Abstract
Considering the widespread and indispensable nature of nuclear energy for future power generation, there is a concurrent increase in the discharge of radioactive Cs into water streams. Recent studies have demonstrated that adsorption is crucial in removing Cs from wastewater for environmental remediation. However, the existing literature lacks comprehensive studies on various adsorption methods, the capacities or efficiencies of adsorbents, influencing factors, isotherm and kinetic models of the Cs adsorption process. A bibliometric and comprehensive analysis was conducted using 1179 publications from the Web of Science Core Collection spanning from 2014 to 2023. It reviews and summarizes current publication trends, active countries, adsorption methods, adsorption capacities or efficiencies of adsorbents, tested water sources, influencing factors, isotherm, and kinetic models of Cs adsorption. The selection of suitable adsorbents and operating parameters is identified as a crucial factor. Over the past decade, due to their notable capacity for Cs adsorption, considerable research has focused on novel adsorbents, such as Prussian blue, graphene oxide, hydrogel, and nanoadsorbents (NA). However, there remains a need for further development of application-oriented laboratory-scale experiments. Future research directions should encompass exploring adsorption mechanisms, developing new adsorbents or their combinations, practical applications of lab-scale studies, and recycling radioactive Cs from wastewater. Drawing upon this literature review, we present the most recent research patterns concerning adsorbents to remove Cs, outline potential avenues for future research, and delineate the obstacles hindering effective adsorption. This comprehensive bibliometric review provides valuable insights into prevalent research focal points and emerging trends, serving as a helpful resource for researchers and policymakers seeking to understand the dynamics of adsorbents for Cs removal from water.

Abstract
The positive liquid crystals, 4'-heptyl-4-biphenylcarbonitrile (7CB), are used to functionalize carbon nanotubes (LC-CNT), which can be aligned in the liquid crystalline polyimide (LC-PI) matrix under an alternating electric field to fabricate the thermally conductive LC-CNT/LC-PI composite films. The efficient establishment of thermal conduction pathways in thermally conductive LC-CNT/LC-PI composite films with a low amount of LC-CNT is achieved through the oriented alignment of LC-CNT within the LC-PI matrix. When the mass fraction of LC-CNT is 15 wt %, the in-plane thermal conductivity coefficient (λ∥ ) and the through-plane thermal conductivity coefficient (λ⊥ ) of the LC-CNT/LC-PI composite films reach 4.02 W/(m ⋅ K) and 0.55 W/(m⋅K), which are 90.5 % and 71.9 % higher than those of the intrinsically thermally conductive LC-PI films respectively, also 28.8 % and 5.8 % higher than those of the CNT/LC-PI composite films respectively. Meanwhile, the thermally conductive LC-CNT/LC-PI composite films also possess excellent mechanical and heat resistance properties. The Young's modulus and the heat resistance index are 2.3 GPa and 297.7 °C, respectively, which are higher than the intrinsically thermally conductive LC-PI films and the thermally conductive CNT/LC-PI composite films under the same amount of CNT.

Abstract
Adsorption and photocatalytic properties of carbonaceous materials, viz., carbon nanotubes (CNTs), fullerene, graphene, graphene oxide, carbon nanofiber nanospheres, and activated carbon, are the legitimate weapons for the remediation of emerging and persistent inorganic/organic contaminants, heavy metals, and radionucleotides from the environment. High surface area, low or non-toxic nature, ease of synthesis, regeneration, and chemical modification of carbonaceous material make them ideal for the removal of toxicants. The research techniques investigated during the last decade for the elimination of environmental toxicants using carbonaceous materials are reviewed to offer comprehensive insight into the mechanism, efficiency, applications, advantages, and shortcomings. Opportunities and challenges associated with carbon materials have been discussed to suggest future perspectives in the remediation of environmental toxicants.

Abstract
Prussian blue (PB) analog (NiFe, CoFe, FeFe, and commercial(cPB)) decorated carbon nanofiber (CNF) electrodes were synthesized by the drop casting method in this study to investigate the interaction between PB and CNF for the electrochemical adsorption (EA) and electrochemical desorption (ED) of Cs ion (Cs+). The adhesion of PB on the electrode and the EA and ED of Cs+ were substantially higher when the CNF electrode was used, compared with the fluorine-doped tin oxide supporting electrode. The use of CNF led to the smooth occurrence of EA and ED of Cs+, where the reported efficiency was: NiFe > FeFe > cPB. The EA and ED of Cs+ on NiFe decorated CNF (C-NiFe) were strongly affected by the loading amount of NiFe. Although the strongest EA capacity was identified when 1 mg of NiFe was used, it decreased as the loading amount of NiFe increased. Thus, the EA of Cs+ occurs under the reduction of NiFe with some Fe(III) reduced to Fe(II) of NiFe, thus inducing more adsorption of Cs+. Overall, we confirmed that the C-NiFe electrode with appropriate thickness of NiFe layer is potentially an excellent adsorbent for Cs removal.

Abstract
AbstractCore–shell nanocomposite of copper hexacyanoferrate copolymer of anthranilic acid with o-phenylenediamine (CHCF-poly-AA-co-OPD)) was synthesized and used as ion exchanger for the removal of cesium ions from wastewater. The nanocomposite was prepared by implantation of CHCF nanoparticles into the copolymer of poly(AA-co-OPD) during the polymerization process. By transmission electron microscope, scanning electron microscope and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller, the surface morphology and the porous structure were investigated. The physicochemical characterization of the prepared core–shell nanocomposite was carried out by FT-IR spectroscopy, XRD and thermogravimetric analysis. As a function in pH, metal ion concentration, shaking time and temperature, the capacity of the CSNC toward cesium ions and the behaviors of the process were studied. The results illustrated that the maximum capacity was recorded 1.35 mmol g−1 at pH 11, 10 mmol L−1 Cs+ and 25 °C. Also, Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin–Radushkevich (D–R) isotherms models were studied, in which the data were well fitted with Langmuir model, suggesting that the uptake of Cs+ was monolayer and homogeneous. Also, the adsorption kinetics data were fitted well to pseudo-second-order model. Thermodynamic parameters were calculated in the temperature from 25 to 60 °C, and the data revealed that Cs+ sorption was endothermic, spontaneous and more favorable at higher temperature. Up to 92% desorption of Cs+ was completed with 2 M KCl.

Abstract
Radioactive cesium (137Cs) and strontium (90Sr) contaminants in seawater have been a serious problem since the Fukushima accident in 2011 due to their long-term health risks. For the effective and simultaneous removal of radioactive cesium (137Cs) and strontium (90Sr) from seawater, a Prussian blue (PB)-immobilized alginate aerogel (PB-alginate aerogel) was fabricated and its adsorption performance was evaluated. PB nanoparticles were homogeneously dispersed in the three-dimensional porous alginate aerogel matrix, which enabled facile contact with seawater. The PB-alginate aerogel exhibited Cs+ and Sr2+ adsorption capacities of 19.88 and 20.10 mg/g, respectively, without substantial interference because Cs+ and Sr2+ adsorption occurred at different adsorption sites on the composite. The Cs+ and Sr2+ adsorption onto the PB-alginate aerogel was completed within 3 h due to the highly porous morphology of the aerogel. The Cs+ and Sr2+ adsorption behaviors on the PB-alginate aerogel were systematically investigated under various conditions. Compared with Cs+ adsorption, Sr2+ adsorption onto the PB-alginate aerogel was more strongly influenced by competing cations (Na+, Mg2+, Ca2+, and K+) in seawater. 137Cs and 90Sr removal tests in real seawater demonstrated the practical feasibility of the PB-alginate aerogel as an adsorbent.

Abstract
Efficient removal of radioactive cesium from complex wastewater is a challenge. Unlike traditional precipitation and hydrothermal synthesis, a novel vast specific surface area adsorbent of copper hexacyanoferrates named EA-CuHCF was synthesized using a one-pot solvothermal method under the moderate ethanol media characterized by XRD, SEM, EDS, BET, and FTIR. It was found that the maximum adsorption capacity towards Cs+ was 452.5 mg/g, which is far higher than most of the reported Prussian blue analogues so far. Moreover, EA-CuHCF could effectively adsorb Cs+ at a wide pH range and low concentration of Cs+ in geothermal water within 30 minutes, and the removal rate of Cs+ was 92.1%. Finally, the separation factors between Cs+ and other competitive ions were higher than 553, and the distribution coefficient of Cs+ reached up to 2.343 × 104 mL/g. These properties suggest that EA-CuHCF synthesized by the solvothermal method has high capacity and selectivity and can be used as a candidate for Cs+ removal from wastewater.

Abstract
In this work, novel Prussian blue analogs-based layered double hydroxide (PBA@ZnTi-LDH) was in situ synthesized and used for radioactive Cs+ removal from wastewater. The results suggested that this PBA@ZnTi-LDH prepared using LDH as skeleton and transition metal source showed higher adsorption capacity (243.9 mg/g) and water stability than conventional PBAs, and promising application in scale-up Cs+ removal. Thus, it was granulated by calcium alginate and the PBA@ZnTi-LDH/CaALG exhibited favorable post-separation and fixed-bed adsorption ability at different Cs+ concentrations and flow rates, highlighting its application perspective on Cs+ removal from various kinds of wastewater. Moreover, the real-world Cs+ removal was preliminarily explored using natural complex Cs+-containing water. As a result, this stable and easily separated PBA@ZnTi-LDH/CaALG showed high removal efficiency, selectivity and good reusability, which was promising in scale-up Cs+ removal from the real-world wastewater.

Abstract
Carbon nanotubes (CNT) are uniformly covered with copper hexacyanoferrate (CuHCF) via coprecipitation to form a core shell structure. The CuHCF thickness can be tuned from 10 nm to 30 nm by changing the CuHCF loading in the hybrids from 25% to 58%. The capacitive behavior is affected by the hydrated cation radius. In 1 mol l-1 KCl solution, CuHCF/CNT hybrids (46% CuHCF loading) show the largest specific capacitance of up to 989 F g-1 at a discharge density of 1 A g-1. The hybrids also possess superior rate capability with only 8.2% capacitance loss when increasing the discharge current from 1 to 20 A g-1. The superior capacitive performance of the hybrids in the K+-ion solution can be attributed to the smaller hydrated radius of the K+ ion, which will favor the diffusion of the cation within the CuHCF lattice, leading to a larger faradic current. Besides, the cyclic stability of the hybrids is surprising, with 89.7% capacitance retention after 10000 discharge/charge cycles. The CuHCF/CNT hybrids are combined with the reduced graphene oxides (RGOs) to construct an asymmetrical supercapacitor, and its potential window can reach up to 2.0 V. More importantly, this supercapacitor exhibits a high energy density of 60.4 Wh kg-1 at the power density of 0.5 kW kg-1.

Abstract
Cesium is a radioactive fission product generated in nuclear power plants and is disposed of as liquid waste. The recent catastrophe at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in Japan has increased the 137Cs and 134Cs concentrations in air, soil and water to lethal levels. 137Cs has a half-life of 30.4 years, while the half-life of 134Cs is around two years, therefore the formers' detrimental effects linger for a longer period. In addition, cesium is easily transported through water bodies making water contamination an urgent issue to address. Presently, efficient water remediation methods towards the extraction of 137Cs are being studied. Prussian blue (PB) and its analogs have shown very high efficiencies in the capture of 137Cs+ ions. In addition, combining them with magnetic nanoparticles such as Fe3O4 allows their recovery via magnetic extraction once exhausted. Graphene and carbon nanotubes (CNT) are the new generation carbon allotropes that possess high specific surface areas. Moreover, the possibility to functionalize them with organic or inorganic materials opens new avenues in water treatment. The combination of PB-CNT/Graphene has shown enhanced 137Cs+ extraction and their possible applications as membranes can be envisaged. This review will survey these nanocomposites, their efficiency in 137Cs+ extraction, their possible toxicity, and prospects in large-scale water remediation and succinctly survey other new developments in 137Cs+ extraction.

Abstract
A electrochemical adsorption system driven by microbial fuel cell (MFC-adsorption) was developed based on copper(II) hexacyanoferrate(III) (CuHCF) film for cesium (Cs) removal from wastewater. Cs uptake and elution can be simply controlled by regulating the redox states of the CuHCF films. Chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal showed little difference as MFC was connected to adsorption system. Meanwhile, power density and coulombic efficiency of MFC were dramatically reduced. The efficiencies of Cs adsorption and desorption were undesirable. MFC-adsorption technology used for actual nuclear wastewater treatment still has far to go.

Abstract
Radioactive substances have been widely used in many industrial sectors, e.g. nuclear power station, biomedical engineering, etc. With increasing applications of nuclear technology, more and more radioactive wastewater is being generated via different channels, which indeed is posing an emerging challenge and threat to the environment and human health. Given such a situation, this review attempts to offer a holistic view with regard to the state of the art of technology for decontamination of radioactive wastewater as well as shed lights on the challenges forward. Different from reclamation of other types of wastewaters, the most challenging issue in decontamination of radioactive wastewater is the effective stabilization and solidification of soluble radioactive nuclides present in wastewater, which are critical for final disposal. Moreover, the potential risk of human exposure to wastewater radiation needs to be carefully assessed, and this issue should also be taken into consideration in the selection, design and operation of the radioactive wastewater treatment process. These clearly differentiate the treatment principle of radioactive wastewater from those of traditional industrial and municipal wastewaters. Lastly, the challenges from the perspectives of technology development, environmental and human health impacts and possible solutions forward are also elucidated.
