Abstract
Carbon dots (CDs) with blue emission were synthesized by solvothermal method using hydroquinone and 5-aminoisphthalic acid as precursors. The strong oxidation of ClO- caused the fluorescence quenching of CDs at 405 nm, and synchronously generated a new emission peak at 500 nm. Furthermore, upon the addition of Cu2+ to CDs-ClO- system, the green fluorescence at 500 nm was quenched, while the blue emission at 405 nm remained unchanged, due to the complexation between Cu2+ and the amino group on the CDs surface. Meanwhile, the fluorescence color of system changed from blue to bright green and then to dark blue by sequentially increasing the concentrations of ClO- and Cu2+. The fluorescence signal of F500/F405 exhibited a linear relationship with the concentration of ClO- and Cu2+ in a certain range, respectively. Thus, a ratiometric fluorescence sensor based on the obtained CDs were developed to sequentially detect ClO- and Cu2+ with detection limits of 0.40 μM and 0.31 μM, respectively. Additionally, the CDs were mixed with polyvinyl alcohol hydrogel to form test strips, which were successfully used for visual detection of ClO- and Cu2+. Satisfactory results were also obtained in the analysis of ClO- and Cu2+ in actual water samples.

Abstract
This research, described ultrasound-assisted dispersive magnetic solid-phase microextraction, which is efficient for the enrichment and determination of sulfamethoxazole, based on magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer (USA-DMSPME-MIP). Meanwhile, the initial characterization of Fe3O4-MIP was completed by conventional methods and well-known protocols to obtain recognition and adsorbing performance at pre-specified optimum conditions. Fe3O4-MIP exhibited information regarding its selective recognition pattern towards sulfamethoxazole. The USA-DMSPME-MIP parameters were optimized by response surface methodology, and based on optimum conditions, this efficient method for the extraction and enrichment of sulfamethoxazole from spiked water samples and quantification by HPLC-UV was used. The enhanced technique indicates the limit of detection is 2 ng mL-1 for sulfamethoxazole, along with excellent linear range with coefficients of determination >0.99 and good recoveries for spiked water samples (94.2 and 98.2 %) with RSDs less than 3.5 %.

Abstract
This study was aimed at developing a simple and efficient CoSn(OH)6 nanocubes-based preconcentration method for the preconcentration of copper ions from cinnamon extracts for determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The cube-shaped sorbent was synthesized using the simple stoichiometric co-precipitation method under ambient conditions. Experimental factors of the method were evaluated with a comprehensive optimization approach to maximize the extraction efficiency for the analyte. Under the optimal conditions, the limit of detection (LOD), limit of quantitation (LOQ), and linear dynamic range were recorded as 0.98 µg/L, 3.28 µg/L, and 4.0-75 µg/L, respectively. The enhancement factor was calculated as 101.6-fold by comparing the LODs of the optimized and direct analysis systems. Percent recoveries were found to be within an acceptable range (77.6-115 %), with high repeatability using matrix matching calibration strategy. Results validated the proposed method as a highly efficient extraction approach for the monitoring of copper ions in herbal cinnamon extracts.

Abstract
Burning fossil fuels causes toxic gas emissions to increase, therefore, scientists are trying to find alternative green fuels. One of the important alternative fuels is biodiesel. However, using eco-friendly primary materials is a main factor. Sustainable catalysts should have high performance, good activity, easy separation from reaction cells, and regenerability. In this study, to solve the mentioned problem NaOH@Graphene oxide-Fe3O4 as a magnetic catalyst was used for the first time to generate biodiesel from waste cooking oil. The crystal structure, functional groups, surface area and morphology of catalyst were studied by XRD, FTIR, BET, and FESEM techniques. The response surface methodology based central composite design (RSM-CCD) was used for biodiesel production via ultrasonic technique. The maximum biodiesel yield was 95.88% in the following operation: 10.52:1 molar ratio of methanol to oil, a catalyst weight of 3.76 wt%, a voltage of 49.58 kHz, and a time of 33.29 min. The physiochemical characterization of biodiesel was based to ASTM standard. The magnetic catalyst was high standstill to free fatty acid due to the five cycle's regeneration. The kinetic study results possess good agreement with first-order kinetics as well as the activation energy and Arrhenius constant are 49.2 kJ/min and 16.47 * 1010 min-1, respectively.

Abstract
Background: Cadmium (Cd) is a very toxic and carcinogenic heavy metal even at low levels and it is naturally present in water as well as in food. Methods: A new polyvinyl benzyl xanthate (PvbXa) was synthesized and used as a new adsorbent in this work. It contains pendant sulfide groups on the main polystyryl chain. Using this new adsorbent, PvbXa, a vortex-assisted dispersive solid-phase microextraction (VA-dSPµE) procedure was developed for the determination of cadmium from food and water samples via flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry (FAAS). Synthesized PvbXa was characterized by 1H Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). The different parameters of pH, sample volume, mixing type and time, sorbent amount, and eluent time were optimized using standard analytical methods. Results: The optimized method for assessment of Cd in food and water samples shows good reliability. The optimum conditions were found to be a 0.20-150 µg L-1 linear range, 0.06 µg L-1 LOD, 0.20 µg L-1 LOQ, 4.3 RSD %, and a preconcentration factor of 160. Conclusions: The statistically experimental variables were utilized using a central composite design (CCD). The present method is a low-cost, simple, sensitive, and very effective tool for the recovery of Cd.

Abstract
In this study, a new homogeneous liquid-liquid microextraction method using a deep eutectic solvent has been developed for the extraction of Cu(II) and Pb(II) ions in dairy products. Initially, the deep eutectic solvent was synthesized using choline chloride and p-chlorophenol and used as the extraction solvent. The synthesized solvent was soluble in milk at 70 °C and its separation from the sample was performed by decreasing the temperature. By cooling, a cloudy solution was formed due to the low solubility of the solvent at low temperatures. On centrifugation, the fine droplets of the solvent containing the analytes settled at the bottom of the tube by sedimentation. The enriched analytes were determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The effect of some important parameters such as the amount of protein precipitating agent , complexing agent amount, extraction solvent volume, salt addition, pH, and temperature on the extraction efficiency of the method was studied and optimized. Under the optimal conditions, the linear ranges of the method for Cu(II) and Pb(II) ions were obtained in the ranges of 0.10-50 and 0.50-50 μg L-1 with detection limits of 0.04 and 0.18 μg L-1, respectively. The repeatability of the developed method, expressed as relative standard deviation, was determined to be 3.2 and 3.9% for Cu(II) and Pb(II) ions, respectively. Finally, by determining the concentration of Cu(II) and Pb(II) ions in milk, doogh, and cheese samples, the feasibility of the method was successfully confirmed with the extraction recoveries of 95.9 and 92.1% for Cu(II) and Pb(II) ions, respectively.

Abstract
A magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was synthesized by precipitation polymerization utilizing Fe3O4@SiO2-MPS as a magnetic core, itaconic acid as a functional monomer, azobisisobutyronitrile as an initiator, and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as a cross linker. It was then applied as a nanosorbent for dispersive magnetic micro solid phase extraction (DM-µ-SPE) and determination of valsartan in biological fluids. The morphology and structure of magnetic MIP were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, Field Emission Scanning electron microscopy, Vibrating sample magnetometer, Energy dispersive x-ray analysis, and Thermogravimetric analysis. The influence of operation conditions on sorption, such as pH (4-10), contact time (10-25 min), initial concentration (1-30 mg L-1), and temperature (25-40 °C) was investigated. After the extraction step, the valsartan concentration was determined by UV-Vis spectrophotometer at 253 nm. The isotherm and kinetic of valsartan sorption were best fitted by the Langmuir model (R2 = 0.987) and the Pseudo second-order kinetic model (R2 = 0.971), respectively. The maximum monolayer sorption capacity for magnetic MIP was obtained to be 4.56 mg g-1. The analytical approach demonstrated favorable figures of merit, with a linear dynamic range of 10-100 µg L-1, a low detection limit of 0.56 µg L-1, and an acceptable preconcentration factor of 5 acquired in optimum conditions. The recoveries of the suggested technique at three spiked levels of analysis were in the range of 101 %-102 %. Valsartan was extracted from various real samples (urine and human blood plasma samples) utilizing the proposed magnetic nanosorbent, and the results exhibited that magnetic MIP was favorable for extraction and measurement of trace amounts of valsartan in biological samples.

Abstract
In this work, deep eutectic solvent (DES) was used to modify GO-TiO2 to synthesize new adsorption material GO-TiO2-DES nanocomposites. It was first used for dispersive micro solid phase extraction (DMSPE) and combined with inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) for simultaneous determination of trace cobalt (Co) and lead (Pb) in natural medicine P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface area were used to characterize. The results showed that GO-TiO2-DES nanocomposites were successfully prepared and had better adsorption effect on metal ions. The factors affecting the extraction and elution of Co and Pb were optimized, including the type of DES, pH, adsorption time, amount of adsorbent, adsorption temperature, and elution time. Under the optimum conditions, the enhancement factors (EFs) of Co and Pb were 31 and 28, the limits of detection (LODs) were 0.11 and 0.24 μg L-1, and the limits of quantification (LOQs) were 0.36 and 0.82 μg L-1, respectively. The results of Co and Pb determined by the established method were in good agreement with those of inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), which verified the accuracy and reliability of the method.

Abstract
The aim of the present study is to estimate the different chemical fractionations of copper (Cu) and selenium (Se) in coal samples of different coal mining areas. The Cu and Se bound to various chemical fractions of coal collected from two mining fields of Sindh, Pakistan, have been determined by BCR sequential extraction scheme (BCR-SES). The long duration of the BCR sequential scheme (51 h) was reduced by a time-saving shaking device (ultrasonic bath) termed as ultrasonic-assisted extraction (USE) depending on the same operating conditions and extracting solutions used for BCR sequential extraction scheme. The both trace elements were determined in aquifer water, sampled from different depth of both coal mining fields. In addition, the groundwater of dug well in the vicinity of coal mining areas were also analyzed for Cu and Se using reported extraction methodologies. The partitioning of Cu and Se bound with different chemical fractions of coal was successfully made by proposed USE, within 2 h as compared to long duration of BCR-SES (51 h). The Cu and Se concentrations in acid-soluble fractions of coal samples were > 10%, enhanced by USE extraction procedure than those values gained via BCR-SES (p < 0.01). About 67 to 69% of Cu were found in the first three fractions, whereas their remaining amount corresponding to 31 to 33%, respectively bound with crystalline/residual fraction, while up to 66.1 to 71.1% of total Se contents extracted in three extractable phases, followed up to 28.9 to 33.8% of it was bound with residual phase. The concentrations of Cu and Se in groundwater of different aquifers were found in decreasing order as AQ1 > AQII > AQIII; the same trend was observed for two aquifers of Lakhra coal mining, whereas the groundwater samples have two to three folds higher levels of Se than WHO limit. The Cu levels in water samples were significantly lower than the recommended limit of WHO for drinking water (p < 0.01).

Abstract
Here, two-dimensional (2D) nitrogen-doped carbon nanosheets (CNSs) were prepared through carbonizing MOFs (ZIF-8) in-situ grown using graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) as a template. The developed ZIF-8 CNS was then used as solid-phase microextraction (SPME) fiber coating for beneficiation of five biomarkers in exhalation of patients with esophageal cancer and in gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for determination. The ZIF-8 CNS fiber exhibits satisfactory enrichment factors (3490-5631), wide linearity (5-1000 μg L-1), and low detection limits (0.26-0.96 μg L-1). The relative standard deviations (RSDs) for six replicate extractions of the same ZIF-8 CNS fiber were between 2.0-3.9% (intra-day) and 2.8-5.2% (inter-day). The reproducibility of three fibers prepared by the same approach was in the range 6.8-12.3% (RSD). The developed ZIF-8 CNS fiber can persist in 120 SPME cycles with no prominent loss of extraction efficiency and precision. The high enrichment factors of the 2D ZIF-8 CNS coatings are attributed to the high specific surface area, ultrathin thickness, and nano-pore or interlayer channels; moreover, nitrogen doping also endows the π system with a strong electron absorption ability, which will enhance the π-π interaction between the ZIF-8 CNS and the aromatic ring. Ultimately, the self-made ZIF-8 CNS-coated SPME fiber was applied to the analysis of exhaled breath samples. The recoveries of spiked analytes are between 84 and 105%.

Abstract
In the present work, saline leachate of the Bushehr coastal city (Iran) was purified using the ultraviolet/ultrasonication wave/periodate process. The initial TDS and TOC values of the leachate studied were 7390 mg/L and 975 mg/L, respectively. During the effect of various parameters on leachate purification, the experiments were optimized at pH 3, oxidizer concentration of 4 mM, and treatment time of 120 min. The initial BOD5/COD ratio of 0.66 was reduced to 0.42 at the end of the purification time (120 min). After leachate treatment under optimal conditions, the amount of BOD5, COD, and UV254 were 451.5 mg/L, 1072 mg/L, and 12.69 cm-1, respectively. Concentrations of heavy metals in crude leachate by ICP-OES were checked. Also, the concentration of organic compounds before and after purification was determined using GC-Mass. The leachate purification kinetics followed the first-order model using the designed method. Based on the COD factor, the system energy consumption for leachate treatment was calculated to be 11.4 kWh/m3. The results showed that the system explored (UV/US/IO4-) can effectively purify high salinity waste leachate.

Abstract
In this work, a dispersive solid-phase extraction method based on Ni(OH)2 nanoflowers (Ni(OH)2-NFs-DSPE) was developed to separate and preconcentrate copper ions from tap water samples for determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). Ni(OH)2-NFs was synthesized using a homogeneous precipitation technique and used as sorbent for copper preconcentration. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy were used to characterize the synthesized sorbent. All experimental variables were carefully optimized to achieve a high enhancement factor of 107.5-folds with respect to the detection sensitivity of the conventional FAAS. The proposed method's analytical parameters including LOD, LOQ, and linear range were determined as 1.33 μg/L, 4.42 μg/L, and 3.0-40 μg/L, respectively. To assess the applicability and reliability of the developed method, optimal conditions were applied to tap water samples and satisfactory percent recoveries (94-103%) were obtained for the samples spiked at 20 and 30 μg/L. This validated the accuracy and feasibility of the developed method to real samples. The developed method can be described as a simple, efficient, and rapid analytical approach for the accurate determination of trace copper ions in water samples.

Abstract
The synthesis and application of magnetic nanosorbents to remove emerging pollutants have been considered the best environmental remediation and sustainability option. Incorporating magnetism shortens the treatment time and allows the sorbent to be recovered quickly using external magnetic with many cycles. The implementation of magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) using magnetic materials of different shapes, sizes, and surface morphology can be a valuable tool in applying materials to prepare analytical samples. In MSPE applications, materials with strong magnetic domain can be used as precursors for constructing magnetic composite as a promising sorbent. This article focuses on the most recent and exceptional applications of magnetic adsorbents for preconcentration and removal purposes. Magnetic adsorbents, such as nanoparticles (NPs), foam, sponges, nanocomposites, hydrogels, and beads with multifunctional attributes have been comprehensively studied in terms of preparation procedures, limitations, advantages, and interactions between pollutants and magnetic composites. The role of magnetic sorbents in sample preparation methods, such as simple solid-phase extraction and microextraction, as well as sorptive extraction using a stir bar, was also examined. The use of magnetic adsorbents with analytical techniques, such as solid-phase extraction and solid-phase microextraction improves the method for preparing samples concerning the influential role of magnetic adsorbents. Towards the end, promising features and future outlook are also directed.

Abstract
In this research, the piperazine-modified magnetic graphene oxide (Pip@MGO) nanocomposite was synthesized and utilized as a nano-adsorbent for the removal of Pb(II) ions from environmental water and wastewater samples. The physicochemical properties of Pip@MGO nanocomposite was characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX), Thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA), Vibrating Sample Magnetometery (VSM) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis. In this method, the batch removal process were designed by response surface methodology (RSM) based on a central composite design (CCD) model. The results indicated that the highest efficiency of Pb(II) removal was obtained from the quadratic model under optimum conditions of prominent parameters (initial pH 6.0, adsorbent dosage 7 mg, initial concentration of lead 15 mg L−1 and contact time 27.5 min). Adsorption data showed that lead ions uptake on Pip@MGO nanocomposite followed the Langmuir isotherm model equation and pseudo-second order kinetic model. High adsorption capacity (558.2 mg g−1) and easy magnetic separation capability showed that the synthesized Pip@MGO nanocomposite has great potential for the removal of Pb(II) ions from contaminated wastewaters.

Abstract
This work reports the development of a simple, sensitive and low-cost analytical method for the trace determination of copper. A metal sieve-linked double syringe liquid phase microextraction method was used to preconcentrate copper into measurable quantities for FAAS system. The pressurized mixing offered by the automated syringe system and the sieve connector enhanced surface area for analyte and extraction solvent interaction, this significantly increased the extraction efficiency for copper. There was therefore no need for auxiliary organic solvents as disperser solvents for the extractant dichloromethane. The limits of detection and quantification, linear dynamic range and percent relative standard deviation values calculated for copper under optimum conditions of the method were 1.5 and 5.1 µg L-1, 5.0-500 µg L-1 and 8.4%, respectively. The developed method was successfully employed to determine copper (0.75-8.06 mg kg-1) in unspiked olive leaf samples.

Abstract
In this work, the reagent Cyanex® 272 has been incorporated in a three-phase solvent bar micro-extraction system to selectively separate the inorganic and organic fractions of copper in seawater. Optimized conditions for micro-extraction of Cu fractions were 0.2 M Cyanex® 272 in the organic solution contained into the fiber pores, 0.5 M HCl as acceptor solution within the fiber, stirring rate of 500 rpm, and 60 min time of extraction, providing an enrichment factor of 51.6 ± 2.3. Experimental results for selective extraction of organic and inorganic Cu showed a good correlation with theoretical data for Cu speciation, and the relationship between enrichment factor and dissolved organic carbon (DOC) concentration in the samples was used to predict total Cu concentration. Instrumental determination of Cu presented a linear response within the range 0.1-20 µg L-1, obtaining a limit of detection of 0.03 µg L-1. Finally, the method was successfully applied to the study of Cu fractions in real seawater samples collected from the Bay of Cádiz (Spain).

Abstract
In this work, iron (III) oxinate magnetic nanocomposite was synthesized and employed as an efficient sorbent for the magnetic dispersive solid phase extraction of some polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from honey samples. In the following, dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction procedure was used to further preconcentration of the analytes. The prepared sorbent was characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer, X-ray diffractometer, vibrating sample magnetometer, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscope, and scanning electron microscope. The results verified the successful formation of the magnetic sorbent. In the extraction process, the sorbent was added into an aqueous solution and the mixture was vortexed. After completing the adsorption process, the supernatant phase was separated in the presence of a magnet and the analytes adsorbed onto sorbent were eluted by acetonitrile. Then, μL-level of 1,1,1-trichloroethane was mixed with the obtained acetonitrile and injected into NaCl solution. Finally, one microliter of the sedimented phase was injected into gas chromatography-flame ionization detector after centrifugation. Under the optimum conditions, a great repeatability (relative standard deviation equal or less than 5 and 6% for intra- and inter day precisions, respectively), acceptable extraction recoveries (59-84%), high enrichment factors (118-168), and low limits of detection and quantification (0.16-0.36 and 0.56-1.22 ng g-1 , respectively) were acquired. Abstract
A smartphone-assisted fluorescence color sensing system for rapid, convenient, and on-site detection of copper ions was developed. The ratiometric fluorescence sensor was fabricated by using silica-coated blue-light-emitting carbon dots and surface-grafted red-light-emitting cadmium-telluride quantum dots. After exposure to Cu2+ in 20 s, the red fluorescence was quenched obviously, while the blue fluorescence remained unchanged, and the sensor color changes continuously from red to blue under the ultraviolet lamp. The concentration (50-1200 nM) of copper ions could be measured by the fluorescence spectrum (excitation at 360 nm, dual-emission at 441 and 640 nm) with a detection limit of 7.7 nM. The fluorescence colors were converted to digital RGB values to calculate the concentration of copper ions by a smartphone with a detection limit of 9.6 nM. The method was applied to detecting copper ions spiked in real samples with recovery from 97.9 to 108.0% and RSD from 3.8 to 8.9%. Thus, this convenient and practical fluorescence color sensing system presents a new strategy for rapid, sensitive, and on-site determination of copper ions in environmental or biological samples.

Abstract
Magnetic dispersive solid phase extraction (MdSPE) was developed to determine the concentration of lead (Pb) in real water samples, while graphene oxide-magnetite-dithizone (GO-Fe3O4-DTZ) from the used graphite tubes (recycled graphite) of electrothermal technique was simply employed as a new sorbent to improve extraction efficiency, separated by external magnetic field and analyzed with FAAS. The synthesized sorbent was evaluated for its surface property, functional group and surface morphology by Zeta potential, Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer (FTIR), and scanning electron microscope (SEM), respectively. The relevant measurement parameters, such as pH, extraction time, type and concentration of eluent, sample volume and reusability, were optimized. Under the optimal conditions, preconcentration factor was 13.33. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantitation (LOQ) obtained were 0.070 and 0.23 mg/L, respectively. The relative standard deviation (%RSD) was 3.41%. Recovery values were 90.1 - 123%. In addition, the robustness of the method was affirmed in terms of tolerance limit obtained from interference studies.

Abstract
In the present work, a phenanthroline derivative (2-(2-methoxyphenyl)-4-phenyl-1,10-phenanthroline, MPP), as a fluorescent probe, was synthesized to realize a rapid, simple and sensitive detection of silver(I). The detection conditions of Ag+ were optimized. This fluorescent probe has the advantages of a fast reaction time, a wide pH applicable range, and a low detection limit, exhibiting a good linear response between the fluorescence intensity and the concentration in the range of 0.05 - 1.5 μmol/L for Ag+. The detection limit is as low as 3.38 × 10-8 mol/L (S/N = 3). This probe had been used to detect Ag+ in real samples, and the recovery efficiency of spiked Ag+ had been also tested. The recovery efficiency is satisfactory, ranging from 92.0 to 105.4%. Therefore, this fluorescent probe should provide a new choice for the quantitative detection of silver ions in environmental water samples.

Abstract
Graphene oxide (GO)-functionalized pencil lead fiber was prepared for the first time by in situ oxidation and exfoliation of graphite contained in pencil lead fiber to porous graphene oxide structure via a one-step solvent-free dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) microplasma treatment. This new fiber was demonstrated as a highly efficient and low-cost solid-phase microextraction (SPME) fiber for the determination of toxic metal ions. The fiber extraction performance was evaluated by using cadmium as a model analyte in a direct immersing SPME mode. Unlike most commercially available and other lab-built fibers, the preparation of the graphene oxidized pencil lead fiber is environmentally friendly, low cost, and non-toxic without using any organic solvents. The fiber is robust due to its coating-free configuration. Furthermore, high extraction efficiency and high sensitivity for cadmium can be obtained due to the abundant oxygen-containing functional groups on the surface of the novel fiber. After extraction, the cadmium adsorbed on the fiber was desorbed to 150-μL solution. Graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GF-AAS) with low sample consumption was used to determine cadmium. The calibration curve for cadmium ions was linear in a range 0.04-0.26 μg L-1 with a detection limit of 0.005 μg L-1. A relative standard deviation (RSD, n = 5) of 2.1% was obtained at 0.1 μg L-1 of cadmium. The sensitivity enhancement factor (EF) value of the proposed SPME method was 25. The SPME fiber was successfully applied to determine cadmium in tap water, river water, and pond water with spike recoveries ranging from 94 to 105%. Pipe network water samples were also analyzed to evaluate the cadmium release to drinking water due to the corrosion of tubes.

Abstract
A simplistic approach is presented for the synthesis of ultrasonically fabricated graphene oxide functionalized with polyaniline and N-[3-(Trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ethylenediamine. The synthesized nanocomposite was then employed for the facile, green, ultrasound-assisted, magnetic dispersive solid-phase extraction of amoxicillin, ampicillin, and penicillin G in milk samples and infant formula prior to high-performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet determination. The designed nanocomposites were comprehensively characterized using field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. In order to achieve the best extraction efficiencies, the influential parameters including pH, amount of magnetic sorbent, type and volume of elution solvent, extraction time, sample volume, and desorption time were assessed. At the optimum conditions, linear ranges of 2.5-1000 (μg L-1) for ampicillin and penicillin G and a linear range of 2.5-750 (μg L-1) were obtained for amoxicillin at optimum conditions. Moreover, the limits of detection (S/N = 3) of 0.5, 0.8, and 0.9 (μg L-1) were obtained for amoxicillin, ampicillin, and penicillin G, respectively. The precision (relative standard deviations (%)) values of 3.1, 2.6, and 2.5 at the concentration of 50 μg L-1 for seven replicates were obtained for ampicillin, amoxicillin, and penicillin G, respectively. The efficiencies of ≤ 96% and relative standard deviations of less than 3.1% were also obtained thereby confirming the high potential of the synthesized nanocomposites for simultaneous preconcentration and separation of the β-lactam antibiotics in complex matrixes. Graphical Abstract.

Abstract
In this paper, a CO2-effervescence assisted dispersive micro solid-phase extraction procedure (CO2-EA-DμSPE) using a magnetic layered double hydroxide modified with polyaniline and a surfactant (Zn-Al-LDH-PA-DBSNa-Fe3O4) was applied for the pre-concentration of heavy metals (Ni2+, Pb2+, Co2+, and Cd2+). The final analysis of the analytes was carried out by atomic absorption spectroscopy. XRD, FTIR, and SEM studies were used for the characterization of the synthesized nanoadsorbent. For the maximum extraction efficiency, effective factors (including pH, nanoadsorbent dosage, and volume of the eluent) were investigated using the central composite design (CCD) method. Under the optimum conditions, the preconcentration factor was more than 20. The linear ranges for Ni2+, Pb2+, Co2+, and Cd2+ were obtained as (5-550), (7-750), (5-500), and (3-100) ng mL-1, respectively. The proposed method provided low detection limits (1.4, 2.1, 1.5, and 0.9 ng mL-1 for Ni2+, Pb2+, Co2+, and Cd2+, respectively) and suitable repeatability (relative standard deviation values (RSDs) below 6.1%, n = 6). Finally, the current method was successfully used for the extraction of heavy metals from cosmetic samples.
