9.14 ± 0.75 vs. 5.17 ± 1.17, p < 0.0001). Additionally, Tnfa, Il23a, Il17a, and Il22 mRNA levels in the dorsal lesion were significantly upregulated. Finally, Th17 cell differentiation and the TNF signaling pathway were enhanced in the dorsal lesions and liver of mice in the 7KC group. These data suggest that steatohepatitis and psoriasis are linked by a potent, diet-related factor.

Abstract
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that features localized or widespread erythema, papules, and scaling. It is common worldwide and may be distributed throughout the whole body. The pathogenesis of psoriasis is quite complex and the result of the interplay of genetic, environmental and immune factors. Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent programmed death that is different from cell senescence, apoptosis, pyroptosis and other forms of cell death. Ferroptosis involves three core metabolites, iron, lipids, and reactive oxygen species (ROS), and it is primarily driven by lipid peroxidation. Ferrostatin-1 (Fer-1) is an effective inhibitor of lipid peroxidation that inhibited the changes related to ferroptosis in erastin-treated keratinocytes and blocked inflammatory responses. Therefore, it has a certain effect on the treatment of psoriatic lesions. Although ferroptosis is closely associated with a variety of human diseases, such as inflammatory diseases, no review has focused on ferroptosis in psoriasis. This mini review primarily focused on the pathogenesis of psoriasis, the mechanisms of ferroptosis, the connection between ferroptosis and psoriasis and ferroptosis inhibitors in psoriasis treatment. We discussed recent research advances and perspectives on the relationship between ferroptosis and psoriasis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Whether the lifestyle is associated with the risk of psoriasis in the presence of different genetic risk levels remains unknown. OBJECTIVE To examine the gene-behavior interaction in association with incident psoriasis. METHODS This study is based on the data from the UK Biobank, which recruited 500,000 participants. Genetic risk was categorized into low, intermediate, and high groups. The lifestyle score comprised the body mass index, smoking, physical activity, and diet and was also categorized into the ideal, intermediate, and poor groups. Within each genetic risk group, the risks of incident psoriasis associated with each lifestyle level were investigated and compared with the low genetic risk and ideal lifestyle group. RESULTS Compared with the low genetic risk and ideal lifestyle group, the poor lifestyle and high genetic risk group was associated with a hazard ratio of up to 4.625 (95% confidence interval [CI], 2.920-7.348) for psoriasis. There was no interaction between genetic risk and lifestyle. The population attributable fractions of lifestyle and genetic risk were 32.2% (95% CI, 25.1%-38.6%) and 13.0% (95% CI, 3.2%-21.8%), respectively. LIMITATIONS No verification in other independently ascertained populations. CONCLUSION Lifestyle factors are predictive of the risk of incident psoriasis independent of genetic risk, and the relative impact of lifestyle factors was greater than that of genetic risk.

Abstract
Obesity is a major public health issue worldwide since it is associated with the development of chronic comorbidities such as type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemias, atherosclerosis, some cancer forms and skin diseases, including psoriasis. Scientific evidence has indicated that the possible link between obesity and psoriasis may be multifactorial, highlighting dietary habits, lifestyle, certain genetic factors and the microbiome as leading factors in the progress of both pathologies because they are associated with a chronic pro-inflammatory state. Thus, inflammation management in obesity is a plausible target for psoriasis, not only because of the sick adipose tissue secretome profile but also due to the relationship of obesity with the rest of the immune derangements associated with psoriasis initiation and maintenance. Hence, this review will provide a general and molecular overview of the relationship between both pathologies and present recent therapeutic advances in treating this problem.

Abstract
Extrinsic environmental factors, including patient lifestyle (alcohol intake, smoking, stress, sleep disturbances, and sedentary habit), diet and single nutrients intake may affect psoriasis clinical presentation, severity, and course. All English language articles dealing with psoriasis and lifestyle factors or diet gathered by an extensive PubMed search were carefully examined in order to explore their impact on the disease. Current authoritative knowledge confirms that low‐calories, Mediterranean, and protein restricted/vegetarian diets may be beneficial. Psoriatic patients are also recommended to engage regular physical activity, to avoid alcohol intake and to consume fish rich in omega‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, as well as fruit and vegetables. Prebiotics and probiotics may also provide potential benefit, whereas vitamin D supplementation and gluten‐free diet are useful in selected cases only. Changing of dietary and lifestyle habits alone does not replace conventional treatment, but must be considered as an adjuvant. Physicians may play a crucial role, by adequately acknowledging psoriatic patients on the advantages of proper lifestyle and diet habits as well as providing clues to reliable sources of dietary advice.

Abstract
Psoriasis is one of the most common chronic inflammatory skin diseases, constituting a significant health and socioeconomic problem. Despite numerous therapeutic options, the results of treatment often remain insufficient. This may be due to the lack of compliance with medical prescriptions and patients’ limited knowledge of their disease. Psoriatic patient's skin well-being is affected by many factors, including lifestyle. The course of the disease is affected by obesity, improper diet, and stimulants. Often these factors coexist. Excessive weight gain in psoriasis can be caused by a decrease in physical activity, caused by feelings of social stigma, coexistence of psoriatic arthritis, depression, and increased alcohol consumption. Several studies have confirmed that the average fat, protein, and calorie content in the diet of a patient with psoriasis are above the recommended norms. On the other hand, adhering to a low calorie, reducing diet results in a clinically significant improvement in the Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI) and patients’ quality of life (i.e., reduction of Dermatology Life Quality Index [DLQI]). Weight reduction caused by diet and exercise reduces the severity of skin lesions, even in people who have not achieved improvement after general treatment. Therefore, it is important to educate the patient about the nature of the disease at the very beginning of treatment. Patients with moderate to severe forms of the disease are predisposed to the development of cardiovascular diseases, obesity, diabetes, and anxiety. That is why plaque psoriasis requires a comprehensive treatment and a holistic approach to the patient.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The relationship between platelet-associated parameters and psoriasis has been controversial. The purpose of our meta-analysis was to assess whether platelet count, platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), mean platelet volume (MPV), and platelet distribution width (PDW) are associated with psoriasis. METHODS We performed a thorough documentation retrieval via PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science until June 2021. Pooled standardized mean differences (SMDs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using a random-effects model. RESULTS Overall, 22 studies involving 1749 patients with psoriasis and 1538 healthy controls were selected for the meta-analysis. The outcomes showed that platelet count presented non-significant differences between psoriatic patients and normal individuals (SMD = 0.12, 95% CI = -0.07 to 0.32, P = .210), while PLR (SMD = 0.28, 95% CI = 0.03-0.53, P = .031), MPV (SMD = 0.55, 95% CI = 0.30-0.79, P < .001), and PDW (SMD = 0.29, 95% CI = 0.03-0.55, P = .027) were remarkably greater in the psoriatic patients than in the healthy individuals, and similar results were found in subgroup analyses. The analytical results of susceptibility revealed that the outcomes were robust, and no evidence of substantial publication bias was identified. CONCLUSION Patients with psoriasis present significantly higher PLR, MPV, and PDW than healthy individuals, suggesting that psoriasis is accompanied by low-grade systemic inflammation and platelet activation.

Abstract
Psoriasis is a systemic immune-mediated inflammatory disease characterized by uncontrolled keratinocyte proliferation and poor differentiation. Cinnamaldehyde (CIN) has been shown to inhibit the proliferation and inflammatory response of primary and immortalized immune cells. However, to the best of our knowledge, the role of CIN in the progression of psoriasis remains unclear. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the biological role of CIN in psoriasis. To mimic abnormal proliferation and differentiation in keratinocytes in vitro, normal human epidermal keratinocytes (NHEKs) were stimulated with M5 (IL-1α, IL-17A, IL-22, oncostatin M and TNF-α). The viability and proliferation of NHEKs were analyzed using Cell Counting Kit-8 and 5-Ethynyl-2′-deoxyuridine assays, respectively. Western blotting was used to analyze the expression levels of keratin 1, filaggrin and loricrin in NHEKs. The results of the present study revealed that CIN significantly inhibited the proliferation and cell cycle progression, and promoted the differentiation of M5-stimulated NHEKs. CIN also markedly attenuated the extent of oxidative stress-induced damage in M5-stimulated NHEKs. Moreover, CIN ameliorated M5-induced inflammatory injury in NHEKs, as evidenced by the decreased levels of multiple inflammatory factors. Furthermore, CIN notably downregulated the expression levels of phosphorylated (p)-inhibitor of NF-κB, p-p65 and p-JNK in M5-stimulated NHEKs. In conclusion, the present data suggested that CIN may protect NHEKs against M5-induced hyperproliferation and inflammatory injury via inhibition of NF-κB and JNK signaling pathways. These results provide a novel insight on the role of CIN in psoriasis.

Abstract
Objectives The purpose of our study was to compare healthy lifestyle behaviors between psoriasis patients and healthy controls. Methods This case-control study included 80 psoriasis patients and 80 sex- and age- matched healthy controls aged over 18. Participants completed the socio-demographic data form and the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile II (HPLP-II). The HPLP-II consists of 52 items and measures six components of health-promoting behavior outcomes: Nutrition, physical activity, health responsibility, spiritual growth, interpersonal relations, and stress management. Higher scores show that the individual applies the specified health behaviors at a high level. Results HPLP-II total scores were 128.3±21.1 in patient group and 132.5±22.3 in control group. Based on the scores, psoriasis patients showed a moderate level of health-promoting lifestyle, while controls showed a good level of health-promoting lifestyle. Spiritual growth score of patients (mean±SD = 25.6±4.9) was statistically lower than the controls (mean±SD = 27.3±4.5) (p=0.040). In addition, spiritual growth score and disease duration were negatively correlated in the patient group (r=-0.287, p=0.01). Furthermore, nutrition score of those with additional comorbidity was significantly higher than those with psoriasis alone in patient group (p=0.002). Conclusion This is the first study to compare healthy lifestyle behaviors of psoriasis patients and healthy volunteers in Turkish population. The task of dermatologists is not only the medical treatment of psoriasis lesions but also questioning patients' lifestyle behaviors and supporting the development of healthy behaviors in patients.

Abstract
The problem of suboptimal treatment adherence among patients with dermatologic or other diseases has not been adequately addressed in health care. Despite a wide range of efficacious therapies, nonadherence remains a primary driver of suboptimal clinical outcomes. Novel solutions to address this unmet need can be found in behavioral economics. By leveraging our understanding of human decision-making, we may better promote treatment adherence, thereby improving quality of life and decreasing economic burdens. Behavioral economics has been studied extensively in relation to topics such as health policy and health behaviors; however, there is a dearth of research applying this approach to chronic diseases and only a handful within dermatology. We conducted a scoping review in PubMed to identify articles that discuss behavioral economics and its application to treatment adherence in dermatologic patients, with a particular focus on psoriasis, followed by a summary of key ethical considerations. We found that such principles can be employed in cost-effective, scalable interventions that improve patient adherence to a range of medical therapies and lifestyle modifications.

Abstract
Psoriasis, an incurable autoimmune skin disease, is one of the most common immune-mediated disorders. Presently, numerous clinical research studies are underway, and treatment options are available. However, these treatments focus on improving symptoms of the disease and fail to achieve a radical cure; they also have certain toxic side effects. In recent years, natural products have increasingly gained attention because of their high efficiency and low toxicity. Despite their obvious therapeutic effects, natural products’ biological activity was limited by their instability, poor solubility, and low bioavailability. Novel drug delivery systems, including liposomes, lipospheres, nanostructured lipid carriers, niosomes, nanoemulsions, nanospheres, microneedles, ethosomes, nanocrystals, and foams could potentially overcome the limitations of poor water solubility and permeability in traditional drug delivery systems. Thus, to achieve a therapeutic effect, the drug can reach the epidermis and dermis in psoriatic lesions to interact with the immune cells and cytokines.

Abstract
Introduction Psoriasis is a chronic disease. Research shows the emergence of harmful habits such as cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption in people with psoriasis. Aim The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of habits, cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption in patients with psoriasis, sexual distribution, and the relationship of habits with the severity of the disease. Methods The prospective study included 129 subjects with psoriasis, of which 67 or 51,94% were women and 62 or 48,06% were men. Results The frequency of cigarette smoking was 41,09%, alcohol consumption 24,80%. The gender distribution of cigarette smoking was: 35,82% of women and 46,77% of men smoked cigarettes. The gender distribution of alcohol consumption is: women 5,97% and men 45,16%. The severity of psoriasis, that is PASI score and cigarette smoking were statistically significantly related (r=0,63), and PASI score and alcohol consumption were not statistically significantly related (r=0,32). Conclusion Cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption are present in psoriasis sufferers, cigarette smoking is associated with disease severity, and alcohol consumption is not. It takes knowledge of the habits of people with psoriasis and a multidisciplinary approach to get rid of harmful habits.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease with systemic repercussions and an association with comorbidities such as metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular diseases, and obesity. Psoriasis patients have a higher prevalence of obesity compared to the general population. Diet is a relevant environmental factor, since malnutrition, inadequate body weight, and metabolic diseases, in addition to the direct health risk, impair the treatment of psoriasis. OBJECTIVES To evaluate food intake patterns, anthropometric, and metabolic syndrome-related aspects in psoriasis patients. METHODS Cross-sectional study through anthropometric assessment and food frequency questionnaire. Food frequency questionnaire items were evaluated by exploratory factor analysis and identified dietary patterns were analyzed by multivariate methods. RESULTS This study evaluated 94 patients, 57% female, with a mean age of 54.9 years; the prevalence of obesity was 48% and of metabolic syndrome, 50%. Factor analysis of the food frequency questionnaire identified two dietary patterns: Pattern 1 - predominance of processed foods; Pattern 2 - predominance of fresh foods. Multivariate analysis revealed that Patterns 1 and 2 showed inverse behaviors, and greater adherence to Pattern 2 was associated with females, eutrophic individuals, absence of lipid and blood pressure alterations, and lower waist-to-hip ratio and skin disease activity. STUDY LIMITATIONS Monocentric study conducted at a public institution, dependent on dietary memory. CONCLUSION Two dietary patterns were identified in a Brazilian sample of psoriasis patients. The prevalence of obesity and metabolic syndrome were greater than in the adult Brazilian population. The fresh diet was associated with lower indicators of metabolic syndrome in this sample.

Abstract
Omega-3 (ω-3) and omega-6 (ω-6) polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are nowadays desirable components of oils with special dietary and functional properties. Their therapeutic and health-promoting effects have already been established in various chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases through various mechanisms, including modifications in cell membrane lipid composition, gene expression, cellular metabolism, and signal transduction. The application of ω-3 and ω-6 PUFAs in most common skin diseases has been examined in numerous studies, but their results and conclusions were mostly opposing and inconclusive. It seems that combined ω-6, gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), and ω-3 long-chain PUFAs supplementation exhibits the highest potential in diminishing inflammatory processes, which could be beneficial for the management of inflammatory skin diseases, such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, and acne. Due to significant population and individually-based genetic variations that impact PUFAs metabolism and associated metabolites, gene expression, and subsequent inflammatory responses, at this point, we could not recommend strict dietary and supplementation strategies for disease prevention and treatment that will be appropriate for all. Well-balanced nutrition and additional anti-inflammatory PUFA-based supplementation should be encouraged in a targeted manner for individuals in need to provide better management of skin diseases but, most importantly, to maintain and improve overall skin health.
