Abstract
PURPOSE To assess the eligibility of patients with advanced or recurrent solid malignancies presented to a molecular tumor board (MTB) at a large precision oncology center for inclusion in trials with the endpoints objective response rate (ORR) or duration of response (DOR) based on Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST version 1.1). METHODS Prospective patients with available imaging at the time of presentation in the MTB were included. Imaging data was reviewed for objectifiable measurable disease (MD) according to RECIST v1.1. Additionally, we evaluated the patients with MD for representativeness of the identified measurable lesion(s) in relation to the overall tumor burden. RESULTS 262 patients with different solid malignancies were included. 177 patients (68%) had MD and 85 (32%) had non-measurable disease (NMD) at the time point of MTB presentation in accordance with RECIST v1.1. MD was not representative of the overall tumor burden in eleven patients (6%). The main reasons for NMD were lesions with longest diameter shorter than 10 mm (22%) and non-measurable peritoneal carcinomatosis (18%). Colorectal cancer and malignant melanoma displayed the highest rates of MD (> 75%). In contrast, gastric cancer, head and neck malignancies, and ovarian carcinoma had the lowest rates of MD (< 55%). In case of MD, the measurable lesions were representative of the overall tumor burden in the vast majority of cases (94%). CONCLUSION Approximately one third of cancer patients with advanced solid malignancies are not eligible for treatment response assessment in trials with endpoints ORR or DOR at the time of MTB presentation. The rate of patients eligible for trials with imaging endpoints differs significantly based on the underlying malignancy and should be taken under consideration during the planning of new precision oncology trials.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In the rapidly evolving field of nuclear medicine, the paramount importance of radiation protection, safety, and quality systems cannot be overstated. This document provides a comprehensive analysis of the intricate regulatory frameworks and guidelines, meticulously crafted and updated by national and international regulatory bodies to ensure the utmost safety and efficiency in the practice of nuclear medicine. Abstract
ABSTRACT Diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer are complex and very challenging, being a major health care burden. The efficacy of radioligand therapy with prostate-specific membrane antigen agents has been proven beneficial in certain clinical indications. In this review, we describe management of prostate cancer patients according to current guidelines, especially focusing on the available clinical evidence for prostate-specific membrane antigen radioligand therapy.

Abstract
Biochemical recurrence (BCR) occurs in 20-50% of patients with prostate cancer (PCa) undergoing primary definitive treatment. Patients with high-risk BCR have an increased risk of metastatic progression and subsequent PCa-specific mortality, and thus could benefit from treatment intensification. Given the increasing complexity of diagnostic and therapeutic modalities, multidisciplinary care (MDC) can play a crucial role in the individualized management of this patient population. This review explores the role for MDC when evaluating the clinical evidence for the evolving definition of high-risk BCR and the emerging therapeutic strategies, especially with novel hormone therapies (NHTs), for patients with either high-risk BCR or oligometastatic PCa. Clinical studies have used different characteristics to define high-risk BCR and there is no consensus regarding the definition of high-risk BCR nor for management strategies. Next-generation imaging and multigene panels offer potential enhanced patient identification and precision-based decision-making, respectively. Treatment intensification with NHTs, either alone or combined with radiotherapy or metastasis-directed therapy, has been promising in clinical trials in patients with high-risk BCR or oligometastases. As novel risk-stratification and treatment options as well as evidence-based literature evolve, it is important to involve a multidisciplinary team to identify patients with high-risk features at an earlier stage, and make informed decisions on the treatments that could optimize their care and long-term outcomes. Nevertheless, MDC data are scarce in the BCR or oligometastatic setting. Efforts to integrate MDC into the standard management of this patient population are needed, and will likely improve outcomes across this heterogeneous PCa patient population.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Prostate cancer is the second-most prevalent cancer diagnosis worldwide among males. Although prostate cancer affects the physical, sexual, and mental health of patients, the impact of prostate cancer on partners has also been increasingly recognized. Hence, taking a dyadic approach is of relevance. Moreover, there is evidence of the utility of dyadic approaches to the study of relational stress that chronic diseases such as prostate cancer can bring to couples, even though knowledge is sparse about prostate cancer. OBJECTIVES This scoping review aimed to map existing dyadic studies on the psychosocial adaptation of couples to prostate cancer. METHODS A systematic search of studies published from 2005 to November 2022 was conducted on electronic databases (PubMed, Cochrane Library, EBSCOHost, Scopus, and Web of Science) following PRISMA-ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses-Extension for Scoping Reviews). RESULTS The review included 25 eligible studies from the initial 2514 articles retrieved. Overall, the results emphasized the interdependency between couple members and suggested how partners' adaptation influences patients' adaptation to prostate cancer and vice versa, regarding several psychosocial dimensions (eg, intimacy, quality of life). CONCLUSIONS This work can bring awareness to health care professionals to adopt a couples approach when managing prostate cancer whenever there is a partner, due to these interdependent influences. For researchers and future studies, this work can strengthen the relevance of dyadic approaches on how couples adapt to prostate cancer and explore which other dimensions influence these complex dynamics.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second-most frequently diagnosed oncologic condition among biological men, affecting physical and psychological well-being, as well as sexual health and quality of life. Prior research has shown that cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) can be effective in addressing a range of psychological and sexual problems but also in improving the sexual and mental health of survivors of PCa. OBJECTIVES This systematic review aimed to methodically research and summarize results concerning the efficacy of CBT in the mental and sexual health of survivors of PCa. METHODS A systematic search was carried out via electronic databases until August 2022 (EBSCO, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science). By combining specific search words and following the PRISMA checklist, we identified 15 eligible articles among 8616 initial records. RESULTS Four studies showed evidence of intervention efficacy for the improvement of sexual health, specifically for overall sexual function, erectile function, sexual desire, and sexual satisfaction. Eight studies found intervention efficacy for the improvement of mental health dimensions, such as psychological distress, depressive symptoms, anxiety, and quality of life. CONCLUSION There is evidence that CBT interventions have the potential to effectively promote mental and sexual health in survivors of PCa, but further research comprising larger and more diverse populations is needed. Future studies should focus on understanding mechanisms of change through CBT interventions to ensure the mental and sexual health of survivors of PCa.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The prostate-specific antigen (PSA) has been widely used in screening and early diagnosis of prostate cancer (PCa). However, in the PSA grey zone of 4-10 ng/ml, the sensitivity and specificity for diagnosing PCa are limited, resulting in considerable number of unnecessary and invasive prostate biopsies, which may lead to potential overdiagnosis and overtreatment. We aimed to predict clinically significant PCa (CSPCa) by combining the maximal standardized uptake value (SUVmax) based on 68Ga‑PSMA PET/CT and clinical indicators in men with gray zone PSA levels. METHODS 81 patients with suspected PCa based on increased serum total PSA (TPSA) levels of 4 - 10 ng/mL who underwent transrectal ultrasound/magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)/PET fusion-guided biopsy were enrolled. Among them, patients confirmed by histopathology were divided into the CSPCa group and the non-CSPCa group, and data on PSA concentration, prostate volume (PV), PSA density (PSAD), free PSA (FPSA)/TPSA, Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System version 2.1 (PI-RADS v2.1) score, 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT imaging evaluation results and SUVmax were compared. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to identify the independent predictors for CSPCa, thereby establishing a predictive model based on SUVmax that was evaluated by analyzing the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and decision curve analysis. RESULTS Compared to non-CSPCa, CSPCa patients had smaller PVs (median, 31.40 mL), lower FPSA/TPSA (median, 0.12), larger PSADs (median, 0.21 ng/mL2) and higher PI-RADS scores (P < 0.05). The prediction model comprising 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT maximal standardized uptake value, PV and FPSA/TPSA had the highest AUC of 0.927 compared with that of other predictors alone (AUCs of 0.585 for PSA, 0.652 for mpMRI and 0.850 for 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT). The diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of the prediction model were 86.21% and 86.54%, respectively. CONCLUSION Given the low diagnostic accuracy of regular PSA tests, a new prediction model based on the 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT SUVmax, PV and FPSA/TPSA was developed and validated, and this model could provide a more satisfactory predictive accuracy for CSPCa. This study provides a noninvasive prediction model with high accuracy for the diagnosis of CSPCa in the PSA gray zone, thus may be better avoiding unnecessary biopsy procedures.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTMs) provide an integrated team approach to ensure individualized and evidence-based treatment recommendations and best expert advice in cancer care. A growing number of patients and more complex treatment options challenge MDTM resources and evoke needs for case prioritization. In this process, decision aids could provide streamlining and standardize evaluation of case complexity. We applied the recently developed Measure of Case Discussion Complexity, MeDiC, instrument with the aim to validate its performance in another healthcare setting and diagnostic area as a means to provide cases for full MDTM discussions. METHODS The 26-item MeDiC instrument evaluates case complexity and was applied to 364 men with newly diagnosed prostate cancer in Sweden. MeDiC scores were generated from individual-level health data and were correlated with clinicopathological parameters, healthcare setting, and the observed clinical case selection for MDTMs. RESULTS Application of the MeDiC instrument was feasible with rapid scoring based on available clinical data. Patients with high-risk prostate cancers had significantly higher MeDiC scores than patients with low or intermediate-risk cancers. In the total study, population affected lymph nodes and metastatic disease significantly influenced MDTM referral, whereas comorbidities and age did not predict MDTM referral. When individual patient MeDiC scores were compared to the clinical MDTM case selection, advanced stage, T3/T4 tumors, involved lymph nodes, presence of metastases and significant physical comorbidity were identified as key MDTM predictive factors. CONCLUSIONS Application of the MeDiC instrument in prostate cancer may be used to streamline case selection for MDTMs in cancer care and may complement clinical case selection.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine the diagnostic accuracy of the hybrid tracer indocyanine green (ICG)-Technetium-99 m(99mTc)-nanocolloid compared to sequential tracers of 99mTc-nanocolloid and free-ICG in detecting tumor-positive lymph nodes (LN) during primary surgery in prostate cancer (PCa) patients. INTRODUCTION Image-guided surgery strategies can help visualize individual lymphatic drainage patterns and sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs) in PCa patients. For lymphatic mapping radioactive, fluorescent and hybrid tracers are being clinically exploited. In this prospective randomized phase II trial, we made a head-to-head comparison between ICG-99mTc-nanocolloid (hybrid group) and 99mTc-nanocolloid and subsequent free-ICG injection (sequential group). METHODS PCa patients with a >5% risk of lymphatic involvement according to the 2012 Briganti nomogram and planned for prostatectomy were included and randomized (1:1) between ultrasound-guided intraprostatic tracer administration of ICG-99mTc-nanocolloid (n = 69) or 99mTc-nanocolloid (n = 69) 5 h before surgery. Preoperative lymphoscintigraphy and SPECT/CT were performed to define the locations of the SLNs. Additionally, all participants in the sequential group received an injection of free-ICG at time of surgery. Subsequently, all (S)LNs were dissected using fluorescence guidance followed by an extended pelvic lymph node dissection (ePLND). The primary outcome was the total number of surgically removed (S)LNs and tumor-positive (S)LNs. RESULTS The total number of surgically removed (S)LN packages was 701 and 733 in the hybrid and sequential groups, respectively (p = 0.727). The total number of fluorescent LNs retrieved was 310 and 665 nodes in the hybrid and sequential groups, respectively (p < 0.001). However, no statistically significant difference was observed in the corresponding number of tumor-positive nodes among the groups (44 vs. 33; p = 0.470). Consequently, the rate of tumor-positive fluorescent LNs was higher in the hybrid group (7.4%) compared to the sequential group (2.6%; p = 0.002), indicating an enhanced positive predictive value for the hybrid approach. There was no difference in complications within 90 days after surgery (p = 0.78). CONCLUSIONS The hybrid tracer ICG-99mTc-nanocolloid improved the positive predictive value for tumor-bearing LNs while minimizing the number of fluorescent nodes compared to the sequential tracer approach. Consequently, the hybrid tracer ICG-99mTc-nanocolloid enables the most reliable and minimal invasive method for LN staging in PCa patients.

Abstract
Initial staging of patients diagnosed with multiple myeloma (MM) can lead to negative results using conventional diagnostic imaging workup, including [18F]Fluorodesoxiglucose ([18F]FDG) PET/CT. The aim of this prospective pilot study was to evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of [18F]Fluorocholine ([18F]FCH) PET/CT in the initial staging of MM patients who were candidates for autologous bone marrow transplant. Materials and Methods: The inclusion criteria of our study were: (a) patients diagnosed with MM; (b) candidates for autologous bone marrow transplant (AT); and (c) studied with [18F]FCH PET/CT and [18F]FDG PET/CT for initial staging less than 4 weeks apart. Imaging analysis included the presence of: bone marrow infiltration, focal bone lesions, and para-medullary or extra-medullary disease, according to the proposed IMPeTus criteria. The analysis was performed per lesion, per patient, and per location. Results: The study population included ten patients. Globally, [18F]FCH PET/CT showed bone marrow uptake in all the patients and visualised 16 more focal lesions than [18F]FDG PET/CT. One patient presented a plasmacytoma, detected by both tracers. Extra-medullary and para-medullary disease was identified with different degrees of uptake by both tracers. In summary, [18F]FCH PET seemed to be superior to [18F]FDG PET/CT in detecting focal bone lesions. SUVmax values were slightly higher in [18F]FCH PET/CT than in [18F]FDG PET/CT. Conclusions: Taking into account the small study population, according to our results, [18F]FCH PET/CT could be a useful tool for staging MM patients.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Integrating clinical and pathological data together with imaging-derived information, such as radiomics and sarcopenia status, creating new combined biomarkers that increase the prognostic value compared with each of them used independently. The concept of strength through synergy, applicable in so many areas of life, is also demonstrated in this area of science and opens up innumerable pathways for improving patient care in cancer. This is as an example on how we can explore and make the most of all the information we already have (clinical, pathological, imaging), without the need for new invasive tests.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Previous studies indicate that men experience frustration and uncertainty when confronted with an elevated prostate specific antigen (PSA) test and during further diagnostics for prostate cancer. The novel Stockholm3 test is an algorithm-based test that combines plasma protein biomarkers, genetic markers and clinical variables in predicting the risk of PCa. The test was introduced in a western part of Norway as a new tool for detecting prostate cancer. This study aimed to explore and compare men's perception of information and possible experience of distress between a PSA group and a Stockholm3 group during the diagnostic phase of prostate cancer. METHODS This study is a part of the trailing research evaluating the impact of the change from PSA to Stockholm3. It is a multicenter study using a comparative mixed method design. Data were collected in a PSA group (n = 130) and a Stockholm3 group (n = 120) between 2017 and 2019. Quantitative data were collected using questionnaires and qualitative data were collected using semi-structured interviews (n = 20). The quantitative and qualitative data were analysed and compared separately and then merged in a side-by-side discussion. The study adheres to the GRAMMS guidelines for reporting mixed-methods research. RESULTS Compared with the PSA group, men in the Stockholm3 group reported that the information from the general practitioners was better. Similarly, men in the Stockholm3 group were more likely to indicate that they had received sufficient information regarding how examinations would be conducted. No differences were found between the groups regarding waiting time and distress. Three themes emerged from the qualitative analysis of the two groups: "Information affects the experience of comprehension", "Stepping into the world of the healthcare system", and "Periodically feelings of distress". CONCLUSION The Stockholm3 test may facilitate the provision of information to patients. However, some patients in both groups experienced distress and would benefit from more information and additional support from healthcare professionals. Routines that ensure sufficient information from the interdisciplinary healthcare team should be of priority during the diagnostic phase of prostate cancer in order to provide patients with predictability and to avoid unnecessary distress.

Abstract
Objective. To compare the effects of different treatment strategies for metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC) using a network meta-analysis. Methods. English databases (PubMed, Embase, and medRxiv) and Chinese databases (Wanfang and CNKI) were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on the treatment of mHSPC from inception to June 1, 2021. The overall survival (OS) and failure-free survival (FFS) reported by the included studies were extracted from each study for network meta-analysis. Moreover, the priority ranks of the treatment methods were determined. Results. A total of 18 RCTs with 14,682 patients were included in this study. Androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT) + apalutamide (APA) showed the highest probability of improving the OS (96.2%) and FFS (68.0%). In addition, the patients were stratified into ten subgroups as follows: low/high tumor burden (CHAARTED criteria); Gleason score ≤7/≥8; Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) = 0/≥1; with/without prechemotherapy; and cooperative with/without concomitant radiotherapy. For the improvement of OS, the leading treatments were as follows: (1) ADT + enzalutamide (ENZA) (64.1%)/ADT + abiraterone acetate + prednisone (AAP) (54.3%); (2) ADT + ENZA (41.9%)/ADT + APA (39.2%); (3) ADT + ENZA (39.2%)/ADT + APA (32.1%); (4) ADT + radiotherapy (51%)/ADT + ENZA (76.7%); (5) ADT + AAP (51%)/ADT + AAP (60%). Conclusion. Three endocrine therapy drugs, abiraterone, enzalutamide, and APA, exhibited the best effects in improving the OS and FFS in all patients and subgroups; however, APA had the most prominent treatment effects. Therefore, ADT + APA should be applied as the common treatment for patients with HSPC based on objective and clinical conditions. Trial Registration. Abstract
ABSTRACT The search for new biomarkers in cancer is currently one of the most widely sought end points in medical imaging, with the aim of improving the management decisions based on reliable indicators of prognosis, being neuroendocrine neoplasms a challenging group of tumors under investigation. Multitracer PET/CT imaging, in which different radiotracers supply information of different metabolic aspects of the tumor, can help classify and select the most appropriate therapy, providing basic aspects that will probably allow the generation of new imaging biomarkers useful in patient management.

Abstract
Prostate cancer (PC) is the most common tumor in men in the West and the fifth leading cause of cancer-related death. The use of PSMA radioligands has represented an important advance both in its diagnosis, through PET molecular imaging, and in its treatment in advanced stages of the disease. This article reviews the contribution of PET studies with PSMA radioligands in initial staging, in tumor detection in biochemical recurrence (elevation of PSA) after treatment with curative intent, and in the more advanced stages of the disease (castration resistant PC or CRPC). The contribution of PSMA radioligand therapy (PSMA-RLT) in CRPC patients who progress to standard therapy is also analyzed.

Abstract
In the last years, extensive investigation on miRNomics have shown to have great advantages in cancer personalized medicine regarding diagnosis, treatment and even clinical outcomes. Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second most common male cancer and about 50% of all PCa patients received radiotherapy (RT), despite some of them develop radioresistance. Here, we aim to provide an overview on the mechanisms of miRNA biogenesis and to discuss the functional impact of miRNAs on PCa under radiation response. As main findings, 23 miRNAs were already identified as being involved in genetic regulation of PCa cell response to RT. The mechanisms of radioresistance are still poorly understood, despite it has been suggested that miRNAs play an important role in cell signaling pathways. Identification of miRNAs panel can be thus considered an upcoming and potentially useful strategy in PCa diagnosis, given that radioresistance biomarkers, in both prognosis and therapy still remains a challenge.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE 1.5 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging radiotherapy linear accelerator (MR-Linac) is gaining interest for treatment of localized prostate cancer. Clinical evidence is lacking and it therefore remains uncertain whether MR-Linac is cost-effective. An early health economic analysis was performed to calculate the necessary relative reduction in complications and the maximum price of MR-Linac (5 fractions) to be cost-effective compared to 5, 20 and 39 fractionation schedules of external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) and low-dose-rate (LDR) brachytherapy. MATERIALS AND METHODS A state transition model was developed for men with localized prostate cancer. Complication rates such as grade ≥2 urinary, grade ≥2 bowel and sexual complications, and utilities were based on systematic literature searches. Costs were estimated from a Dutch healthcare perspective. Threshold analyses were performed to identify the thresholds of complications and costs for MR-Linac to be cost-effective, while holding other outcomes such as biochemical progression and mortality constant. One-way sensitivity analyses were performed to outline uncertainty outcomes. RESULTS At €6460 per patient, no reductions in complications were needed to consider MR-Linac cost-effective compared to EBRT 20 and 39 fractions. Compared to EBRT 5 fractions and LDR brachytherapy, MR-Linac was found to be cost-effective when complications are relatively reduced by 54% and 66% respectively. Results are highly sensitive to the utilities of urinary, bowel and sexual complications and the probability of biochemical progression. CONCLUSIONS MR-Linac is found to be cost-effective compared to 20 and 39 fractions EBRT at baseline. For MR-Linac to become cost-effective over 5 fractions EBRT and LDR brachytherapy, it has to reduce complications substantially or be offered at lower costs.

Abstract
The rapidly expanding scenario of treatment options for patients affected by prostate cancer (PC) is leading to improved outcomes; however, PC still represents one of the most frequent causes of male mortality. Thus, while translational research is trying to unravel the molecular landscape underlying carcinogenesis, disease progression and treatment resistance, several clinical trials are evaluating novel options to further expand therapeutic options. The cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK)-pathway represents a promising therapeutic target for different cancer types; due to the pivotal role of this pathway in the regulation of PC cell cycle, three CDK4/6-inhibitors (abemaciclib, palbociclib and ribociclib) are currently being investigated in several clinical trials. In this paper, we review the current knowledge on CDK-pathway and the mechanism of action of CDK-inhibitors; we discuss the biological rationale for their use in PC and the state of the art of clinical trials focused on the demonstration of their potential role in early or advanced stage, in hormone-sensitive and castration-resistant state. Finally, the potential application of precision oncology for treatment selection in PC is discussed.

Abstract
This study aims to investigate the apoptotic and anti-angiogenic effect of Zoledronic acid on hormone-refractory prostate cancer cell lines. XTT cell proliferation assay used to assess cytotoxicity. Caspase 3/7 activity and DNA fragmentation were measured to verify apoptosis. Angiogenic cytokine profiles investigated using the human angiogenesis antibody array I. Administration of Zoledronic acid on PC-3 and DU-145 prostate cancer cell lines resulted in increased cytotoxicity and apoptosis with a time- and dose-related manner. Also, the administration of Zoledronic acid significantly reduced several angiogenic cytokine productions in PC-3 and DU-145 cell lines. Zoledronic acid successfully induced apoptosis and reduced various angiogenic cytokine production in hormone-refractory prostate cancer cell lines. Novel treatment protocols may be developed in the future with chemotherapeutic combinations for the treatment of prostate cancer.

Abstract
In this study, both diabetes and Dunning prostate cancer were induced for the first time in Copenhagen rats in vivo. Thus, the effects of metformin against heart tissue damage of these rats were investigated by biochemical methods. Dunning prostate cancer was induced in Copenhagen rats using high metastatic MAT-LyLu cells. The rats were divided as follows: Control group: only injected with 0.9% NaCl for 14 days; Diabetic group: only injected single dose of streptozotocin (STZ) (65 mg/kg); Cancer group: subcutaneously (s.c) inoculated with 2 x 104 MAT-LyLu cells only; Diabetic + cancer (DC) group: inoculated with 2 x 104 MAT-LyLu cells and STZ injection, Cancer + metformin (CM) group: injected with metformin for 14 days after Mat-LyLu cells application; Diabetic + cancer + metformin (DCM) group: metformin administered for 14 days together with STZ and Mat-LyLu cells. At the end of the experimental period, heart tissues were taken. Reduced glutathione and total antioxidant status levels in heart tissues were decreased, whereas lipid peroxidation, advanced oxidized protein products, nitric oxide, homocysteine, and reactive oxygen species levels, total oxidant status and catalase, superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase, glutathione-S-transferase, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, lactate dehydrogenase and xanthine oxidase activities increased in the diabetic, cancer and DC groups. Treatment with metformin reversed these effects. In conclusion, the present study shows that metformin has a protective effect against heart tissue damage in STZ-induced diabetic rats with Dunning prostate cancer.

Abstract
PURPOSE The early diagnosis of prostate cancer and subsequent access to the treatment options helps to achieve optimal cancer outcomes. As the treatment options for patients with advanced prostate cancer continues to evolve, patients need to access a multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting to receive best-practice care. METHODS In this paper a MEDLINE review was performed to assess clinical decision making in the context of MDT discussions for patients with advanced prostate cancer. RESULTS From 441 returned articles and abstracts, 50 articles were assessed for eligibility and 16 articles included for analysis. Sixteen articles were identified, 9 of the 16 articles used quantitative methodology including three retrospective analysis of clinical registry data, patient medical records and/or MDT meeting notes and three cross-sectional surveys. Other study designs included one observation study and one study using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methodologies and one mini-review. There were also four editorials included in the review and two consensus statements. CONCLUSION This paper highlights the important role the inter-disciplinary MDT has on shared decision making for men with advanced prostate cancer. The application of MDT care is a rapidly growing trend in uro-oncology and an efficient MDT service requires further research to assess its efficiency so that it may expand through all aspect of uro-oncology.
