Abstract
OBJECTIVES To investigate how the co-occurrence of diabetes, hypertension and overweight/obesity is associated with pain following an exercise intervention for knee and hip osteoarthritis (OA). METHODS Register-based cohort study. We included people from the Swedish Osteoarthritis Register who underwent education and exercise for knee or hip OA. Diabetes and hypertension were defined using medical records and dispensation of medication. Body Mass Index (BMI) was used to identify people with overweight (≥25 to <30), and obesity (≥30). We used linear mixed-effect models with patients nested into clinics to estimate the associations between the exposures and pain (Numeric Rating Scale 0-10), adjusting for age, sex, education, and physical activity. RESULTS We analysed 80,893 patients with knee or hip OA. The accumulation of metabolic conditions was associated with worse pain at baseline and follow-ups. When obesity, hypertension and diabetes coexisted, patients treated for knee OA reported more pain at baseline (adjusted mean pain difference 0.9 [95 %CI: 0.8; 1.0]), 3 months (1.0 [0.9; 1.1]) and 12 months (1.3 [1.1; 1.4]) compared to those without any of the conditions. Similar results were observed for patients treated for hip OA when obesity, hypertension and diabetes coexisted (baseline (0.7 [0.5; 0.8], 3 (0.8[0.6; 1.0]) and 12 months (1.1[0.8; 1.3]). CONCLUSIONS When diabetes, hypertension and obesity coexist with OA, patients not only experience heightened baseline pain compared to metabolically healthy individuals, but the disparity increases after an education and exercise intervention suggesting that a one-size-fits-all approach may be inadequate in addressing the complex interplay between metabolic health and OA.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess how changes in depressive symptoms influence physical function over time among those with radiographic knee osteoarthritis (OA). METHODS Participants from the Osteoarthritis Initiative with radiographic knee OA (n = 2,212) and complete data were identified at baseline. Depressive symptoms were assessed as a time-varying score at baseline and the first three annual follow-up visits using the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) Scale. Physical function was measured at the first four follow-up visits using 20-meter gait speed meters per second. The following two marginal structural models were fit: one assessing the main effect of depressive symptoms on gait speed and another assessing time-specific associations. RESULTS Time-adjusted results indicated that higher CES-D scores were significantly associated with slower gait speed (-0.0048; 95% confidence interval -0.0082 to -0.0014), and time-specific associations of CES-D were largest during the first follow-up interval (-0.0082; 95% confidence interval -0.0128 to -0.0035). During subsequent follow-up time points, the influence of depressive symptoms on gait speed diminished. CONCLUSION The negative effect of depressive symptoms on physical function may decrease over time as knee OA progresses.

Abstract
PURPOSE The Osteoarthritis Research Society International has recommended a core set of performance-based tests of physical function for use in knee osteoarthritis (OA) patients. The core set includes 30-second chair stand test (30-s CST), 4 × 10 m fast-paced walk test (40-m FPWT), and a stair climb test. This study aimed to evaluate responsiveness and minimal important changes (MICs) of these performance-based measures in knee OA patients following physiotherapy. METHODS Sixty patients with knee OA, undergoing 4-week physiotherapy performed 30-s CST, 40-m FPWT, and 4-step stair climb test (4-step SCT) at pre- and post-intervention. Patients also completed the 7-point global rating scale as an external anchor at post-intervention. Responsiveness was evaluated using receiver operating characteristics curve and correlation analysis. RESULTS All three performance-based measures of physical function showed area under the curve > 0.70. Correlation analysis showed relationship of 30-s CST, 40-m FPWT, and 4-Step SCT with the external anchor fell within moderate to good range (Spearman = 0.43-0.63). Furthermore, MIC values reflecting improvement for 30-s CST, 40-m FPWT, and 4-Step SCT were 2.5, 0.21, and 3.21, respectively. CONCLUSION Our findings demonstrated all three performance-based measures have good responsiveness to measure improvement in physical functions of knee OA patients following physiotherapy. The MIC reflecting improvement can help clinicians and researchers to make a decision based on the clinical significance of improvements in patients' functional status.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Chronic inflammation plays a key role in knee osteoarthritis pathophysiology and increases risk of comorbidities, yet most interventions do not typically target inflammation. Our study will investigate if an anti-inflammatory dietary programme is superior to a standard care low-fat dietary programme for improving knee pain, function and quality-of-life in people with knee osteoarthritis. METHODS AND ANALYSIS The eFEct of an Anti-inflammatory diet for knee oSTeoarthritis study is a parallel-group, assessor-blinded, superiority randomised controlled trial. Following baseline assessment, 144 participants aged 45-85 years with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis will be randomly allocated to one of two treatment groups (1:1 ratio). Participants randomised to the anti-inflammatory dietary programme will receive six dietary consultations over 12 weeks (two in-person and four phone/videoconference) and additional educational and behaviour change resources. The consultations and resources emphasise nutrient-dense minimally processed anti-inflammatory foods and discourage proinflammatory processed foods. Participants randomised to the standard care low-fat dietary programme will receive three dietary consultations over 12 weeks (two in-person and one phone/videoconference) consisting of healthy eating advice and education based on the Australian Dietary Guidelines, reflecting usual care in Australia. Adherence will be assessed with 3-day food diaries. Outcomes are assessed at 12 weeks and 6 months. The primary outcome will be change from baseline to 12 weeks in the mean score on four Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS4) subscales: knee pain, symptoms, function in daily activities and knee-related quality of life. Secondary outcomes include change in individual KOOS subscale scores, patient-perceived improvement, health-related quality of life, body mass and composition using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, inflammatory (high-sensitivity C reactive protein, interleukins, tumour necrosis factor-α) and metabolic blood biomarkers (glucose, glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c), insulin, liver function, lipids), lower-limb function and physical activity. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION The study has received ethics approval from La Trobe University Human Ethics Committee. Results will be presented in peer-reviewed journals and at international conferences. Abstract
Background Osteoarthritis (OA) can cause disability and reduce quality of life (QoL). Objectives This study aimed to determine whether GreenShell mussel (GSM) powder (PERNAULTRA) consumption was more effective than placebo at improving physical performance and subjective measures of symptoms and function in adults with early signs of knee OA. Methods The Researching Osteoarthritis and GSM study was a 6-mo randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in adults aged 55-80 y, screened for signs of OA (n = 120, 65.9 ± 6.43 y, 63% female). Participants consumed either 3 g of powdered whole GSM or placebo (pea protein) daily. Baseline and end data collection included 30-s chair stand, stair test, 40-m fast-paced walk test, Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) questionnaire categorized into 5 subscales [pain (P), symptoms except pain (S), function in activities of daily living (ADL), function in sports/recreation (SP), and QoL], a measure of Intermittent and Constant Osteoarthritis Pain, and visual analog scale of pain and symptoms. Results Visual analog scale symptoms showed a significantly greater reduction in percentage change for GSM than that for placebo [-28.1 (-59.2, 43.2) compared with 0.00 (-28.6, 100); P = 0.03]. Further, a trend for improvement in percentage change for GSM compared with placebo was seen in 40m fast-paced walk [2.51 (-3.55, 8.12) compared with 0.20 (-6.58, 4.92); P = 0.09], KOOS-SP [11.4 (-4.48, 27.0) compared with 0.00 (-11.1, 17.7); P = 0.09], and Intermittent and Constant Osteoarthritis Pain intermittent pain scale [-27.7 (-77.3, 0.00) compared with -14.6 (-50.0, 36.4); P = 0.08]. In those with body mass index (BMI; in kg/m2) <25, GSM consumption significantly improved KOOS-S compared with placebo [6.35 (3.49, 12.7) compared with 0.00 (-4.65, 4.49); P = 0.03] and showed a trend for improvement in KOOS-ADL [3.29 (1.01, 8.79) compared with 1.01 (-5.75, 4.30); P = 0.07]. Those with BMI of ≥25, consuming GSM showed a trend for improvement in KOOS-SP [13.6 (-4.76, 33.3) compared with 0.00 (-12.5, 20.0); P = 0.07]. Conclusions This research suggests consumption of GSM has potential to alleviate symptoms and improve functionality in OA.This trial was registered at Clinical Trial Registry as ACTRN12620001112954p (https://www.anzctr.org.au/ACTRN12620001112954p.aspx).

Abstract
Objective The Good Life with osteoArthritis: Denmark (GLA:D™) program for knee and hip osteoarthritis has been shown to be effective, but evaluations have yet to explore whether effectiveness differs by program context. The present study explores whether there are differences in effectiveness of the GLA:D™ program for treatment of hip and knee osteoarthritis across program location (i.e., rural, urban, metro) and program payor (i.e., public, private) within Alberta, Canada. Design The study population was adults with hip or knee osteoarthritis attending the 8-week GLA:D™ supervised exercise and education programme in Alberta between Sep 2017-Mar 2020. Outcomes of interest were joint-related pain and quality of life (HOOS/KOOS), health quality of life (EQ-5D-5L), and performance-based functional (30-s chair stand test; 40-m walk test) measures. Minimally clinically important changes were calculated for each outcome and ANOVA and chi-square tests were used to determine statistical significance by program location or payor. Results Of the 1321 eligible participants, 974 (73.7%) completed the baseline questionnaire, about 50% of participants participated in a metro area and 60% paid privately for the program. There were no statistically significant differences in improvements of joint-related pain, joint-related quality of life, health-related quality of life, or performance-based functional measures by program location or program payor, except for participants who received the program in a publicly covered primary care clinic who experienced significantly larger improvements in joint-related pain. Conclusion The implementation of the GLA:D™ program for the treatment of knee and hip osteoarthritis in Alberta is effective across a range of contexts.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE A previous systematic literature review demonstrated a significant economic and humanistic burden on patients with osteoarthritis (OA). The aim of this study was to systematically review and update the burden of OA reported by large sample studies since 2016. METHODS We searched Medline (via Ovid) and Embase using the updated search strategy based on the previous review. Those studies with a sample size ≥ 1000 and measuring the cost (direct or indirect) or health-related quality of life (HRQL) of OA were included. Pairs of reviewers worked independently and in duplicate. An arbitrator was consulted to resolve discrepancies between reviewers. The Kappa value was calculated to examine the agreement between reviewers. All costs were converted to 2021 US dollars according to inflation rates and exchange rates. RESULTS A total of 1230 studies were screened by title and abstract and 159 by full text, and 54 studies were included in the review. The Kappa value for the full-text screening was 0.71. Total annual OA-related direct costs ranged from US$326 in Japan to US$19,530 in the US. Total annual all-cause direct costs varied from US$173 in Italy to US$41,433 in the US. The annual indirect costs ranged from US$736 in the US to US$18,884 in the Netherlands. Thirty-four studies reported HRQL, with EQ-5D (13, 38%) and Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) (6, 18%) being the most frequently used instruments. The EQ-VAS and utility scores ranged from 41.5 to 81.7 and 0.3 to 0.9, respectively. The ranges of WOMAC pain (range 0-20, higher score for worse health), stiffness (range 0-8), and physical functioning (range 0-68) were 2.0-3.0, 1.0-5.0, and 5.8-42.8, respectively. CONCLUSION Since 2016, the ranges of direct costs of OA became wider, while the HRQL of patients remained poor. More countries outside the US have published OA-related disease burden using registry databases.

Abstract
Purpose of review Exercise therapy is the first line treatment for patients with knee and hip osteoarthritis (OA) but is consistently underutilized. In this review, we aim to provide health care professionals with an overview of the latest evidence in the areas of exercise therapy for OA, which can serve as a guide for incorporating the ideal exercise therapy prescription in the overall management plan for their patients with OA. Recent findings Evidence continues to be produced supporting the use of exercise therapy for all patients with knee or hip OA. Ample evidence exists suggesting exercise therapy is a safe form of treatment, for both joint structures and the patient overall. Several systematic reviews show that exercise therapy is likely to improve patient outcomes, regardless of disease severity or comorbidities. However, no single type of exercise therapy is superior to others. Summary Health care practitioners and patients should be encouraged to incorporate exercise therapy into treatment plans and can be assured of the safety profile and likelihood of improvement in important patient outcomes. Since no single exercise therapy program shows vastly superior benefit, patient preference and contextual factors should be central to the shared decision-making process when selecting and individualising appropriate exercise therapy prescriptions.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To develop evidence-informed recommendations to support the delivery of best practice therapeutic exercise for people with knee and/or hip osteoarthritis (OA). DESIGN A multi-stage, evidence-informed, international multi-disciplinary consensus process that included: 1) a narrative literature review to synthesise existing evidence; 2) generation of evidence-informed proposition statements about delivery of exercise for people with knee and/or hip OA by an international multi-disciplinary expert panel, with statements refined and analysed thematically; 3) an e-Delphi survey with the expert panel to gain consensus on the most important statements; 4) a final round of statement refinement and thematic analysis to group remaining statements into domains. RESULTS The expert panel included 318 members (academics, health care professionals and exercise providers, patient representatives) from 43 countries. Final recommendations comprised 54 specific proposition statements across 11 broad domains: 1) use an evidence-based approach; 2) consider exercise in the context of living with OA and pain; 3) undertake a comprehensive baseline assessment with follow-up; 4) set goals; 5) consider the type of exercise; 6) consider the dose of exercise; 7) modify and progress exercise; 8) individualise exercise; 9) optimise the delivery of exercise; 10) focus on exercise adherence; and 11) provide education about OA and the role of exercise. CONCLUSION The breadth of issues identified as important by the international diverse expert panel highlights that delivering therapeutic exercise for OA is multi-dimensional and complex.

Abstract
This year in review presents key highlights from research relating to osteoarthritis (OA) rehabilitation published from the 1st April 2021 to the 18th March 2022. To identify studies for inclusion in the review, an electronic database search was carried out in Medline, Embase and CINAHLplus. Following screening, included studies were grouped according to their predominant topic area, including core OA rehabilitation treatments (education, exercise, weight loss), adjunctive treatments, novel and emerging treatments or research methods, and translation of rehabilitation evidence into practice. Studies of perceived high clinical importance, quality, or controversy in the field were selected for inclusion in the review. Headline findings include: the positive role of technology to support remote delivery of core OA rehabilitation treatments, the importance of delivering educational interventions alongside exercise, the clinical and cost-effectiveness of a stepped approach to exercise, controversy around the potential mechanisms of action of exercise, mixed findings regarding the use of splinting for thumb base OA, increasing research on blood flow restriction training as a potential new intervention for OA, and evidence that the beneficial effects from core OA treatments seen in randomised controlled trials can be seen when implemented in clinical practice. A consistent finding across several recently published systematic reviews is that randomised controlled trials testing OA rehabilitation interventions are often small, with some risk of bias. Whilst future research is warranted, it needs to be large scale and robust, to enable definitive answers to important remaining questions in the field of OA rehabilitation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Exercise therapy is safe and effective in people with single conditions, but the feasibility in people with two or more conditions is unclear. Therefore, the aim was to evaluate the feasibility of exercise therapy and self-management in people with multimorbidity prior to a randomised, controlled trial (RCT). METHODS This was a mixed-methods feasibility study performed in two general hospitals and one psychiatric hospital. 20 adult patients (8 females; mean age (SD) 67 (6.9)) with at least two long-term conditions and a score of ≥ 3 on Disease Burden Impact Scale for at least one condition (at least moderate limitations of daily activities) and of ≥ 2 for at least one other condition. Patients with unstable health conditions, at risk of serious adverse events (SAE) or with terminal conditions were excluded. Participants received 12 weeks of exercise (18 60-min group-based and 6 home-based sessions) and self-management support (6 90-min group-based sessions) supervised by physiotherapists. Pre-defined progression to RCT criteria were the primary outcomes and included recruitment rate (acceptable 20 participants in 3 months), retention through follow-up (75% retention), compliance (75% complete > 9 of exercise and > 3 self-management sessions), outcome burden (80% do not find outcomes too burdensome), improvement in quality of life (EQ-5D-5L) and function (6-min walk test; ≥ 50% experience clinically relevant improvements) and intervention-related SAEs (No SAEs). Furthermore, a purposeful sample including eleven participants and two facilitators were interviewed about their experiences of participating/facilitating. Qualitative data was analysed using thematic analysis. RESULTS Recruitment rate (20 in 49 days), retention (85%), outcome burden (95%), and SAEs (0 related to intervention) were acceptable, while compliance (70%) and improvements (35% in quality of life, 46% in function) were not (amendment needed before proceeding to RCT). The intervention was found acceptable by both participants and physiotherapists with some barriers among participants relating to managing multiple chronic conditions while caring for others or maintaining a job. Physiotherapists expressed a need for additional training. CONCLUSIONS Exercise therapy and self-management are feasible in people with multimorbidity. The subsequent RCT, amending the intervention according to progression criteria and feedback, will determine whether the intervention is superior to usual care alone. Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess the longer-term effect of the Good Life with osteoarthritis in Denmark (GLAD) exercise and education program relative to open-label placebo (OLP) on changes from baseline in core outcomes in individuals with knee osteoarthritis (OA). METHODS In this 1-year follow-up of an open-label, randomized trial, patients with symptomatic and radiographically confirmed knee OA were monitored after being randomized to either the 8-week GLAD program or OLP given as 4 intra-articular saline injections over 8 weeks. The primary outcome was the change from baseline in the Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score questionnaire (KOOS) pain subscale after 1 year in the intention-to-treat population. Key secondary outcomes were the KOOS function and quality of life subscales, and Patients' Global Assessment of disease impact. RESULTS 206 adults were randomly assigned: 102 to GLAD and 104 to OLP, of which only 137 (63/74 GLAD/OLP) provided data at 1 year. At one year the mean changes in KOOS pain were 8.4 for GLAD and 7.0 for OLP (Difference: 1.5 points; 95% CI -2.6 to 5.5). There were no between-group differences in any of the secondary outcomes. CONCLUSIONS In this 1-year follow-up of individuals with knee OA, the 8-week GLAD program and OLP both provided minor longer-term benefits with no group difference. These results require confirmation given the significant loss to follow-up. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER NCT03843931.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To our knowledge, there is no intervention which includes personalised exercise therapy and self-management support for people with multimorbidity, although these interventions may be as effective as for people with single chronic conditions. Therefore, we developed a novel intervention, including personalised exercise therapy and self-management support for people with multimorbidity. METHODS We followed the Medical Research Council framework and conducted one scoping review, five systematic reviews, two registry-based studies, one qualitative interview study and a mixed-methods feasibility study. Following an iterative approach, together with feedback from people with multimorbidity and relevant stakeholders, we developed the MOBILIZE intervention. RESULTS The intervention included 24 (60 minutes) sessions of personalised exercise therapy and 24 (30 minutes) sessions of self-management support twice a week for 12 weeks, delivered in small groups by specifically trained physiotherapists. The intervention targets physiological, psychosocial, behavioural, and contextual factors to improve health-related quality of life and physical function in people living with multimorbidity. CONCLUSIONS We developed a personalised exercise therapy and self-management support programme for people with multimorbidity. The intervention will be tested for its safety and effectiveness in a randomised controlled trial.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To understand factors associated with pain intensity responder status following nonsurgical hip osteoarthritis (OA) intervention, according to sex. METHODS Data were from individuals with hip OA participating in the Danish Good Life With Osteoarthritis in Denmark 8-week education and exercise program. The following factors were recorded at program entry: age; education; mental well-being; comorbidities; body mass index; symptoms in hip, knee, and low back; and program-specific factors including education sessions, former participant lectures, and supervised exercise sessions. Pain intensity was recorded at baseline and at month 3 (post-program) on a 0-100-mm visual analog scale. Response was defined as pain intensity improvement of ≥30% from baseline to post-program. Logistic regression was used and conducted separately in male and female subjects. RESULTS The sample included 791 men and 2,253 women. Female subjects had a mean baseline pain score of 47.2 of 100 (95% confidence interval [95% CI] 46.4-48.1) and male subjects had a score of 41.7 (95% CI 40.3-43.1). By post-program, the proportion of pain responders was 50.4% among women and 45.8% among men (difference P = 0.025). Among women, program-specific factors (attending former participant lectures and more supervised exercise sessions) were positively associated with pain response, as were better mental well-being and fewer comorbidities, while symptoms in other joints/sites were associated with a decreased likelihood of response. Among men, program-specific factors were not associated with response, while better mental well-being and fewer comorbidities were associated with being a responder. CONCLUSION Findings suggest that the influence of some factors on pain response differ for male and female subjects and point to a potential need for targeted approaches for men and women who may require different key messages/approaches from health care providers.

Abstract
Depression, one of the most common comorbidities with osteoarthritis (OA), affects patient prognosis and quality of life. It also increases the overall burden of disease. This subgroup of patients has not been effectively managed in clinical settings. The study aimed to direct physicians' attention to the co-occurrence of depression and OA. Therefore, this review summarizes the relevant literature published over the past 10 years. The focus is on the prevalence of and risk factors for depression in OA, the effects of depression on OA development and treatment response, comorbidity mechanisms, screening, and non-pharmacological treatment. The research on the etiology of depression has been driven largely by epidemiological studies. Recent studies have shown that high levels of pain, poor levels of function, high numbers of OA sites, and slow gait might be associated with depression. However, the pathophysiology of OA and depression comorbidities remains unclear. In addition to immune inflammation and structural changes in the brain, which have been documented in brain imaging studies, psychosocial factors may also play a role. The evidence indicates that depression can be treated with early intervention; however, adjustments may need to be made for individuals with comorbid depression in OA. It is recommended that health care providers pay more attention to depressive symptoms in patients with OA. Clinicians should develop and implement an individualized and comprehensive treatment plan for patients based on a mental health assessment and in teams with other professionals to optimize treatment outcomes.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To describe the prevalence of comorbidities in a population referred to standardised first-line intervention (patient education and exercise) for hip and knee osteoarthritis (OA), in comparison with the general population. Furthermore, we aimed to evaluate if eventual differences were associated with socioeconomic inequalities. DESIGN Register-based study. SETTING Primary healthcare, Sweden. PARTICIPANTS Individuals with hip and/or knee OA included in the Better Management for Patients with Osteoarthritis Register between 2008 and 2016 and and an age-matched, sex-matched and residence-matched reference cohort (1:3) from the general Swedish population. OUTCOME MEASURES Comorbidities were identified with the RxRisk Index, the Elixhauser Comorbidity Index and the Charlson Comorbidity Index, and presented with descriptive statistics as (1) individual diseases, (2) disease categories and (3) scores for each index. The prevalence of comorbidities in the two populations was tested using logistic regression, with separate analyses for age groups and the most affected joint. We then adjusted the analyses for socioeconomic status. RESULTS In this OA population, 85% had ≥1 comorbidity compared with 78% of the reference cohort (OR; 1.62 (95% CI 1.59 to 1.66)). Cardiovascular/blood diseases were the most common comorbidities in both populations (OA, 59%; reference, 54%), with OR; 1.22 (95% CI 1.20 to 1.24) for the OA population. Younger individuals with OA were more comorbid than their matched references overall, and population differences decreased with age (eg, ≥3 comorbidities, aged ≤45 years OR; 1.74 (95% CI 1.52 to 1.98), ≥81 years OR; 0.95 (95% CI 0.87 to 1.04)). Individuals with knee OA were more comorbid than those with hip OA overall. Adjustment for socioeconomic status did not change the estimates. CONCLUSION Comorbidities were more common among individuals with hip and knee OA than among matched references from the general population. The differences could not be explained by socioeconomic status. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER NCT03438630.

Abstract
Knee trauma can lead to poor health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and osteoarthritis. We aimed to assess HRQoL 3–12 years following youth sport-related knee injury considering HRQoL and osteoarthritis determinants. Generic (EQ-5D-5L index, EQ-VAS) and condition-specific (Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score quality of life subscale, KOOS QOL) HRQoL were assessed in 124 individuals 3–12 years following youth sport-related knee injury and 129 uninjured controls of similar age, sex, and sport. Linear regression examined differences in HRQoL outcomes by injury group. Multivariable linear regression explored the influence of sex, time-since-injury, injury type, body mass index, knee muscle strength, Intermittent and Constant Osteoarthritis Pain (ICOAP) score, and Godin Leisure-Time Exercise Questionnaire (GLTEQ) moderate-to-strenuous physical activity. Participant median (range) age was 23 years (14–29) and 55% were female. Injury history was associated with poorer KOOS QOL (−8.41; 95%CI −10.76, −6.06) but not EQ-5D-5L (−0.0074; −0.0238, 0.0089) or EQ-VAS (−3.82; −8.77, 1.14). Injury history (−5.14; −6.90, −3.38), worse ICOAP score (−0.40; −0.45, −0.36), and anterior cruciate ligament tear (−1.41; −2.77, −0.06) contributed to poorer KOOS QOL. Worse ICOAP score contributed to poorer EQ-5D-5L (−0.0024; −0.0034, −0.0015) and higher GLTEQ moderate-to-strenuous physical activity to better EQ-VAS (0.10; 0.03, 0.17). Knee trauma is associated with poorer condition-specific but not generic HRQoL 3–12 years post-injury.
