Abstract
Emerging fMRI methods quantifying brain dynamics present an opportunity to capture how fluctuations in brain responses give rise to individual variations in affective and motivation states. Although the experience and regulation of affective states affect psychopathology, their underlying time-varying brain responses remain unclear. Here, we present a novel framework to identify network states matched to an affective experience and examine how the dynamic engagement of these network states contributes to this experience. We apply this framework to investigate network state dynamics underlying basal craving, an affective experience with important clinical implications. In a transdiagnostic sample of healthy controls and individuals diagnosed with or at risk for craving-related disorders (total N = 252), we utilized connectome-based predictive modeling (CPM) to identify brain networks predictive of basal craving. An edge-centric timeseries approach was leveraged to quantify the moment-to-moment engagement of the craving-positive and craving-negative subnetworks during independent scan runs. We found that dynamic markers of network engagement, namely more persistence in a craving-positive network state and less dwelling in a craving-negative network state, characterized individuals with higher craving. We replicated the latter results in a separate dataset, incorporating distinct participants (N = 173) and experimental stimuli. The associations between basal craving and network state dynamics were consistently observed even when craving-predictive networks were defined in the replication dataset. These robust findings suggest that network state dynamics underpin individual differences in basal craving. Our framework additionally presents a new avenue to explore how the moment-to-moment engagement of behaviorally meaningful network states supports our affective experiences.

Abstract
Previous research has indicated that various factors, such as psychological distress, distress intolerance, anhedonia, impulsivity and smoking metacognitions, have been individually linked to the urge to smoke, withdrawal symptoms and dependence. However, these factors have not been collectively examined to determine whether smoking metacognitions independently and significantly contribute to these outcomes. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the impact of distress intolerance, anhedonia, impulsivity and smoking metacognitions on the urge to smoke, withdrawal symptoms and dependency in men who are dependent on smoking. A total of 300 smoking-dependent men completed psychological scales and smoking-related measures. The findings of the study indicated that positive metacognitions about emotion regulation significantly predicted the urge to smoke, even when accounting for other significant predictors such as the number of daily cigarettes smoked, psychological distress, anhedonia and impulsivity. Furthermore, positive metacognitions about cognitive regulation were found to be a significant predictor of withdrawal symptoms, independent of other significant predictors such as psychological distress and the urge to smoke. Smoking dependence was predicted by negative metacognitions about uncontrollability beyond other significant predictors, including the number of daily cigarettes smoked and distress intolerance. These results highlight the role of metacognitions about smoking in both short- and long-term clinical outcomes related to smoking. Consequently, addressing such beliefs during treatment for smoking dependence should be an important therapeutic goal.

Abstract
Tobacco smoking is associated with deleterious health outcomes. Most smokers want to quit smoking, yet relapse rates are high. Understanding neural differences associated with tobacco use may help generate novel treatment options. Several animal studies have recently highlighted the central role of the thalamus in substance use disorders, but this research focus has been understudied in human smokers. Here, we investigated associations between structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging measures of the thalamus and its subnuclei to distinct smoking characteristics. We acquired anatomical scans of 32 smokers as well as functional resting-state scans before and after a cue-reactivity task. Thalamic functional connectivity was associated with craving and dependence severity, whereas the volume of the thalamus was associated with dependence severity only. Craving, which fluctuates rapidly, was best characterized by differences in brain function, whereas the rather persistent syndrome of dependence severity was associated with both brain structural differences and function. Our study supports the notion that functional versus structural measures tend to be associated with behavioural measures that evolve at faster versus slower temporal scales, respectively. It confirms the importance of the thalamus to understand mechanisms of addiction and highlights it as a potential target for brain-based interventions to support smoking cessation, such as brain stimulation and neurofeedback.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Cue-exposure therapy (CET) aims to extinguish conditioned cue reactivity (CR) to aid in smoking cessation. A key disadvantage of extant CET is its limited ability to generalize extinction to the real world. Our team developed a set of augmented reality smoking-related and neutral cues that can appear in real-time in smokers' natural environments as viewed through a smartphone screen. Prior to deployment as a clinical tool, the present study tested the ability of AR smoking cues to extinguish CR in a controlled laboratory study with an AR smartphone application developed for this project. We hypothesized that daily smokers who completed a single session of cue exposure with AR smoking cues (extinction condition) would demonstrate lower cue-provoked urge to smoke at posttest compared to those who viewed AR neutral cues (control condition). METHOD Daily smokers (N = 129, 46.5% female, Mage = 47.6, Mcigarettes/day = 19.1) in acute abstinence were randomized to either the extinction or control condition comprising 28 AR trials. RESULTS As hypothesized, we found a Time × Condition interaction indicating that posttest urge ratings were lower in the extinction condition than in the control condition (p = .034). A secondary hypothesis that participants in the extinction condition would show a longer latency to smoke when provided a cigarette was not supported. CONCLUSIONS These laboratory findings provide evidence supporting the potential clinical efficacy of AR cues for cue-exposure trials, setting the stage for testing in smokers' naturalistic environments. Abstract
BACKGROUND Although left frontal pole (LFP) repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has been recently investigated for the treatment of different substance use disorders, there is no current evidence that it can effectively influence craving or clinical outcomes in smokers. A single session of 1 Hz rTMS over LFP is proposed to explore short-term effects of this protocol in tobacco use disorder. METHODS A pilot randomized trial compared 1 Hz rTMS of the LFP (n = 12) and primary motor cortex (n = 12) in a high-craving, severe nicotine dependence population (9 females, 15 males). A cigarette cue-reactivity paradigm with smoking-related and neutral visual stimuli was used for primary outcome measures. Chronic craving, dependence severity, impulsivity and cognitive measures were also obtained. RESULTS Compared to baseline, LFP rTMS significantly reduced cue-reactivity to both smoking-related and neutral cue types, while no change occurred in the motor cortex group. Reactivity to affectively neutral pictures was significantly reduced in the LFP vs. motor cortex analysis. There was one robust correlation between verbal memory recall score and reduction of neutral cue-reactivity. CONCLUSIONS LFP 1 Hz rTMS significantly reduced cigarette cue-reactivity. Association of change in cue-reactivity with verbal memory performance suggests a relationship between craving experiences and declarative memory systems that seems relevant to rTMS effects.

Abstract
AIMS To examine the effect of alcohol cue exposure on tobacco-related cravings, self-administration and other measures of tobacco-related cue reactivity. METHODS We searched Medline, PsycINFO, Embase, CINAHL and Scopus from inception to May 2020 for articles reporting on a combination of cue reactivity (and/or cross-cue reactivity), alcohol use and tobacco consumption. A semi-quantitative analysis and study quality assessment were performed for the included articles. RESULTS A total of 37 articles met our inclusion criteria and were included in the systematic review. Most studies (60%) reported that alcohol cue exposure increased tobacco cravings, but only 18% of studies reported that alcohol cue exposure resulted in an increase in ad libitum smoking. There was also substantial heterogeneity between studies due to differences in methodology related to alcohol cue exposure, measures of tobacco cravings, as well as variable participant and study characteristics. CONCLUSIONS Alcohol cue exposure can increase cravings for tobacco. This has important implications for individuals who use both substances but are trying to quit one or both.

Abstract
Insula function is considered critical for many motivated behaviors, with proposed functions ranging from attention, behavioral control, emotional regulation, goal-directed and aversion-resistant responding. Further, the insula is implicated in many neuropsychiatric conditions including substance abuse. More recently, multiple insula subregions have been distinguished based on anatomy, connectivity, and functional contributions. Generally, posterior insula is thought to encode more somatosensory inputs, which integrate with limbic/emotional information in middle insula, that in turn integrate with cognitive processes in anterior insula. Together, these regions provide rapid interoceptive information about the current or predicted situation, facilitating autonomic recruitment and quick, flexible action. Here, we seek to create a robust foundation from which to understand potential subregion differences, and provide direction for future studies. We address subregion differences across humans and rodents, so that the latter's mechanistic interventions can best mesh with clinical relevance of human conditions. We first consider the insula's suggested roles in humans, then compare subregional studies, and finally describe rodent work. One primary goal is to encourage precision in describing insula subregions, since imprecision (e.g. including both posterior and anterior studies when describing insula work) does a disservice to a larger understanding of insula contributions. Additionally, we note that specific task details can greatly impact recruitment of various subregions, requiring care and nuance in design and interpretation of studies. Nonetheless, the central ethological importance of the insula makes continued research to uncover mechanistic, mood, and behavioral contributions of paramount importance and interest. Abstract
BACKGROUND Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dlPFC) may reduce substance use and other addictive behaviours. However, the cognitive mechanisms that underpin such effects remain unclear. Impaired inhibitory control linked to hypoactivation of the prefrontal cortex may allow craving-related motivations to lead to compulsive addictive behaviours. However, very few studies have examined whether increasing the activation of the dlPFC via anodal tDCS could enhance inhibitory control over addiction-related distractors. The current study aimed to enrich empirical evidence related to this issue. METHODS Thirty-three males with Internet gaming disorder underwent active (1.5 mA for 20 minutes) and sham tDCS 1 week apart, in randomized order. We assessed inhibitory control over gaming-related distractors and craving pre- and post-stimulation. RESULTS Relative to sham treatment, active tDCS reduced interference from gaming-related (versus non-gaming) distractors and attenuated background craving, but did not affect cue-induced craving. LIMITATIONS This study was limited by its relatively small sample size and the fact that it lacked assessments of tDCS effects on addictive behaviour. Future tDCS studies with multiple sessions in larger samples are warranted to examine the effects on addictive behaviours of alterations in addiction-related inhibitory control. CONCLUSION These findings demonstrate that stimulation of the dlPFC influences inhibitory control over addiction-related cues and addiction-related motivation. This is the first empirical study to suggest that enhanced inhibitory control may be a cognitive mechanism underlying the effects of tDCS on addictions like Internet gaming disorder. Our finding of attenuated background craving replicated previous tDCS studies. Intriguingly, our finding of distinct tDCS effects on 2 forms of craving suggests that they may have disparate underlying mechanisms or differential sensitivity to tDCS. Abstract
Individuals with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) smoke cigarettes at much higher prevalences than the general population. Less is known about PTSD and other smoking behaviors (e.g., smoking quantity and frequency) or about smoking among individuals who experience trauma. OBJECTIVE To examine differences in cigarette smoking behaviors among adults in the United States (a) with no exposure to trauma or PTSD, (b) with trauma but no PTSD, and (c) with PTSD. METHODS Data came from Wave 2 of the National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions-II (NESARC-II, 2004-2005) and included demographics, PTSD diagnoses, traumatic events, and smoking behaviors. Odds ratios and group differences in smoking prevalence and behaviors based on PTSD diagnoses and exposure to traumatic experiences were calculated. RESULTS Traumatic events and PTSD diagnoses were both associated with greater smoking prevalences than persons without trauma or PTSD. Individuals with PTSD who smoke were more likely to report daily smoking than those without PTSD who smoke (Cohen's d = 0.19). Cigarette users with either trauma or PTSD smoked more cigarettes per day than cigarette users without trauma or PTSD (Cohen's d = 0.35). US adults with trauma exposure or PTSD have higher smoking prevalences and more intense smoking behaviors than those without PTSD or trauma. CONCLUSION Trauma or PTSD may each serve as a clinical indicator of increased risk of cigarette smoking-related health problems and prompt the implementation of targeted interventions to reduce the harms of smoking. Accounting for the Consequences of Tobacco Dependence on Cravings, Self-efficacy, and Motivation to Quit: Consideration of Identity Concerns. SPANISH JOURNAL OF PSYCHOLOGY 2020; 23:e34. Abstract
Tobacco dependence has been found to increase smoking cravings, and reduce both self-efficacy and motivation to quit. The present research proposes to test the hypothesis that such negative consequences are related to identity concerns and should thus appear more strongly in dependent smokers with a high (vs. low) smoker identity. In two correlational studies, daily smokers (Study 1: N = 237; Study 2: N = 154) were assessed for tobacco dependence, smoker identity, self-efficacy, craving to smoke (Study 1), and motivation to quit (Study 2). Among smokers who declared to be strongly dependent, those scoring high in smoker identity reported more smoking cravings (β = .28, p = .008, 95% CI [0.084, 0.563], $ {\upeta}_p^{{}^2} $ = .03) and less motivation to quit than those scoring low (β = -.58, p = .003, 95% CI [-1.379, -0.282], $ {\upeta}_p^{{}^2} $ = .06). Smoker identity was unrelated to these variables among non-dependent smokers (ps > .40). The relationship between tobacco dependence and self-efficacy was not affected by smoker identity (ps > .45). Through these studies, we provided evidence that the implications of tobacco dependence on smoking maintenance and difficulties in quitting may be, in part, explained by identity mechanisms.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The insula has a well-established role in nicotine dependence and is a node of the salience network, which integrates internal and external information to guide behavior. Recent findings reveal that internal and external processing occurs in the ventral anterior insula (vAI) and dorsal anterior insula (dAI), respectively. Whether vAI/dAI network connectivity differentially reflects internally generated craving and externally triggered smoking cue reactivity was tested. METHODS Thirty-six male and female nicotine-dependent individuals smoked 1 hour before functional magnetic resonance imaging. Baseline craving was measured, followed by resting-state and smoking cue reactivity scans and then another assessment of craving. Craving and cue reactivity interactions were measured by focusing on specific nodes of the salience network: the vAI/dAI and anterior cingulate cortex. RESULTS Resting-state vAI/dAI networks overlapped with the prototypical salience network, yet they possessed distinct patterns, linking the vAI with nodes of the internally focused default mode network and the dAI with nodes of the external, goal-related frontoparietal network. Internally generated baseline craving was associated with enhanced vAI connectivity, whereas rostral anterior cingulate cortex reactivity to external smoking cues was associated with greater dAI connectivity. We also found that cue reactivity in the rostral anterior cingulate cortex was associated with a rise in subjective cue-induced craving, whereas baseline subjective craving did not influence brain cue reactivity. CONCLUSIONS These data show that brain reactivity to smoking cues is associated with a subsequent increase in craving. In addition, separate insula networks have a role in an individual's vulnerability to internally related craving and externally triggered cue reactivity, which could guide the development of new, neurobiologically targeted therapies.

Abstract
Naltrexone has been extensively studied for the treatment of alcohol use disorder. However, less is known about the effects of naltrexone on smoking outcomes in the context of alcohol use among East Asian individuals who have been suggested to differ in response to alcohol and to naltrexone. The present study is a secondary analysis that used a double-blind placebo-controlled design (n = 31) to examine the (a) effects of alcohol on basal craving for cigarettes, (b) effects of naltrexone on cigarette craving and alcohol craving during alcohol administration, and (c) relationship between craving for alcohol and cigarettes. Heavy drinking smokers of East Asian descent completed two counterbalanced intravenous alcohol administration sessions, one after taking naltrexone (50 mg) for five days and one after taking a placebo for five days. Self-reported subjective craving for cigarettes and for alcohol was recorded during each experimental session. Craving for cigarettes and alcohol increased significantly throughout the intravenous alcohol administration. A significant breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) × Medication interaction revealed that naltrexone blunted cigarette craving during alcohol administration, compared to placebo. Naltrexone significantly reduced craving for alcohol during alcohol administration in this group of heavy drinking smokers. Alcohol craving significantly predicted cigarette craving, however this effect did not vary across rising alcohol administration or by medication. These findings demonstrate that naltrexone reduces the urge to smoke and to drink during alcohol administration. Clinical studies are needed to further ascertain whether naltrexone may be of benefit to this distinct subgroup of heavy drinking smokers. Abstract
INTRODUCTION Smoking lapses during a cessation attempt are common and are thought to be a key predictor of full relapse. Positive and negative affective states have been hypothesized as important precipitants of lapses during quit attempts, although findings have been mixed. Accumulating evidence suggests that women may smoke more when experiencing negative affective states, while men may smoke more when experiencing positive affective states. The possibility that these sex differences may play a role in predicting lapses during a smoking cessation attempt, however, has not been well-investigated. In this study, we hypothesized that, during a quit attempt, negative affect would be more strongly associated with lapses among women, and positive affect would be more strongly associated with lapses among men. METHOD We conducted a prospective study in which male and female nicotine-dependent smokers (n = 60) made an unaided, 'cold-turkey' quit attempt. For fourteen days following the initiation of the quit attempt, participants completed daily diaries in which they recorded the degree to which states of 'good mood' and 'bad mood' preceded smoking lapses. RESULTS Consistent with the study hypothesis, findings indicated that men reported higher good-mood-induced smoking lapses than women across the 14-day study interval. Conversely, while levels of bad-mood-induced smoking subsided over the 14-day interval among men, levels persisted among women. DISCUSSION Results further underscore the need to address sex-specific affective triggers when developing smoking cessation strategies.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Heavy drinking smokers experience significant difficulties with smoking cessation. Craving is closely tied to relapses during cessation attempts, and alcohol consumption increases cigarette craving among heavy drinking smokers. To date, however, few moderators of the relationship between craving and relapse have been identified. Individuals' capacity for distress tolerance predicts smoking cessation outcomes and may be connected to craving. Relatedly, pharmacotherapies like varenicline and naltrexone reduce cigarette and alcohol cravings, respectively. No studies have examined the interrelationships among distress tolerance, craving, and pharmacotherapy effects. This study therefore examines distress tolerance as a moderator of the relationship between overnight abstinence-induced cigarette craving and subsequent alcohol- and cigarette-induced changes in craving among heavy drinking smokers. This study also examines the impact of varenicline and naltrexone on these relationships. METHOD A total of 120 non-treatment-seeking heavy drinking smokers were randomized and titrated to one of the following conditions: (a) placebo, (b) varenicline, (c) naltrexone, or (d) varenicline + naltrexone. Participants then completed a laboratory paradigm after overnight abstinence that included consumption of alcohol (target .06 g/dl breath alcohol concentration) and one cigarette. Craving was assessed as abstinence-induced (Time 1), alcohol-induced (Time 2), and cigarette-induced (Time 3). RESULTS Within varenicline + naltrexone, low distress tolerance individuals exhibited higher increases from abstinence- to alcohol-induced cigarette craving relative to high distress tolerance individuals. Across medications, low distress tolerance individuals reported flatter decreases from abstinence- to cigarette-induced cigarette craving relative to high distress tolerance individuals. CONCLUSIONS Distress tolerance may differentially predict alcohol-induced cigarette craving when titrated to pharmacotherapy, as well as moderate decreases in craving after cigarette consumption. Future exploration of the identified interactive effects could elucidate specific conditions in which cravings are more proximally related to abstinence-induced smoking.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Heavy drinking smokers experience significant difficulties with smoking cessation. Craving is closely tied to relapses during cessation attempts, and alcohol consumption increases cigarette craving among heavy drinking smokers. To date, however, few moderators of the relationship between craving and relapse have been identified. Individuals' capacity for distress tolerance predicts smoking cessation outcomes and may be connected to craving. Relatedly, pharmacotherapies like varenicline and naltrexone reduce cigarette and alcohol cravings, respectively. No studies have examined the interrelationships among distress tolerance, craving, and pharmacotherapy effects. This study therefore examines distress tolerance as a moderator of the relationship between overnight abstinence-induced cigarette craving and subsequent alcohol- and cigarette-induced changes in craving among heavy drinking smokers. This study also examines the impact of varenicline and naltrexone on these relationships. METHOD A total of 120 non-treatment-seeking heavy drinking smokers were randomized and titrated to one of the following conditions: (a) placebo, (b) varenicline, (c) naltrexone, or (d) varenicline + naltrexone. Participants then completed a laboratory paradigm after overnight abstinence that included consumption of alcohol (target .06 g/dl breath alcohol concentration) and one cigarette. Craving was assessed as abstinence-induced (Time 1), alcohol-induced (Time 2), and cigarette-induced (Time 3). RESULTS Within varenicline + naltrexone, low distress tolerance individuals exhibited higher increases from abstinence- to alcohol-induced cigarette craving relative to high distress tolerance individuals. Across medications, low distress tolerance individuals reported flatter decreases from abstinence- to cigarette-induced cigarette craving relative to high distress tolerance individuals. CONCLUSIONS Distress tolerance may differentially predict alcohol-induced cigarette craving when titrated to pharmacotherapy, as well as moderate decreases in craving after cigarette consumption. Future exploration of the identified interactive effects could elucidate specific conditions in which cravings are more proximally related to abstinence-induced smoking.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Secondhand smoke exposure (SHSe) is predictive of greater nicotine dependence (ND) and poor smoking cessation (SC) outcomes. SHSe and its impact on ND and SC attempts in people with psychiatric disorders (PD) remain poorly understood. Hence, the objectives of this study were to (1) quantify SHSe, (2) examine the association of SHSe with ND, and (3) assess the association between SHSe and SC among tobacco users with PD. METHOD A cross-sectional survey of 118 tobacco users in an inpatient psychiatric facility was conducted. Data on demographics, tobacco use and SHSe history, motivation to quit smoking, ND, and SC attempts were obtained. Participants' environmental and psychosocial sources of and perceived SHSe were described. Multivariate linear regression analyses were used to examine the associations between SHSe and ND, while logistic regression analyses were used to assess the associations between SHSe and SC. RESULTS The primary sources of environmental SHSe were from the car (63.6%) and home (51.7%); primary sources of psychosocial SHSe were close friends (67.8%) and parents/grandparents (65.3%); and mean perceived SHSe was 6.2 ( SD = 3.5). Although perceived SHSe was significantly associated with ND (β = .39, p < .0001) in multivariate analyses, no SHSe variable was associated with SC. However, scores on items measuring motivation to quit smoking were associated with SC attempts. DISCUSSION Patients with PD reported high levels of SHSe, which was associated with higher ND. Routine screening for SHSe should be implemented as part of health assessments in this population to address ND treatment options. Moreover, targeted interventions and policies should be considered toward reducing SHSe in this vulnerable population.

Abstract
Introduction The Wisconsin Inventory of Smoking Dependence Motives (WISDM) is a multidimensional measure of smoking motives that was developed to facilitate research aiming to refine the nomological network surrounding tobacco dependence. Recent evidence suggests that a composite of four subscales, termed the Primary Dependence Motives (PDM), may represent core features of advanced addiction, while the remaining nine subscales (Secondary Dependence Motives; SDM) represent instrumental motives for cigarette use that may be relevant at any stage of smoking. Methods A sample of 255 smokers (all regular alcohol users) participated in an ecological momentary assessment study in which they monitored smoking behavior and related experiences for 21 days. Multilevel regression analyses tested how PDM and SDM predicted daily smoking rate, cigarette craving, and appraisals of pleasure and relief of unpleasant feelings from smoking. Results When PDM and SDM were entered simultaneously, only PDM was related to daily cigarette count, and only SDM predicted reports of craving and relief from unpleasant feelings from smoking. SDM was associated with reports of greater pleasure from smoking and PDM was associated with lower pleasure ratings. The Fagerström Test for Nicotine Dependence (FTND) was related to daily smoking rate and craving, but WISDM composites contributed incremental prediction. Conclusions The findings confirm that PDM indexes heavier use that is relatively unrelated to immediate consequences of smoking. SDM is not uniquely related to smoking heaviness, but is associated with craving and reports of pleasure and relief of unpleasant feelings derived from smoking during ad lib use. Implications This study extends the evidence for the distinction between the WISDM PDM and SDM. PDM scores are associated with heavier smoking and are relatively unrelated to immediate consequences of smoking. SDM is more strongly related to craving and reports of smoking-derived pleasure and relief of unpleasant feelings during ongoing use in daily life.

Abstract
According to learning-based models of behavior, food cue reactivity and craving are conditioned responses that lead to increased eating and subsequent weight gain. However, evidence supporting this relationship has been mixed. We conducted a quantitative meta-analysis to assess the predictive effects of food cue reactivity and craving on eating and weight-related outcomes. Across 69 reported statistics from 45 published reports representing 3,292 participants, we found an overall medium effect of food cue reactivity and craving on outcomes (r = 0.33, p < 0.001; approximately 11% of variance), suggesting that cue exposure and the experience of craving significantly influence and contribute to eating behavior and weight gain. Follow-up tests revealed a medium effect size for the effect of both tonic and cue-induced craving on eating behavior (r = 0.33). We did not find significant differences in effect sizes based on body mass index, age, or dietary restraint. However, we did find that visual food cues (e.g. pictures and videos) were associated with a similar effect size to real food exposure and a stronger effect size than olfactory cues. Overall, the present findings suggest that food cue reactivity, cue-induced craving and tonic craving systematically and prospectively predict food-related outcomes. These results have theoretical, methodological, public health and clinical implications.
