Abstract
Glucose holds significant importance in disease diagnosis as well as beverage quality monitoring. The high-efficiency electrochemical sensor plays a crucial role in the electrochemical conversion technology. Ni(OH)2 nanosheets are provided with high specific surface area and redox activity that are widely used in electrochemistry. Conductive metal-organic frameworks (cMOFs) perfectly combine the structural controllability of organic materials with the long-range ordering of inorganic materials that possess the characteristic of high electron mobility. Based on the above considerations, the combination of Ni(OH)2 and Ni-HHTP (HHTP=2,3,6,7,10,11-hexahydroxytriphenylene) as an electrode modification material is designed to enhance electrochemical performance. In this work, to improve glucose detection, a sequence of Ni(OH)2@NiCo-HHTP and NiM-LDH@Ni-HHTP (M=Co2+, Mn2+, Cu2+, LDH=layered double hydroxide) are successfully synthesised by doping metals into Ni-HHTP and Ni(OH)2, respectively. As a result, NiCu-LDH@Ni-HHTP showed the best excellent glucose detection sensitivity.

Abstract
The electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction (eNRR) provides a sustainable green development route for the nitrogen-neutral cycle. In this work, bimetallic CoFe-MIL-88A with two active sites (Fe, Co) were immobilized on a 2D V2CTx MXene surface by in situ growth method to achieve the purpose of the control interface. A large number of heterostructures are formed between small CoFe-MIL-88A and V2CTx, which regulate the electron transfer between the catalyst interfaces. The adsorption and activation of nitrogen on the active sites were enhanced, and the NRR reaction kinetics was accelerated. CoFe-MIL-88A is tightly arranged on V2CTx, which makes CoFe-MIL-88A/V2CTx have better hydrophobicity and can significantly inhibit the hydrogen evolution reaction. The synergistic effect of multicatalytic active sites and multi-interface structure of CoFe-MIL-88A/V2CTx MXene is propitious to nitrogen efficiently and stably to convert into ammonia under environmental conditions with superior selectivity and good catalytic activity. The NH3 yield rate is 29.47 μg h-1 mgcat-1 at -0.3 V vs RHE, and the Faradaic efficiency (FE) is 28.86% at -0.1 V vs RHE. The catalytic mechanism was verified to conform to the distal pathway. This work will provide a new way to develop an MXene-based electrocatalyst for eNRR.

Abstract
Developing efficient, lightweight, and durable all-solid-state supercapacitors is crucial for future energy storage systems. The study focuses on optimizing electrode materials to achieve high capacitance and stability. This study introduces a novel two-step pyrolysis process to synthesize activated carbon nanosheets from jute sticks (JAC), resulting in an optimized JAC-2 material with a high yield (≈24%) and specific surface area (≈2600 m2 g-1). Furthermore, an innovative in situ synthesis approach is employed to synthesize hybrid nanocomposites (NiCoLDH-1@JAC-2) by integrating JAC nanosheets with nickel-cobalt-layered double hydroxide nanoflowers (NiCoLDH). These nanocomposites serve as positive electrode materials and JAC-2 as the negative electrode material in all-solid-state asymmetric hybrid supercapacitors (HSCs), exhibiting remarkable performance metrics. The HSCs achieve a specific capacitance of 750 F g-1, a specific capacity of 209 mAh g-1 (at 0.5 A g-1), and an energy density of 100 Wh kg-1 (at 250 W kg-1) using PVA/KOH solid electrolyte, while maintaining outstanding cyclic stability. Importantly, a density functional theory framework is utilized to validate the experimental findings, underscoring the potential of this novel approach for enhancing HSC performance and enabling the large-scale production of transition metal-based layered double hydroxides.

Abstract
In this study, we introduce a novel approach for synthesizing two-dimensional (2D) MXene heterostructures featuring a sandwiched and cross-linked network structure. This method addresses the common issue of activity degradation in 2D nanomaterials caused by inevitable aggregation. By utilizing the distinct surface characteristics of MXene, we successfully induced the growth of various 2D nanomaterials on MXene substrates. This strategy effectively mitigates self-stacking defects and augments the exposure of surface areas. In particular, the obtained 2D-2D MXene@NiCo-layered double hydroxide (MH-NiCo) heterostructures exhibit enhanced structural stability, improved chemical reversibility, and heightened charge transfer efficiency, outperforming pure NiCo LDH. The aqueous MH-Ni4Co1//Zn@carbon cloth (MH-Ni4Co1//Zn@CC) battery demonstrates exceptional performance with a remarkable specific capacity of 0.61 mAh cm-2, maintaining 96.6 % capacitance after 2300 cycles. Additionally, it achieves an energy density of 1.047 mWh cm-2 and a power density of 32.899 mW cm-2. This research not only paves the way for new design paradigms in energy-related nanomaterials but also offers invaluable insights for the application and optimization of 2D-2D heterostructures in advanced electrochemical devices.

Abstract
Controlled aggregation is of great significance in designing nanodevices with high electrochemical performance. In this study, an in situ aggregation strategy with cyclodextrin polymer (CDP) was employed to prepare polyaniline (PANI)/MXene (MX) composites. MXene served as a two-dimensional structure template. Due to supramolecular interactions, CDP could be controllably modified with PANI layers, effectively preventing the self-polymerization of PANI. As a result, this integration facilitated a more uniform growth of PANI on MXene and further improved the capacitance performance of CDP-MX/PA. In a three-electrode system, the specific capacitance of MX/PA at 1 A g-1 was 460.8 F g-1, which increased to 523.8 F g-1 after CDP-induced growth. CDP-MX/PA exhibited a high energy density of 27.7 W h kg-1 at a power density of 700 W kg-1. This suggests that the synthetic strategy employed in this study holds promise in providing robust support for the preparation of high-performance energy-storage device.

Abstract
Cobalt Iron -layered double hydroxide (CoFe-LDH) nano sheets were attached to Nickel-metal organic frameworks (Ni-MOF) by utilizing hydrothermal reaction method, and CoFe-LDH@Ni-MOF was synthesized and worked as the cathode catalyst in microbial fuel cell. The surface of this composite material provided generous electrochemical active sites, consisting of wrinkled strips of CoFe-LDH adhering to a lamellar structure of Ni-MOF. In terms of the maximum output power density, CoFe-LDH@Ni-MOF as the catalyst was 211 mW/m2, 2.54 times higher than that of Ni-MOF (83 mW/m2), and it was stable at about 225 mV for 150 h. CoFe-LDH@Ni-MOF showed high oxygen reduction reaction capability and high specific surface area, and the electron transfer rate was accelerated. This work might set the stage for the development and utilization of fuel cell cathode catalysts.

Abstract
The synergistic armor-etching (SAE) approach was proposed using natural organic weak acid (tannic acid, i.e., TA) for the controllable assembly of hollow and interpenetrated HZIF-8@MWCNTs hybrid nanomaterial (ZIF-8, zeolitic imidazolate framework-8; MWCNTs, multi-walled carbon nanotubes), which exhibited highly ordered crystal structure and unique morphological characteristics. The SAE strategy not only can rapidly etch solid ZIF- material into a hollow structure (~ 10 min), but also form the TA shell (~ 33 nm) on its surface. Then, the HZIF-8@MWCNTs electrochemical sensor was constructed for selective and sensitive detection of the target molecule (dopamine, DA). A sequence of studies indicated that the fabricated TA coating was capable of promoting the spread of DA into the reactive centers of hollow MOF and MWCNTs, which exhibited outstanding electroanalytical characteristics through the synergistic effect. The DPV oxidation peak of DA was strongest at 50 mV vs. Ag/AgCl reference electrode. Under the optimal conditions, there are two linear dynamic ranges of current response of 0.01 ~ 10 and 10 ~ 550 µmol L- 1 with a detection limit of 0.003 µmol·L- 1 (S/N = 3). Simultaneously, the HZIF-8@MWCNTs electrochemical sensor could detect low levels of DA in real products. The recoveries of the actual sample tests were between 98.2% and 102%, and the relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) of all studies was less than 3.0%. The statistical analyses (F-test and t-test) were employed to demonstrate the accuracy of method developed. This work will enlighten researchers operating in the domain of MOFs composites, accelerating the advancement of electrochemical sensing on the basis of hollow MOFs materials.

Abstract
Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries have attracted much attention due to their superior theoretical specific capacity and high theoretical energy density. However, rapid capacity fading originating from the shuttle effect, insulating the S cathode and the dendrite formation on the Li anode restrict the practical applications of Li-S batteries. Herein, we suggest novel coatings on glass fiber separators to satisfy all high-performance Li-S battery requirements. A conductive Ti3C2Tx (MXene) nanosheet/Fe-MOF or Ti3C2Tx (MXene) nanosheet/Cu-MOF layer was coated on a glass fiber separator to act as a polysulfide trapping layer. The MXene layer with high conductivity and polar surface functional groups could confine polysulfides and accelerate the redox conversions. The porous MOF layer acts as a Li ion sieve, thereby leading to the interception of polysulfides and mitigation of Li dendrite growth. The cells with the Cu-MOF/MXenes and Fe-MOF/MXene separators display superior capacities of 1100 and 1131 mA h g-1 after 300 cycles, respectively, whereas the cell with a pure glass fiber separator delivers a very low capacity of 309 mA h g-1 after 300 cycles. With Fe-MOF/MXene and Cu-MOF/MXene configurations, the discharge capacity, coulombic efficiency, cycling stability, and electrochemical conversion reactions are significantly improved. Our ab initio calculations demonstrate that the MXene layer dissociates lithium polysulfides into adsorbed S and mobile Li ions, which explains the experimental findings.

Abstract
The effects of near surface or surface mechanisms on electrochemical performance (lower specific capacitance density) hinders the development of 3D printed micro supercapacitors (MSCs). The reasonable internal structural characteristics of printed electrodes and the appropriate intercalation material can effectively compensate for the effects of surface or near-surface mechanisms. In this study, a layered structure is constructed inside an electrode using an ink with liquid-crystal characteristics, and the pore structure and oxidation active sites of the layered electrode are optimized by controlling the amount of Co3 O4 -quantum dots (Co3 O4 QDs). The Co3 O4 QDs are distributed in the pores of the electrode surface, and the insertion of Co3 O4 QDs can effectively compensate for the limitations of surface or near-surface mechanisms, thus effectively improving the pseudocapacitive characteristics of the 3D-printed MSCs. The 3D printed MSC exhibits a high area capacitance (306.13 mF cm-2 ) and energy density (34.44 µWh cm-2 at a power density of 0.108 mW cm-2 ). Therefore, selecting the appropriate materials to construct printable electrode structures and effectively adjusting material ratios for efficient 3D printing are expected to provide feasible solutions for the construction of various high-energy storage systems such as MSCs.

Abstract
The use of conductive MOFs (c-MOFs) in zinc-based batteries has been a popular research direction. Zinc-based batteries are widely used with the advantages of high specific capacity and safety and stability, but they also face many problems. c-MOFs have excellent conductivity compared with other primitive MOFs, and therefore have better applications in zinc-based batteries. In this paper, the transfer mechanisms of the unique charges of c-MOFs: hop transport and band transport, respectively, are discussed and the way of electron transport is further addressed. Then, the various ways to prepare c-MOFs are introduced, among which solvothermal, interfacial synthesis, and postprocessing methods are widely used. In addition, the applications of c-MOFs are discussed in terms of their role and performance in different types of zinc-based batteries. Finally, the current problems of c-MOFs and the prospects for their future development are presented.

Abstract
Oxygen doping strategy is one of the most effective methods to improve the electrochemical properties of nickel-cobalt phosphide (NiCoP)-based capacitors by adjusting its inherent electronic structure. In this paper, O-doped NiCoP microspheres derived from porous nanostructured nickel metal-organic frameworks (Ni-MOFs) were constructed through solvothermal method followed by phosphorization treatment. The O-doping concentration has a siginificant influence on the rate performance and cycle stability. The optimized O-doped NiCoP electrode material shows a specific capacitance of 632.4 F-g-1at 1 A-g-1and a high retention rate of 56.9% at 20 A g-1. The corresponding NiCoP-based asymmetric supercapacitor exhibits a high energy density of 30.1 Wh kg-1when the power density is 800.9 W kg-1, and can still maintain 82.1% of the initial capacity after 10 000 cycles at 5 A g-1.

Abstract
In response to serious ecological and environmental problems worldwide, a novel graphene oxide (GO) induction method for the in situ synthesis of GO/metal organic framework (MOF) composites (Ni-BTC@GO) for supercapacitors with excellent performance is presented in this study. For the synthesis of the composites, 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid (BTC) is used as an organic ligand due to its economic advantages. The optimum amount of GO is determined by a comprehensive analysis of morphological characteristics and electrochemical tests. 3D Ni-BTC@GO composites show a similar spatial structure to that of Ni-BTC, revealing that Ni-BTC could provide an effective framework and avoid GO aggregation. The Ni-BTC@GO composites have a more stable electrolyte-electrode interface and an improved electron transfer route than pristine GO and Ni-BTC. The synergistic effects of GO dispersion and Ni-BTC framework on electrochemical behavior are determined, where Ni-BTC@GO 2 achieves the best performance in energy storage performance. Based on the results, the maximum specific capacitance is 1199 F/g at 1 A/g. Ni-BTC@GO 2 has an excellent cycling stability of 84.47% after 5000 cycles at 10 A/g. Moreover, the assembled asymmetric capacitor exhibits an energy density of 40.89 Wh/kg at 800 W/kg, and it still remains at 24.44 Wh/kg at 7998 W/kg. This material is expected to contribute to the design of excellent GO-based supercapacitor electrodes.

Constructing tightly integrated conductive metal-organic framework/covalent triazine framework heterostructure by coordination bonds for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution. J Colloid Interface Sci 2023; 633:233-242. [PMID: 36446216 DOI: 10.1016/j.jcis.2022.11.094] [Citation(s) in RCA: 6] [Impact Index Per Article: 6.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 09/06/2022] [Revised: 11/17/2022] [Accepted: 11/18/2022] [Indexed: 11/25/2022]
Abstract
The construction of tightly integrated heterostructures with metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) has been confirmed to be an effective way for improved hydrogen evolution. However, the reported tightly integrated MOF/COF hybrids were usually limited to the covalent connection of COFs with aldehyde groups and NH2-MOF via Schiff base reaction, restricting the development of MOF/COF hybrids. Herein, a covalent triazine framework (CTF-1), a subtype of crystalline COFs, was integrated with a conductive two-dimensional (2D) MOF (Ni-CAT-1) by a novel coordinating connection mode for significantly enhanced visible-light-driven hydrogen evolution. The terminal amidine groups in the CTF-1 layers offer dual N sites for the coordination of metal ions, which provides the potential of coordinating connection between CTF-1 and Ni-CAT-1. The conductive 2D Ni-CAT-1 in Ni-CAT-1/CTF-1 hybrids effectively facilitates the separation of photogenerated carriers of CTF-1 component, and the resultant hybrid materials show significantly enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen evolution activity. In particular, the Ni-CAT-1/CTF-1 (1:19) sample exhibits the maximum hydrogen evolution rate of 8.03 mmol g-1h-1, which is about four times higher than that of the parent CTF-1 (1.96 mmol g-1h-1). The enhanced photocatalytic activity of Ni-CAT-1/CTF-1 is mainly attributed to the incorporation of conductive MOF which leads to the formation of a Z-Scheme heterostructure, promoting the electron transfer in hybrid materials. The coordinating combination mode of Ni-CAT-1 and CTF-1 in this work provides a novel strategy for constructing tightly integrated MOF/COF hybrid materials.

Abstract
For the energy supply of smart and portable equipment, high performance supercapacitor electrode materials are drawing more and more concerns. Conductive Ni-MOF is a class of materials with higher conductivity compared with traditional MOFs, but it continues to lack stability. Specifically, MXene (Ti3C2Tx) has been employed as an electrochemical substrate for its high mechanical stability and abundant active sites, which can be combined with MOFs to improve its electrochemical performance. In this paper, a novel Ni-MOF nanorods array/Ti3C2Tx nanocomposite was prepared via a facile hydrothermal reaction, which makes good use of the advantages of conductive Ni-MOF and high strength Ti3C2Tx. The high density forest-like Ni-MOF array in situ grown on the surface of Ti3C2Tx can provide abundant active electrochemical sites and construct a pathway for effective ion transport. The formation of a "Ti-O···Ni" bond accomplished during an in situ growth reaction endows the strong interfacial interaction between Ni-MOF and Ti3C2Tx. As a result, the Ni-MOF/Ti3C2Tx nanocomposite can achieve a high specific capacitance of 497.6 F·g-1 at 0.5 A·g-1 and remain over 66% of the initial capacitance when the current density increases five times. In addition, the influence of the Ti3C2Tx concentration and reaction time on the morphology and performance of the resultant products were also investigated, leading to a good understanding of the formation process of the nanocomposite and the electrochemical mechanism for a supercapacitive reaction.

Abstract
The synergistic effect between transition metal active centers and the generation of multiple removal pathways has a significant impact on the catalytic activation efficiency of peroxymonosulfate. In this work, a kind of composite catalyst was prepared by growing VCo-metal-organic frameworks (VCo-MOF) in-situ on the surface of Ti3C2Tx by a solvothermal method. The morphology and structure are characterized by Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), Energy Dispersion Spectrum (EDS), Atomic Force Microscope (AFM), etc. Response surface methodology was used to optimize the experimental conditions. Only 5 mg catalyst can be used to effectively activate PMS and remove 96.14 % ciprofloxacin (CIP, 20 mg/L) within 30 min. The removal effect of catalyst on CIP in different actual water environment was explored. In addition, the fluorescence spectrum test also verified the effective removal of ciprofloxacin. V-Co-Ti ternary system provides a wealth of active sites for CIP removal. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and lear sweep voltammetry (LSV) tests showed the existence of the electron transfer pathway. The results of density functional theory (DFT) calculation show that VCo-MOF@Ti3C2Tx has excellent adsorption and activation ability for PMS. At the same time, the hydrophilicity of the catalyst makes PMS more inclined to react with water molecules, which promotes the formation of a unique superoxide radical path.

Abstract
MXenes, two-dimensional (2D) transition-metal carbides and nitrides with high electrical conductivity, show outstanding potential for energy storage applications. However, the aggregation and restacking of 2D MXene nanosheets seriously decrease the performance of MXene-based electrodes. Instead of using high-cost artificial templates, herein, we select natural rubber (NR) latex-containing uniform sub-macroparticles as sacrificial templates and successfully construct three-dimensional interconnected porous MXene foam. This porous structure effectively prevents the restacking of MXene nanosheets and accelerates the transfer of electrolyte ions during charging and discharging, which significantly enhances capacitance and rate performance. By adjusting the loading of latex, we find that MXene foam (MXF)-70% provides both improved specific capacitance of 480 F g-1 at 2 mV s-1 and superior rate performance (42.1% residual at 1 V s-1) with excellent cycling stability of 97.1% capacitance retention after 10000 cycles at 50 mV s-1. Additionally, the low cost of natural rubber latex provides an alternate route to produce foam electrodes on a large scale for portable and integrated supercapacitors.

Abstract
A series of Ni-MOF materials were synthesized via a simple hydrothermal method and can be employed as electrodes for supercapacitors (SCs). Different temperatures were selected to unveil the effect of temperature on the formation, structure, and electrochemical performance of Ni-MOF-x (x = 60, 80, 100, and 120). Ni-MOF-80 possessed a larger specific surface area with a cross-network structure formed on its surface. The synthesized Ni-MOF electrode delivered a specific capacity of 30.89 mA h g-1 when the current density reached 1 A g-1 in a three-electrode system. The as-fabricated Ni-MOF materials could be further designed and are expected to deliver satisfactory performance in practice.

Abstract
Introducing new materials with low cost and superior solar harvesting efficiency requires urgent attention to solve energy and environmental challenges. Titanium carbide (Ti3C2T x ) MXene, a 2D layered material, is a promising solution to solve the issues of existing materials due to their promising conductivity with low cost to function as a cocatalyst/support. On the other hand, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are emerging materials due to their high surface area and semiconducting characteristics. Therefore, coupling them would be promising to form composites with higher solar harvesting efficiency. Thus, the main objective of this work to disclose recent development in Ti3C2T x -based MOF nanocomposites for energy conversion applications to produce renewable fuels. MOFs can generate photoinduced electron/hole pairs, followed by transfer of electrons to MXenes through Schottky junctions for photoredox reactions. Currently, the principles, fundamentals, and mechanism of photocatalytic systems with construction of Schottky junctions are critically discussed. Then the basics of MOFs are discussed thoroughly in terms of their physical properties, morphologies, optical properties, and derivatives. The synthesis of Ti3C2T x MXenes and their composites with the formation of surface functionals is systematically illustrated. Next, critical discussions are conducted on design considerations and strategies to engineer the morphology of Ti3C2T x MXenes and MOFs. The interfacial/heterojunction modification strategies of Ti3C2T x MXenes and MOFs are then deeply discussed to understand the roles of both materials. Following that, the applications of MXene-mediated MOF nanotextures in view of CO2 reduction and water splitting for solar fuel production are critically analyzed. Finally, the challenges and a perspective toward the future research of MXene-based MOF composites are disclosed.

Abstract
Tin (Sn)-based electrodes, featuring high electrochemical activity and suitable voltage plateau, gain tremendous attention as promising anode materials for sodium-ion batteries. However, the application of Sn-based electrodes has been largely restricted by the serious pulverization upon repeated cycling due to their large volume expansion, especially at high current densities. Herein, a unique three-dimensional decorated structure was designed, containing ultrafine Sn nanoparticles and nitrogen-deficient carbon nitride (Sn/D-C3N4), to efficiently alleviate the expansion stress and prevent the aggregation of Sn nanoparticles. Furthermore, the density functional theory calculations have proved the high sodium adsorption ability and improved diffusion kinetics through the hybridization of D-C3N4 with Sn nanoparticles. Further combining the high electronic/ionic conductivity provided by the porous C3N4 matrix, high charge contribution from capacitive behavior, and high sodium storage activity of ultrafine Sn nanoparticles, the resultant Sn/D-C3N4 can achieve an ultrahigh reversible capacity of 518.3 mA g-1 after 300 cycles at 1.0 A g-1, and even maintaining a reversible capacity of 436.1 mAh g-1 up to 500 cycles (5.0 A g-1). What's more, the optimized Sn/D-C3N4∥Na3V2(PO4)3/C full cell can keep a high capacity retention of 87.1% at 1.0 A g-1 even after 5000 cycles, manifesting excellent sodium storage performance.

Abstract
Prussian blue analogues are considered as promising supercapacitor electrode materials due to their high theoretical capacitance and low cost. Yet, they suffer from poor electronic conductivity and cycling life. Here, a redox dye polymer, poly(azure C) (PAC), is in-situ grown uniformly on CoFe Prussian blue analogue (CoFePBA). As a polymer mediator, the PAC coating on each PBA not only enhances the electronic conductivity and surface area, but also improves the structural stability and specific capacitance of PBA. As a result, the optimized CoFePBA@PAC possesses ultrahigh specific capacitance (968.67 F g-1 at 1 A g-1), superior rate performance (665.78 F g-1 at 10 A g-1), and excellent long-cycling stability (92.45% capacity retention after 2000 cycles). As an application, a fabricated CoFePBA@PAC//AC asymmetric supercapacitor (AC = activated carbon) maintains 84.7% capacitance retention in 2000 cycles at 1 A g-1 and displays a superior specific energy of 29.16 W h kg-1 at the power density of 799.78 W kg-1. These results demonstrate that redox dye polymer-coated PBAs with outstanding performance have a promising prospect in the field of energy storage.

Abstract
The rational exploration of hybrid materials with well-defined compositions and structures/morphologies is essential for achieving high-performance electrodes for supercapacitors. Here, in situ dispersion and anchoring of NiCoP nanoparticles (NPs) on a bimetal-organic framework (Co1Ni2-MOF) by a controllable partial phosphorization approach are reported. The phosphating temperature and time significantly affect the specific capacitance of NiCoP/Co1Ni2-MOF-X-Y (where X and Y represent the phosphating temperature and time, respectively). Co1Ni2-MOF provides anchoring sites for confining NiCoP NPs, effectively improving the stability of NiCoP NPs. Highly dispersed NiCoP NPs facilitate OH- adsorption, boosting the redox reaction kinetics. NiCoP/Co1Ni2-MOF-350-2 with optimized phosphating conditions exhibits a high specific capacitance of 525 F g-1 at 0.5 A g-1, which is superior to that of the precursor of Co1Ni2-MOF. Moreover, a hybrid supercapacitor constructed with NiCoP/Co1Ni2-MOF-350-2 and activated carbon shows a high specific capacitance and outstanding long-term stability.

Abstract
Designing efficient catalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is a desirable strategy for overall water splitting and the generation of clean and renewable energies. Herein, the electrocatalytic HER and OER activity of the conductive metal-benzenhexathiolate (M-BHT) frameworks has been evaluated utilizing first-principles calculations. The in-plane π-d conjugation of M-BHT guarantees fast electron transfer during electrocatalytic reactions. Notably, Rh-BHT holds the promise of bifunctional HER/OER activity with the overpotentials of 0.07/0.36 V. Furthermore, the application of strain engineering tailors the adsorption of intermediates and promotes the overall water splitting performance. Rh-BHT with the +1% tensile strain shows the HER/OER overpotential of 0.02/0.37 V. This work not only demonstrates the prospects of conductive metal-organic frameworks in electrocatalysis but also offers new insights into designing efficient catalysts by strain engineering.

Recent Advancements in MOF/Biomass and Bio-MOF Multifunctional Materials: A Review. SUSTAINABILITY 2022. [DOI: 10.3390/su14105768] [Citation(s) in RCA: 13] [Impact Index Per Article: 6.5] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 12/25/2022]
Abstract
Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and their derivatives have delivered perfect answers in detection, separation, solving water and electromagnetic pollution and improving catalysis and energy storage efficiency due to their advantages including their highly tunable porosity, structure and versatility. Recently, MOF/biomass, bio-MOFs and their derivatives have gradually become a shining star in the MOF family due to the improvement in the application performance of MOFs using biomass and biomolecules. However, current studies lack a systematic summary of the synthesis and advancements of MOF/biomass, bio-MOFs and their derivatives. In this review, we describe their research progress in detail from the following two aspects: (1) synthesis of MOF/biomass using biomass as a template to achieve good dispersion and connectivity at the same time; (2) preparing bio-MOFs by replacing traditional organic linkers with biomolecules to enhance the connection stability between metal ions/clusters and ligands and avoid the formation of toxic by-products. This enables MOFs to possess additional unique advantages, such as improved biocompatibility and mechanical strength, ideal reusability and stability and lower production costs. Most importantly, this is a further step towards green and sustainable development. Additionally, we showcase some typical application examples to show their great potential, including in the fields of environmental remediation, energy storage and electromagnetic wave absorption.

Abstract
The insufficient contact between two phases in the heterostructure weakens the coupling interaction effect, which makes it difficult to effectively improve the electrochemical performance. Herein, a Co-carbonate hydroxide@ Ni-metal organic frameworks (Co-CH@Ni-MOFs) composite with super uniform core-shell heterostructure is fabricated by adopting 1D Co-CH nanowires as structuredirecting agents to induce the coating of Ni-MOFs. Both experimental and theoretical calculation results demonstrate that the heterostructure plays a vital role in the high performance of the as-prepared materials. On the one hand, the construction of super uniform core-shell heterostructure can create a large number of interfacial active sites and take advantages of the electrochemical characteristics of each component. On the other hand, the heterostructure can increase the adsorption energy of OH- ions and promote the electrochemical activity for improving the reversible redox reaction kinetics. Based on the aforementioned advantages, the as-fabricated Co-CH@Ni-MOFs electrode exhibits a high specific capacity of 173.1 mAh g-1 (1246 F g-1 ) at 1 A g-1 , an ultrahigh rate capability of 70.3% at 150 A g-1 and excellent cycling stability with 90.1% capacity retention after 10 000 cycles at 10 A g-1 . This study may offer a versatile design for fabricating a MOFs-based heterostructure as energy storage electrodes.

Abstract
Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) are believed to be intriguing anode materials for Li+ storage because of their tunable composition, designable topologies, and tailorable porous structures, yet they suffer from severe capacity decay and inferior cycling stability due to the volume variation upon lithiation and high electrical resistance. Herein, we develop a universal strategy for synthesizing small PBA nanoparticles hosted on two-dimensional (2D) MXene or rGO (PBA/MX or PBA/rGO) via an in situ transformation from ultrathin layered double hydroxides (LDH) nanosheets. 2D conductive nanosheets allow for fast electron transport and guarantee the full utilization of PBA even at high rates; at the meantime, PBA nanoparticles effectively prevent 2D materials from restacking and facilitate rapid ion diffusion. The optimized Ni0.8Mn0.2-PBA/MX as an anode for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) delivers a capacity of 442 mAh g-1 at 0.1 A g-1 and an excellent cycling robustness in comparison with bare PBA bulk crystals. We believe that this study offers an alternative choice for rationally designing PBA-based electrode materials for energy storage.
